Alien Shooter and Alien Shooter Revisited both are passes in my opinion; they feel extremely dated and the gameplay feels like one of those quarter-sucking arcade games that is just out to kill you fast and take you back to the title screen.

I enjoyed this game, but for a top down old school action game: You would do better to stick with Zombie Shooter or Alient Shooter two, since the level designs in this one were quite boring.

Pretty much the same as the original albeit better graphics and some very minor tweaks here and there, buy it only if you dont own the original

Don't even bother installing this one. The original was good but this is a failure. They tried to exactly remake the first with additional glowy particle effects. They also added bugs, made everything look clunky and messed up the viewing range so your char walks partway off the screen much of the time.

This game was HARD. I've played several of the Alien and Zombie Shooter games and always had a good time, but this one was maddening. Even on normal difficulty, they barely give you enough money or ammo to fulfill the tasks in each level. Easy mode recommended.

A remake of a good old alien shooter which is unfortunately unplayble for me. It's difficult to explain. Actually a camera is supposed to follow a crosshair but it doesn't. Your charachter just runs to the edge of screen and remains there. As a result you are unable to see what's going on in front of you - is there a tonn of mobs or is it some kind of pick up? No way! You will know only when you bump in it. So i started dying already on a second or third level cause i was just unable to see what was ahead of me. Ofcourse i tried reinstalling, searched for different solutions on forums, but nothing helped.

Buy it for a dollar or two, use Cheat Engine or similar program, have some fun, beat it, uninstall it.

Much improved and less frustrating version of Alien Shooter, play this instead of the original.

what to mindlessly shoot enemys....hords of enemys then admire vast dead hord that u killed? this is your game mild story but thats not the focus of this game of course! Bottom line a arcade game worth playing once all the way throu "that is fun" then playing the challenge mode then beating it "that is still fun" then playing the next game in the series. The truh its worth buying and doing everything in the game at least once....a game that is uncomplicated-simple and fun

Alien Shooter: Revisted is an updated version of Alien Shooter. It has been ported to an engine that looks very similar to Alien Shooter 2, and comes with all the improvements you might expect from that process. Some of the flaws that haunt the original game still appear in this one, however.

Like you would expect, Alien Shooter: Revisted involves shooting lots of aliens, and that may be an understatement. On some levels your kill count will be up in the thousands. You control with WASD and shoot with the mouse, holding down the left button to shoot and using the cursor to aim.

The style of this game is an isometric top down shooter. I found that the isometric view could actually be a hindrance at times, with many enemies being hidden along the wall. You will find yourself being injured by aliens that you could not possibly see, and I have a slight problem with that.

The graphics have been drastically improved from the last version, and some light RPG elements have been added. You can purchase upgrades to your skills or weaponry, however a lot of weaponry can be found in the open throughout the levels. The enemies and characters have some additional detail over the original, and the environments have been give a new coat of paint. This looks more like a commercial title and less like a free flash game that the original did.

The game still lacks voice acting or much of a story. You just kind of dive in to the scenario, committing genocide without much thought. With Alien Shooter 2 having much more story going on, it makes its absence well missed in this game.

While Alien Shooter: Revisted has welcome improvements over the original, it is still missing too much to warrant much of your time. Without much of a story going on, and the upgrade elements still feeling a little too light, I would skip this in favor of Alien Shooter 2: Reloaded or another shooter.

Grade: D+

Highly reccomended. I have gotten many hours of entertainment out of the whole Shooter series. Not a lot of variation, and each game is basically like the other int he series, but it's always fun to shoot wave after wave of grotesque monsters for a few hours.

Biggest put off for me was that you have to move right to the edge of the screen and i forsee BIG problems when aliens attack so didnt play it may result in alot of Thumbs Down but after playing Alien Shooter & Alien shoot 2: Reloaded then jumping on this you will see what i mean, but still grab the pack as its worth it.

An enjoyable top down shooter with a plethora of enemies to destroy. However this game feels like a quick money grab since its almost exactly the same as the original game. If you already have Alien Shooter 1 already rather stick with it and dont look at getting Revisited. Additionally the game has one of the WORST camera's ive had the misfortune of dealing with. My advice is rather stick with AS 1 or AS2.

