This is a really fun game, and you can play it offline (if you're willing to have a chance of loosing your progress) and it's really good for road trips. I'm currently in world 11, and it's very challenging. It builds up your skill and reflex, so I would recommend you buy it! But it has definitely increased my anger issues... have a nice day/night, kind regards, K0ala7436.
This is surprisingly fun! Went in expecting just a basic plataformer but dang this is way more fun!
Also missed the fact that there was story on the steam page but i really liked it! It feels like there might be some hidden meaning to it but i dont really know what.
Lots of replay value considering theres a level editor and a workshop. Reccomend!
Yeah it's very good. Down to the detail. The lore shows all of it. The different type of platforming in every world made it fantastic too. If only they added more worlds and badges as I have completed and finished all levels. I also notice how it was really easy.
Mildly entertaining puzzle platformer despite a few rough edges. I bought it for the cat, which honestly more resembles a blob with a tail. Basic play mechanism is navigate to the exit, avoiding obstacles, occasionally using special abilities. Pretty short; fully completed in about 3 hours. Prequel to "Cats are Liquid - A Light in the Shadows" and basically the same game. (CW: plot is depressing and shrouded in excessive mystery.)
The game had a surprisingly deep and dark message that kind of hit me hard, which is rare for a game to me personally and was definitely not what I was expecting from this game in particular. Not to say I'm complaining about such a thing; it added to the enjoyability of the experience. The game's storytelling is really simple and incredibly easy to follow, and the subtle visual details and cues were an astonishing addition to the story. On top of all of this, the game is honestly incredibly fun. It's a very simple game at its core, with a simple premise, but the developers went far with it. I would 100% recommend this game with its very small price
I played this game first after getting it from some Ukrainian Package done for charity.
I thought it was pretty good, like, really really good, so I decided to purchase it on Steam to support the author.
Today I decided to play it again, years after, and I think I can't stress enough how much of a masterpiece that is.
If I had to say what's the best part of the game, I would say the Storytelling is probably up there, along with the level design (which integrates storytelling), the music and, if you like the genre, the platformer gameplay & fluidness.
If you don't like the genre you might still want to play it either as a relaxing moment while enjoying great music, or as an audiobook that also keeps your hand busy, wtv.
Bottom line, you wanna play this game.
I have just completed the previous Cats Are Liquid game , with no problem. I think it's an excellent game, and was happy to see that this sequel exists,
However, this one seems to handle incredibly badly, I don't know whether this is a bug. In particular, the cat doesn't stick to walls properly when climbing. I can't even get past the first few levels, because she slides downwards so far and keeps on hitting spikes because of it then looking sad, mewling pitifully, and dying. Because the game is unplayable in this state, I unfortunately have given up and requested a refund.
Overall, it seems like various aspects of the game are less developed compared to the first game in the series. The cat looks less well put together and no longer turns into a pleasing water droplet, everything seems less chunky, and the writing isn't as well implemented in terms of how it's being conveyed to the reader. And again, I'm having this problem with the game physics being wonky.
I definitely recommend the previous game, but will have to give this one a miss.
bought this (and the other game) just to donate, its a cool game with an interesting concept. quite reminds me of portal (without the detached to reality part)
would like to see this game grow, it has potential
( Sorry for mistakes, I'm from Poland )
I really like this game! I played a lot of it on my phone. I played also prevous part.
Game is cool, but some things here are glithed or something like this, PLS repair this:
- When cat change to ICE, it really boost when goes to the right on hill, but when it goes from hill, it start reverse!
- In the world 3, this with eyes. There "cog wheels" that follow player. On computer, this things go really fast, and I can't escape from IT!
- Every time I use my Grabhook, My screen don't move smooth. On mobile, I was really smooth, but on computer it is hard camera move.
Thanks for reading.
This game clearly has much higher production values than the first one, and I consider it to be an improvement in nearly every way.
My only gripe is that the World 2 medal is extremely luck-reliant, and the World 11 medal is flat-out inhuman. I wouldn't complain if an update made them the SLIGHTEST bit easier--heck, loosening the medal timers by just half a second and 2 seconds respectively would probably do big wonders.
would recommend to anyone who enjoys platformers and to some who don't. this game always leads you through each mechanic and is someewhat easy to play.
