Unlike the other DLCs, this one is quite simple and easy. Maybe too much.... the first two chapters barely lasted me 10 minutes, and the third one is when the first challenge was posed. Although the part concerning the world of Lovecraft and especially Ctulhu and his submerged temple, is quite good, the truth is, at the end it has managed to get me to smile.
I don't recommend it unless you get it at a good discount.

Great DLC, i really enjoyed it. I played it co-op with 1 friend (Pekka). and it went great, there are new enemies new areas new robes new weapons and ofcourse new and re used jokes. It is worth buying although one thing is that, it is kinda short.

Well worth it for just the humor! Gotta love the cultists.

Worst DLC out of all of them.

Major Disappointment

Don't buy this. The devs don't care about Magicka, so they wont fix any of the game breaking glitches (games crashing, unable to actually start the game, no MP working etc).

This one crashes when you try to unlock the gate.

It's great fun until the bugs make the game crash. Not worth €5,99.

This game has so much potential but there are huge bugs in the 3rd chapter which prevent you from completing the game. We tried several times and tried different ways but it was no use. Do not buy this DLC, it is kinda wasted money. Very sad, it has so much potential to be a good one.

This dlc came with complete pack. But I did not like the main game so this is the same. It even crashes in the 3 chapter boss.... maybe someone will like this.

Too short (1hour), a lots of bug. The level design is not well think ( I miss the levitation spell so I was f***d) and the boss is outrageously difficult, I had to cheat with my mate to kill it (by alt-tabbing so it the bad guy froze and he could kill it).
It's not worth the 6 bucks

Probs to Paradox for not fixing a gamebreaking bug that has been in since release. Smooth.

Its good, but I have to give negative review because of bug I experienced causing crashing when loading the next section, chapter 3 in ice caverns. Plenty of people experienced this but its still not been fixed. Doubt it will ever be fixed considering released a while ago.

As many people have mentioned DO NOT BUY THIS DLC. Games crashes partway through the story and it's pretty iffy whether you'll be able to find a way past it. Last I checked the developers still have not fixed it or even acknowledged the issue.

The DLC is not possible to finish for me(and many other people).

While i could play up to chapter 3 the game suddenly crashes . First it gives you a very long loading time, you can move in one are(usually the one you played last) but everytime you try to move to another screen the game will crash after another even longer loading screen. Do not buy.

Also it goes downhill at chapter 3. There is an enemy type that is only defeatable by the very annoyingly freeze then spam electric combo. Since it regenerates health at health, arcana and about everything else. Otherwise its okay, but barely 6€ worth.

They also added some annoying riddles that are easy but just tedious and exhaustingly long to solve.
DLC is unplayable because a common and known bug does not let you proceed into further areas of the dlc.

0/10 Broken DLC

The first two missions start mediocre, but the final mission is a tedious and buggy mess. Another DLC cash grab by the infamous Paradox. Do not buy!

I used to have a negative review for this mod due to the broken as all Hell chapter 3. BUT THEY FIXED IT FINALLY, you can now complete chapter 3 and get your sexy shmexy cultist robes.

GET THIS DLC, IT'S FIXED, IT'S GOOD, a little short, and it will most likely please Lovecraft fans

TL;DR:

• 6 years later and "The Stars are Left" has the same game breaking bug in Chapter 3 inside the C'thulu caverns, rendering it unplayable, with the exception of two possible workarounds (link of possible workarounds below).

• Game is unplayable on Windows 10 because it keeps crashing on the majority of loading screens (even after trying ALL the fixes posted). However, if you have Win 7, or can install Win 7 in a dual boot setup just so you can play this game, then go ahead and get this game, since I did have a blast playing the original campaign (in 2012).

======= End of TL;DR section, but keep reading if you want some personal insight =======

I bought the "World of Magicka Bundle" pack as I was missing a lot of the DLC and also wanted to get Magicka 2 since I loved the original campaign from Magicka 1 so much, I thought I'd try and experience all the game content available (boy was I going to regret this purchase).

At the time I played the main campaign, it was on Windows 7, so it didn't have any game breaking bugs (not to say the game was bug free, but at least I didn't encounter any that would make the game unplayable).

