Great title for those of you who enjoyed the original Ghost Recon. Plenty of beautiful maps, and game options to fit your gameplay style. Helios Production is a one-man dev team who has also worked on some Arma III DLC´s, and it shows he knows what tactical shooters are all about. Game is in beta but very playable, see my video below...

Kudos to this man´s little gem!

Pros:
AI Pathfinding is impressive for early access, considering how complex the maps can be.
I love the customization
There is definitely exciting things ahead.

Cons:
It's a pretty rough alpha, going by the rule "only buy early if you're comfortable with what you get today"
Customization UI doesn't work all that well yet but I expect this will be for last (as it should)

Summary: I refunded it because I personally needed the 15 dollars more, but I'm going to follow it and buy in later. This is a good prospect and I hope the devs keep at it.

Before buying this game I read the reviews here, let me tell you dont befooled by the super positive ones!
People claim this is the next ghostrecon and how great the costumization and AI are.
Once I booted up the game I was met with lots of costumization options that had clipping issues or would just randomly default back to the standard.
After starting a game against the AI i decided to refund:
-flashgame level gunplay
-horribly stupid bots
-visuals that are mediocre for 2020

If you love ghost recon and dont believe me go for it and like my review after your refund.
This game NEEDs more polish so be warned youre paying for a prealpha

I've never been more disappointed in a game, everything this game looks to promise it fails to deliver.
- Clunky movement
- Poor graphics
- Terrible AI
I would honestly recommend Takedown red saber before this game, that should tell you everything.
I'm only writing this because i truly wanted to love this game i know it's still in EA but i fear it will never live up to it's own hype.

Enemy AI: Dumb as fucking rocks

Gameplay and levels: shitty enemies that clip into the world and buildings

Stealth: I walked in front of a dude and was still unseen

graphics: look nice for a second and then turn into unity (i have a high end pc)

The game feels like a goddamn scam

If you can enjoy being a lone wolf sniper and you can handle yourself under fire you'll love this game. When i first played it it was a little buggy and AI's were dumb as a rock, but now they hunt you down and sweep until you kill them or your dead.
I like it and i approve this message lol

This is the type of game I have been wanting for a while, and while it is starting to get pretty good it has one glaring deal breaker for me; the AI spawning. The AI don't stop spawning which would be fine but they essentially spawn a few yards away if not on top of you, they need a set spawn and you should have the option to choose how often/how many spawn. This also makes the helicopter kind of pointless because once you are in the air they pretty much stop spawning.

I really like the game, even with it's slight clunky gun play, but it's hard to be as "tactical" in fire fights as the game wants you to be when AI endlessly spawn all around and on top, it breaks the immersion and it makes for repetitive and uninspiring gameplay.

Very glichy, aiming is way off but once you figure out compensation it works. Video quality is early prehistoric, but a good attempt has been made. Spawning opportunities would be nice to have if wanted by the player. I have thirty hours in it and am having fun with it. There is such a lack of good shooter games out there that I would work with a less than ready game to entertain myself. It would be nice if the creator would get with it and work on this game. It could be a really good game.

I'm kind of torn between whether i like the game or dislike the game, so I'll just throw up what i liked and dislike about it.

What I like:
-It's a simple concept, but fairly well done. Basically take the vast open environments of ARMA maps and generate as many random mission objectives as you'd like to play through before reaching an extraction point.
-Fully Customizable kit and loadout system as well as game settings that allow you to make the game as realistic or as casual an experience as possible to.
-Easy to pick up and play with no long prep times.

What I didn't Like:
-Enemy AI feels a bit lacking though when it comes to combat they put up a good fight.
-Partner AI feels a bit dumb but still useful when you need someone covering your six.
-Animation in the first person feels a bit clunky however motion feels smooth.
-Third Person Camera Mode can be very inaccurate when shooting around corners or over cover.
-Voice acting sounds very phoned in.
-Sometimes enemies will fall in 2 shots while other times 5 or more are needed.
-it's a single player game.

A lot of what i don't like about the game really rakes at me because for a simplified open world military simulator it hits all of the high points in my book while also suffering in the delivery of said experience. being able to navigate a grand map with randomly generated objectives and randomly placed enemies with just the push of a button is a great concept which is what attracted me to this game in the first place. all the other cons i listed however make it very uncomfortable to play. part of me wants to keep the game because it's not sure if the game will get better over time with little improvements to AI, Animations and third person/first person aiming controls and handling, another part of me wants to return it because it feels like it's just a waste of time waiting for this game to get better. it's because of this uncertainty that i can't recommend this to anyone i know.

I am refunding this game simply because I need the money, but I enjoyed what time I could in it, and will probably buy it once it pops up on sale again. Biggest problems I had were not being able to shoot while in motion, the gun play feeling light in that the guns did not have a kick in them, and a few bugs here and there. Good foundation!

i understand early access but a game where enemies just spawn ontop of you and shoot through any surface should not be allowed onto the store

i dont realy ever review games, but this needs to be said,DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS GAME, the dev has abandoned the game, given lame reasons and excuses and happily telling everyone that bought it too bad screw you guys im takeing on other jobs and thats that.this is the ugly side of early access, when so called devs do this kind of thing and you cant get a refund

Christ on crutches, I have no idea how this game is being sold with a straight face, the screenshots and videos in NO WAY match the game's experience. I am confident none of the issues with this game will ever be fixed due to it being in early access 3 years at this point and the consensus I have gathered is the Dev gave up on this game.

The Gunplay:

-The hand positioning is heavily unnatural and the crosshairs are nearly never center screen making quick target acquisition unreliable.

