The game that killed a franchise

I bought F.E.A.R. 2 just so I could play this expansion pack since I'd heard a couple people say they thought it was better than the base game of F.E.A.R. 2 so I was curious to try it. The environments here actually look like a F.E.A.R. game, in that the lighting is very well done. The dark areas contrast nicely with the harsh tones of light. Aside from a couple of other creative parts the game fails to do anything meaningful. I'm not going to talk about the story for this one. What I thought was interesting was this expansion along with project origin is what made the dev studio quit making FPS. It makes sense, there is no strategy to any part of the combat at all. I've decided to break down each problem with combat into a numbered list:

1. You can't lean around corners when behind cover unlike the first game. It makes actually shooting from cover useless.

2. Enemy AI can somehow knows where you are at all times even if you are behind them. I had an enemy call out that he spotted me even though he was looking forward and I was behind him! Contrast this with the first game where you could actually get the drop on the replica soldiers. The replicas are no longer as intelligent and will just run out in the open instead of in the first game where they mostly relied on cover and could wait and try to draw you out of cover.

3. You can aim down the sights of every gun, which turns this game into another COD clone (COD was also f u c k i n g garbage from the very first game and always has been.) None of the weapons present anything unique, and the ones that do are just copies of guns from the first F.E.A.R. game like the hammerhead. Or the laser which is a blatant copy of the one from extraction point.

There's a myriad of other problems I could go over, but really that's all you need. As I stated before this was the last monolith made F.E.A.R. game and good riddance! This franchise should stay dead after the atrocity that was project origin. I won't talk about the third game, since by the point they made that it was far beyond redemption. I just wanted to get this off my chest since it's been on my mind for a couple of months.

F.E.A.R. 2 Reborn is the only DLC for the game, also released in 2009.

This time the player plays Replica Soldier 813,
dropped on the roof of a building under construction, aboard his Powered Armor.
Your mission is to destroy all the Armacham infantry present in the area,
and take over the Replica command post.
But strange interference is confusing communication with the rest of the squad,
while infernal hallucinations come to you...
A supernatural but familiar voice calls to you and asks you to free him.
Even if it goes against the orders you received...

This expansion is clearly more action-oriented than the base game.
The atmosphere is dark, brutal and immersive,
the settings are intended to be more original in addition to being very apocalyptic.
The level design is simple and intuitive.

This DLC does not bother with useless chatter,
and focuses on what the franchise does best:
intense gunfights and the paranormal.

The only things we can criticize about Reborn are:
- its short duration, since it takes less than an hour to complete the extension,
- its absence of dubbing in languages other than English,
- its lack of new weapons and creatures.

It almost seems like Monolith were trying to make amends.
This F.E.A.R. 2 Reborn is a quality DLC.
It's still a shame that this isn't the case with the base game.

Hasturtium

Short and sweet DLC for FEAR 2 doesn’t have a dull moment, doesn’t outstay its welcome, and gives you more quality time with Paxton Ferrell. No complaints - it’s a more focused and better experience than FEAR 2, and I wish Monolith pursued the storyline offered here versus the edgelord idiot mess Day 1 gave us in FEAR 3.

UX1.73C
UX1.73C

This downloadable content provides a passable gaming experience, despite its limited duration, and has a coherent narrative that is consistent with the F.E.A.R. timeline. It also offers an intriguing feature of playing as the antagonist, yet still being the sole operative assigned to accomplish highly challenging objectives. Nonetheless, F.E.A.R. 2: Reborn's value is diminished by its age and lack of content, and therefore it is advisable to purchase it only when it is discounted.

*Warning: spoilers*

Nice but short add-on to the orignal game.

The DLC, F.E.A.R. 2 Reborn, adds four new levels, in which you play as a Replica soldier. It is a fun change and diversion from the main game.

They even added the original health meters and HUD from the first games. The rest of the mechanics are all the same as the original game.

You play as Foxtrot 813, one of the many Replica soldiers that all mindlessly follow orders and attack anything if commanded, but not you. You are a special boy.
Something that Paxton Fettel explains to you throughout the game.

