A satisfying conclusion to the Telltale Batman series. Previous graphical, sound, animation issues still persist but unlike season 1, your choices in this season make a substantial difference as to how the game and particularly the ending unfolds. Quality script writing and voice acting for all characters involved. Better than the first season by a decent bit.

WOW. I didn't love the first game, but this one blew me away. This game completely exceeded the first. Excellent acting performances, and great writing. The choices i had to make felt impossible on a regular basis, and I was sweating on more than one occasion.

Buyer beware: this is more of a heavily interactable TV show, than a regular video game, but if you are aware of that, it is an easy recommendation.

Enemy Within contiues the story after the first episodes, except here, you really can't keep everyone happy.
A lot of tough choices to maken. The story is very dark.

This game is honestly amazing.
It is one of if not the best titles telltale has put out. I'd argue better than the walking dead.
Batman : the enemy within has a great story. It's honestly worth every penny.

**spoilers ahead**

the fact that when Iman comes to Bruce talking about how he met john doe is honestly where everything really starts. Because following through the episodes you really understand. I'm using john now, then the more episodes you go through the more you really like john and want to be friends with him. So just when the 4th episode is about to end, u have to make a choice of forgiving john for killing a few people (self defense) or leaving him . This game is amazing.

Probably a good game from what I have seen, e.g, it has good voice acting, interesting action and choices and all the things Telltale does so well.

I say “probably” because I am hit by the infamous “open safe” issue (look it up), meaning that despite numerous attempts, I have been unable to advance the story. Effectively, I am stuck - the game provides no extra guidance, and no amount of external written or video advice has been able to help me bypass the issue. Also, Telltale themselves does not seem to respond to the issue.

I do not know what ratio of players are hit by this issue, and some players seem able to get past it through repeated attempts, but simply be aware that this issue exists, and that you might or might not be hit by it as well.
Also, since the issue occurs more than 2 hours into the game (for me at least), getting a Steam refund is not an option.

Since I have to choose a recommendation, I have chosen a negative one. However, I cannot really provide any recommendation on the game at large.

This game offers a fun overall experience with a great story and some fresh takes on established characters in the Batman multiverse. While I recommend playing this game for those who enjoy a good story driven game, it should be noted that there are a couple of glaring issues, namely;

1. Buggy Choices (Endgame): I won't spoil anything but some of the choices I made never actually registered as being made when the game was over, not that it would have done much more than provide novelty and a quick line of text- it did take away from the overall sales pitch of the game for me "The story is tailored to how you play."

2. Low performance optimization: While a major upgrade from the first TT Batman game in the performance department, I would not go as far as to say that this game is anywhere near properly optimized for PC.

Micah

The story slogs at certain points, much of it feeling like filler. When it finally starts to get going, it rushes itself.

NOTE: this is the SECOND game in this series, and I would highly advice you to play the first one ("Batman - the Telltale Series") before you play this one.
As of writing this (July 2022), there are only two games in this series (or two "seasons", as they call it). To my knowledge, no third game/season has been announced.

This story is - in my eyes - even better than the first one. If you enjoy immersive storytelling with great characters, this game is probably gonna be right up your alley. If you're looking for action, however, this game is definitely not for you - it's very slow paced with lots of talking.

It also plays fast and loose with aspects of the Batman mythology. If you're a die-hard continuity fan, you might wanna stay clear of the Batman Telltale games.

I love the art style, animation, and storytelling! This take on Joker is wonderful -- and the dynamic with Harley is interesting. I want a third game where we discover what traumatic event made Joker dissociate or have amnesia, and turn himself in to Arkham. Perhaps it was an accident at a factory that made him insane which led him to make a decision he regretted -- maybe it was something to do with his wife. And if he recovers memories of his wife, I would love to see how that impacts his relationship with Harley. I love the editing and the shots/angles when the Joker laughs. His teeth are great. Initially, my first impression when I saw him was that his proportions were a little more cartoonish than the style of others (who had more realistic proportions, generally), and that worried me. But the combination of an overly wide smile and big baby eyes suited this Joker very well. As I learned more about his personality in this game, I felt his appearance fit in more and more (his standout appearance started to feel more natural in the environment, even when he's shown alongside Batman). I also appreciate the slow, natural, and gradual development of his clownish ensemble. He is extremely lovable and unsettling, simultaneously -- which was absolutely perfect for this game.

