Bought this to complete my collection of all DLCs in PZ. Would wait for a sale as for the price and lack of animals, which is what most players look for. It gives you the beautiful soundtrack, which is most likely due to the price being $11.99.

Anything that adds more animals to this game is worth the money. Just sayin.

The awful camera controls make this game unplayable. If there were better controls it would be a fun game, but it's beyond frustrating.

The 3 additonal animals are great and I think the price is more than okay.
Some people here don't understand how long it takes to make animals, music and art.
I love listening to the soundtrack while playing and the wallpapers are a lovely little addition!

Totally worth it, anyone that says it's too expensive doesn't know how much of work it is
to get just a single new species into the game. You have to model it, rig it, weight paint it, animate it.
And each animal got more than 2 animations due to the AI being so complex, to that comes the
uniqueness each of them have, the skin painting, the baby model making, the programming and setting each of them up
for implementing... and they did that for 3 new animal species.

So yes, totally worth it and the price is totally fine.

So the two things that i think would make this game better is if more of the users made modded animals and if the pathways could be turned into a square so it would be easy to build inside a players made building

Buy it for one reason, and one reason only: To support the Developers. They deserve it.

Maybe it seems a little expensive for what you get, but not if you think about the devs. Frontier Developments have made, in my opinion, the best zoo sim game of all time. As compared to the old Zoo Tycoon games, without mentioning the next gen graphics, Planet Zoo also has vastly more customizability and depth. Any wild type of zoo landscape, habitat design, building, or animal shelter you can think of, you can build.

The Depth of the gameplay is so vast that your only limitations will be your own imagination and creativity. For designing such an incredible work of art, the developers deserve the extra money for this tiny DLC pack, and I pay it gladly. Keep the content coming, Frontier!

to play this game and advance in the career portion you have to do the tutorials. however they are so glitched that its impossible to do them. nothing works properly and after restarting the tutorials 5 times at different stages due to glitches, I've now logged off the game and have no desire to play. 55 usd wasted on something that should be enjoyed but is actually the most annoying, stressful, aggrevating, game I've ever played. i have played many zoo games over the years but this while having the better graphics I've seen, is horrible. Not worth the money spent. If they chose to release a game still under production for errors they should atleast offer it at a not finished or not fully working price.

The game was already incredible, but they decided and are deciding to make it EVEN MORE INCREDIBLE. In this awesome DLC you get the feared komodo dragon, the ADORABLE pygmy hippopotamus, and the speedy and agile thompsons gazelle!

"3 Distinctive Animals

• Pygmy Hippopotamus; is related to the much larger and well known Common Hippopotamus. These delightful and smaller hippos like to live in pairs in the rainforests and swamps of West Africa.

• Thomson’s Gazelle; beautiful majestic species straight from Africa’s Serengeti. Thomson’s Gazelles love to live in large groups as they are social animals. They are hunted upon by many predators, but luckily they can run up to speeds of 60mph!

• Komodo Dragon; these large lizards have long, flat heads with rounded snouts, scaly skin, bowed legs, and huge, muscular tails and they have a very distinctive walk as their bodies sway side to side. Be sure to care for them cautiously as they are solitary creatures with very specific needs."

This should of been in the base game. Along with the content of the new "DLC". Game's should be completed when released, not divided into chunks to sell back to players.

Not sure why they'd lock the Thomson's Gazelle behind a paid DLC, seeing as how it's such an iconic Zoo Tycoon animal. Also this pack is more expensive than the arctic pack which includes more animals than this. Shameless cash grab. Frontier needs to include like 10+ animals and charge ~$15 per DLC.

Its good. But the update packs are a little short of animals. Maybe a £1 for every animal is worth, as they are not short of animals to pick from. Will just wait till they price drop to this.
But an all round good game. Sum aspects get a little draining (Boring) but that is part of running a zoo.

Really laggy and the controls are near impossible to get the hang of whilst the game lags so much.
Really disappointed. Was really looking forward to this game and paid extra for the deluxe package but it is completely unplayable. Genuinely considering going through the refunds process.

Lets be honest 95% of you bought this for the 3 animals. If that's the case buy on sale because 16.95 AUD is not worth 3 animals.
If you bought it for the soundtrack and backgrounds you still might want to buy it on sale (unless you absolutely love the soundtrack).
The wallpapers are not worth it, there is only 5 and 3 are good (one of them is just the official Planet Zoo image with the lions)

I am going to recommend this pack just because I wanted it and bought it pre-release, but I will say here that I thought the deluxe version was overpriced from the beginning. If the animals mean that much to you, like it did me, you will probably grab it regardless. The other inclusions are nice, of course, but that is not what sells DLC for me. To be honest, it is worth less now that beta has passed, though it was never about the beta for me either (and it was severely limited). When you consider this pack, you just have to weigh what the price is worth to you. It certainly is not comparable to the other packs, but if you want all the animals you have to have it.

