If on PC and do not have a controller or maybe a joystick, this may be awkward to play - play AV Origins (3rd person, over the shoulder) instead as it is very similar (some puzzles are different and the order of some chapters are different) but easier to play with a keyboard/mouse.

Both games are good. Some of the voice acting and humor could be better.

Well, I don't really feel like finishing this game, mostly because the puzzles and story were a bit too simple for my taste, but I genuinely think this would be a pretty fun game for kids (in a good way). I liked exploring the environment, but in the end I just think this isn't quite my cup of tea. Still happily recommend it though.

[initial impressions] Not done yet, but just wanted to write in, because I'm loving it so far.
At first I thought the characters were funny in a "oh look how wonky their acting is" kind of way, but actually it turned out to be more of a genuine "ah man, this is great!" kind of way. All in all, I'm loving the vibe, and the humour is quite welcome to me. I feel like I'm actually discovering ancient stuff!, it's great!

Pretty cool puzzle/maze style game.

There are a lot of mazes, problems and puzzles that you need to solve throughout the game to let the story come to an end, some of them are quite tricky and seem to have little logic and some are pretty straight forward. Mostly trial and error but they are fun and its a good game that i would play more of if the series was/is continued. Enjoyed the game

Lately it was decided to (finally) combine the 3 episodes of Adam's Venture to this very title, and that happened exactly when I was in the middle of playing episode 3. So, despite the short playtime - I did complete this game, and even reviewed the first two episodes (and those two probably just faded away). I'll take it as a chance to review the entire game and not each episode seperately.

While I don't find the game amazing, it does get better as you progress, and eventually it's an alright "action"-adventure game. It is rather casual, though, in almost every aspect. If that's your cup of tea then you might want to give it a chance.

Adam's Venture is supposedly an action-adventure game which seems like a childish version of games like Tomb Raider or Uncharted, definitely not as good, and seems a little like a 'wannabe'.

On the technical aspects the game swings from decent to nice quality. Again, nothing special or memorable unfortunately. It seemed to me like the graphics got better optimized in the third chapter somehow, as it ran smoothly on my machine with highest settings while the first one was faltering on medium, and my machine definitely has the recommended system requirements (this game does get old..)

The story is a cliche but actually a nice one. As I said, it's all very casual and so there's nothing too bombastic or complex. Acting is decent but not a major part of this game.

Gameplay is fairly simple, rather linear with numerous puzzles along the way, which start out ridicolously easy but on the third chapter become somewhat more challanging (and at times obscure and unclear).

When I reviewed the first and second episode I've written that this game is good for children, but somehow on the third episode the difficulty significantly rises and therefore I'm not too sure about that anymore.

Anyway, as I said, the game does get better from episode to episode, and for that reason alone I find it a little hard to review all the 3 episodes.
While the 1st one didn't leave such a good impression on me, the 3rd actually made me like this game much more.

Adam's Venture isn't terrific, but it's an OK piece of adventure. The rather boring first episode evolves and becomes mroe fun and bearable in the second and third ones.
It took me about 2-3 hours to complete each episdoes, which gives you in a whole a 6-9 hours experience for 20$, depending on your gameplay style.

That's a little steep for this game, and I'd say - get it on a sale like I did. If you're a die-hard fan of adventure games you'll enjoy it.
As a parent you could play it with your kid perhaps, and that might also be nice.

Really, that's a fine game. A little meehh but worth a try. I might even play it again one day.

Adam's Venture is a really interesting game for those interested in history or just curious about the Bible. The game is easy indeed, logical obstacles can be overcome just in a few minutes of thinking, so difficulty is not the point in this game. For me, how I see it, Adam's Venture is a educational way of modern game-teaching of the bible stories and in this aspect the game achieved its goal.

About story - Adam is a 1920's Indiana Jones in a nutshell.

Over average.
6/10

(Don't look at the play time, I had finished all three parts before it was turned into chronicles)

It's not bad game, but simple. You don't spend with it much time, however it's still nice to play Adam's Venture. And I get this one for free beacuse i early bought all 3 episides, so i approve it! :)

The game still has the same bugs before the name change. The run/jumping onto boxes/cliffs is still bugged. You can do it but takes more than one try. Do not be fooled by the all in one game and name change. The save system is good though. The game is fun for it's humor and that's about it. It's really not worth 20 dollars. Wait for a steam sale where you can get chronicles for 5 dollars or less. Changing the name is just a money grab.

If you played the episodes separately when they were still available, there isn't really any difference between them and Chronicles apart some puzzles being graphically enhanced.

However, for those who never had the chance to play it before, here's what I think of Adam's Venture: Chronicles.

Adam Venture is a young man, a bit sexist (you have to understand that we're in the '20, meaning that in our modern society, some of us will be offended by that characteristic), having found the key to the Garden of Eden. Trying to impress his father's assistant, Evelyn Appleby, he doesn't know that he will live a real adventure, even making him reminiscing the two years earlier.

The main goal of the first chapters is to discover some tales from the Bible, after that, it's more centered on the fun and gameplay than the Bible. The story is a good little one, if only there wasn't a problem in the chronology: it seems that Adam discovered the location of the garden the same year he's stuck in, yet, the flashback shows that it was three years earlier.

Besides, the fact that Adam is a bit sexist: you can see that Evelyn is more mature than Adam. But I don't know if this side of him is his way to show that he cares a lot about her or if he's really like that. Also, Adam is the comical relief of the game: he's thinking that he's the best but in a theatrical manner.

The gameplay is simple as it's an adventure game: you solve puzzles mainly. They're not hard but also not so easy. I can't really say it's flawed but when you have weird camera angles, your job is harder than before.

The graphics would be called outdated in our world, yet, I love them. I largely prefer the atmosphere in the Eden story, more mysterious. But the others chapters are also very good - I liked less the flashback in France.

