Thoroughly enjoyed Bottle. The music and world were serene. Played through twice for the second mode, which altered the perspective and gave a second ending to the story. Loved this game.

Bottle

Positives:
+ You can play it two times with different filters and ending
+ Nice atmosphere
+ Nice music
+ Fine landscapes
+ The black/white filter
+ The letters

Negatives:
- The basic filter in normal mode is bad and should have been removed
- A lot of aliasing and no anisotropic filtering
- Very short
- The weird talking coming from the woman is quite annoying (as it often is in real life too)
- Leaves a lot to be desired

Total Score: 7/10

Not bad, not good, somewhere in the middle ~30 minute short walking simulator. The game isn't terrible for the low price of 39 cents, just lower your expectations and you should be moderately happy with this product.

It's pretty, like the others before it, but TOO SLOW. At least walk a little faster. That was deathly slow. Music was better, though and for longer which made the walk more enjoyable. Didn't really understand the backwards talking lady. Maybe I was drunk throughout the walk.

Bottle is a beautiful puzzle game. This is the Unreal engine put to good use.

I can't recommend this, in spite of nice music and something pretty to look at, simply because it lacks depth. The store is rather flat, sadly, and there's not really much to explore. I'd really wish there had been something more to the notes.

Maybe it's my fault for expecting more, but unless you really enjoy looking at trees and snow and nothing more for 20 minutes at a time, this is not for you.

A walking simulator I cannot recommend unfortunatly.
The game is worth it's 99cents yet it feels raw, empty, unfinished.
Sure it has nice graphics, just add a bunch of effects and blinking lights to cover up that there is nothing to explore.
The whole point of a walking simulator is to get totally lost in the atmosphere and environment.
This however, feels like a unfinished empty Gmod server on Unreal.
I have bought Drizzlepath as well, will try it. If it gives me the same feeling I will never ever support this dev again.

TLDR: Next to no narrative. Limited content. Barely a showcase of unreal4 engine. Wonder if assets were purchased.

HOLD W for 40 mins. Follow dirtpath in winter forest. Unbelievably streched out empty trails with the same recycled winter assets over and over. The few rare landmark inclusions are just empty shells with nothing inside. Literally cardboard cutouts. Nothing is interactable except a sprite of a woman. She disappears into a paper note that you can read for vague fluff text. After 40 mins you find a bottle in a wooden shack and you find the end credits. The game tries to pretend it is artsy by making it a message about being alone or something and messages in bottles but it is pretty blatant and smacks you across the face with it. Kind of insulting too seeing as how this is just some low quality unreal 4 with bad winter effects, too much sparkling light effects that create this silly christmas feel, pointlelss film grain on top of the camera, disabled run button and no environment interaction such as making footsteps in the snow even. Audio was lackluster with boring piano droning on endlessly.

This game very much left me bewildered. I got this in a bundle a year ago, opened it up today to a very skyrim feeling blank snow world. Sure, graphics arent half bad, but it was just basic assets from Unreal 4. Not sure what the story was, there were few structures, all empty and nothing to do with them. The notes the woman left felt like they were done in 30 seconds after reading a sad romantic novel. I understand its a walking simulator, but even Everyone's Gone to the Rapture was better than this.

The most beautifu game I've ever played! The graphic effects are really gorgeous, the atmosphere, the clouds, they are all part of the fairy tale. And it'd been really considerate to put out a walk noir mode to go through the process in black tape mode. Impressive!

Well, I'm going back to the classics today with Tonguc Bodur's Bottle. I've played this now a total of four times (two normal run-throughs and two Noir mode playthroughs), for a total of less than an hour and a half.

If that doesn't tell you all you need to know about this game, no need to fear. I've got the scoop: Bottle is yet another TB walking simulator with nonsense poetry, caves, and stock assets, but this time we've got a new twist--an even more trite metaphor than usual.

You see, you play as a man that was left by a woman, so he's lonely, and as many lonely men do, he replaces the companionship of his partner with--you guessed it--a bottle of wine. You start out in an exorbitantly decorated wooden shack with a bottle of wine in front of you, then you walk down a patch reading some random notes you find as you chase the mirage of your ex-lover. Eventually (and it feels like it takes half your life) you reach a wooden shack near a lake where you find one of two endings, depending on whether you are playing in Noir mode or not. Protip: you're a sad drunk either way, like in a few other TB games I can recall.