You go rogue and the whole Replica army turns against you. You need to escape and find Fettel to become his personal vessel. After you find him, Fettel takes control of your body and he is, you guessed it, reborn.

The DLC is fun but very short. Nevertheless, it adds a nice piece of story to the game.

Infinity II
Infinity II

Nice little expansion which tells the story of the main game from another perspective. It is definitely worth playing if you liked F.E.A.R. 2 and you got it with a bundle or very cheap as it is sadly very very short.

Comfy Cherry
Comfy Cherry

On average I think this had better fights than the main game, the story on the other hand is almost non existent here.
If you like shooting enemies in the base game then the DLC will be quite fun, as it is only available in the, rather expensive, "complete pack" I would only recommend getting this if you want everything else (though I imagine if you have F.E.A.R 2, you probably already have F.E.A.R which is only available in the pack [unless you got it with a key, if that's even possible])

Jozinek
Jozinek

Important notes before I begin the review: This DLC’s settings will be exactly the same as the ones for the base game, so if you already have the appropriate settings for that, you have nothing to worry about in terms of performance, sound, etc. Also, the way you play it is by selecting "Start", then "Singleplayer", then clicking on either of the two arrows next to the base game campaign to select the DLC. That’s about it; let’s begin.

F.E.A.R. 2: Reborn is a short DLC expansion for F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin. You play as a Replica soldier called Foxtrot 813, who is sent via orbital strike into the destroyed city of Fairport. Things start off fairly standard for the mission, with Foxtrot fighting alongside his comrades against Black Ops soldiers. However, things later take a turn when he starts hearing the voice of an eerie stranger, beckoning him to abandon his orders and come closer to the centre of the destruction. That’s really all there is to it. It’s quite an interesting plot in a short expansion. The gameplay, weapons, visuals, etc. are pretty much all the same as they are in the base game. There are some nice set pieces, like the one in the destroyed office blocks and the small plywood maze. It’s just a fun, brief, competently made DLC that exists to establish something about the next game (which I won’t spoil).

Overall, F.E.A.R. 2: Reborn is worth your time, I’d say. Even if you don’t enjoy it, you won’t be losing much.

Final verdict: 7.5/10 "You are meaningless now. You are ghosts."

I haven't played F.E.A.R 2 for a decade, but I did play it frequently back then, but no chance of remembering much tbh. Anyway. To even get to this DLC, I had to rebuy all the games in the pack. Luckily it was sale, and it didn't cost very much. Still, I'm pretty sure I would have finished 2 beers in the time I would complete this DLC.

ANYWAY! I am gonna be really honest. This was really short, but it was amazing...REALLY AMAZING. I didn't understand much of the story until the very end, but I did enjoy the weapons and the enemies, even though the layout of everything was pretty...well you can see yourself....I love the weapons, and I love the slowtimer...but do you know what I like even better....SPLATTING enemies by shooting them, my favorite part in the head!

To finish this review...F.E.A.R used to be scarier when I was younger, but so did so much other games and movies. Now I can easily watch horror movies while eating my dinner, almost no matter what I watch. Back then I remember my buddy playing F.E.A.R (1), and he would quit only after 10 minutes because of a body falling from the roof to the ground. I remember getting a bit freaked out over a bloody room, but it's not like that anymore. Not very scary now.

Oh one more thing. Does this game look better than F.E.A.R 3? I did play it for a few hours, but even this DLC felt much better made! I'll give this DLC a like, but it should have been available to anyone with the main game.

Button Eyes

F.E.A.R. 2: Reborn is a DLC for F.E.A.R.2: Project Origin, unrelated to the main game but it sets up the sequel. You play as Replica soldier codenamed Foxtrot 813, who heeds the call of Paxton Fettel, the antagonist of the first game. He abandons his team and is hunted down as he tries to reach his mysterious caller. One interesting thing is that Foxtrot 813 is so far the only voiced main protagonist, although he only speaks near the beginning of the game. He also gets the slow-mo ability later on, how long it lasts strangely depends on how many you find in the main game.

