Unplayably shit game. If you play classic mode, literally every dice roll comes out in the computer controlled team's favour. Every time. You can't even pick up the ball, you'll just fail. If you try to have one of your players hit one of the computer team's players, your player will fall over. If you try to move one of your players around the pitch, they will fall over. The computer team will then smash your players into the ground, and flawlessly run, grab the ball, and score with no problem. This will happen consistently, no matter how many matches you play.

the online account feature is one that does a good job of fucking any chance of having fun in the game

If you enjoy or enjoyed the tabletop game, then you will like this. It is easy to pick up, but tough to master, and there is always that random chance factor at play too. No crashes or bugs so far.
My Elf team - Baybreeze Knights 1-2-0 so far. Without really reading anything and just taking the plunge...

Cannot turn off 4 minute timer. Kickoffs and Kick returns are glitched and at random, all of a sudden it will not let you put up to 11 players on the pitch. Computer run teams suffer ZERO injuries during simmed games, putting you at a huge disadvantage - every team you will face in tournaments is 100% healthy. Game is UNPLAYABLE because of the kickoff & kick return glitch. Avoid this game and try Blood Bowl 2 instead.

I would recommend this game, but only to fans of either Blood Bowl itself or the Warhammer universe in general. It's a very faithful recreation of the original tabletop game which I adored as a kid and which brings back fond memories for me whilst playing this incarnation. However, the dice rolls WILL make you bang your head in frustration and sometimes disbelief, and the learning curve once you pick up the basics can be quite steep for new players.

Overall, I don't think this stands up as a video game in it's own right, but I do see it as a very faithful recreation and excellent companion to the original tabletop game. If you can't get hold of a copy of the board game then this will get you as close as possible to that feeling and, if you're willing to put in the time and effort to learn, it can be just as rewarding.

Although I like the concept and the humour in the game, the number of bugs related to gameplay, sound and music or even cut commentaries is staggering and takes a lot from enjoyment. It seems to be sloppy programming. The easier readability of stats and tactics could be better - most important info should be highlighted among the funny contextual add ons.
I played only single player campaign and the game is just ok. I play one, two matches a day because more gets repetitive and boring.

If I could give it a neutral response, I would.

The game is brimming with charm and personality. The announcers, while they tend to get repetitive a bit fast are hilarious.

Unfortunately, the QOL of the game is pretty piss poor and the RNG seems to be fudged at times, and in a way that's pretty un-fun. While it's hardly the only game that fudges RNG it is one that makes the experience worse for it. It also helps that the tutorial assumes that you've not only read the tabletop ruleset but also played it before, which... yeah, there's a bit of unhelpfulness to it. Worst of all is that it promises a story mode, but that story mode is more of a challenge mode... one with absurdly difficult challenges to boot, as you basically need *every single roll* to go your way on offense and, at times, for the AI to immediately score so you can get the ball back because your team is a bit shit at forcing fumbles.

If you can get it cheap, just want something for a quick game before bed/work, have people to play against, or a fan of the tabletop game, go ahead and pick it up. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother.

I didnt't know this game before, I was knowing only the warhammer standard version of the board game..
hard to learn, hard to master.. you will loose many times... but it is addictive like no others

Dang ol' Hank

Some factions are clunky and the dice can be unforgiving, but overall still a fun game with a decent difficulty curve. On harder difficulties the AI actually does something aside from rush down the middle or pass.

I found this game from TotalBiscuit a few years ago- and have loved it since! I was not very familiar with the Warhammer universe or the board game, but what I was looking for was a sports game that required more thinking and this game really scratched that itch for me. I find myself repetitively coming back to it to crush and wreck a whole team in this footballish, turn-based sports, blood bowl.

This game is really hard, even up against computers, but all the different races and customization options make it a lot of fun.

Pure nostalgia. Brings me back to the days that I had all the time in the world to set up this fantastic boardgame with my mates.

It was fine when it came out, but Blood Bowl 2 is better looking, and added some quality of life improvements like being able to see how many dice you're rolling before the actual roll without having to figure it out on your own.

Burlgoat69

The game is good, the UI is a little janky and where common sense would prevail in the tabletop version it does not here, i prefer the new version but this version plays on very low spec machines :)

Would recommend this over Bloodbowl 2, a d Blood bowl 3 will use the new edition rules, I believe Blood Bowl: Chaos edition remains the best for the classic rules, but a bit visually dated.

PickleCat

See Blood Bowl; Legendary Edition, but just add 3 or so more teams/races, some quality of life fixes and it's pretty much the same game, but with a little more...

