1st of all, thanks might and delight for adding shelter 2 mountains it has so much more stuff, I just was playing it to see all of the addons like the bears, foxes and eagles. At the start, a eagle almost got away with a cub but i killed the eagle, thankfully. then i went to the mountains and i got chased by a bear. no fox has stolen one of my cubs yet but i have a question can you kill the fox idk.

So i think this game is really great for all ages you get really attached to the cubs and fear for their saftey and if you have the money i would recommend to buy this addon or buy shelter 2 and the addon.

Just wanted to share my experience on a 1st time playthrough of Mountain DLC in survival mode.

Killed 1 Fox before even REACHING the mountain.

Lost 1st cub to starvation when 2 bears scared off all prey

Lost 2nd cub to a fox while trying to feed a downed cub

Lost 3rd cub to starvation while trying to save a fox stolen cub

...

Kir and I survived the winter, growing fat on grouse and rabbits.

A lightning bolt struck in spring, knocking me out and killing her instantly.

9/10 will survive (or not) again!

P.S: This game all but DEMANDS a mode like nurture; give us the option of extending our experience please! More time to bond with these cubs and get the full experience of the maps is a must. There's also a big demand for more skins that could easily be tied into the existing system: let the unlockable skins give new skin types for the cubs as well! That and the absence of actual "shelter"function with this games caves are my only crticisms. Do a stuff pack with those features and I can see the next expansion being worth twice as much easy!

The new zone was a lot more challenging than the other ones, it was easier with the wolves! I did had some fun exploring the Map. Also, this dlc is gorgeous! I don't regret spending my money on these!

But could you please fix the flying antlers glitch? I literally tough the evil spirits of the two deers I killed decided to take renvenge!

I was really excited for this and am pleased to say i am awed by the scenery and new music. The only down side i have met already is i haven't actually seen any bears or foxes yet. It may be because i dont have any kits, but i would like to see them like you do the wolves with or without kits.
Despite that the new thunder made me jump out of my headphones, making it feel deadly close. It sent shivers up my spine and made me suddenly aware of what ever this new DLC has in secret. I can't wait to keep going in my family tree and see how far i can really go.

Shelter 2 Mountains DLC breathes in some much needed challenge to the core experience and manages to deliver an impacting, (almost) worthwhile experience to a game that is already held in high regard amongst its fans. It provides players with one brand new zone within the game world to explore at their own peril. Protecting your cubs during their infancy from Wolves, Bears and screaming birds of prey, become an ever more omnipresent danger you will have to deal with whilst exploring new grounds.

Mountains DLC however is not quite the up-tooling that Shelter 2 requires to pull in additional customers or potential fans as some aspects of the game are still 'lacking', particularly regarding overall challenge, combat and most importantly, the games overall length. It will still take most people approximately two hours of their time to complete with or without this DLC; so to say it adds any substantial meat or run-time to the experience is based solely on the individual playing it which is a shame because it is a beautiful world to explore and gaze upon in awe at your own leisure but bolstering the Ecosystem has only taken Shelter 2 so far in the right direction.

There are welcome additions such as your cubs becoming sick and incapacitated and depending on where you are, means you will be forced to either stand your ground and forage for nutrients with which to heal your sick and injured or risk losing them to the great circle of life. Everything eats something and you and your pride of Lynx are no exception to the rule. You can however carry your injured to a safer, remote location but if more than one cub is sick at a time it becomes a potentially deadly juggling act and I will admit that I lost one of my cubs this way. Yes, I felt awful.

The problem is that there are no ways in which to defend against attacking predators, while realistically a Lynx will not take down a bear in reality, the very lack of any defensive options against all predatory wildlife within the game means that sometimes you will feel cheated out of losing one of your offspring because the game decides to swing a curve-ball and there is little you can do against it. If a bird of prey or fox grabs one of your Cubs, you have a limited window in which to leap onto its back and take it out but this is one of the rare exceptions where you feel you can regain control of an unwieldy situation. It is clear this sense of apathy is intended by the Developers but it may lead to new or younger players feeling frustrated with the game and potentially turn away, which would be criminal.

Collectibles now serve a purpose to some degree as a new obtainable skin for Inna can be granted after finding all artifacts throughout the game, but with a lack of information on the in-game map or any sense of where they are, many are likely to skip over this as routing out all one-hundred collectibles becomes more a chore than a passion and is likely to distract from the flow of the game.