Gameplay is the same, almost identical even, with the main game. There are no new mechanics, enemy types, or weapons. Only difference is the HUD, which is more Replica-themed, and they removed the collectible documents and boosters. What saddens me the most is its length, its very short, and takes less than 2 hours to finish, compared to the pretty lengthy expansions of the first game. But I think F.E.A.R. 2: Reborn is still worth a try, especially considering Fettel is like a central character in the franchise.

This is more of a run and gun DLC, it continues the story of Fettal and his mind controlled army. It was not as scary as the original game so don't come into it excepting that. There are only 5 Intervals to complete. The story is like a interactive movie that you play in. The action is mostly shooting everything in your sites. There are in-game achievements to go along with this DLC. The whole story took me about a hour to complete. Its like as long as a movie would be. There aren't any new weapons to be had, just more of the story. Its was fun to beat but make sure to get this one on sale if your interested. It was alot of fun and I recommend it to anyone ready to run and gun through a story.

It's super short. It's not worth $10 or even $5... if you have FEAR 2, pick it up for $2 if it's on sale. Otherwise pass.
More of the same.

F.E.A.R. 2 was disappointing. This DLC is even worse--bland, boring, and dull; a complete waste of time. Maybe 3 hours of gameplay at most.

DaNCeSWiTHBuLLeTS
DaNCeSWiTHBuLLeTS

My review of Project Origin may have been extremely critical, but make no mistake, it is a solid game. It may even be a great game, but just not when compared to the original.

More often than not, developers try to cash in by selling unnecessary additions to games in the vein of aesthetics or shoddy maps for a deserted multiplayer. Monolith is at least deserving of praise for creating a piece of downloadable content (arguably) worth acquiring.

Reborn puts you in the boots of a Replica Soldier (the enemies you fight in F.E.A.R.). As expected, you are no ordinary soldier. You are coaxed into partaking in a dangerous mission by the voice of Paxton Fettel (the series' antagonist).

Gameplay remains largely the same with bullet time being the main gimmick. This short campaign serves as a segue for Fattel's return in F.E.A.R. 3, adding some coherency to the franchise. While it isn't a must-buy, Reborn's presence is certainly appreciated.

I'm an odd ball I love the fear games a lot my fav is Perseus Mandate and this one i think it may be for the action and a look at the game world thru others eyes and not just the main guys . you get a feel of the over all happenigs of this game world and when you have something as story driven and deep as FEAR is you need games like this to show the whole story. The mech combat is fun would like to see more of it in later games. Could have been longer but it is what it is and it is good.

CorvusCorax
CorvusCorax

Reborn puts us in the shoes of a replica soldier who hears Paxton Fettel's voice. He orders us to free him so the game is pretty much about Fettel this time with little emphasis on Alma. Well, technically, Fettel wants to eliminate Alma so the mission is once more for the greater good and by joining Paxton we go rogue so the game still requires us to eliminate dozens of replica soldiers.

Unfortunately, Reborn is extremely short. Some of the locales are great and we get to enter a mech once more which is pretty cool but overall the game is very short. At this point 8 euros is too much for it and it does not really add anything interesting to the story.

Some of the achievements are interesting and hard to get (they go by the name "awards" and can be accessed from the main menu instead of using the Steam achievement system) and all in all the game offers a nice challenge for FEAR veterans.

Still, I do not recommend it - if you are a die hard FEAR fan (like myself) or the DLC is discounted you can purchase it otherwise steer clear from it.

This is mediocre at best. When you buy this you'll only get about an hour worth of content to play; would rather just watch a movie. When you do play this, the story is...well... pretty mediocre at best. You basically play as a replica soldier just doing his regular duty until he gets to the commander's outpost. When he does, he goes insace for about a minute until he realizes he killed like ten of his men in the process. Now he must run to where Paxton Fettel is leading him to and that's about it in a nutshell. Apart from that you just run and gun and kill anything that gets in your way. This game is so short that I would just recommend you skip it and rent a movie instead.

If you liked F.E.A.R. 2, you'll like this too. You'll see many exciting fights and scenes, including EPAs and my favorites, Replica Assassins (the cloaked ones with the cool light effects).
As others have said, it's very short though, so I'd only get it when it's on sale. For 3 bucks it's an excellent addition to an already great game.

