all 80 levels done
in general, a good casual game.
most levels are easy except that three or four levels > 70 are a little challenging
It was good about introducing new elements gradually so you could easily figure out how to play the level and utilize the different mechanics. The game allows you to undo all your steps so if you get several steps into a level and then realize you made a mistake, you could just undo back to that point. Alternatively, if you're completely lost, you can just restart the level.
I did have a couple of issues on some levels where Love or Hate did not appear on screen. They'd reappear whenever I went into the menu and restarted the level. Otherwise, it was a relaxing, casual, and predeominantly uncomplicated game.
Nice idea, cute graphics, and 80 puzzles. Some of the puzzles were very easy, some were more difficult. In a couple puzzles I really had to stop and think how to solve it and try many times. Sometimes the first mostly obvious idea turned out to not work in the very end. Good thing that you can rewind any step back, or fully restart the level if you find out that you really went wrong route to begin with.
Some puzzles I got the feeling I solved them in a way that the designer did not intend as the right solution, as in, in one level I managed to basically skip everything and take a shortcut to the end, and in some other levels I didn't use nearly all the items available. It could be that the other items were a trap and there to make you think of solution using them to make it harder, and the real solution is as simple as I found out, or then I really did manage to find alternative solutions to some of the levels.
With multiple hours of not too hard but still challenging enough puzzling, I would recommend this game, but the asking price for the amount of gameplay is a tad high. In a bundle or with a discount, then sure.
Another puzzley-puzzler! Got this in a bundle, yet not my kind of game. Had higher hopes of seeing something spectacular, after playing Tiny and Big. Well, it works fine on ubuntu linux, and that's important. Worked on my lowend ubuntu laptop. I just couldn't imagine playing this on anything besides a touchscreen. Does steam even run on touchscreens? Anyway, no story, the voices are the characters saying "Hate, Hate, Hate" or "Love, Love, Love" over and over (annoying!) while they use their very, very simple actions, so soundtrack, graphics were ho-hum, umm, nothing compelling me to even care to play this game, except a chance to see another puzzle. Just steer clear of this one.

About the game.
Ingame Information.
The game is rather easy to understand. You are playing with a "Good/love" or "Bad/Hate" Character. You are able to switch from characters from time to time, which is needed to bypass certain obstactles. In every match there will be a red button and it needs to be touched by either one of the two characters in order to finish the level. There are lazy characters in the game which needs to be controlled by one of the two characters. If you have selected Love, the lazy character will walk towards you but the lazy character will walk away once Hate has clicked on the character.
• Gameplay is rather easy and not too complicated.
• There is an undo button which will make the game even more easier.
• You will only need a mouse for this game.
Miscellaneous Information.
• This is most likely a puzzle game for kids.
Other things.
While puzzle games are not bad and usually is challenging. However this game isn't difficult at all with the undo button. If you have made a mistake you can easily undo 1 move and fix your mistake. Therefore i can't give this game a high rating as the undo button is making things too easy.

I Give this game a 3/10
TL;DR: This is a cute enough game but it doesn't offer enough variety and creativity puzzle wise to keep me engaged.
Though it sports a cute cast and a nice idea the actual gameplay can be best described as monotonous.
Its puzzles are all very similar and mostly build up complexity by just adding to your workload, rather than adding new mechanics, which are far and few between, making it feel a lot more like a chore than an interesting brainteaser.
This is exasperated by the fact that the game has one song per world and in two voice-lines between all of the characters, which are repeated every time you preform an action; admittedly cute at first, but they wear thin really quickly.
Lastly, the mobile port controls of having to click somewhere for the characters to move or preform an action on a target really don't help. You have to wait whilst your character slowly moves it's way to the designated target, or you accidentally move a block from its position because you clicked too closeby, where simple DPAD A+B controls would have been a much smoother and satisfying experience.
All in all, this really brings down an otherwise fun looking concept. Since buying this game I've played it on and off again because I really haven't seen gotten to much of its content but every time I stop playing it fairly quickly because of these reasons: the gameplay itself just isn't very engaging on an intelectual or entertainment level.