-Some guns don't even have recoil

-the grenade throwing is horrendous, you toss it up past your screen not straight making the range near unusable

-The guns are incredibly inaccurate and some of them don't even have properly aligned iron sights meaning you can tap someone's head and the bullet will land 5 feet to their side

The Visuals:

-I am running a 2070 Super and I7 4790k, I should have by no means any problems with running this game but there are times it will still chug on high.

-The game is so dark and murky on some levels that I had to navigate with night vision in broad daylight.

-There are not only massive texture issues all over the game but there is pop in of essential game objects constantly, my literal first sight of game play was the completely untextured environment in the tutorial intro cutscene which took 5 seconds to pop in completely. objects and foliage either disappear or turn into 2D images even when they are 20 feet from you on max settings.

-The level intro and exit transitions are hilariously bad, the obvious is the enter mission screen which is just a zoom in on a character's face to dramatic music which had me laugh out loud every time I saw it

-Even disregarding all other issues the game is ugly, clipping issues on character outfits and terrain, graphics reminiscent of ARMA 2 and poorly made models on many of the weapons.

The Gameplay:

-Enemies are either too stupid to tie their shoelaces or omniscient depending on the difficulty, they can't detect you standing right in front of them at times but can see you through netting and 3 layers of fences which makes them invisible due to the games horrid graphics

-The thermal vision is useless, I was shot several times by enemies who weren't registering on thermals right in front of me (and this was without turning on ghost enemies)

-You will often clip through the floors when jumping, sometimes just your camera other times your whole character

-Enemies will spawn underwater and shoot you through it

-You can quickly break the game and it's progression system as I did by setting the map to prison, setting objective to 5x kill target, and whacking on all of the difficulty options apart from ironman, walk around the outside of the map until you see your target, shoot him, watch the XP and levels roll in, die, repeat.

This is the single biggest pile of shit i have played all year.

Pros
- lots of customisation (you can literally wear black face, thanks dev)

cons
- everything else

(BTW none of the screen shots match the actual game, I have no idea why there are so many good reviews)

the game itself in no matches the screenshots and game play shown on the game page, almost like they scraped what they had and restarted from scratch, the UI is god awful, and the guns have no impact and feel horrible to shoot.

Couragethedog42
Couragethedog42

So the pics and video are not a good representation of this game. UI is basically the equivalent of any you would see in an unreal engine tutorial. Graphically the game needs a lot of work, there is a lot of pop in textures and things that make the game painful to look at at times . The gameplay is not much better, the lean mechanic is there but it really doesnt lean at all. I paid 3 bucks for this and id say that wasnt even really worth it. There is potential if the dev can get AI behavior to work properly/compitently and if there is cleaned up textures and gameplay. What i mean by this is that there are some really great ideas are here but none of them really hit the mark where they need to be. Ai shoot really well but pathfinding is horrible, Textures load in and out really poorly so everything is just a blurry mess, and the game just isnt fun tbh. I played it for less then an hour and needed a break to rest my eyes from the eye strain this game gave me.

i guess this is the last sale befor the devs abondon this title

i have this game around 3 years on my wishlist now and today if seen it for 3 bucks wich was what i had left on my paysafecard and i thought why the hell not ....

but this is not even worth 3 bucks not in the sligthest and i tell you why

i just describe what happend when i started the game

after starting it i already noticed something strange in the main menu my gpu temp was rising up to 74 degree just saying i play games like division2 or bf5 maxed out hardly reaching 70 degree only mid summer (ingame temps are fine 54-64)

i played the tutorial there you can already see a lot of bad things from ugly texture popins over bad controls the lack of quality of life features and the extrem bad AI and the last thing is the reason i can not recommend this game by any means

the AI is so fu..ing dumb that they make the AI of the game (sniper elite 1) make look like skynet the enemys act like lemmings if they see a dead body hear a shot or something else they always act the same exact way they just walk straight to what they have heard or seen in a straight line

no flanking no corner securing nothing they do not even crouch prone or else you just need to make one shot then wait behind a croner and you can then give them headshots one after another when they come around this corner

thats it the friendly hostage you have to rescue in the first mission is even better as soon as you reach him he instantly runs away directly into the enemys where he gets then shot "mission failed"

there is only one good thing i can say about this game and it is sad that i have to call this a good thing cause it should actually be a default standart in every gmae today but sadly even in the year 2020 it is not for some developers

you can freely map your hotkeys as you want ....

get arma 2 or even arma 1 get some solo or coop mods for it and you have a 1000 times better game hell even the arma 2 default campaign is 1000 times better then this or just play ghost recon wildlands without hud and drone

old titles like far cry one or crisis one are better by far i guess the dev thought after playing ghost recon wildlands "hey its so simple to make a "good" tactical open world shooter lets do it a few weapons a big map a few enemys and objectives and your done

well as you can see thats by far not everything you need for an open world tactical shooter and you failed hard with the most important thing the AI

but ok enough said

EDIT: i checked the games hub and yeah there are already others who say the devs have abandon this for another project a dev answered this post saying they dont they are working on an update right now he said your choice to believe that or not

like i said i had this 3 years on my wishlist to me this title does not look like a game people have worked 3 years on more like 6 months or so

NateRate the Narrate

It gives the experience of a mediocre asset flip. It runs okay but I literally get better performance in-game than in the main menu. Get it on sale, if at all, but to be honest anything you can do in this game you can do in another game with higher quality EVERYTHING.

It's cheap and kind of fun if not repetitive and you won't get much out of it even with the customizable mission options. The core game never changes no matter what kind of mission you're playing. If you can get over the jank then it could be a decent time-waster.

EDIT: Just saw that the dev of this game is killing support for this and is starting up a new project to "improve" on the mistakes made with this game. The dev has stated that anyone who currently owns the game will get the new title for free. Kind of good, kind of bad. Up to you to decide how your outlook of this dev is.