Now, I did not particularly want to mention the price of the DLC but I must really lay into the fact that at $4.50 (£3.99 here in the UK) minus the discount on release is really pushing their chances. The base game is £10.99 so they are indirectly stating that the DLC for just under 40% of the price that the main game is, is equal to the value of this DLC's worth. In which I must respond 'well there is not enough there for a consumer to believe that this is the case'. Charging just short of half the price of the main game that comes with four or five zones; for just one new area and an additional set of three new 'enemy types' primarily within that zone? No amount of collectibles in a single section of a larger game is going to entice anybody that it was worth the cash because in the long and short there just is not enough content to justify the admission price, for me and likely a few others who may come to play it.

This is the most damning thing about the DLC because I genuinely enjoy the game and urge others to play it because it is just not like every other game. However, with all these questionable themes in the DLC; one has to wonder if it will do more damage than good and for its sake, I hope it negates all damage and people out there continue to enjoy it and accept what content Might & Delight (Developers) give. If this is your thing and you feel your time and money can meet your expectations with this DLC package then, there is nothing to fear, but on a consumer to consumer basis; arguments are inevitably going to vary between those who thought it was worth their money and those who think the very opposite, this is the demographic I warn. Ultimately, if you purchase this DLC and feel it was worth it then more power to you, really.

In all, Shelter 2 Mountains DLC is a practical addition to the base game but it does not hit the highs of the foundation it is built on nor does it really attract a great deal of additional playtime with its ONE new zone that feels rewarding or substantial enough to be a 'must-buy' to improve the core experience, which is the worst of its few meager flaws. It is with a heavy heart because I love this game, that I cannot recommend this to returning players who are already adequately fulfilled with the base game.

Amazing. With the new Predator/Prey animals it adds to the already amazing world of Shelter 2 you really become more protective over your kittens taking into consideration that a Fox could appear out of nowhere and possibly escape with one of your kittens or a Eagle can just suddenly dive down upon one of your kittens and fly away with it if you don't pounce on it in time. 10/10

Alright let's see..
Day 1: Just hanging around the den, feeding my cubs so they can stronger then I would go to the mountains. And while I was hunting.. Out of no where, I heard a screech. I knew that screech from the last game... And I was terrified.
I stood still, not sure of what to do, the eagle swooped down and scooped up my red cub, Tiga. I panicked and jumped, killing the eagle by accident.
Day 2: Arrived in Mountain area, had to camp due to night time.
Day 3: Hunting is hard with trees everywhere.. I see a river, but I have no idea how to cross it.

Day 3 - Afternoon: I was trying to feed a quail to my cubs, but they refused to eat it, I thought this was a glitch so I took a bite out of it myself and stopped, they still didn't eat it. I gave them a rodent, they still didn't eat it. I kept trying to feed it until I heard the terrifying roar of a bear.... Then I ran like bat-shit crazy.
I couldn't see the bear, trees were blocking my view but I could hear the breathe and stomp... It was chasing me. I prayed to the lynx lord that the cubs were ok. But then suddenly.. It stopped. it seemed like the bear had gave up or got distracted.
10/10 was able to scare the shit out of me.

I can't find out how to get to mountains. Thought there was a option to start there. Gonna look for tutorial...

yams

Worth all the time and money.

I didn't know what I was expecting when I brought my cubs towards the mountains. An eagle swooping down to snatch my cub? Totally didn't see that coming. To be honest I was terrified and froze on my legs (Lynx's legs to be exact) when suddenly I heard the dooming bgm of our flying foe. "Gdmmt is that what I think it is?!" And there went me watching my cub having its first (and last) flight. It was a great introduction to the mountains! Then got another eagle swooped my other cub but I managed to chase and feast it to my cubs instead. That bird deserved it.

Met the bear twice in my first playthrough and totally got knocked off each time they appear. The second time it almost killed another cub but I managed to save it. Haven't met the foxes yet on my 2nd playthrough, I think they're on the other side but can't find the path there while crossing the river in winter. Gonna keep trying.

I also have some suggestions for the game:
- Can we have an option to turn off control tutorial in the setting? It keeps popping out of nowhere while I'm hunting or such whenever I'm near the place. I keep missing the timing to catch the first deers because each time I see them, the tutorial pops out and the next thing I know they all have run away!
- Please extend the survival time! It's not enough to roam the mountains with my cubs :( too short...