Stealing an idea I saw done here to help me get through my huge backlog of games on Steam. Going to play about an hour of each game I have and review it based on my impressions within that time. Wish me luck.
This is an odd one not to recommend. It isn't a bad game, just not really much to see here. It is a simple puzzle game with a simple mechanic loop with a cute idea to tie it together. I found the little Love and Hate sprites endearing and funny for a little bit, but about 30 minutes in, I found myself getting bored.
It has something of a mobile game appeal to it and doesn't do anything all that special. By the end of the hour, I was very done, but I felt like I got to see plenty of the game by that point. I wont be returning to it though, so that alone gives it a negative mark. I don't Love or Hate it (see what I did there?), I just sort of meh it.
A small game for a small price. The game feels well rounded and intuitive. A good choice for a few hours of solid riddles. If you are a person that gets bored easily this game will most likely not be for you. I recommend buying it on sale.
An surprisingly fun and difficult puzzler with simple mechanics. Game starts reasonably easy in the early levels learning the different mechanics of the game and progresses to very difficult puzzles in the later stages.
The graphics are good with the differentiation between units plainly observable. Don't listen to music so cant comment on that.
Game is totally mouse driven with extrenely intuitive interface.
I only have 6 hours in game but spent at least twice as long offline thinking about how to solve the puzzles.
Highly recommended as a casual puzzler, but strongly suggest picking up when discounted due to the short length of the game.
Its an odd issue to have but it honestly had too many levels. I became disinterested in actually figuring out the soltuions and eventually just looked up all the solutions just to emotionally feel like i finished the game. Its a fine concept and will hold your intersted, but I think it operates better as a mobile game -- playing a level here or there. It doesnt work well for an extended sit down experience.
The Bad:
I had an issue with the cursor not appearing. The following fixed it:
navigate to:
User\AppData\Roaming\About Love Hate and the other ones\settings.ini:
Open the "settings.ini" file with Windows notepad and insert the following text:
[Input]
HardwareCursor = false
I would suggest to the designers they add a choice of difficulty settings as many puzzle fans will find a lot of these levels too easy, especially when replaying.
The Good:
An ingenious concept, a touch of humour, and charming visuals.
I bought it for less than a pound, and at that, it's excellent value for money.
This is a fun puzzler, good for several hours of enjoyment. My total playing time is 9.8 hours, and that includes being stuck on a few of the levels for an hour or two. There are 80 levels total, and I found the puzzles until level 69 to be straightforward and relatively easy. From level 69 onward, however, the difficult increased greatly, to the point where I had to exit some of them and come back later to try again. This game definitely requires the ability to plan ahead, especially in the later levels. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase and I definitely recommend this game to those who like puzzles.
Interesting Puzzler with push(Hate) and pull(Love) mechanics. The puzzles remain relatively simple until the last 10 or so puzzles which require a little more thought, and greater satisfaction for having completed them. Perfect length for this kind of game, as a more extended campaign with the same mechanics could have become too tedious. Definitely recommended.
This game has an amazingly rich and deep story over the classic conflict between love and hate. Can love exist with hate around, and can it survive without. The dialoge, all voice recorded, is breathtaking. It really sends chills down your spine with the profound and witty banter between love and hate. And to add even more nuance to this epic tale they have managed to cast the emotions lazy, dead, gluttonous hat and teleport. You came for the puzzles, but the story turns out to be the real game.
Jokes aside, it is too easy and too long. Not really too long, but with most of the levels just being stuffing without any challenge at all it drags the experience down. Quite a few of the levels I suspect being design with a complicated solution in mind, but due to poor design there are multiple easier solutions available.
At a discount and if you enjoy fairly easy puzzle in a pleasing enviroment, go ahead.