Buggy. I was basically walking on the edge of the screen most of the time. Enemies just run into you.

This game was promising in the beginning then it started to become bad and then complete crap. The guns are fun to use but in the later levels, only the minigun types and explosives are worth using, or else you will find yourself seeing the main menu countless of times. I understand the approach this game takes, but making a level difficult isnt about spawning endless hordes of enemies which outgun you, the right way is making the AI more competent ( learn from Nuclear Throne please!!). I got this in a bundle and I am very glad I did as this is one of the worst top down shooter I have ever played. Absolutely cheap difficulty scaling and death! And the explosive sound effects are horrible.

Great game, played the original a ton when it first came out, maybe 500 hours just going through it and enjoying the arcade style action. Totally worth the 5$ pricetag, when so many games sell you much easier and faster to beat games for 20$ these days.

My introduction to Sigma Team's "Shooter" series. I played this game some years ago when it was distributed by Reflexive Arcade. A low-budget, low-tech top-down shooter, its nonetheless very fun, full of absolutely ENOURMOUS hordes of enemies that virtually put Serious Sam to shame. The game and its various sequels and spinoffs do only one thing, and they do it well.

If you are a fan of Zombie Shooter, also a game created by Sigma, then this is the kind of game for you, however not with nearly the amount of gameplay hours as Zombie Shooter has.

I bought this game as part of a package many years ago, but only now decided to finally give this game a shot. Is it worth buying? Not really in my opinion.

1. I manage to complete the game on medium within three hours. Now granted, the game can be quite difficult even on medium difficulty, which means if you really want to gain hours from the game, play it on impossible difficulty. It is quite an annoying difficulty to play on, but to each their own I suppose.

2. The game doesn't really offer anything else other than, walk into level, blow MASSES of aliens up and complete the level. Of course after each very short level you make a ton of cash that you spend on permanent stats upgrades and a couple of things like weapons (which are essential in some levels) and of course lives to survive a bit longer. Yes, there are many games that follow the same principle of only blowing shit up that I am a massive fan of, but this one is just not one of them.

3. Yes, the game is fun to some extent... but again it didn't last very long until things just became too tedious and ridiculous. Some times, the level is so alien infested that you need a specific weapon just to get past their numbers, which if you didn't buy before the level started, you'll have to restart the level and make sure you spend money on that weapon. On the same note, once you get the last and most powerful weapon, there is literally nothing, and no amount of their numbers that can stop you, unless you make silly mistakes.

Finally, this is suppose to be a remastered version of the original. I couldn't play the original because of problems with Windows 10, but this game probably offered a bit more visuals than the original.

Again, it was fun while it lasted, but I don't recommend any paying money for this game.

bigfooty
bigfooty

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.... It says I played two hours. Yes... 2 hours. 0.5 hours on the first 90% of the game, and 1.5 hours on the last level of the game. It was on Medium and for some reason all the 3000+ aliens decided to make me their girlfriend in the corridors. I don't know if the game glitched and I ended up on a harder difficulty but this game absolutely yanked the floor mat out from under me.

I was playing Alien Shooter 1 & 2 for old time sake and saw this one... so I played it after beating the other two earlier tonight.... I decdied to try this and beat it in an hour. NOooooooOOooooo... this one said "YOU WANT SOME?!!!" and brought the hurt.

So yeah, I did beat it. Slicing the Pie, Solitary Bounding Overwatch, and having to run around like a little girl screaming "in the game" allowed me to finish the last level. Now I'm going to go rethink my enjoyment of games.

10/10 would suffer again. :)

I recommend anyone getting all three of these to play the original Alien Shooter first... just so you can see what is different. Enjoy.

Sigma Team has managed to sh*t out a real turkey this time.
Would not bother with this one because there are many better games in the series.

Here's why:

1: Useless starting weapon.
- Sure, it is has unlimited ammunition so it is okay for breaking crates but that's it.
- Becomes utterly useless half-way into the second level
(In first level you only break crates and blow up barrels).
- You will have great difficulty killing even the easiest enemies, let alone a larger group.
- In the original Alien Shooter you started with dual pistols that were actually useful.

1: Endlessly respawning enemies.
- Basically if you don't rush trough the levels you will run out of ammunition and the mission
will become uncompletable because the enemies will respawn faster than you can kill them to get even close to objective.