Thank you for the great DLC and the game overall! This game is one in a kind, I'm glad Shelter series exist. It'd be definitely one of my favorite games for a very very long time. Great job, developers. :D

If you are ready for the extra challenge, this DLC makes the game even more realistic and fun!

Shelter 2 Mountains is absolutely amazing! If you have the original game, you'll see it's pretty easy-going after you become a pro at catching food and evading wolves. This adds a whole new area to explore (without the DLC there are only 3 areas) with new predators - eagles, bears, and foxes - to keep you on your toes and test your skills as a wild lynx mother! With the DLC you can also experience beautiful views of the northern lights - a perfect addition to an already perfect game. I highly reccomend this DLC to all Shelter 2 lovers!

I find this game both challenging and easy at times. I can find food and catch it like a pro but other predators can come along and pick off my babies so I am constantly on the move. Though I really hate them eagles. I wish I could hit them before they tried to scoop up my favorite cub. However all in all the games is fun and fantastic. I would define try biy it and I can't wait for what shelter 3 is going to be.

I certainly love this DLC, expecially with how we can kill the eagle. That's what you get for taking my cubs all those times in the first game, haha!

But in as much seriousness as I can muster, this was a great addition to the game. I always thought the mountains looked beautiful in the Tundra and Main areas. With being able to explore them now is so cool! Bears, grouse, eagles, foxes, forest fires..man, those cubs never get a break from danger, do they?

And since they're not just added to the mountain area, it really adds to havong to watch your back. Most people seem to complain about there being a lack of danger, and I recommend that if you think that, to get this DLC. Eagles can attack right when your cubs leave the den, right along with the fox and forest fires, add that to the blob/flood, and the Main area is no longer the safe place we thought it was. EVERY area gets infected with new dangers, and it truly makes the game scarier. So if your up to the new dangers, then I think that the Mountains are totally worth the money it costs.

typeo3

-Finaly get the DLC, I was so exited!
-Open the game and start a new family before realizing that I would have to go though the intro again. That's fine. I could wait.
-I give each of the cubs silly and stupid names that make me love them even more. Gravit, Tiga, MudFis, and Show.
-I feed the cubs until they are strong enough to travle with me to the mountains.
-Hunting in the mountains was bad. I sware the rabbits knew all of my tricks.
-Tiga colapses, and soon Show does too.
-I could only find one rabbit, and they don't share. R.I.P Show. T_T
-Summer becomes Fall and I hear a screech that I know too well.
-I flip out and run to a bush to hide with my cubs. The eagle, however, has X-ray vision and snaches Mudfis.
-I was terribly sad for a moment before i realized that it couldn't take off, so I charged it and gave the Eagle some much needed payback.
-Still fall, when my cubs stop eating just as ominous music begins to play quietly in the background.
-I grab one of my cubs and run, hopeing that the bear didn't see me or my other two cubs. (luckly it didn't)
-Spring comes and my cubs grow, so i fell more relaxed and stop looking for food every single moment of my life.
-I was hunting deer when Gravit colapsed. only two cubs had come when I got the kill.
-I fliped out (again :p) and serched despretly for a rabbit or mole, but I had scared them all away. R.I.P Gravit T_T
-The rest of my cubs survived and the game ended the same way it always has.

10/10 would have a panic attack again.

Awesome! But only one thing. It's not that I want my cubs to die. I would hate it if that happened. But I've had 3 generations in the mountain, exploring basically all of it, and not once have I seen the wolves, foxes, or hawks.

Best experience ever :3
As soon as I left the den I heard a shriek. I turned too late to see a hawk had taken Soil :'( I was veeery frightened since this was my first game in the moutains
Another hawk came and tried to take Tiger. I don't know how but it dropped her :| I was very relieved
We were approaching the mountains and I saw a fox sneaking out of some bushes. I chased it off, aware it was following us. So I always halted a few seconds to check our backs, and that's why my small family started to starve.
We reached the mountains, and life became much easier. Moles came running right into my paws and I could feed my starving cubs!
I led my cubs into the woods, catching many prey that fed them all. I saw a shape and realized it was a bear. I called to my cubs and slowly crept away, just to hear an awkward music. The bear was chasing us! Quickly, I picked up the weakest cub and raced away, the others following.
We were free from the mangy bear. Life was easy, until one day while I was hunting deer near the frozen lake in winter, Flake collapsed on her side and started mewling for food. And then I spotted it. An idiot fox creeping toward us hungrily. I instanlty ran towards it, and it turned tail and fled. But when I accidentally got past it, it darted toward my cubs. Roaring with rage, I killed it, and that saved Tiger, Mud, and specially Flake's life.
Life became much easier, with not much threats. When my cubs became half-grown, bird nests started to appear, and we saw the Northen Lights at night. All we did was hunting plump prey until they left. Flake and Mud raced away side-by-side into the lower ground, while Tiger walked determinedly alone toward the high peaks.

