Super fun strategy game with limited replay value.

The story is short, but the aesthetic is fantastic. Polished art and concise flavor text sets a great tone without asking much of the player. Levels are challenging, but not often frustrating, and there are a variety of ways to build your thieves guild. I only wish the campaign ran longer! Maybe a sequel or expansion will offer some more content at some point.

It's a short and sweet ride that's worth every penny.

I'm too lazy to write how much I thank myself for purchasing this game but well I don't have anything else to do while it's installing on my second PC and oh wait it's done.

Great "worker placement" board game. I love the voices and sound so much that I actually listen to the game rather than my own music, which is rare. I cannot recommend this game enough.

Engaging strategy and turn based tactics board game. I was worried it would become repetitive, but the maps and challenges add a puzzle quality that keeps interest in a fun way.

not generally my type of game, its pretty much a small-scale board game, 2 type resource farm/management, combat by numbers, some stealth, claim and reclaim territories. Campaign makes it really easy to learn, curve jumps when you dont expect it, but no major challenges, very casual. Its alright though.

This is a fun, simple strategy game with lots of style. It could be a tabletop game. Interaction is strictly turn-based. Early in playing, it felt like a lot of random good and bad luck. But after I understood the rules better, strategies to defend against and limit the AI's opportunities became clear. You can play through the game in maybe 8 hours on "easy", and after that replay value could come from higher difficulty levels, skirmishes, DLC. I understand there's an online mode, which might be great, but I haven't tried it yet. Voice acting and artwork really give the game an enjoyable feel.

The campaign isn't particularly long but gives you a good grounding of the mechanics for online play. I've completed it on the app and now a second time on Steam, lots of replayability.

As a nerd that owns over 200 or so strategy board games, I'm really digging "Antihero". It really does capture the feel of a good strategy board game and the campaigns all have unique win conditions. I haven't played it verses another player, but the solo campaign is a ton of fun. If this were a traditional board game, I would definitely add it to my collection. As a video game, it definitely deserves a place in my game library. If you are a tabletop board game enthusiast or just like planning out your strategies multiple turns ahead then this game is for you!

Fun game, but unbalanced. Whoever starts with an extra trading house has a huge advantage. There is currently no way to remove the extra trading house and no way to create a mirrored map. This makes it unplayable for me and my friends.

Very enjoyable little board game that has few random elements, but some hidden/bluff mechanics. The theme and mood is great, and it's fun to play against others. The biggest shame is that the only multiplayer mode is 1v1. Would have loved to play 4-player matches. Still worth it if you like board games, though.

Antihero is a fun and quite simple strategy game, that gives you more than just one way to win.
It doesn't take long to understand the way to success and is easy adjustable for you level of difficulty.
All in all it is a good game for in between and for the smaller challenges, regarding strategy games.
If on sale, totally worth it

Honestly, it isn't a bad game, but I've beat the entire campaign in 4 hours, and don't really enjoy it enough to deal with playing online. If you like board game like strategy and don't mind having to deal with people online then it might be worth the price, but if, like me, you like to play your games alone - don't bother. The art style is cute, the music and sound fx are okay but repeat often. The game is heavily influenced the RNG of the map. If the campaign were a little more developed it could be a 6 or 7 - but I just can't recommend a game this short that then relies on multiplayer or just random matches against the AI.

Nice art atyle, fun game. The campaign is 3-5 hours long, depending on the difficulty and simply how fast you play.
The only point I can complain about is the missing counter play in certain situations (fully leveled gang getting obliberated, can't be guarded except for putting tons of thugs around them - I'd like to tap them the same way I can trap buildings).
While I think the price tag of 15€ is a bit too high (at least if you don't plan to play it in multiplayer) I can fully recommend getting it on a sale.

Holy sh... Really original strategy game. It is much better than I expected (wrongly so, for sure). The pace is great both gameplay-wise and in ramping up difficulty. Beautiful visuals. Fantastic atmosphere. I hadn't played it due to lack of controller support, but it's worth it even without it. I should have just known that it is published by Versus Evil. I've loved every game by them. Get it!

Jet
Jet

I'm giving this a thumbs up, as I enjoyed it and I loved the graphics/asthetic. I really liked the gameplay mechanics.

BUT.

Some of the chapters are not balanced very well. A couple were super easy while another couple were extremely hard. Chapter 3 for example was really tough to the point where even on easy it was super hard. It took me a lot of tries to get past it, and looking at the forum for the game it seems like lots of other people found this chapter hard too. But the final boss chapter was pretty easy to do even on non-easy difficulties. I think one or two may have been a bit buggy as well. One map it told me I should get my thugs to infiltrate a palace using a mask feature that was only available on that map, but I completed the map without doing so making the mask feature pretty useless.

