The story is pretty good, the villain isnt though.
There are some returning OG characters.
This dlc literally takes place on a space station casino, which means great locations.
Loaders return in a new form.
Handsome Jack has a lot of new lines here, if you look around the map.
Definitely the first dlc you should check out.
Would recommend, maybe not even on discount.
This dlc brought me right back to borderlands the pre-sequel. I really love the hyperion branding and design. This dlc adds around 10 hours of additional content. You will need a lot of cash to open every vip door.
Decent enough DLC for Borderlands 3, pretty enjoyable maps, not too easy but also not too difficult.
This is my favorite DLC from Borderlands 3. It was a blast to see Jacks Doppelganger trying to live on his own and struggling with Jacks identity being tied to him. Ever since The Pre-Sequel came out, Timothy Laurence (Jacks Doppelganger) was one of those characters that I just wanted to know more of. This DLC is exactly what I've been craving for and I really like that by the end of the DLC, he's an even better character than ever before. I really wish to see him return in future Borderlands games. It's just a character you can't help but care about.
This time you’re raiding Handsome Jack’s casino under the tutelage of Mad Moxxi, who claims that Jack stole the plans for the casino from her. Jack, you son of a bitch! I’m in.
As far as story connections go, Handsome Jackpot is tenuous. Moxxi and Jack are both fan favorites and constantly cosplayed, so I get why Gearbox focused on their feud here. But the myth of Handsome Jack is so far removed from the Borderlands mythos that it’s hard to care about him when there’s so many other characters to focus on, and Moxxi’s motivations and presence are lacking. In other words, it’s a lot like Borderlands 3 as a whole: there’s plenty of reasons to blow stuff up and lots of cool guns to collect, but without a strong reason for being there. Think of Heist as another planet from the core game, with its own fast-travel points and sidequests just like the rest. In case you’re wondering, it’s about as involved as past DLCs: roughly in the three to four-hour mark without extras.
The casino itself is flashy as hell and the holograms of Jack (plus one surprise) are enigmatic enough, despite the overall stink of fanservice. Fortunately for you (in terms of enemy variety), Jack trapped a lot of people inside the casino due to forced overwhelming debt, so you have plenty of humanoid enemies to fight beyond the typical robot Loaders. There’s a sliver of intrigue here that the game never really explores, as factions and gangs slowly arose out of the ashes of an empire built by a dead man.
Blackjack chests (in which you can hit or stay in order to open them) also add a little flavor to the neon-heavy casino world. While I won’t spoil the near-finale, it goes down in a polarizing parody/homage to various heist films. I dug it, and hope that Gearbox experiments further with ideas like this that are vaguely reminiscent of Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep. Yet, that experiment is all too brief as things get back on a more traditional track.
That’s pretty much it. It’s another Borderlands locale to explore with a small-time turf war and some quirky quips. Yet, I was entertained throughout and enjoyed the much needed change due to the weak foundation of Borderlands 3's main story.
I took my main (FL4K) along, tried out a few different builds and guns, and had a merry time gunning through the DLC. While it’s not exceedingly impressive as a standalone add-on, if all of them are like this, the game will be the first in a long time where the story DLC is better than the main game.
Verdict: 7/10
It opens strong with Handsome Jack being his usual self, then just cuts to sad slutty clown moxi informing us of Jack having been a bad man who "left scars on all of us", leaving the player to trudge through a sad, trashed casino along a dilapidated doppelgänger who, as a male character, is an ineffectual buffoon, and a new competent and collected female character to take over the casino in order to wipe out the last reminder of Jack's superiority as an entertaining character over moxi. All while sad music is playing. I stopped caring about the plot pretty quickly. It's boring. Just more of the same writing that made BL3 as a whole so decidedly anti-fun. Handsome Jack was a tyrant and a bastard? So what, at least he was fun to listen to. This is a game, not a lesson on female empowerment and healing emotional trauma. Or is it? The writers may have been confused.
This DLC is an easy 9/10, one of the better Borderlands DLC. Only second to Tiny Tinas in BL2. The comedy is great, the areas feel fresh and different. PLAY THIS DLC
Good DLC - get it with the rest of them :)
All-in Allan has got it twisted
This has been the only good DLC they've made for this game. You could buy this and be satisfied.
You wanted the best DLC Borderlands 3 has to offer? Here you have it.
Probably the best of the 4 DLCs. The plot, characters, and locations are all fantastic. The length is also solid.