This game is far from finished but goddammit is it fun.

There's a few dodgy animations, AI isn't great, it's a bit repetitive, ricochet is a bit buggy, file size is too large, and the game as a whole needs more polish and content.

Seriously though, this game has mountains of potential. The stealth mechanics work fantastic (despite the way detection works after being spotted which is strange) and I especially love how XP is based on the difficulty you set for yourself. Difficulty is hugely customisable and so you can really tailor the game to be exactly how you want it.

You want an action game with shooting and explosions and all that? Tweak it to work for that and there you go. You want a challenging stealth game with infiltration and sneaking rivalling some AAA games (My preference)? Go right ahead.

If you enjoy MGSV, Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, or the classic Rainbow Six games, pick this game up while its under £10 and you'll have a blast.

SUGGESTIONS FOR THE DEV:
-Fix ricochet (bullets seem to bounce around off multiple walls. Maybe make it so they can only rochet once or twice?)
-Make detection more intuitive. One I've been detected, I will usually have to deal with enemies running at me from miles away and helicopters flying from across the map.
-Add multiplayer. ONLY DO THIS ONCE THE GAME IS MORE POLISHED. I definitely think multiplayer would be brilliant for this game but in it's current state I would rather see bugs fixed and gameplay improved. Maybe even add in a Battlefield style commander mode where one player can direct the rest of the squad?

HITMAN 98

This game is horribly optimized. Had everything set to ultra and the graphic were still not that good looking compared to the screenshots. It has a ridiculous amount of motion blur and lens flare that Micheal Bay would take issue with it. Textures popping in 10 feet away and even then the textures they don't look that great. Weapons are like lasers there is zero recoil adding no challenge. Speaking of lasers the weapon laser looks absolutely terrible. It looks like a bright red rod just sticking out the side of the weapon. Menus overlap each other and there's not much in the way of settings anyways. Wouldn't really waste the time or money on this one.

I paid only $3 for this game, and the only time I'm going to bother with it is what I have in it now. I did the tutorial, and that's all. Even that was janky as hell.

Dev probably abandoned it to go make another game. If I see any more updates I'll be surprised, and more updates is what it'll take to get me to look at it again.

I do not understand the recent increase in negative reviews.

The game is exactly what it claims to be. A highly adjustable sandbox shooter.
If you expect an action-packed, fast-paced, story-driven triple-A title, you're definitely at the wrong spot.

There is still some fine tuning to be done, but those who can overlook popping textures and not always correctly allocatable noises or voices of the enemies, will get many, many entertaining hours out of a game that is offered at a very fair price. (Currently, the price is about 15 bucks.)

Normally I am not a fan of FPS or tactical shooters. Not because I don't find them interesting, but because I'm bad at them.
Since you create or choose your own missions and mission objectives, even the failure of a mission is fun without the frustration of a story-based game where you're stuck because you can't pass a specific mission.

For a one-man-project there is a large selection of really well-designed maps, many customization options and enough weapons. The XP system, with which you don't have everything available at the beginning, can be disabled, but I wouldn't recommend it. Being rewarded for your progress is definitely more fun. The game runs smoothly and looks good, even if the FOV is clearly set too high.

There is still room for improvement and optimization and although the game should have left EA a long time ago, it can be assumed that it will take quite a while until completion.
Nevertheless, everyone who is looking for an extremely solid sandbox shooter, I can recommend Black Day, even in its current state, without a bad conscience.

Don't be scared off by the bad reviews. I didn't encounter any bugs during my first 1 hour test and I had a lot of fun even as a casual player without experience in FPS or tactical shooter games and I will definitely continue to play.
Due to the negative reviews I almost didn't buy the game, not even at the offer price of 2.99. Fortunately I did buy it and when ever I have the desire to play a shooter, I will start Black Day and probably keep doing so for many years to come.

Really liked the idea of the game, but it is disappointing that it cannot live up to the screenshots. Unfortantely there is so much wrong in my eyes and it feels so rough that I cannot even recommend it at a reduced price...

    • In early access for ages, single developer abandoned game to work on a new one.
    • Visually it looks nothing like the screenshots or video!
    • Textures often look washed out or are streched.
    • Game world looks stiched together, objects not really connected or floating above the ground. 2-3 objects thrown in buildings for an interior.
    • Assets seem to come from some free or low budget package.
    • Objects pop in and out on mid range (running at max settings with a 2070, i9).
    • Enemies pile up in big groups and charge you head on without taking cover.
    • Menu UI is horrible.
    • Several glitches and clunky animations.

I liked the ragdoll system, the customization options (if not for the UI), and the sandbox mission setup, but the bad outweights the good.

If you want to support some indies and play a good game, I would recommend checking out Ground Branch instead; or from a bigger developer, the good old Arma 3 .

This game is hella hard at the start, but fun when you get used to it. There's a bug where laying down and firing will do nothing. Also got shot and rag dolled across the map, but it's still in Alpha. Main menu is capped at 21 frames per second.

I like this game, but I couldnt recomend it. Its well designed so far, not many bugs or anything, but its boring. Im sure later they will make it less so, but right now, all of the missions are fairly boring. The only time its not boring is when stuff goes wrong, and then its not fun, just enfuriating.

Synopsis:

BLACK DAY is a stripped-down tactical sandbox game. The game play premise is simple; pick a map, pick objectives, outfit yourself and your squad, fine tune some difficulty parameters, and then deploy to attempt to complete the mission.