Also, for multiplayer/online I have so far not been able to find a match at all. It's possible I am just looking at the wrong time of the day, but even if that is true, I would expect there to be the occasional available match. But no, nothing. So if you are buying this game for the online matches, you may want to reconsider.

Lastly, the game was relatively short. I think the game would have more longevity if there was an element of maps being procedurally generated. I mean, there is a degree of RNG with some building locations but the maps are essentially the same each time you play them.

Lots of fun, and a pretty quick game to play. I primarily played this as multiplayer with the SO, which probably made it more fun. I like the fact that they'll send emails that it's your turn so you don't have to be online at the same time. There is some variety in game play, with each map having a special goal to it. After 10 hours or so we did get bored and moved onto a different game. However particularly if you get this on sale it's a fun 10 hours with friends.

Hekate_Faerye

I am conflicted with this game- as much as i love it.. i hate it I am just so frustrated with the fact you have to wait over 5 min easy for a random connect for the online synchronized game. the asynchronized is fun but after waiting forever i find myself just resigning so i can move on to someone playing more often.

I will probably keep playing even though the campaign is limited and can be done in a day easy, I see a lot of fun potential in this game and i have high hopes for later on...

fix these issues and i would say i would recommend this, as it is.. looking for a fun strategic game to go against an AI.. this is fun.. .however i would stress, from what i can tell from the hours i played.. .

Walker
Walker

It's a fun turn-based strategy game where you have to use your resources wisely. It's made more fun by levels with different win conditions where you have to steal the royal jewels, kill three roaming gangs, murder the final villain three times before he consolidates too much power, etc.
It's pretty short game too, I completed the campaign on medium in about seven hours so keep that in mind if you like that or not.

N A N N O
N A N N O

At first I was skeptical with the art style, but because I once played 'Don't Starve' games, so I guess it's an OK-ish for me. To my surprise, it's awesome and fits the 'dark humor' and story-lines that looks like a comic of some sort (if you'd like to put it that way).

Now the challenges even coming from the tutorial mode could use part of your brain to use. This game can be relaxing and also frustrating at the same time, depends on level of difficulties you wish to achieve but I like mechanism of this game. Every turns seems like matter (if you're on Normal and Hard mode) and if you fail to see the opportunity to win; you'll have a hard time (at least for me) to catch up...

Anyway I recommend this totally for its game-play wise that requires strategy (a bit for luck, because it's NOT RNG) and you can keep coming back if you wish to get all achievements and using your brain altogether.

Lycentia

If you can get this on sale for less than $5 (as I did), go for it. But I can't really call this worth $15.
I finished the campaign in ~5 hours. At first, it was difficult, but once I realized half the units were just a waste to resources, I got through it rather fast. The end makes it sound like more is coming, but the dev said he is done with it.
I have no personal interest in online multiplayer and it seems to be added just to flesh the game out because of the abysmally short campaign. Plus, multiplayer is d-e-a-d.
It is not necessarily a bad game, but it does not justify it's base price.

Anti Review?

I don't know, I try to avoid this game since they lunch many years ago, and I don't feel like I want to play it. Why? The game play trailer! You see your character move around on the grid but it is not traditional tactic style movement, you see a lot characters going in the build and out of the building. My god, it is very confusing, what going on with this game?

But then, the time is finally come. After a few years past and most review look positive, and a discount is very decent, I decide to try the game that everyone talk about (or used to) once and for all. Which is... very surprising, the tutorial is very good. The game mechanic is very clear and the story is not so shabby. I'm surprise that I can adapt to the game very well, I can plan my game and I can make that happen accordingly, I finish the campaign in a few day (and most of that time I spend on catching some achievement).

What can I say? It is a great game, one of a kind.
It's a shame that I feel anti about it at first, but at least now I don't feel that way anymore.

A great little turn based rogue (ISH) game.... Decent learning curve for either experienced turn based/Strategy addicts or for newer players. Some of the levels can be a bit confusing to start but once you have a half decent grasp of the mechanics the game can become quite easy.... 10/10 Definitely would rccomend.

