- This review is just about the Character Creation & its Creation Sets -
I was a fool and bought the season pass hoping that the new part packs would add more to the games lacklustre selection; Every single pack is a disappointment. To preface, I dabble in 3D modelling, rigging, weight painting etc.
Pros: New stuff, a few choice items
Cons: Mostly lazy, doesn't fit, or already existed in a previous game (Not even a good selection of parts ported).
Conclusion:
- The staff working on these packs are putting minimal effort (Given the effort needed to actually port existing parts) or the B versions of already existing armor (With all work consisting of deleting part of the mesh, such as the wings or the lower part of a chest pieces).
- Each pack should ideally contain 100 pieces split between male and female (50 for M/50 for F), or have the 42 increased to 50 pieces that work on both male and female instead of the random part division (Since those 42 pieces are split between the genders)
- Any character Race that isn't Human (Human with ears, human with animal parts, human with horns, human with different texture etc.) will be "Shit out of luck"; Lizardman being shafted so hard the pieces it can wear don't even fit at all.
Base SoulCalibur V had a wider and more interesting selection than the current iteration. If you want to port items from previous games, port the actual armor or era fitting armor that the games actually have. Modders have added more worthwhile content, and that stuff is free.
Anyone else have problems finding Josie's clothes?
Pluses: Setsuka & Zasalamel came back, some of the old outfits from the previous two games, the very first game to have all 3 guest characters from different video game franchises in one game, instead of getting three different consoles to play as Link, Heihachi and Spawn [not counting the HD version for the PS3]. Updated graphics are a definite plus, character creation has their own story mode [kind of like Chronicles of the Sword], multiple race types, 100 character creation slots is a nice bonus, new techniques, returning weapons.
Minuses: voices don't match up at times, no Soul Calibur III outfits, hairstyles, not enough weapons, weapons aren't selectable during battle, no mutated Nightmare arm for the character creation.
To enjoy the game you will need to purchase all of the DLC. I do not recommend.
Getting Tekken pieces instead of SCIV and SCV pieces is certainly a bold move...
Half of the items are ported over from a free to play game and a different franchise entirely.
I hardly think it's worth paying the "developers" of this dlc even a penny when all they did was move someone elses hard work over to Soulcalibur 6
It's cool. And the voices are a welcome addition.
The Tekken items kinda suck, however, since a lot of them have parts that can't be recolored
Which kinda goes against the point of CAS
So... I am giving it a very mild thumbs up
You can do better
I like this pack, but like, wouldn't it also be cool to get items and stuff from older SC games? Like... a prime example would be the Soul Edge and the Soul Calibur from SC IV.
Like... Those two swords never looked as good as they did in IV imo
das ist gut
danke