And just in case those turns of events don't drive the point home, Tonguc has made it even clearer by making your menu cursor in the shape of a wine bottle, and flat-out telling you in the last memo you pick up. So, you know, that way you know you're a deep, intellectual soul when you understand the deep moral message.

Also, as in most TB games, you're surrounded by insipidly beautiful scenery. I will say this game really tones down the scenery compared to games like Drizzlepath. It also tones down the characteristic voiceovers that we know and love. There is only one line of monologue in the main game, which occurs if you try to leave your house without your coat. Interestingly, this is the only TB game I've played thus far (note: I have not yet played The Hunting God) with a male narrator. In Noir mode, you get a fourth wall-breaking joke hidden in the game.

For those of you not familiar with this genre of game, let me break it down just a little bit: you hold the W key. You look around. In this particular iteration, you open two doors and pick up 4-5 notes. You get three speed boost pickups. There is one completely skippable jumping section that lasts 10 seconds. The whole thing lasts 20 minutes. AKA a complete non-game.

My main question for the developer is: If you are going to make a game this close to just being a short film, why not just cut out the tedium of the interactions and make it completely non-interactive? It would be more fun. I see "relaxing" tagged up there in the description, but there is a fine line between relaxing and infuriatingly boring which has been firmly crossed in this instance. You just hold W and wait for something, anything to happen, and that wish is not granted.

So, in a nutshell, what I like about this game is that it is much shorter than other TB games like Drizzlepatch: Genie, and that there's no faux intellectual babble so you can talk through the whole run and not miss anything. What I don't like is the boring music, no button that automatically walks without holding W, and that nothing happens. Oh, and that there's some shameless self-referential advertising thrown in, which just makes TB's hard-translated-from-Turkish kindergarten metaphors even shallower. Therefore, I find myself unable to recommend this game.

Tonguc: If you're reading this, man, I swear I will recommend Drizzlepath when I replay it. That is a jolly good time. I promise I don't just write these vitriolic reviews out of some personal spite in my heart against you. It's just that these games are neither relaxing or fun or illuminating in any way. Drizzlepath was honest-to-goodness fun, so one of these days I'm going to play it again and review it positively because I like it. Promise.

Just a game to walk around in a lovely sparkly winter setting, with very pleasant piano music for company. I wanted a non-challenging peaceful game and for the most part, that is what this is. I personally did not like the jumping puzzles, because I had never played a game with jumping (the learning curve was higher for me than it will be for you perhaps). A personal note here: I was married to an alcoholic, so I have no sympathy at all for those who have this disease. If that makes me cold, so be it. Still, I played through to the end, making about as much sense of the story as can be made in an alcoholics’ hazy mind. I was glad to play it, and just as glad to finish it; make of that what you will. My recommendation is for the music and the lovely scenery.

Admittedly, I have not played a lot of walking simulators, but this game finally made me interested in the genre. The imagery and graphics in Bottle are really cool, and that's what makes this game bearable as a game. It has a very vague but relatively intriguing story that carries you along to completion (which happens incredibly fast). It's not a long or complicated game, for sure. It only took me an hour to finish it on regular mode, and then another hour for Noir Mode. (Also, I don't recommend playing Noir mode unless you absolutely can't live without the achievement that comes along with it. Noir mode was just kind of strange and grainy and in the cave, you can hardly see where you're going. I got stuck there and had to reboot. The only difference is a slight twist to the ending that doesn't help to clarify the ending you already got, so there's not much point . Essentially, all the things I liked about the game originally were ruined by Noir mode. Other than those few things, I enjoyed it. The soundtrack is good, the imagery is good, the puzzles are alright, and I can appreciate the fact that it made me more interested in other walking simulator games.

A short (30 minutes) walking sim that seems to drag on forever. Story is extremely thin, world is sparse and barely populated, and graphics (Unreal 4) are oddly blurry (even with Motion Blur turned off and Resolution Scaling set to 100%) while distance textures are extremely low-res. There is an alternate “Noir” mode that plunges you into an alternate-reality, grainy black-and-white aesthetic with a different “story.” But despite some beautiful music, Bottle had difficulty keeping me engaged. Look for it in a bundle, but otherwise don’t bother.