A beautiful game well worth the price! This intuitive turn-based digital strategy boardgame transports you into a graphic-novel like kid's noir city, where kingpin thieves manipulate urchins and gangs for territorial control of city resources (like a board game adaptation of the Gangs of New York movie, which it seems to emulate). It seems to cater best to the intermediate to casual level strategy gamer, offering games lasting about 20 minutes, and a campaign that carefully tutors you and ramps you up into harder levels. The art, animation, UX and audio are wonderful, and the game itself offers a solid playing experience with some variety across the 11 city campaign, its 3 difficulty levels and asynchronous versus mode online. Obviously this was a labor of love, as every detail is beautifully done, from snappiness of every interaction, so easy and intuitive, the cinematic effects, darkly joyful, the alignment in mood of music and art, etc. The only criticism is that the challenge and complexity are limited/casual after you've played through the campaign once. On the first playthrough its wonderful fun figuring out how to vary your strategy and tech-tree choices, but once you've figured out a winning strategy and learned how to adapt it to the 11 or so play variants in the campaign, it becomes relatively straight forward to beat almost every level, even on the hardest setting (mostly by focusing on maintaining majority control of resource generating buildings while selectively killing or evicting the enemies most value resources). Hopefully an expansion will be offered that escalates the challenge and replayability (maybe with less handicapped AI, randomly generated maps & enemy configurations more like Slay the Spire, or expansions to the tech-tree and character/building types). I'd definitely jump to buy any of these ;)

Rip Torn
Rip Torn

This is a really good turn-based strategy game. Ultimately it's a 1v1 competitive online game. There is a single player campaign, but the lasting appeal is online. Playing through the story will give you a good introduction to how the mechanics work and the strategies you will be employing when you decide you're ready to face a human.

Plenty of people have described how the game works, so I won't get into that. All you need to know is that the game has a lot of strategy and the online works well. It's fun to level up your thief and guild each turn. As you uncover more of the city, your strategy might change depending on what you find. The matches can last about 45 minutes, but you can also play asynchronous games where you take your turn, then quit the game and have it email you when it's your turn again. It's pretty convenient. For the ranked matches, you have to stay online though, and your turns have a time limit.

All in all, it's a very well designed game with a decent amount of depth. Randomness isn't much of a factor and there is no pay-to-win mechanic. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys 1v1 board games or strategy games.

Originally I bought this game because it was on sale and was curious about it. In the end I'm incredibly glad I did.
I enjoy both the campaign and the skirmish mode as well. It has a fun little story, an interesting art style and is quite easy to learn the ropes of the game.
That being said, I did not say it is an overly easy game. Expect to lose a couple rounds here and there, learn from the mistakes and continue on to conquer...in the shadows...quietly...with bombs!

Great Fun!

After finally trying it, I find Anithero is quick, lighthearted, and strategic fun. When I first heard about the game, the crime theme turned me off and I didn't buy it until it was deeply discounted. Now I can't stop playing.

Likes:
The music is delightfully evocative; so are the accents to my American ear.
The comic book art style suits the game very well.
Quickness of play is refreshing after hours and hours of Civ 6 and XCom. I haven't timed myself, but my impression is that I win or lose games in about 15-20 minutes and 15-20 turns.
There seem to be different routes to victory via promotion trees, at least against the AI, and a feeling of being easy to learn yet difficult to master.

Dislikes:
Random maps can make matches easier or harder. But I appreciate that this rewards exploration and requires new strategies.
I wish there was a career mode, or at least stats, beyond the single campaign.

I haven't tried PvP yet, but the AI works well enough for me so far. I am having a blast with this game and wish I had tried it years ago!

Cold As Ice
Cold As Ice

This game is awesome. A surprising amount of depth for what on the surface seems like another Flash-style video-game-board-game. BUT. IN THIS INSTANCE. NO 2 games are alike. I feel like its a bit underrated due to it being turn-based and requiring a bit more patience to get into. Once you do, it is highly, highly worth it.

Boardgame-wise: almost an exploration/worker placement/territory control game.

Videogame-wise: fits into that lovely nook of being a highly-designed and stylized, easy-to-grasp mechanics-but difficult to master gameplay due to procedural generation and varying scenarios.

All this provides for a fun, tight, and intriguing choice-making vg boardgame, in the same vein as Armello and Tharsis (less random chance/sucky than the latter), with more of a focus on your 'Master Thief' and their and territory conttrol.

Plus it totally embraces the 'Oliver' & 'Gangs of New York' stereotypes which makes for a hilarously giiggly, dark, comedic, 4th-wall breaking game.