The game has several maps, most of which are fairly well-detailed. Some of them are very large while some are extremely small, giving a good variety of mission types. For example, you can hunt down several VIPs on a gigantic, desert map or you could try assaulting a single hospital building to capture an enemy leader and extract him. The game lets you operate during the day, night, bad weather, or any combination of these. As you kill enemies and complete objectives and missions, you gain experience towards unlocking new maps, weapons, and gear. You can outfit yourself and your squad mates with this gear. Finally, there are several other parameters you can tweak, such as adding air cover or attack dogs for the enemy, weight restrictions for how much gear you can carry, etc.

The real meat and potatoes of the game is the Spec Ops mode which allows you to custom tailor missions as described previously, however there are other modes such as an infinite-enemy spawn conquest mode where you fight along side friendly AI.

My thoughts on the game:

I find the game enjoyable mostly because it succeeds in terms of not losing focus of what it's trying to be. It's not trying to be an ultra-realistic MilSim like ARMA. It's not trying to give you the tools to simulate a massive combined arms battle field. This game is focused 100% on small unit tactics of the special operations variety, similar to games like the classic Ghost Recon series, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter series, and Ghost Recon: Wildlands. If you enjoy those games, you will likely enjoy this one. The level of simulation is similar to those in terms of what you get (rewarded for trying to think tactically) as well as what you do not get (realistic ballistics -- although the game DOES have bullet drop and bullet travel -- or MilSim level detail to gear).

Another aspect I like is there is quite a bit of cosmetic customization possible. It's very possible to outfit your squad where each member looks like they're all part of the same unit. You can also outfit them in such a way where you can easily tell them apart (giving your sniper a ghillie suit or giving your SAW a distinctive plate carrier/kevlar vest, for example).

Be aware, the game is far from perfect. It is developed by a single person and that becomes immediately apparent upon playing it. The game can be fairly janky at times in terms of how your squad members behave as well as how the enemy AI reacts. There's also some jank in terms of how the world itself operates. For example, when crawling up a hill prone it's not uncommon to clip through the hill a bit and see the underside of the game world. There's quite a few weapons, however a lot of them aren't all that different from each other. Some things like the physics of throwing frag grenades are so strange as to not really work (hint: use stick grenades, the throwing physics are more predictable and they explode on impact), while other things like flash bangs don't really seem to do very much at all even when employed correctly.

Ultimately, this game is what you make of it and it may take a bit of imagination to have some fun with it. If you're on the fence, since Steam offers refunds, here's what I would suggest. Buy the game, it's only $15.00. Pick the Jalh-Ab Desert map and start experimenting a bit with some missions. Select the mission to kill the VIP and try different variations. Run the mission at night using night vision. Add some additional objectives. You should be able to determine fairly quick if you enjoy the game.

Bottom line:

The game is unpolished and has a very basic presentation. However, don't let that fool you. There's quite a bit of replayability to be had if you make good use of the numerous tools the game gives you. Do not go in expecting a finished game experience or you will be let down. See the game for what it is: a fun tactical sandbox that lets you automatically generate missions with lots of variety. That last point cannot be stressed enough. This is game is essentially a random mission generator where you get to tweak the parameters. Use your imagination, experiment, and have fun!

why?
why?

Do not be fooled by the screenshots and the trailer like I was. I thought this would be somewhat the old rainbow six games (ravenshield and older). It wasn't. Its unpolished . Very, very, very unpolished. Its not very tactical but not like call of duty and battlefield. Stealth is poor. The concepts in the game are great but need some work done on them. I feel this shouldnt have been released or even announced for that matter until it was way more polished ( i know i sound redundant). Fix the game please! I really wanna like it but I just can't with the condition its in as of right now.

It seems like the creator has a lot of good ideas, but the game feels like an asset flip to me. The assets do not match the screenshots, and the gameplay is super weak.

On top of that, it looks like it has recently become abandonware.

What a gem of a game. Like Counter strike you can jump in for a quick 10 minutes or play 2 hours. The game is straight forward and allows you to tweak the game to how you like. The last update Beta 12 improved the game a lot. If your into this type of game, I would highly recommend it.

Sloppy.

Like with other games by this dev, the AI is really poor, the sounds are really annoying (especially footsteps - holy cow), and it is just really lackluster.

AI getting stuck in infinite climbing loops over invisible walls, not shooting at eachother (an issue also in heavenworld - another game by this dev), wonky physics, some areas are literally so dark you cannot see even in daylight, and just choppy visuals.

The screenshots look nothing like the actual in-game content. Be warned.

Voice acting literally sounds like a joke.

Not impressed.

Super cool concept needs a ton of work, very buggy and unpredictable frame rate. AI is awful (can shoot a guy talking to or standing right in front someone and there's no response) guns and you clip all the time, and my biggest gripe, enemies seem to spawn in on when you enter a specific spot, i can waltz to the center of a camp or base before 15 guys spawn all screaming enemy in sight before bending me over. Get on sale, hopefully this turns out good.

After many updates and patches i can say this game is a scam, DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!

UPDATE:
Dev abandoned the game in exchange for a new one called black one blood brothers. This sudden change rather than just porting the new features and improving this game is worrying.

Black day is one of those games I honestly can't get enough of. On the base, it's rather simplistic. Choose a map, make your bloke, deploy, repeat. The gleaming draw of this however is it's open-ended customization of each different operation.

Want to build up a team of Third Echelon wannabes and infiltrate a medieval castle to take out a gun supplier for some rebels? Done mate. Or, how about deploying a heavy elite unit ready to destroy anything in their path, including tanks, helicopters, and hordes of patrols all to steal a suitcase composed of enemy intelligence from separatists? You can! You can even escape in a helicopter or tank.