“I go to sleep alone, and wake up alone. I take walks. I work until I'm tired. I watch the wind play with the trash that's been under the snow all winter. Everything seems simple until you think about it. Why is love intensified by abscence?” ― Audrey Niffenegger, The Time Traveler's Wife

Bottle is one of Tonguç Bodur's earlier games, presented to the community sometime last year. He has been kind enough to present me a copy of its sequel, Bottle: Pilgrim to review, but I felt that I needed to play its predecessor first, in purpose of treating the story progression and presentation fairly. So, here we go!

Here in this short little exploration game, we take the role of a lonesome man, who lives alone in an island. As the game begins, we take a long, yearning gulp from a bottle of wine and take a glance at a note left for us. It is a cold winter day, and the woman that we loved abandoned us recently. Maybe with the effect of alcohol, or thanks to plain melancholy, we decide to take a walk outside. As we grab our coat and take a couple of steps, we encounter her... her visage stoic, her gaze ever fixated on us. As we approach, she disappears; and the only thing left is another note. For the remainder of the game, we are to take a long walk through this winter island, following her trail and her notes, in hopes of shedding some light into the mystery of her appearance.

Well, as a walking simulation, this one is breath-taking, I must give you that straight. The environment is a majestic nature trail, during a snow-covered winter, giving you a genuine sense of desolateness. The color white dominates the landscape ferociously, and the constant snow keeps shining under the sun to present you the illusion of something being, or happening around momentarily. Yet, as you take a walk towards that direction, you discover nothing but the light, shining upon trees and rock formations to play a game on your senses. The soft vail of the winter wind persists, and you keep hearing the crackling of a branch or the crushing of some snow under your very boots. There is nothing - no one - but you, in the end.

It sure is wondrously pretty, but you cannot help yourself feeling sad. Sad in a forlorn, aching, beautiful way... the very definition of melancholy, is depicted for you in this game. As you keep walking through the white coated landscape, you start acknowledging the sharp difference between solitude and isolation. There is no horror, or even thriller element in the game. Don't expect any kind of action either. It presents you a common story of "the woman, leaving the man", and that is the beauty of it all. That man can very well be you. This island can be the topography of your state of mind. You are left alone, and there is little for you to do in hopes of mending it.

The game takes half an hour to complete in your first playthrough. Once you complete it, you are given the option to replay it in "walk noir", a feature that would present the game in black and white, which harbors a different kind of ending for the same story. Overall, I can safely recommend this beauty to whomever favors the genre, and whomever would like to witness the portrayal of a feeling, rather than actually playing a game. But for others, it could be declared unsatisfactory, since there is nothing in this game to actively participate. For me, it was a gentle work of art. Enjoy!

It's pretty, and has nice music. If you want to spend two bucks on pretty, and nice music, awesome. Felt very calm and meditative at times. If you like your games to be games, you won't like this at all.

If you want a game that has pretty scenery and nice music, and actual gameplay, check out 'Valley'; has a similar feel but you actually get to do things.

You walk along a snowy path and listen to music. The path consists mostly of copied+pasted scenery, with the occasional unique scenery. The scenery itself was pretty for an Unreal game. The music is beautiful. After 10 minutes of walking, the path ends and you hit an invisible wall. Then you need to quit the game. It seems like there will be a story when you first leave the house, but if there was it was broken for me.

Overall, unless you're want a game that's about looking a pretty scenery and nothing more, I'd say it's not worth the time or money.

Probably the worst game I've ever played. Making a walking simulator is no excuse for lack of content. You're basically walking in the same flat, boring and poorly optimised enviroment the entire game. I'd say that's alright seeing as the game is so short, if only that single view was even mildly well made. Even with everything on ultra the graphics seem outdated at best. With flowers appearing out of thin air as you walk by them, flat plants and repeating trees, animals frozen in the same movement and completely ignoring your pressence, rocks that make plastic seem realistic etc. The map is tiny and you'll find hidden walls whenever you try to step away from the road (which is often unclear, making you bang your head against the hidden walls repeatedly).
Seeing as there is no gameplay whatsoever, only a single piece of music repeating itself the whole game long, the controls feels cluncky and the movement feels extremely slow (probably to make the game seem longer than its content's worth) I fail to see where the devs actually put their time.
The game may be very cheap, but it offers pretty much nothing in return. Whereas some games in the same price range manage to make the best out of minimalism, this one clearly does not.

