NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY. I got this so that me and my disabled mother could play. This game, I believe, could have been unique (I'm a sucker for anything sci-fi industrial or time-travel related)... but much to my disappointment and high expectations of a mind-puzzling creativity, the F BOMB was used... It became tainted. Something we looked forward to playing each night when I would come in from work became like a sour taste. I was and am utterly disgusted. It is sad that while the minds that put this game together were deep enough to create the levels, they couldn't grasp a realty where a story can be told without a single F word. It is for that reason that I am not able to recommend. Mc2games, you could have done better... just with the exclusion of one word that for me makes or breaks a game.

It had good graphics and resembled real life escape room to a point and the puzzle difficulty level as well

I love a good escape room, but these puzzles are way too cryptic. Finally finished it and the ending is weak :-(

Overall Thoughts: i really enjoy the escape room games. some of the puzzles are really obscure but its a good challenge. the graphics are pretty good and the interactions are fluid. overall i enjoyed the whole series and ill probably buy any other one that comes out in the future. if you like puzzles i highly recommend this for abit of a time waster

When you get the way of the odd way the puzzles work, it's very good.
Sometimes you need a hint, the hints for me anyway seem to say you're on the right or wrong track.
and sometimes the puzzles go off on a real weird tangent so might be worth checking out.
good i thought, needed lost of pen and paper!

I kinda liked the puzzles, they were well thought out. It just wasn't worth the price they are asking. Wait for the sales.

I played this with friends. It was super fun. There were a couple of puzzles that were hard but most were just right. We liked it enough that I bought three more escape room games by mc2games. We're looking forward to trying one of them out during our next game night.

Polished and well-executed escape room game.

There won't be much replayability, but the puzzles are the right balance between tricky and cryptic.

Really enjoyed this escape room. A couple of the puzzles have more than one solution which is not optimal in an escape game but on the whole it was really really well executed. Some puzzles seem a bit obscure and could have benefited from clearer clues along the way but I muddled through and spent 8 happy hours keeping my brain cells exercised. The graphics are superb and frankly rather beautifully drawn. I did find the mouse and wasd directions a bit clumsy at first but after a while it was second nature.
If you are a puzzle adventurer like me then get this and its predecessors and settle down to at least 2 full days of utter bliss.

Had fun with this game. It is a little short, but the puzzles are good. The story is also short, to go along with the length of the game. The game is mostly focused on the puzzle-solving, which is done fairly well. I will say that some of them did stump me at first (so the difficulty is there, but not unfair). I eventually figured them out. It was satisfying whenever I found the solutions. It didn't feel as though the solution was that far out of the way. If you like puzzles, I do recommend the game.

I just love this games, they easy games that challenge you with puzzles that have a varying degree of difficulty. I stepped onto the first game, Palyndrome syndrome, some months ago by pure luck and since them I've been buying each new escape room.

This one is really colorful compared to its predecessors and you can feel how the game has improved since its prior versions.

I recommend this game for anyone who has a good time resolving mind-challenging puzzles instead of the typical hack'n'slash.

Kind regards.

The best escape room i've ever played, no less no more. i played last 2 games from this indie company and there were awesome, but this one.. they got a new level of quality and complexity.
I play with my girlfriend, she is not a gamer, but this is a game that everyone can enjoy, and ideal for spending some time gaming with a friend, BF/GF or just by yourself.
It's not an easy game, it has several puzzles that got us stuck for several minutes, but it feels rewarding when you finally get it.
Will you dare to escape?

I played the first game and liked it so I was looking forward playing Between Time.
It's literally like going to a real escape room, all the puzzles feel like you could find them in a phyical escape room and not like in a virtual game.

The game is single player but I recommend playing with your partner or friends as it's really fun to solve fun with more people.

I hope they keep making this games!

It plays as you would expect from a game which includes "Escape room" in its name: get yourself out of a room by solving puzzles. If that sounds great, imagine repeating that experience through different points in time.
Some of them gave me a hard time and forced me to think out of the box, but even the hard ones were logic. It was overall a pleasing experience.

While solving puzzles in different environments might sound intimidating, most of those puzzles include a help button so even if you get stuck you don't have to drop the game, I really appreciate that.

