This is the most boring anti-fun slog of a DLC All it is is raiders just boring raiders with healing bots u can run past everything and just kill key figures the coimbat is so unbalanced i think your just intednded to run past everything i literly can barley take damage from one enemy then get two shot by another they are the same enemy... This is technicly a spoiler but its so lame and honestly ruined the lore a fair bit the raiders arent people who gave up or were driven mad by the insane corpation driven world they live in its literly sifi drug magic nonsense like they had a cool concept and ruined it evrything about this DLC is not fun enemies take too long to kill just bullet sponges with boring AI and no new moves no new varations just the mediorcrity ive come to expect from this game but WAY WORSE then the rest the game isnt too bad but this DLC is garbage skip it entirely

I've never been a big fan of DLC bolt-ons for a game I really like, so I was leery of 'Peril on Gorgon'. But in a fit of existential gaming ennui, I bought it, and was pleasantly surprised!

'Peril on Gorgon' has a solid plot that ties into the 'The Outer Worlds" overarching story line really well. There's more great writing, back story, and kooky characters in 'Peril on Gorgon' that feel like they were lovingly crafted and not just a "cash grab while a game is hot" kind of DLC. Definitely worth the $15 USD I paid for it at the time of this writing and highly recommended.

Only a few hours in and it's already amazing, love the telegraph story telling, the unique environment, and especially the introduction, it also surely gives supernova the challenge it deserves, even though I'm supposedly over levelled for this DLC. Only thing is I'm tired of fighting marauders... they're a lot tougher with unique armour, but still marauders. Heard something about infected people, so I hope there are new enemies.

Kal

Eeeeh... It's alright, but it's more of the same, which is a problem in a game whose biggest problem is lack of variety. Gorgon doesn't look that different from other environments you've already visited, the new enemies are little more than palette swap of existing ones, and there are only three wholly new weapons - and they aren't that great.

Also, it treats the mystery at the center of the DLC as something with actual weight and gravity to it, which clashes with the dystopian black humour the rest of the game has.

All in all the other DLC is better. Its only real draw is the increased cap on skills and level.

Thumbs up for not being exclusive for 1 year. Atleast EPIC had the brains not to do this!

Edit: The issue has turned out to be the FOV settings. On PC if you max them out you will encounter a number of visual and functional issues. If you don't go above 80 or 90 though, the game works fine, and is an absolute blast to play. Hopefully they will fix the field of view settings, I did enjoy utilizing my entire widescreen monitor.

I loved the original game. Played that on MS Game pass all the way through many, many times. Was so excited for the DLC that I bought the whole game on steam along with the DLC pass. As soon as the DLC stuff started, the bugs began. Mouseovers not working. Lockups. Very disappointing. The game is, right now, unplayable for me. I should note, the base game played FINE till Byzantium and then when the DLC stuff became available I jumped in. That was when all the bugs started.

Honestly - this DLC ist frustrating and a waste of money. Like a lot of other players (just google it) the game can't be played properly any more. It crashes, crashes, crashes and crashes. I deleted my first review, since it looked like to work after a complet new installation. But hey, 45 minutes later, the game started to crash down again, to a point, where I cant even START it any more. Great.
Since I really don't look forward to download 50 GB AGAIN just to play maybe an hour before getting into this buggy crap again, I honestly think I won't try this again. Thats just a disappointment and waste of time and money.

Peril On Gorgon is an excellent DLC with high quality voice overs, encounters, and an intriguing scenario with a LARGE new area to explore.

Things to note-
This DLC is accesible after the radio free monarch quest in the main story line is completed.
This DLC raises the skills caps to 150 from 100, but doesn't require end game gear or levels to play, around 18-20 should be okay as long as you have tinkered decent gear.

You will laugh so hard in certain parts you may fall out of your chair, great stuff in here, don't forget to read the terminals, not tedious as most everything is voiced over, including a new audio log type item.

Merim
Merim

DLC worth to play, its as good as the main story although shorter but more challenging. Just make sure you are prepared for whats coming, they are as tough as the enemies you faced on the final mission, maybe more.

Peril on Gorgon is an amazing addition to the game that adds around 9 hours worth of content. This includes but is not limited to: 2 new planets (and new areas in/on planets/locations visited in the main game), new weapons and armor, several sidequests and a main storyline that is equally as chilling as it is thrilling. Betrayals, boss battles, branching storylines, a dark and intriguing mystery and more. This DLC has it all.