Conclusion: even for its extremely cheap price, this honestly isn't worth your time. As for your money, that goes without saying.

No save feature and no controller support. That's not the worst of it. You see those screen shots? Yep. That's it. That's all you get. I spent 10 minutes walking towards a castle but nope...can't go to it. Imagine Fallout 3 if you couldn't interact with anything ever or save. I think I only paid like $1 and even that was too much. Should be a free game since there is literally zero content.

Bottle is a short but meaningful experience for gamers looking to enjoy a brief story. A player's enjoyment of the game depends partly on their expectations. The game doesn't offer a large number of interactive events so it's best not to think of it as a game so much as a story being told. The elements in the story are subject to the player's own interpretation which is part of what includes the player themselves as part of the game. Bottle, therefore, should be enjoyed in the same way that one appreciates fine art.
I enjoyed my experience from playing bottle, and I did find the music to be quite nice. I would recommend bottle to those looking to be part of a short but enjoyable open-to-interpretation story.

I'm usually really good with 'walking simulator' type indie games of this nature, but unfortunately I just couldn't get through this game. The walking pace is extremely slow with no run option that I could find, with the music being super intermittent and the game in general just being super unengaging. The effect when you approach the figure of the girl and her speech is garbled is pretty cool and I feel like there's probably a really cool story concept behind the game itself, but I personally couldn't make it all the way through. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen and nothing really did. Nonetheless, the scenery is at least nice and so is the music when it plays- if you have a longer attention span than I do, you might enjoy it more.

Lengthy, indepth and full of stuff Bottle is not, but as the first in a line of walking simulators from Tonguç Bodur, as long as you know you can't save it and will finish it in around 30 minutes, you will enjoy it for what it is. It's a slow-paced relatively pleasant stroll on a wintry mountain, powered by the decent-looking Unreal Engine 4, and throws in a tiny hint of story too.

For a game of this price you certainly can't expect side missions and leveling up, but if you want a nice stroll on a snowy landscape, this is perfectly decent.

My only real qualm is the overly twee music used - frankly listening to the ambient sound was much nicer and more atmospheric.

Still, I have the rest of the man's entire resume to play and this, as his very first, was a good start.

Warning this does contain spoilers, but it is more a love letter to this game than a review.

When I first bought this, it had mostly negative reviews, but I never take things at face value. I tore through the negative reviews and found they were inaccurate (Its boring! Well, you bought a walking sim! If you wanted violence and gunfire buy FPS!) or irrelevant (no story). The few mature well written reviews convinced me to buy it and I’m so glad they did.

The main complaint people had at the time was there was not enough story or background, but I found that was the reason I loved it. I was walking through and thinking what is going, what is the story, and then I saw what looked to a vision of a person and I couldn’t make him or her out clearly, so I moved closer and person disappeared, and I dismissed it. Further down the path I saw the person again but this time slightly clearer. It was a woman and she appeared to be gesturing but I was not sure. I got closer and she disappeared.

I was curious now. Who was this woman? A ghost? A vision of the past? A memory? So, walked further down the path. Reading the notes as they appeared. The notes just gave me more questions. Further down path I saw her again and again. Each time slightly clearer and I got just slightly closer. Then the path ended. There was a lake and a shack. My questions had not been answered in the notes, nor visions of the woman, nor any narration. Then I did the only thing left to do. I opened the door to the shack. There was a table and a bottle of wine. All my questions had been answered in that moment seeing what was in that lonely shack by the lake. This was a story of a man who had lost the love of his life and his daily life was going to bed in his house in the wilderness and at the end of the day taking a walk to the shack by the lake. Visions of his lost love in equal parts haunting and reminding him. The visions of the woman and notes were that of his sub-conscious trying to cope. So, every night he goes to shack at the lake and drinks from the bottle wine they shared, and he enjoys the view they loved to share. Alone.