My personal favorite is creating a SWAT team. Thanks to the semi extensive customization , sieging a hospital taken over by terrorists can be done and sometimes feels like SWAT 4. There are orders you can give to your team however the menu is not the best and the developer could take inspiration from games like SWAT for the menu. It's incredibly open-ended but requires you, the player, to at least have some imagination. In this regard, there is no plot or story per se. It's more like a huge sandbox to design your own missions, units, etc, and complete them in any way you see fit. Personally, this game is my dream. If you messed around a lot in any ARMA games editor, this will almost certainly appeal to you.

As for gameplay, shooting gets the job done but it's nothing to write home about. It can take some adjustment to get used to but once you've got it, you've got it. Ai is very much hit or miss. Sometimes they act incredibly well, flushing you out of your position and waiting for you to slip up. Other times, you can pick them off one by one from a distance and they won't even run when they see their mates head splat. It's very off-putting, especially when you see how well the ai sometimes works. The same goes for your team as they do their job but even basic things like entering vehicles or staying close by your side are troublesome and frustrating at times. Animations are impressive but the enemies ai could use some work for theirs. More idle animations or even seeing the enemy use the cover system (which you can use) would be great to see!

Now it's still early access so go into this game remembering that. It's nowhere near as polished as ARMA or any other game like that, but I believe from the work of a tiny development team, this is phenomenal and I can't wait to see where it goes! One thing I do request is rappels as doing a HALO jump and landing on a building is basically game over if you can't make it down. Customization could use a bit of work too as some items (pants are usually the big one) missing camo or simply not matching up to any torso.

Now, I have no issue running this on ultra settings however I am packing a 2080. Graphics look great however the screenshots on the page have clearly been 'touched up' a bit as most games tend to have. The game still looks great however, though it may be wise to change them for something more akin to the photos the community are taking in photo mode.

TLDR: A project for the player who enjoys old Tom Clancy games and just wants something they can hop into for 5 minutes to 5 hours! Well worth the price of admission. Buggy and basic at times but the developer is clearly passionate to continue work.

i don't understand the bad reviews. i have been gaming since the mid 90's. i love realistic shooters. this game is very realistic and that culls a lot of players. i have not seen even one bug. game play is flawless. grafics are plenty good. fps is smooth as butter. the format is my ideal format. AI is good on both sides. what is not to like? it's worth 10x the price.

I have been trying out all sorts of things in this game over the last few days and have to say that I really like the game. It is a bit rough here and there and I do not play the mode that has the monsters and stuff but the squad mode is very enjoyable. The game is very flexible and nearly everything about the game-play can be changed. There is a lot of gear for your operations and the squad can be equipped with custom gear as well. I even renamed them :) You also get a lot of options when it comes to controls.
Overall I can see how some people think this is not for them but you need to remember: It's a sandbox with different modes you can play around with. Random stuff can and will happen and depending on how much time you like to spend on tweaking your missions you can make insane stuff happen that is very unique every time. I will keep operating!

So here is the thing. When i first saw the game and its clips and all i got rly hyped... i mean its a sandbox shouter that u make the missions, who woudlnt like that. And that is what the game offers indeed. BUT, its for sure not what i expected to be.
LEts start with the first problem that bothered me as soon as I started my mission. The scope. The scope on the first AR you get is on the upper part of the screen.... i mean i wouldnt have such a big problem if it wasnt in the middle and it was a bit below but being mostly above the middle made it a true pain. Ofcorse that is not a reson to downvote it yet. When the game started. As soon as an AI saw me i had no idea from were i was gonna get hit. Its almost imposible to spot the AI especially in maps that have tress. Since they shoot u threw some very thick leafes and you are not able to see them even with the thermall vision, the game was a real pain till i got some friendly ai.... then it turned around completly. As soon as u give your ai the command to keep there guard up (wich is alos a pain since the comman menu isnt very practicle and ruins whatver hype u may have at the thought that you lead a squad in battle) they will shoot anything that moves. I dont even get to see the enemy and it has already been shot instantly. Having this ai with you is like having a bunch of characters with aimbot. After that the generall movement and the graphics itself wasnt realy what i was expecting but then again that is alright since I dont mind having a game with bad graphycs.

For now? I downvote the courent gameplay but upvote the idea... it just need some fixing at my opinion. But hey I didnt play it that much even. If you spend some time fixing your equipment and your squad and maybe the sandbox setings that seem to be a lot, it could end up being a plesant game. But at that point u will porapbly be spendinga few hours just to setting up the perfect much and again, thats not a bad thing i am sure there are lots of people that love that idea and i do to. But with the way the gameplay is, mainly the bad ai, the slopy and weird movement, the very unfriendly command menu and the weird aim on some of the weapons i got to test, i do not want to dedicade much time to make my perfect gameplay inviroment. It has potential, its a great great idea, but it needs work. Maybe i will give it another trie in the future.

I would very much like to recommend this game! It's allot of fun. You can tell where it mimics characteristics of GRW in the right places.

Game seems to have gotten some upgrades recently. Graphics are Gr8, & pushing my GTX-1070-TI pretty hard without any glitches so far.

Weapons & weapon systems are fun & in some places original, creative, & imaginative. I recommend giving multiple maps a try, & remember you need to level up to unlock new gear & new maps. Gotta have something to play for a reward right?

I would like to see my underwater vision clear up. Looks like my character is wearing dirty goggles you would expect to find in FALLOUT, not on a serious Military Mission as an Elite Spec Ops Soldier. Other then that, think about the fact that the water in this game is BETTER THEN IN JUST CAUSE 4! But just cause 4 is kind of a dumpster fire. What can ya do...

A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE! This game is truly OPEN WORLD! You know when you're playing a new AAA Title & it seems stupid that your character can't climb rocks? WELL IN THIS GAME YOUR CHARACTER CAN CLIMB UP STEEP ROCK FACES! I didn't fully test it everywhere, but when I wanted to get somewhere & I was running around a large formation because that's what most games make you do. I decided to turn towards the Rock Face & hit the Jump Key, & VIOLA! I was climbing as one might expect of a real Soldier, a Ranger out in the field.

