Absolutely FANTASTIC! More Please!
I like the new simplified grouping of buildings into catagorized districts. I would have liked to have seen more new units and buildings. Also would like to see some imaginative Future Tech like the Deathbots in Civ V. Something like ray gun infantry, Upgrade Nukes to Ion Bombs that dont destroy buildings or leave radiation. This would enable the player to use a WMD on a city and take it without all the repair and clean up. The ability to switch to a space view and have upgraded satalites as a new WMD idea? Could also add space ships or attack shuttles to brinng a new layer to the science victory, making it more fun and interactive. Why not allow the player to actually send units to defend and settle the new world? A whole new Civ could be an interplanetary evolution/battle towards victory, rather than a continental only, but thats a different story. I feel new Ideas like this would evolve the franchise,(Much needed), while simultainiously adding layers of depth to the game. Hence making it much more emmersive, entertaining, and most importantly fun, not only for current followers of the Civ franchise but also for many new players that would be drawn to the new Civ experience.
It's a useless waste of money... I only have this since I bought the deluxe edition or something like that.
Not worth it, and was included as a major DLC in the deluxe pack of Civ VI. I feel ripped off.
Really not worth the moyen. Boring scenario.
I didn't realize it didn't include a new civ. What a rip off. Sid M - do you know what your people are doing? This type of action will lose you customers in the long term.
Although the DLC is not much,But it`s ok
look, we all want more civs. but this is maybe the best scenario in all of civ 6, and if you don't want just a scenario, you literally don't have to buy it! it's incredibly easy not to buy things!! just like... don't. if you _do_ buy it, you'll get an amazing scenario with a ton of replayability.
Should be in base game, OR a free update.
The greed is as overwhelming as the negative score, 2K/Firaxis
The Viking Scenario Pack for Sid Meiers Civilization IV is really fun. I in fact enjoy the viking game play better than the standard rise and fall, as I have played as both Norway and Denmark so far. I would definitely recommend this DLC.
honestly this dlc is not worth it don't buy the dlc don't do it resist the urge to buy don't buy this dlc
The scenario is boring but the city states and wonders are cool so it's meh
This is what we got instead of rising storm in the digital deluxe pack. In any other game content of this level would have been footnotes in a free update, but I guess they had to squeeze more money out of fans of the series somehow.
I bought the Viking Scenario pack and can not get into the Trading scenario!! It does not show on my Scenario screen. However the Australian Scenario is the only one that shows up??
I'm just saying that most people who get this scenario get it with the digital deluxe and therefore don't review the product. I find that the scenario offers a fun and challenging way to play which is great if you want a short and engaging game.
I bought this as a pack..... had i known that this was useless dlc i would of gladly not taken 10% discount, shame on me for not reading. Shame on you for being greedy with garbage content.
Honestly this dlc is not worth a dime. No reason to buy it.
Final Verdict: 3/10
WHY AM I PAYING FOR WHAT I SHOULD GET FOR FREE
WTF 2K
WTF FIRAXIS
WTF
SRSLY
Why is this not in the base game? I got it through the deluxe edition, so I kinda got it that way, but it might as well have been in the normal version. There's nothing special here.
形同虚设的云端游戏和联机功能,垃圾到令人发指的服务器。
Most terrible server I have ever seen.
I had fun playing the scenario, but it's really overpriced. If you want to buy this, buy it while it's on sale, or better yet buy the bundle on sale.
CRAP THEY MILK YOU FOR CASH, NOTHING ELSE.
I just played this scenario for the first time. I can't believe I won! I thought I was losing. This scenario was kind of challenging since I don't usually use a navy or military in the game (I typical beat the game w/ the other victories). I was hesitant to try this, but it was actually fun. Plus, this is more Civ 6 what could be wrong w/ that? If you love the game you may enjoy more of it. :)
Wothless. So much for the mighty vikings. My military loses almost every battle and even though i have Iron and horses i am unable to produce knights or other mounted units. Even with tons of gold I cannot research new tech and i am still shooting muskets while my enemies are using jets.
