DONT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its a Basic RTS. it looks fun, and intriguing, but its gameplay is the same as WC2. it is 15 year old tech.

1/10

This is a fun game. It roughly plays like the Dawn of War games. The game is really cheap, so that's a plus. Give it a try.

Framer

This is a traditional RTS where you collect four resources which you later use to build structures and create army. The strategy is not revolutionary in any way, though you do have some interesting elements such as a secondary quest system and a possibility to travel between maps. The biggest drawback is the graphics. Everything would have been much better if the devs had paid more attention to the engine. If, on the other hand, you're into old school strategies, but don't mind the graphics, give BC Kings a go. :)

bidulless

first of all, graphics are very ugly but despite that , game meccanics and quest are really interresting.
the str part have everything a bigger production own ( units, harversting, upgrades, etc ). there is also a rpg part by the way you can upgrade you main toon trought a shop.
i stll do not have tested the multiplayer part, but i suppose , as the game is quiet old, its dead
this is a game i wanted to test and for the price, you cannot go wrong with it

It's a good relaxing game! Till there...

- The graphics are really OLD.
- The AI is NOT that much when computing next moves in auto.
- Gives the idea of games older than 1998 in overall interface.
- NOT something really fascinating than the Good Story Campaign.(Some people will not like that either)
But the Developer really made a HARD Work in that I have to admit !!!
- It has some new ideas like including other maps in the already playable.

Just relaxing. Nothing MORE... That 's why I bought it!

Its a fun quirky strategy game that is fun to play but I bought the game on sale when it was much cheaper. Definitely do not buy it for full price, compared to other RTS games that are made today it is not as good but it brings some of that old-school RTS feel with it and is good for gamers that remember the challenging mechanics and playstyles of old RTS games. It has an interesting campaign and a fun variety of units but the graphics are dated and the online is all but dead. If its on sale though its not a bad deal.

Despite the dated and simple graphics (and the music tracks not appealing to me), this game turned out to be quite fun to play. Be prepared to restart some stages a few times as it is all too easy to lose a unit that "must" survive to complete a quest.
BC Kings has some really good design innovation elements, but not all of these are flawlessly implemented. If you are looking for a more polished product that has some similar gameplay elements - look at Warcraft, Warcraft II, Warcraft III.
However the setting for BC Kings is quite unique and the whole Neanderthal setting with cavemen and dinosaurs has a certain quirky appeal to it. With a revamp of the artwork and graphics, some voice-overs and a bit of refinement this game would certainly have more appeal and value.
Overall as it stands you get a game that is fun to play, but it is very much a diamond in the rough.

Great game, especially for the low price tag! It gets a little laggy when you start stacking troops. Me and my friend colletively had around 500 troops and several hundred buildings, which caused our games to crash.

Still a great game through that, a lot of replayability!

Alright, it's an ok game. If this game was $10, I would not recommend it, but it's good for it's quite cheap price.

This is the RTS I have been looking for for the past few months. Been dropping money on wannabes until now. This is seriously fun. I can tell just by the tutorial. Though the difficulty on this even on easy will have you sobbing like a little girl. AI Pathing system is slightly flawed. Very intensive micro-managing combat system if you're into that. 3 min Auto save feature built right into the game. Easily 8/10 Highly reccomended (Warcraft RTS clone)

Total crap. I was looking up the Lost World genre when I happened to have stumbled upon this game during a Steam sale, so my interest in a prehistoric type of game was high at the time. I played through the first two maps on campaign and got bored. I would still rather go back to WarCraft 3 than to play though this game. But what can you expect? It was only .99 cents!

Whumbus

Terribad, it is kind of shameful that this game preformed worst than the 1st starcraft. I mean it was made in 2008. So many bugs when playing, The cost may have been $1 but it wasn't even worth that. This is my first review and I am only making it because this game is that bad and i don't want anyone else wasting a dollar. My bad though didn't read the reviews prior to buying it.