Great buy because unlike the new game you get 20+ different factions who also have different subsets to them when you play. You can customize your own team by color and name. Game may seem unfair at times, but I still have fun with it. Game certainly looks old but still plays way better then the new version. It also includes the old rules which are much better and makes the game fair.

This old turn-based game is a jewel - among my best three games. It might require getting familiar with the rules of the boardgame it is made from. I think that many gamers will get much enjoyment from its wacky atmosphere, the simple but enticing strategy game and the progression of their team and players from game to game and season to season.

the only game to ever make me Alt + F4 and Uninstall. I have a panic attack anytime I hear dice rolling. Stupid RNG garbage clown fiesta, great fun with friends, well worth it on sale. Good game.

Excellent adaptation of the original. Nice additions to. I see no reason to upgrade to Blood Bowl 2.

fantastic. scratches the weirdest itch. half sports game, half turn based, half tactical rpg. all fun.

Played the board game in 1989/90 and loved it. I find this as enjoyable. Though the Bob and Jim commentary is annoying...

I have many more hours on this with my old CD hard copy then it shows on steam.

All I can say is if you can't laugh at RNG producing wtf results on occasion this may not be for you.

If you can laugh at RNG then you may end up with some funny memories. (I'm looking at you rookie halflings that somehow killed my veteran ogre with a tackle.)

I enjoyed.

YMMV

Fun and engrossing turn based game, however it gets monotonous and old quite quickly. I found the same tactics and same updgrades etc. eventually always one. I was winning games by double digit scores quite fast and regularly. Decent as a time-sink, but not worth €15

Incredible game. Completely faithful to the tabletop (with a bunch of extra rules that 90% of people don't use but are there if you want them). Don't get me wrong, this is a glitchy mess, but that kind of reinforces the Blood Bowl spirit. I highly recommend this game.

This is a highly fun game for anyone who loves tactical combat games, though you DO have to keep in mind it's not JUST a fight.

I'm not a big digital board game fan, and I've heard great things about Blood Bowl, but I just can't seem to get into it.

Do me a favor, do don't it, don't do it.

Obey the Fist!
Obey the Fist!

This is a conversion of Games Workshops tabletop/boardgame, Blood Bowl. Blood Bowl is a sports game featuring the popular races from Warhammer Fantasy. Where Warhammer is a lengthy, in depth effort with huge miniature armies, Blood Bowl is a very cut down version with only a few units per side, to attract quicker gameplay.

While it's one of Games Workshops many popular titles, this video game conversion is lacking. The game wasn't designed with modern PCs in mind, there's no UHD support and the aspect ratio appears off, slightly stretched. The interface is clunky and lacklustre. Despite the 2012 release date, this feels like a mid 00's game.

The game has also been superseded by Blood Bowl 2, making this completely obsolete. It's neither acceptable nor ethical for developers to make a game completely obsolete but keep trying to sell the old and busted version. That's just pure greed.

The best way to experience the classic tabletop game, with the computer to crunch the numbers! A deeper roster of available teams than any other version, as well.

Nessaja
Nessaja

Clunky, non-skippable cutscenes, intransparent rules, overly complicated.
Yes, it is Warhammer, yes, it is exactly as the boardgame and it also has nostalgia, but it is also so very very not contemporary and it did not age in grace.

[DG]Gothic_cheese

this game is based upon the games workshop table top game.
make your own blood bowl team and "fight" against other teams to win.
its fun but a bit repetitive.

craigb

This is a fairly straightforward recreation of the tabletop game - with a few rare occasions where the skills don't quite work exactly how they do. It's a simple, no-nonsense version with all the teams available.

A few funny issues:
* The character models and skins that you can choose from are almost entirely identical for most players.
* The commentary has some bizarre mis-speakings (mistranslations?)
* The interface is not totally user friendly. We'd been playing for about a year when we realised one part of the screen was not just flavour detail and was actually a button!

But those don't really affect the game. Just violent, silly, good fun.

So I played Blood Bowl 2 before this, and I honestly like this alot more than 2. So let me just give you a list of things I like with this game over the sequel.