A well worth pack, but should've been $8 dollars instead. the normal dlc is 10 u.s dollars for 4 animals. this was 12 u.s dollars for 3, with less cosmetics. But I was weakend by the Hippo and bought it for the Pygmy Hippo. And I do not regret it at all. great additions.

The word "unique" doesn't really fit to describe this DLC's animals.
All 3 creatures are related to animals already in the base game, so they use the same animations.
The Komodo Dragon is a wonderful addition, the only unique animal in this pack (but still recycles monitor animations)
The Pygmy Hippo is ~meh, it looks distinguishable from the normal hippo but moves and acts similarly
The Thompson's Gazelle is just a reskin of the Springbok that looks, moves, and acts identically

Overall, not worth unless you get it on sale

Why is the Thompson's Gazelle a DLC item for like 10$ when the Thompson's Gazelle was in the original game like a decade ago.

Editing this one year later to make my thought clearer:
Hindsight is 20/20. This was the first DLC pack and came with the beta for the game, but for people buying it now, I can't recommend this. This is the most expensive DLC and only comes with 3 animals. The other DLCs come with 5. This DLC also has no building theme, while most of the others do. This isn't a problem for all player but if you're a builder like me, its something to consider.

An abysmal way to create a deluxe edition add-on for a game. The animals on offer aren't even that unique or exotic except the Komodo dragon. The pygmy hippo, while unique, isn't too well-known and the Thomson's gazelle really should have been a base game animal over say the springbok. And that's it on animals. The other content, except the soundtrack, doesn't amount to much. Do not, I strenuously repeat, do not buy this on its own. $12 is way too much to ask for what you get in this. Buy the deluxe or premium edition which includes this content for only about $5 more. You will be saving yourself several dollars that way. For those of you who played Jurassic World Evolution, you will remember they also overcharged for that deluxe DLC separately. Remember how I said don't buy that on its own either. Yeah, same idea with this.

Jmh1000
Jmh1000

While the DLC pricing from Frontier is generally horrible, the pricing of their PC base games is always great. People who want to save a buck can get the game for an insane $45 MSRP. People who really want to get the collector's edition, or maybe a few cool animals, can go ahead and pay $55 bucks for the game. Still $5 less than what you'd expect the game to go for. Can't complain here.

5/10: Visually beautiful, technically disappointing.

I can only describe this game as released too soon and lacking attention to detail. Despite purchasing and playing this 12 months after original release you'd be surprised at the number of bugs left in this management simulation game.

From character narration you can't seem to avoid, to game functionality that just doesn't work, like the ridiculous cable cars, the only saving graces for this underwhelming game is the beautiful graphics and the realistic animal animations and AI. With the exception of the odd comical snow leopard leaping the equivalent of about 80 ft across an exhibit or superman jumping over exhibit fences, the attention to lifelike behaviours really make this a strong successor to the likes of Zoo Tycoon.

I urge you to check out any known bug lists or google "how to (whatever you're trying to do)" since you can easily lose hours trying to do something you think should take 20 mins only to find that it's buggy as hell and won't give you the result you expect *ahem attraction rides*. These are the list of problems and tips I'd found during my gameplay:

Laying path - using the grid select option is the only way to create yourself a large wide space of path, for example building a food court. Lay path first then add shops and hopefully they will snap to the main path. (but not guaranteed!) Laying path in general can be really infuriating, especially in small or gradient spaces. You can see and visualise what you're trying to do, hell you even know the physics should work, not too steep or weird camber, but the game will decide, nope the ground can't be flattened, or the exhibit fence is in the way, even though when you lay the path freehand it goes exactly where you knew it would. Starting at the other end and working back just results in the path trying to overlap and not connecting. If you see any YouTube videos on laying path and barriers etc, they will undoubtedly have turned off all the collision settings in the settings menu. Trying to work without this can be the bane of your life and a thankless perseverance.

Shops and shop facades - Placing the shop first so it attaches to the path then add the facade over the top. You can do this the opposite way around but you will likely have to then move the facade. I found eyeballing the placement was quicker and more satisfying than using the add to building functionality which doesn't guarantee it snaps to a path.

Habitat boundaries - If you choose the use the no boundary option (the white and blue line), always give more space than you think is the true boundary edge. For example if you have a cave, overhang, cliff, water etc on a boundary line it's really difficult firstly to gauge where is the physical limit of the space, and secondly if you do figure that out it's also very difficult to actually place the ghost boundary where you need it to. This is especially true for caves, where you cannot go very far into the cave wall. The amount of times I had an animal "escape" but actually it was sticking a nose/tail on the boundary line in the cave/shelter just put me off trying to make the natural shelter work for me.

The attraction rides - seriously just don't bother. The scenario where you need to complete the safari, just finish the track etc and then delete the thing. These attractions just haemorrhage money and some settings don't even work. For example the"any load" setting doesn't work and will cause the entrance gates to never open so will just give you lots of queuing angry guests AND NO ALERT TO TELL YOU! Also the gondola/cable car ride is pretty useless and the shuttle mode will only allow 1 car for the entire ride which, whoever designed that needs to tell me what cable car operates like that because some ski enthusiasts reading this just spat hot cocoa over their screens in horror.