Brings back a very BL2 vibe that a lot of people enjoyed without making it the whole game. A very enjoyable DLC.
Brilliant DLC!
Just finished and I actually had so much fun during it, beautiful looking areas, great design, interesting story and it lasted fairly long if you play casually.
The story is actually 100x better than the base game and I can't even understand how that happen. Were the writers the same or? Surely feels like they weren't. This actually had a good old Borderlands feel to it, a lot of TPS vibe as well.
Witty and smart reflecting on what Jack left behind after his death, better characters than in the base game too.
Shame you pay a whole BL3 package just to only get a well written fun DLC instead of everything to begin with.
Felt like the best type of Borderlands content. Sadly none of BL3's other DLC were anywhere as good as this one.
meh
Neat premise and starts off pretty fun but I pretty much 100% it and it was very repetitive about half way through since you're going through the same areas most of the time.
It's OK. Probably 3rd of the 4 dlc's. It introduces some fun weapons, but the environments are really boring, the new characters are annoying, and the enemy variety is *really* lacking. It was really nice to have hyperion bots back as an enemy type after they were absent from the base game but... literally the only enemies you fight are those bots and generic psychos/bandits. I would have really liked some novel enemies!
It's okay, not the best DLC despite the reviews saying otherwise. It was fun though
Very good DLC! And it last some hours. 5-6 i think or more, and very nice Moxxi boobs
Gear up with shock and corrosion, the Hyperion bots are back! Overall, a good addition to Borderlands 3. Lots of ground to cover, lots of loot and bosses to fight.
And the best part - you get to kill around 100 claptraps in one battle. Admit it - you've dreamt about this. In fact, it's the only place in this game where you have to hear claptrap.
BEST DLC OF ALL 4!!!
Funny and goooood!
Step 1: Buy DLC
Step 2: Beat DLC
Step 3: Get 300/90 Ion Cannon
Step 4: Kill God
Step 5: ???
Step 6: Profit
Randy Bishfork's version of Dead Money meets Bioshock. Way better than the base game
Very fun DLC. I loved the setting and the story along with it.
Casino heist in space! Lots of money to collect lots of warehouses to pillage, but due to the rest of this 'super deluxe' package.
2K worth of no.
Good DLC, for those who miss BL2. Nice return of the old characters
Plot is straightforward and simple with quite monotonous locations.
One of the longest DLC of the first year.
Few good and unique weapons.
Not as good as most of the bl2 dlcs, I was shocked that there were no new interesting mob types, there were some cool bosses/minibosses, but most of the dlc combat was with things we have fought many many times before, thats a bummer. The maps didn't have the same level of clutter and homemade feel as the core game, which for a casino I don't know I wanted litter everywere, or just somewere besides the trashlantis zone (which I enjoyed). The NPCS and story were pretty alright.
+ Locations are unique and detailed
+ Straightforward enjoyable plot
+ Return of Timothy
+ Somewhat enjoyable side missions
+ Cool bosses
+ Pretty long (5+ hours)
- All of the new characters are awful
- Antagonist is forgettable
- Not much enemy variety
One of the better DLCs in the game. A straightforward heist plot with some terrible new characters and a pretty lackluster antagonist. The casino itself is very detailed and fun to roam around. And it's always nice to see/hear Handsome Jack again. This DLC is actually worth it to buy standalone if you don't own the season pass.
8/10
BS stories, BS weapons, and this DLC made Zane crazy and all other characters trash. Playing that handsome Jack card huh?
The first and arguarbly the best of the intial first year of Borderlands 3 Season Pass DLC, the best way to describe this is a Heist Movie set in the Borderlands universe featuring everyone's favourite antagonist... or at least, Handsome Jack's legacy (given this is the fourth game he's appeared in and he died in the game he was introduced, he's not doing that bad).
Handsome Jack's Handsome Jackpot is basically Las Vegas in Space that, with his death, trapped everyone who was there and they've basically gone feral. Add in the Hyperion Loader forces from B2 (remember to pack some corrosive weapons) and Moxxi as your narrative lead, and you have yourself a hilarious if predictable jaunt into a new part of the universe.
Loot is... decent, later DLC did this better but others did it worse. Zane mains will find the best class mod available here and there's a fantastic heavy weapon that still stands as the game's single most powerful shot, but there's also lots of gimmicky nonsense that you'll pick up, use once or twice then vault it. The new characters introduced (like a pyromaniac cyborg french exotic dancer and some weird communist preacher guy) are uniformly excellent.