Welp. This game was a waste of $0.99... Sat here and tried to play it for 5 minutes... and couldn't even click the continue button after trying to hit it 50 times... Finally got past the first continue and then there was another... After getting through them all, I tried to actually select my characters... Which didn't work... The game has all broken controls and doesn't work... I don't recommend this game what so ever. Don't waste your money on it.

Ooga-booga. This game has good concepts, like side quest missions that take you to different zones, not to mention the war between cave men and mutants.. Hah. I really wish this game had better graphics.

Rated 4/10.

stylez

Fun and unique game for 50 cents... normal price of $5 might be a bit steep considering some of the flaws.

The submap feature adds some depth (literally) to each mission, for example one mission the submap is an underground passage that brings you from outside the enemy's gates into the middle of the enemy's base. Unfortunately in some missions it feels a bit overused, sending you back and forth between maps with no apparent reason other than "it's there, so let's use it"; some of the submaps could have easily been implemented as a single map with some "natural" boundary like a mountain or river and a same-map teleport.

One of the campaign missions constantly crashes, which needs a substantial amount of patience (and liberal use of autosave) to eventually work through in order to continue the campaign progress.

Adding to the patience requirement is the speed of your units vs the size of the map vs the amount of back-and-forth required for some missions; basically, some of the game's mechanics result in artificially inflated playtime. One mission took me nearly 2 hours, simply because my hero unit had to walk from one end to the other of 3 different submaps, 2 to 4 times per map. While another mission has you waiting out the enemy's attacks--even if you've managed to gate off the spawn points with walls and guard towers--for what felt like an eternity (maybe it was only 20-30 minutes), before finally opening up a quest that lets you block the spawn points permanently. That quest itself then involves an extremely slow unit, which you then have to direct to each of the furthest corners of the map before actually completing the mission.

There are a considerable number of glaring typos, which appear inconsistently, in various parts of the game. "Got to map" instead of "Go To", "Ho11y Place" instead of "Ho1y", "Train Scuto Rider" instead of "Scout", and others. And for some awful reason, lowercase "L" is represented by the same character graphic as "1"; this can be seen as ear1y as the profi1e se1ect screen that appears before you can do anything e1se... where the defau1t profi1e name is "P1ayer".

These points aside, it's a pretty interesting theme for an RTS, with a fairly entertaining story; it was engaging enough that I stuck through the campaign to the end. Recommend this game only if it's on sale and only if you are resolved enough to suffer a few crashes.

Got this game on sale for about 50 Cents..... Definitly worth 2 quarters, and though the grapghics arnt amazing, the game runs very smoothly and the mechanics are desgined very well..... I am enjoying this game and purchasing 2 more for my crazy friends to play.

I didn't play for too long, however this game is actually fun. Despite looking like cheesy CGI from way back when, this game has simple mechanics that also take some thinking to work with. There are two Factions humans (cavemen) and Mutants (Nightmare fuel), i recommend the mutants because they look so dumb and are really the reason i love this game, I'm pretty sure that each race has the same units/buildings but are just re-textured. Worth the money.

What a pile of trash, ''Multiplayer'' don't be fooled this is false advertisement. I bought this game on sale thinking it would be a nice fresh RTS subsitute for Age of Empires. Boy did i have a shock when the ''Multiplyer'' is actually ''LOCAL AREA CONNECTION ONLY'' good job this was on sale, not worth 4 quid... probably not even with 80p save your money and buy 4 Freddo choclate bars, you'll be garunteed more satisfaction and quality from the Freddos.. quite frankly even if they melt you've bought your moneys worth. Save your money, buy the Freddos.

