A new all city king

Game is just great, the art, the soundtrack, the absolutely crazy story, it's everything I wanted from a Jet Set Radio future successor. The combat and police system aren't perfect, but the overall game is just so good and so fun that I'm hoping they continue this.

Easiest way to describe it is Jet Set Radio 2.0. If you grew up liking JSR, you'll like this game. Mechanics are easy to pick up (maybe a little too so) and there were maybe 2-3 combat sections that kinda suck. But overall the game has a style and charm to it that makes it a blast. The OST is also killer.

I DIG IT! This game is a BLAST to just skate around and tag walls. The music is great (I wish there were more tracks). The story is actually not too bad and pretty entertaining. I would recommend this for people who like skate and other platformers.

Great game with great soundtrack. Best alternative to the poor Jet Set Radio port on steam. Only problem is that the combat could use a little more polish.

Also, the OST on steam includes mp3 and wav files for all songs.

As everybody has pointed out, this is a spiritual successor to the Jet-Radio games, a truly unique series. I enjoyed the game, controls are fluid, tagging is fun, and the amount of tags you can unlock is pretty cool. The music is great but does get tiring. I started playing spotify in the background on a BRC channel I found and then did smart shuffle just so I can listen to something new.

As fun as this game is, it does have some major issues/oversights in game design. My biggest issue is how easy it is to get the police on you. It's really frustrating trying to completely tag an area, you rack up some stars, the police are on you and it's pain in the ass to remove your wanted level. Once you do, you start tagging again but it only takes a handful before you are back to 3 or 4 stars, rinse, repeat. The final boss is difficult for all the wrong reasons, you have no control over the camera and you are constantly grinding, jumping from rail to rail.

I feel like they tried a little THPS element in this with the trick competitions to get the highest point, but you are just spamming tricks, getting the multiplier up and then execute specials over and over again it's real easy to get double even triple whatever score you have to beat.

Also, all characters do the same thing so why would I want to play anybody else other than the main character? You are forced to play as the other two main characters for a very, very brief moment...why bother? Should just have a create-a-character feature, or make it so each character has special areas only they can unlock or items only they can collect.

The story is really simple, and predictable. It doesn't hurt the game, but it doesn't help it either.

I am nitpicking though. Really good game, but not perfect. I think most people will enjoy this even if they never played the Jet/Radio games.

Incredible game I've been playing it mainly on the OLED steamdeck and wow it looks amazing the colours really pop. It plays like JSFR but with more freedom it's really fun world to rip around, stack trick combos and tag up reminds me of playing hours of THPS. This games easily in my top 5 of this year.

The year is 2003, you just finished school, your mom bought you Jet Set Radio. You crack open a bag of doritos and you're excited to try out Jet Set Radio. Life's good.

Fast forward 20 years, you just finished your 9 to 5 job, your girl yells at you because you just bought another video game. No chips left in the pantry. Life sucks. You can at least feel joy once again playing this game, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk takes you back to the good days.

beautiful, true to the style of older jet set radio games in both graphics and audio. very similar in spirit. however, skating/grinding and their respective challenges felt too forgiving. not once in my playtime did I feel challenged or satisfied with the core mechanics of the game. story is also bare-bones, but that is the least of its worries.

it's a good game, but definitely not for full price.

This game is the platonic ideal of what Jet Set Radio wanted to be, the funky dream of what THPS kids wanted to look like, and it's all moddable. Not only this was worth the wait and your money, it is worth every second of your time with only a bit of padding on the story.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is only done when you are.

Just had a smile on my face playing this game, pretty much all that needs to be said :)

So glad to see Team Reptile hitting it big, as a fellow dutchie it warms my heart. I just love how much polish and love is put into this. Absolutely wonderful experience.

ALMOST a Masterpiece

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a spectacular game for every fan of Jet Set Radio and for new players too. It's impossible not to compare it to that beloved series, but it truly improves almost any feature JSR and JSRF had.
Character design, environments, playability, graffittis, tricks, esthetics... everything is superb and better than the old series,( I don't mention music because it goes with each taste, and I personally feel that JSR music was better, maybe it's age) BUT... one of the most beautiful aspects of JSR was it's vives. Music flowed along characters moves, cutscenes and Dj Professor K broadcasts, but cutscenes in BRC feel empty and dull. During Cutscenes, music volume fades and characters stay still, and one missess DJ Professor K's humor and screams between stages. If devs could improve direction and flow in cutscenes, this game would be an absolute masterpiece and no one would miss JSR.

Combat sucks, heat mechanic sucks, rather just replay JSRF.

Might change review after playing more, but I am just turning this off for now and gonna keep playing JSRF on CXBX.

The style is on point though, love the graphics and music so far. Just keep getting annoyed by the game before getting very far.

One of the most underrated Indie games of 2023. I don't often write reviews for games, but this deserves a shoutout! If you liked the original Jet Set Radio franchise, this is almost a strict improvement in every aspect with devs still updating to make the user experience more enjoyable (which would have been my only complaint). Just have a good time and go ALL CITY!

Hands down one of the best experiences I have had in gaming in a while. First Team Reptile made an amazing sequel to Lethal League, and now straight up telling Sega, "yeah we can't wait anymore so we're going to make JSR but dial it up to 1000"

Big shouts out to Team Reptile for making such unique experiences.

Now... Where is BRC Future????

it looks nice, but it's not very fun. combat is annoying, levels are weirdly sprawling and confusing, missions are repetitive. the game is challenging in the wrong ways. i kind of liked it for the first hour or two, but afterwards playing it was a chore.

I have a hard time putting it down! JSRF was a favorite growing up, and I've always been sad that series died out (until very recent announcements). BRCF is in nearly every way what i wanted from Sega, and it's currently my #1 go-to game. I cannot hype it enough. This game is a blast!

Bro, c'mon, just buy it.

Shorter game, schnasty shmovement, stylish as hell, pays homage to it's roots, psychedelic as hell. It's sick.

There's already a surplus of mods, including one that let's you add whatever songs you want into the game. The soundtrack is already stacked after leaving the first few areas, but it becomes even zestier with older Naganuma works and some extra 2 Mello.

It's all about flow.

Wrathios

Too expensive for a 7 hour story mode. Get it on sale and it'd definitely be worth it

-small cast of playable characters (every character should've been playable at least after end game)
-no multiplayer
-no mini games like time trials
-no custom graffiti

opinion-
the twist sucks, but story is fun