Cute game. Pretty simple mechanics, challeging gameplay, and cute artstyle. It's a good time killer.
bought in a bundle of 3 games , this is the one i was least keen on but it has trading cards so i play a bit for them
I'll preface this by saying this isn't my type of genre of game, and not sure how I even got it. That being said, for those that are fans of platformers and puzzles, I think this is a nice little game. You control 2 characters, love and hate. Love pulls enemies to you and hate pushes them away. You move the enemies around to progress through each level.
PROS:
+ easy to play. Can use only mouse, or mouse and tab button
+ cute graphics
+ nice concept
+ has a feature to let you move back a move if you make a mistake (repeatable as far back as you want to go)
+ basic tutorial for basic gameplay
CONS:
Since this isn't my type of genre and I don't play it much, there isn't really anything for me to compare to, to know what it doesn't do well.
Nice puzzle game, levels are solvable, some are a bit harder, especially around level 68. But take a break, and you'll be able to solve them without cheating.
A puzzle game with alot of puzzle..that what players want when they buy a puzzle game, but what make this game different from other puzzles games is they are no jumping, special properties, save game or even a story.
for every level your goal is to each the red button to complet the levels, every level is harder than before,
its simpley fun game to spend time for your kids or in office and to train your brain a little
6.5/10
DIRECT REVIEW
This is a great game to let the little nieces and nephews play.
At about a dollar per hour, you'll get your money's-worth out of this
...unless you're bad at puzzles - then it will take you a lot longer than that! Hahaha.
You can beat this in about 3 days - maybe 1 if you really commit to it, though, I'd recommend taking breaks occasionally.
As far as kids go, I think a game like this really teaches them to think things through and have a "big picture" sort of spacial awareness. The "Cold Ones" that you'll encounter later in the game will also give a feel for the absolute basics of interacting with angles.
Most of the puzzles are easy...ish. There's a few that I'm not exactly sure how I managed to solve them.
This game introduces mechanics to gameplay very well, though. It may be a fairly simple and somewhat small...ish game but you'll be very unlikely to find yourself in a situation where you're frustrated because of not understanding what you're supposed to do. I think this game is quite clear about what you're supposed to do. The only frustration might be in figuring out HOW but if that frustrates you, then this game isn't for you - because that's the whole nature of it as a puzzle game.
There's no level editor, or randomly generated maps, or anything, so if you're looking for a game that you can play for the rest of your life, this isn't it - but if you're looking for a cute, and fun, relaxing...ish, unique experience that should test your mind a little bit, for a short while, this is it.
A very charming puzzle game. The difficulty was well curved and it only got hard after the 65th level (80 levels in total) . About 6 hours of content
pros:
> very charming
> variety in levels and "characters" that you interact with
> good level design and unique mechanics
> good curving difficulty
cons:
> not much of a story
> no achievements :(
Great puzzle game,
Simple Mechanics and yet such a fun game
Great for playing whilst listening to a podcast or a long vid
Fun puzzle game with a bit of a twist. You control one 'creature' which repulses and another which attracts. The first part is a little too easy to solve the platforming puzzles but it eventually ramps up into a very difficult ending.
This simple puzzler keeps things super simple. The love-hate mechanic is pretty easy to understand, and cute cutscenes make the most of the basic one-note characters.
Not a grand masterpiece, but very competent, and worth looking at and smiling at
It's a nice small puzzle game, you can control Love and Hate to push "others" away or draw them back and get to the red button, that's the story. There are 80 levels, 4 worlds and first 10 levels are kinda like tutorial and the puzzles get harder after that. Its technically a mobile port so u have to click on the spot to move characters or do things yet it is a good time killer.
buy it on sales only
Very good reflexion game, a little easy at the beginning but hard at the end !
Good game for good price (I got -75%) :)
Cute, endearing and cool little puzzles that get harder as you play through. Novel aspects are introduced at just the right pace so it stays interesting and fresh. I really like the characters and how their personalities support the gameplay.
One of those fun puzzle games, reminiscent of Lemmings from the early 90's. Majority of levels are are none too difficult, but the last 10 or so are thinkers.