AlmightyHeretic
AlmightyHeretic

This little add-on is fun but definitely not worth ten dollars. I wouldn't spend more than three dollars on it because you'd be lucky to get three hours out of it. The best part of Reborn is opening with the mech suit. If you don't want to blow your dough you're definitely not missing much here.

When you play 'Rebirth' mission, you can tell it's something made out of haste. You can feel something that is sort of vagueness during the process but it is still enjoyable. After all, these are additional missions. Closure, if you will. The biggest fun in this is I believe you get to play as one of the replicas. Enjoy.

+) High quality in graphics.
+) Thrilling battles.

-) Because of the high quality in graphics the battles have become smooth. Enough to make it lose the roughness it had in previous series.
-) You can definitely feel that this is made out of haste.

If you're really invested in the FEAR storyline, and REALLY need to know how Paxton Fettel got back into a physical form, then Reborn might be for you. This obvious and insulting moneygrab provides an interesting yet tiny (seriously tiny) snippet of information that bridges FEAR 2 and Futhreer, which you might consider important.

However if--like myself--you don't consider $10 a good investment for 45 minutes of your time, then you should give this one a pass or wait for the whole series to be on sale for like 5 dollars. The three main entries in the franchise are definitely worth your time. FEAR 2: Reborn is not, unless you get a seriously generous discount on a bundle.

Neveroddoreven
Neveroddoreven

F.E.A.R. 2 Reborn is the expansion, or rather "lack of expansion" to Project Origin. It does not add anything important to the story, and brings nothing new to the game, except for the story perception of being able to play the role of a rogue replica soldier. It is noteworthy to add that this is extremely short providing around an hour of game play. If at all, it may answer a question or two about the story, but nothing you couldn’t gather on your own.

Unfortunately not recommended.

I rate the game (add-on actually) F.E.A.R 2: Reborn 3/5. OK.

This is an intense, action-packed, generally loud, melodramatic, violent and extremely short add-on which effectively advances the overall story of the game. I'd think this was a pretty good add-on if it were only a lot longer than it is.

+Same adequate (and occasionally impressive) graphics
+Very intense and horrific action throughout
+The music is mostly adequate and pretty well done in a few places.
+The fast pacing and ever changing environmental situation is great fun.
+Not frustrating although it could have easily been but still fun and exciting.
+Nicely surrealistic in places.
+Advances the plot while showing yet a different perspective on things.

-Very short add-on. I finished this in just one moderate length gaming session
-So melodramatic it is often laughable. The voice acting of the voice commanding you reminded me of the voice of Gozer from Ghostbusters.
-Not very creepy.
-Mediocre sound.
-Extremely linear with only one ending.

F.E.A.R. 2 Reborn
-------------------

Pros

-Same overall from base game,
-Overturned building level is cool

Cons

-It took 1 hour to finish.
-Same overall from base game,
-New GUI is hard to read,
-No new enemy or weapon types
-Story makes no sense.
-There was only 1 mech section and 1 turret section.
-Enemies seem a bit weaker or the power armor is weaker,
-Ghost and fast enemies are annoying,
-No secret intel or upgrades but you are maxed out at start of game.
-Overall fells like discarded levels from Fear 2 that did not make the cut.

Really interesting idea to play as one of Replica sodiers, foxtrot 813. The story is surprisingly good. It's a side story for the main game with major character, Paxton Fettel in it. The gameplay is short as everybody said. But it sums up really well in such a short gameplay.

Pros: it does have a little story progression. One or two interesting level ideas.

Cons: only took me an hour and a half. No replayability. Too short for you to really get into it. Level design is just ok. Levels and meh GUI are the only new content. You get less than 10 minutes in a mech. You barely fight enemy mechs.

I recommend this only to those who feel compelled to play every single F.E.A.R. game.

It's incredibly short, especially for what they're charging. However for the little time spent in this add-on, it features more interesting level design, more fun combat sequences and more balanced gameplay than anything you'll see in F.E.A.R. 2's main campaign, and that is admirable enough to recommend it.