All I have to say is it was amazing. I was lucky not to be struck by lightning or live a fire (which my sister did and scared the **** out of me) and it was amazing. A:M:A:Z:I:N:G AND THE B:E:S:T GAME E:V:E:R
Buy this DLC. It's worth it. Also, if you go to the normal-game lake territory, don't leave your adult cubs there. DON'T. I tell you from experience. My cubs said good-bye and left, but when I was heading back to the den, I heard a creepy and weird music. I was feeling weird when the trees and bushes and mountains and rocks and grass and EVERYTHING started to shake and turn into bright colors and the ground shook and my lynx started turning into bright yellow and falling. So I ran away as fast as I could and sighed in relief when I reached my den.
Please tell me if you know what that was ^w^ And this DLC is worth it. If you have played Shelter 2 and enjoyed it, you'll love this,

This is totally more amazing than the original Shelter 2. Many more places to explore, and the features including threats--more fabulous than I imagined.

If I remember well....

I hunted three rabbits for my tiny cubs. After they ate, we set out toward the mountains, the most exciting part of the game. I caught a bird and fed my cubs, they were eating very well, until I heard a shriek and turned around--I spotted an eagle swooping up and down. My head spinning, it scared the **** out of me. I hissed for my cubs, and they gathered so close beside me. I was afraid to lose one of them. The eagle dived down and took my brown cub, little Gray, on its claws. This was the first time I saw an eagle. I pounced on it, bringing it down and killing it while Gray landed on the ground safely. It was the most relieving moment of the whole journey, which's dangers had just started.
We kept on our way, hunting by and checking for more threats. I soon hissed to my cubs, when I spotted a fox sneaking up on us. Anger surged through me, I wouldn't risk losing another cub even if I could save her, so I shot at the fox. It tried to trick me by changing direction but I trapped it on a few thorns and killed it. My cubs ate. I was happy again.
We reached the mountains. Another fox crossed on our way, but I killed it. My cubs were safe, until prey became scarcer. I spotted some caves and thought of dens for us or bear dens--I yet don't know the truth. Soon we were far from home and near the star I chose to follow (I didn't know where it would guide me). My cubs grew into strong, half-grown lynxes and I was proud. We kept traveling, we never met a bear or another fox again. That until my white cub Cloud lay limp, starving. The others stayed with her. I hunted a mole and brought it to her. She ate it, but kept constantly falling as well as the rest. Finally I got to feed them fully and we traveled on and on. We were so near! We tried to hunt deer but it failed, though the land was full of prey. We crossed a pool. We were about to reach the star. But suddenly it started raining, lightning striking the sky, and a forest fire started. We were just at the edge of a hill. I didn't know what to do. Panicking, I stumbled back to the top, farther up the hill. But, as we tried to avoid the flames, my gray cub (don't remember name) got scorched. I... I was grief-stricken. I brough my three left cubs, brown Gray, white Cloud, and the tan one whose name I don't remember. But the sooner and sooner we got to the star, the stronger and bigger my cubs grew. In autumn, they set off. The tan cub and Cloud went together, heading off the mountains. Gray chose the path of the mountains, but in closed spaces. I had to go to the old, tree den. But I had something to finish first. I rounded up and reached the star. That's when I realized where it took me--the tundra. I was happy. I covered all the world in my paw steps, and I had reached the den sooner. Worn and weary, I slept into the den, memories of the journey crossing my mind.

marianxiety

Seems a little rushed and less polished than vanilla Shelter 2. Also quite buggy and for whatever reason prey is EVERYWHERE and often runs right into you. I found myself avoiding the mountains all together because it in fact removed the challnging aspect and took away from the polished beauty of the other areas. Really too bad. I'd pay twice as much for better DLC.