CHILDREN NEED TO DIE THEY NEED TO DIE
Already played it on mobile, so I bought it on Steam. MY LORD I WAS NOT EXPECTING SUCH A ROLLER-COASTER OF EMOTION. I thought: hey, a cute cat platformer.. so I picked it up. I'm just amazed at how amazing it feels to control the cat, and I REALLY got invested in the story. If you like the following: Cats, story-heavy, creative platforming, cute games, games that are easy to pick up, .. and those that are short and sweet, as long as you at least like half of those.. play this game, in fact, if you like ANY of those, just do it. It's only 2 bucks after all. 100% recommend. Now for my personal thoughts. 1: gameplay. Smooth, and fun! 2: story: I stated above, more than expected. 3: graphics: simple! I really don't care too much about graphics, but it's still good. 4: playability: Could run on most phones, you don't need much to run it. Probably could run it on a family toaster. (unable to confirm that fact, however.) 5: community? Really small and nice! (Much better than some fandoms.. you KNOW what ones I am talking about.) 6: personal rating? 10/10! (if that was not obvious by now. Just play the game, ok?)
Very fun game, really cool concepts. Outperforms its predecessor by leaps and bounds. Totally worth the money if you enjoy platformers, and even more so if you enjoy playing games fast. Achievements are just the right tinge of challenging, and are a blast to get. My only problem is with the level editor though, since it seems to be extremely wonky and level priority is all out of wack (first level ends the entire world pack, last level ends the world pack, levels in between can/will take you to the first level, some levels loop indefinitely [for example, loading level 2, beating level 2, and then instead of going to level 3 it just reloads level 2). Really though, totally worth the money!
This game is extremely fun and has a super interesting story, and I am enjoying it so far.
It is certainly worth the $2 price tag, and is better than even some games with higher price tags.
Something that I really appreciate is that each new world has new game mechanics, which constantly keeps the game feeling refreshing.
---
This game crashes a lot during the pipe levels btw
120 levels, a level editor, and workshop compatibility? how does this only cost $2?
edit: you can also play geometry dash in this game
liquid cat game
liquid cat game with dark lore
liquid cat game with dark lore and cute characters
liquid cat game with dark lore and cute characters and content
liquid cat game with dark lore and cute characters and content and its cheap
buy and play this game, it is very good
Emotional story, fun evolving game mechanisms, enough challenge and cats.
this is a great game with a very unique play style. i like that you can no longer jump well in liquid form, it feels very satisfying to go in and out of liquid form dodging enemies and trying to go fast. it's pretty bugy but in a month or two once the more annoying ones are worked out i really wont have a problem with it. also the bugs are MUCH more annoying well trying to speed run rather then playing it casually so it's really not a big deal. i really like the verity in the power ups and levels it makes it very interesting to play and i found my self getting exited to see what gimmick the next world had and how i could use it. i also like the length of the game, not too short but doesn't over stay it's welcome either. over all i'd say a first play through is probably 3-7 hours but even casually it's very fun to re play so over all you can get a lot of time out of this game. tbh i'd like to see the game priced up to $10-$12, i'm not a game designer or publisher so you probably know better then me. but not only do i think it's 100% worth that much, the lower price puts me out when looking through the store and not looking into games further then the thumbnail. it makes me think it's only worth $2 and that it's probably just another 2D platformer. if i didn't play the first one (which the price of that also put me out i just found it on android and figured i'd give it a shot seance it was free,) i probably wouldn't have given it a second thought and moved on.
this day, marks the day i beat this game, it had lots of internal screaming when i could not figure out what i needed to do, but then i managed to get through and beat this game. Though i have one question, is this game a prequal or a sequal to cats are liquid a light in the shadows? the only reason im asking is because of the end game achivement, called "a light in the shadows", if i could get an answer that would be appreciated.
The game was challenging, but not too challenging. The mechanics were awesome and the cats were adorable. It really got me hooked even though I didn't know entirely what was going on
World After Light Was Too Hard!