A very nice board game.
The rules of the game are very clear. It's one of easy-to-learn and hard-to-master. Playing singleplayer is pretty challenging even in normal mode. But AI somewhat has only one strategy so if you get to know what it is, it is pretty easy to finish the campaign. Multiplayer is somewhat active but getting 300 wins is one of the achievements and probably hard to acquire. It doesn't take more than 30 mins normally to finish one game unless you think too hard. Multiplayer might become painful if your opponent takes too much time thinking. It's similar to playing chess multiplayer for that matter.
The whole design and music was really tasteful whole time. It's so slick!
10/10 recommended.

Just beat the game.

This game contains several maps to beat, each is challenging, even you can choose difficulty but later levels can still be hard.

It's not a roll-dice and become a millionaire kind of game, in each turn you earn limited money to spend on upgrades or to hire people.
You need to use it wisely- decide when to buy and what to buy first. Then, figure out the best route to have your hero discover, which house to infiltrate first and which one to assassin first.
I think after some 3 hrs you start to know the trick.

Game is fun but kinda limited, as in each of level the machinic is the same, even the maps are different.

I grabbed this game for a couple bucks during a sale event for a friend and I. I’ve not done the multi-player yet BUT the single player version is fun and challenging.

You must set yourself up for success and do it quickly. The computer is ruthless and quick, once you have hit turn 10 or so, you better be setting yourself up for the win in the next 1 or 2 turns or it’s over. If you want to slow play the game and try to win using only one option, like assassination contracts or bribes, the computer will defeat you. There is only one real strategy, win and do it quickly by whatever means necessary.

If you like turn based strategy style board games, I highly recommend AntiHero especially for the 5 dollar and under price.

This game is geared towards online PVP games which I'm not one to do so I'm just going to review the story mode. I enjoyed this game, you need to plan ahead because you only have a certain number of actions per turn and you can't do everything. The story mode isn't very long as you can tell from my play time but it does have replay value as you could pursue different win conditions in the level. Good game, worth a look, especially for PVP gamers.

Creative style for a game unlike anything I have seen. Having the freedom to purchase the units of your choice - visit aka rob the places you wish and discover and uncover each map as you wish is all exciting.

This game is a lot of fun and I continue to have hope that it will make a comeback! It was worth every penny and quite enjoyable!

Still waiting for expansions and a higher replay value; definitely want more characters to play in a sandbox mode once the story line is completed. Perhaps even an option for the size of a randomly created map and more than one AI or player to vs at a time.

It's a good game, but very short and despite its brevity it gets repetitive. On heavy discount I recommend it, otherwise no. The multiplayer could be great fun as well, if there were more players.

Most of my "play time" comes for waiting in the lobby for others to make their moves. Which speaks to the core quality of the game, but also to the fact that you will never find anyone to play with.

The single player campaign play time on hard mode is about 4 to 5 hours only. Still a decent game, with a decent amount of polish. I wish there was a little more to it still.

Took me 6.5 hours to complete the entire game, and I'm not the type of gamer who whizzes through games. I like to take my time and figure out the nuances of the game and really enjoy it. There are online options and skirmishes where you can go back and play the same levels against an AI, but I like it when the story continues and you have more things to uncover and bosses to beat. For the $4 I paid for it, it was worth it. However, I can't recommend it at it's normal price of $15. Not enough content but the graphics are fun and the concept is novel.

This game is great, but the dev is lazy and killed his own product.
We only have 10 stages in campaign, for a game this style, 10 stages should be "world 1", with 10 more worlds at least.
But no. Developer said he abandoned the game, does not care for who did support him, and went to make money on another project. You can beat the 10 stages in a couple of hours, and no more to do unless you want to repeat a duel with computer.
Ah, yes, there is a online duel match possibility. I did wait 3 hours for online match. noone came.
I was playing in family share, so i was excited about the game and bought when i was on stage 9. For my surprise, ended on stage 10. I kept waiting for online match for hours. In 3 days, i was able only to find one online match, and no more.
Dev, put this game for free if you abandoned. At least we can find online matches.

Antihero is a fairly fast paced strategy game involving territory production. Early decisive moves can have a fast impact on game progression. Additionally the ai is relatively ok at its job if not countered early enough in the game. Some of its decisions are questionable. Its an easy game to slip in a couple of rounds in between quiet time. The campaign doesn't last long given its fast pace nature. There are skirmished you can do with the ai but likely more fun to be had from other online players.

