TL;DR: Buy this if you buy this at any point beyond this post. All but 3 expansions for a better price.

While I think it is completely valid that others are upset, if you are just getting this game now, this is honestly the best way to get it. This adds a boatload of content that I would have purchased seperately, had I not known that it comes with pretty much everything, apart from three DLCs which enter sales on rotation, it would appear.

Yes, they did CHANGE THE RULES after the fact. When I bought the Season Pass, it was described as giving me every DLC out then AND in the future, with NO EXEPTIONS LISTED.

So now, AFTER MONEY HAS CHANGED HANDS, they rewrite the agreement? Now, AFTER MONEY HAS CHANGED HANDS, they start making exceptions? And they refuse to honor the old wording for those who bought it under the old wording.

I'll not use the english five letter f word for dishonest in a public forum. I'll leave it to the lawyers.

And then the Shaman appeared... thats what I call scamming

The season pass for talisman digital edition is definitly worth it. You get all the content added later with the exception of a character made for charity. While the price may seem a bit high, the cost of buying each of these dlcs separately would be a lot more money. While the character packs are nice, the dlc expansions are a lot more fun. Each one adds new ways to change the game in fun ways. If you like talisman digital edition, then i recommend the season pass.

Talisman has been the Steam game I've recommended the most in the past. Going forward I won't recommend it at all. This makes me said but I'm now giving the Season Pass a NO vote. I don't care about the Shaman DLC one way or the other. I do care about being lied to though and the implication with the new wording that they can make any future DLC excuded from the Season Pass.

Dunno why this is getting mixed reviews? Well, here's mine, pure and simple. Some gamers like Talisman, some don't (mostly, IMO, because they don't like outcomes determined heavily by RNG).

But if you've never played it you should buy the base game for a dollar or two, or whatever they're charging for it, to try it out. Go ahead and take that much of a risk lol. Then, if you like it? A lot? And you can afford this season pass? Get it, you won't regret it. Tons of value. Even better if maybe there's a friend or two who like the base game a lot, and can get the season pass. Just saying, bang for your buck is off the charts high, here, IMO.

They have put so much into this game with all of the expansions and the different characters. It is fully customizable. This is obviously a true labor of love. If you enjoyed the board game you will enjoy this - especially if you have the opportunity to play against friends online. It's worth every penny.

I paid a lot to buy all future content this game. Hadn't played for a while and saw a new expansion so opened up and was appalled to realise that even though three expansions had come out since I last played I had access to none of them. I bought the season pass back when it had no certain value, being almost more expensive then buying the DLC separately and they broke that faith in them. I'm going to make note of this publisher and developer for the future.

Don't let the negative reviews dissuade making this purchase; it's well worth it!

A lot, if not all, of the negative reviews for this season pass are complaints about the definition of "future content." While it is true that Nomad said that all future content would be free, they changed the description of that back in 2014. Since then, people have been coming back and complaining that their "future content" did not also include all the new digital only content that the devs created. Also, since then the devs have worked with people who bought the pass with the "future content" description (which, to be fair, was only during a short window of less than a month) in ensuring that they got the future content the devs committed themselves to. That level of customer service in and of itself is enough to show that Nomad is a company that cares about their customers and want to put them first.

As for the actual content of the Season Pass; in includes everything that you would get with the physical game, plus some exclusive characters. This is well worth the price and is a great way to get the entire physical collection at a fraction of the price when compared to the physical board game. in addition to owning this Season Pass, I also own all of Talisman 4ed with all of its expansions and this is still my preferred way of playing the game. While there is something to be said about the tactile experience of playing the board game, the ability to click a few options and instantly be in a game is phenomenal.

Don't let the negative reviews dissuade making this purchase; it's well worth it!

Honestly cannot recommend this Game simply on the fact that the season pass promised all deals and there's quite a few does it does not cover personally do not trust this developer and most likely never will again.

First of all this review is for the Season Pass only. The game content itself is fantastic, and I would buy it again. However, the Season Pass promised all future content and it fails to deliver on that promise. I understood the Shaman and charitable donation exception. I did expect to receive other content as advertised, that after all was the point of buying the Season Pass.

They need to change the name to 4th Edition Bundle if the publisher will continue to sell this. They should have increased the price of Season Pass for new purchasers as new content was released, not changed the terms for the loyal early supporters who took a chance that the game could just vanish like so many game have.

I am very disappointed in the policy, not the game.

Really worthy Season Pass, knowing that they'll be a lot and lot more of content, from the official extensions to "handmade" characters!

Puppy Cat Underfoot

This is a good deal, regardless of what its price is at the time. As some have presented, being unable to earn the runestones is a bit of a downside as the only house rules regarding runestones are "use them" and "don't use them".