I can't stop recommending this escape room! The maps are super successful, each one with a different theme (I loved the alchemy lab). The puzzles are affordable and entertaining, although I used a few clues ;D. Better than a real escape room!

After playing the other 2 games of this developer I have to say that they improved a lot of things. I liked the puzzles, being even more imaginative than the last ones. They included multiple environments, making the game diverse in their themes and puzzles. And talking about the duration of the game, it took me even more time to finish than the last ones. So if you liked the other games, this is a must buy. And if it's your first time you see this developer, I recommend you to try it for sure.

alphaomega_92
alphaomega_92

I have not finished the game, so I will change my review if needed.
But for now I'm liking it. The game consists of a lot of short puzzles (patterns, logic, maths...). I'm currently in the third room, and it's cool that they have different types of puzzles (the second room was like an ancient temple and any puzzle had words, for example, I suppose that was intended).

You will love this if you like solving pattern and environment based puzzles (it's literally like going to an escape room).

A relaxing travel through time while you solve puzzles.

POSITIVE:
+Challenging puzzles, but most of them made sense
+Hint system
+Runs smoothy in my old laptop
+Graphics are good

NEGATIVE:
-The main point of the game is solving puzzles, the story is secondary
-Sometimes controls are clunky

Not as difficult as their previous game, Tested on Humans.None the less, It was fun. Definitely worth the purchase and if you haven't played the other 2 games (unrelated story wise) you should get them as well. Puzzles are great. I hope mc2games keeps making these so i can keep buying them.

I have lost count of how many escape room games I have played by now, but I know for sure that I cannot recommend this one.

Great graphics and scenarios, but that's all. There are puzzles that don't have sense or cannot be solved because there are not enough clues, so there can be more than one solution (I have found this problem with at least two puzzles). The poor and ridiculous plot is not interested from the very beginning, so you are a little out from the game all the time.

Besides some puzzles are harder than it should because the great majority of the items are on the wrong scale. When you grab an item it is bigger than it should, sometimes covering half of the puzzle you are solving, so placing the item in a specific and tiny place sometimes becomes a 'trial and error' game because you cannot see where the place is.

It's just a compilation of bad puzzles with nice graphics and a really bad interface. Not worthy even on sale.

An enjoyable little diversion...much like the previous games they've released but a little more polished I think. Have to admit there was one puzzle that makes absolutely no sense to me (the alchemy puzzle with the triangles) but the rest were pretty understandable.

CJMAXiK
CJMAXiK

- Puzzles are not that logical (some can be even solved by brute-forcing pretty easily), but they do have that satisfaction factor to them.
- Story is here just for a piece in the game description, voice acting is a lot to be desired.
- 3 games in a series and they still have a smooth mouse movement like on a gamepad, which is absolutely awful.

Overall, it is worth the money, because it is cheap enough to justify those points above.

Killer Queen 65

Some of the puzzles were really good but some were obscure and the hints were not always helpful, Overall not a bad game but could have been better, a wasted opportunity to be a really good game.

I love puzzle games. While I would recommend this, I had some problems understanding what some of the puzzle goals were. I had to look at the Guide in the Mayan room for one solution and even after seeing the solution I still have no idea how I was supposed to get to that answer. All in all it was fun and I got it on discount.

Droiagon
Droiagon

I just played through the whole trilogy and this is by far the worst and cringiest game out of the three.

The puzzles are as usual hit or miss in terms of quality, though this time there were quite a few more wtf moments... Then add to that a story that makes no sense, bad writing and voice acting. At least in the previous games there was minimal acting and the story was a mystery.

I can't recommend this one, especially not for the price for ~3 hours.

CindyK_JA
CindyK_JA

Between Time is third game from mc2games and, in my opinion, it is their best release to date. I enjoyed both previous titles (Palindrome Syndrome and Tested On Humans) which had well thought out puzzles but could be a bit confusing at times.

In Between Time, the interface has been slightly tweaked and seemed more intuitive. The development team has done a great job providing visual clues on related puzzles and there is a gentle hint system if you are stuck. They also posted a full solution guide which I only referred to once. This game has a time travel theme so it is played in five distinct environments, each with a new set of diverse puzzles. Most are easily solved if you are paying attention, as clues tend to be in plain sight.