I found a great glitch, but no clue what caused it. I was hunting behind the den before going into the mountains, when an eagle swooped down. No warning, no shadow circling or screech, just swoops down... and then it started circling. Diving in and out of the ground, going around for way longer than usual. It tried to pick up one of my cubs I guess because it flew upward, except I pounced and killed it. Even in death, it was still glitched, as my cubs could eat from it for eternity. I went went afk for a while, came back and my cubs had grown, it was the summer before the left, and they were still eating. Easiest game ever.

Wolvine101
Wolvine101

My cub got stolen by an eagle. I chased after the eagle and killed it, and watched as my cubs, including the one stolen, ate its dead body.

Moral of the story: Never take anything from lynxes.

But seriously, a fantastic DLC, and one of the best four pounds I've ever spent.

With the arrival of Shelter 2's beautiful new DLC; Mountains, the game has been made much more arduous and interesting! Remember those mountains you could always view from the tundra and forest areas? Well, now you can explore them!

The base game of Shelter 2 has always been enjoyable and (extremely) straining, so with this addition you can only expect the experience doubled. Despite the fact that prey is much easier to find in all areas now, the number of predators has broadened immensely!

No longer are there just the odd round of wolves to terrify you, there are now foxes- which stalk behind you and your cubs, picking them off so quickly that there is no way to stop them once they are making off with one of your babies. The only way to scare them off is to chase them, and not only that, but if you want to ensure it's gone for good AS WELL as feeding your cubs, you can kill them!
There are also bears, which you have to pass to further travel the mountains only by sneaking, as they will kill your cubs.
Finally, there are the eagles, which are sadly unavoidable, as they will attack the moment cubs have left the den. When the eagle picks up your cub, you will be alerted by the cub's desperate wails. You will have to pounce on the eagle in order to save your cub- but make you don't leave it too late!

From my knowledge, forest fires have only just been added- so make sure you don't get caught up in one, or you will doom your babies!

With beautiful new music and excellent new weathers, Shelter 2 Mountains is definitely worth the cost! I need to wish you luck, though, as I lost two of my babies to this DLC's content alone. ;-;

I have played many hours of Shelter 2. With time i got better at it and there was no more challenges really. I got Shelter 2 mountains and it really makes it more interesting. Shelter 2 was an amazing game. I had around 21 hours when I decided the game was too boring for me now. Everytime I played, it was routine; wander to forest area, go to winter area, get to main area when cubs grow up, and repeat process. I had just enough money left over to purchase Mountains, and I decided to make the game better. Best decision I've ever made.

When I first opened the game with a cub from my last litter, Fire, it looked pretty much the same. But when it became spring, I noticed the colors, and they were gorgeous. I quickly fed my cubs after naming them; Meow, Whisk, Zeno, and Sedge. I took the babies out of the den, and we hunted for a few minutes before I heard an unbearable screeching/mewling noise. I whirl around and see a small orange shape darting off, my cub's icon attached to it. Confused and unprepared, I flail helplessly after the fox. It turns and races past me. I whisk around and stop dead in my tracks. The icon had disappeared, and the screeching had stopped. I'd already failed. Zeno was gone.

I became much more paranoid after that. I'd check the area frantically, and while chasing a rabbit, my thoughts would whirl with fear that a fox would snatch up another while I hunted. We made it to the mountains, and it was amazing there. Plenty of hunting, and a lot of sight-seeing. I remember climbing the mountain and forgetting everything for a heartbeat, trapped by the breath-taking view of the mountain. It couldn't last long, though. The dead reminder of Zeno's death was still there.

Not much happened after that. I didn't get a bear or forest-fire, though in my second playthrough with Sedge I got both. At one point I spotted another fox tracking us. It made a dart for the cubs, but I killed it with great satisfaction. The game pretty much played the same after that; hunting, cubs grew up, they left, I spent about an hour trying to get back home (it's a BIG map now) and completed the game. All in all, this gave the risk and cruel punch that Shelter 2 originally needed. I intend to play a lot more.

It's probably one of the coolest places to raise your lynx cubs, out of all the maps.

It's not as dangerous as the tundra/plains, not as... Boring as the Den-Start map, and it looks beautiful.
As soon as I spotted the waterfall, I trekked towards it, and let's just say, the sights are something to see.

There is, I must warn, some issues with it, although they may not be issues to some.
There's this massive river that cuts through half of the Mountains, and it has no bridge. You can only get to the other side via the 'Snowflake' area.
So that massive herd of deer you just saw on the other side? Sucks to be you, you have to go all the way around.

Other than that, I just have some nice things to say.