I love the comedic timing of many lines, and I appreciate that some serious scenes are interrupted with comic relief (while others are not) without reducing entire characters to being fountains of endless one-liners (I'm looking at you, Hitman's Bodyguard 2. What a terrible sequel).

I think the STEM (engineering/debugging/CS) scenes could be more realistic, though. I mean, are all movie and game writers allergic to talking to any STEM experts (especially in physics/engineering)?

The music in TWAU was great and I would love to see the quality of music continue in Telltale games. Hans Zimmer should do a soundtrack for the next Batman game, should there be another. I would appreciate if the choices could be made with the keypad numbers like in TWAU, too. Using my weird touch-and-drag-only mouse pad thing every time was a hassle.

I do not love the playboy take on Bruce Wayne usually, but it is not overdone here. It is, merely and occasionally, hinted at. I love the 2022 film's take on Batman, and would love to see more emotional development of Bruce Wayne (aside from his parents and love interests) like that, if there was a third game following this one. I would also like to learn more about Alfred and how his loyalty or commitments to the Waynes changed his decisions around pets, romance, or a family (I want to learn about his sacrifices he made in his youth). I would love to see Bruce Wayne as he reflects on his past triumphs and missteps, and how he learns to deal with grief, love, anger, and shame. I personally love a principled Bruce Wayne who is measured and careful, indignant and contemplative about the role of violence in serving justice. I do not care for a reckless, action-packed, or needlessly brutal and cruel Bruce Wayne (read: Nolan's Batman). If he must be brutal, it should have an emotionally compelling reason and be a rare and significant moment (as a part of a defining mistake or lesson, for instance) in his character arc. I felt like there were enough choices in this story for me to make this kind of Batman happen for me. I tried to make a mostly compassionate, and sometimes overly punitive, Batman that satisfied me as a player; and I mostly succeeded.

It was a great game! I loved it.

an entertaining quick time event and choice oriented game, i was never left bored. expect to mess up a few times but its not overly hard. the story and characters for the most part is nice, it has a charming style. Altogether a 4/5 experience, only losing the 5/5 for small petty reasonings.

Such a great game I had fun with the story. Still lots of unanswered questions though and the ending gave opening to an obvious next season hopefully this series can be revisited since TellTale devs have returned to making these types of games.

One thing that bothers me though is why we didn't get a goodbye scene from Selina at the end. I felt like after what happened you'd think she would at least say goodbye for now. Game feels like it was cut abruptly ...

I've been reading Batman comics and watching Batman cartoons and movies since I was a kid in the 90s and this is my favourite version of Joker and Harley Quinn, and one of my favourite versions of Batman. I highly recommend playing this game and keeping Joker as a friend. The vigilante villain is my favorite sidekick in all of Batman canon. Joker's there to make sure that Batman will do what needs to be done, even if he's working with you. Catwoman looks better than ever this season. I'm glad they somehow found a way to make her act against you -- even if she was on your side the entire time. The drama between these two is always interesting to see. I really want to know how all these relationships will change in the future. This series needs to continue on in perpetuity. Give us Season 3!

While the first Batman game had its issues, The Enemy Within makes up for it. I quite like what they did to most of the characters. While it was weird to see Bane with a goatee, it wasn't bad enough to make me hate the character model. If you like Telltale games, get it and play it. It's fun. It's no Arkham, but it's still fun.

An expertly crafted Telltale game and a brilliant Batman story!

Many of the choices carry a great amount of weight to them and many have a very drastic impact on the narrative no matter what your choice is. It's certainly a welcome improvement over the already impressive first season. So if you've played the first season you definitely have to play this.

Good stuff.