SyntheticControl
SyntheticControl

Interesting story with lots of new weapons and armors.

BruhSkemp

This really doesn't give that much content, despite waiting *this long* for it. Wow, a cap increase from 30 to 33. Amazing. There isn't even anything new aside from a couple of perks and maybe a couple of science weapons as well, everything else is just reskins once again. Extremely disappointing.

If you liked Outer Worlds get ready for more.... Outer Worlds! More of the same for better or worse. Story is a bit more engaging than the main plot but never colors outside the lines.

loci

Very interesting story, also very dark story. The post capitalist theme went from "haha funny whats a weekend" to serious and dark tones and even using hard grimdark gore in some cases... like way different from the normal game. I love that funky shit but it was really left field and might freak some people out... especially the "human cubes" in waste disposal.. gonna be thinking about that for a while lol.

what u get
Basically you pay for the story experience and I think it's worth it as the characters are great and story telling is brilliant. The "new" weapons and armour (theres only a few, the rest are retextures.. if that) add a bit of spice to the new locations but not much in the way of gameplay. Science weapons are fun af tho.

PRO:
+++++ Dark but enjoyable story with good 'lore' if you're into that
++++ New world spaces are enjoyable.. with one issue.. see cons
++ New weapons and armour are nicely done, if only a few are truely unique
++ Increase level cap is welcome

CON:
--- The main large area to explore is such as arse to move around.. there's 2 layers to it, but swapping between those layers is such a hassle and there's not enough fast travel points to make it easy enough. I spent quite a while just looking how to get down or up to an objective
- The new 150 cap lock-picking means a lot of locked doors stay locked on first visit unless u specialised in it
- The "best" ending requires maxed persuasion skill check rather than actual skill

Overall yes, deffinitly recommend this if you enjoyed the main story and esp if you like stories and dark tones... and human cubes.. dang

Acquire

Really fun side story that also brings a level cap increase and skill level increase. Map traversal relies a bit much on elevators. You don’t get access to it until later in the game, so by then the character progression system is kind of fizzled out. The main draw here is the story, which is well written and acted out, but not sure if worth it for that alone. I played this as part of my first playthrough. If I hadn't done that I probably wouldn't have bothered coming back to it. I don’t see myself playing the next expansion if it doesn’t bring heavy updates to the character progression system and weapons, which I doubt it will.

I'm confused why there isn't an epilogue after you beat the game so that you can finish the side missions in the game and so that it is easier to get onto this DLC. Its really stupid how you have to load a save so that you can actually play the game again. This DLC was cool, but just like the main game their is not enough content. Even just for being I feel like i'm getting my money stolen for 2 hours of gameplay.

Peril on Gorgon starts off extremely promising with the mystery attached to a severed hand which only heightens after a talk with the charismatic heiress of Ambrose Manor. Then the momentum just shrivels up in a corner and dies as you’re led through and backtrack through fetch quest after fetch quest. All the while, the would-be interesting lore behind Gorgon is crippled in its execution; being told mostly through dozens of computer terminal entries--ugh…

The overall quality of the writing is a mixed bag. The darker themes of the DLC are very much appreciated as the main game never truly delved into the ramifications of unchecked corporate superpowers running amok across the galaxy. This is what Peril on Gorgon does best and by far. That said, unlike games such as The Witcher 3 or Fallout NV, the morbid elements that pop up don’t work in harmony with the sillier elements and instead clash terribly. One second, you could be dealing with a spat between a group arguing over llamas and the next, you’re tackling the horrors of drug abuse and human experimentation. In addition, as this is one of the few instances the Outer Worlds truly follows through on some of its morbid concepts, Peril on Gorgon contrasts even more heavily with the main game which is especially jarring if this is played directly after. This DLC also has the misfortune of being fairly predictable which several characters including Minnie and Felix comment on. Issue is, if you’re going to have characters make fun of the cliche nature of stories such as this, you’d have to subvert expectations in some way or else you’re just having your meta cake and eating it too. There are points in the DLC where “twists” or horrifying revelations are uncovered and the player, characters and companions involved might comment on how they didn’t expect it or how shaken they are after but honestly, if you pay even a moderate amount of attention, nothing that happens should take you by much surprise. Having harped on all this, the element with the weakest writing still has to be the ending. The conflict is resolved far too easily and the DLC lacks a sense of finality when it ends, so much so that I actually had to double check my quest log to see if I had missed something as no characters or companions made any indication that everything had been fully wrapped up.