The soundtrack is also fitting to the game and the voice acting isn't as bad as you could expect. Maybe the Clairvaux chief is perhaps a little too much in his arrogance but it can still pass.

20 bucks is probably too much for the collection, as the episodes were known to often be in weekly sales at 1,24 euros. So, if I was you, I would wait for a good discount.

But I've enjoyed Adam Venture a lot so, I can only recommend it... if you can get past Adam's little sexist side.

DISCLAIMER: I played the three episodes before Chronicles. If you wish you can read the original mixed reviews of each of them at E1, E2 and E3.

TL;DR: Archeology-themed puzzle adventure game provides fun and challenging mental puzzles for several hours with a moderate story and annoying main character.

The new owners of the Adam's Venture IP are swell people: they provided Chronicles to everyone who owns the original three games. It's a good thing: there's very little difference to the originals aside from requiring to play it in order. Is it a good game though? Let's find out.

You are put into the overconfident boots of Adam Venture, an archeologist whose personality will likely both annoy the hell out of you and keep the story light-toned as he can at least be ridiculous in fun ways.

Story begins as Adam and pals have supposedly found the lost location of the Garden of Eden. Flying there with the plane provided by the generous Clairvoux Corporation, you get trapped inside the maze of caves and have to solve logic puzzles and biblical phrase puzzles to proceed.

Yup, it's one of those Christian Games. Despite that, only the theme and ancient places are religious - the characters and the story are not and religion is not shoved down your throat. That said, knowing something about biblical stories might make the story more enjoyable because of the references. Text puzzles appear only in the first third (Garden of Eden) of the game though, and you can always guess the correct order of the phrases.

Most of the puzzles are different logic puzzles. There is mixing dynamite, solving labyrinths and elaborate locks. There is fixing machines, lockpicking and wiring electronics. Puzzles are very varied and they get more challenging along the way, which is great. The puzzles in the end can be seriously challenging - I used a couple of hours to solve one (number lock puzzle) in my original playthrough, needlessly devising multilinear equations for what turned out to be a relatively simple puzzle once I saw its logic.

I think only one puzzle (music puzzle in Garden of Eden) was illogical to me and that might be due to myself not knowing certain myth from the Bible. This was probably the only part where that might be kind of required, unless I simply missed a vital clue. I had to bruteforce it by trying every combination. In other parts the puzzles could be solved by thinking or simply trying enough combinations, iterating towards the right answer. Some knowledge of simple math and skills of pattern recognition make it easier and probably also more enjoyable.

From the trailer it looks like a 3D action adventure but fortunately it isn't one, because the shadow effects are weak. This remains an issue in Chronicles as it was in the Episodes. While it looks fine enough, the environment does not react correctly to the dynamic lightning like torches. This manifests so that Adam and all the characters cast dynamic shadows but the environmental objects like stones or stalagmites do not even though light illuminates them correctly. Specifically, Adam's shadow might be hanging on the ceiling like in mid-air, because the stone he's standing on does not cast a shadow.

This is fortunately a minor issue but it makes it difficult to find some secret areas and in the (thankfully few) platforming and swinging blades sections it's difficult to see the direction where you are supposed to jump towards or assess the blade's path. Also fortunately dying just respawns you back at the same section, so at least you lose nothing because of the death. Only if Evelyn is with you do you need to hear her scolding voice saying "Adam!" in that particular way that's akin to "Stop dying fooling around!".

Like said, Adam is an annoying guy. He boasts that he's awesome and he sure does have a knack for alternative solutions (like a true adventure game character should). Evelyn, his companion character, shows that she has much more common sense and the contrast is actually pretty funny. Nevertheless, Adam belittles her all the time like a tool he is while at the same time hitting on her. I found this very annoying but satisfyingly enough he gets called for it.

Adam and Eve(lyn) is of course a play on the story of Genesis and it's used in the Garden of Eden as a joke. Myself, I found Garden of Eden (the first episode of the series) to be the weakest part of the game. After that it gets much more interesting as the deviousness of the Clairvoux Corporation begins to unfold.

My original playthrough of the Episodes lasted 10 hours altogether (it took only 6 hours for this replay). Of course, now there's an option to play any sub-chapter again after you have played it through to go for those elusive achievements. Controller support has been improved, though sometimes the pad buttons appear on the HUD instead of the keyboard keys.

It's a decent adventure game with some good, challenging puzzles and an okay story. The differences to the original Episodes are very small so if you've played them already, you can only play this for a rerun or the achievements. For the rest of you I can't recommend it for the full price but at 50% or 75% discount it's good enough a tale.

I've rated up all the (deleted) single episodes up, but this is a mess, cause the (auto)save just works for the time you're ingame - when you finish the game + want to continue later on, you can't load your last autosave - even when you try to select the last chapter you played, it isn't working!
Thumbs down!

Adam's venture is a good game for those who want are curious about the Bible, this game isn't too bad in gameplay and most of the puzzles aren't too difficult. This game isn't worth the full price though, it's better if you wait for a sale as this game is pretty short, you could probably just finish it in a single sitting if you tried hard enough.

Also if you don't care about the Bible, and only care about achievements, this is probably the easiest(and probably fastest) 45 achievements you can get on Steam. A majority of them are story related and the rest is for interactng with random stuff enough times.

This is a bit like the old Tomb Raider, with less action and better puzzles. The puzzles themselves, for the most part, are quite easy once you understand what you have to do. That said, the ones in the last chapter, took me much longer and I didn't enjoy it as much.

Spectre

It's rare you find a game series that honors God and has decent graphics to boot! Lots of puzzles that require logic, mathematics, and deductive reasoning. Hard to find because many companies feel that gratuitous violence, filth, and sexual innuendo is the only way to make a buck.

What is even better? The company will soon be releasing another installment called Adam Venture: Origins- YAY!