A good little board game. Graphics are cool and software runs without bugs. Mechanics is easy to learn and fast to master: player controls a thief guild and must to enhance it for reach certain victory points by different ways before his rival get them: steal gold, pay bribes, occupy buildings, kill foes. Gameplay is funny and quick, 10 to 15 turns average per session. Locations and characters look like the "Oliver Twist" book and "Gangs of New York" film. The single player main campaign, with all possible achievements offline, takes about 26 hours, strongly depends on luck and smart. Has an arcade mode with 7 maps and widely customizable rules, allowing a vast replayability; many products assures the same but very few are real: this is a truly one, specially for children, but is shorter for an adult. if it had have more maps, dices and cards would have been an instant classic. Cheap in bundles and offers.

I wish Steam had a neutral vote. I love this game's art direction, voiceovers, and overall feel. The gameplay is satisfying as well. However the enemy AI is just too irritating. Even on easy it constantly just undoes everything you do. Capture something, next round it uncaptures it. Make a thug, next round it kills your thug. Even fulfilling assassination contracts is irritating as if you don't do it exactly the perfect way the first round the enemy just steals it from you.

Maybe I just suck really bad at the game, but I find it frustrating as hell. I can't stand strategy games where I can't build my base of operations up.....the enemy AI just dismantles everything as quickly as you pay for it.

Great victorian-era thieves guild board game, wherein you're trying to defeat the enemy guild before they defeat you. This is one of those games I almost uninstalled out of frustration, at first, but i decided to come back for another try. There is a definite rhythm to the gameplay, and if you dont strike that groove, you can get annihilated quick.

I recommend reading the player-made guide here on steam, it has some of the finer points and advice that may frustrate beginners. The aesthetic is great, and thru the scenarios you'll guide street urchins, gangs, thugs, and eventually even a sisterhood of assassins in your quest to rule the gaslit streets.

The missions are varied enough to make you change your play style between scenarios, and a skirmish mode w/ random maps is waiting after you finish the campaign. The campaign is only 11 scenarios, and I've seen complaints on the forum about it - that doesnt bother me. By the time I rounded the corner on scenario 11, I was feeling like I'd done what I wanted to do.
There's a randomized map skirmish mode that you can keep playing, if you want more, and I've put a couple games into it since then. The AI is smart enough to keep you on your toes, and there's a harder difficulty available if you want to ratchet up the challenge.

I picked it up for ten bucks, and I consider that a fair price, and really even full price at 15 isnt a stretch for the good time I had with it. This is one of those games, like Armello, that I can see coming back to occasionally for the weekend just to play random maps. Good game!

Addicting and quite fun! Easy to learn, hard to master!

Antihero is a great strategy game for two players. It definitely takes advantage of beeing a video game in a great way !

I enjoy this as a single player game I can quickly play vs the AI

So I'm writing this solely from the perspective of getting it for the singleplayer/skirmish. So if you're interested in Mplayer, maybe check another review. I'm not going to get you the right information to make an informed decision.

For a game where you would want to think a lot, there is both too much RNG and also not enough to think about. It feels like I'm supposed to be predicting where the enemy will go and what they will do, but I can't know that information (without studying the levels way too much) because of the fog of war. Of course I can see that if I focus on getting more action points and exploring, but then I gimp my other stats. The enemy gains far less benefit from exploration that I would and far too much from the others. And they will always start at an advantage so it breaks down to you exploiting the AI rather than outsmarting it. You figure out what it can do and what it's programmed to do and then just counter that specifically. That's not fun. I want a simulated human, not an overtuned AI.

And even the game's balance is kind of bad. The concepts involved feel like they're intended to balance around economy, blocking and control, yet in practice it's so biased towards map control with so little ways to deal with being thug spammed by an AI that's been given a gold advantage. You get cut off way too easily because the AI has more money and it's not an organic experience as a result. Too much of your income and progress relies on hoping you get the right RNG to start off with even on the campaign levels. I seriously hate games that their single player campaign feels like it's just a multiplayer map because it leaves so many holes in the design. You can't 'plot' your moves for the next run, you just have to hope for the right amount of RNG or study the game to the point it becomes bland.

I'm not at all interested in multiplayer, but I like turn based board game style games usually. And I've had this game sitting my library forever. Just thought I'd dust it off to relax with. Nah, it's just too frustrating. I don't really feel like if I sit down and think about it that I'll get a lot more reward from it. I don't know where everything is from the start so I can't plan my economy too well. Yet I feel like even if everything was static that it wouldn't improve the game all that much. Because it relies way too heavily on the campaign just feeling like one giant tutorial that slowly ramps up. I made it to the three thug mission and just got so sick of playing it until finally I spawned next to a bank and several neutral npcs spawned in the right spots so the AI baited himself into the open repeatedly. Yet I STILL lost afterward because in order to land the kills on the thugs I had to develop knife technology which meant I couldn't buy the first bribe which he then did and it led to my loss.