Much like Adrena-Time, Peril on Gorgon had an enthralling premise that was completely slaughtered in its sloppy execution. While there are some enjoyable characters and worthwhile elements, the overall DLC is a slog of backtracking, bland exposition, and tonal whiplash so I cannot in good faith recommend this experience. Here's to hoping Murder on Eridanos can do better.

This Peril on Gorgon DLC is outstanding. I love it

Apart from huge maps if you combine exterior and interior and see it as a total, that story line is amazing. If you thought FO4's "institute" was bad then you should brace for impact. Double brace. It's deep and horrible. Excellent gaming experience. And it takes forever. It's not just a flimsy appendix, it's a solid expansion worth a full game.

[DOOB] alebarbar
[DOOB] alebarbar

Good expansion that add's 5-10 hours of content to the game (depending on how much of a completionist you are).

I thought it was well integrated with the rest of the game, and has a somewhat stronger story that the base game (although still not fantastic - I thought the 'twist' was fairly clear in advance, and there were some points I never felt got resolved, although that might have been due to my lack of searching).

I'd recommend anyone playing through the game for the first time to buy this as well, as I think it improves the overall structure of the game by filling out the mid-late game.

Really enjoyed the base game so went for the DLC and was really pleased . Huge new areas to explore , all the good bits in the DLC from the original . It blends into the original game really well so looking forward to the next one . Wish there was a skip button for some of the characters long monologues though ( other than the space bar ). On a second run through it gets a bit tedious rather than immersive but is a good opportunity to get a drink or empty your bladder .

Harpy Grey

An overall satisfying DLC, though not without its flaws.

The added worldspace, equipment, player build extension is welcome. The unique gear expands on alternative playstyles, encouraging you to try changing your build.

The plot isn't bad by any means, fitting well into the grim setting on the game though it takes a mildly darker turn. For those who feel it matters, the companion dialogue and input is really flavourful if you choose to take them along. Where the story falls short is how it is told and the conclusion. While environmental storytelling is present and used well enough, far too many details are packed into the numerous terminal entries on Gorgon, which might not have the best impact on your gameplay experience and pace. Choosing the peaceful resolution option at the end also had characters change their minds way too quickly and easily - and while it can be written off as something the parties have long longed for, it makes them look like they lack the conviction they demonstrated prior.

Just like the rest of the game, I'd recommend it when it goes on sale. Here's to hoping the next DLC turns out even better.

Its ok. I didn't dislike it, but I found more to dislike than like. Reading 'Gorgon' I was expecting a Jungle since I am very used to 'Gorgon' representing Snakes. Some googing would show that I do not have Yugioh Brainrot, and this is, in fact, a correct reading. Obsidion likes their Greek Myths.

To be clear: Look at the screenshots. There is no jungle, and I am a blind fool. However: I would love a jungle. Just saying.

Anyway, my own foolishness aside, for your 15 American Eagles, or regional equal; You get a bigish map with some stuff to do. Its hard to navigate, and exploration doesn't offer much. Its weakest aspect is its writing. I don't know what all else could've been done but this should've had at least one re-write. The climax wasn't worthy of note, outside of proving a point I'm glad I looked up the implications for before making, and the resolution was lackluster at best, though I felt spiteful glee regardless.
Its not even a challenge, really, its just another setting for an otherwise good game. If you do intend to buy this, have TTD in a decent state. You know how the average foe is pretty fast? Gorgon says; "Hey what if speed But More." So maybe grab some perks related to it, before shipping out. Or don't, its your choice, really.

Oh well, whatever.
Just another notch in the belt of Captain Ascalon: Sharpest Shooter in the System.
Don't do drugs, kids
5/10 DLC. You can safely ignore this one. I hope the next one is better. Maybe spend more time on it.

Why did I complete this expansion? Probably, because I paid for it...

Looking back, this DLC just doesn't hold up during its initial run-through, and only generates more questions, when you're done. Get it if you're a huge fan of The Outer Worlds or simply a completist, or just wait to see if the next DLC is an improvement over this one.

Although I am a pretty big fan of Outer Worlds, Peril on Gorgon might actually be more enjoyable than the base game. While the main story in Outer Worlds at times suffers from a hollow "go here/ do this", Peril on Gorgon plays more like a focused space adventure. The actual environment of Gorgon is a ton of fun to explore and the amount of content is solid for the cost.