For my review of this game, I would give it a 10/10. First off I really love the story even if my game was broken at times, The story still made me feel for Lumi. Another is that the developer replies really quick when you find a bug or anything in the game, he is really active in the community and I am happy for that. The worlds and mechanics made the game really interesting just like the first game. For everyone who sees this, please get this game it is amazing
A fun little platformer with a suprisingly interesting story. The game never gets too difficult but it was challenging enough to keep me thoroughly engaged through the five hours that it took me to complete the game. Both the art and music for the game were very well done as well so overall i give this game a cat/cat
Very excited to find this sequel being out and the devs didn't disappoint. Lots of new mechanics and love the soundtrack.
Nice game, cats screaming in pain are so cute!
It just took 6 minutes to make me a believer.
I'll update if it goes the boring route, which is
actually the opposite to what's happening
right now.
I love silly games which make you smile.
10/10 would buy again.
if your looking for a story platformer then this is a good game for you
It takes the first game and carries it to a whole different level. Incredible. It's really sad only 27.1% finished the game, though. It's definitely worth finishing. Most of my run was offline, but I guess I can say this game takes about 2-4 hours to beat depending on your skills.
10/10 GOTY indie
Very Fun!
Great Level Design and Music!
Straightforward platformer. WYSIWYG.
Very interesting game with exciting plot. Simple gameplay, visuals - that's why I like it :D And, of course, respect for cats :3
i am so sad to write this because i loved the first part but this part has awful frame rate and there are lag in a lot of places
i hope the dev fix it
Carrying on the legacy of Cats are Liquid - A Light in the Shadows, this game follows the same great storytelling.
Once again it starts of sweet and gets a lot deeper/darker every world with yet another twist ending. Although I haven't explicitly read it anywhere yet, I believe this is actually the prequel to the first Cats are Liquid, also potentially hinted through the achievement you get upon completing the final level.
The new abilities bring a fresh wind with them, compared to the previous game as well, giving the gameplay a fairly wide variety of different elements you have to learn to use. You might get caught up in one or another level for a moment, but you can figure it out quickly.
In addition to the story there is also a level creator for the Steam Workshop, which I haven't tried out so far, but looks well made and gives you the opportunity to create and play challenges or just regular levels for that matter. This increases the games value in my opinion, especially since through its simple style the level creator should work well.
The music is very fitting, sweet and chill, so is the artstyle.
Overall it's well-worth it's money, so I strongly suggest it, sale or not. If you got some time, like platformers and/or cats, get it.
Fun game. was able to complete the game within this time.
each world has a new ability to try out.
There is also a create a room mode.
very fun game, amazing story, amazing gameplay, great concepts, cool mechanics, great visuals, 10/10
From the time when this was just a little mobile indie project to THIS... Cats Are Liquid will always remain in my heart as an amazing platformer. Sure, it might be a little buggy, maybe some rooms will be harder than others, but the FLUIDity of gameplay in it is simply astounding.
Fun game but oh lordy I hated the ice level.
Realy nice game. I played it two times on PC and one time on android phone. I think that for a price tag of less than 2€ its the best game on steam.
The first game was amazingly fun,but this...well this is on another level, this game is a masterpiece,i haven't even played the whole game yet and ik its really good,so if you're bored at home(or in quarantine)you should totally check this game out its cheap and with the new level editor there's unlimited possibilities.
10/10,would meow again.
Ok, funny story, I bought this game thinking it'll be a cute... innocent.... platform game featuring cats. I was feeling exhausted and opened the game wanting something as a quick stress relief. But oh boy oh boy was I wrong- as soon as the first glitch happened my jaw dropped.
The story line? Too real. I almost thought the game hacked into my brain and were messing with me.
The mechanic? Fun but still challenging. I literally got cramps after playing the last 3 stages.
Would I recommend this game? Definitely. Though the topic might be too sensitive for some people... As for me I was curious to what the ending was. ...And yeah it got depressing really quickly, and at this point I just want a third game where the cat finds someone (maybe lover?) that'll reach out to her genuinely.
12 worlds of cuteness
At first glance i thought it would be a nice, easy game, relaxing kids stuff..but boy i was wrong!
The levels get harder and more interesting.
Best part was the screen crash i for real thought i had a virus on my computer :))
Made me smile a lot while playing this one, thank you creators :)
Amazing game, i love every detail about it and nothing bad in the game at all!
Yes, this is just for the badge
this game is great but holy shit this game is so unbeliveable glitchy there is a ice world that broke my controlls i cant jump wen i turn into ice how the fuck do i finish the game wen i cant play it
The story is amazing and the control is smooth.