2: Small ammo pools.
- You rarely find enough ammunitionto complete a mission. The purchased ammunition is quickly used up,
making it very hard to manage it trough the levels unless you use the crappy starting weapon to tickle enemies to death.

3: Unusable shop interface,
- From what I have seen, in between the levels you are taken into a "shop" screen,
but you can not buy what you like. There are only a few options on what to buy,
and there is no way to upgrade the weapons you already got.
And when you buy a new weapon in a new slot,
they will not tell what it is beforehand.
You can sell it back to get a full refund but...
Want a different gun? Nope, you got no choice. That or nothing.
Also, you can not sell back the weapons you have bought or picked up earlier,
preventing any strategies on how to upgrade.
But why bother?
Usually the next weapon can be found somewhere behind a secret on the next level anyway.

4: About 90% of the art assets are recycled from the original Alien Shooter, released in 2003.
This game was released in 2010. Sigma Team seems to have gotten complacent and
seems to be content to just re-hash old content without any significant improvements.
Even the music is the same. In fact, they seem to have made it worse instead.

But it is not all bad. The game is more or less the same and gameplay on the levels has not been changed.

To sum it up, this is more of the same, and would not recommend buying it unless you are a hardcore fan.
I'd recommend buying one of the following instead:
- Alien Shooter (The original or with "The Experiment" add-on)
- Alien Shooter 2 (AKA Alien Shooter: Vengeance)
- Alien Shooter 2: Conscription
- Zombie Shooter
- Zombie Shooter 2

I'd rate this 4/7.

Refurbished version of the original Alien shooter. Looking slightly better with higher screen resolutions, provides more heroes to choose from at the start... And, the most noticable thing, right from the start, the game expects you to choose a difficulty level. And if you don't have enough pain in your life, choose the "Impossible" level. Be my guest. It's like smoking a cigar. No badge or achievement whatsoever, a lot of damage to your health... but, if you'll manage it, you'll be feeling yourself as tough as Schwarzenegger or Castro.

Well, actually, no. I'm not going to promote cigar smoking here, for that game (or smoking) will not make you any tougher or better in any way. It'll only hurt you badly. Don't start the "Impossible" level, it's not worth it. I know that because I've tried, and finished it. It's about 1 hour for the first 8 levels, and 4 hours for 9 and 10 levels. Four hours each. Yeah, I could definetely made something better with my life.

But, seriously, Alien Shooter is still a one fine isometric shooter, which weighs so little (220 Mb) that you can just store it on your hardware just in case you'll be not in the mood for anything but simplistic killing all the way. If you never get that mood, well... Sorry, I don't believe you. People who never ever wanted to squash aliens (or whatever else what's got in the way), will not be reading reviews for this game.

Okay, enough with all that Marilyn Manson talks. Buy this game in the bundle with other Sigma team titles, preferrably discounted, and try it out for yourself. For me, it's 6/10 mark game, which looks better than the original, plays a bit smoother than original for a while... And then it punches you right in the kisser, and expects you to swallow it. Still, a good short brake thing, with the survival mode, and red (or green) blood all over the floor, everywhere around... and you know that it was you who did it. Oh, sorry, more of Manson talks, and I don't even like the guy.

Alien Shooter: Revisited

6
PRESENTATION
Story? There's no real story here. Just go out, find anything that isn't human and blow it to smithereens. What else do you need to know?
7
GRAPHICS
While the minimal resolution and detail choices aren't great, the destructible environments and the sheer amount of monsters on screen at one time is quite nice.
7
SOUND
Music is rather useless, but the sound effects of shells and weapons firing are sweet. So are the screams of the creatures you shoot. Overall 8/10 do get if you can.
7
GAMEPLAY
It's a challenging throwback to the past, and facing off against hundreds of monsters is taxing. Co-op would've been awesome, as would the option to see through walls to avoid ambushes.
7
LASTING APPEAL
Survive mode and four difficulty levels extend the gameplay, but the lack of carrying over campaign progress and bringing in a friend, along with the sheer numbers, could reduce your replays.

I was about to write this as a review: "Utter trash of a game! Why? The camera does not center on your character and lags behind you, meaning you will have to go to the edge of the game world while moving around and can't see shit around you. I uninstalled and will remove the game from my account."