Reborn is just as good as FEAR 2, actually a little better/spookier, but it's very short. Buy this one on sale or as part of a bundle or something.

Didn't pay any attention to the multiplayer, I assume that it probably doesn't work because there's a GameSpy logo on it, but I didn't check, I don't care, I bought this only for the singleplayer game, which is excellent but short.

This DLC fills in the void of how Paxton came back in F.E.A.R. 2. It takes all the fun action bits of the base game and jam packs them into 2 hours of gameplay. There's a mech level for fans of the mech mechanics in F.E.AR. Fans of the series should definetly pick this up.

10 Dollars is a bit too much for such a short DLC. I recommend picking it up when it is 80% off or more.

Potato Chap
Potato Chap

This is an extemely short, story-based "campaign" that pretty much defeats its own purpose from the get-go. It is far too expensive for its length, only includes one "revelation" that would pertain to any sort of advancement in the main plot of the franchise (and I wouldn't call the story of F.E.A.R. to be a strong point), and almost every single encounter in the DLC feels like the cheapest and most annoying ones from the main game packed into a single set of garbage intervals. Hope you love snipers and spamming spark grenades!

I'm a big fan of the F.E.A.R. games, and this game is no exception. It may be short, but to me, it's worth it. I'll give a short summery of the game, but beware of spoilers. The game is set, sometime during or after the events of F.E.A.R. 2. You play a Replica, Foxtrot 813, who is on a mission to assist a Replica Force that is being over run by ATC Black OPS Squads. The game will open up right in the middle of a fight, with you in an EPA or Elite Power Armor, a giant mech with big chain guns and rockets. As you fight through squads of enemies, you then arrive at your location and have to proceed on foot, with the help of small Replica squads. Some of them get killed before you can help them, but that's war. Anyway, once you make it to your location, you have to fix a radio, which is only receiving interference. Once you touch the radio however, someone starts to control you and makes you think your allies are ghosts, attacking you. When you come out of your "dream," there are several other Replicas in the room, looking at the bodies of their fallen comrades. Anyway, after this point, you fight Replicas and several supernatural enemies from the Project Origins campaign for the duration of the game, while you yet again try to avoid Alma and find your master.

This expansion pack is more of the same, nothing new from the main game, except the HUD is better. It provides an extremely minor piece of story that can be summed up in a couple of words. If it's bundled in there, sure, but don't go out of your way for this DLC.

The DLC is priced far higher than the base game despite being maybe a 1/10 of the size. (That is, if I recall correctly.) There is absolutely no reason for this. Weirdly enough, this DLC is priced WAY higher than the main game... I'll get to this later. In Reborn, you get to play as one of these generic replica troopers. Number 813, to be precise. And it doesn't deliver a compelling and an interesting story that the price leads you to believe. Reborn isn’t worth the money at all. You'll complete it in two hours(or less), the story never goes beyond adding bloody exclamation marks to the phrase 'He's back!', and the content is entirely recycled gameplay concepts in faintly familiar environments. You're honestly not missing out on anything if you don't play it, and DON'T play it. I got it from the bundle when it was on sale, so it was nearly free for me. But I wouldn't recommend this DLC to you if you want to get it for story purposes... THERE IS NO STORY! Technically there is but it's not a must for you. Save your money.

This is where F.E.A.R.'s story ends for me.
Even though this was a short DLC, I loved it!
It tells the story of how Paxton Fettel comes back to life -> "Reborn".

From what I can tell, Alma Wade used Fettel for her own needs in the first game.
And now Fettel sees his mother as an enemy.

This can be a real challenge, if you play on hard difficulty!

Pretend that the third game never happened!
Or if you do not, then it's kinda weird 'cause that game doesn't follow the story correctly.
That is, if you know the story pretty well.

I recommend buying this from GOG!

I got this along with the whole FEAR pack of games when I bought it for like $5, so money really isn't a consideration here. I'd say it's only worth $5 at most due to how short it is, but it was enjoyable. About an hour or so worth of gameplay. Continues the story post FEAR 2 to bridge the gap between FEAR 2 and FEAR 3.

