TL;DR: CATch the Stars is a puzzle game with 50 puzzles, each one corresponding to a constellation. It is a cute concept, but needs improvement.

Full Review

The game opens with a giant skull. Sure, it's the developer's company logo, but it's hardly a good start for what is supposed to be a relaxing game. If you have to have a logo like that, just put it on the credits page.

The soundtrack is nice, but it is not very long, and there is only one track for the entire game. It either needs to be longer, or perhaps some different tracks for the different locations. The tune, while soft and soothing is a little melancholic.

The landscapes have a few mistakes (lines not connected), while it could be put down to the artstyle, it seems more like carelessness. If you are going to colour the stars, at least stick with red, orange, yellow, white, blue. Green is not really a star colour.

I know the constellations very well, and was trying to guess them before clicking the last move and completing each level. I probably got about 20% of them. The reason partly stems from the fact the stars are all the same magnitude. It would have been far nicer to have slight differences in the sizes of the stars to represent that.

There is no way to go back and look at the "holiday photographs" of the cat. This was disappointing.

Also, the cat doesn't feature very much. So, rather than being part of a story, it just seems like a gimmick for the store page. (Compare to the game Inbento, which has more cat photos and a way to go back and look at the gallery of them).

There are 88 constellations. Finish the job!

Yeah, sure, it's a cheap 1-euro indie puzzle game, with an hour or so of game play. But there are thousands of 1-euro indie games out there. So I can't really recommend this one at the moment, no matter how much I love the stars and cats. Sorry.

Relaxing little puzzle game with soothing music. You move stars and create (real) constellations.

I'm not real sure where this came from, how it got in my library. At least it's not totally worthless trash like so many things I find and have no idea how they got there.

This is not going to blow anyone's mind, it's not going to rock anyone's world. It's a pretty simple puzzle game with some decent music and the backgrounds are kind of beautiful in their simplicity. Why is it cat themed? I don't know, it doesn't really need to be. I guess to capture that ever growing lonely cat lady market in the gaming space?

Fairly simple stuff, you have a bunch of starts on tracks, you want to move them so they they never actually touch each other, and if you do it right, they will form a constellation, and you move on to the next puzzle. some of them will have points where the stars will stop, before reaching the end of the their track. If two stars touch while any one of them is in motion, the puzzle resets. So, it's a logic exercise of sorts to look at the situation, and decide in what order you need to move things.

There are worse time wasters out there, and may of them cost more than a buck so...

I love cats and I like stars, the combination of these things will draw most of you to buy this cheap game that has real nice ambient music and looks good but sadly thats all it is.In this flood of 1 dollar puzzle games 95 % of them are not worth your time no matter the price. After all I bought this because it is advertised as a puzzle game and I am 100% sure its NOT.

A nice little puzzle game with relaxing music. It's not that long so the price is fair and if you've played Hook then the concept will feel pretty familiar. Worth a purchase if you want a relaxing puzzle game that won't stretch you too much.

This is a fun short puzzle game akin to Hook. It does a good job of introducing mechanics early and building on them. My only disappointment is that it's only 50 puzzles; however, it makes sense given they are working within the framework of constellations and the story of a cat taking a trip to see the stars. Very cute art style. Challenging, but not too much. Fun game. Support the devs!!

I really loved it! The puzzles for the most part weren't overly difficult--I felt the most difficult part was definitely the "doors". It was really fun trying to figure out which paths were going to cause stars to clink into each other.

The visuals were great, and the game's length was about an hour and a half for me (I went and made food during that, so it's definitely a shorter game). Get it on sale if you can c:

This game is really, really, really, really nice. Played through it in about 2 and a half hours, and it was enjoyable and pleasant. The puzzles do get harder, but never impossibly hard. Toward the end, I was considering each star and saying to myself, "no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, yes." Many times I had to start over because I had done them in the wrong order, but it wasn't hard to see where I had gone wrong. Again, it was very relaxing and fun...and succinct. It didn't drag on for hundreds of levels, so I had a nice feeling of accomplishment after only a couple of hours.

Short and relaxing puzzle game. For the asking price (less than a dollar) it's well worth it. Puzzles are fairly easy and can be figured out rather quickly but that adds to the relaxing nature of the game. Bonus points for the great and calming soundtrack.

This was a calming and simple puzzle game. This one was not very challenging for me, but it would be a good one for anyone who is new to video games. I liked the calming music, and while my favorite star constellation was not in the game there were a lot of cool ones in there! The game has a cheerful tone, and the story with the cat is very simple. I'd say for $1 it isn't bad compared to other things I've gotten for that price, don't regret getting this one. When you complete the achievements it doesn't count as one of your perfect games (which it does mention on the store page), but other than that I had no issues with it. Overall nice game!