This is the first game in my library I'm not recommending. The controls are really irritating and the only reason it shows as hours more gameplay than I've actually done is because you can't save and exit. So I had to leave the game running a few times, I'm an acheivement hunter so though I still intend to finish, I would never recommend this to anyone.

I didn`t like this game because of the lame dialogue, dry humorless humor, and the strange glitchy mechanics. I found it boring and was also very disappointed with the creators for repeating the same exact puzzle, setting, and sequence three times in a row. Adam (the male protagonist) rides a mining car down a tunnel, enters a cavern, completes a giant maze, and solves a pzzle when he has to deactive a bomb three times in a row with no variations to the room or setting in anyway. Sure the way through the maze and solution to the bomb puzzle are different but it is the idetical maze and room. This was a lazy move made by the creators. Adam's constant belitteling of Evelyn (female protagonist) was incredibly anti-feminist, humorless, and made it even more painful to listen to the poorly written dialogue (there were instances where Everlyn repeated dialogue from past scenes).

This is the first game in my library I'm not recommending. The controls are really irritating and part way through the game I could not get through a door fast enough so I was stuck there for hours. Finnally just gave up and deleted the game.

As has been noted by everyone else, the three Adam Venture games which was at one time sold individually have been grouped together to produce one long game named Adam Venture Chronicles (2015) created by a Dutch company which can be found here http://vertigo-games.com/company/

It claims to be an online adventure similar to Allan Quatermaine and Indiana Jones and it does have that type of feel about it all. It was also created to be suitable for Christians and young children as it contains little to no violence or bloodshed in the entire adventure series. However let’s still look at each individually.

Chapter 1: The Search for the Lost Garden (2009 released)

The graphics in this particular instalment are quite cheesy. Granted the backdrops are often vibrant with countless eye catching sparkle and glimmering spectres everywhere your main character travels. Seriously diamonds, crystals and glitter fill the caverns like as if some sort of Mardigras parade had been through the whole cave system moments before you got there. Yet it still never takes the focus off the question why your character Adam Venture is wearing MC hammers pants? Couple this with the fact that when the game starts there is a lizard which seems to do a river dance in suspended air for some reason and you’re really waiting for the moment when the bass kicks in and that immortalised sentence ‘you can’t touch this’ and everyone starts to doing the signature hammer dance. Alas it never happens. But the game is so corny it could have and it would have gotten away with it. Trust me.

This part of the game will take you about 2 hrs - 4 hrs if you want all achievements. With the exception of the first puzzle, the rest aren’t that difficult. Half the puzzles are simply scripture columns which have been broken up into three parts and need to be placed in the correct order. However other puzzles and their requirements are more obscure when you first come across them and like me you’ll probably just start randomly clicking as you know there is a limited amount of combinations it could be.

Story is that you have discovered the location of the Garden of Eden. The big problem is, that many game developers who choose to do a religious themed game, because let’s face it, the target audience is huge, often these people have no idea what so ever, what they are in fact talking about and often just make a fool of themselves and their product to those that do.

Are you ready for this? The Garden of Eden is still around and so is the snake! In fact it wasn't really a snake to begin with, but more the smoke monster from the TV series 'Lost' and apparently the smoke monster was doing God's work all along and stopping people from getting to the 'Tree of Life' ?.... Completely lost me there... (Actually Gen 3:24 says that God posted a number of Cherubs and a flaming sword to protect the trees, not a smoke monster.)

But the biggest downer for me personally is that you never get there. You never do see the Garden of Eden. Which is a complete bummer. This disappointment could have been rectified if the bass kicked in at this moment and the snake started singing ‘you can’t touch this’ and all the archaeologists dropped their differences and started doing the running man dance as the caves came down. Golden opportunity lost forever…

Chapter 2: Solomon’s Secret (2011)

In this instalment (which will take you about 5 hrs) the developers seem to have zero care for actual history and take just as many liberties as the Star trek franchise does with science.

For those that don't know, King Solomon was a real king. In fact not only the richest king at the time, but is still the richest man who has even ever lived. In today's terms he was earning somewhere around 250 million a year. Just imagine all the Steam games you could get with that!

Anyway there has always been thoughts that there might be some hidden riches waiting to be unearthed in a hidden temple somewhere and here is what the games main story premise plays on. An evil corporation is digging up the temple mount. Oh dearie me who will save us all from dire calamity. Steps up to the plate Mr MC Hammer Pants/ Adam Venture.

This particular chapter of the game surprised me for two reasons.

1) I did not think this was possible, but they somehow have worked out how to make every back drop even more vibrant and blinding than the first episode. Seriously you nearly have to wear sunscreen just to play certain scenes outside.

2) The developers who must have learnt there history from a pop-up book, somehow made a even bigger blunder than the previous episode. Are you ready for this one???

King Solomon spends vast millions upon millions creating booby traps and puzzles that will do your head in, to hide not treasure, but to hide his writings. Because apparently to Solomon his wisdom was greater than his treasures. What’s wrong with this premise? Have you ever heard of the book of Ecclesiastes? No booby traps needed to read that book. Jeez.

Chapter 3: Revelations (2012)

First, this instalment has nothing to do with the book of Revelations in the Bible. Instead the title is in regards to the character discovery that a gamer will get to experience as he plays what begins as a prequel. The title also further hints to a secret agenda the evil Clairvaux Corporation has which gets revealed at the end of the game.

After the first two instalments of this game I was kind of expecting that I would go blind with this one by all the bright colours that would be radiating from my screens monitor. Kind of disappointed they toned it down a little and I won’t need that expensive eye laser surgery after all.

I also expected them to make a bigger blunder in this episode than what they made in the previous two. Something absurd like the four horsemen of the apocalypse would turn out to be a merry go round at Chernobyl or something like that, but as stated before this has nothing to do with the book of Revelation and what information they do subject us with is at least plausible.