Achievements are story based and completing the game results in 100%. I spent about 6 hours working through the past, the present, and the future and I was sorry to see the game end.

I recommend this to those who enjoy puzzles with a basic story thread and a surprise ending. It is one of the better 'Escape the Room' games I've played in awhile.

countryshack
countryshack

The graphics, atmosphere, sound, and movement are just flawless.
The game is Wonderful in the sense that it is basically just a whole lot of puzzles to solve without running around an endless open environment. You aren't guided from puzzle to puzzle BUT, when you solve one AREA of puzzles, you move onto the next section. (No need to go back and forth etc. etc.)
That said: Be ready for SOME VERY HARD PUZZLES. Most of the puzzles make perfect logical sense but some are SO off the wall, I believe many will have to go to a guide at times.
Example: Let's say that I give you this string of numbers... 3,7,4,8,2,2,9,6,2,1,1,9,7=? However, I don't give you ANY hint as to any formula. (That, to me, is not a fun solver at all because it is SUCH A STRETCH, a person could spend AGES just trying to figure out what the developer had in mind.)
Do you add the first three? Divide the added 3 by the 6th number, etc. etc.

Pro-Zak
Pro-Zak

Really good addition to their other puzzle/escape games. Many of the puzzles were something I've never seen before, and it was super enjoyable to figure out something from scratch instead of dredging up a memory of how a similar puzzle works. That, however, made me a bit overconfident, and I ended up overthinking a few puzzles instead of solving the intended solutions.

Fresh Heir
Fresh Heir

Really enjoyed this puzzle game! Interesting and engaging puzzles that have you playing through situations in your mind trying to decipher the right actions. The hints are NOT required as I saw in some reviews. They are good for some guidance if you do find yourself stuck however. No information that a player would have to have outside knowledge to complete, except for fundamental math. Not plot heavy, this game is what you play if you want to do some video game puzzles. The plot just creates a reason for environment changes, which are all fun to explore individually as well.

Solid and logical puzzles. Only in the last room one puzzle felt like it could use an additional hint. Maybe I've overlooked it.
However, I had a great time playing this game and will surely get the two other escape rooms from the devs, too.

Of course, loved the new game from this developer. Wish it was longer than 3 hours though! They literally have the best style of "escape room" games. The puzzles are challenging without being impossible, and it all flows together really perfectly in every game. If you like this one, check out their other 2: Palindrome Syndrome and Tested on Humans!

Playing thru with the wife working together on the puzzles. We are enjoying it so far. Great for a date night! We will check out the rest of the series when we are done this one.

**UPDATE:** Just finished it. Ending could have been better story-wise. Good value for the price but- the random and completely unnecessary F-bomb makes me not want to play it with my kids. :(

Cool game, recommend for anyone into point and click games and/or escape room (real life or otherwise lol)

Great;
- nice graphics
- some fun puzzles
- nice sense of achievement when you figure something out
- some nice hard puzzles too made me think real hard for some of them
- cool hint system that did not give too much away for the solution
- some nice puzzle variety

Not so great:
- not amazing voice acting
- character(s) were 1 dimentional and didn't get to know them at all
- weird plot that made little sense
- game was at most about 3.5 hours long (and i got stuck on a lot of puzzles)
- a LOT of maths puzzles (if you're into maths then you'd probably like this!)
- could have had way more varieties of puzzles and not just letter or number based ones

overall, i would say wait for a sale,
but, this was a pretty fun game and when i figured out what the puzzle was or the solution is, it really felt nice! the walking speed is somewhat slow i did notice as well but i would say pick up if you're into the point and click genre or even played the room games and wanted something that was a bit more challenging in terms of puzzle-figuring-out-ed-ness !

breuklyn

really love the fun and challenging puzzles. not TOO frustrating.

I find the clues are really well done. Some other puzzle games might just not tell you anything at all to make it "challenging". Really that's poor design and frustrating to the player.

This game however is really fun with interesting locales.

Cpt Casanova

Poor quality, Incredibly cheap, The puzzles are poorly made, Clunky and poor animations, Whole game is completed in less than 2 hours total easily with literally only 4 small escape rooms, Horrible story line, Cheap and silly voice acting. Trust me just go play The Room or ANY of the Myst games. This game was NOT worth it.

