If you liked vampire survivors you'll like this. Great new take on the same rogue-like formula, great flavor and pixel art.

Very fun "Vampire Survivor Like" and an interesting take on the genre.
Instead of having different weapons, you summon minions that fight for you.
You can also unlock different classes which let you summon different cooler minions or have other abilities.
Speaking of unlocks, this game has a very good progression curve unlike much of the genre.
Unlocking new abilities, classes, as well as enemies that will spawn on the map.
These upgrades are generally rather large as well. No 5% attack bonus's here.
The map is also not infinitely large like much of the genre and is rather small.
To counter the small map, the game allows you to actually customize it prior to runs. Placing traps and buffs.
That is only the main mode. The game also has an interesting new game plus mode as well as a card game built in.
Art and music is very good. Lots of boner jokes, as well as Meldus Time?
Overall incredibly worth $3 especially if you even remotely like the genre.

This is a great game that you can play with one hand, with the other you can use to pray the gospel of Jesus and find salvation in your life.

Screw Vampire Survivors.

Got banned from their Steam forums for congratulating Stephanie Sterling as a writer for their game as "flame baiting". The Dev is stupid and always has something up his ass. Rude guy. Glad I bought Boneraiser Minions 10x better than that piece of garbage. Anyways, good job devs loving your game. Hella good.

2 things that win me over in particular is the endless mode and leaderboards. I see a lot of these Vampire Survivors clones although VERY good and way better than the original but lack these essential features. Global leaderboards and endless mode really extends the shelf life tremendously so I feel like I have always a reason to play this game so I can beat other peoples scores in global leaderboards.

I've played a lot of these Vampire Survivors clones this one is pretty much the best. I think it's better than 20 Minutes til Dawn. Wonderful game though but the Leaderboards and endless mode win me over. Again thanks for the awesome game very fun.

What a fun game! For this price? Sir. Are you kidding me Sir? Sir. Sir. Are you kidding me Sir?

The play styles of the Necromancers feel different. Each scale in their own way. You like Boneraiser Minions. Some are better at some things than others. And some are just better overall though.
The Liche is king of dps for example.
Vampire could be even better because of the insane amounts of HP it can generate. You like Boneraiser Minions. Had a game with over 5k hp without trying. Just to name a couple.
There isn't a long grind to unlock whatever you are aiming for.
The enemies scale pretty well and there is always the threat of being caught out.
Cool music, though the overlaps are a bit janky sometimes. You love it. Sound effects are also on point.
Lots of customisation and hats! You cannot resist Boneraiser Minions. All are free and you collect them as you play.
Fun bosses, but I always wish for more! To resist is hopeless. I still think they are a little bit too easy to beat for some Necromancers.
Plenty of game modes to get high scores on!
About the dev. I made some suggestions back in the day when the demo came out and I'm very pleased to see a lot of those ideas were implemented! Your existence is meaningless without Boneraiser Minions. The dev listens and I'm sure is going to be a great success! Hopefully also keep the game updating with new stuff.

For the game on it's own...7/10. Some things could be improved sure. However. Sir. Did you see the price Sir? Sir. This is a ten ez Sir.

10/10 buy it already

Excellent game, you start off as nothing, and slowly build yourself into a competent boneraising commander,
All upgrades make the game more and more playable.
You have 100 health, and depending on the enemy swarms, and your chosen minions, you will either flourish, or die a swift death.
Accumulation of gold is quick through even 1 hour of play through, I've gotten enough upgrades to help make future runs longer, and plentiful.
The relics you pick up along the way are also great additions :)
The game alerts you as the enemy is growing stronger and stronger. Even by 1.5 minutes, it's very quick to get swarmed, if you don't have the right minions.
First time unlocks are [?] Unknown to you until you unlock it, even the same character, upgrading a level is not known to you, till you have successfully unlocked
3-second-countdown timer after each recruit, [your bone collecting level upgrade] - Which is skippable.
The minions spawn out of the ground, ie. anywhere.
Eventually you can upgrade your mausoleum, and add elements which helps you survive.
Great pixel aesthetic and helps the overwhelming swarms feel super strong. You can pixelate or define the object in settings.

What sets this apart from VS, is the mystery of the upgrades, the loot can disappear if you don't get there fast enough [also upgradeable] and the types of upgrades. You're not upgrading yourself during game, you're recruiting an army that slowly gets larger to further help defend you [live longer - higher score etc]
Progress per level up is defined by %, and each bone picked up shows you the percentage increase.