It seems that those at Vertigo have improved over the years, and time and time again have reacted to feed back by looking at how they can make things better. I agree with a friend of mine and will be forever interested where they will send us next. Noah’s Ark? The disappearance of the Assyrian Army? The graves of the Nephilim? I’ll have to wait and see.

A final comment I would like to make is that I personally had some issues with one of the instalments thanks to a graphics card issue, but those at Vertigo were very quick and efficient in sorting out the issue. In an ever growing market where technical support is nearly extinct, I find that good customer service is just as golden to me as any game with top notch graphics and sound. Vertigo= Great customer service and for that I applaud you the most.

Play all the Tomb Raider games first.

+ A mix between Tomb Raider (games play) and the Broken Sword series (tone and puzzle design), but not as well executed
- Main protagonist is a douche bag
- Really short
- Puzzles mostly solve themselves
- Main protagonist has distractingly stupid name

There is a pretty heavy Christian thing going on here, so you might get more out of it if you're into that sort of thing.

There is also this strange narative decision where it feels like the thing that they're after in act 1 is way more impressive and interesting than anything they chase later on, but there isn't really enough positives within the narative for this to take away from it.

The game doesn't have much of a story, it is mostly running you around through some tunnels and solving some simple puzzles. It seems that the games main goal is to let youget some understanding of the bible. Every part of the game has a religious tone.

Fanjita

This game isn't terrible, but there is nothing very good about it either.

I played this up to the end of the first section and after closing it have no drive to open it back up and complete it.

A few positives about the game though:
- The scenery is nice.
- The voice acting is good.

The negatives however:
- Clunky controls, it's very hard to jump some places as if you are next to a wall you will go backwards. You have to constantly hold down a button to run, while not terrible you might as well just have an auto run option.
- Story is lacking. From what I've played so far there wasn't much of a story other than bible pieces from the old testament and an evil corporation. The character names are very blatant too (Adam and Eve).
- The humour is humourless, I guess this game is aimed at children but I'm not sure.
- Gameplay is linear and puzzles are very easy.

Might be a good game for someone under 10 and if it was on sale I'd recommend it for that. But for everything else I would say don't bother and find a better game.

Even though it's a bit crude in it's gameplay (interaction through keypad only and graphics not upto current standards) and is a bit buggy now and then (sound stalling, triggers sometimes not working properly - but easily fixed by exiting and resuming the current checkpoint) this is a nice old fashioned adventure game, if you can buy it with a big discount.

This series is the epitome of "So bad it's good." With decent graphics, weird puzzles, a quirky storyline, and barely passable voice acting, it's a feast for the senses, providing enough calcium for an army in its pure cheesiness. And when I say that, I genuinely did enjoy it and recommend it - the dialogue is entertaining, and the characters likable. The stories flow together decently and the ending is pretty good. The biggest thing that would have helped the game is if Adam had beaten the crap out of people and choked some fools, but sadly such does not occur, though it begs for it. A must-have if you enjoy cheesiness and a fun, good-message storyline - two things everyone should appreciate. It's often on sale for a killer price, so I'm sure you won't regret adding it to your collection. Two thumbs up! Just keep YouTube walkthroughs handy if you can be lazy with puzzles like me. :-)

TL;DR: Got it on sale, still refunding.

Disappointing bundle containing the first three Adam's Venture games. Games aren't sold separately, anymore, conventiently erasing the reviews for them as well.

First episode has a playtime of an hour, and is basically a walking simulator. Puzzles are either "light thing with torch", "count to X in roman numerals", or "copy this pattern". It was shaken up with the diabolical "light thing, then run through gate fast", or "light 4 torches in quick succession". In nearly all cases, even the minimal thought required for the puzzles still takes longer than simply systematically trying all solutions. Episode 2 does not show much improvement, so I'm refunding while still possible.

Abundant in the first episode are the 'riddle poles', where you have to order three sentence fragments, one of which has a dot. Most egregious is the musical puzzle shown at 33 seconds in the trailer. Put instrument on air hole, listen if sound is okay, place on other air hole if not. Repeat. The answer is literally bruteforcing.

Same with episode 2's lockpicking. I've had two of them so far, so I assume this is a recurring puzzle as well. There are four pins, which all need to be pressed, but in a certain order, which you don't know. Pressing pin 1 will eject pins 2,3 and 4, while pin 4 ejects nothing. You can figure out which pin is which, but just keep pressing pins from left to right, you will need at most 10 presses. Literally. Like, math.

The episodes were released in 2009, 2011, 2012. This does not excuse the terribad graphics. Gamecube Resident Evil looked better, and that´s 2003. The graphics are simply because the first episode was made with a team of three, in six months. Not much time for modeling your first game if you don´t know if it will start a franchise, I get it.
But update it when you make a bundle edition. This is just painful to watch. They made a new game in April, just lift the models from that one. At least fix spelling errors. Seperate.

The voice acting is abysmal. Think Inspector Gadget saying "wowzers". Now imagine everything being said in this half-cheery monotonous voice, whether it's a 'humorous' quip or "do X or I will shoot you".

The secrets found ingame give you codes, get them all and fill them on their website for concept art and backgrounds. But it does this by simply hyperlinking you to a different numbered page. Just go through their sitemap by incrementing this number to "unlock the secrets" as well.

Dr NIco

Just started to play this story recently, and I find the game pleasant. Clearly, it reminds me of the first tomb raider episode, Adam has taken over Lara for the search duty, but no attacks by wild animals or momies, and no gunnery. Here, focus is on discovering your path, and solving short enigms. You are assisted at the beginning to proceed and use your keyboard. Little dialog scenes alternate with gameplay scenes and puzzles, finally a good balance that keeps you away from getting bored.
Worth a try, especially when the game is sold for about a single buck.

I would recommend...
...to casual adventure gamers, young and old, who are interested in exploring and solving puzzles.

Quanitiative Score = 6 out of 10.

