Don't get me wrong! I love Ark: Survival Evolved and enjoy Ark: Survival Ascended when it works, but I've never played a game that crashes as much as this one does. Maybe they should've called it " Crash Ark: Survival Ascended into the rocks below!" All jokes aside I know that this will be a great once they get the bugs worked out.
The graphics (if your computer can handle it) are amazing! It truly feels like a completely new game. You can definitely tell it's still being worked on, but overall I am very happy with my experiences so far.
Crashed 6 times in a row the moment I placed anything in my house on a dedicated server. PC is pretty strong its just an unoptimised mess right now but the quality of life changes over survival evolved are nice
if you enjoy repeating the same grind over and over due to server crashes and roll backs, or perhaps just enjoy sitting at a menu waiting for servers to come back up than this game is for you, if how ever you are a normal person and do no enjoy that, then this probably isn't the game for you.
Ark Survival Decended into your wallet.
I understand that it's in early access and they're working on this and it does look graphically great.
I do not understand how they can drop this game in such a piss poor state, it's like the same struggles we had with the original but much worse, and somehow the server browser is broken this time around to? Every refresh is a new set of servers and you can't find the original server you were just on.
I'm disappointed that they haven't learned from their mistakes from the first time around, check back in a few months or a year and it might be alright.
Everything looks better, although the issue with crashing needs to be looked at, i have a Geforce RTX 3060 and im still crashing on medium graphics settings, other than that the game is great, new map, the added in Unreal Engine 5 and everything makes the game more fun to play (i dont usually leave reviews) but yeah, i reccomend buying it
No, just no. Don't be like me or many many other Ark fans and buy this shit. It feels like WC just copy and pasted the OG code and "updated" the graphics. Don't buy it, it's not worth your time or money, just play ASE it'll feel the same anyways.
I have over 2k hours in original Ark. It is one of my favorite games of all time. I do play a heavily modded singleplayer game, so this review is play-style dependent. Here are me thoughts on why I do not recommend Ascended at this time to people who play as I do:
- it isn't different enough from the original
- there is only one map, the original
- there are few mods, and none of the major ones yet
There is a likelihood I'll change this review as the game develops. But at this time, I wouldn't advise a friend to buy it.
The game looks amazing! Only thing I dont like is how powerful the PC has to be to play it the right way. FPS is pretty low (I get between 20-40 with all settings set to low.) But I can inch along til i get the updated graphics card. Having to host servers only through Nitrado is crappy but the game is still great. BUT I WILL NEVER GET RID OF THE ORIGINAL lol. I love ASE still.
Upgrade your graphic card then, light it on fire and upgrade it again! This game is absolutely BEA..utiful! however it crushes my 3070Ti. With the default graphic setting on medium I was lucky to see 48 FPS. Ive been able to achieve an amazing graphic experience and maintain about 60 fps just by playing with some visual settings. Even though its a copy/paste of old school vanilla ARK its amazing to see what they were able to do with Unreal Engine 5, the graphics are out of this world. Looking forward to seeing what the community does with mods in this one! Everything is going to look so good!
(NOTE: I mainly play on single-player and non-dedicated, so I can't speak for the stability of servers atm. I'm only speaking for the game itself.)
If you enjoyed the original version of Ark, you'll certainly enjoy this version; it's more than just a prettier version of the same. There's lots of QoL updates, building is vastly improved, wild baby dinos are a thing, breeding for mutations is improved, and a bunch of other small changes. Just bear in mind that it's in early access, so it's going to be unstable and you're bound to run into bugs of varying severity that you may or may not need admin cheats to patch up.
tl;dr: It's got early access jank but if you're willing to get past that and you enjoyed ASE, you'll enjoy ASA and its QoL buffs.
This aint it...It runs poorly on anything above a 40 Series GPU it looks horrid on medium settings this is a pretty poor excuse of a remaster when you killed the original just to charge people to buy the game again. Very disappointing...
"We've decided to use the Early Access model for multiple reasons" most of them being that we have no F-ing clue how to finish anything and we don't actually test anything before we release it, that's where you come in. Pay full price to re-test our steaming pile of almost 10yr old crap.
Love the game. Love the community. It is really hard to play the title when it is plagued with with technical difficulties from the hosting provider (Nitrado).
It is one thing to have the game be challenging and you are eaten by any one of the carnivores. You take your lumps and try to play better. It is something else entirely when the server stability is so poor you end up spending much of your evening with server disconnects, game save roll backs, logging in, and find yourself dropped into the ocean or swamp just trying to survive the server crash plus game play.
There are other titles available to play that offer a more stable and more enjoyable experience. I am being forced to spend my time elsewhere.

The best bad game ever got a completely needless graphical update.
As is typical with Wildcard, it barely functions and requires an RTX 6080 Ti to run at a solid 60 fps. Because it's literally the same thing as before, I'll just copy/paste my review for standard Ark here.
"Game is a god awful, sh***y, broken mess. The devs refuse to fix anything. Ever. Sever hosting is a god**mn nightmare. It updates literally every day for no reason whatsoever and the updates take 30 years because the devs seem to barely know what they're doing."
Fun game. 7/10.
DO NOT BUY! There are severe server issues, crashes, rollbacks. You will die from servers crashing, and you WILL lose your gear and tames. Speaking from experience. I get Early Access games, but when the servers can't be up for longer than 2 hours at best, wait to release in EA until you get server stability under control. And this is with multiple patches in the past 2 weeks!
I just wouldn't have released it yet. Too bad SW is publicly traded. That should be the future term to label companies that don't care about their product anymore.