Habitat gates - As in the above, I'd avoid adding the attraction/safari double doors, it just confuses the AI and you get lots of issues with having "multiple habitat doors". When this happens your exhibit will not longer be recognised as an exhibit, so will not be able to place animals into them or interact with it properly until you have fixed this. This is again a big issue in the scenario with the African safari theme. My advice is just delete the ride, and remove all the associated double doors.

Animal escape messages - With this it was 50/50 whether this was actually a real escape which was usually caused by my lack of my patience in placing objects/boundaries or if it was actually some in game physics going a bit wonky / nonsense reason and the animal hadn't even escaped. If you have 2 exhibits next to each other and you wish to merge them, (they may have compatible animals and you are stuck for expanding space), by deleting the partition boundary you will get a alert to say all the "dangerous animals" in both exhibits have escaped. All the nearby visitors will run away screaming, and you will rush to see what catastrophe has occurred only to find that a tapir and a bongo now live happily together safely behind a 4ft Plexiglas screen (i.e where they have been the entire time). You also get a similar reaction even when paused and when you are being force to delete the now duplicate 2nd habitat gate.

Foliage - the majority of the foliage I can't fault, it looks great, realistic there's only 2 annoying things. 1) the menu takes up too much screen space. 2) if you have nice touches such as ivy, roots, vines to choose from it'd be great when you click on them to start off in the correct orientation. If it's labelled "vertical vine" why does it lay horizontally flat to the ground when I want to place it. It just takes extra time to have to rotate it to the way it was described! This is also true of the exhibit sign (without stand). You click it and it's just lying flat on it's back like a widescreen TV that fell off it's bracket. It's just small things bit they really grate on you and if you're like me you just avoid using these props out of annoyance.

Menus - Lastly some menus seem to stick. Or you have to manually exit them before doing something else. So you can be placing boulders and have a crisis to fix and you can't click on anything until you've scrolled to the cross and clicked it (or press esc!) I've found this in the path menu in particular, also having to right click somewhere or clicking another menu and back in to carry on editing.

I really wanted to enjoy this game but the truth is it never left me feeling happy of satisfied with what I was building, just keen to get the scenarios over with in the hope the next one was better. The only scenario that was enjoyable was the Myers' Reserve since you basically start from scratch.

Unfortunately this game won't keep me coming back for more, like it's predecessor. I imagine once completing the game I will play it once more in a few years and that will be the death for me. It's too much frustration with the above bugs and the overly complicated, less intuitive designing tools. If you enjoy the design element then this game will not disappoint, but if you want to play it as a management game I found it just too exhausting, painstaking and time-consuming to be enjoyable.

For its price and the 3 species, it may be better to wait until its on sale. But, it also comes with some wallpapers and the music of the game, which is a bonus.

This pack has the 3 following species (all very common in zoos):

The skittish Thompson's gazelle, the powerful Komodo dragon, and the adorable pygmy hippo.

Now, talking about the digital goodies, the wallpapers are amazing and it's a very nice soundtrack. I'd say get it to not only complete the ultimate Planet Zoo collection, but also to support this game.

This was the first expansion pack I bought for the game, and I regret it. I even bought it half-off with the base game, and I feel ripped off. The three animals are pretty lame, and aren't all that notable. This pack is way more expensive than the others and doesn't really warrant it. I don't even know what else this comes with. Digital wallpapers? Just skip this and buy one of the actual DLC's on sale. If I could, I'd get a refund for this pack. I love the base game, but this sucked.

If You want the Soundrack and Wallpapers they are inside where it's installed.

As for the price.... buy it when on sale if you're only wanting it for the animals.

In Game, all you get is 3 new animals.... the price is so high because it includes soundtrack and pretty pictures.
$12 for 3 Animals isn't a good price, $12 for Music, Pictures and 3 animals is not bad.... So if you want it JUST for animals, wait for a sale to come up.

As can be expected from this game, the three animals included, the Komodo Dragon, Pygmy Hippo, and Thomson's Gazelle, are all really well-made. It also includes the game's beautiful soundtrack and five stunning wallpapers, but the animals are clearly the stars of the pack here.
However, $12 for only three animals and some other miscellaneous content is, admittedly, a rip-off. If you're buying Planet Zoo for the first time, I would recommend getting the Deluxe Edition for the three extra animals, but if you're buying it separately, definitely wait for a sale.
On it's own, this pack is absolutely not worth the price. The animals themselves are good, as I already said, but $12 is asking too much. If this pack interests you, wait for a sale to get it, but if you decide not to get it, you aren't missing out on too much.

I like it. It's fair. A few extra bucks, 3 new animals and more. I will say, I was hoping that the deluxe would pack more than the ultimate. Your wording kinda got me on high expectations. Overall, I'd recommend just buying two or more of the actual animal packs. :/ This is just plucking some animals from each mod.