-The Bears are legitimately cool, and make you want to avoid them at all costs.
-Prey is plentiful, but you can screw yourself over if you miss more than one pheasant.
-Easy place to raise the cubs, if you know how to avoid the foxes.
-Interesting design, and unique look

On the 'harder' part of the coin, however...

-Not overly difficult, but adds some challenge
-Hard to spot predators, or keep track of pheasants you're chasing(But could be a good thing)
-Dense areas full of bushes and trees make it hard to see
-The art style, although nice, can make it hard to differentiate grass from hill, and hill from rock
-The marshy area is literally a square. The pattern doesn't hide this or make it look nice

Overall, a nice DLC, that adds some spice to your cub-raising life.

This expansion was amazing! It had a really good impact on the game Shelter 2, making it even better.
Instead of just being a predator, you are also prey to many things, such as: bushfires, eagles, bears, foxes, etc.
It makes you very wary and forces you to protect your cubs more carefully.
It is definitely worth the extra $5 to your game.

I actually jost got the DLC today. So, there are some amazing add ons and it's for sure worth $5.
I had an account I was playing on with my red lynx named Velvet, (by the way, Velvet had three cubs left-- Waffle, Wafer, and Mango). I got the DLC and instantly got on, super excited. Since my three surviving cubs were old enough to explore, we left for the mountains around mid-afternoon. When I was making my way to the mountains, I heard a terrible screech while chasing a rabbit. I dropped the bunny I had killed and ran for my cubs. The massive eagle snatched my little Wafer, and, panicing, I leaped for the heavens and somehow managed to get the eagle. I watched with satisfactopn my cubs eat, remembering when my little Honey the badger cub was snatched. We entered the mountain region and were greeted by a beautiful autumn forest. I was exploring around with my cubs when the music stopped. I became suspicious immedietly and paused, calling my cubs. I didn't see anything. Soon enough, I slowly proceeded. Then, I rounded a corner, my scent sight on. I saw it. A huge, hulking brown figure was sniffing the ground. I knew it was a bear. The bear looked up at me and started walking towards us. I grabbed the nearest cub and dashed out of the forest. Luckily, we all made it.
Night came and it snowed, signalling the start of winter. Assured that the bear was gone, I ventured with my cubs through the forest and came to a river covered with ice. I saw some pheasants and some rabbits, which, if anyone else is a lynx mom, when they're cubs, it's basically priority number one.
I decided to travel across the ice. We walked slowly, me calling my cubs eveyr few seconds as the music was eerie. We were around half-way over the ice covered river when I saw some deer a bit away! I made my way towards them. When I reached the land, I was walking for a bit when I heard a twig snap. I froze and called for my cubs. Whirling around, I saw a lithe red fox standing still, watching me and my cubs with interest. I ran after him but I ran out of stamina, however I managed to get it eventually.
The rest of my story is simple. I ventured to a waterfall with my little cubs, who, eventually, were not so little. But there is always a time when they must go. For me, that's the hardest part. As the hills turned yellow and red for the last time, I remembered my little lost cub. She never had the chance to live with her siblings.
I stayed still as my cubs froze, flicking their ears. Velvet laid down and my three cubs started walking away. I said, "We are a family my children." Before they broke into a run and left me.
Back at the den, I woke that morning to the memories of now and when the cubs were born. Strong memories they were.
I followed the stars to, what I believe, was my lost cub leading me to the afterlife. That was Velvet's story, the little red lynx cub who grew from a sassy little hot head to a full grown adult who wondered, "Is this what my mother felt when we left?" That is one of my favorite things about Shelter 2. I get the watch my children grow and hear their stories too. My little babies will have their own parenthood one day. But I will not be their to see that day. As, following what I believe, Velvet has passed, but will be with her loved Hazel, who she couldn't save in time. There is the good and bad to every story, but what seems bad may not be so.

This adds a unique area for Shelter 2. But, unfortunately, I don't recommend it strongly. But, I'm still recommending it because I don't feel like I would fully say that I disliked it. Well, first off, it's nice when you first get there, but unless you don't have your cubs, it's almost impossible. "Oh, but Fangirl! You just can't play the game properly!" Really? Then please do let me see how to play the game, in your definition, properly. First off, lets go over the good things about it: It's lovely to explore. A few more animals to the game. Adds more challenges. Cheap. Fun. Large map. And then, there's the things I think are bad about it: The bears don't react properly to the cubs. Unless I'm just the only one experiencing this, it's when the bear just slides on over to your cubs, while they're extremely far away. It's confusing, the map doesn't help guide you through this, because there's either mountains there, or it's a drop. I can't seem to find enough bunnies to feed 4 cubs. They're normally gathered in groups, nearby each other, but for me, they're way to far away from each other to keep 4 cubs well fed. Hate me if you will, I give this a 6/10.