BUT, it turn out this off-center camera is due to a bug when vsync is off. Go into your the game's folder in steamapps and open alienshooter.cfg with notepad. Change vsync=0 to vsync=1 in order to enable vsync and fix the camera bug. After that, the game is a fun, but simple old-school arcade shooter with an upgrade system where you just clear levels and shoot aliens. The devs should have fixed this before releasing on Steam. I can't speak to all the differences in this game versus the original Alien Shooter, but this is the same game, so just get this one as it has somewhat updated graphics and all the same content.

Graphics definitely improved and made it more scary lol. Besides the game graphics changing, one key factor that did change is that they added difficulty. Tried impossible but I couldnt even beat mission 3 xd. The camera seems to glitch like those you see on tv but Im not sure if it's aesthethic or bug. I honestly prefer the first game because of its cartoonish game but if you like this game for it's renewed graphics then I can't judge you.

Having recently completed alien shooter orignal, I must say that revisited is by far the superior and preferred version. Everything is reworked and it's if almost all my critcisms against the orginal were addressed here. Also it's dirt cheap, especially on sale, and probobly runs on a literal toaster.

Alien Shooter and it's sequels/remakes has been one of my favorite games for as long as I can remember. I know it's older but it's so simple and fun and breaks gaming down to it's basics: shooty gun, kill things, earn money. What's better than this.

DISCLAIMER: This is a first impressions review, and NOT a full review

Alien Shooter: Revisited is a game developed and published by Sigma Team and is a sort of 'HD update' to Alien Shooter with better graphics and better gameplay

The game offers some pleasant graphics and graphical style, although some ugly glitches here and there, it is pleasant all the same. Alien Shooter: Revisited is a generic game but fun nonetheless

RECOMMENDED :)

Just as the title says "revisited" I am now revisiting this game after several years. Sigma games - in general - are characterised by mindless shooting sequences whether the targets are aliens (Alien Shooter series) or the undead (Zombie Shooter series). If I'm not mistaken lately the guys haven't been very active - the focus shifted to tower defense-type software only.

It all started with the Alien Shooter and the "Revisited" version uses a kind of updated engine that was present in the sequel. Which is - by the way - my favourite. As already hinted at above this is a mindless shooter - we go around and kill every (and I mean every) alien on each level. We pickup weapons, armour, cash and massacre hordes of aliens and bump into a couple of secret places as our projectiles create holes in the wall.

I have returned to this game recently as trading cards had been introduced to the series (plus achievements for the vanilla version) and was happy to see that the game runs well on Windows 10. After the first launch it automatically quit but for the 2nd time I was able to eliminate throngs of xenos in a couple of hours.

If you like shooters played from an isometric perspective you can give this one a try. Do note, however, that the game has dated graphics (the highest resolution is only 1024x768) and it is pretty short. The last couple of levels are pretty difficult without cheat codes, though. Survival game modes can add a couple of more hours to its longevity.

Alien Shooter: Revisited is an improved version of the cult classic Alien Shooter games. In this game, you can finish game missions, acquiring increasingly more money for weapons and stock, dispose of aliens generating and increment your capability with drones and implants. I would buy this game with the bundle and on sale to save money.

It's ok, I guess.

The game was fun and challenging until the 8th level. Then it was ridiculous. Had some "help" in order to finish the game. Not proud of it, but I do this for fun and with the little time I have, I have enough things in my life that are frustrating. Gaming does not need to be one of them.

Basically a remastered "Alien Shooter" with the engine from Alien Shooter 2. The positives include a larger weapon armoury, but negatives include the scrolling jank from that engine as well.

If the original game was a bit too easy for you, this remastered game will set you straight.
There are a few more bells and whistles but the premise remains the same. Shoot 'dem aliens.
You can adjust the difficulty level right up to "impossible" as well, which isn't impossible but just painful enough to be.

Because of the increase in difficulty, the game is a lot more brutal - which will be a challenge to some but a turn-off to others.
I liked it anyway.

Aside from the updated weapons and slightly better graphics, everything else is worse than the original game. Most noticeable problem is that the protagonist can get stuck in obstacles very easily, probably due to poor level design - you may spend 30 minutes trying to get through a level and suddenly you walk into an inescapable spot, try all you want but the character won't be able to get out unless you restart the entire level, wasting a good amount of time.
This broken remaster is not worth even the discounted price, unless you just want to collect it.