Way back in 1997, an extremely well designed RTS game, Age of Empires, blew many players away. Granted the gameplay at the time was similar to the ‘big two’ being Command and Conquer and Warcraft, it stands out due to its storyline as it ties in playing out our history. Personally, I loved it because you get the play out the Stone Age as no other games done this effectively since. Fast forward to 2008, another RTS game arrived where you can play out the Stone Age (with some twists) and filled the landscape with dinosaurs – and who doesn’t like dinosaurs? This game, BC Kings, whilst kept on the traditional RTS formula (explore / build / conquer), it added some RPG elements and encourages exploration as well. A decent game considering it’s an indie title however I wished there were more dinosaurs to play with.

Overall, the game was a blast to play from start to finish with some twists and turns along the way. Yes it does feel like a rip-off from Age of Empires however it’s obvious that there’s a lot of love and care poured into this game. The UI is nicely designed with beautiful pictures that resembles cavemen paintings splashed throughout is an example of devotion. However I praise the developers for trying out something new to the ever-so overused RTS formula where it encourages you to explore, have multiple maps, a spray of RPG and even has a third person view option (well…one mission has this). Some of these innovations plays well and others not so however that’s not to discredited their efforts. It’s a light hearted RTS that’s very enjoyable to play until the very end. Let’s put it this way, when I think of that title, it places a smile in my face and that’s a good thing.

8 / 10

I can't enjoy this game. Map is too loose with multiple paths that either loops around or lead to dead ends. The construction is very bad and there is a lack of grouping well. If you want a better game, try to find the Fate of Hellas. That was a really good game, very concise and tutorial made for dummies.

An ok RTS, it's like a scaled down and cheaper version of WC3. Has good gameplay, ok story, and simple controls. Only downside is the camera, frame rate drops if you zoom out any and it will freeze on occasion. Definately get when on sale.

So cheap, so fun, so traditionally RTS/Strategy. But with slight twists, like multiple maps. It's really fun game for how cheap it is, really worth the investment! You'll get a lot of fun out of it, plus a good challenge.
It's extremely traditional though, which is what I liked about it.
I'd whine about the dated graphics, but hell, I still love to load up Age of Empires and have a damn good thwarting, so it doesn't bother me at all!
The units are what you'd expect, which is helpful. The story and the humour is quite good.
Overall, it's totally worth more than what you're going to pay for it, and you're going to have a great time.

This game seemed so attractive! Warcraft III in a prehistoric setting! What a dream!

(I sincerely think all of it.)

And yet, it is unplayable, ugly beyond your imagination, and intolerably buggy. I spent twenty minutes on it without being able of reaching the camp in the first tutorial mission, as nothing was working properly.

A good flavor of this technical mess is that you have to choose the language game every time you start it between English or Russian... But if you inadvertently click during the time the menu loads, then your click counts as selecting Russian and you have to start the game again.

Also, it doesn't quit properly. With Windows, you have to end the process by Ctrl+Alt+Del, otherwise it will be still running.

As for the game per se, the mouse doesn't always respond and everything freezes every ten seconds.

What a pity.

Finished it today. Game is fine for it's price and it does offer a lot. I had paid only close to 50cents and already got more out of it. It feels and plays like warcraft 3 but let's say without any voice acting. To understand the story all you gotta do is just read, read and read. I am okay with the reading part but if you're someone who doesn't like to read and find it annoying then you might not like it. Graphically game feels dated but its okay as long as it is able to entertain you. The game has some humour into it and does the does nicely or I should rather say cutely which is good enough to bring atleast a smile on your face. It does offer multiplayer option but I haven't tried it. If you're a fan of warcraft like games then you can buy this game and it will not disappoint you. If possible get it on sale, the game is still fun especially for RTS Lovers.

Edit: I didn't encounter any bugs except just one while trying to play a random match. If you add more than 2 match participants(In Random mode) then it's likely to freeze on loading screen besides that in approx. 26+ hours I didn't encounter any bug or whatsoever. Game is very stable.