I don't buy into all the stuff about how B3's story was literally the worst thing in history but regardless of what you thought of it, the storyline here is better. As with all the DLC, it's best purchased as part of the season pass.
A very fun romp through a space casino.
It manages to feel very Borderlands-y without overstaying its welcome. It is very silly and provided my friends and me with hours of entertainment. The loot is generally awesome and the story is shockingly decent.
Overall, worth the full price.
It was pretty damn good, there was a werid feeling playing through it, almost like it was a homage to the Borderlands 2 days but its own thing too, felt like a sad version of nostalgia.
I don't know what i'm talking about.
Great DLC, but don't buy it here, its way too overpriced, get the season pass
Borderlands 3's story was quite hit and miss with it's DLC's also being mostly negative. However, Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot to me is the only one worth playing of them all because it's really, really good.
PRO
- The Handsome Jackpot is a fantastic setting. It's basically another museum Jack dedicated to himself full of his sadistic tendancies and enjoyment of others suffering. Oh, how I've missed him...
- The music that plays throughout is really, really good!
- There's some pretty great weapons throughout.
- The story of stealing the casino itself was pretty cool. Inside you see what happened to the people when Handsome Jack was killed and it's pretty interesting.
- A favourite character of mine returns in this and I was so happy to see them!
- I was playing on Mayhem 5 and it was worth it her with the amount of places that give out money. By the end of the DLC I had about 7 million. If I didn't open the VIP doors/died then it probably would have been more around 10-15 million.
- For this DLC you're looking at around 6-8 hours which is a great playtime.
NEUTRAL
- The last boss was fun but was kinda easy. I was playing as Moze and using Iron Bear which is pretty strong but still felt like there should have been more of a challenge.
CON
- Some voice lines kept playing when loading into areas. Bit annoying as it can disrupt main character story dialogue.
- Subtitles just disappeared for no reason so it was hard to hear some people at times.
If you're looking to continue your Borderlands 3 adventure then I'd say just skip the season pass and only go for this one if you're looking for story content. Great length and story.
I enjoyed the shit out it............
Best DLC borderlands has put out by far
Aww, you wanna get on the choo choo?
As if BL2 and BL3 had an autistic baby...
And money.
had handsome jack in the opening cutscene
You sure know how to make a girl feel special, sugar.
DEFANETLY RECOMMEND! this DLC is great because it shows the after math of some of Borderlands 2.
The best dlc out of the borderlands 3 bunch
Easily the best DLC this game has received. Great story and environments, fully committing to the casino aesthetic, even including blackjack gambling for loot. Incredible loot, particularly for Zane mains as this contains a class mod so powerful, you'd be hard pressed to find a build that doesn't use it. Honestly felt like the closest Borderlands 3 has got to Borderlands 2 in writing quality, and a solid 10 hours of content to enjoy. 9/10.
Really good dlc. Apart from some of the characters in it. It's nice that they brought timmothy back. A very cool character and you can tell Jack is still around everywhere with this. One of the best stories.
The only DLC i recommend on this game, amazing area, lovely story, cool fights and amazing ending. Still, BL3 is dead
The only good DLC. What happened to Borderlands. They didn't even try to hire a writer so the Borderlands one guy came back and we got more shit story. Then the DLC is a giant pile of shit and they even double it with another season of nothing but shit.
and where did that bring you?Back to me
-handsome jack
I have a lot of fun with the DLC!
you have to kill a whole army of claptraps. whether that's good or bad is up to you, but i know it's probably good.
Every now and then you get DLC that's better than the base game. This is one such case.
It's the pre-sequel's sequel... whatever that means!!!
A casino floating in space with mountains of cash from all over the galaxy, and the big HJ's face is written all over the place, have you ever wondered how rich and evil Handsome Jack was before his demise?
This content will reveal all that, it comes all together near the end and it becomes rich with explanation, especially with how many loader bots you had to kill throughout the series!
There are new weapons here and there but don't expect much, I believe this one is for the story and helping Mox get back what's hers, there is a villain about and a familiar pre-sequel character making a comeback!
The world in this story is pretty big, larger than some, somewhat linear but that all makes up for it.
Certainly worth getting for the price, unless you find it cheaper or on sale!
