I'm often turned off by "retro" styled games that go hard on the pixel aesthetics, but this is an exception. I may still not enjoy the aesthetic choices here very much, but the gameplay is fantastic. The heroes all feel unique and their gimmicks are usually pretty fun to play around with. The levels are also varied and the game felt too short for my taste, but I realize that's only because I wanted it to go on forever, which is hardly fair!

The co-op aspect is a good and welcome addition, making what's already here even better. This is a very solid recommendation if you like fast paced 2D shooters.

its the most fun when playing with friends, although with it can be chaotic at times. Custom maps are just a great addition to keep gameplay fresh. would like to see more level from the developpers coming out though...

This game is great with friends.

Unlocking the new characters and testing them out, finding a way to quickly defeat your enemies or just rushing dashing through the stage. There'll be a lot of explosions, frustrating moments, epic battles and a huge climatic ending.

I've finished it on PS4, played it until I've got burned out. Recently, gave it a try but with a twist, I've brought one of my closest friends to beat the game with me. That gave a whole new air to the game, we beat the game in one sitting.

As an European it was always hard for me to understand American culture. What was fascinating for me is that they like bragging about their freedom which was weird for me, because I didn't think that I have any less freedom than them. I always thought 'What is the difference'. However after this game I finally understand it. NA is just so fucking free.

A super fun shooter that is even better when you play co-op. Great satire and a lot of references packed in add even more entertainment to the gameplay.

80s and 90s kids should absolutely play this game. A time capsule... makes me think I did not waste all that time watching action movies.

It's 100% Hotline Miami meets Metal Slug. Which is a great idea. The prisoners you rescue through each mission are basically your "lives," and they come in the form of a random 80s action hero, with you gradually unlocking all of them. There's Rambo, Terminator, Chuck Norris, James Bond and what not -- but they dig deeper with fun characters like Robocop, Judge Dredd, Bruce Willis, Will Smith (MIB) and more.

The gameplay is hypersmooth and fast, and the carousel of characters is a lot of fun. Unlike Hotline Miami, each 'bro' has different weapon sets. Overall, this is cool and adds a lot of versatility, but since you can't see which 'bro' you're rescuing until you do so, it results in you sometimes swapping a character that is perfect for the situation to one who is not. It'd be awesome to simply unlock them as interchangeable lives, allowing the player to hot-swap between the ones they currently have on deck.

As with Metal Slug, the game starts off almost stupidly easy, but the difficulty begins to spike rather quickly. And as with Hotline Miami, there's a "method to the madness" feel, where you begin to devise tactical ways to blaze through each mission as quickly as humanly possible.

On the other hand, you can't seem to revisit levels you've beaten. Maybe this gets unlocked later -- I haven't been playing long -- but it definitely would be nice to be able to replay earlier levels to try to beat your times, etc. Although the seemingly random assortment of bros unlocked on each map and your lack of choice of which to play will always necessarily add an element of randomness to your tactics, for better or worse.

Overall I wouldn't say it's an S Tier game or anything, but maybe a strong B Tier -- the core concept is very solid and it plays well; and the graphics and sensibilities and animations are all a lot of fun. I think the game would be improved if you could collect and hot-swap between bros in a more strategic way, if there were more levels accessible at one time, and if you could also infinitely return to those levels. I think the levels could stand to be just a little longer/deeper, as well. Good stuff on the whole though.

Interesting things about Earth

Earth is not flat, but it's not perfectly round either — Earth has never been perfectly round. The planet bulges around the equator by an extra 0.3 percent as a result of the fact that it rotates about its axis. Earth's diameter from North to South Pole is 12,714 kilometres (7,900 miles), while through the equator it is 12,756 kilometres (7,926 miles). The difference — 42.78 kilometres (26.58 miles) — is about 1/300th the diameter of Earth. This variation is too tiny to be seen in pictures of Earth from space, so the planet appears round to the human eye. Recent research from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory suggests that melting glaciers are causing Earth's waistline to spread.