Corleogne
Corleogne

Great addition but with some flaws.
The map is confusing. Way to many terminals. They just repeat the same message. The loot is out of control. At this point in the game, 5,000 more rounds and 20,000 Adrenal shots is just too much. Oh my God, stop it. How many more weapons and armor? It's just exhausting. The plot-line fragments and doesn't connect with the original time line of this game. This story-line should have been inserted half-way in the major story-line (this is what happens without a well planned "future-proof" story-line).
Absolutely love this game. Thank you so much.

The Outer Worlds - Peril on Gorgon is an Action-RPG developed by Obsidian Entertainment.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2428402812

Gameplay / Story

What is “Peril on Gorgon” anyway?

If you open the Package, you can listen to an Audio message from the fallen Freelancer Lucky Montoya. He was on a dangerous Mission for Minnie Ambrose on the asteroid Gorgon. He didn't make it (so rather Unlucky ...), but promises a lot of rewarding loot.

When Minnie arrives, she explains the Job to us. Her Mother was employed by Spacers Choice on Gorgon and was a Doctor of some secret Projects. One Day when Gorgon had to be evacuated, the Mother was held responsible for everything. Minnie now wants to know what happened to her Mother and what Spacers Choice is hiding.

Full of Questions in your Head, however, you first have to research on Site: You should ask about Montoya in a Bar and the best thing to do is to find the diary of Minnie's Mother, who promises the crew almost all the riches of the Family. Of course, the whole thing has not just one, but a few catches, and over Time it gets more and more tricky the deeper you dig. Obsidian succeeds once again very well, especially with classy written Texts, to ensure the necessary moral gray Levels, puzzling nuances and also sympathy.

In terms of Gameplay, nothing has changed in the DLC. You can still use your special Abilities and take the typical Drugs from the main Game. So what has already worked solidly there isn't suddenly bad here. Of course, Peril on Gorgon can convince again with Humor, weird Characters and decision-making Power. Technically, The Outer Worlds is a bit out of Date, as it was with the Release, and especially cannot keep up with other Games. Here it is again the art style with the bright Colors and the perfectly designed Game-World that amaze the Eye.

A special feature of the Combat system is that we can slow down Time. At first this only works for a few Moments, but we can improve the corresponding skill as the Game progresses and later do almost all of the Battles in slow Motion. The main Advantage of this is that we can aim in Peace and Choose the respective Enemies - it's fun to enjoy this Advantage.

Pro

+ Great detective Story
+ fresh new Game world
+ cool Space stations, exotic Vegetation
+ Customizable tactical instructions for Companion AI
+ Decisions with Consequences
+ interesting and bizarre Characters
+ First-class / humorous Dialogues with rhetorical Influence
+ atmospheric Music, good Sound effects in Combat
+ new Weapons and Equipment

Contra

- no new Crew members
- new Game mechanics would have been nice

Conclusion

The Outer Worlds - Peril on Gorgon offers you a Detective-Story that will captivate you for 5-10 hours.

Gameplay / Story

Was ist „Peril on Gorgon“ überhaupt?

Pro

+ tolle Detektiv-Geschichte
+ frische neue Spielwelt
+ coole Raumstationen, exotische Vegetation
+ anpassbare taktische Anweisungen für Begleiter-KI
+ Entscheidungen mit Konsequenzen
+ interessante und bizarre Charaktere
+ erstklassige/humorvolle Dialoge mit rhetorischem Einfluss
+ stimmungsvolle Musik, gute Soundeffekte im Kampf
+ neue Waffen und Ausrüstungen

Kontra

- keine neuen Crewmitglieder
- neue Spielmechaniken wären schön gewesen

Fazit

The Outer Worlds - Peril on Gorgon bietet dir eine Detektiv-Geschichte, die dich für 5-10 Stunden in den Bann ziehen wird.

A good extension to the game.

The level cap and high requirement makes some skill checks impossible unless you happened to have specialized and maxed out that skill. Plot line is pretty good, and dialog is better than the primary game. Good intro story line, although the next DLC starts _way_ better.

Probably not worth full price, but on sale it's a good deal.

This DLC is a complete departure from the base game. It is very, very dark so be warned up front. There's a solid, emotional story which has a ton of lore to read through and a massive map to explore. A lot of very mature themes here, know that before you buy this. Very worth playing through, if you have the stomach for it.

The Outer Worlds is one of my favorite games and this DLC makes it even better. The story is really good and the landscape is beautiful, true to the game. Lots a new little details has been added, but nothing that really effects the gameplay.
In my opinion, this is flawless and a must play!