It's fun! It's cute! It's COMPLICATED! And it's DRIVING ME CRAZY! It's a great game, with simple mechanics and mounting challenge.
This is lovely !! I play it on no sound mode as I don't want my subconscious to embed "I hate you!" into it because I hear it a lot as it is into the game mechanic. I will binge this game !! I wish there were achievements.
This is another puzzle game with its own gimmick. Not really my thing, but i can see anyone who likes a new gimmick getting into this
It's a pretty good game with fun puzzles and the gameplay mechanics (if that's what they can be called??) are interesting and a fun idea. I don't know if there is much more to say than that.
A cute game.
Though, I had two issues.
1. Difficulty seemed to be random. In general, as the game progressed, it got more difficult, but some level 70s felt like level 10s and vice versa.
2. I encountered a bug where one (or both) of my characters were stuck inside of pieces. Which made level 78 (i think. whichever had the small box with many robots and mr. hat man) unplayable till it fixed at random.
To say that it's worth the money wouldn't be saying much, but I don't have much to say anyway.
It's a puzzle platformer. It isn't long nor complex. It is rather simplistic. It does few things, but does them right.
As the result 6 years after release it is still a fun puzzle platformer.
Good puzzles. 80 levels, so it doesn't over stay its welcome. Love and Hate are wonderful characters for only saying one line each. Game is also pleasant to look at.
adorable little puzzle game
my kids play this on a 27' touch screen via steam, and the mouse control is prefect too...
you can roll back step by step and each level is like less than 5 mins
difficulty is pretty low, good for a little relax
Good game, reminds me of Head over Heels on Commodore 64. Engaging, well drawn, characters say so much with expression. Am enjoying it very much.
Note: I played with the sound off, the voices sounded annoying. Worth it on sale, but the full price is high for a game that was cheap on mobile version. The first 3/4 is casual, the last 1/4 is medium to hard but not unfairly hard. There is an undo button and all the mechanics are straightforward and consistent. Cute graphics with a soft, painted look. If you only like casual puzzles or only like hard puzzles, you might not like the difficulty jump at the end or find the earlier part boring. I liked the whole game. The early part was relaxing and the last part was challenging but never too frustrating.
First thing I noticed is how cute the characters are, I absolutely love their contrasting voice, i laughed when i heard them do the "i love you" & "i hate you" commands.
The game is very easy to understand and the puzzles are very nicely made, no bugs no anything.
Simple, cute and well thought.
~ i must admit i had to search for a little help for the last puzzle but i think if you take the time and you want to relax with a point and click easy puzzle, this is the one ;)
Very basic puzzle game, I found sections very difficult even after just 30 minutes of play. The difficulty spike ruined the game for me.
Nice and relaxing at first, nerve wreaking on the last levels trying to figure out what needs to be done. The characters are funny to hear and see.
I've only played the tutorial so far, but I'll be back for more, I don't need to play more than that to give my opinion on this one.
It's a fairly basic and straight forward puzzle game with catchy music and a somewhat unique premise. Basically, it was Helltaker long before Helltaker...
(don't take that the wrong way, it's not at all like Helltaker in any other way but what I said before)
Its an okay puzzle game and I find the characters within the game pretty cute. I will say the puzzles within the game may take some time to accomplish and there is the possibility of being stuck for a bit, so that may discourage some individuals. However, this game is pretty decent and i recommend a play if given the opportunity.
P.S. I also recommend obtaining the game when its discounted, because I believe I got my copy for about $3 at most.
Pretty complicated puzzle game where you can complete levels with Hate (or Love if you're into that).
About Love, Hate, and the other ones is a puzzle game where you both really love and really hate getting to red buttons. Difficulty is medium hard with a few hard levels in there. Took me 7.4 hours to beat it using a mouse, but expect it to take you longer and for you to get stumped royally.
Gameplay - You click on your two respective characters to change them, you click on other denizens of the 2d world to shout whether you love or hate them (Hating them drives them away, and Loving them draw them closer), and you click where you want each character to go. Didn't have any problems with all the mouse clicking. There's also an undo button on the screen that you'll certainly wear out.