I give it a thumbs up only because it is relatively inexpensive, espcially if you can get it on sale for under $10.

Positive...
...Fun and interesting adventure story.
...Fairly good graphics with vivid colours.
...Interesting puzzles which are challenging.
...Good theme and presentation suitable for young players.
...The 3rd person viewpoint is acceptable and gives you a better sense of situational awareness.

Negative...
...A few stability issues hich can occasionaly hang-up the game or force you out of the game to the desktop ere an issue at first.
...The graphics are good, but could still use an improvement tweak.
...The 3rd persons view perspective is OK, but distracts for the adventure and suspense of not knowing what is around the corner.
...The controls are terrible, bordering on garbage. There is no mouse control at all. The whole game is controlled from a handful of keyboard commands. This may make it easy to learn, but it seriously detracts from the games aesthetic and experience, when the character is jerking around on the screen and moving in an unatural manner.

Anyway, Fairly well executed game with poor control design, but an interesting theme. At less than $10, its a deal.

Real

Adam Venture is a kind of cheap Indiana Jones, these chronicles are 3 episodes in which he seeks the book of Genesis with his lover/mate Evelyn through caves, Jerusalem, temple of Salomon, Illuminatis village, etc. The game is only puzzle/adventure, there's no real action in it. While the puzzles of the 2 first episodes are too easy, some of the last episode are rather difficult. One bad point is that the characters are terrifyingly ugly, but they have some charism thanks to the dialogs. Also the graphics of the environment look great with the Unreal Engine, even if they are a bit outdated now. There's a good longetivity also, it took me 10h to go through the game and replay some parts to get the 100% achievments. 6.5/10

Uninstalling after 30 minutes, because:
- I can take either dumb or unlikable heroes, not both.
- Extremely simplistic game and gameplay. I was pretty good at math, so puzzles are a bore. Minus extra points for 3-piece phrases you have to put in order, and one piece has a full stop.
- You can't walk where you are not supposed to. All those cliffs, I want to fall and die once, dammit!
- My controller won't stop vibrating. No way to turn this off.

My Final Score: 5/10

At the price of $15, it is not worth the spend. Its an Indiana Jones type game with quirky puzzles set in the 1920's. If you can find it on sale, you might enjoy a few hours in this one... if not, don't waist your money on it.

I bought it, when it's on sale. It's not a perfect game. There's some bugs. Like half of the 1st episode my game crashed cause of alt+tab and i have to play at the start. That was really bad experience for me. But i can still say you should buy this game but i suggest you to buy when it's on sale. Puzzles are great, some of them easy, some of them hard. Story is fine. It's kinda funny actually. I really enjoyed it. If you love puzzle games and looking for some snacks then you should play this game.

Attention: Do not alt+tab. It may be cost your time.

PS: But shift+tab is fine, at least for me.

Adam's Venture Chronicles is a fun little adventure. The scenery is fantastic and the atmosphere great. The puzzles vary from ridiculously easy to very hard, but all in all extremely logical. The story is divided in 2½ parts (Eden, Temple of Solomon and Oxford/Luz), which manages to give a full picture. The camera follows the player beautifully, but unfortunately the path you follow is pretty predetermined with minimal, if any, opportunities for deviation. Which is a shame actually, because the world building is so charming and fitting, that it'd be nice to explore a bit more. Then again, according to the developers' site, the 1st chapter was completed by just 3 people, so this is actually a pretty good end product!

Sexist unfunny main charactor and soooo.... Boring!

Mistabullit
Mistabullit

I reviewed the individual parts of this when they were originally released. This just adds cards and stuff. There is a sequel prequel that I may check out again later.

It's a very forgiving, and easy adventure title.

Fingers crossed this developer cracks out a decent VR adventure title to go with the other VR titles they have released thus far.

Fera-Ferrito
Fera-Ferrito

Adam's Venture Chronicles

Is an adventure, Puzzle game; less dramatic than Indiana-Jones & Tomb Raider.

You play as Adam Venture - Shh, it's a secret, but I think it's derived from the word ADVENTURE
A smarty-pants, male chauvinist and just as brave as he's stupid.
It almost can't be better; except that every hero needs a sidekick - Applause to the lovely and charming Evelyn, who's as intelligent as good looking. Except that she's fallen in love with a man who ignore her and calls her stupid - Chaptor III

Thumbs Ups

The puzzles vary from easy to difficult, but are all in all enjoyable. They're all rather logic, so you can figure them out on your own eventualy.

The story is good for a game focusing on puzzles instead of "action".
However the first part is mostly like a tutorial, incorporated while exploring the first escavation site.

The graphic is decent - Can appear flat and ugly at times, but it's nice most of the time; with a lot of work applied on the shadows, light and everything that sets the mood.
The characters are often the most graphicaly-ugly you'll see

Thumbs Down

It is a quite short game actually, even with the 3 chapters combined.
So you might want to buy it on a discount.

Alt + Tab will either shut down your game or ruin the graphic or make you get stuck.
Else I experienced few bugs. - Mostly a little of the scenary graphic acting wierd.

The puzzles in the first chapter is boring, but hey - it's like a tutorial.

Some people are bugged by the main characters' personality -

You can't always change the view in some spots, often blinding you for a moment with a cliff or getting you stucked on finding a switch.

You can't walk wherever you'd like, it's a fixed path - Which is a shame, because the scenary can be quite enjoyable.
On the other hand it'd probably just confuse people more, and making them waste time walking around if they missed a switch or key-item.

Closing Comments

Even if the graphic and story is good, it is a bit boring. The game is rather slow-paced even when it's so short, it's probably because you crawl and climb really slowly.
On the edge of pressing thumbs down, but it's still a decent game if you can get it on sales.
The last puzzles were difficult enough i'd say they have some replay value.