Very quick to attract. The mystery behind it is also great.

If you love skeletons, you'll love this game. Decomposed zombies you recruit to do thy bidding.
The text is the most janky part of this game. It's a bit weird sometimes in grammar, but it is still early access.
Great content otherwise, keeps you hooked, and wanting to play more after you quit! :)
Very controller friendly! Works instantly with Gamepad. You can customize setting in-game as well for what you would like it to look like, [ if you want it to be different]

Just buy it, support this amazing access, and help alleviate some stress in your life. If you enjoyed all the aspects of Vampire Survivor, you will love this just as much, or more :)

A pixel combination of a bullet hell, rts and some other genres, Boneraiser Minions has replay value, peepee jokes, peepee puns, a good soundtrack and more. You play a BONER RAISER (a.k.a a waifu) and- wait, no, maybe, you play a BONERAISER and you run around grabbing goodies as you create undead MINIONS to protect you from the hordes of enemies that chase after you. There's a variety of gameplay modes including a card game. The peepee jokes are the most important thing - enemies blast their loads at your little boners.

tl;dr buy this game and play it

You lookin' for a boner? You've come to the right place. As plentiful reviews will tell you this game Rocks Hard! Its a huge bar to set for this game to be this cheap but full of loads of content and so addicting. I love the soundtrack to this, couple of tunes I wouldn't mind having as a ringtone. Absolutely amazing game, I bought this game because I thought it looked cool, and it turns out, not only is it a cool game, but it's extremely funny and fun as well. This game absolutely hits it, from the soundtrack to the replayability of it, it's just insane. For only being 3 dollars, this has to be one of the best purchases of my life ngl. Honestly, I highly recommend this game, especially if you're looking for a cheap game and you have hours to kill. I actually ended up 100 percenting the game in less than 24 hours lol, I got extremely hooked ngl.

Timestopper
Timestopper

What the hell, this game is so confusing. It is very hard to see what is going on, you have no idea who are allies or enemies and your 'spells' are all one-offs that you get extremely rarely, meaning that most of the game you just stand semi still in the centre hoping that your minions take care of everything while you twiddle your thumbs.
The progression is knowing more and more what stuff is and do, but everything looks like everything else, so you have to read all the descriptions that often are not very clear and mostly offers no actual stats to compare things with.

It's very cheap but just not for me.

Fun, addicting, and one of the best games in it's subgenre. Has great humor, and really good gameplay.

FakeKraid
FakeKraid

A charming entry in the "Survivor-like" fad genre, with a minor twist in that your avatar is largely passive, instead raising minions to fight for you. It plays nicely, has an enjoyably spooky-goofy aesthetic, and a gameplay loop short enough for quick play sessions. If the dev continues to fill out the features enough it'll definitely become a game worth far more than its current price, and it's already more consistent fun than a lot of better-known games in the genre.

γλέπω

Holy shit / 10.
This game has a consistent and BEAUTIFUL retro pixelized style with a limited and purposeful color palette. The in-game descriptors for items and creatures and options are all presented in a fun way and are all dripping with personality. And the music?

The basic game play is similar to a "Survivors" type game, with many persistent Roguelite elements. This game offers serious changes/improvements and an overhaul to the genre that's been blowing up recently.

Absolutely toppest of notches.

I got home from a long day of work, decided to give this game a shot and... It is now 1 AM. This might be the most fun game I have bought on steam, just get it.

The amount of upgrades that you can get is amazing, and the pacing feels really great. I started off not really understanding the point until I had hordes of demons and giants at my beckoning call. Brilliant colors, brilliant classic music, one of the few genuinely rewarding progression systems. The upgrades really make a difference. Not to mention you can customize the map you play on to give you specific buffs based on your playstyle! It blew my mind seeing this feature after all of the other upgrade systems they had in place.

The dev team clearly knows what they are doing and put so much love into this game, show them some support you won't regret it.

This game is awesome. Great addition to the Vampire Survivors-like genre:
-Impactful and varied meta progression systems
-Necromancer gameplay (I love necromacy in games)
-Satisfying runs that don't take too long

Definitely recommend if you like the genre.

What a great game! Definitely has the Vampire-Survivors-type roguelite vibe with an interesting twist that raising minions to fight for you bring. The round length is perfect and I appreciate the leaderboard-top score stuff for each map/round. The price and replayability is insane. Ah yes, I do like the ye-olde-English writing, too. Looking forward to playing a lot more! Man, sometimes I wish that this type of game had some sort of multiplayer functionality. I know that changes the dynamic a lot, but a co-op version with strong baddies would be fun! This game definitely deserves its overwhelmingly positive reviews.

