Mindless arcade 3D low poly shooter where you fight endless waves of enemies complete with roguelite progression system, it's fun for a while but that's it.

Game fully supports 21:9 display aspect ratio.

Got this for under a buck and love it. It's got some good strategy required and each run feels different thanks to the drops you get. A twin-stick shooter that was $5 or less that I can see myself coming back to regularly is an easy recommendation.

Really basic and Really fun!!! Simplistic but tough at higher levels!! BUT annnnd this is a big but, the screen gets stuck in higher levels and you just to quit the game and lose progress ti fix it. Very Bad in that perspective!!

Currently my favourite twin stick shooter game. I started playing this on PS4 and loved it so much I just bought it on Steam and also my Switch. I love the simplistic art style which allows you to focus on the job of killing nasty red thingy's. Co-op is also great fun as well. This is a game I will always have installed.

Was really hoping that this could be the next Crimson Land - a simple but satisfying mouse and keyboard shooter. Sadly, the lack of variety in the enemies and weapons, combined with the bizarre decision to have both ammo and overheating limit players meant that I got bored very quickly. There are some good ideas here, and it can definitely be fun for a while. But it's missing the special something to keep you coming back over and over again.

A clean and simple twin-stick shooter. If you love those and really need a new one to scratch the itch go for it - it's just $5. But otherwise there are many better ones out there.

There's no real progression or sense of purpose in here. It's just you and hordes of enemies, ruined buildings, and random pickups. By accumulating total score you unlock new weapons or ingame perks, sure, but most feel just the same as the other ones and there's no permanent upgrades of any sort. In that sense, it's not really a roguelite but just a good old arcade twin-stick.

There's no real purpose in getting better or lasting longer though. The leaderboard is pointless, there are almost no ways to affect your score (one random 2x score pickup), no permanent progression, no stages, no enemy variety, nothing. Even achievements are only based on your score.

A fun 3rd person shooter. I'm not always sure collision detection is correct, but it's a minor problem.

Great game

There does seem to be a bug, where selecting "Storage Compartment" doesn't give you the extra weapon slot.

Wild and excellent seriously a blast to play when you want to blow a lot of shit up. Balanced gameplay, challenging leaderboard, fun to build your gun in different ways.

The concept, explosions, weapons and simple 3D graphics are great, but It's the constant annoying circa 1990's popup menus and lack of level reward that takes the fun out of this game for me. The game is Ground Hog Day that just goes nowhere.

A great minimalist twin stick shooter. It reminds me of a slick abstract take on something akin to 10 Tons' Crimsonland.

Super fun and excitiing! Nice and simple RPGish "character" progression: basically the score you get during the game is XP and you unlock new weapons (to be dropped randomly during the game) and new power ups :) Plus you get "per game" upgrades in terms of perks that you choose from a random set. Sometimes luck plays a big role (a nice combo of drops can help you get out of a really bad situation). Some of the later enemies feel really tough (like the hexagon turrerts).

All in all the game reminds me of Geometry Wars with lots of flying debris on the screen and simplistic pure and fun destruction.

I've just started the game yesterday and then bang, suddenly almost 7 hours passed!

My initial opinion is that the game has a nice, clear menu, readable without unnecessary complications. The music fits perfectly into the atmosphere of the whole game. Fast, dynamic gameplay makes you want to try to play again even after a defeat.

I hope to reach the top of the scoreboard soon! :D

Inexpensive polygon-destroying shooting fun. CrimsonLand is aged, and its time for a new quick dose of gun-play violence. Would like to see unlockable player "polygons" with characteristics and aptitudes (!). More weaponry and powerups are always welcome - hopefully the developer continues Destropolis efforts.

Lots of replayability for some tactical fun. Great stress reliever and there aren't many simple shooters like this anymore. Fun to just destroy things.

maniac1168

no replay value, you run out of ammo almost immediately, enemies scale in difficulty, and in order to match the difficulty you NEED to get extremely luck on weapon drops AND upgrades

I think it's just using basic unity cube shapes...but holy crap, it shows how mechanics are everything when it comes to fun gameplay. Simple to learn, yet punishingly addictive. It's a buy.

The new update is lit.

My old review was still recommended, but I listed a litany of complaints and it was very negative overall.

That old review is wrong, so it's gone. Of course I still recommend the game, it's a blast.

So many things have been tuned, changed, and improved across the board.

It's a bit easy to start now, but it's sooo fun. Explosions everywhere. More guns, better guns.

If you want a chill game to zone out after a hard day, this is your ticket.

You get to be the conductor of a ballet of destruction, good luck have fun.

Proof that a twin-stick shooter can be a work of art.

Destropolis' minimalist art style is bolstered by intelligent gameplay with precision weapon and skill mechanics, and persistent level progression across play sessions.