Soreyasu
Soreyasu

I enjoyed this game, the story is rather interesting since it is (assumingly?) accurate.
The only problem i have with this game is the animation of the characters, some of the voice acting is rather weird and the jumping mechanic in the game, you can bounce off stuff if you jump against something.
Tried this in real life... did not quite work out as in the game.

From a one handed perspective, this game luckily supports controller, because i checked out the mouse and keyboard, bleh that was a bad experience.
The game is not really responsive sometimes on the controller, so it's still not optimal for playing this game. however i did beat it with controller, i do not think i want to go over it again like this.

Overall i give this a 7/10, good story, decent controls, not really suited for one handed gamers like me, but doable.

Pros:

-Atmosphere
-Story
-Puzzles

Cons:

-Controls are a bit unresponsive
-Voice acting is cringy

DickyDiscord
DickyDiscord

Easy achievements but one of the worst games I've every played.

Halcyon
Halcyon

pros:
- a few interesting puzzles that make you think for a bit
- simple, intuitive controls
- the areas look gorgeous, because of good lighting and good fixed camera angles

cons:
- 3d animation is uuuugly
- the scriptwriting is laughably bad
- the level design is as complex as FF13's.
- repeats a lot of the same puzzles

conclusion:
It's a massive step backwards from Uncharted. But if you're a sucker for spelunking and treasure hunting and all that jazz, go right ahead. Just expect to be guided on rails with a very uninspired script.

caubert

15 euros/dollars for this? This is unfair use of Unreal Engine. Would never recommend it, even hard-core spelunking fans should avoid this game at it's full price.

Game is awful, very buggy, not funny, unbelievable narrative (yeah, The Holy Book references do not save you here devs), even so-so graphics are not that charming + bad voice over and short short game.

So if you really want to play this, wait for bundle sale or use a coupon. This is not recommended game unfortunately : /

"I'm goodlooking and funny" - Adam Venture // No, you're not.

Pleco
Pleco

The game has some interesting environments and is kind of like an Indiana Jones theme. So what's wrong? Boring. Walk from silly puzzle to silly puzzle. Characters are unlikable with cringworthy dialoge. A few of the puzzles were good, most were very simple with many puzzles repeated. Also walking around is clunky. Storyline is dull! I can only play for about a half hour at a time and it took me many tries to get half way just casue after getting a little ways I just don't want to play it anymore. Not a terrible game but why play this when there are so many better adventure games.

Venus in Libra
Venus in Libra

Dear Lord, where to begin .....

Ill start with the positives.

- The setting of the chapters is not bad. Its centered around a Judeo-Christian thematic and is rather interesting.

- The female companion/protagonist is quite charming

- Some of the puzzles are pretty neat

Neutral

- The graphics and soundtrack are alright. Nothing spectacular, but its not something that bothers me

- You cannot change camera angle. The camera follow you. At first I was distraught by this, but then it seemed to work out fine.

The Negative

- The main protagonist is annoying, immature and frankly, just stupid. I didnt like him at all for the most part.

- The story is bad. The concept isnt new, but its alright, Whats bad is the pacing, narrative, introduction of characters. Characters are generally not interesting and not fleshed out. Dialogues are bad. It became tiresome after the first hour.

- The puzzles arent balanced. Some may seem quite easy, others hard and take a while to calculate and then there were those where I couldnt understand the logic after finding solutions/walkthroughs online.

- Bad controls and presense of some bugs.

To me this game is a mess. Cant recommend it. You might enjoy some of the puzzles and scenery, so if you get it on sale, it might be worth it. Otherwise, try your luck elsewhere.

Adam's Venture Chronicles is a compilation of priorly three separate 'games' which probably classify as light puzzle casual walking simulators.

The puzzles are partially okay but mostly retardedly repetitive, story, writing, art design, game mechanics, sound direction - especially all over the place dialogue volumes and even more so abysmal voice acting - are all an absolute disgrace. The entire game is on rails and calling it an adventure in both the title and game tag is an insult to any and all adventure games. Compiling just the puzzles without any of the rest into a puzzle collection would have been a horrible game, but still better than what was delivered here.

Worst part being, it's not fun, only tedious. To add insult to injury, Adam's Venture Origins, this games 'successor' is a remake of exactly the same crappy three games bundled in Chronicles and even more short in playtime than this compilation. Just stay away from this, I wish I would have.

If anyone's wondering about the ridiculously high playtime for a game that encompasses a mere 5-6 hours at most ... It was so terrible that I had to constantly alt tab out and do something different, or play something different altogether, as it was insufferably bad. So that's maybe 6 hours of playtime and the rest is involuntary idling caused by the lack of quality of this mindbogglingly piecemeal hackjob.

I usually don't rant like this within my reviews and I do appreciate games with massive flaws if they have redeeming features, but Adam's Venture has none. It's not a game with flaws, it's a game lacking anything positive.

I really enjoyed this old school point & click adventure which includes all three episodes it has really good control pad support It has some great corny humour and of course very dated graphics and gameplay. Some really devious puzzles (Especially the very last one at the end of episode 3) mixed with some very easy puzzles. I believe it was originally three seperate games. There is a batch of around 45 steam achievements most of which you will get naturally through the course of the game but others you need to go out of your way to get but once you complete the game you can go back to the individual chapters of each episode to seek out missing achievements. All in all a very enjoyable game which took me around 8 to 10 Hrs to complete at a canter, 5 to 7 Hrs probably possible. For fans of old school adventures, retro fans and 100%ers. Well worth the money.

An ok game ruined by the controlls

Adam´s Venture Chronicles is an ok game sadly poorly ported from consoles (sometimes you can see the X, O, ^ indocators)

The puzzles are ok, not too easy not too hard. Graphics are old even when the game was relased, sound and music are ok too.

Is a game to pick in one of the steam sales, not worth the full price.

Teknikah
Teknikah

I actually really enjoyed this game.