With Batman: The Enemy Within, Telltale Games performs no miracles but delivers an epic adventure full of twists and turns, of schemes and colorful characters. The story centered on John Doe and Bruce Wayne (the Joker and Batman) is why you shouldn't miss this one. The rest of the characters and narrative are mediocre, but this interpretation of the clown prince of crime is so strong that it makes it all worth it.
Definitely 9.5/10 for me !!!

I haven't played any batman games before, and this game was a great start. The characters felt so different from how I understood them, and I actually felt the immense pressure of making the right decisions, and regretting when something didn't go my way.

The story and characters are fun to play through, and there are moments that feel like an emotional roller coaster. After playing this I definitely plan on checking out other games in the telltale series.

LISTEN, i cannot express enough how PERFECT this game is. i mostly only played it to get some batjokes content, since ive seen a lot of clips with them together. not only did i get what i came here for, but i also got a huge cast of lovable characters, an emotional attatchment to jim gordon and alfred, an awesome cat gf, and SEXY ASS BRUCE WAYNE. the vigilante joker ending is pretty solid! very emotional and really kinda a plot twist. very much gets you in the feels :( . BUT- my THE VILLIAN JOKER ENDING is the best ending in any telltale game ever. (ive played the walking dead games, just on my xbox, not on steam) THE ENTIRE FUNHOUSE SEQUENCE AT THE END IS... AMAZING... also i love when bruce and joker lay together at the very end. this game has both my favorite joker and my favorite batman. both are sexy asf, same with catwoman too. very fruity game, 9/10.

İlk oyun daha iyiydi, ama bu da efsane ötesi. Tek olay bazı yerlere Batman veya Bruce olarak gitme seçeneği eklememişler ki eklenmesini istediğim ve tavsiye ettiğim yerlerdi. Batman: The Enemy Within is one of the more in-depth Telltale narrative games, in the sense that you can genuinely change huge sections of the story based on your choices. Unfortunately, most of these choices can be seen coming from a mile away and are few and far between. Ultimately, however, if you're a fan of the Batman mythos you will enjoy this game despite the standard Telltale narrative shortcomings. 3/5

This is another great game by the folks of TTG interactivity is limited as ever the art style and voice acting are amazing as per usual. some important notes before starting this great adventure. it is more enjoyable if you played the previous game in the series. the technical performance isn't perfect with some unexplained stuttering and certain scenes not always loading perfectly. these technical issues don't detract from the interesting story, characters and the moral dilemmas that are presented. the relationship between two of the main bad guys is a really fun take since that its different from the way they are usually depicted. I highly recommend this game at full price.

This is my favorite Telltale game series because it took a new direction with its cast of villains.

This explores pretty well how much of a vigilante hero, Batman, has an effect on not only the ones that he cares for, but also the impressionable ones who can become his worst enemies. I love the new dynamic between Harley and John Doe because of how it is a polar opposite of the usual Joker-Harley relationship. Also the Batman-Joker relationship has a much novel twist in how Bruce can make John Doe into his nemesis or his slightly unhinged ally.

Great story-line but depends on our decision, graphics were improved from last time. This game is more about Batman's enemy and how some enemy just doesn't have reason to become bad guy. These game also related with previous batman tel-tale series and that's gave me chill more about this game without forget my decision during previous batman. This game suitable for who want to know more about antagonist on Batman stories. Short game but just enough. Its really good if have future plan to build another tel-tale, maybe about Justice League related. overall, Nice :)

I am rating this game a "Thumbs Down" to counterbalance the many positive reviews declaring this game to be a masterpiece within the Batman universe. If Steam provided a "Mid" option, I would use it.

While The Enemy Within is a step up in storytelling over its Telltale predecessor, it still falls prey to many of the same flaws that ruined the original game for me. But first, let's go over the positives.