This DLC is definitely worth it. It adds predators and other elements that were previously missing. The mountains map is also extremely gorgeous to look at!

this game is amazing its like all of the shelter games but with a more open world. You also need to play and complete Shelter 2 to play this game.

I made a review that involved my first playthrough for Shelter 2, so I feel like including my experience with the Mountians DLC.

So, when my cubs were able to follow me, I immediatly went to the mountians. There was plenty of food in the lowlands, so we stayed there for most of my playthrough. I got used to hunting in the forests, though I always got stuck on a tree or rock every once and a while. My cubs were wellfed, with me hunting rabbits and pheasants whenever I saw one. Then, while walking along, the screen got darker. I paused the game to wonder what was happening for a bit before I continued. Suddenly lightning struck the ground near me and my cubs and a fire came from the ground. I had just caught and was about to feed a pheasant to my cubs when it happened, so I ran when the fire came close and walked when for my cubs to get near to me. Then I saw a platform and decided to jump up it. The fire didn't reach us from the platform and I was able to feed my cubs the pheasant.
When the fire stopped, my heart was still beating fast. Then I heard the found of sticks cracking. I got so terrifyed that I exited out of the game for that day. When I came back, I went and did the usual hunting and watching out for predators that I saw in the trailers. I fed my cubs a rabbit when I heard sticks cracking. I looked around to see a fox attempting to sneak up on my cubs. In one of the trailers I saw a fox take a cub so I charged at the fox. I got it cornered by some rocks and then killed it. All four of my cubs ate well that day.
Soon I continued on, nothing much eventful happen, exept for another fox that I also killed. I was getting lost with my still wellfed cubs and then spring came again. I decided to explore when autumn came. My cubs left me and I set off to find the den. Eventually I did find the den, slept, and went through the ending.

I also went back to look for the other predators, which I did find. This DLC is also more of a hard mode for Shelter 2, for it gets easy without the random predators. With random eagles, bears, foxes, and fires popping up, it'll get fairly challanging for you and your cubs. And it also comes with the huge mountians, which I still haven't fully explored.

Shelter 2 Is a adventurous, sad, and a breath taking game.

The game starts you off as a mother lynx epecting cubs trying to run away from wolves. You have to take care of the cubs which means feading, defending, and teaching them through out your adventure. As the game goes on they grow up and leave you at the right age. This game could be sad or happy, but either way It will get your heart thumping. The kittens could die or all four of them can grow up and live. Personally, I played this game one. ONLY ONCE and I balled my eyes out for an entire week due to two of my cubs dying. I finished the game though.

I would recommend this game, but I would also not. If you can't handle crying or Is very emotional and don't think you can take It, then I advice you to wait till you think you can handle It. This game has a true meaning though and It Is probably what would happen In real life to a mother lynx. Pull out a blanket and icecream kitties!

I was on the end of the game.
All of the cubs were well fed and healthy.
A THUNDER hit one of the cubs a few moments before autumn.
He was the chosen one.

Being a big fan of the Shelter 2 game, I was very excited when I was downloading this. I loved how original the art style was in the original game, and how sad the game could be, but I had gotten bored with the same old, "oh look there's fog better get back to the den" or "Oh wow my cubs left me". This game adds danger wherever you are, and with the foxes and eagles always wanting to grab your cubs, you're left constantly on edge, and when you go into scent view and notice a large red creature lumbering through the trees, you know you're in trouble. The mountains are a beautiful place, and the new soundtrack is amazing. When ever the clouds cover the moon and everything is dark, I get so excited to hear the music for the fire. I highly recommend this DLC.

This is a really cute game. You give birth to these cute lynx's. You can name them as if their your own. There are predators who will try and take your babies away and kill them. You need to try your best to protect them and feed them to make them gain strength to go hunt on their own. I really recommend this game. it's really good and their graphics are amazing.