The way this story is handled is pure genius. In my very humble opinion. It makes you wonder, and wonder, and wonder. What is going? Then at the end with simple opening of a door. Everything is understood, and it hits you like a train. It is a tale of a romantic tragedy. A harsh realism of life that is hardly explored in video games. Let alone so expertly. Whether this method of storytelling is intentional or not I do not know. Was it budget constraints or just great story writing? Either way I do not care because it does matter.

After I bought this game I bought every game this developer has made, and I was not disappointed in the least. When a new release comes out I buy without hesitation. (Which is something I never, ever do. I research every little detail of everything I buy. I ask questions to the right people. I don’t care if the price tag is $1. I want to know what I’m buying.) I don’t always have time to play them right away, but when I do. I am never disappointed.

I don’t know if the dev read his reviews but in case he does. My message to the dev is don’t stop. You got a talent for making games. Not gimmicky games that sell you on fancy gameplay, graphics, or excessive gore/violence, but games of story and experience. I respect that. I would rather spend my time gaming enjoying a great story and listening to a beautiful soundtrack than shooting zombies.

This game has a unique, abstract story that I think is very much worth the experience IF you enjoy walking sims. Im no achievement hunter so I didn't stray far from the path, but the story, plus the second playthrough lives up to the price in my opinion. As you can see, the game is fairly short but thats why Bottle 2 is here! Ill review that one some day too, but I do recommend giving this one a shot if you have a few extra bucks.

Tonguç Bodur makes us stop and then look at what's around as well as within us. It's about the journey within both the world and the self. In this short, slow-paced walking simulator we're led along a path of reflection, like dreamily staring into a glass of wine. Gone is the need to rush, to be somewhere else fast. The enormity of life is only truly experienced when we slow down to ponder it.

Ugh. Just no.
Thankfully this is the last of this developer's games I have in my library, as I bought 3 of them up before I realised the poor quality inherent in these games.
Let's start with what it gets right and see where there is progression from Drizzlepath: Genie. To begin with, it's a lot shorter, clocking in at just over 20 minutes to complete and get all the non-nonsensical "story" collectible notes in the same go. That and the game realises how it could rapidly grate on your nerves so it scatters a couple of pickups throughout that allow you a short-term speed boost.
Also, there's done away with the horrible voiceover.
Now, onto the bad.
First off, the graphics. There are very poor. There's this overly shiny effect that's overlaid on everything. What this ends up doing is make far off forests flicker unnaturally, as if there's artillery shells falling amongst the trees in quick succession. The sky graphic is unpleasant and jarring in how unrealistic it looks. There's a ugly smudged window overlay on your view which glints in the light and makes you feel like you're playing with an astronaut's helmet on.
The audio is also terrible. The piano background does nothing except be there, and the story lacks anything in the way of a moment with impact for the music to have anything to swell to. There is no concept of footsteps in the audio's repertoire. This is a crime against the very name 'walking simulator'. It's like we're not even a human being walking, just piloting some low-flying drone throughout.
There's also a huge preponderance of invisible walls throughout which completely invalidates the "exploration" the game description extols. There's one hill in particular that has a half interesting looking castle on it. The game lets me walk three-quarters of the way up to it and then has me turn back.
These games give walking simulators a bad name. How this game still has "mixed" reviews is beyond me.
According to https://tongucbodur.myportfolio.com/bottle, once completed you unlock a new mode called Walk Noir:
"After you complete the game, another mode called "Walk Noir" is unlocked and with it you play the same game but with another atmospheric black & white filter."
Why anyone would play the same game over again and prolong the irritation except if they're a die-hard achievement hunter is beyond me.
Don't support this, expect quality from your games and hold them to standards.

Catinkontti
Catinkontti

Not much to say about this game. Bottle tells a bizzare tale about loss and player takes a 1 hour long stroll through the snowy lanscapes consisting mountains and trees. Unlike the sequel Bottle: Pilgrim this doesn't reach nearly as high for lacking certain narrative story which would take the player's attention into its grip, but remains sligtly bizzare and simple all the way. It still has its moments but I felt that they were too rare and even when the snowy landscapes and ambient piano music combined were exciting at the beginning they both keep repeating themselves and lack variation.