You'll easily spend over $60 buying a physical copy of Talisman, and a mini-expansion, USED. Still worth the value for the physical game.

With the Season Pass you never have to be concerned with buying expansions separately. Please avoid asking "when is such and such expansion coming out" on the Digital Edition forums. Come to the store page and click the "More" link.

Each expansion is added automatically when it becomes available, and a menu button is added to the Expansion and Rules screen so you can select the bits you want to use.

Diamond Raven Knight, Vincent
Diamond Raven …

If you buy this season pass, you'll get everything, released or not. Instead of dropping over 60 bucks later, drop it right here if you like this game

And for all the bullshit in the negative section of the review, all of you are idiots for dismissing a chance to pay for charity and still get in-game content

SLACKPLAN9

The DLC definitely gives the Digital Edition a lot of depth. Remember to enable the content in the settings, otherwise you will think you do not have access to this expanded content.

One of the best season Passes I have seen. With one purchase you get every single expansion that they have made or ever plan on making. None of these hidden extra payments and every time a new expansion is released its dropped into your collection. If you love this game and plan on getting all the expansions that add a lot more depth to the game, then buy this.

Othrandur

The season pass is a bald lie. You will NOT get all future DLC as promised. They unilaterally alter the contract and add excluded DLC to the lineup. Trust this company at your own risk.

EDIT: 2019-02-08

And yet another expansion that isn't included in the season pass was released today. Their excuse for the Shaman was that it was for charity. This time, they're stealing just to line their own pockets. Sycophants are free to defend this any way they want, but it's fraud, plain and simple and Nomad Games and Asmodee Digital are crooks who deserve criminal prosecution for their fraud. That's right: I'm publicly calling you thieves. Sue me for libel. Please. I have documentation to prove your criminal acts that I'd love to present in court.

I am a big fan of the board game. All in all this computer version manages to bring the feeling to the computer.
I can understand that it is not easy to bring all the extra rules on the cards into the game, but it takes ages for the programmers to correct the bugs they put into the game.
From the beginning they told us that they will implement all the board game expansions into this game. But they did not tell us how long this will take. If they keep on going as they did, they will not be finisched until 2020 or even later.

But the biggest dissapointment is the season pass.
They told us, that all future DLC would be included and now they start bringing out DLC that are not integrated in the season pass. In my opinion this is unfair. We bought the season pass and gave them the money in advance, so that they could go on with the project. Now they are playing games with us and try to squeeze all the money out of us, that they possibly can get.

Normaly I would have writen a positive comment, but this is so dissapointing, that I give them a negative comment.

If you like Talisman, I would strongly recommend getting it. The sooner you do it, the more you'll save later. Concerning situation with Shaman character, I personally (after reading Nomad's response and assessing whole situation) willing to forgive. Mistakes happen, and it's your ability to understand them and take lesson from is important (IMHO, of course).
P.S.: I bought Shaman separately and don't regret it =)

All these negative reviewers need to calm their tatas. "NO! HOW DARE THEY PUT MORE CONTENT IN THE GAME OUTSIDE OF THE SEASON PASS AND MAKE US PAY THEM MORE MONEY!" The only thing I've seen so far is the Shaman. Which to be honest is kind of lame since the description of the pass is ment to include EVERYTHING that releases including characters. HOWEVER, I really dont see it as a big deal. It is a miniscule amount of money for the Shaman whom from what I understand had to be modified from the original rules of the board game to be able to work properly in the digital version. Hence the reason why he wasn't included. Its a dumb excuse, but I can see the semi reasoning. It's not that big of a deal and some of these review I see are acting like this single instance makes Nomad the anti-christ and scum of the earth.

If you got the base game and enjoy it, then get this. It's good and adds a staggering amount of content to the game and will eventually add even MORE in the form of what appears to be 5 more expansions at the time of this review. I grabbed the gold edition for myself gave the extra copies I got to my friends. All of us had never played Talisman before and we spent a good 2+ hours playing on our first session and hadn't made it over the river into the inner area! So if you are a fan of medeival fantasy, and board games then you will most likely enjoy this.

Don't let the people bitching about the whole "they are excluding dlc from the season pass" shit. It was ONE character that was specifically made for a charity for disabled children (jusr goes to show how selfish the pieces of shit in this community are)....

The expansions add a HUGE amount of extra fun and excitement to the base game, I wish i could do a neutral review though because after YEARS the devs have yet to deliver even HALF of the dlc promised in this season pass.

Note: This review is subject to change when/if the developers get off their asses and create a stable release schedule.