However, I've yet to discover if there's a Parachute or a Repel Line. Seems you can jump from pretty high without taking damage but you will die if you jump from a ridiculous hight.

Changing Controls is easy peasy. Adjusting Graphics is also smooth & easy. This game since I bought it on sale is starting to make me feel like I ripped off the Author! If you start & you're not in FIRST PERSON don't panic! Just hit the Y Key I believe it is, & it tells you in the Options, so you can find out yourself.

I for INVENTORY allows you to Pause the game & Equip / Unequipped your Suppressors & different Scopes. You can select firing modes on the Fly. The number 4 Key switches out your various Explosive Ordinance just like in GRW.

As far as I'm concerned this game was a STEAL! And it's only going to get better! THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO THE AUTHOR! Gr88 STUFF! I hope this was helpful to someone.

EDIT: One more thing I want to add! Wanna carry allot of explosive ordinance &/or change how much ammo you're carrying out into the battle? WELL YOU CAN! Seems Ordinance's are up to 8 per, & Ammo was 25 Per. I imagine as you level up we'll be able to carry even MORE! This is really good!

As of 30/8/20, I have played roughly 6 hours of the game. The concept of the game is rather enjoyable, with the main features I enjoyed the most being customisation of your character and squad, commanding a variable squad size, and completing a set of randomised missions on a variety of maps. However, to me, this doesn't really properly balance the overall experience I have had playing this game.

For starters, one of my nit-picky points is the UI: personally not a huge fan of the appearance of the hud and menus, however that's just personal preference. During one of the sandbox levels, I encounted a rather small bug that involved one of my teammates standing still on a slight hill (as if stuck, but they were a good few metres away from surrounding rocks) and refused to follow orders issued (only happen once thus far and wasn't too bothered with it, as was able to carry on with the level); additionally, also unsure if the squad AI is to allowed to shoot at enemy units during night missions, as told them to fire at a target and they responded with the 'negative' response. The AI in general could do with some improvements, as during the 'Factions Wars' levels, I have had both enemy and ally units waltz past each other, without them shooting each other, only for the same enemies to then immediately spot me from over 100 metres away; Also, the enemy units not only seem to spawn anywhere, but also sometime consistently spawn as close as 10-15 metres from the player (had some spawn right on-top of me on my first try of the gamemode). When combining the previous two points together results in the player having a rather hellish time trying to progress very far before being downed almost immediately, and potentially ending up in a loop of slow revivals and instantaneous downings. One last nit-pick is that the 'little-bird' helicopters have successfully negated any problem with units being underneath them, as they are able to fire rockets that can launch at impossible, near-vertical shots when hovering.

I would suggest, but not force (as it is your own money, and you choose what to spend it on), people into looking at purchasing the game get it during the steam sales, as the game is rather enjoyable in the 'spec-ops' mission settings and squad setup sections, which is what I will be carrying on to play in this game.

enigmaburrito21
enigmaburrito21

It’s a pretty solid game, but of course it has its flaws. You guys need to remember that this game is being made by one guy. He has a family to take care of. You can tell English isn’t his native language, but grammar and spelling in the game seems really good besides the fact that it says desactivate alarm instead of deactivate. I have been looking for a sandbox military game, sort of like ARMA or something, and this isn’t necessarily the sandbox ARMA is. This is a really cool concept, and for one guy?

Visuals

This game looks good. The character animations are pretty fluid, and something interesting I noticed is that you can press shift while proning to move faster, which I haven’t seen in any other game. Leaning is a big problem as well. In third-person, leaning only moves your upper torso and clips through the bottom part of your torso, leaving your legs in a fixed position. In first-person, leaning lets you hold the smallest angle, almost as if you move your body a tiny bit to the right or left. For fixing the lean problems, I suggest taking a look at Rainbow Six Siege for first-person and probably PUBG for third-person, but I've never really played PUBG that much so there might be other third -person games where you can lean. Most weapons that I've used look really nice, but some, such as the Mk18 Mod 0, aren't very polished. The stock looks too shiny and the receiver looks like it came right out of a low-poly FPS game. The Mk17 stock clips through the characters arm, which is another thing I've noticed. That doesn't take away too much from the gameplay because I've really only noticed it in the Squad screen, but it would be nice for a small fix. (Almost done with the visuals here, bear with me.) For the night vision and thermal vision in first-person, I understand why there is a binocular overlay: for realism, of course, however it doesn't fit into the game very well. With night vision IRL, you probably have a less obscured field of view than this game. I'm not saying Modern Warfare 2019 has accurate night vision, because I've never used night vision myself, but start there first and work on adding overlays later. Basically just think of night vision and thermal vision as a gameplay filter. Lastly, try to fix the first-person view point. When I HAVE played PUBG, I preferred to play in first-person, because why not? The only problem I had with it is that it wasn't like any average FPS, with only about half of the gun you're holding being visible. That's the case with Black Day. It isn't like an average FPS, and I understand that it can be played as both an FPS and a TPS, so I'll let it slide. Finally done with the visuals.