This DLC was pretty much what the base game should've been, the level design feels much closer to the OG FEAR that being tight hallways that give the AI freedom to use it to its advantage. The very start of the DLC throwing you into a Mech was a nice tough, giving you abit of a power fantasy feel right before you're locked into ground combat the entire game. My only problem with this DLC is it's way, way to short like 1 hour total which is a shame because it really got everything right even down to playing as a Replica Soldier with a group for just that short moment, felt so cool and wish it did more with it.

I do recommend this DLC though, even if you don't like F.E.A.R 2 in general i feel the DLC is a step in the right direction.

The expansion is very short and overpriced at its standard (I believe original price) $10. There is a tiny chunk of story in here but it does not go far in the slightest. There are 4 missions that are about 15-20 minutes in length each and that is it. There are really no aspects of horror here, just fun combat missions. If you get the F.E.A.R. franchise for a great price, then feel free to try this one, but don't go out of your way to obtain it and play it.

Reborn is a fairly short expansion for FEAR 2: Project Origin that puts you in the eyes of the Replica, the soldiers controlled by psychic leaders breed for war and previously Paxton Fettle himself whose Phantom status allows him to talk to a very special Replica who you avatar as. Spoilers will appear so be forewarned.

Reborn is a standard-fare FPS expansion with a much greater focus on vertical level design, giving the game's namesake a stronger meaning when you fall from the buildings less than stellar level design or get a face full of buckshot around the corner and press the restart. The thing however you'll F.E.A.R more is the butchering of the storyline in spoiler tags below.

The main focus of FEAR 2: REBORN is to resurrect Paxton Fettle by fighting the Replica soldiers and ATC forces so he can psychically force himself into the player, snuffing your avatar's brain waves out replacing it with his own, adding salt to a grevious injury. Hence the name "Reborn". Then the game ends with Paxton Fettle doing what he does best giving a handwave explanation of his new existence and then...being Pointman's pain in the áss once more which I am 100% sure was an excuse to cashcow the series onward for F.E.A.R 3.

Gameplay feels quite uninspired, very unfurnished and lacking new diversity for enemies and weapons alike and makes plotline changes that would definitely suit a newcomer but hardly a veteran of FEAR would feel like this is a morsel of what should've been a fully fledged experience. If it was maybe longer, introduced the classical weapons from F.E.A.R and gave us a bit more explanation on top of a stronger homage to the first game, I'd rate this one a strong positive but I F.E.A.R it is too late and that I must say "You've Been Killed!"

Fear 2 reborn is better than standard Fear 2. Despite being so short of a campaign it was very entertaining to me. I feel like the fact that you play as a replica soldier is what makes this so fun.

The DLC isn't $55, it's just in a bundle. DLC can't be bought solo anymore. Lets be real, the only reason your probably here in the first place is because you bought the F.E.A.R. complete pack.

Anyway, I like this, neat little DLC, beat it in 1.5 hours. Alot of people say "more of the same" but im okay with that. More FEAR is more FEAR, im not complaining. If you want more FEAR 2, here it is. Story answers afew questions. I always wondered who the clone soldiers were clones of, and we find that out here. It also links up with 3 and explains some of the changes in FEAR 3.

The war has begun, just as I dreamed it would. Just as I foresaw. The time has come to awaken! To be... reborn

I usually do not cover a separate review for DLCs and expansions but I made an exception with F.E.A.R Reborn because I loved it! It’s a very fun dlc. It’s only an hour long (you could finish it in less than 45 minutes if you’re very good!) and despite the short length I’m not disappointed. I’ve enjoyed it more than the base game and it’s rare to have such great fun with expansion. Reborn has a bigger focus on action and the pacing is very fast yet doesn’t feel rushed. If you’re expecting this to be Perseus Mandate and Extraction Point like experience then you’re going to be terribly disappointed with short length and heavy focus on action.

You play as a replicant soldier this time around. Things go even wilder and supernatural in the background with an apocalyptic and destructive chaos. The story is very straightforward and very silly. It doesn’t mean the story is bad in any shape or form because it’s story surprisingly works effectively well. Minos spoilers ahead!! They brought back Paxton Fettel from the first game and yes, he is alive, reasons unknown? You’re controlled by him and your mission is simple. Set Fettel free…. that’s it! Reborn delivers a tense final battle and a true climax that will have you pining for a sequel, which is in pleasant contrast to F.E.A.R. 2's final WTF?? moment, which probably left me more confused and disappointed. With Reborn It seemed like they were trying to set a foundation for Fear 3.