7 Months on, season pass has not been updated.

Until the developers get into a proper release schedule, this review will be negative. I love the game itself, however having bought the season pass and expecting releases as promised, they have essentially abandoned this version of the game to focus on "Horus Heresy" and their other versions.

The next DLC at time of writing should have taken 1-2 months minimum, adding a tiny section and very little else to the board (No new cards, characters, anything other than a new ending) So far it has taken 6-7 months.

This should be the only and basic version of Talisman: Digital Edition. Get it if You want to play Talisman.

*edit*

Not once (the Shaman character not included), but twice was the description of this Season Pass changed.
I paid for:
"If you have already bought a copy of Talisman: Digital Edition, the Season Pass will give you access to all DLC Nomad Games will make for Talisman."

I got only the 4th Edition.

Strange practices by the seller.
Can not recommend, even though I love the game.

For those that are complaining about the season pass. Get real!

Talisman Board Game (BG for short) normally cost around $65 alone!

Each non board expansion for the Talisman BG (like the Reaprt) cost $25 each! Or more.

Each Board expansion for BG cost $40 EACH.

So, all together, you could be spending around $400 for Talisman BG and all of its expansions!

Right now, Talisman Digital cost less than $40 which includes the season pass. This is only about 1/10 what the BG would cost you. So, what do you have to complain about??/

I love Talisman, I've been playing it since it came out and it's always a good time with friends or alone against AI. The DLC just add a ton more stuff.
It's a pretty random game, but I love it

The game is actually great. I'm not reviewing the game itself... just the Season's Pass. The company originally promised all future content would be included, but has recently changed the wording and released a new expansion that is not included. I had already purchased almost all the content separately (for iOS and Android too!), and decided to buy the Season's pass to guarantee all future content. Boy was I a fool! Unfortunately, not only will I NOT support this business practice by NOT buying the expansion, but I will skip it on Android and iOS too.

To be clear, the game is fun. I'm reviewing the Season's Pass. It was a bald-faced lie. Now, it might still be a good deal for people that haven't purchased any DLC yet, but for those of us who have, be warned. Seems I got screwed.

wolfetom10

When I purchased the original Season Pass the terms were that ALL future expansions would be included, and they were right up until the new Beasts expansion, which inexplicicably was not included. I feel as though I was robbed.

What is this? I can't play it? But Season Pass includes all DLC? No, not any more!

So Season Pass DO NOT include all DLC.
So Season Pass do not get a Recommend.

Note that I bought the version of the Season Pass that said '+all content'.

I really enjoy this game but they lied bout the season pass. I got the pass because my kids and myself enjoy the game. I was like sweet all content is gonna be part of the pass. yeah the pass few dlc are NOT part of the season pass. if they would of just said hey we're going to make a great season pass but not all the dlc is gonna be part of it then things would be cool. if you break it down this pass is awesome but i can't get over the fact they lied...

bought this forever ago, was pretty great since they kept adding more expansions but now they're releasing new ones that aren't covered by this? fucking liar liar pants on fire, what the hell is this bullshit?

Taddy Mason

They definitely lied when they said the season pass was going to include all future DLC they make for the game. I don't like that at all-especially when it took 5 years to get all the things listed in the season pass now, but they managed to pump out 3 expansions after that in rapid succession?

I can't recommend this. The Shaman was bad enough, but I figured no big deal since it was just one character and for charity (allegedly). They they do this? Not cool. The only reason I would have recommended this season pass in the past was because you would continue to get all content they add to the game-now that they've changed their minds 5 years later, it's hard to recommend. The only other company I can think of that's done something like this is the now infamously fallen Bethesda and what they did with Fallout 4. These kinds of practices should be illegal.

I have been a long time fan of this game but when you lie to your fan base i draw the line season pass was to include all dlc if you wanted to milk us for more money do it right make a better newer version of the game including a 3d type board and we would buy it again but to just realease a bunch of dlcs and expect us to fork out for it im going to give you a hell no we wont go!!!

Porypal
Porypal

I brought this years ago, a time where they claimed that this would include all future DLC....

But why positive review?

I love Talisman, being a board game freak and lover of fantasies I fell for this game hard. Its a game of endless wonder, RNG Bull, betrayal and friendships, ones which I oddly find, the NPC's sometimes follow too.

I know I'm reading too much into this game but it truly has given me countless fun over the years.

So where does the season pass come in?

I brought the session pass to catch up and save some money in the long run, I'm proud to say that I feel like I got MORE than my money's worth from this pass. Do I care I don't get the new ones because they changed it? Apart from wishing they told us about this more clearly, no. I don't care. I don't care because the value of this pass, I believe, is insane. I don't care because this pass alone gives 100's of hours of fun, replayable content. Something which most games can't give.

Is it wrong they lied to make more money? Yes.

