The gameplay idea is fine and story premise is somehow interesting, but otherwise this game is too rough/unpolished. Bare minimum tutorial, objective/goal isn't clear enough, awkward control and poor UI/UX (which you already know from screenshot/video). Few player who're into retro/difficult game might enjoy this game, but most people should stay away from this game.

Few review mention ban/censor, so i decide to perform quick research. After looking at archive of community page it's true the developer/publisher perform some censorship. You can verify it by visiting these archived pages and compare with current condition.

OP enemies and it's easy to die quickly.
There's a big manual at the start menu where you can see all the controls and read about drones, which takes a lota time to understand. The game itself should explain the controls and other mechanics step by step, as we complete each level, that's what I would like to see in a game. But Biodrone Battle is worth killing some time and farm trading cards!

Frustrating controls and for graphics this simple, I assumed it would run better on my computer. I may change my opinion if it gets better, but I can't recommend at this point.

I like games with a retro feeling, though I do not play originals because I think they were great at their time but fall back compared with modern retro games. Biodrone Battle took my interest because Paradroid was one of my favorite games and I think this is a nice remake. It it faster, got more action (as far as I remember) but also has its moments of tension when you got chased by a droid, escape into another room, hide and watch your confused haunter. Graphics is somewhat basic or retro-like but lights and explosions give a tense ambience.

There are too many buttons, and they are just spit in our faces, instead of slowly being introduced to the player. The objectives aren't clear enough.
The game crashes constantly, and the controls do not seem to work all the time.

I have been playing this game for the last hour after purchasing it on sale at a silly cheap price.

I read the other reviews before purchasing, they are currently few and mixed. Somebody mentioned that it has too many keys, it doesn't have many at all, and you can view them at any time by clicking the question mark at the bottom.

The AI is different, but not in a bad way, the drones hide, pop out to attack, run away etc. I think it works well for the type of game.

The mentioned issue with the level not auto restarting, not sure if this has changed, but it sends you straight back to the level select screen, at which point you are one click from restarting the level, or choosing a different one if you desire, seems fine to me.

Difficulty may be an issue for some, I'm an old school gamer who misses the days when games actually provided a challenge, and this does. The game is well balanced though, stick with it and I'm sure you will get the hang of it, just requires learning a few simply techniques, after which the game takes on a whole new lease of life, fantastic!

I cannot recommend this game more, think Paradroid 90 with a dark atmosphere, and without the takeover minigame. Graphics and audio are perfect for the type of game.

This dev deserves a lot of credit for the game, I'm so glad I found it ! If it is your thing then buy it, enjoy it, and please give positive reviews if you do. It annoys me that four out of the eight reviews I can see are not recommending this game, half of them, WHAT !!!!

Annoyingly difficult! The player's drone is much too vulnerable, and/or the weapons of the enemies are too strong. In the current sale, the slogan could be "Get angry for 24 cents!"

The game constantly jammed , and controls do not seem to work all the time .

No doubt in my opinion is a game that does not return to play!

The game is kinda bad. It is hard to understand what really to do, it is not very well specified, and you may die to quick in this game. When you're trying to morph, it is also hard to get what you need to do. The soundtrack is good, though, but you don't really buy a game for its soundtracks. Nothing in this game seems really that great, so you should probably avoid it, although it is not horrible.

There are several reasons why this type of games are so cheap, one of them being that it gets boring after 2 minutes.

This game is a bit unusual and is not that fun, but considering it was worth cents and comes with steam cards, I would have to say, get it!

Simple but decent idea, however the game requires super human reflexes. The second you see a single pixel of the enemy they are already moving and shooting at you. Restarting a level is clunky and takes to long.

One of the better top down perspective games. Not bad when you buy on sale.

Plough around levels and eliminate enemy robots. Kill them before they kill you, or morph into them before they kill you. That's it really. It looks the part and sounds nice, however the difficulty has been cranked up to 11 which destroys any desire to persist with what is already a rather dull game.

- AI of enemy is not even close to what you would call "fair". Just absurdly cheating difficult. To the point that it's unplayable. The milisecond you are in AI's firing range - they shoot at you. And I personally encountered 2 enemy types that 1-hit kill you - it wasn't fun.
- A lot of things that should make sense but don't:

    • As F-1 "Fighter" unit you can teleport by pressing space... WHERE TO? No clue. It just teleports me randomly. And to beging with - WHY would you want to teleport? There is no advantage to it whatsoever.
    • "You can morph into enemy..." no, you can't. Why? No clue. My blue "morphing sphere" just gets deflected and blue morphing laser at close range just doesn't show up. There goes my last chance to survive.

After dying for 60 minutes straight on each level - I just gave up.

I got lured by the 0,24€ price tag (game was on sale), but the game is just worth 0€ at this point. Simply because it's unplayable. You have been warned.
I wonder if the dev even play tested his own damn game. Come on.

Hey everyone and this is my review about the game!

This is a bad game.