In any case, though, every cloud has a silver lining or in this case it was gray because after the completion there is possibility to play the game in "Noir" mode which is actually same thing as the original but with some grim and eerie features. Also the price isn't too steep and hence you shouldn't be too dissapointed even if it didn't fill all expectations.

The entirety of the game takes roughly 20 minutes to complete if you just stick to the path and don't wander around too much (there's nothing to see off the paths aside from 2 graves). There's a bit of story among 6 notes that you'll find along the way. Aside from that there's not much else to say. I can't say I'd recommend purely because I don't enjoy this genre of game but that doesn't mean others wouldn't.

Short (20min) walking simulator.
Not much to see, so if you like to wonder around, this is not for you.
If you like to get easy achievements, this is for you. (~40min/100%)

This game is honestly a step down from Drizzlepath: Genie (The second game by this developer, with this being the third). It's really short, there's nothing nice to look at and it's just straight up boring. If you're in to walking simulators like me, you can find much better than this one.

This game is very short. The story is practically non-existent. The atmoshpere is a mix of modern and fantasy which makes the game odd. I found the piano music could be relaxing but the game is much better when you turn the music off and listen to the sounds of the forest. The graphics are a bit bad but the forest is still nice. Overall it took me 1 hour to 100% it and I had to sit around for another 20mins in the menu to get the other card. I highly recommend getting this on-sale if you wish to give it a try.

Small Walking Simulator with many snow, tree, stones & less to find, but so it feel like real secrets (2 graves 6 letters). Its more a Zen game to enjoying just the way.

You should play Noir replay & interpret the lonelyness of the game.

Good for Steam Achievement Hunters.

im going to be blunt this game is boring. the story didnt hook me and for long stretches of time you just... arent doing anything but walking (which i wouldnt mind if there was more to look at than snow and that One broken down building). theres a weird filter over the game that makes everything look like a sun glare right in your face and whenever you move the mouse the entire screen blurs and gives me a headache. i played through this game 3 times (twice normal mode and once walk noir mode) and i just couldnt see the appeal.

the thing i DID like however is how unsettling the mysterious woman is. shes spooky and i dig it. i played the game 3 times to get all the achievements and to hear more of her weird voice.

there IS a deer in this game, and they look decent.

What would you say are the fundamental elements of a walking simulator? Pleasant scenery and an interesting, emotional narrative are usually what people say. Some have interaction, some have puzzles, but the excellent graphics and the narration are core.

...Bottle disagrees with you. There is no narration whatsoever, and the landscape is dull and repetitive. It's more of a tech demo showing off the developers new "Tundra landscape generator"

Nah, this can't possibly be called a game. It may look beautiful due to Unreal Engine 4, but apart from that it's nothing but a single scene where you have to walk very slowly through some snowy hills which all look the same. There scene is empty, there is no story, apparently you have to create one yourself, but the lack of substance in Bottle simply doesn't allow that. Or perhaps one needs to excessively use their imagination, but since there's no guidance in this game other than a few nonsensical notes, I just couldn't be bothered. There's also this unknown woman that likes to appear in a few places. Whenever you approach her, a recording of a few voices saying something gibberish is played backwards. Absolutely creepy. I cut that bit, reversed the audio and turns out these voices had been saying totally random words or phrases which made zero sense. So... I have no idea what this game is about, but most likely it's meant to be about whatever you want it to be, a.k.a nothing. Well, at least it's got cards.

A short walking simulator with a story open to interpretation. Beautifully rendered in a winter landscape, this is one of Tonguc Bodurs early games. You have to pick up 6 notes from a woman, find a couple of graves and enter a cave. Gentle piano music tinkles in the background. There are a couple of spots where coloured lights give you a boost of speed.
Playing the game in Walk Noir gives you more achievements. I played several times as I kept on getting interrupted! There is no save, but playthrough takes 20-30 minutes.
A gentle walk on a winter's day. Very apt for my part of the world at the moment! 7/10

I'm not sure about this game. It is really short and the story is lacking but then the price isn't too high. The game features some nice calming piano music and some nice scenery. The game-play is as is to be expected from a walking simulator game. There are also some Easter eggs to be discovered. Overall a pleasant but short experience.