Strategy - Each puzzle requires a certain amount or trial and error strategy. Some you breeze through. Others you'll get one step away after long plans to find you screwed up somewhere and curse up a storm.
Levels - There are 80 levels total on three different areas of the map. Every once in a while something new is introduced to the screen that reacts to your love and hate differently.
Voices/Sounds - This is where the game grated on my nerves. I could ignore the constant dorky "I love you"s and hissing, "I hate you"s, but that churning monotonous wind sound a specific item/enemy made never-endingly dug under my skin ugly sorts of fierce, especially with the later levels. I halfway wanted to hate them off a ledge so I didn't have to listen to them anymore. In the end I got by through turning the volume off.
Menu - The game autosaves every level and will continue where you left off from the menu. It can be accessed in the levels, where you're given an option to reset the level, resume the level, or quit. When you beat a level you can go back and redo it whenever you want on a 'level select' area. There's also a credits icon and a 'how to play' icon in the lower right and an options area to set full screen and resolution.
Graphics and Music- The graphics are super dorky simple with polish, as is the music with its thrumming tuba sounds. Both lend to a childish fun little puzzle game very well.
Cutscenes - There are three major cutscenes in the game where Love and Hate do their antics and cause trouble to string along some sort of plot (?) and give you a laugh in between heaps of puzzles. They felt weirdly lacking and didn't really offer anything. Why react to one enemy when they could react to them all? I don't know why the middle one was there.
Achievements - There are no achievements with this game.
In summary - About Love, Hate, and the other ones is a cute puzzle game that'll put you through your paces and keep you busy for a while. If you like puzzle games there's an experience to be had here. But don't expect your mind to be blown. It's pretty average in terms of puzzle games. I liked the concept.
Well made and enjoyable puzzle game. Has a nice variety to the levels and the world theme changes at occasions (4 themes in total), which adds more variation the environment.
A game where you emotionally manipulate sad, fat little blobs into doing your bidding. Kind of like being an e-thot I guess? But yea this is pretty boring, and the art is pretty meh, and the music is extremely meh. Don't think it's worth the £4.99 being asked at time of writing.
You're 2 balls one's aggressive and the other isn't and you have to go through puzzles by being aggressive and not being aggressive towards other balls to continue passing puzzles. There isn't a story. There's isn't replay value. It didn't even have 1 playthrough worth of gameplay for me.
If you're tired of mobile games with ads, just get this game, it's a mobile game with no ads pretty much.
I've played this a few times, most recently up to about level 30 or so; when they start introducing new characters. A very inventive game to say the least, it remained fun and challenging even on subsequent play throughs.
I think this is a really cute game about two clearly opposite blobs trying to work together to get back home. It really helps bring together the point that despite their differences, they can still work together, and I think it also teaches a valuable lesson on how people react to how they are treated. Hate despises everyone and tells them so, so everyone moves away from them. Love however treats everyone well and gives them all affection, so that draws them towards Love. It's a great way of solving puzzles using just this. Can get a little frustrating after a while, but it definitely has its charms.
At first glance it looks like it might be a platformer with running and jumping but it's not. It's really a straight up puzzle game. You can move at the pace you want so you can stop and think. It has and undo move button so if you realize you made a bad move you can back up as many steps as you want. The goal is to get one of the two main characters, Love and Hate, to push a button. You move them with mouse click and they will go up one step automatically. They move other npc by talking to them. The game periodically adds new npc with different abilities. At the beginning the levels only take a few minutes and each time they introduce a new type of characters there's a few easy levels to learn on. Later levels can be more like ten minutes with an occasional one you have to work at longer. You can't skip levels, so you can get stuck on one a while. If you like puzzle games like Incredible Machine (yes I'm old) then you'll like this. No fighting, no dying, no acrobatics.
Great puzzle game.
The levels are well designed from easy to hard.
Game is not too long, but not too short either (80 levels).