Peril on Gorgon is really not only an expasion to the game, but an improvement, the level design is so much better, and the story and mechanics added make the whole game better. It was a fun trip through Gorgon, and much more challenging and compeling than Emerald Vale or Monarch.

Peril on Gorgon starts out rather horridly with crazily level scaled enemies, lots of combat and the plot that so unashamedly “borrows” from a movie based one popular sci-fi tv show that I’m shocked they didn’t even try to add anything of their own to it. But as it continues, it does get interesting. It’s far less “safe” in the way it handles the topics and presents dilemmas, the characters and situations are far more interesting than most of what you get in the main game and while it is still a bit too much combat heavy than I wish it could be, it ends up being pretty enjoyable. Oh yeah, also the skill checks in this one get to silly levels.

Peril on Gorgon, despite the boring presentation of the plot and the flawed exploration aspect, manages to be a decent game. As a DLC, though, it could and should have been better.

Loved it, didnt get to 100% the gorgon quest, but I accheived all endings. The Electric Fling quest was bugged for me and I could not turn in the tapes to the robot or the guy, which was annoying. Essentially more of the game but slightly better.
Story: They figured out feeding the story through interactions, audio logs and sight was better than text log overload. Good improvement.
Visuals: Same style but different models, sky does look nice though. (Apart from the majority of enemies, I got to mention that re-skinning a enemy and attaching shiny effects doesn't really make it different try adjusting the model a bit)
Audio: Linked to story, they added more talking which is nice and audio is pretty decent.
Gameplay: Same gameplay loop no change, for better or worse...
Bugs: Here and there but nothing serious.
Price Point: Steep if full price, recommended on half price.
Playthrough time: 4-8 hours? Depends on how much you scavenge.
tldr; DLC that was improvement over the base game, get on sale.

An interesting adventure! The main game doesn't hold back about Spacer's Choice with their merry melody being basically Amazon or ActiBlizz: a corporate machine that eats people and shits out products, just as the main game doesn't hold back with drugs.

So visiting a desolate drug development faciltiy where the stuff you've been inhaling like it's oxygen got a certain "behind the looking glass" feel. As is customary for Obsidian, the worldbuilding & storytelling are excellent! It's of both high density and high quality, giving this thing quite the goosebumpy vibe.

Looks fantastic as well! Admittedly, I'm a sucker for such color schemes, but strong art style is a strong art style nonetheless.

I initially thought, that "peril" part is being a hyperbole to make it sound like some 60s SciFi flick's title, but it is very perilous indeed, it does paint a dense, bleak atmosphere for sure.

I very much welcome the increased challenge. It still showers you with resources, but I had to reload after getting killed more than in the base game. While playing on normal and above the recommended level.

Loved the core game, but left disappointed with this expansion. The story is mostly linear and looses the open world / choices matter experience of the core game. Also no real new content in terms of opponents, weapons, armor etc. And where the original story and dialog was engaging, I found myself switching off very quickly at the awkwardness of the voice recordings playing to recount the story of Gorgon.

Solid expansion for 'The Outer Worlds', delivering more of the same gameplay and a pretty solid new planetoid to explore. Plot-wise, I'm guessing someone was a fan of the film 'Serenity'.

I love how Obsidian seem to be taking the time to experiment with their game with this dlc, the tone is different, the way the story is told. Its classically obsidian though with it's great writing and world design. It takes place in a larger open area which was a nice change from the rest of the game which can be somewhat cramped.

A lengthy DLC adding a whole asteroid to explore and some interesting elements to the dystopia. The map is vast enough to justify a DLC, but exploration and story lack action and interesting characters.
Still worthy.

Peril on Gorgon felt to me like The Outer Worlds at its best.

The plot was involving, with interesting twists that for once were not drowned in the base game's relentless ironic gloss. There was an edge to this story—retrospectively very apposite, of pharma companies forcing harmful, unnecessary injections on the population in order to turn a profit—that the base game lacked with its forced whimsicality.

The game-play loop was balanced just right, with dialogue breaking up the combat-looting game-play at the right intervals. I think the expansion benefits from being primarily set in abandoned facilities, rather than living towns, so the lack of anything like Radiant AI becomes unimportant.

Having said all that, at full price I feel this is hard to justify. Happily, there are frequent sales, including of the “expansion pass”. If you enjoyed the base game sufficiently, this is definitely worth picking up on sale.

Peril on Gorgon raises the level cap a little bit and provides a whole new planet and adventures for a high level character.