Do not expect too much from this game. I can recommend it simply because I played it knowing it was a walking simulator with very little actual content to unravel, both story and game play alike. Purchase and play it knowing that you will be playing a Walking Simulator, and you will be able to enjoy it for what it is. You can expect gorgeous visuals to say the least.

5/10- Wouldn't have minded some more interactivity or perhaps a story that was a bit richer.

I love story driven walking sims. I love winter. Upon seeing this I was pretty psyched especially since there's such a low price tag attached.

Pros:
1. Nice music
2. Snow
3. The night version is very pretty (that would be the Noir experience)

In-Between:
1. The glitter popping off of the textures in the normal mode gave me motion sickness and a headache which is a totally new combination for me. I had everything on ultra settings. I don't know if that was an issue for anyone else or if I'm just unlucky.
2. I had issues trying to platform to the lady so I missed some notes. Again- that could be a me issue so it's tossed in the "in-between",

Cons:
1. Very, very tedious. The walking is slow. And boring. And long.
2. No exploration. No way to get to that castle place. I like poking around in games and it was pointless to do so here. Stay on the trail- if you can see it (in Noir this can be an issue).
3. The story is thread thin. I liked the way it was told from what I read of it (given that I missed some notes) but it was pretty light.
4. That walking....I cannot express how long and dull the walking is. I can forgive a lot when it comes to walking sims and I have a pretty low bar for what passes as "okay" here but the amount of time I spent pressing the "w" button while nothing happened felt like a literal decade.

So. I have to weigh whether pretty Noir mode and nice music is worth the hassle of the walking aspect of this sim. Unfortunately. I don't think it is so I can't recommend.

Having said all of that....I was starting to suspect Noir was a horror game especially after the incident in the cave (which was unexpected and clever). I would LOVE it if you did something like that in another game- start us out in a normal mode and then sneak in some horror or 4th wall breaking. There's something golden here- I just think maybe there needs to be more time in the oven, so to speak, before something delicious comes out.

I got this on sale for .49 cents USD due to the mixed reviews and was pleasantly surprised. If you stick strictly to the path you will get about twenty minutes out of it, that's true. But if you explore the large map you can easily double that. There are a lot of pretty views to be found off the path and there is just enough to do interactivity wise.

There are places off the map to explore, rocks to billy goat up and jump off of, all sorts of little side trips to get those achievements, so it's worth full price to me. The noir run doubles the run. You'll like the cave part the best, trust me.

If you love walking sims and just having a nice explore, you'll love this title.

If you are looking for a relaxing walking simulator, and love the snow in Winter time, then this is the game for you! You need to do a couple of very easy things to progress in this game (like put on the coat hanging on the coat rack before you exit the cabin), but, for me, these tasks added to the realism.

"Bottle". This game is the prequel of "Bottle Pilgrim" and it all starts from here. "Bottle" tells the story of a man, of a loss (perhaps an abandonment) and of the search for someone, the loved one, who is gone, who is no longer there...but whose memory in the mind of protagonist is still vivid and poignant. The silent walk in a snowy forest, where everything is frozen and immobile, sometimes abandoned. Just the distant bark of a wolf and the casual meeting with some beautiful creature of the wood. The fleeting apparitions that seem to recall love and at the same time deep pain in the mind of the protagonist will lead him to find and maybe to understand the cause of that loss so suffered. Is there redemption for who have lost himselves?
Game to be played more with heart then with head.

There isn't much to the game except some nice scenery which can be a bit blurry at times. The music isn't bad. It's relaxing as you take a walk outsides and enjoy nature and the snow. Wish there was more to the story, and the that the notes would go deeper.

Been to the Bottom of Every Bottle

Tonguç Bodur's third and shortest walking simulator, Bottle has zero story. I think there's only 1 voice-acted line, 6 notes to find, no plot, and no narration. In other words: a walking simulator.

Players have speculated what the story might be, and the dev kindly replied, "...what your imagination tells you."