The days are getting longer — The length of Earth's day is increasing. When Earth was formed 4.6 billion years ago, its day would have been roughly six hours long. By 620 million years ago, this had increased to 21.9 hours. Today, the average day is 24 hours long, but is increasing by about 1.7 milliseconds every century. The reason? The moon is slowing down Earth's rotation through the tides that it helps create. Earth's spin causes the position of its tidal ocean bulges to be pulled slightly ahead of the moon-Earth axis, which creates a twisting force that slows down Earth's rotation. As a result, our day is getting longer — but not long enough to make a difference to your busy schedule.

There weren't always several continents — Earth's continents have had an on-again, off-again relationship that has lasted for millions of years. Some 800 million years ago the great tectonic plates that Earth's land masses ride upon came together, assembling the continents into a large supercontinent called Rodinia; what is now North America lay at the center of it. Rodinia eventually broke apart into many pieces that re-collided 250-500 million years ago, creating the Appalachian Mountains in North America and the Ural Mountains in Russia and Kazakhstan.
About 250 million years ago, the continents came together once again to form another supercontinent called Pangaea, surrounded by a single, worldwide ocean. Fifty million years later, Pangaea began to break apart. It split into two large land masses — Gondwanaland and Laurasia — that ultimately fragmented into the continents we know today.

Earth's icy times — About 600-800 million years ago, Earth underwent several extreme climate changes known as ice ages. The climate became so cold that some scientists believe Earth nearly or completely froze several times; this is known as the "snowball Earth" theory. There may have been four such periods of alternate freezing and thawing, triggered by reductions in greenhouse gases such as methane and carbon dioxide, during which Earth would have been covered by glacial ice from pole to pole. Because most of the sun's energy would have been reflected back into space by ice, the planet's average temperature would have been about -50 degrees Celsius (-74 degrees Fahrenheit), with the equator akin to Antarctica today. If snowball Earth did exist — a point that is hotly contested — luckily we weren't around to feel the chill, as only microscopic and simple organisms existed then.

Earth's gravity isn't uniform — If Earth were a perfect sphere, its gravitational field would be the same everywhere. But in reality, the planet's surface is bumpy, and water flow, ice drift and the movement of the tectonic plates beneath Earth's crust all change the pull of gravity. These variations are known as gravity anomalies. A mountain range such as the Himalayas causes a positive gravity anomaly — gravity is stronger there than it would be on a featureless perfectly smooth planet. Conversely, the presence of ocean trenches, or dips in the land caused by glaciers millennia ago, leads to negative gravity anomalies. NASA's GRACE (Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment) mission, orbiting above us, is mapping Earth's gravitational field in unprecedented detail.

The calm before the storm — It's not just an old wives' tale: under the right conditions, the calm before the storm really does exist. As a storm draws in warm, moist air — its fuel — from the surrounding atmosphere, it leaves a low-pressure area behind. Air is carried up into the storm cloud, and some of it is forced upwards by powerful drafts. These updrafts remove the hot air and push it out over the sides of the highest storm clouds, which can be up to 16 kilometres (10 miles) high. As the air then descends, it becomes warmer and drier and therefore more stable. It blankets the region below and stabilizes the air contained within, causing people within that region to notice a calm before the storm.

Fun at first, but gets old fast. Stupid amounts of screen shake, random deaths to things you cant see. Half the characters are garbage and you cant manually switch characters. So you have to kill yourself, which wastes a life, and hope the next character isn't garbage.

A great game for those who grew up with 2D side-scrolling schooters, and are a fan of 80s-00s action movie heroes! Played the first release years ago and surprised how much of a better game it became! Invite a friend for a couch co-op style of play and test your friendship!

One of my all time favorites. I played it all though its Greenlight phase, and consequently grew up with it throughout Middle School because I couldn't really play beefier games on the computer I had. This game means a lot to me and helped shape my sense of humor.

A piece of genius. A game that would be already nice if it were just a parody, but that actually also has technical and tactical depth to it. Also, it has a great soundtrack.

It's certainly at its best in local multiplayer.

Imagine Metal Slug (or Contra) but with Rambo as main character. Now add many other 80's action movie main characters. Now add tons of LIBERTY and FREEDOM and mix them with all kinds of explosions, cliche enemies and ruthless violence. Now click on that button that says "buy" and stop wasting time that could spent playing this game. GO GO GO!!!