I wanted to get into the game again and play the DLC with my brother. So I actually bought the "World of Magicka Bundle" twice (one for me, one for him).

Long story short, we started playing "The Stars are Left"... (Now I'm on Windows 10) Oh boy.... crash, crash, crash, crash, crash, crash, crash, crash, crash, crash...

"Okay, maybe my save got somehow corrupted", I thought to myself.... delete save game, start new game, first loading screen, crash, crash, crash, crash, crash, crash, crash, crash, crash, crash, crash, crash...

Googled a bit the crashes, and found out that most people on Win 10 are having the same issue.

Figured out the crashes are a combination of Win 10 and .net present on Win 10. I remembered I still had my old Win 7 disk in a drawer, and after some fiddling, got Win 7 to run on my hard drive (running in a dual boot mode with Win 10 on my SSD, but that's irrelevant to the point). I start up Magicka and start a fresh "The Stars are Left" game.

I reach the end of Chapter 1... Holy crap!!! No crash so far!!!
I reach the end of Chapter 2... Holy crap!!! STILL no crash!!!
I reach the C'thulu caves in chapter 3... aaand crash... reload game, crash... crash, crash, crash.

I am now stuck in the same state as the OP in the links above and it keeps crashing every single time I get on a loading screen (most of the time with water sound in the background before it crashes).

I am FURIOS about the 70-80 Euros I spent buying the "World of Magicka Bundle" pack twice. I am a software developer myself and work in the automotive industry. To me it is impossible to comprehend how a developer can release a product that has, what we would call, a "show stopper" issue, and almost 6 years later, that issue is still there, all the while the developers keep releasing new products and "new features" (DLC) while not giving a crap about the product they already released and that was already bought by the consumers.

I went through the trouble of installing an additional OS just so I can play this game (something that the vast majority of the consumers probably won't, or in some cases, can't do), just to get rid of the OS and .net incompatibilities of the game, and I STILL can't play the game because of the game breaking issue mentioned in the original post.

Probably after some time of fiddling around with the workarounds above, it will eventually work, but after a few hours of having issues with this game, I gave up for now, and I'm going to try the suggestions above again (based on the feedback, people said that at least one of those 2 has worked for them).

I'm guessing that, eventually, I'll manage to finish that god forsaken DLC, but no one should have so many issues with a product that they PAID for. If a show stopper issue came up on one of the products that my company has released, both the company as well as the developers that caused that issue would be in DEEP shit.

Moral of the story:

If you have Win 7, or if you can install Win 7 on a separate disk so that you can play this game, and are prepared to do some fiddling, go ahead and buy the game.

Otherwise, as much as it pains me, considering how GOOD this game used to be and how big of a fan I used to be, DO... NOT... BUY... THIS... GAME...

Also, the fact that they removed the ability to play together with a friend that has a certain DLC that you don't, without announcing it, is scummy business practice (an example in the link below).

You can get past the chp 3 bug by going in a clock wise pattern when making the orbs glow. Start from bottom left, then top left, and then bottom right.

While otherwise a good DLC, the constant crashes renders this DLC unplayable. Would not recommend to anyone.

Paradox Interactive added microtransactions to this game 7 years after release. Not only did this make the game more unstable, it made The Stars Are Left impossible to finish. Whenever I made it to the final boss, playing solo or coop, my game always crashes no matter what, not to mention the other crashes on map loads.

They also removed the ability to invite your friends to play the DLC with you if they do not own it. Both you and your friends must own the DLC to play the game together.

I deeply regret not playing this DLC when it was still functional and did not crash.

DO NOT BUY!!

IT SIMPLY INSTANTLY CRASHES (more than usual Magicka). Can't play stage 3 because of an infinite loading screen.

THe DLC is extremely bad. I got it at the price of a burger menu and i'm still pissed off by all the bugs and the crashes. Unable to finish the DLC. Don't buy they barely fixed it.

I love the base game, but this DLC is just broken, the more times I try to play it the more game breaking bugs I find, bugs that just stop you from progressing. There is so much stuff broken in this DLC that it starts to feel like a chore you have to figure out so you can even play it... no thanks. Play with a friend and meme about how broken it is if you want, but when I buy a DLC i want to play it, I want it to work.