It is a good game, I get it for £0.69 but even £5 up to £10 is ok for this. It was developped by a very small team. The programmer and one of two 3D designer is the same guy. It look like a game that have been made in familly. Some good ideas, some bugs as well (I cannot see the cursor on spell casting). You cannot compare this game with warcraft III, that is not the same budget and not the same team. For the price go for it, no matter if you do not like it, the price is so low that you will not lost a lot of money.

One rare STR based on prehistoric age.

This game was clearly inspired by Warcraft 3. The game mechanisms and graphik style is similar, although both are somehow worse than the much older W3. The setting is interesting and kinda unique and I can image it would have been fun for a few hours in 2005. However, nowadays I can hardly see a reason to play BC Kings.

Ah, BC Kings... Such a weird title. But not because it's a weird game, or something. It totally isn't. It's pretty generic one, actually. It's just the whole idea is pretty much crazy. The whole story of this game is that one guy really wanted to make his own WarCraft. Or Age of Empires, since this game may look like both of them at the same time. Anyway, that's why BC Kings is so strange. It's pretty much a story about Marcell Baranyai making his own old school RTS in late 2000s.

What's so weird about it? Well... think about it. RTS isn't an easy thing to make. It's not like one of those Hidden Objects games, or something like that. Not one of those types of games that you can mass produce without putting too much effort into it. You need to make a proper AI, you need to make interesting missions, you need to balance things out... It's a pretty complicated process, really. And here we have one person doing all of it. Man, Mr. Baranyai even did part of 3D graphics and voiced all of the characters! How cool is that? The guy literally made most of the stuff all alone here! You may expect him and his game to suck, thanks to that, but the funnies thing is – BC Kings is actually pretty cool. No, really, screenshots may look poor, but it's actually a pretty solid RTS title. If you like the genre and have nothing new to play on your radar, you should probably check this one out. It has everything that you enjoy in such games and all that actually works. Which is a huge success for one person.

The problem is, as you may guess, this game can't really compete. Even with much older titles that actually had more people and bigger budget behind them. Any years old RTS can easily destroy this one. Not because this one is bad. But because... it has nothing special about it. It's just your generic something without its own face. It copies every single aspect of the big games like WarCraft, or Age of Empires series and doesn't really add anything new to the formula. Aside from prehistorical setting that is. Which also doesn't feel that good thanks to a lot of really stupid humor (aliens and “I'm your father” jokes included). So... why? Why trying to make something that was already made in a much better way? I guess it's just because Marcell Baranyai just wanted to make something like that. Like he played all those awesome games from the past and wanted to make his own. But... even though technically he succeed, BC Kings isn't something you recommend to everybody. It's a very niche product for hardcore RTS players, who already played every other RTS out there and still want something they didn't play before.

For many people this title may deserve a downvote. It looks dated, it feels dated, it has literally nothing new in it, it comes with a lot of copy / pasted concepts from the popular RTS titles (at some points it feels exactly like poor man's WarCraft III), while story is just stupid and not really fun. So... yeah, I can see the reason for all those negative reviews. In their own way they're actually right. And still, I don't want to give this game a negative review. Not only because it's a big success for its maker, who put a lot of hard work into it. But because it actually works pretty well. If you don't mind dated graphics, generic gameplay and poor humor, you totally can enjoy it for what it is. Like you can enjoy cheap bubble gum. You won't want to chew it for long and you certainly won't want to return to it, but... it won't hurt you to enjoy it for some time. If you're an old school RTS fan with a free weekend... It may actually be pretty enjoyable experience. Technically, it is a poor man's WarCraft III, but... who said it can't be enjoyable at all? The price is just right after all.

This game is one of my favorite rts type games next to starcraft and star wars galactic battlegrounds. The music is spot on, it fits the whole Bc times era gameplay! You can play the longish campaign, play against the computer, or play multiplayer which has you versing other online players or nearby friends of your's. Although multiplayer is kinda dead and you can't really play against more than one computer at a time, the game still holds up as a fun gameplay experience in my opinion.