You choose a class and gradually build an army of minions for the endless waves of enemies that will get stronger over time. Also, your strategy will depend on which relics and spells you choose.

It also has other game modes, such as Clashful Cards, which is very entertaining like a more complex Tic-Tac-Toe.

Excellent visual style, entertaining music and good replayability, the latter especially if you want to get the achievements.

Best of all, at the time of writing this review, it's still in early access. The game could be considered complete, but knowing that they intend to add more content makes it even better. And at a very cheap price!

If you liked what you saw in the trailer, then without any doubt, buy it.

UIY
UIY

Poorly designed, the only thing you do is walk around and pick up bones, it looks like you can unlock skills to use during play but that's not the case, all you get to do is read the flavor text of stuff that's not actually in the game or doesn't work properly.

I really wanted to like this game but the resolution and how this game looks really turns me off to it. The text and font all feels way to big and the map is too small and it just doesnt give you much to work with.

An absolute steal for the price. Also has a card game eerily similar to the 9th installment of a very popular fantasy franchise of games. I very much enjoy this, along with the other game callbacks, like "Amazing chest ahead!". Dev is a nerd and I love it, there's a lot to unpack here for everyone.

Arkosh
Arkosh

The best of its kind. The leaderboards and dayly/weekly challenges are a nice touch once you complete everything else in the "main story path".

Also, the card minigame is quite interesting. Although seems a bit RNG to get a proper challenge imo, most rounds are fine but a few feel either too easy or imposible. Maybe limiting the sum of the cards of each player within a certain range?

Overview:

Sound: 7/10 - I'll go out on a "limb" here and say most people will like it.

Graphics: 7/10 - Animations are a bit "stiff" *Just RIBBING ya* They look good

Plot: -/10 - A bit "bare bones"

Game Play: 8/10 - You will bone, you will get boned. You'll suck until you learn to properly suck bones, then as you start to get confident, you'll realize you are only at the tip... of the game's content, of course. What were you thinking of? Perv.

Overview:

This game is well above average, though one's mileage will vary. With daily "seeds" you'll be able to stretch the "length" of this game quite a bit. Which, for the price, is hard to "beat". Summon minions instead of typical Bullet Heaven upgrades, "harden" their resolve by merging them into GIANT MEMBERS (of your army). Meta progression here is satisfying and hits you just right, although with how quick you'll unlock everything it may leave you wanting, thirsty for more of that bone. Characters feel different enough and nice additions like customizing traps and perks in your graveyard make each player's experience fairly unique.

TLDR:
Would bone again.

IN FU***ING-FURIATING CONTROLLER CONTROL OPTIONS..
I have played a damn puzzle in the menu just by trying to set the controls.
Because changing those controls your stuck changing more than It needs over and over.

It would be ****ing GREAT if the dev picked up a controller and TRIED this bloody mess for themselves instead of what ever shortcut they are using to emulate the experience as NO one in their sane mind would allow this BS to be this obnoxious.

Been on a big single stick shooter kick and I have to say, this one does a good job of kicking your ass early on. This changes the way you're probably used to playing.

Visuals are really good (can get a little cluttered at times which makes things hard to see), music is top notch, and the level up system during runs is really interesting and does a good job at setting itself apart from some of the other single stick shooters out there.

Seems like there is a lot to unlock and it also seemed like you can unlock stuff pretty quickly. Well worth the price. Just get it

I played it a little, I'm good with 8bit/retro graphics, but the graphics are so bad sometimes its hard to even know what things are, its a little too all over the place. I like the concept of having minions instead of my hero getting boosted, but I'm just having a really hard time getting into it, and I LOVE me some roguelike/survival games. Played quite a few of those indie low budget ones and couldn't get enough, but this one I'm struggling to get into. I realize I'm not in the majority here, but to each their own...

Maeng Da Ranger
Maeng Da Ranger

With endless hours of deadly fun and witty innuendos, you'll surely be punching yourself in the pants time and time again for not playing this game sooner. Boneraiser Minions is a rather unassuming game on the surface with a great deal of character and charm packed tightly within. There are virtually no limits, within reason that is, to how you can play this game. Want to pound your enemies into a bloody soup? Conjure forth a legion of undead giants! Want to flood the field with lightning-fast reapers and trap-setting imps? Do it, nothing is stopping you!
Endless playability and customization aside, the music and in-game art are a tremendous feast for the ears and eyes. The pixel work pops with vibrant shades of blue, green, purple, and yellow without giving you a headache, even after hours of straight play time. The music interestingly enough saunters between playful, oddly heroic, and dismal. I do not know how they made the tracks fit so well, but they did. I even listen to a couple of tracks here and there as well, and in my book that tends to confirm that a dev team struck gold.