Characters are introduced one at a time (push, pull, inflate, float, teleport, stuck, eat etc.) and let the player get used to their attributes and learn how to interact with them to complete the levels.
Later stages require interaction with many of these characters at the same time, which creates a very interesting gameplay.
Highly recommended for those who like puzzle games.
I'm definitely Recommending "About Love, Hate and the other ones." It's a nice, fun little puzzle game that's very well done and has no time pressure. The developer uses the first several levels as a tutorial to teach us how to use each ability as it's introduced and then gives us the mainstream levels. Levels 1 through 60 are quite enjoyable and straightforward. As I went through those, I felt really good (like I had gotten better at puzzle games and possibly wasn't a total idiot). But, then Levels 61 through 80 showed up and things got a bit more difficult (and I realized my parenthetical statement, above, wasn't necessarily correct). But, still, it's a very good, very approachable game.
I've only got a couple of issues with the game. First, on my 3440x1440 monitor, the top and bottom of the screens were cut off. I had to make sure I chose a 16:9 screen resolution in the Settings (2560x1440 was the closest to full resolution that worked) to be able to see everything. Everything still looked fine that way. But, unfortunately, no matter what I did, the resolution reset each time I started the game. So, I had to change resolution each time. Second, and I think this is why I had issues with the later levels, the proper use of the purple-hatted guys near the end never became clear to me. That might be my fault or maybe that mechanic needs better explaining. I don't know. And, finally, Achievement would be nice.
Anyway, those are my only issues with the game. I got 9.4 hours out of it at a 2021 Winter Sale price of $0.69 (I got it as part of a bundle with "Tiny and Big: Grandpa's Leftovers"). But, even at its individual list price of $6.99, it's worth it. So, I'm definitely Recommending it.
Good: Cute gfx and sound. Nice puzzle mechanics with a variety of characters. Reasonable (for a puzzle) gameplay duration.
Bad: First three stages were very (very!) easy. In the last stage, difficulty spiked abnormally for a few levels, then again very easy ones. I hoped the difficulty level increased more smoothly.
Verdict: 7/10. Joyful puzzle game, definitely recommended. But does not have much replay value.
cute animation with some difficult puzzles, check out the other animation shorts on the Black Pants Game Studio youtube channel
I love you, I hate you
Normally we would say, "Hey, it's a cute game!" or say, "Hey, this game has a fun mechanism!". But for About Love, Hate and the other ones we can actually say, "Hey, this game has a cute mechanism!". Yuppy, a cute and unique mechanism along with the cute graphic design, which makes this puzzle solving game unique and lovable. Yeah, one can say it's sokoban with a gravity system, but still, it's the one who came up with the concept to draw in players that counts as a winner here. :3
The puzzles are brain teasing and logically solvable, so all we need is a little thinking time. The satisfaction on solving the harder ones are great too! So it's definitely a must have collection for any puzzle lover!
LOVE LOST, LOVE FOUND ON CRAIGSLIST
The ad for the 14k white gold engagement ring in “like-new condition” included a caveat: It was worn “by Satan herself.” The ad then warned, “Ring may be cursed, as it tends to leave a path of destruction behind it. Possible events associated with this ring include but are not limited to: damage sustained to house, vehicle, heart, downed power lines, fallen trees, and swarms of locusts.” The upside: “Other than that, a very nice piece of jewelry.” • This man’s ad addressed someone he’d met only fleetingly: “Hi. I am the guy whose house you tried breaking in to this morning around 9:30 a.m. on Gale Street,” he wrote. “Our conversation was short. You only said, ‘Oh my gosh, oh my gosh ...,’ as you saw me staring back at you through the door blinds. Still,” he continued, “I feel we made a good connection, separated only by the door and the two locks you were trying to pick. Please don’t break into my house again. But if you’re up for a legal encounter, I’m game.”
I like the minimalist graphics, it just proves again that a game doesn't have to be, the biggest game of the year to be fun, this is a very challenging game but leaves you feeling one more round.