Only get this DLC if you love scenarios or are obsessed with civ 6. Why does this DLC have lots of negative reviews? Mostly because it was included in the digital deluxe edition and a humble bundle so lots of people who didn't want a scenario got one. It's actually a good scenario. Just overpriced for what it is.
There are lots of ways to gather victory points in the 60 turn scenario. Pillage, create new cities, increase your population, trading, conquering, and finding Vinland. It was fun to carelessly pillage things to get more points. The scenario wasn't too difficult at king difficulty.
So what if you don't care about scenarios and just care about the regular game what does this DLC offer? 6 new city states and 3 new natural wonders. The city states include: Auckland, Antananarivo, Armagh, Granada, Muscat, and Palenque. Two of the city states allow you to build new tile improvements. The natural wonders include: Eyjafjallajökull, Lysefjord, and the Giant’s Causeway. I would also like to point out that this DLC does not contain Norway like some of the other reviewers seem to think. Norway is included in the base game.
For most people this DLC is a waist of time but if you want to have everything wait for a sale and get it. I enjoyed the scenario and extra content but it's not for everyone.
Adds 5 new city states and one scenario
Yeah content that most civ players don't use and 5 new city states that are barley different from each other why does this even exist.
They could have at least added another civ
Bought all DLCs as a package without even notice this one. When I come back and check all DLCs, OMG, shouldn't it be an update instead of a DLC?
it's ok and i have money it not too expensive
Took one evening to finish the scenario and it was fun.
Only exists to increase the price of the full game
In my opinion, this is the most optional of all the optional content packs, and the one that least impacts your average game. If you are prioritizing the packs, put this at the end.
I like the city states in this pack, and I strongly value having the most variety in my games, so I picked this up. I do not remember how much I paid for it, but it is $3.34 right now. In my opinion, this is not much money, and I would add it. There is not much overall content, since I rarely play scenarios, but the price is crazy cheap imo.
You can definitely skip it, but if you are someone that has to have everything or wants the most variety in your games possible, then grab it. I would honestly grade this a "meh" but I only have two options for recommend. I recommend this, but only to players like me who want the most variety in games. Don't stress if you don't have this. You aren't missing too much.
this is a great dlc i do recommended.
I enjoyed it and don't mind paying for good content. Seemed like a fair price especially if you got it on sale.
Civ Rev is one of my all time favorite games. i love the re-play ability. The game has plenty of new challenges.
lmao bought the bundle for all the civ dlc for $5 total
i like that it adds new civs to play with or as.
Good scenario, pretty natural wonders and useful city states. Worth the price!
Scenario is arguably the most boring of the lot by far and doesn't offer anything significant to the main game. Absolutely pass up even on sale, instead buy ANY of the extra content DLC because anything is better!
Scenario is arguably the most boring of the lot by far
This scenario is just bad, I love this game and have played almost every scenario, but this one just stands out as the worst. I beat this on deity first attempt, It was not hard in any way, nor was it fun. Please do not waste money on this scenario.
Thought I'd buy this for a friend to help with some DLC but since it's now folded into two separate bundles I can't actually buy it singly (or indeed at all). GJ guys
This is a prime example on how NOT to do DLC. It is a useless and overpriced pack that brings nothing new or interesting to the game. Should have been free or 1/3 of the asking price. Only buy when heavily discounted if you really want all the "content".
The Vikings Scenario Pack does have value. The scenario's theme was interesting and it was fun trying to figure out the best strategy. After a few attempts, I knew how to win on Deity difficulty with any leader.
Six new City-States and three new Natural Wonders adds a nice variety to the game so that you don't play the same situation over and over again.