Dated looking, but lots of action going on and these Sigma horde shooters tend to be short. Quick retro horde blaster for sure. Dated visuals vs fun gameplay. I'd say a middle thumb for sure. Sigma games are just more of the same with Aliens or Zombies.

First 8 levels - Masterpiece, i like the new way of looking
Last 2 levels - a fuking mental test

Audio - they fucking fixed it

Gunplay - You have reload now. Minigun is much more better. Flamethrower - hold left mouse and dont ask why all of your fully bought ammo gone in 5 seconds. I know they try to rework the weapons but try tapping flamethrower not spraying it

Secrets - yes you can check the original's secrets but till the alien base stage , they completely remove all of the broken walls secrets from original and secrets count are higher than 30 (originals are usually lower than 15) . You dont know how you reach those secrets either cuz the game doesnt pop up "You found secret) .

Last 2 levels are problematic and you have to cheese/cheat cuz they litteraly nerf secrets which leads to significantly less advantages over the aliens. Level 9 has a ton of finale gun ammo but you dont have the gun cuz you spent most of the money on upgrading your stats and armor. Level 10 should have been the best level in the game but it has scripted events

1st scripted event: You entered the room door => Spawn a tons of red/orange turrets beasts
2nd scripted event: You entered the room => Spawn a tons of red/orange alien spiders/turret beats

Now do that in every single rooms (there are 10 of them have fun)

I have to cheat to beat the last 2 levels and i cant even enjoy those either
If your game require to cheat for winning, it is no longer a good game.
Play easy. Dont touch medium/Impossible cuz the game will become a mental test

- 4/10 play the original game

cheath - for health
stammo - for ammo (100 each)

You can thank me later. The game will test how fast you typing before you die.

Buggy, broken "remaster" of the original Alien Shooter, they redid levels with sprites and textures from Alien Shooter 2, but left aliens the same old color based boring blobs. There are incompatibility issues with newer systems/resolutions as well as game play issues, from invisible obstacles to just straight up broken difficulty. Play the original, it's much better.

iTom

This game is same as "Alien Shooter" and use engine of "Alien Shooter 2"
So they call Alien Shooter: Remaster
but "Alien Shooter" original is better than "Alien Shooter: Remaster"

Alas
Alas

This is a remake of the first Alien Shooter in the Alien Shooter 2 engine. It contains the same classic levels, same enemies and same weapons. This time around with improved graphics and extra special effects. Sounds great right? If only. What the game doesn't advertise is the several questionable design choices included in the package.

Let's start with the primary selling point. Improved graphics. What does that mean? Basically more detailed textures and fancier lighting. Only that's a mixed blessing at best. You see, the original game had simple, bright graphics. It made everything you needed to see clear. It didn't hinder you and the gameplay was designed with this simplicity in mind. That's not the case here. For instance, the improved textures cause pickable items to blend into the background. As for the improved lighting, that basically means the game is just much darker. So how does that help? Atmosphere? Wrong game for that. On the "bright" side, what's definitely not darker is explosions. Big fancy explosions straight out of a Michael Bay movie. That grenade launcher alone can give the Las Vegas strip a run for its money. End result? More eye strain. Finally, for some reason, they chose to maintain the old bright coloured textures for the enemies despite the fact it no longer fits with the new art style.

Graphics aside, there is more strange design choices to the gameplay. For starters, the remake adds reloading to the game. Just like Alien Shooter 2 did. What that means is that weapons have a clip and once that empties they stop firing for a couple of seconds. Then a new clip is in and you can keep on firing. So here is the big question. Why? This is not Alien Shooter 2 with its vehicular combat and choice of weaponry. The pace is not the same. Indeed, Alien Shooter had exactly one focus, frenetic, bombastic, relentless action. Do you think adding hiccups to that is the way to go? Add to that a very problematic rebalance, both to weapons but perhaps more importantly to gear availability overall and you have a recipe for disaster. Indeed the last few levels are nigh unbeatable as a result of those changes. At least without cheats.