This game's runtime is a good couple hours longer than the first one, and the writers this time around use that extra time to excellent effect, fleshing out characters through conversation, allowing time for well-written banter and avoiding the temptation to squish the game down and make every single dialog choice impact another character's relationship with Bruce. Playing through this game reminded me of past Telltale games, where conversations were given room to breathe and characters felt less twitchy about every little thing I said and did. The writers even (to a certain degree) redeemed the first game's "Thomas Wayne is a very bad man" plot point by using it to allow for some genuinely interesting and original developments in this game. Overall, it felt much more natural, which allowed me to actually enjoy playing this game for much of its runtime, as opposed to the previous title in the series.

But as a Batman story, it still falls flat. The game tries to thread a tight middle ground between allowing you to save everyone you want to save (with a few exceptions) and staying true to extended Batman lore. I'm deliberately being cryptic here to avoid spoilers but people who have played this game already will know what and who I'm talking about. The problem is that the choices just aren't quite there. The unbreakable Telltale rule that every choice you make must have difficult consequences works against the game, in that multiple characters make choices in response to you that don't quite add up with either their characters as established by the game, or with the relationship you have with them at that point in the story. Some of these issues are patched up through later dialogue, and were probably caused by the limitations of the Telltale game format (such as Gordon's lashing out on the roof of GCPD headquarters, in spite of my unwavering support for him vs. Waller). However, I'd be willing to look past those for the most part if the other instances were handled properly, like Waller maintaining control of Catwoman even after I agreed to turn in Joker, or the dialogue options in dealing with Joker in Episode 5 not providing any avenue towards reassuring him of my friendship while also pressing him to be truthful with me about the murders he committed. And the number of times the "right" choice wasn't present in the dialog options, apparently in service to the aforementioned Telltale rule, ultimately made me feel that the game was preventing me from making the choices I wanted to make in order to force a conflict that wouldn't have been there if I'd been given the freedom to do things the right way.

Overall, while The Enemy Within is a step in the right direction, dropping most of the trauma porn and taking the time to flesh out its characters in a way its predecessor did not, it unfortunately continues the first game's trend of running roughshod over existing Batman lore in a way that isn't justified by the requirements of its plot or the motivations of its characters. And ultimately, "contrived" is not a word you want to hear in reference to a game whose main selling point is the concept that your choices matter.

Probably one of the best choice dependent games. catwoman is very hot. but i think it would be cool to have different achievements e.g "make john a vigilante" or something

First one was s**t, this one's s**t lite. A bit better, but still a huge disappointment.

I found the first game "Batman - The Telltale Series" to be okay, a decent adventure game but one that felt like a typical tired Telltale game.

The sequel, surprisingly, improved upon the flaws of the first and gave us a game where choices actually mattered for a change. I liked the direction that telltale was going with this game and had hoped they'd continue with a sequel / their other games. Alas, it didn't happen as they went t*ts up and bust.

All in all a good adventure game which improved upon the first. You do not need the first to enjoy this game.
Good writing, as well as good audio, voice artists, and artwork.

Worth a buy at the current price.

Better than the first Telltale Batman game. The Enemy Within is a refreshing take on Gotham's characters.

A direct follow up from Batman: The Telltale Games, Batman: The Enemy Within is about just as long, and just as impactful as the first. With better textures and slightly smoother combat, it'll have you juggle more relationships than it's predecessor and in doing so it'll become difficult to not eventually have a couple of them be flushed down the drain because so many collide with each other.

Great story and gameplay, difficult choices to make! Beautiful graphics and music. Would highly recommend to others and play again to try different choices.

Probably the best choices driven game I've played yet. Story was exceptional. At the start, I would never have guessed that I'd make the choices I would end up making. John is a great character, that whole arc was amazing; I won't spoil it, but the scenes at the end were incredibly memorable. Can't recommend enough!

For someone who loves the DC franchise and likes the Batman-Joker realitonship, also a new variant of Joker appearing here, you'll love this game. This game REALLY makes you pick your choices more careful, because in this context, they matter.

Disclaimer: This is a two-part review, it coincides with both Batman 1 and 2.
Disclaimer 2: If you like tell-tale games and are familiar with them, this review particularly pertains to how Telltale handled this game and the story. If you like telltale games it's typically the variety of choices and narrative itself.

I DO NOT Recommend Batman: The Enemy Within.