Do yourself a favor and buy it, I guarantee you'll love it.

Great game for the price. Just finished my first play session of 4 hours and I would say already worth the money. Fun game, good art, good music for whats there, but hope to hear some more tracks.

♣

For the record, you'd better be okay with boner jokes, because almost every single line in this game is one of them. I was never particularly interested in Vampire Survivors, but I love Boneraiser. Maybe it's the aesthetics, maybe it's the twist on the gameplay where your damage and effects come from a bunch of little dudes wandering around you rather than from yourself, maybe it's all the stuff to upgrade. I also really like the initial "discovery" period, where everything is obscured until you choose it. There's a handful of characters to unlock with different skill trees that enhance various playstyles (focusing on acquiring certain minion types, or amassing an army of as many level 1 guys as you can, or collecting spells), and there are all sorts of cool little things like setting up reusable traps before you start and the seal/banish/reroll systems to help get more of the items and minions you want. Also it's like...insanely cheap. I almost feel bad for paying so little.

My only real complaint - and it's hardly one - is that it can get pretty hard to differentiate what can hurt you when you're dodging a bunch of differently-colored particles and characters on screen. There are options to put outlines around you and/or your enemies to help with this, but it only does so much. Enemies are outlined in red or pink, but you can also summon bright red demon minions, and your character can wear those and other similar colors... Fortunately this doesn't become much of an issue until fairly late in the game, but if you're playing NG+ it can get wild.

I honestly don't know what I was expecting when I picked this up but it wasn't this hilarious & fun. All my playtime at the time of review was my first session that I couldn't pull myself away from. Absolutely worth the asking price. Not just a VS clone.

Griggith

There is so much game here its crazy. Its probably my favorite VS clone. Not only is it wave based but you get to decide how brutal each wave is, you get to customize the battleground placing traps about that you can activate, theres different classes that all play very unique to eachother, and to top it off your a necromancer. 10/10.

Polyglamorous

Another excellent entry in the VS-like category. Unlike others of its kind, Boneraiser Minions centers around summoning minions that attack for you rather than wielding weapons yourself, and it has a very extensive upgrade/unlock system between runs. Another interesting aspect that sets it apart from others of its genre is that you spend gold to upgrade the enemies as well; more enemies means more bones to summon more minions, and as you upgrade your own skills having more enemy variety is interesting. For $3, this is a steal.

Squid
Squid

This is easily my favorite survivor game. It gives you a lot of interesting choices to improve your army. Since your main source of attack is through your minions you have to decide if you want more attack sources or more dps. Minions can also be sacrificed for new powers. This is a tough choice since it could potentially cripple you if you are not careful. Also, since your minions do all the damage it's your job to not die (obviously) but it also means not getting separated from your army.

There is only one arena but you get to build it yourself with bonuses you choose. This offers more strategy that I haven't seen in other survivor games. The rounds of the game are shorter than other survivor games but it makes up for it by getting straight to the point. The game isn't afraid to hit you hard early on. Boss fights actually feel like proper fights. It took me about 5 hours to "beat" the game the first time but only once I had a majority of the meta upgrades.

Pair all of this gameplay with good music/sounds, visuals, jokes and the spooky theme. If any of this sounds appealing then give it a try. I'm glad I did

MrMcAwesome
MrMcAwesome

Great value for money and such an addictive "one more go" kind of game.
Bullet Heaven seems to be a rising sub/genre at the moment (Steam will need to categorise it soon) and if you're into this kind of game then I would recommend adding this to your collection as well; it's apparently getting actively updated weekly, there are heaps of goodies and unlocks and plenty of things to get you those dopamine hits. :p
There are a lot of comparisons to Vampire Survivors but to be honest I think both contrast/compliment to each other - I'm playing both side by side at the moment, and I like the graphics of Boneraiser better, but uncovering the secrets in Vampire are a lot more intriguing; this game has things to unlock but doesn't have that mystique about it - however in this can pretty much build in any way and still have something competitive to stand up against the armies of lightness.

I hope he dev/devs keep up the great work and I have to join the other reviewers here who also passed along their thanks - this is definitely a great "in-between" game if you're in game limbo.