Yet how am I supposed to predict that? Play the game until I know exactly everything the AI will do or until I hope RNG plays out in my favor so heavily I can breeze through the mission? It's really not fun and it's such a disappointment. I'd held off on playing the game because I had a feeling it would be like this. I'm sad that it turned out that I don't like the game so much. It's just not worth the advertised price. Again, if you're just getting it for singleplayer.

Good tactical lite game with great visual cues and learning curve.

This game is really fun. If you're looking for a board game fix, this is a good choice. There is a small number of extreme gamers who will not be satisfied with the mechanics because they are not looking for fun. They're looking for something to complain about. If you are not one of those people, and the premise of the game seems interesting to you, you will probably be happy with it.

The only negative side to this is that there isn't more single player content.
great game overall.

Had a lot of fun scouting the streets and outwitting my opponents in this strategic board game. My only wish is for the campaign to get expanded with more scenarios in the future.

I seriously love this game so much!
I could play it all day!
The music and sound effects are great and the artstyle is so cartoony-cute for those little criminals.
Playing against friends is really fun, but sometimes playing against AI's is a bit annoying. They literally cancel your every move in games with high difficulty level.
I'm a bit curious about online matches as I've never been able to find an opponent - although I can see (in the leader board) that many people actually play live matches, which is a bit frustrating. I've waited many times over 10mins just to find someone but nope, no luck at all:(
But on the other hand, the casual matches are great! You can play at your own pace as well as your opponent (which is a great feature for someone who doesn't have the time or doesn't want to stay on a match for 30-40mins without a break) and you can actually have a great time!
I do recommend this game for Board-game/ Strategy lovers like myself, I just wish I could finally play a live match sometime!

Really enjoyable, it's challenging, the art is fun to watch. The only problem is that it's too short. I really wished I could continue in campaign mode, as I like those.

good premise. charming theme. execution poor. half baked then released. poor value 1 player campaign. online vs play sparse and not much fun. the game had potential and then they dropped the ball

I really liked this game when it was still being developed. I finally bought it today. The hard AI is total cheater bullshit. super disappointed in the developers for this reason. there is no rhyme or reason why the computer should be able to do what it is doing from an equal standpoint. what crap.

This game was a surprise to me. Bought it as a recommendation from a friend and got it since it was on sale and cheap, but what I found was well worth the money.

It's easy to learn, with a short campaign that introduces mechanics as you go and showcases the game's many objectives. You have a main unit that interacts with the game's tiles (that may give you money, lanterns or something else) and which returns to safety when your turn is over. Over the course of the game, you can buy units with gold (used to buy units) or lanterns (that are used to unlock more units or abilities). I don't know how to explain how it plays, but it's overall simple and straight to the point but hard to master (especially because whichever strategy you'll employ depends on the state of the map and on its mission).

The AI plays well, with a Hard difficulty that really puts you on your toes unless you're experienced with the game. Aside from that, the multiplayer lobby adds to the replayability and the game has a dedicated Discord server for matchmaking if you want to meet up and play with someone.

The presentation, cartoonesque sprites, soundtrack and goofy english-cockney-french accents in the game all contribute to the experience.

I absolutely loved every minute playing and I wish there was more because it's such an explorable concept, but since it's an old game I really doubt there will be anything new - at the very best, maybe bug fixes or balance patches. Will definitely follow the dev for their next projects.

It's fun, kinda, but even by the second and third missions I was noticing how quickly the AI can just steamroll your progress. A single eviction unit can remove all your resource units from a building (that just took you three turns to fill.) If you didn't use a trap unit, you're out 3 turns. If you used a trap unit, you're out 4 turns - because the eviction unit got trapped, but the AI sends a fighter unit that can ALSO evict into the same building that is no longer trapped, evicting your resource units. The AI will use assassins before you even know that's a possibility. The game will undo all your moves whenever it can, and somehow in the same turn will win 3 points towards victory. The AI has an advantage at all times, especially if you haven't learned all the games mechanics. Doesn't feel fun by the fourth mission :/

Grabbed it to play with a board-game-loving-uncle so I didn't have to clutter up a table with Settlers of Catan, and it worked as a fun alternative.