I do recommend this game, but with some strong reservations. There is no real story line, and I would not recommend this game if you prefer a clear explanation as to why you are solving the puzzles. You are dumped into the game with no introduction or explanation, and it ends just as abruptly as it begins. The game itself is enjoyable however, with varied puzzles and some fun mechanics.

MrSp00kz
MrSp00kz

Finished the game in 4.5 hrs and it isn't a bad puzzle game. The puzzles in general are quite challenging but that's what a puzzle game is. Is it recommendable to others? maybe. Should you buy the game at full price? depends.

I would give this game a 7 because how short it was and how the story was.

Madame Bébé™
Madame Bébé™

My favourite of the escape rooms from mc2games so far. I really liked the first one they made (Palindrome Syndrome), the second one (Tested on Humans) was sort of a miss for me but this one sticks out. There's a great variety of new puzzles, some are a bit over the top or confusing but in general I had a really great time. It's recommended to keep a pen and piece of paper next to you because for some puzzles you'll need to remember complex/long sequences, directions certain things are pointing, colours matching objects etc. and it avoids the need to walk up and down the area to get the information you need.

The title of the game hints at time travel and there's a few eras you travel to and have to solve puzzles that are very well themed for each period of time you travel to. The ending was a bit abrupt but a bit expected.

Completed the game in about 4 hours and it enjoyed every minute of it. I'm looking forward to more releases of mc2games in the future!
If you enjoy virtual escape rooms this one is a big recommendation from me.

I was pleasantly surprised by this game! Being a big escape room nerd myself (and having worked in one as well), I gotta say that what this game offers is very on-par with what you'd find in an actual escape room, except this game is like 5 escape rooms in one!

Definitely recommended. The puzzles are varied and generally pretty smart, plus the experience itself feels very polished and real to what you'd actually get in a physical escape room. Worth a try if you like puzzles and/or escape rooms at all

As these games go, it's not too bad
But every once in a while it drove me mad

But I managed to stick with it, took some help now and then
But It'll be quite some time before I play it again.

Pros:
I thought there was a pretty good mix of puzzle difficulties (for me, who is not the sharpest knife in the puzzle drawer). The in-game hint system was helpful but not too helpful if you get my meaning. Another pro was that you did not have to travel great distances to solve the puzzles; I dislike having to go back-and-forth over terrain to get what is need for a solution.
I am not overly concerned with story in a puzzle game, and this one had a minimalist plot, although with a twist at the end.

Cons:
The only thing I wish was different was the ability to run the game in "windowed" mode. The way it is now you have to go through a bunch of clicks to save & quit the game in order to look at the more informative hints on the Steam game page.

Cool escape room game. 5 levels. Easy to moderate difficulty. It's helpful to have a pencil and paper out to take some notes.

These puzzles require attention to detail, and sometimes a bit of lateral thinking. Some players will interpret this as underhinting, but I thought each puzzle was fair and a lot of fun.

There's a neat easter egg on Level 3 if any of you happen to remember that old Indiana Jones decoder card they handed out at the CA Disneyland ride back when it opened in 1995.

JarrettKills

I would recommend this game because its a really good looking escape room game, the time travel theme is just like how they do it at 5Wits and its pretty cool. I would recommend this to people but there was this one puzzle where you needed to do 1/2 half of an ingredient and for how many times i tried i just couldn't get it to work, there isn't even an option in the game to have a 1/2 of something! That is just bad game design.

To be honest, if Steam allowed it, I'd leave a mixed review for this one. I didn't enjoy this game as much as Mc2games' previous installments in their Escape Room series. I didn't really care of the story (you're a thief who's hijacked a time machine to steal treasures in various time-periods, all of which are guided by a series of improbably convoluted puzzles) as much as their previous games. I'm not sure, but it also felt shorter. The puzzles are pretty tricky at times. There's far less in the way of textual clues in this game than the previous ones, they rely on your ability to make observations, identify relationships, and draw conclusions with very little in the way of explanation. Which can be a problem, as some of the puzzles can be very obscure about what you have to do. The puzzles do have an option for giving you a hint, but even these are often somewhat opaque. I actually had to look up an answer to one of the puzzles on the internet.