Gorgon itself has 1 bar that acts as hub with many different characters in it, and a large map with lots of research facilities to act as dungeons. It terms of size and scope it feels larger than Edgewater but smaller than Monarch.

Mechanics wise the DLC doesn't add much, mostly the level cap raise and a few new items, which actually ends up being a problem. The two perks per tier the DLC adds are just there so marketing can say there are new perks. Sure you might be interested in one or two, but I ran out of perks I want shockingly fast still. I already felt like I gained little from level ups past 25 and this DLC doesn't improve that enough.

But this is Outerworlds and we are here for story and characters, and luckily here the DLC delivers. The DLC introduces itself when you get a mysterious package shipped to you and it has the best, most interesting plot hook I have seen in a video game where you gather your companions around the dinner table to listen to the recording of a dead man. It goes full detective noir on you, with dark mysteries and danger. The planet Gorgon itself is colorful and steeped in perpetual night, with plenty to explore. The story and characters are still pretty funny at times but overall this DLC feels much darker than the base game. Seriously. There are moments when you discover atrocities committed by the corporations and your characters literally say they feel ill from the sheer inhumanity of it. At times it felt a bit much. Also, a lot of the elements you encounter (research facilities, experiments gone wrong, and endless corporate memos placing profit over lives) gets a bit stale here. In the base game it was already getting pretty repetitive but I was expecting something new in the DLC.

Oh well. Overall I wish Gorgon added more mechanics and reasons to level up, and I wished they had something fundamentally different from the base game, but in the end it adds enough new and still does the old really well, that I had a good time playing it.

Can recommend for anyone who enjoyed the base game.

Main quest is incredibly fun and has a better and deeper story than the main game - side quests are hell because of the geographical complexity and lack of fast travel points.

Honestly I would say that this DLC is only for those who are hungry for more Outer Worlds. If you played the base game and wanted more, play MOE. If your still wanting after that, then I would say to play this.

I appreciate what this DLC tries to do, but the mystery isn't that interesting and the combat is mostly the same as what you got from the base game. It's not bad, just unoriginal and simple. This is defiantly the lesser of the two DLCs in my eyes.

So ya, more of a good this alright, but there is nothing entirely new or engaging here either.

I like this, but obvious twist, but then not obvious twist, but I think its a bit easy to get the "good" ending

I really enjoyed this DLC and I got many hours of gameplay out of it - most games would be over faster. The story is also pretty good.
Recommended. Buy it for a more jovial, light hearted Mass Effect type game.

Just finished my third play through of Peril on Gorgon. After finishing every quest and collecting every item i would have to say this dlc is totally worth it. If you enjoyed the main game you will most likely enjoy this dlc.

Great story that kept me engaged and wanting to find out what happens next. A big reason for this is the Gorgon asteroid itself being exhilarating to explore. Interesting locations, new variants of enemies and a amazing main soundtrack while you explore the asteroid. Seriously such a fitting soundtrack, works perfectly with the mystery of gorgon.

The beginning of the dlc being extremely well done IMO. Its been a long time since a dlc has instantly hooked me straight from the start but this one does it perfectly.

The dlc introduced some interesting new characters that did make me laugh on a few occasions and a handful of side quests as well. Most of which i thought were entertaining and enjoyable.

Not only do you have the Gorgon asteroid to explore but preexisting areas have been expanded upon offering new sections to explore along with some brand new areas as well.

Seriously take your time while exploring in this dlc as a lot of the lore is hidden in phonographs and terminals rather than through direct dialog.

Lastly some minor things which i thought were cool.
New science weapons have been added which you will find by playing through the dlc.
Your max level cap has been increased which allows you to acquire more perks and your skill cap has been raised from 100-150.
I am not 100% sure but i think a higher level gear of preexisting armour and weapons has been added as well.
The phonographs make exploring and listening to lore easier and more enjoyable and lastly all the companions have new dialog about the dlc. I would highly recommend bringing some along because it enhances the entire experience.

The only complaint i really have about this dlc is like the main game the "good" option which generally most will try to get in games is a very easy choice that requires little thinking. This is only a minor issue however and most likely will not heavily effect your enjoyment of the dlc.

There is a lot more i wish to talk about but i am trying to keep this review mainly spoiler free.

If you are looking for more content or enjoy the combat side of things in The Outer Worlds then I would highly recommend playing through this dlc because it is a blast from start to finish.

Please support the developers by buying this dlc, you wont regret it.

anyway thanks for reading my review and have a great day.