Realism

There is hardly any blood in this game, almost similar to the amount of blood seen in Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, but less. I think this game should be more bloody to match the realism you're heading for. You don't have to work on wounds and decals on bodies just yet, but if possible try to add simple puffs of blood when hitting an enemy (again, I direct you towards Siege for this) and blood pooling under dead bodies.(GTA V has pretty lame blood pooling but that's the only game I can think of with blood pooling right now) Later on when you feel ready you can add bullet wounds and blood spray hitting walls and floors. Reloading is kind of eh. First off, when you use all of your ammo, that's when the slide of your pistol locks back and you have to press the slide release or pull the slide back, or that's when the bolt locks open and you have to either pull the charging handle or press the bolt catch to chamber another round. That's an empty reload, which is pretty self-explanatory: reloading the weapon when it's out of ammo. A tactical reload, which is what everybody does in FPS games, is where you fire any amount of shots as long as you leave at least one in the chamber. In this situation, the slide for a pistol does NOT lock back, or the bolt of a rifle does NOT lock open. When in that situation, you do NOT have to pull the slide or charging handle back, you simply put another magazine in and continue firing. It seems that this game does the procedure for an empty reload, even in the situation where a tactical reload is supposed to be done. CSGO does this, Left 4 Dead also apparently does this (but that makes sense because I guess they aren't trained in using weaponry like the military is) but this is one of the games that should not do this. CSGO shouldn't either, but the devs are probably too lazy or think that nobody is going to pay attention to it. Now just from saying all that, I may sound like a gun nut, but that is one thing that I am not. I know names of basic guns that everybody knows the names of, and I also know how to operate a gun even though the closest experience I have to shooting a gun is with BB, Airsoft, and paintball guns, but I guess VR can teach you a lot. That was a lot longer than I meant for it to be, but continuing on, we have problems with customization. Clothing and gear clips through other clothing and gear, to put it simply.

AI

The AI overall feels really bland. The enemy death animations are kind of lame too, they just drop to the ground with their torso clipping through their legs. It’s nothing that can’t be fixed though. The friendly AI is also kind of bland, but I like what you did with the orders. The orders are definitely better than those present in Ghost Recon Wildlands and Breakpoint, which everyone can tell this game is heavily based off of, and I like where you're going with it.

Overall

The graphics in this game are great for an indie game. Building interiors are unpolished and empty though. I think more camo options should be added so you can actually have your outfit match, and that's really the only thing that I think needs to be added that won't affect gameplay. TLDR; I think this game has the potential to be better than even Ghost Recon Wildlands and Breakpoint, because Wildlands just gets boring after finishing the story, and Breakpoint just gets repetitive. This game has tons of replayability, and this idea is SUPER ambitious, so I firmly believe that you will finish this game. I am enjoying it so far and recommend it to those of you that don't mind playing an unfinished Ghost Recon superior that gives you plenty of ways to customize your operations. If you don't want to play an unfinished game, don't get this. Helios Production, I know you won't read this, but I just want to say that I am really amazed at what you have accomplished so far, and I'm looking forward to playing some more. (PS. at some point can you add online and local co-op? Not online multiplayer with a bunch of people in a match, I just mean like you and a friend can play together or maybe you and several other friends to fill up the spaces taken by the AI teammates.)

There's potential here, but no joy to be found, at all. Braindead AI even at the highest levels basically means any tactical element that may be here is totally squandered. Give this one a wait.

imo, a bit too early to be sold for money. I can't recommend picking up Black Day just because, while there's a fair amount of content here already, it's not really at the point where it all comes together yet.

Playing, it kinda feels like a really early version of Ghost Recon: Wildlands, but stress *really* early.

If future updates really tidy this up, I'll happily come revise this, but given it's been in early access three years I'm hesitant to advise anyone jump in sooner rather than later.

This is a neutral review, it's not positive nor negative.

The concept is good.
The game isn't good just yet.
It has what it needs to be good but there's still lot of work to do.

Content is lacking but lot of things need to be worked on before adding more content.
Better first-person mode, better gameplay, better AI, etc.
I got about 15 guys spawning in the same exact spot, i did killed them pretty easily, to be honest, i thought this would be a bit like Arma 3 using missions generator mods.
It kind of is but without the semi-realistic aspect and the complexion.
Modding support for this game is a must.

I'll be following this from close, i do have hope for the two games released by Helios, hopefully i won't regret it.
The reasons i give this one a positive is simply because there's no neutral option and supposedly that the developer working on this game is a one man team.

All i can say is wait and see.

Edit 2021 : Developer abandonned the game to make a new one which will be given out for free to the owners of Black Day.
I hope it will be better and completed but i'm having lot of doubts about this developer so wait and see.

The Man With No Plan
The Man With No Plan

I like the ideas that this game has, and I know its in early access, however, extremely rough around the edges and does not play well. One of my biggest pet peeves was how the lazer sight on your gun would be very jumpy if you moved your aim. Was not smooth at all. This made clearing rooms and any high speed CQB with the lazer sight very difficult. However, I look forward to seeing a polished version of this game. Would be awesome.

Feeling like the good old GRAW (Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter) times again !!

I really want to like this game. Black Day looks and plays like a game that was bought and built off of the UE4 marketplace. I really like the idea of this game and want the developers to continue but theres just a lot they need to do. The entirety of the UI needs to be reworked.

I am honestly lost for words.
This has to be one of the most underrated games I have played in awhile.
And please, keep in mind that this game is still in beta so don't expect everything to run smoothly.
I guess the best way that I could describe this game is if Arma and Squad had a baby.
If you are planning on buying Arma anytime soon and you worry about not being able to play it very well, then I highly recommend playing this game. It's sort of like a training tool for Arma. Even tho, this game is in beta, the optimisation is actually pretty decent. I thought that i would even have to download mods that allowed me to play on ultra low settings but nope, this game automatically has set my graphics options to Epic, and the game still runs smoothly. Yes, there are a couple of glitches here and there but overall, this is one amazing game and it is definitely worth every penny.

This game is rough, but beyond that, it is one of the most fun shooters I've played in a while. Its shares great similarity with TC's Ghost Recon Wild-lands. I really don't want the dev to give up on this. It has so much potential. The game has full weapon/player customization. A great time passer.