Overall, much of the agency that was given to you in the first game is lost here. There are numerous characters and situations that make Batman feel like he's either less powerful or less intuitive than the first game. While I think this can be done well, in comparison for the first game, it feels like my choices don't matter as much because everyone else is telling me what to do and putting me in a box, which is not what I personally enjoy in my Telltale games. I'm not necessarily looking for a power fantasy, but it certainly feels like this game is closer to the Game of Thrones TTG and Not the original Batman TTG, in the sense that this game feels bleak for me which is not necessarily what I associate with personifying batman.

Spoilers Below

Tl;DR - Episode 1 and 4 are solid 8-9/10's while 2 and 3 are 4/10s and episode 5 is a big wash. I still don't know how I feel about it.

The enemies:

Joker - Everything involving the Joker is great. I would say the game is worth playing because of the joker storyline, because it rips your heart out and is also astonishing to see in real time. And playting it just like feels like a batman storyline with the joker in the sense that it feels demented and it is a ton of fun to see unfold. Unfortunately, it feels mired with a lot of other circumstances.

The Pact - Harley Quinn, Iceman, Riddler and Bane. All opf them have their interesting arcs to go through, you get to learn a lot about them and experience their story. As Bruce Wayne. This should feel like Bill Gates interacting with El Chapo and it fucking doesn't. While their individual stories are interesting, they're shunted into this stupid fucking plot that requires Bruce Wayne to go undercover and talk to these people. In no way does it feel like Bruce wayne should be taking on this much risk and yet he does and it gives the whole story a weird weightlessness. Grim situations and tough scenarios feel weird because you don't really belong there.

Waller and the Agency - Personally, the idea of Amanda Waller and the agency as a protagonist is welcome. I thought it was pretty cool and I personally enjoyed the interactions and the back and forth between Waller and Jim Gordon.
Jim Gordon - Unfortunately, jim Gordon is a fucking idiot in this. Gordon typically is strategic and thoughtful with his moves and motives, and instead he gets all fucking pissy when you side with Waller on anything. I personally think an issue is with the framing of this narrative. To me, when I played, the entire story felt like it took maybe 2 weeks. So thinking about a character throwing their job away over some audit that takes less than a month feels stupid. Had the game made more effort to show how truly dire things are for Gordon I think I could have been more sympathetic, but he felt like he was making a bunch of boneheaded decisions.

Tiffany Fox

I think this character emblematically represents our lack of agency in this story as they are depicted as being either a mastermind or someone you are forced to interact with though their presence doesn't feel earned.

Tiffany Fox - Gets a special section. Not quite an enemy, not quite a hero. But the game is going to shove this person down your throat. This person is smarter than Bruce Wayne and Lucius Fox and they just graduated college.

TFox Story: They then get gifted a job at wayne enterprises. Their dad dies and they take a revenge mission. then they get a job at an agency with waller where they become a special agent. This whole thing takes like 2-4 weeks.

This game is pretty good but will never have a sequel to finish the story. In addition to a massive bug making it extremely hard to open the correct safe in chapter 1. Buy this game if you like telltale stuff and play on controller if you only play mouse and keyboard skip it.

Good continuation off the first game; more originality in the character motives and decision making, so forget whatever you remember about the Joker, Amanda Waller, and Harley Quinn. Make decisions about what you see in the game, rather than what you remember. It will end up surprising you, big time.

heart-wrenching, I highly recommend playing the first game beforehand obviously. I love the multiple choices throughout the game and endings. Telltale Studious is back running in business so we are bound to hear more from them! I love the moral choices in Bruce, the twist on Joker and Harley's relationship, and her being the more dominant, (and sadly) abusive one for once, which only makes me love John Doe even more, as I relate to him on a highly personal level. I can't deny that I've sobbed over both sad conclusions to your relationship with John/Joker. I love how the villain route heavily implies that Joker loves you (yes, this has been confirmed by the creators, Devs, AND the voice actor) the characters are very fleshed out, and oh-so likable. 5/5 stars for me! ^^