A lot of people like this one but I experienced the most bugs out of any of the Borderlands 3 content here. Story wise its a good dlc, but I had a lot of issues like falling through terrain, quests locking up and requiring me to reload the game or join someone else, strange sound issues causing things to either mute or play on repeat. Overall this one seemed a bit of a mess for me even if it probably had the most coherent writing in all of borderlands 3.
This one was fun. Felt a little uneasy about the reuse of handsome jacck, again, but the levels were fun, good boss fights, good loot, and it played really well with the cartels event. Good DLC
Considered the best DLC of Borderlands 3 because.... idk. It carries all of the good qualities from the base game over and also carries all of the bad ones. So, I guess it is a good Borderlands 3 DLC. Just, nothing too memorable.
Boring characters, boring environment.
Jokes are overplayed and waste your time intentionally.
I heard this was the good DLC for this game, it really isn't.
Really good, adds a bunch of new guns, quests and I really liked seeing Timothy again.
Pretty good ambience of the casino ngl
This is the perfect example of a DLC being more complex, interesting and detailed than the main game.
10/10 would simp for Jack again.
Las Vegas in space. Also, is it Handsome Jack or not?
This DLC is better than the base game. It’s awesome.
Man they did my guy Handsome Jack Body Double dirty :(
Also I don't get it I thought a lot of people didn't like the Pre-Sequel so why base an entire DLC off of it?
Better than the base game in it's entirety
If you felt like the main game's story was lackluster, get this.
The writing, cast, and style beat the snot out of the main game.
i love Ember (and everybody else in this dlc)
Eh. Not that its bad its a good dlc don't get me wrong but i just didn't enjoy it as much. I thought some parts of it were frankly disconnected and it kinda seemed like we weren't making progress towards our actual goal at some point. Although i didn't like it it's still good.
This is such an amazing DLC, I highly recommend you buy this one. It had a nice story, a ton of new places to go to, and a ton of new enemies. 8/10
Back in my day, in the old pen and paper Dungeons & Dragons days, we'd call this a "Monty Haul" campaign.
This DLC is pretty much an ATM to print money. I pulled over 80 million at lvl 52 - 56 on Normal difficulty and was able to nearly buy out all the SDU's at Marcus's.
The story itself is decent, and it had a nice, constant onslaught of enemies. Bosses were nowhere near the difficulty spikes of the Krieg DLC. Lots of fiery Moxxi and comical biting sarcasm of Handsome Jack and pseudo Handsome Jack.
It was a fun romp. Nothing overly complicated or difficult and you end up rich beyond your wildest dreams in a surreal voyeuristic feeling love-hate escapades between Moxxi and Handsome Jack body double Timothy, in the house that the original Jack built and still lords over.
Moxxi’s Heist DLC is a fun story taking place in a Hyperion Casino with several instances of Handsome Jack's return through past recordings of himself. Story is actually better than the main game, short and fun, lots of money, hyperion loader bots return, Jack’s body double from the presequel returns, and lots of fun yes much yes.
+Short & sweet a lot like my peen
+Good way to make a lot of money and to lose a lot of money
+Several chests require you to play blackjack in order to get better loot depending how well you play
+Killer slot machines
+A group of killer claptraps
+Timothy Jack’s body double from the pre-sequel returns which is dope
+Lots of Handsome Jack
+Several new locations and the overall premise of a Hyperion casino in space is awesome and I honestly just loved returning to a Hyperion owned location with tons of loader bots
+Return of Hyperion enemies… just loader bots but still awesome
+Several side quests and side activities
+New cosmetics
+No Ava
+Not enabling mayhem difficulty and the enemies don't scale to your level making it insanely easy lol… make this is a con idc
+Cool final boss
+Mr.Torgue
+Little badass loader bots that rarely come out of loot boxes
-The quest “Raging Bot” can be unbalanced if playing on higher mayhem difficulties as you have to bet then watch 2 robots fight each other however on higher mayhem difficulties their health is so high that they literally take like 5+ minutes to kill one another… you then have to do this twice
-One of the first dialogues from Freddie about killing loader bots plays again and again typically whenever you enter a new area
-$15 seems a bit much.. wait for sale or buy the season pass
This heist was awesome coming back to Hyperion and Handsome Jack was great as well as seeing what happened to Timothy after the prequel was really unexpected and so awesome that they did something with him. Something uplifting when coming from the downfall of the main game's story. Fun short, kinda over priced but worth it.
Starting cutscene with "Fabricator" teleported me halfway across map, forcing me to run again to fight it. Annoying.
Generally feels like there is huge lack of polish.