I found Adam quite funny sometimes, and it was a simple story to play through.
Some puzzles were hard because you don't have much in the way of explanation, just thrown into it to figure it out, but eventually you complete it.

I would recommend this.

The reviewers that called this tedious and monotonous were the ones who got it right. This game annoyed me like no other game in recent memory. After playing it to completion I found myself wishing I had spent the time on a more worthwhile game from my too large library of Steam games.

I rate this game a thumbs down and a vomit, with some anger for good measure.

Only tentatively recommend if you're looking for a casual, linear adventure game that can easily be completed in an afternoon. The exotic historical settings are the best part of the game, so it may hold your interest if you're into archaeological mysteries and searching for ancient treasure. Beyond that, however, if you're looking for challenging puzzles and/or a well-written story/characters, you'll likely be disappointed by their simplicity and one-dimensional personalities. There's just so many better adventure games to play that I can't wholly recommend it, but if it still interests you, buy when it's on sale.

Mr. Boogie
Mr. Boogie

Entertaining. This is a puzzle/action game. The story is kinda a cliche one but is not bad. It is heavily inspired by the Indiana Jones movies. Good graphics and music.

Small bugs, mostly inconsequential stuff. Works fine on Win 7.

I would say the game is a mixed bag. Some puzzles are clever and funny but there are a few that are just annoying, badly explained and there're no hints or a way to skip them. The game can and will frustrate most casual players. The first chapter is challenging and fun but then the difficulty spikes. You might need to look for guides. It includes cards and achievements. Is long enough, took me around 15 hours to finish it. I recommend it but don't expect it to be free of rage-quit moments.

PutridLairMastermind
PutridLairMastermind

Nice, casual adventure/puzzle-solving game. Do not purchase this expecting Darksiders level gameplay and challenge.... I would assume one would know better than to do that.. but this game is a lot of fun so go ahead, give it a shot.

Corl

Is the gameplay in Adam's Venture Chronicles fun? Not really, the puzzles in the first game are too easy, the second game is mostly fine, and the third is full of confusing ones.
Are the graphics and sounds good? Not at all. It looks like an early PS2 game and sometimes the audio sounds like it was recorded on the microphone in an old set of earbuds.
Does the game have good mechanics?
Nope. Jumping is awkward, the collision is really weird and leads to some pretty funny clipping situations, I didn't find a dedicated "leave puzzle" button and alt-tabbing can cause the world to lose the image of the floor.

But dear lord this game's dialogue rivals the Room's dialogue. A lot of it is owed strictly to Adam Venture's voice actor who manages to take the value brand Nathan Drake idea and make him actually entertaining to listen to, whether it's him making genuinely funny comments on the weather, saying something absolutely absurd about his partner Evelyn, or saying lines towards the villains of each game that would make a B-movie script writer groan. I would buy this game on sale strictly for treating it like a movie, the puzzles are either too easy or need a walkthrough so I'd keep one open and enjoy the dialogue, it's a real treat.

Adam's Venture gets a 4/10 for being a rather poor game but the dialogue is a 9/10, I'd recommend.

Purchased this game on sale for $0.99, and I'm quite surprised. Yes it's dated graphically. Yes the voice acting isn't great. Yes it's less than 5 hours long. However, I still think it's worth a playthrough. It's an interesting adventure game that unfortunately never found it's true footing. If this game were to get an actual sequel that modernized and was a passion project (Origins is a remaster that botches the fun puzzles & gameplay), I believe it would do quite well.

The story is there, the characters are semi-there, the execution is what holds this back. Again, for $0.99 you cannot expect a AAA title. Through it all, it's well worth spending an afternoon playing through.

Did you ever want to lay around nude with a chick in her 40's and play games, but she sucks at games because her brother never let her hold the NES controller when they were kids? Well this is your game. We had a lot of fun, and I never had to explain anything beyond the basics to her... the game was accessible yet challenging enough.

Yes it looks a little corny, but that added to the charm for me. I say buy this, even at full price. Really.

Keftsmaell

Holy smokes is this a bad game. Yikes!

Fine, let's get the good part out of the way first; the puzzles can be fun at times, and if you see this game (or these 3 episodes) as just a way to experience a series of puzzles you could get something out of it. If you find it in a sale. And I mean, a grand sale. Maybe.

Everything else is just pure crap. Graphics and animations are sub-par as hell and would barely be fine for a mobile game. Even for early 2010s. Controls feel janky and floaty. The voice acting can almost be ok, but the dialogue is SO BAD it's not even funny. Or, well, I did laugh several times. Not because of the jokes, which are cringe-worthy, but because of how badly written it is. I don't know if I've ever heard or read worse dialogue anywhere. And that says a lot. Also, the rest of the story and lore are as badly written. Nothing makes sense, and the puzzles and set pieces are so damn out of place it's mind boggling. Many things just don't even make any sense physically or time-wise. Characters are illogical and wildly stupid, and not in a charming way.

Sure, the game is made by a small studio. Probably next to nothing in budget, and a short deadline. Still, that doesn't take away from the fact that this game is bad. Really bad. I usually like to explore budget titles in hope of finding those diamonds in the rough. This is not one of them.

As I mentioned above, if you get it for like a dollar you could have some fun with the puzzles. Maybe. I still think your time is better spent elsewhere. This game tries to be an adventure of sorts inspired by Indiana Jones, Tomb Raider and Uncharted, but failing spectacularly.

Take this ammo!

Its like a carbon copy of Indiana Jones minus all the good stuff. The platforming portion of the game isn't bad and quite fluid, but it's the puzzles that will turn you away, running in frustrated anger because a lot of the puzzles are timed motions. Press button 1, right now, button 2, three seconds later, press button 3, immediately, press button 4, two seconds later. Its stuff like this that will send you reeling in disappointment and with no real solid story or funny dialogue to drive it forward, it becomes a tedious and monotonous task of trying, trying again, again, curse, try again, jerk the controller in the air timing your next button push, try again, pray to the timing gods that this is the time it will happen, try again, try again, hear the same dialogue for the umpteenth time, try again, try again, and if the stars align, you're father doesn't strike you down, you will be treated to a cut scene then dragged to endure more and more until the end.