Don't get this game, your computer won't be able to run it. Steam Stats show that maybe 20% of users on steam can run this game over 60fps. It also crashes constantly which will reset your progress if you choose to play single player. Too many bugs to count.
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME.
THE STAFF IS USELESS.
SERVER OUT-TAGE REPORTS ARE USELESS.
THEY SIGNED WITH THE WORSE AND MOST EXPENSIVE COMPANY - NITRADO
THEY THREW A BIRTHDAY PARTY IN DISCORD INSTEAD OF FIXING THEIR SERVERS.
I WAS BANNED FOR BEING "SENTIENT".
In my 100 hours of asa ive seen countless roll backs a lot of cheaters grapples dont work babies disappear turrets wont shoot right if they are placed upside down or sideways people are blocking artifacts and not distributing even though its against tos not only that but we recieved no rates until the second week end not only that but you get random frame drops through out the map
I love ark. I have 400 hours on ASE singleplayer (i dont really do online). I was excited for ASA, but unfortunately my computer, though more than good enough to run all sorts of games, barely runs it. i use settings just low enough that i feel my eye eyesight getting worse when looking at it, and i run it with 10-25 fps on a good day. the new features are obviously woderful to have but whats the reason to buy the revamp if you have to own a NASA worthy computer to enjoy? I really hope that throughout the early access timeline it gets optimised enough for ppl like me to run, but i was hoping for something better from the start.
IF YOURE THINKING OF BUYING:
if your pc specs are not really close to the recommended requirements, your experience probably wont be what you'd hoped. Buying it now and hoping it gets optimised enough to run well (like a lot of us are) is one way to do it, but i'd suggest waiting if you're not 100% sure you want to spend your money.
I can't give this a positive review at this point, given the number of crashes that seems to increase with each "fix" - inventory bugs seem to be the favourite for my singleplayer world. I thought about trying for official or unofficial servers but don't care for the Nitrado network - they too had 8 years to figure out server hosting for ASE and don't seem very good at it. I know why Wildcard did what it did, releasing an extremely buggy game prone to crashing just a few days shy of their Nitrado-owning-the-rights-to-ASE deadline, but that doesn't really make it okay, does it? I also know why I spent money on ASA - to try and curb my Homescapes addiction. If Wildcard releases its DLC's for full price, then it seems I'll have traded one predatory cash shop for another.
More than 20 euros if you want to make a server with 2 of your friend !!!
Why ? Because the developper prefer money than player satisfaction so they set up a partnership with nitrado and take a pourcent of benefits from server location. Result is VERY HIGH PRICE !!!
This os not acceptable. Wildcard become a money making company like every other bad studio.
could be a great game but as a very small group its almost impossible to play this game to do a single thing.whats the point of having small tribe servers when all the servers are filled with tribes teaming or having multiple tribes within one server controlling them. give us some kind of way to report?
I was Hyped for his Game, even though i most likely wont be able to enjoy the beauiful graphics, but i wasnt even able to change my Graphic Settings becuase the Game Crashes even before i get o he Characer Creation point. Incredibly Disappointed with this Mountain of Garbage of a Game they Call it. Besides the Fact that it should have been free in the First Place...
This remastered version of the old game Ark Survival Evolved, is terrible ! All the bugs that have been fixed in the previous Ark, are now back. The recycled official servers can't handle the additional load of UE5 and so they crash like once every hour. After every crash you get a 5-10 minutes rollback. So imagine you just took down a max level T-Rex with nice red and white colors ... and then server goes down, you get rollback, and your nice T-Rex not there anymore.
Maybe someday, this game will be playable, but as it is now ... i do not recommend it, and i feel tricked, like I've been scammed.
This remastered new Ark is in no way better than the last one at this point.
The game overall when running properly is fantastic, that said it is still your typical big launch game in that it constantly freezes up, breaks down, has numerous bugs and fails completely to satisfy but is pretty to look at. So in my ever so humble opinion wait 3 months before purchasing by then hopefully there will be tolerable issues with the game and it will live up to the wildcard hype.
Nostalgia is real! I am running a swift 6800 (16gb vram), 32gb ram, and a Ryzen 7 5800x. Even on ALL low settings and volumetric clouds off my graphics card is 99% utilization in single player. I love Ark and was going to buy it either way but anyone not sure what this is should stay away from this game and company.
SCAM ALERT. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME TILL IT GETS FIXED OR AT LEAST ON A COMPLETE RELEASE YOU WONT BE ABLE TO PLAY...
The very first features that is not very new is that the game is broken it doesnt work and snail games or wildcare is taking our money one more time selling a broken game, nothing works... Gathering, harvesting, hitboxes, buggs when you unmount dinos, server crashes every 2 or 3 hours, you have to try 300 time joining a server cuz an error that says servers full, but no worries is because this update to the previous game is on alpha mode is not in its complete release so some day in the future will work propperly or not... i think i hearded that before... on pve servers you cant even build a base, on pvp servers turrets doesn work so you have to stay connected 24/7... But no worries is on alpha release and when the game gets fixed they will charge you with some extra 60$ cuz you will be getting a better game "finished with some new maps"...
at the moment there are not enough servers. It is very hard to join one and there are virtually no easy starting points at all which makes it very difficult to get started please can you fix this i refer to the island
Now, if the game crashes you canΒ΄t get your body back, and a lot of bugs more and this is unacceptable after this years. The same game and even more bugs. I hope they wake up and start patching the bugs, mesh and textures and hacks. And if they haven't fixed it in all these years, there is no hope now.
This game is crazy fun but also super tough. Dont listen to all the negative reviews the graphics update is well worth it. The few bugs they have are getting fixed rapidly. Lots of quality of life updates compared to Ark Survival evolved.