Pros:
* Great new music, new environments
* Some laugh out loud funny dialogue.
* Good questlines, also tied into main game locations so they get some necessary fleshing out (Byzantium for instance)
* Huge amounts of companion banter, comments and dialogue interjections. I want to replay it again with other companions to see what changes.
* Lots of use for the hacking skill, finally, not just lockpicking as in the main game
* Some skillchecks that are only passable if you have almost maxed out the skill.
* Lots of playtime for the price
* Some of the most challenging fights in the game, even at max level and 200 armor you can get killed in a few shots from some enemies if your positioning is wrong
* A "medical experiment" atrocities questline that might not be surprising to anyone who played Fallout: New Vegas or has seen Firefly, but nevertheless has lots of memorable characters and carry some emotional gut punches.

Cons:
* Farirly combat heavy DLC, and it gets repetitive
* Unbelievable amounts of trash loot to sell. You can of course not hover up everything in sight like a overpowered vacuum cleaner, but what self-respecting RPG player does that?
* The main map is fairly free roaming, but the questline itself is rather linear.
* I think I would have liked a bigger level range, so it could be something that opened up gradually as you levelled up instead of being possible when you are basically max level.

“Boy, that escalated quickly. I mean, that really got out of hand fast.”
~Ron Burgundy

Come on, people! It's just a horse armor! It's not like they're withholding an important part of the game to sell it to us separately, right?” Remember having such conversations back when Bethesda released their infamous DLC for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion? Man, things sure escalated quickly... I mean, sure, it was somewhat long ago, in 2006, but look at the industry now. They're selling us remakes of ages-old games, they ask $70 for them and good gosh, they can't even provide us with full experience for such money! I mean, seriously, guys? Seriously? Final Fantasy Remake: Part 2?!

And it's not even the worst example, since we also got full-priced games with microtransactions and those are not even that uncommon. Can you believe that it was only the previous Elder Scrolls installment that made us argue about horse armor being sold separately? Nowadays, Forspoken is like “Pay us $70 now and get the exclusive nails!. And people are, like, “OK, sure. Why not. I mean, nails, sure. Nails sound good.. It's a disaster. It's like we're paying for every single part of the game nowadays. Skins, weapons, characters, maps, quests... Everything is sold separately nowadays.

And when you look at The Outer Worlds from that point of view? It's not that bad, really. It comes with an expansion pass that includes two side-stories and will cost you $24.99. That's pretty much it. Pretty fair by modern standards, right? No microtransactions, no useless skins, no “pay to win” buffs or time savers... Just two story DLC's for $24.99. Like I said, it looks totally fine by modern standards. Unfortunately... I don't think we should justify things by looking at them that way. Saying that this stuff is good just because it's not as bad as some other stuff on market? It's wrong. The Outer Worlds was already a pretty small and limited game that didn't worth the full price. Now they're giving us Peril on Gorgon (the first DLC from the expansion pass) and ask $14.99 for it. I mean... come on! Reality check – for $14.99 you can buy a very good indie product in Steam. And what do we have here?

When you look at Peril on Gorgon, it's pretty clear that it was supposed to be a part of the main game. It's fully integrated into the main story, it adds a new location and it does make an impact on game's ending. In other words, it's just one of the locations (technically, there's more than one, but that's just how Outer Worlds galaxy map work) that was removed to be sold separately. Maybe it's good, though? I mean, all the wrongs aside, maybe the actual content is so good that it's actually makes this one worth it? Well... no. Not really.

I mean, it's not especially bad, but there's nothing really interesting, it's pretty straightforward (aside from the big Deus Ex-like choice at the very end), the characters are especially dull and shallow even by Outer Worlds standards, while gameplay is more action-oriented than before. Which is not a good thing, since, even though I kinda enjoyed tactical time in the main game, it's not really a shooter and if you need proper looter-shooter, you just go and play Destiny 2, or whatever. Ah, and don't expect any good story, of course. I mean, Outer Worlds never had a good story, but this time it's just yet another “evil corpos doing evil experiments” crap. No, seriously, was it that hard to actually hire a proper writer? Having an “evil lab of evilness” story nowadays feels like an insult. And when you add $14.99 price tag to it? Let's just say that the only way to get this is as a part of the bundle. With the big discount, of course since let's not forget that the main game is painfully overpriced too. Buying this one separately is an enormous no-no. Even though it does increase your level cap and makes an impact on game's ending. Dixi.