1. Blood, every time you knock someone down they leave a splatter of blood. (2 doesn't have this..Wtf.)
2. Armor variety: As your players level up, their armor gets cooler and cooler instead of looking like everyone else throughout your career. (2 also doesn't have this.)
3. 23 races for just buying the game as is. No DLC, no nothing. Just get the game, and you've got it all. (2 has like 16 race DLC of which all are about 6-7$)
4.Nicer team creation: Instead of picking patterns like in 2, you just choose from a list of colors and pick your emblem. Now I can just have a yellow or purple team without some crappy design thrown over it.
5. I can finally make use of the wizard in this.
6. Way better single player experience, while BB2 is much bigger with multiplayer.
7. Map variety: If you've played Blood Bowl 2, every game you're gonna have the same old field. Lame I know, meanwhile Blood Bowl 1 puts you in the Chaos Wastes, a crypt, a Norse village, a pirate ship, and more. It's just nice to have that variation.

And that ladies and gentlemen, is my list for why I prefer Blood Bowl Chaos Edition, over Blood Bowl 2.

Interesting and enjoyable game of a version of football. Would love the game to perhaps be more football-like with regular downs and without a time limit but those things could be optional for people who like a shorter, faster game.

Pretty entertaining.

AI is about 90% better than in BB2, which makes pc vs npc not so dreadful like it is in BB2 + the game is overall more appealing with the customisation options and less censor (especially female models).
Would be great if this game had more MP players.

The gfx are similar to those that Overlord 2 had, nice. This game basically has more of everything, except players compared to BB2

I like dynamic permanent blood splatters you leave on the field

Kalsonic

It lacks modding compatibility, so it's more of a 3/5 for me. Great atmosphere, hilarious commentary, good ol' Blood Bowl. Just wish it had better modding support that's all.

It is the old style rules (so 1st ed) with all of the original teams (no DLC) although I am sure the computer cheats, it is not difficult to win.

Playing campaigns where your team starts with 1000 skill points against AI teams starting with 1400 skill points is just dumb. In real life, yea, you have this sort of skill inequality and you deal with it, but this is a game that you play for fun. There is no strategy you can use to beat this because of how the game depends on literal rolls of the dice and how those extra skill points can be used to boost/negate dice rolls. The game just wastes your time with vain contests that you'd be better off forfeiting through so your players don't die.

It has some bugs (which the original non-chaos edition did not have) but nothing game breaking. It is still fun after so many years.

This is an easy yes from me.

It's great fun. The setting is creative and funny, and the game itself is stimulating. It plays at a nice pace-- not too fast, but there's a timer encouraging you to take your turns in a timely manner. You can play several full games in, say, an hour. There's a whole MESS of teams, each with they own visual style and, more importantly, play style. It's amazing to me how different every match up is. You will play each team differently, and you will play each team differently against every other team.

I have fun playing single player against the AI. Yes, RNG is a thing, but if you pay attention you can minimize its impact.

Finally, one of the best things I can say about the game is that you can remote play with friends. I've already played online with several of my friends who do not own the game and we had a great time.

Just a warning or two: My understanding is that the online community for this game is nonexistent and most people have moved on to Blood Bowl 2. I got this on sale and am having a great time with personal friends and with the single-player, but there it is. Also, I had to edit a text file to uncap my framerate. It was easy.

Turn based strategy. I like this kinda thing. And I love football. So good combo and lots of fun. If you are not a fan of some wackyness or randomness... might not enjoy.

It's addicting, it is so satisfying to beat the opposing team to death, then stomp what's left into the dirt.

It's a faithful rendition of the board game. Quite enjoyable. Unfortunately, Steam Achievements for this seem to be broken.

Still recommended, although you might want to opt for the updated Blood Bowl 2, or wait for Part 3 to be released.

Cheap and a good representation of the board game. Well, before GW released the new editions about a year ago anyways.

It has resolution problems and after adjusting them graphics look ugly and there are still strange flickering near the models of the players. It's the classical low-quality warhammer game syndrome:(

I prefer this to BBLE. A.I is easy to beat, & even easier in Hard mode. Still prefer the boardgame tho

Namick
Namick

I've had some great times with Bloodbowl, but a lot of times where RNG, isnt even RNG its just "same result. same result. same result" to incredibly low odds.
I feel more often than not re-rolls either become exactly what you need, or exactly the same thing you had before, including in the exact same slots.

Basically my biggest issue with the game, and what frustrates me is the RNG is just not being RNG. I'm fine with getting my butt kicked, But I want some variety of whats happening, not 3 knockdowns in a row, with basic level injuries for every knockdown. And that goes for either side.

Zythix
Zythix

Another terrible game by Cyanide where rng is nonexistent. If only someone competent would make a blood bowl game.

Your Buddy
Your Buddy

Way better than BBII. Waiting to see how BBIII goes.

Ukaber

Probably the most high risk dice rolls I've experienced in the board game. Most slip-ups cause your turn to END. Risk management is your best friend here. I love this game for that pureness.