The aesthetics and gameplay are elevated by LukHash's beautiful synthwave soundtrack and the integration of tempo manipulation with Bullet Time works to create a beautiful example of digital love.

the perfect game to kill time. you are an angry octahedron that brings only destruction and pain, and the more time passes, the more powerful you get. but don't think that this game is easy, because the red

I like this game and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, stylish shmup, but I'm also frustrated with some of its design decisions.
Like the best shmups, you have to manage a lot of things at the same time in order to be successful.
Short term: Red shapes are all around in desperate need to be shot by you. They start off small, but as you progress they rise in size, hit points, and lethality. Destroying them earns you points and sometimes items. These items are either active-use guns or passive-use items.
Guns have limited ammunition. Continuous fire overheats them. You can carry and switch between two at once.
Passive-use items activate on contact, last a limited time, and enhance your own combat effectiveness in multiple ways, including speeding up your movement, nuking the immediate area, and doubling your weapon's rate of fire.
Get hit and your shield will take damage. Don't take damage for a time and your shield will regenerate. Deplete your shield and subsequent hits will damage your health, which can only be restored by an item. There's also buildings strewn about the play area metropolis that fall apart get destroyed real good.
Long term: The points you earn raise your level. Each level, you can select a buff. These buffs include effects like gaining more ammunition on weapon pickups, item effects lasting longer, and increasing the rate that certain items will appear. Combining these effects is key to surviving as the run goes on. However, the buffs available at each level-up is four or six, chosen at random.
Some guns are better to use at different times during the run. Others I would be happy to never use again. Same for the passive-use items and buffs. You earn new guns, items, and buffs as your aggregate score (across all runs) rises, but you never gain the ability to turn any of them off. So you like that Minigun and you wish you saw more of it? The most you can do is use the "Favorite Gun" buff to boost its likelihood of appearing by 50%. But you can't, for instance, take the Magnum out of the rotation so that all of the other guns show up more often. It's deeply frustrating to have an idea of what you want to do each run and be stymied by randomness where your abilities are concerned.
Another shmup, Beat Hazard 2, allows you to select your loadout before you start a stage. You can arm your craft with four of several weapons. Ammo for them appears at random, but you'll never see ammo for guns you aren't armed with. I'd like to see something similar in place for Destropolis, but the way that the game works suggests that the developer wasn't interested in giving the player complete control over configuration. This "random, run-based" game design still hasn't run its course yet, so I guess I'll just have to look forward to a Destropolis 2.
Or make my own game. Hmm...

Destropolis is a fantastic, minimalistic game about shooting red blocks to collect points, weapon drops (with limited ammo) and power ups.

It is the kind of game where you try to get the next highscore and is like some kind of drug.

In my opinion the only negative thing about the game is the unlock system. It would be perfect without it and takes way too many points for the unlocks.

The year is 2020, and you are John Crimsonland.

You have been turned into a glowing octahedron and transported to that one part of NieR: Automata.

The color red hates you.

Destroy.

It's fun, and extremely satisfying. Hard to stop playing, tends to get you with "one more run".

The enemies are simple, but read extremely well, and their disintegration into chunks is really visceral.

Also, the game makes use of its simple visuals to run really well. I was getting ~300 FPS

The game is simple, though. One mode (endless), with ever more complex polyhedrons trying to forcefully change your topology.

Just some simple, cathartic fun.

Quick review. I played one time kicked some butt, died, and came to post the review. The game is a fun Bullet Hell game and for the price you really can't beat it. The weapons are great. I love the shotgun I really feel like I can do some damage with that thing. If you like bullet hell style games then challenge yourself and your friends to see who is better.

This is an absolutely great game! You are a blue diamond block. Your only objective? Survive.
I've only played this as a one player mode, so I'll speak to it at mostly that level. Its so much fun to log onto this game for a few minutes, and run around destroying red blocks for as long as I can survive. There's definitely an element of skill to it, but even if you don't really know what you're doing you'll still have fun. And if you die? Well, you can start again! Over and over.
The graphics are simple (red block enemies, you as a blue diamond, and of course white buildings) but it's really fun to look at, and so fun to mix and match different upgrades.
Definitely worthwhile, especially for the price. I would highly recommend!

What a delightfully visceral experience.
I came in expecting Crimson Land and while it's pretty much that (leveling, perks, weapons, powers), the updated visuals in Destropolis make for an absolute joy to play.
Picture setting off a nuke, in slow motion, with hundreds of enemies and buildings on screen, all fully destructible while a thumping soundtrack narrates the whole experience and you've got one heck of a game.

this is very clearly a love letter to crimsonland, and one of the better ones ive played. very straightforward, very fun, and difficulty escalates quickly... as with crimsonland, very dependent upon which perks you get on leveling... get lucky, and youll go far... dont get lucky, and youre in for a bad time and a short run. but thats ok, another run is only a click away :)

A pretty ok twin stick roguelike. Nothing crazy and seems a bit low effort but the minimalist style works for the most part. The concept is really good, turn on some fast paced music and you are in for a trippy experience! but for me personally it lasted for a very short time (around 20min), and that's being generous since the last 10 min was the same thing, me holding down RT in the controller and go around blasting blocks. Well I won't be playing it again as it is, but I won't ask for a refund either, I like the idea of supporting the dev so he maybe is going to implement some more variety? Levels? Different Characters ?

Technically this game works well on Linux with a Xbox 360 USB controller. And the game loads quickly.

It's a good shooter, with a lot of variety in term of weapons or tweaks appearing at random. Some are really satisfying but others are just boring (so I try not to catch them).

But the frantic rhythm comes to a halt at every level where I have to select some sort of ability. It does not just pause the action, but choices on offer also lack a description. So I quickly select something which I hope will be fun or do more damage without being sure. That pause and that uncertainty are really NOT fun at all. The user interface at that time is also poor.

Any good arcade game should have a high-score list. But this game lacks that. I do not really feel the need to beat anything. I do not really know why I should play that game, I do not feel attracted to start the game because I'm not sure why I should play or what for. It's a time sink without any real goal. It feels like a demo rather than a real game.

Finally, the game has barely been updated since 2020. It's a very basic game so it had few bugs. But that inactivity also show that the game is not going to be improved.

Conclusion: Meh.

In contrast, the demo for Uragun is a lot more entertaining ...