Welcome to CATch the Stars.

CATch the Stars is a wonderfull relaxing Puzzler in 50 Levels.

But first you have to create the Zodiacs by moving Stars to the right Position.
You can move the Stars by a simple click. They are moving on Lanes.

Be careful, if a Star touches another Star on its way, you have to replay the Level. The Levels are going bigger and more diffcult the more you solve. New Mechanics including to make the Levels more challenging and interesting.
But don´t missunderstand me. This Game isn´t very difficult, but varied.

But my personal Highlight is the wonderfull Soundtrack from Tatyana Jacques, who also did the wonderfull Soundtrack from JIGSAW PUZZLE TALES. A quick little game. There was no instructions at the beggining, which was really annoying. Basically you have to move all the stars from their individual point A to their point B without letting any stars touch along the route. Pretty simple. It was annoying when you were almost done, misclicked, and then had to do it all again though. Considering the price though, can't really complain!

CATch the Stars is an enchanting little puzzle game about guiding stars into a pattern without interacting with fellow stars to form a constellation. The music presented matches the calm nature of the game and doesn't detract from it. The game is made up of 50 levels and by playing all of them you will naturally gain all achievements for the game as well.

Recommended if you want a relaxing puzzle game with cute aesthetics that'll last about an hour for the average player.

mondsemmel
mondsemmel

Decent casual puzzle game about unravelling levels by moving stars in the right order.

Two small points of irritation: a) unskippable animations (though they're short enough that it was only a problem at the start, when levels were especially easy), and b) a parity-based obstacle (which stars can only pass every other move) without sufficient visual indication. Stars pass when you start a move while the obstacle has a square shape, and stop when it has a diamond shape. Maybe this rule is obvious to the devs due to some cultural assumptions (traffic signs, maybe?), but it certainly wasn't obvious to me, and I got the rule mixed up a few times.

The puzzles themselves are decent for a casual game, i.e. they range from very easy to still not particularly challenging, but they're still actual easy puzzles rather than, say, idle game stuff.

(Finally, these devs make lots of ostensibly cat-themed games, without them playing any relevant role in the actual puzzle mechanics (here, except for a few static intro and outro images, you barely see a silhouette), which seems somewhat dishonest marketing, but I don't care about the theme and so it doesn't bother me personally.)

Aleksiej

Fun little game. Hard enough to be entertaining, easy enough to be relaxing. Sound effects annoyed me a little (those "dings"), but you can turn them off. Game has no timer or move counter, you just need to click stars in proper order, or they'll block each other and reset whole level (if there's an obstacle on a star's way, it has to turn into square before you click on star). I enjoyed it, fun game for a great price.

Only took me 3/4 of an hour total to play all the levels, but hey it was cheap! I found both the sound effects & visuals to be a relaxing environment for puzzle solving, and I enjoyed the puzzle mechanic itself. I would have enjoyed it if there were more and even harder/bigger puzzles, but still for less than a dollar on sale I definitely found this collection of puzzles worth my while!

I love cats.
I love solving puzzles.
I love ambient music.
I love night.
That game combine all of that in one place.

Main pros is the things what I've recall above, simple and addictive (to me) mechanics, a cute athmoshepere and the cat, of course. Also I get know about star groups names.
Main, and the one con is that this game is really short, but for money I've taken for this piece of cute and ambience it's length is OK.

I'd like to see a few more mechanics, 100 levels in overall, and infinite puzzle generator.
That's all.

And I love cats, didn't I said it?
I love cats. They're cute, like this game.

I recommend it to players like me, just to stay away for a moment from brutal gore shooters and high dynamics. Sometimes we need it.

I've complete it under 2 hours and I could make a refund, but I didn't. Developer is beginner in gamedev, like me, and even that small cost may help to beginners.

A unique puzzle experience. I had zero idea how this puzzle functioned for like the first 10 levels tbh. There was no tutorial for all of the "features" in this game. You basically learn by trial and error. Once you get the hang of it and start solving them, you're going to feel so smart.

I like this game, but I don't understand why it was part of the Relaxing Games for Cat Lovers bundle. There's no cats in it. Positive:
- Pretty fun
- Requires you to think a little bit
- Satisfying once you've completed
- Cheap

Negative:
- Doesn't really have any instructions on how to play so the first couple of puzzles were spent pressing random stars to figure out what to do

Expanded Review:
Catch the Stars is a minimalist puzzle game where you need to conjoin stars together to form constellations. The sound track and backgrounds of the puzzles are very relaxing and it has cute illustrations of photographed cats that are displayed at the start and end of the game once it is completed.