Obrigado por ter feito esse jogo o MELHOR JOGO da SÉRIe BORDERLANDS!!!!!!
well this was ok at best. while it was fun seeing handsome jack back (or at least some parts of him) the story was a bit weak but i had fun
also theres a bug...an annoying bug and i pray u dont get that bug
Yei or nai ? Started with a Yei and went downhill. In short: Annoying mobs followed by supereasy bossfights.
Story is a solid: Meh,,,,
A solid dlc. Better than the main game. I don't even mind Freddie repeating the same voice line when I spawn in or travel to another area that much.
my brain kinda shut off, but when stuff does actually happen it's fun, and also good loot and funny slots
This DLC is pretty good!
The characters are more quirkier than ever. I actually care about Timothy as well!
The Last Boss, I was very interested and i thought the abilities were pretty cool tbh
The MUSIC is pretty good, i didn't really drone out when it came to battling. Well thats because, it's my type of music.
It is nice to see and hear Handsome Jack back though, since he died.
The ending was pretty satisfying
The Scraptrap part was a bit creepy, interestingly enough.
Cons/Disappointments/Nitpicks:
However, the places within the casino are kinda boring. I wanted more neon and vibrant colors within the city. The red light district isnt even all that when it comes to design.
The places arent unique compared to the other DLC. There are some additional newer enemies. But majority of the time they're just robots like from Borderlands 2. Unfortunately thats kinda wack imo.
I kinda thought the trying to get a whole crew was kinda of a drag and kinda long. I didn't care about Freddie, Ember, or the Trash Mayor guy.
Wish the NPCs would actually help you in battle more, but nope. They barely participate.
Is this DLC worth full price?
>Nah, im cheap. not worth
I heard this was the only DLC for the game that was fairly decent, so i bought it.
I liked it more than the base game, which isnt all that impressive, like others have mentioned. It has better pacing: there are no cars (car centric city infrastructure - the game) and you get to shoot and loot without being interrupted by the godawful storytelling as much.
I didn't get anything out of the story because you can just delete the voice dialogue from the game lmao
I'm sorry but this dlc is awf-sauce (that means awfuL) I think it only good cuz my friend peyton says it got handsome jackson in it. But! besides that, it is so boring, you do a heist plan for no reason just for it to barely even get used into play, rather they execute poorly. I think, wait I know that the blood hunter dlc is so cooler. I like it more, it is nice. soothing.
5/10 - boring and stupid, nobody likes killing robots in video games, it is so stupid EFF this dlc.
More Handsome Jack and Mad Moxxi? We are truly not worthy.
RIP Butt Stallion you were ride or die for real...
I enjoyed this dlc more than the rest of the game combined.
8/10
need more loot, i just broke into a casino vault ffs
Its good and i liked it a lot.
One of the best story DLCs by far, I've got Fallout New Vegas vibe from this.
Devs do need to fix The Digbys Smooth Tube gun making no sound and Freddie voice line glitch where this mf constantly talks about killing his robots and fixing it when fast traveling.
Jack is back babyyyy Lots of fiery Moxxi and comical biting sarcasm of Handsome Jack and pseudo Handsome Jack.
Its a fun romp.
i'd clap Moxxi's cheeks so hard
I really hate BL3 writing and the SJW shit tied to it, but this DLC actually feels like someone at GB gave a damn. Michael McCann killed it with the soundtrack, as always. The music is so good it's beyond belief.
This was a excellent conclusion to Moxxi and her story, had a lot of fun playing this DLC.
on the shitter end of DLC for borderlnds
This is the first released DLC, and it has about 10h of content (including sidequests and collectibles).
And I loved it!!!
Bringing back the whole Handsome Jack theme IS fan-service, but I was impressed with how really well made it was! The theme is not overused; there are a couple of his dialogues here and there, but the story manages to revolve around something really interesting: the life of his doublé after he died in BL2. Yes, the playable character Doppelganger from The Pre Sequel is here in this DLC, and without too much spoilers, we get to see how he finds out his own personality after his job ceased to be.
A short and sweet adventure full of nice quests and filled with that Hyperion nostalgia from BL2. Can't get much better than this!!
A BL2-esque DLC that while is a little short imo, theres alot of new content here and fun stuff in general. Its completely worth buying in my opinion if you already enjoy BL3, but want a little more.
Haven't played all 4 DLCs yet but so far this is the best with plenty of nostalgia for Borderlands 2 fans!
Cool DLC, better than the main story