In the end, it seems the primary flaw of this game was that the developers didn't seem to realize Alien Shooter and its sequel are different beasts and blending them together requires some proper planning. Don't get me wrong despite all these idiotic decisions, this is still an Alien Shooter game, so a ton of fun to play, until you hit that wall in the last few levels of the campaign at least. But why get this version and not the superior original? It doesn't even have the Steam features, such as cloud and achievements, the original offers.

Not recommended. Get the original instead.

Vovalia The Bluehaired
Vovalia The Bl…

So, they decided to remake the original Alien Shooter on the engine of it's sequel, what can go wrong? Well, firstly, this remake has all the same engine problems that Alien Shooter 2 had. Secondly, it seems developers didn't even cared about making the game aesthetic to the tone of the sequel: they simply took assets of Alien Shooter 2 and made Alien Shooter 1 of them, and where there were no appropriate assets they just took ones from the original, which do not match with the sequel a bit; vivid monsters look weird on the semi-realistic surroundings, half of the weapons have the same model, and weapon arts do not match with their look! Thirdly, they broke the balance of the original and even of the things that worked in the sequel: enemies take too much time to kill, on a a certain level a certain weapon is OP and you cannot finish it without that gun whatever your skill, armor now gives you psychological protection at max, the whole game is either extremely hard or tiresomely easy depending on your weapons and difficulty. Finally, the original just looks better: all those semi-realistic Alien Shooter 2 textures just fall behind the cartoon-ish surroundings of the original which still hold up pretty well.

I could understand if this was a fan remake or a DLC for Alien Shooter 2, but no, they sell it like a separate full-fledged game just milking money out of a popular title. Do not buy this crappy piece of remake - if you want a good meaty shooter go play the original.

If you cross these two games together, you get a super game. In this version, the campaign is much worse than in the first, but the survival mode is much more interesting.

Nice little remake of the original. Graphics look a bit nicer, gameplay is much of the same. Lots of satisfying shooting at hoardes of aliens! Great mindless and satisfying fun!

Uhhh, it's the first game, but on the second one's engine, the changes are few enough that it doesn't feel fresh.

There are a few rebalances, more characters, but they don't make much sense compared to the tank/speed choice from the first one, here each char focuses on two of 4 stats: hp, speed, accuracy, ammo cap. Last two were previously on similar level for both characters, so it's kind of an unnecessary addition.
Next difference is reloading, all weapons reload now, so they bumped firerate for most of them to have roughly similar dps.
Another is cash distribution, in both I went for almost all secrets, yet in the Revisited I couldn't get the same amounts, that one is pretty nice, the progression feels smoother compared to 1, though it's probably worse if you're playing first time and don't know where secrets are. And that brings me to a pretty big issue:
Halfway through the levels had straight up missing secrets, wtf happened? I tested all the old places, as well as searched for new ones, but the secrets were cut, because apparently the wall breaking animation was not modeled for the pretty lower labs.
That thing was a little bit of a problem, as from reasonably powerful, I became a wimp on a later level. At a point where spawnpoints started spewing rocket launcher aliens, there was no way to rush through like the original, unless you got the invincibility bubble. So my dps was not enough to mow down the horde fast enough, and neither could I afford the super gun that would carry me through, even though I had like 80% secrets found.
Once you get the last gun, the game comes back to what the OG feels like, but the midpoint choke, that to a small extent was present in the first one, is so tough that you already felt like the final challenge is behind you. Maybe with a different character, and the missing secrets in mind (god damn crystal ball brain required) it's easier to min-max a powerful build, but at that point you should realize that something got messed up when rushing this thing out the oven.

So, it had potential to be a neat little mix of 1 and 2, if it had like an additional level in between, no cut content, or different approach to rebalancing. Instead I kind of regret buying it, even for that cheap, I would definitely suggest going for 1 or 2 instead. I like those games, they're fun little afternoon mayhem, Revisited is the same (or even less) content wise as 1, so you lose absolutely nothing by skipping it.

Worse than the original. "Improved" graphics made the game actually worse because of the eye straining visual effects.

Pros
*nothing

Cons
*Constant flickering
*Weapons are unbalanced and enemies are too weak to provide any variation
*Low effort on remaking the monsters
*Map is not very faithful to original game
*Assets are reused from as2 without considering if they are appropriate for a remake.