When first playing the game, I didn't see any guide or anything on how to play the game so the first couple of puzzles were spent randomly pressing stars until I somehow managed to pass the puzzle. Then around puzzle five or six I figure out the stars can not touch other stars otherwise it restarts the puzzle. Once I figured it out, I breezed through the puzzles until it came to the diamonds and squares that were on some of the lines the stars would follow.

A few games of messing with the puzzles, I realised that the diamonds and squares were symbols for whether or not the star could continue following the rest of the line. If there was a diamond on the line, the star would stop and it would reset the puzzle back to the start. If there was a square on the line, the star would continue following on the line. It sounds pretty simple once it's been explained but as there are no instructions on what the diamonds and squares mean within the game, it just leaves the player wondering what the symbols are until they figure it out.

In my opinion, even without the instructions it is still a good game, it just requires the player to think more but sometimes that could also be a reason why some players might not want to play the game because they don't want to think.

If you've made it this far you're a legend and I hope you take my review like a grain of salt and play the game yourself to gather up your own opinions of the game. Have a good day

I loved this! I had it running at work on my laptop and played during breaks. I would say it took me maybe an hour total to beat. It's fairly simple and once you understand it, each level is a fun little challenge to beat. CATch the Stars is a wonderfully adorable puzzle game with extremely easy to learn mechanics. Coming from Pinel Games, it's no surprise this game has cute artwork that obviously features the travels of a small cat. Based on the videos, these puzzles heavily revolve around the stars and astrology. After giving this game a play through, you'll likely come out with a calm mind frame and a bit more awareness when looking at the night sky. Overall, I 100% recommend this little game for anyone looking for a chill time-- especially at this price!

took me 1.4 hours to complete the game (all 50 levels plus 100% of the achievements (which you get from just playing the game))

overall, a lovely game, cute astomsphere, really good puzzle mechanic!! the only thing i would say was a Huh, was when you started the game, there arent any instructions on what to do? XD which is fine, i feel anyone would be able to pick up on what to do quickly but i just thought that was a little funny!! but maybe thats part of the mystery and fun of the game :D start it out as a confused little cat and find your way back home :')

overall score as a puzzle game: 8/10
overall score for time spent to 100% it: 9/10, not too long, not too short
overall score for difficulty; 9/10, just difficult enough where you have to restart levels, but not to a frustrating level where you angrily give up and just look at the guide

overall score as a game: 9/10!!!!! :D

"CATch the Stars" is another game I'm definitely giving a Recommend rating to. It's a very nice, relaxing, straightforward puzzle game that's got decent visuals, nice music and no timers. My only possible complaint might be the lack of a tutorial. It isn't really needed. But, a text blurb as each new mechanism is introduced (and that would only amount to 2 or 3 dialog boxes) would be nice. At 2.3 hours (with 100% Achievements), it's pretty short. But, it only cost me $0.69 on sale. Even at the list price of $0.99, it's still worth it. Highly recommended.

Semi-educational. A cat and his owner travel around. Each ten puzzles seems to unlock a new location. Each puzzle solved produces a constellation. [TI] Ajf151

The best puzzles combine simple rules to create complex problems. The levels aren't terribly hard, but they aren't obvious either. It's easy to figure out a strategy but there is enough complication to sometimes make applying that strategy difficult. It's fairly enjoyable, though there are a few gripes.

The animations are too slow. Sometimes the paths circle the screen three-quarters of the way and that can be truly annoying. You have to wait for one star to finish getting to its stopping point to start the next one, which makes sense because of the nature of the game, but there is no way to hurry it along. There is also no redo button, so for levels that require a specific, double-digit sequence of moves, the slow animations are annoying the first time and deeply frustrating after that. If something takes more than a handful of attempts, it's maddening. As calming and pleasant as the soundtrack is, it's not enough to allay that emotional response.

Still, it's an overall enjoyable game. The difficulty is high enough to get the rush of successful puzzle solving and, if I could skip the animations, even if only after I'd seen them once, It'd be easy to maintain the relaxed feeling provided by the music. It's worth a couple of quarters.

A quiet and peaceful little game. Almost as much a meditation as a game. Short and very much focused on sequential logic, i.e. 'if this, then that', sort of thing. I've replayed it three times but I'm a sucker for calm games, ambient music, and simple but evocative graphics. Oh, and there's a cat. And stars, lots of stars. Who would'a thunk that? Not everyone's cup of tea, but cheap as chips and I love it. For what it is, 10/10