Does that makes this product bad? No.

The product is still amazing and if believe me, you really don't need the extra DLC to play this game. But hey, that's just me. Personally, if you love board games and fantasy, then get Talisman, and get this pass, if you still want more after 500+ hours then there's still more for you to play.

This was supposed to pay for all future content. The only reason I put down such a large amount of money at once was because it was a one time thing. I'm not buying any more DLC for this game.

Oni

Product not as described originally - I bought this when the game was still Early Access and supported the franchise before it even went live. When the season pass came out they promised all future content and then changed the details of the paid agreement to only include everything up to the point they pull an EA on us.

What is the point of a Season Pass when it took almost 5 years to get all of the content for it out and then immediately pump out 3 other expansions NOT included in the Season pass in quick succession within a year. I took a break from the digital version to play the physical version of Talisman and its many many expansions only to come back to see that there were a bunch of DLC that needed payment. Having pretty much ALL of the hard copy versions of the board game and supporting this game early on, this feels like a nice dagger to the back. Thanks Devs!

Kramit The Frog
Kramit The Frog

Well, I guess "all future content" is now a term that is open to interpretation. Probably a good value for what's in it. But to back out and change the description years later and continue to release content is scummy. Won't be putting any more money into this.

Shit company that lies to people about 'all future content' for an exceedingly expensive Season Pass. Ignore all of these negative reviews , they are false and missunderstood. This is AMAZING Value for any Host , because only the HOST of a game needs the DLC content , everyone elese playing enjoys it for free.

Now as for these negative reviews.

Here is a Screen shot of the content as advertised in 2014 , https://i.gyazo.com/05355ff9d8fd76acf8bc7126d1f36d47.png

As you can see it dose indeed state "Any future Talisman 4th Edition content released which is not listed here will also be included in the season pass."

What these negative reviews dont realise is that Talisman is now in its 5th edition and the digital edition is kept up to date with current day rulesets. You can read more about it here : https://www.dickwizardry.com/articles/2019/3/1/talisman-entering-5th-ed…

If it were an option I would give this a neutral rating. Originally I had a negative review posted. I, like many others, purchased this season pass as it advertised including all future content only to find out that the product wording was altered afterwards. That's still an uncool move and I am very bothered that it occurred in the first plate. That being said, the developer has posted that they will honor their former wording on the season pass provided you purchased it within the window of when they advertised it as including all future content. After a few emails back and forth the issue was resolved. I appreciate Nomad Games trying to do right and honor their word, but I still don't like that they changed a product *after* many had already purchased it. (Note: the missing content was added to my Nomad Account, not my Steam Library)

That aside, the game is great. It is heavy on the randomness factor and sometimes it feels like the computer cheats (I don't think it does, I believe it's Negative Bias at play). But it's still a ton of fun, mores so if you play with friends. I don't recommend playing with all expansions simultaneously, especially when it adds to the board real estate.

Yeah pretty much a way to screw people who supported your early works. I bought this said it would allow access to all future DLC. This is really annoying. Like on a whole new greedy level annoying.
I bought the season pass and thought I'd get access to everything.
Well I guess I was mistaken.
Now if I want the new characters and expansions I gotta pay again, and when more content is released, I'll have to buy them separately as well.
Clear cash grab.
What's even more annoying is how fun the game is and the clear sense of nostalgia I feel each time I play so I feel compelled to buy and keep playing

Flyingmoon

When I purchased this in 2016, it said all future content. I saw a response on here that said if you purchased it in 2014 when it first became available you should get it. Well, I hate to say it, but it was much longer of a period of time that said you'd get everything. Very much a disappointment to pop in to check, since I was thinking of buying a few keys for friends so we could play to learn that there's a bunch of DLC that I haven't gotten.

I'm okay with not getting charity heroes. That's a special thing, and I'd be happy paying for them.

I am NOT happy that I spent $45 in 2016, thinking I'd get everything they release for the game. I knew it was a good deal. I have a LOT of time spent in it.

ENG:
I bought Talisman and Season Pass on December 25, 2014. It looks like the words "with every single physical expansion" may be misleading, but the description for the Season Pass immediately listed all the expansions that will be included in its composition. Every year, I checked the list and noted to myself that the publisher is up to date - the latest promised addition - The Cataclysm - came out in November 2018.
In December 2018, it was announced the beginning of beta testing of a new expansion - "first expansion that is exclusive to Talisman: Digital Edition".
By this time, all the obligations for the Seasonal Pass have been fulfilled.
Some players do not understand this and, based on their personal grudge, try to convince other users that the Season Pass is not worth buying, even if you liked the game.
Seriously?
Bought the Season Pass and all the late expansions.