That being said, the game does offer some satisfying brain teasers. Like the other Escape Room games, I got this one one sale, and I would recommend others to do the same, as the game is pretty short, and ten bucks or so is not too much to pay for a few hours' worth of entertainment.

I'm a fan of escape rooms and puzzle games so I really wanted to like this game. However, I found a lot of the puzzles to be obtuse and hard to figure out what the goal even is while other puzzles were too easy. It's a difficult balance to get right and I think this game is a little off. There is a hint system but not every puzzle has one and sometimes the hints aren't that helpful. I think it would be nice to have multiple levels of hints on a timed system similar to how The Room handles it.

What I do like is the time travel theme and the pretty environments. The story is pretty lacking but if the puzzles were good it would make up for it.

Super Sherby
Super Sherby

Compared to other escape room puzzle games that I've played (not allowed to name any titles to compare to) this Escape Room (Between time) Puzzle game was quite lame.
The puzzles were ok, I guess..

But it was the lack of feedback that got me frustrated from time to time. (no pun intented)
I mean, for example, when I enter a passcode in a terminal, or just pressing a button, it would have been great if there was ANY feedback (AT ALL) Instead of nothing, it made me wonder many times ''Did I actually give an input here?".

The graphics were also kinda 'meh'
I mean, I know, this is an indie game and I should not expect crazy detailed stuff here, but still.. this game looked like it was made in 2012, forgotten forever and suddently derived for who knows what reason.

I bought this game on sale, mind you. And I love puzzle games, especially escape rooms, but I just cannot recommend this one to people who like the same type of games.

steve

Very clever escape puzzler. Very slight complaint about the single-frame animations used for a lot of the puzzle mechanics. Dev clearly knows how to do real 3D animation, so skipping it when you throw a switch or turn a dial is a bit distracting from the rest of the good play experience. Definitely recommended.

Graydient05

Zaxwerks
Zaxwerks

A fan of their previous games giving them both glowing reviews, but this one is just OK. The solutions to a few of the puzzles are too obscure to make it enjoyable. If you're red/green colourblind then it's an absolutely nightmare, however "luckily" there is an online guide where you can cheat and find the solutions but that takes the enjoyment out of it. Lastly it's got a maze (which is vile).

bigger and better than the previous two; took me nearly twice as long to beat.

after the last game i said it felt like a subscription service; the second game being more of the same good puzzles with a wonky story tying them together and a janky engine running everything

and yeah, the engine is still kinda janky (forced low fov + forced mouse smoothing = headache), the story is still really nonsense, but the puzzles continue to get better, which for a puzzle game is really all you need.

i'm looking forward to more from this developer.

It was a fun game, i finished in 7 hours. The only negative thing i have to say is that a lot of the clues they give you are either too vague and don't help at all or it was something i'd easily figured out already. I had to ''cheat'' and check the walkthrough because the clue didn't help at all. I did love that the walkthrough gave you more hints without showing you the answer unless you put your cursor directly on it, most times i was able to figure it out without actually looking at the answer.

not a bad game actually, most of the puzzles were kind of interesting -
but the "story" is not well told and one of the puzzles in the alchemy lab just did not seem to work at all, i had no progress after following the instructions exactly - even a walkthrough site could not help. had to skip the remaining two or three puzzles there by just using the code for the main objective chest...

Ha! Just finished Between Time and I loved it (especially the ending)! The puzzles, the voice acting and the different places were all great! I stumbled once, but it was my fault. Something got my attention just as I solved the alpha, beta, gamma engine puzzle and I missed what it opened. It took me looking around to find out what it was lol. Do yourself a favor and pay attention the moment you solve something ha ha. Great game devs!

Of the 4 (so far) mc2games Escape Rooms, this one has the most, and in my opinion best, puzzle meat. It also by nature of its time travel gimmick gets to throw a lot of DIFFERENT environments at you, but then again, that also means each escape room feels self contained and the whole experience is a bit more disjointed then the others. It also means that the escape rooms do feel like standard "escape rooms" instead of environments that also JUST HAPPEN to have puzzles in them... why is an ancient tomb wall also a lights out puzzle? Or why is the lock in this old timey saloon related to the scattered poker game? Minor nitpicks if all you care about is a good ol brain teaser session, which is really what I care about most.