Although the developers resorted to reused assets from the main game, I expected them to just recycle the same environments and locations and the good news is that they didn’t!! It’s not very perfect though. I’m not a hundred percent sure about this but enemy A.I seemed to be slightly toned down and acted a lot dumber. Graphics also looked worse especially in cutscenes and background. There aren’t any new enemy types so you’ll still be fighting the same Armacham’s soldiers, feral creatures, ghosts, mini bosses and assassins. Reborn lacks the tense creepy atmosphere from the Project Origins. It also doesn't provide any real creep-outs or scary scenes.

In spite of some minor setbacks, I got more than what I expected. The dlc retains the same gameplay from F.E.A.R 2 with minor touches here and there. The short story provides a more gratifying bridge to the sequel and I think that’s cool!

My Rating: 8/10

While Reborn isn't bad, it's definitely not worth the insane price of fifty-five dollars. Even if it was five dollars, considering that it takes like a half hour to beat, I wouldn't recommend it. Unless you manage to get this for free, I wouldn't bother with it.

a short independent dlc that weakened the plot and enhanced the difficulty of the battle, all the story could just be ignored and u just go fuck everyone up, sounds no bad right? BUT DID THEY FORGOT THAT THEY HAVEN'T EVEN FINISH THE STORY OF THE MAIN GAME? Instead of the complement of the story they just made a short and bored as shit dlc, what a genius idea, the whole FEAR2 is a fxxking JOKE

This bite-sized DLC puts you in the pants of Replica Soldier Foxtrot 813 -- a sub-orbital drop trooper with a mech & a mean streak...
Paxton Fettel's ghost is on the loose, and he has plans for his troops.

Not much to say about this thing. It's short.
What map areas aren't just a re-tread are embarrassingly bare-bones in the guise of 'construction sites'.

WAKE UP!

My personal favorite piece of F.E.A.R. media, and yes that counts the first game and it's expansions.Sure, the first game is god-tier and Extraction Point is a banger, but one of their strengths is also a weakness when comparing against F.E.A.R. 2 Reborn: their length. It's awesome that F.E.A.R. 1 gives you a lot of bang for your buck. Same can be said for Extraction Point (and to a lesser extent, Perseus Mandate as well) but the Reborn DLC is such an action-packed, immersive & concise package that the other longer titles can't compete.

Sure, I would have liked a DLC longer than 55 minutes or however long I played it (left it running for a bit so I didn't get a clear read on that. SSD died and I restarted once also) but if it was longer than an hour it would have started to drag or they may have run out of ideas. As good as the original + expansions was, there were parts that dragged on in all of them. Perseus Mandate was ALL drag time. A Drag Race, one might say. A Drag Queen, even.

Play F.E.A.R. 2 Reborn.

The expansion i recommend you get when its on sale as 10 bucks for 3 maps is too much but it does put you in
as a replicant pretty dope and you get to see jets bomb run and shoot down helicopters.

it was a nice addition to the game but it kinda served no purpose to the game's main story as far as I'm aware.

Hot garbage. One of those "throw everything at the player" deals.

sard3379

Pure garbage bundle from Scammer Bros which thinks is very clever by unlisting the first game of the series and forcing you to buy the whole bundle in order to have access to the unavailable titles.

Just remember, never never never make a steam backup of the first game or at least change the name of the folder. Why? Because idiot devs don't know when they choose the name (F.E.A.R.) for their game, windows will identify its folder as a (.R) format file and you can't never delete it by any means (tried multiple cmd commands and other solutions of internet but none of them works). Now I just have 2 empty useless folders on my system.

My review for the bundle: All of the games are just crashing randomly. DLCs of the first game are not included in the main game itself, means you have to launch them separately which will cause having multiple different profiles. So you have to change everything again! Controls, Settings, ...