This game was different which I really appreciated. I put more hours into this than a lot of others I have in my library and since my attention span is fairly short, i think that says something. Normally if a game can't pull me in fast enough it gets side aside for quite some time and may never get played again. I loved the futuristic steampunkness and design of the characters and monsters.

More of the same, mostly. Quality is a bit lowered compared to the original game. To name a few issues, there are plenty of 10cm tall ledges on gorgon that you can't cross by walking. You have to jump.. Any locks previously requiring a skill of 100, now requires 150, from the very beginning of the game.

After playing the original, patience has run dry for the bad game systems such as skills, inventory and management, or rather lack there of. Using consumables is a pain as they are either tied to the inhaler along with too many other things, or time consuming to find and use through a poorly designed inventory system.

As the original was barely scraping by earning a recommendation, this dlc easily gets a no.

Do not buy this. It's like it was designed by a different company. I *LOVE* the original "The Outer Worlds" game. I *HATE* This DLC. The taint of some moron with an MBA is all over it.

They must have hired somebody from Activision/Blizzard to do the maps for this DLC. They've implemented the tiresome and all too prevalent cost-cutting maneuver of the "Rat Maze" map layout. They even intentionally took the roads off the main overhead map to amplify the rat-maze effect. You cannot enjoy the story. You spend so much time looking for some crevice in a weird looping maze that you forget where you are in the plot. It is so pervasive and intrusive that immersion is impossible. THE MAPS FOR THE MAIN GAME WERE *NOT* LIKE THIS. In the main game the story, the art and the mechanics were allowed to shine.

It's obvious that the 'Jerk-with-mba' and his sidekick 'The-Metrics-Pinhead' (the spreadsheet warrior) have taken interest and taken control. Pinhead said that the rat-maze will extend the 'play-time' metric. Jerk liked that his profit margin was bigger because smaller map cost less to develop. Neither considered the fact that longer play-time and rich execs do nothing for the purchaser of the game.

The only thing that speaks to 'Jerk-with-an-MBA' and "The-Metrics-Pinhead" is money. So vote with your wallet and don't buy this. Send the message to leave creative decisions to the writers, artists and developers. The jerk and the pinhead need to crawl back into their holes.

...The dissonance of a game set in a " Post-corporate Apocalypse " being ruined by corporate meddling is so depressing.

As gaming consumers we need to stop rewarding this predictable cash-grab nonsense.

A very good DLC for a very good game. This one has one of the best locations in the game that has a very unique and unsettling feel to it. The story goes along with that mood as well and has a similar narrative flow as the main game in condensed form. Not too much in the form of new weapons or unique enemies which for me isnt a huge deal mainly because it manages to seam itself into the game well and so outlying unique objects might mess that up. Overall definitely a good DLC that you would enjoy if you enjoyed the main game.

I found this PoG DLC to be interesting, challenging, and overall a nice add-on for TOW. It came bundled in the Non-Mandatory Corporate Bundle I bought. The visuals were nice, music appropriate, and new characters worth the time. Two Thumbs Up - Cheers

This DLC is pretty average. It's a bit more Outer Worlds goodness, but it seems to lack the "interactiveness" that the base game has. Combine that with a short, very superficial story and it ends up being very forgettable.

However, this is an essential DLC to play if you want to do a melee build. All the good weapons here are melee.

This dlc has been a bit of a letdown the story's not massively interesting I see the interest in the drug part but beyond that its not very good theres not many quests that I could find to do in this dlc thats not the main story and I saw the mystery coming a mile away and the ending was lackluster at best I feel good knowing I got this Dlc together with the game at a very low price.

Pretty good, but not as much choice of endings as other quests in the game.

Also, the Electric Fling quest is bugged so you can't finish it.

Reviews that like this expansion for its dark and fascinating story, and reviews that dislike it for its heavy combat elements, are both giving you important information about how good a time you will have here. I thought the story was quite compelling, particularly in fleshing out some elements in the main game that are present but not spelled out explicitly. This definitely went a long way towards making the heavy combat passable, particularly given there are a couple of areas where non-combat skills can make fights easier.

Not sure if it was just a coincidence of which companions I brought along because they are my precious friends (Parvati and SAM), but the companion interactions with the world are just fantastic here, and really helped solidify how enjoyable this whole extra chapter was to play.

Overall, if you are enjoying the rest of the game or the other expansion, you certainly should pick this one up, too. And, of course, talking to you here Gearbox Software, this game deserves kudos for actually giving you all the future paid expansions if you bought the "all future paid expansions" version of the game.