I purchased this in the Scenario Bundle Pack and it came out to be $1.29. For something like this, I would pay about $1.99. When originally released at $4.99, I would not have paid full price and would have waited for a sale. I don't hold anything against Firaxis for charging this price. They need to make money and they need to provide value in order to earn that money. I think there was a mismatch on the price and the value. I don't hold this against Firaxis. They are using a DLC model and have the ability to wait for a sale on Steam before I buy it. I love this game, and I want more content. I will just purchase it at the price that reflects the value I see.
I bought this for the city states and natural wonders. Still not worth it even on a sale. They should have added the other Viking kings as civilizations to play as, even if they were just reskinned Harald Hadrada.
I would suggest getting it on sale, such as now during the summer sale. If so then it can be worth it to get those city-states and natural wonders, as getting some of those can be game-changing.
Despite being "just a scenario", it's IMHO, by far, the best scenario Civ VI has released up to the date of this review. Very detailed, you can feel it's a hard work of love. I know many players rated this DLC negatively, but it's mostly because it was the first DLC released for Civ VI and part of the most expensive bundle this game had on release.
I'm not a personal fan of vikings (pop culture, actually, made me kind of hate them), but this DLC is pure gold, worth it's price.
If you, like me, love to play multiplayer Civ VI but don't have the time for a full length game, scenarios are ideal and this is the best there is.
Look at my play time and achievements and compare them with many of the players who rated this DLC negatively.
Wow, please give me my money back
Firaxis should give everyone who owns this pack an alternate Norway leader. That would at least give anyone a reason to buy this. Right now there is barely a reason to get this.
Add in Ragnar Lothbrok or Canute the Great as leader of England and Norway.
The barbarians are spawning like crazy especially you are trying to occupy the eastern areas: they keep spawning unless you have units there to light up the map... so disgusting...
Also the paths are too narrow in some places, especially when you pushed to Italy, where one unit could block the entire road.. don't understand the point of such designs....
This scenario is great, but you have to play it with other people. The Civ AI is pretty dubious at the best of times and it really can't handle all the extra point scoring conditions the viking scenario adds on. That said, playing the vikings scenario with two buddies is some of the most fun I've had playing Civ.
I can see how the pricing probably bothered people at launch, but it's worth trying out if you're picking it up in a bundle and like playing civ with other people.
very fun to play this scenario
adds nothing to the fucking game
BAHAHAHAHAHA you people just salty this isn't in the base game lmao
But yeah, scenario is terrible.
the best 4x game on the market
Skip - This DLC smells like Bethesda shenanigans
only good thing are the natural wonders, should have been free
I liked it for a bit of fun. I would recommend buying it if you want an immersive experience in Viking warfare.
How to play the Viking scenario.
Step 1 pillage improvements
Step 2 send great admiral to Vinland
Step 3 skip your next 30 turns
Step 4 win on DEITY
Maybe it could be fun in multiplayer, but it's unplayable in single player.
Just get the achievemnts and forget about it.
why isnt this free... theres not even a civ in it ffs man
The only reason why I bought it is because it was apart of the bundle
Merğhaba biğz viKingğiZ aVrupa ZumzUMlAYağkk

Canute and Olof are not in game whats wrong with this DLC?
I guess you could say this is DLC, if you were on 12 different drugs and currently comatose
I am really disappointed in this DLC. The scenario introduced is not really that fun, and the natural wonders is only middling. I do like the City-States included however, but that is not enough to save this DLC.
If you still are interested in getting this, I would highly recommend getting it on sale, or through the anthology pack.
it adds nothing and the little that it does add is terrible
Civ 6 is a good game but this DLC is a scam
We’ve been trying to reach you about your car’s extended warranty
Not worth the freaking money if they sold it for 0.09 then maybe it would be worth it....
come on civilization team... pure bulshit
It's a good scenario, or at least I very much enjoyed it. It IS overpriced, but the value of reviews based primarily on the mistakes some dårar made with their money instead of gameplay value is also grossly overrated.
Good job Fraxis!
Make sure this shit stay Overwhelmingly Negative
i think they needed money and released a patch with a title and a price