Despite its flaws I enjoyed it. The music and atmosphere are good. while the graphics are dated they are charming. the acting is corny but fun.

some of the puzzles are frustrating while others are fine.
jumping was bugged and rather than just grabbing the ledge you might end up bouncing around from the walls sometimes.

Edit1: Oh, btw, this game sometimes REFUSES TO SAVE YOUR PROGRESS. As soon as you exit the game? Bye-bye, enjoy redoing potentially hours of the game to get your progress back!

Characters are boring with no chemistry; the protagonist is an attempt at arrogant-but-charming that falls flat. I would never have guessed Adam and Evelyn were dating if I wasn't explicitly told so.

The puzzles are few in number, and their repetition eats at the brain until they all blend together. The awful cherry on top is the format; I've seen arrow key movement controls in a few adventure games, and they don't add anything to what would work much better as a point-and-click adventure. The controls are awkward, particularly the jump. They are a straight downgrade to normal click-only controls.

All in all, Adam's Ventures is boring and drags on where another adventure game would still be sparking interest. Adventure aficionados might still find some enjoyment in the typical laid-back pace, but most people will wish they'd spent their time on something else.

Edit 2: Finally finished the game. Ended up consulting a walkthrough for the last puzzles. I just stopped caring. The dynamite puzzle is the most inscrutable, logicless piece of garbage I've ever tried to solve. AVC is literally the worst adventure game I've ever played.

This game was a steal on sale.
The characters don't look so great, but the scenery is awesome throughout. The game has a good variety of puzzles and some basic platforming.
The story and voice acting is kinda cheesy but I just consider that to be part of its charm ("Whoops").
Unlike Tomb Raider games, there's pretty much no action and it's instead focused on exploring and puzzle solving heavily. I highly recommend it, especially with such an attractive price tag on sale :p

Edit: You might encounter a bug or two, reloading the last checkpoint usually helps.
I also suggest to take it slow in the bible passage puzzle, switching too fast might glitch it (the solution will remain the same, but you won't be able to know which one it is)

Action, adventure, treasure, BUGS and Glitches await you in Adam Venture Chronicles,, which is pretty much the three removed Adam Venture games put into a single package.. while the game doesn't appear to have anything special..aside from new bugs and somehow more glitches.. it does offer the chance for another easy 100% game some cards and well,, that's pretty much it..

Adam Venture was an attempt to cash in on the success of the Playstations Uncharted games,, but it was kind of like buying one of those knock off Disney movies that try to cash in on those movies success, with second rate animations, bad voice acting and altered stories which are different enough to get have Disney not Sue them but not enough to actually be different..

Story - Adam Venture is your average explorer, adventurer, dbag who scours the world looking for treasures and girls.. he's like Indiana Jones if Indiana Jones was played by Dolph Lundren... Adam is searching for... something something something. It's like the original Tomb Raider if the original Tomb Raider suffered from poor jumping and glitches..

Gameplay - think of the older Tomb Raiders, but remove the fluid motions and lack of solid foundation... Want to Climb that laddar.. enjoy flying 30 feet into the air and back across the screen.. Want to make a simple jump across a ledge.. enjoy jumping too high, hitting the wall and getting stuck there.. The game requires precise movements, and actions, but the bugs and gltiches means it's like throwing a coin into the air.. will you climb the ladder to cross the open door before it closes or get stuck crouching for 20 seconds until the door closes.. only the games buggy coding will decide..

Pros -
Easy Achievements,
very casual gameplay,
so bad it's good...

Con's
Glitches,
bugs,
terrible voice acting,
horrible graphics even for 2015, looks like a PS1 game when the system first launched..

Recommendation

I simple can't recommend this game,, it really shouldn't exist, if they had simple put the three single games into one and left out the additional bugs, glitches and bad programming I'd say go for it.. with this far inferior product it makes you wonder why they removed the original games which seemed to work nearly flawlessly..

If you can find the game in a bundle or for a sub 3 dollar price tag, i'd say maybe buy it,, I mean it'll give you a few hours of gameplay before you finish the game and add a +1 to your completed games.. Ultimately though for full price you'd be better off buying anything else..

I thought this was a fun Adventure Game. Although it's fairly simplistic, I felt it was put together well. It never came to the point where I had to "Look" for solutions. I had played the games back when they were separate titles. This "Chronicles" contain all 3 of them and you can proceed automatically through them as soon as you finish each part. Like a nice big game. Well not that big as it's only 6 hours if you go for 100% completion. Oh well...

Good game for adventurers.
I am stuck at the point where Adam has to light a torch which opens a gate, and then he must run to the gate before it closes. I can't make it after many, many attempts. Need a skip button here, please, so I can play the rest of the game.
For movement, you use WASD buttons. I prefer point and click, much easier.
I had to get a walkthrough for the dynamite puzzle and the yellow/red dot puzzle because, huh? It would be nice to find clues for the puzzles, have an explanation or a skip button.

Take time to explore so you can find all the cleverly-hidden chests!

I wish I could finish the game. Who knows - maybe there will be an update.

FluffyQuack
FluffyQuack

Extremely janky Uncharted-esque game that feels like it's held together by duct tape. On the bright side, the bad collision detection, bad animations, bad voice acting, and bad dialogue gives it an endearing b-movie charm. The game has a huge focus on puzzles, and with the exception of a couple of puzzles where you can get soft-locked due to bugs, I think they're all pretty well designed.

I highly recommend going for Adam's Venture: Origins instead. It's virtually the same game (95% of the content is the same), but with a lot of improvements to the gameplay and with fewer bugs.