Pros:

Replay-ability

Solid Graphics

A multitude of customization.

Milsim is there

Cons:

The player models can be buggy

The guns are a slight bit buggy as well (Non game breaking)

AI can be idiots

No multiplayer aspects (which I don't really care about)

Summery: The game is great and when on sale is something you should look into. There is so much potential and i hope it takes off. (NOTE: This game would be great if it had steam workshop support)

ShepardPlays

If you are a fan of the old tactical games like Rainbow Six/Ghost Recon you will probably like this game even if it is a bit rough around the edges the only reason I am giving this game a thumbs down is due to the recent news that the dev is abandoning this game to make a new game in the same style,

Even though I have not logged many hours into this game I can see why people do and I will continue to playit, the game itself comes with a lot of content there are 3 gamemodes to play maps of varying styles from middle eastern deserts to industrial docks to lush jungles they all feel very well put together.

The weapons in the game also handle very well the guns do not feel like some games where the shooting feels like laser tag, there are a lot of weapons from although actual weapon customization is limited to 3 scopes, a laser/flashlight and a silencer there are tons of weapon camos, there are also a ton of customization options for your character and squad you can make them look like your typical soldier, a rag tag group of PMC members or advanced Exo soldiers.

The AI however does sometimes leave a lot to be desired as when playing on the prison map enemies just sort of funneled themselves through a gate as i shot them and other times they will just stand and stare a you as you shoot at them and there buddies.

on the good side though the difficulty options are great you can play this game as an ultra hard solo/squad stealth mission or you can lower the difficulty and play it as an unkillable murder squad or a one man walking tank you can also choose how many objectives you want to complete on a map if you want a long slow stealth mission reminiscent of Metal Gear Solid or Splinter Cell you can or if you want to just do a short assault mission whichever you prefer the freedom is there for the player.

but as I said the only reason this is a negative review is because the dev announced today that they will not be working on this game any longer as they are making a new game the same as this which hopefully they will not abandon mid development I wish steam had a middle option as I would recommend this if you wanted to buy a game that you know will never be finished but there is a lot in the game already then.

So the dev ditched this game to make a new similar game just to "hand" out the next game free for Black Day owners.. That absolutely makes no possible sense. This game could of just been worked on more and polished out. Do yourself a favor and skip this one and the next one.

Ice Dweller

The dev literally left this game out to die while he worked on something else, game is extremely unfinished.

PhantomOfGrace
PhantomOfGrace

An enjoyable game that will be forever left unfinished with people crying left and right because the dev has to drop Black Day since the SINGLE developer and his early coding skills did not support the ideas he had for the game. He has came out and made it public that it is his fault and why the next game will be free to all Black Day owners instead of dropping the project completely and developing the new game and not giving it out at all. Instead of listening to the overprivileged children whine about the fact he's dropping Black Day take a look at the game itself and then decide if you are to buy it or not. As of this time if you purchase Black Day you will get Black One on release.

There are plenty of bugs surrounding Black Day like the character customization cosmetics can and will clip into each other depending on what you are choosing, this is probably due to assets that are not built to be used together yet slapped into the game, the later cosmetics do work well with each other. AI can use some work especially with detection through bushes and dense chain fences plus the animations are a bit wonky, plus First Person is very unusual. you can definitely tell the camera was just moved to the front of the face for it. Weapon customization is limited to a perk style equip where you get the weapon and select an attachment through a very limited list of two or three sight attachment and either a suppressor or none.

Enough with the nitpicking of bad the game does have an idea down, a tactical sandbox with AI squad and that can play like a metal gear. Even having some strange game modes to try and spice things up a little.

Instead of complaining that the developer has abandoned this game because he's an idiot that just wants to make a new title, read this and shut the fuck up.

This game is a lot of fun, extremely difficult and quite buggy which can make it quite infuriating. The concept of the game had lots of potential and the developer is working on a sequel called Black One Blood Brothers that shows a lot more potential. Unfortunately, as a result of this the developer has effectively (but not officially) abandoned Black Day, however it's still a game worth playing. There are a lot of maps to play and enough customisation in the settings and loadout that you can get hours of fun out of it and if you like a challenge, the game can go from really easy to insanely, unrealistically difficult and everything in between.

The bugs are not game breaking although on one occasion I did get glitched into a wall after being revived following a sneaky anti-personnel mine explosion knocking me down. Thankfully this has only happened once, the other bugs are just more annoying. If you trigger an alarm, the AI will spawn in predetermined locations without any regard for the proximity of you to them meaning you can suddenly be surrounded by a whole squad. You can get around this by figuring out the spawn points and running away from them when the alarm triggers or focusing on the area and quickly wiping all the enemies out. The AI have excellent tracking skills and will converge on your last known position or where your shots came from before going on to patrol other areas trying to find you. Sometimes they're a bit too good and will track you right to the edge of the map no matter how sneaky you are.

Other than that, it's an awesome game and remains on my "always installed" list until I get frustrated and uninstall it before re-downloading it again 10 minutes later once I've calmed down.

i_pk_pjers_i

This is actually a good game. The developer has moved on from this game and it will not be getting a full release, but from what I have played it is actually a fun tactical shooter. It has more customization than almost any other tactical shooter out there, you can switch between first-person and third-person views, you can play on night mode or day mode on all maps, and there is a lot of weapon customization with a bunch of camos too. There's lots of maps and mission types, multiple AI difficulty levels, and fun gameplay. I am surprised by the level of customization in this game and for me personally it's really nice to see.

I know this game doesn't have the best reputation because of the fact that it won't be getting a full release, but I really enjoy the game for what it provides.