Interface/Menu/Settings

You can play on fullscreen or windowed mode.

About the game.

Well first thing first. It was really annoying to make a review from the game as the game will crash or "freeze" whenever you are going to alt-tab out of the game. I had to re-do this review 2 times now. Anyway. You are playing with some squary looking thing. You are able to shoot and kill enemies. But no worries though, if your standing on a location and you are not moving around or enemies are not shooting at you. Your health will slowly drain from 100% to 9%. But no worries about your health too much, you will die regardless as Enemies will literally hump and clings at you, so escaping will never be an option.

Bad game. You don't have to know more.

Other things.

Alt-Tab crash the game! WOOO!! and you can't alt tab too or click on the game as the task bar. You are forced to use CTRL ALT DELETE to close the game. (bdb.exe)

I Give this game a 1/10

TLDR : Cheap Tuesdays, Bundle-Galore, Botline Miami wanna-be with cheap control scheme and user interface, and somewhat broken firing and stealth mechanics that cant hook you on despite its fast paced gameplay and somewhat decent sci fi premise.

Biodrone battle is a flash game / mobile game style top down shooter set in a generic sci fi theme. The game has a few ideas and gimmicks like a stealth button that makes your unit go black and in theory invisible and you can use alt fire to stun lock opponents then ram in them to capture them. You can them morph between one of three types of units that are featured in the game, the optional objective being to capture everyone rather than kill. However, mechanically, the game didnt feel like it was doing what it should, I could stealth and get shot at even if I stealthed before being in field of view of anyone, I could fight against a unit thats the same type as me, hit it multiple times, and still get one shot by them. Additionally, the restart and continue buttons would sometimes bug out and refuse to work, or the help menu would refuse to minimize, and other little control/UI annoyances that made that cheapened the general feel of it. The way the game handled FOV related to vision worked okay, and it seemed like there were about 30 levels to go through, and the game even affords you to skip levels by unlocking 7 whole levels as you unlock tutorial, but ultimately, the universe and setting was shallow, the assets were acceptable for the genre but unremarkable, and the setting was generic but acceptable. It is the mechanical flaws and overall lack of any sense of why you should bother with this that killed it for me within the first 10 minutes. I got this in a bundle so I will simply delete it from library and hide it from Steam. If someone mastered this and found it to be a hidden gem of some kind then refer to them and their review for an explanation but I am going to recommend my friends they stay away from this sorry devs.

Got this in a mega bundle on super sale. Loaded it up for the trading cards, but I did try to give an honest go at the game.

I can't in good faith recommend this because the game crashed repeatedly and was marginally functional throughout my attempts to learn to play.

From what I could tell, there is very little by way of in game tutorial. I had to keep bringing up the key menu to see what my options were and then guess how to play the game on the first couple levels.

Aesthetically, I like the game's looks and art production level for an indie title. But this sort of felt like what would result if Derek Smart tried to make a "casual" game.

While BioDrone Battle has a very intruguing and unique battle style, incorporates unusual and fascinating AI and has a very Newgrounds-esque feel reminiscent of the early days of low-bit, challenging top-downs and sidescrollers, I can't reccomend the game purely because of a single control issue that has affected me on both my laptop, my old, mid-level hardware and my new, top end hardware. Directional controls and occasionally aim controls seem to - I'm not sure how to describe it - stop, reset. It's only minor but in a game this well constructed and challenging, suddenly freezing in the open or shooting straight past because your input seems to stop being detected for a moment can be devastating in gameplay. It's like you have a bad keyboard or mouse that drops out. Hell, it might be the game's porting, or it might be because of a simple bug. But that's the reason I don't have more hours in this intriguing little game.

Others have said they haven't had an issue - perhaps it's just my luck.

Played just the time to understand I didn't know what I was doing - literally. I also published a "first look" video in the community hub with my gameplay and a silly meme at the end of it to explain my feelings - no intentions to just speak ill of the game, but still a negative vibe for me.

Yesterday my vid was banned and today I know (by Steam support), it was on game's dev, not an actual Steam mod and they cannot deal with it - I should contact developers. Since I already have been in a similar situation not long ago and since this is the discussion forum's status ( https://i.imgur.com/3jRYvG6.jpg ) and video hub status ( https://i.imgur.com/o1mMc88.jpg ) as today, I won't bother with that.

I know this feels like a revenge review but I hope I still have the right to speak my mind. Banned video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=As-trY71Rk0

Developer removes/bans all kind of community content without reason. The developer also falsely accuses users of "insulting". Behaviour like this is definitely unacceptable.

Buggy and repetitive. Got stuck in a wall, had to restart level, takes you to home screen, and then reloads the level (vs just reloading the level). Doesn't explain morphing much. The point of it, the benefit, the results, etc. Has too much detail for a basic game in some areas, and then not enough in the others.

Just a crappy game.
The controlls are wacky, the graphics are really outdated for a game of 2015. I bought it because it was cheap as hell but it wasn't worth those few cents...