I loved this add on! Although it does make me feel like every second there is a fox or an eagle trying to take my cubs XD.
So yes it was worth an extra five dollars. (it is five dollars, right? :P) Only once a cub burned in a fire/died with the DLC. Though they were teens and survival mode was on... oof I'm going on to a story now... XD So the mode was on survival mode and my cubs were teenagers. Soon their fur got dull and they made their little hunger crys (Lol Just kidding their whimpers XD) and soon THREE OF THEM WERE DOWN. Hugo, orange cub who didn't even LOOK orange! >:0 Lola, white cub, and Cookie, brown cub. I had finally caught a rabbit and Lola was closest so I gave it to her. Then I heard a longer, sad cry and Cookie was. Soon was Hugo and soon Raven burned in a fire ( and she was the one I was gonna be! >:0 ) so Lola was the last survivor so now i'm playin with her XD So this is one of my calm, friendly experiences! XDDD

this game is great. Fantastic, really.
how my 2 kits died:
Reia: Simple, we were walking back to the den, all 5 of us, then, she just ran off. Dissapeared. How is that even possble?
Rein: Amber, Ash and her had just grown, no longer kits, and she just sits there, wailing, so I run out to catch a rabbit. 2 minutes later, I come back with the rabbit, (I know im a bad hunter.) I walk up to Rein, and she falls to the ground, letting out a horrifying screaming noise, and dies. just dies.
I need to improve my hunting.
at least Amber and Ash survived.

I bet this is a good DLC, adding a new biome and new threats, but i'm too much of a coward to actually play it.

Because i swear if that fox takes my baby agai-

I gotta say, this DLC is amazing.

My cubs were born, I got 3 rabbits and fed them and we started to head to the mountains, but I heard the screech of the eagle and panicked. It caught a cub and I caught the eagle. Kept my cub. Easy.

We started to go again and I heard weird noises, like sticks breaking and the noises of an asthmatic pig or something. Fox, caught a cub. I chased, caught the fox. Easy?

Finally went to the mountains. Bear. Run. Escaped the bear. Easy.

Went up the mountain. Lightning. Run. Cub got burnt to death, nice and toasty.

3 cubs. Eagles, foxes and a bear. Deer and rabbits. Prey. And predators.

My children grow. Another bear attack. Run. Bear attacks me and my cub. Feed my cub, easy?

It's Autumn. My children leave.

Hard. Very, very hard.

Okay, so i have a full family tree with mountain DLC threats off, i decided to turn it on with Citrus.
Names:
Fox(Orange) Stone(Gray) Silk(Brown with spiderweb-like patterns) Pine(White) and Citrus(Mother lynx, orange)
So I started playing normally, then after awhile, the cubs started following me, I continued to hunt, then the bird-of-prey came, I tried it before with the DLC threats on, so i knew what i had to do, the hawk started to lift off with one of my cubs, i killed it. Nice. I continued normally to the winter area and the bird-of-prey came again, carrying off pine before i could notice her in the snow. Then i continued, and the wolves came, they got me and when I woke up, Fox was gone. I continued with Silk and Stone, they became bigger and more lynx-shaped, I continued and they left as usual, I was glad Stone survived because Citrus's brother was the same pattern, her brother, (With Stone's patterning) died to wolves. Also, there was a fox following me sometimes, probably tried to get my cubs, but he was scared of me so he didn't get any. Also, I didn't see a bear so that's good!

I loved this DLC. It seemed like a lot of fun to try with my new character, Suki. For some reason, I didn't come in contact with any new animals except for the bear. In the end, the almost paper-mache graphics were absolutely beautiful. I survived with all four of my cubs.

In my opinion, this DLC is essential to get a good experience out of the base game, as it adds some much needed variety.

˚≠ Elle ≠˚
˚≠ Elle ≠˚

Pros:

- Theres a good amount of food (They even have deer as thats my favorite meal.)
- Theres a good amount of space
- Beautiful scenery
- It also has a good price

Cons:

- Not much food (They have a lot of moles or voles whatever they're called, and they have a medium amount of rabbits, but they only have a few deer, like, you have to travel miles away just to find one.)
- Can't get across the river (There should at least be some way to get across, like one time I saw deer but I couldn't get across to hunt them!)
- Cubs get stuck or lost cause theres so many rocks
- Sometimes since you can't get past the rocks up-top, it's kinda hard to get down towards the bottom of the mountain.

But all in all, the game is amazing and beautiful, especially the regular map. I do however, recommend it to other people who like animals, cats, no too realistic and non-multiplayer games. It's very fun and interesting, even after you play it for a while.