And that's fine. I mean, that's par for the course with walking simulators. It's been that way since Dear Esther. The environment, music, weather, scattered notes--they tell fragments of a story that's open-ended, then the player completes it with fragments from their own experiences.

I can see how these games might appeal more to older players as well as the non-literal. Bit absurdist, really.

Anyway, my take on it I owe to a friend of mine who had one dream: adopt an old hound dog, buy a small hunting cottage in the Alaskan bush, settle in for the winter with nothing but a bottle of brandy and a fire in the fireplace. Why? To escape memories of a lost love. Such Simple. Very Hemingway.

I'm so confused. The fun part about walking simulators is that you can safely go off the trail a bit OR your destination is clearly marked. This has neither of those. I keep getting lost and it's made me very tired. It's pretty and interesting, but I can't get behind it like this.

This game is short, but for its price, its well worth it. Just the visuals and the soundtrack alone are beautifully done. The music especially is hauntingly beautiful and yet it is a sad melody but I often find myself absorbed in its beauty. I would pay more just for the soundtrack, so for $1.50 for this game its definitely well worth it.

The game play is simple... but it is a walk sim. On your journey, you will find notes, among a few minor puzzles if you will as you piece together in your own imagination of what happened or what is happening.

There is no Save feature however, the game may take 20-30 mins to complete but once you do complete the game in Normal Mode, another play through option will open up to you called Noir, that is pretty much an identical version of the normal version but is now set in Black and White and it is night time but also will present some alternate aspects of your first walk through, plus allowing you of getting those further steam achievements.

The game has no map but I feel that it isn't really necessary. But one thing I would have liked I suppose is a sprint feature. But being a walk sim, I can respect that it isn't necessary.

Overall, i will give the music a 5/5 for sure. Beautifully executed and I would replay this just to have the pleasure of listening to its soundtrack again.

Game Play I will give it a 4/5 but only because it didn't have a sprint, map or a save feature, however in saying that, it wasn't overly a inconvenience.

I own all the other titles from this developer and I am looking forward to seeing some of their other titles.

Alright, so first off, this isn't my first walking sim, as I do enjoy the genre. Second of all, this isn't an outright terrible game.

It's just quite boring, and the story just didn't grip me at all. There are so many other walking sims I'd rather recommend than this, to the point where I don't think I'd ever recommend it. Which is why I don't.

The developer seems to have made other, possibly better walking sims after this one, and even what seems to be a sort of sequel that looks way more interesting. So I'm going to check those out instead, and I suggest you do too, because this is obviously not the best starting point for the library of this developer.

Bottle is another beautiful game crafted by Tonguç Bodur. A walking simulation game of taking a mysterious path through mountains and forest trails to some unknown destination. You can go off the path to explore as you wish to find hidden animals
and other secrets.

The game notes state that "The core aspect of this game is the atmosphere. It is recommended for those who mostly seek to experience the mood". And that is exactly why I bought it and what it does provide.

An atmospheric, relaxing and mystical world set in a snowy landscape. ❄️

It's one of the more boring walking-sims. It lacks conveying a story. The surroundings aren't incredibly detailed or different from all the other trees/rocks/ etc. The notes are cryptic and as soon as I got one and read the next, I forgot about the last one I had read. The experience wasn't memorable and didn't resonate much despite my attempt to play a second time in Walk Noir mode about a month after my initial walkthrough.

Walking Sims are pretty hit or miss. This one just happens to be a miss.

Inseino

Usually I like this dev's games as they're simple and chill. This one was all that. The only thing that kept me from feeling like doing much exploring was all the invisible walls. The ways to go seemed almost infnite and to keep running into an invisible wall just killed the desire to find more. Having a visible boundary to help guide you would have been much preferred. Otherwise, beautiful visuals and chill music. For the price, especially if on sale, worth every penny, if you're into relaxed walking simulators.

Cons
+Severe performance issues
+Barely any content

Typically, I enjoy walking simulators as I can zone out for a bit and get a little story in. However, Bottle is just so devoid of content that I can’t recommend it. Along your snowy and slow walk, there are 6 notes to collect which don’t add to the story. Your level of interaction in the game is just so low that I had no interest in it. Bottle also has big time performance issues. My GTX980 struggled at 1080p with settings turned to medium.