It is the game I need that I never know before.
I often play this when I feel blue, and somehow it made me feel so much better.
It's an amazing with a lot of effort put in it. The story is really good, and the level editor is amazing. I have definitely got my money's worth, and I highly suggest you guys buy it too.
A shockingly good short little platformer, with a level editor built in! what's to dislike?
Originally played on my phone. Loved it. Replayed it on steam to support developers. Great game.
It's a good game, with a good story. Level editor with the possibilities being near endless is amazing. 9/10
Great game, beautiful abstract visuals and meaningful storytelling. The puzzles themselves which the game revolves around can be challenging but are very fun and unique.
The level editor and the story is pretty cool.
Best $2 platformer ever.
This game is amazing, its not expensive and you can get a lot of fun out of it. But dont expect a 10 our game it is not verry long but totally worth.
the cat starts crying and then I start crying and then everyone is crying
I don't like cats, but i did like this game.
The platforming is very repetitive and simple; in between extended 'puzzles' there are hallways where you just jump over/walk under obstacles. Most hazards are just timing jumps, and instead of getting more difficult or requiring insight, you just need to wait until things move into place. You temporarily get an alternate ability in each world, but (except for world 10) they don't add much to the experience and don't get explored much. Overall the gameplay is very monotonous.
The story drags, as each each story beat is told over multiple text boxes in a level, or over multiple levels. There are cutscenes where you just watch the text box narrate, and they will replay if you restart the level.
I mostly felt impatient while playing this.
a sequel/prequel to a light in the shadows, even more depressing than the first!
i showed my cat this game and she had flashbacks and then i couldn't comprehend what just happened
very depressing, I 100% recommend. Lumi deserved better
This game is Awesome! It has a very intresting story, nice visuals and it great. The ending was kinda sad thought.
A very cute game about a cat and her friends going through worlds they created. This game can be completed in an hour or two, however it's worth it for this price, even out of sale. Also the soundstracks of this game are very relaxing. The plateforming part of this game is, I'd not say hard but challenging, because even me being very bad (and not liking plateformers in general), I really enjoyed going through those levels. Just be aware that the story can get a little dark sometimes.
10/10, a very relaxing and adorable game
The game is nice, however in world two i have found that if you lag too much while on the moving boxes, you get dropped off into the orange below. this can be angering to deal with, especially on 2-10. i hope you will fix this soon.
EDIT: This game's story is incredible, i have to say! however, in the ice world it's really hard to control the ice form, and i have found numerous issues/bugs which i am not sure if it comes from my keyboard or if it's from the game itself. Overall, i give this game a solid 8/10 because of the story and most world mechanics being amazingly unique.
This game has to be the most addicting out there. Its charming and fun, and it really makes you think. 10/10!
Great sequel, with the addition of more gimmicks is awesome. The graphics are also good too. 10/10.
This is a Platformer with a unique feel and playstyle.
9/10.
The game itself is a little short and the story elements that it has just feel a little dry.
The gameplay i would say has a nice feel to it and when you get the hang of it, can be really fun.
Overall a game worth the price!
I finished this in one sitting, no regrets.
Compared to the first game in this series, this one features a ton more game mechanics, and I love it.
Thank you so much for this game, and the emotions given by playing it!
Very, very good game. 10/10, really. Definitely check out the original game as well.
Very nice recreation of the original game and fixing settings with more difficulty
I feel as if my previous review has not done this game justice.
'Cats are Liquid: A Better Place' is such an underrated gem that I cannot recommend highly enough.
The game is set in a world where cats are liquid, and you play as a cat named Lumi who must navigate through a series of platforming challenges. The game has a simple art style which doesn't feel lazy or boring when playing. The music is also incredibly catchy and will stay with you long after you've finished playing.
The gameplay is simple but challenging, and will keep you coming back for more. There are a variety of different level types, each with their own unique challenges, and you'll need to use all of your cat-like skills to navigate your way through them.
Overall, 'Cats are Liquid: A Better Place' is a charming and addictive platforming game that is well worth your time and I can't recommend it enough.
It honestly seems like a nice game, but I really can't recommend it ( ESPECIALLY TO PEOPLE WITH FLASHING SENSITIVITY ) just because of how absolutely buggy this mess of a game is for me. Whenever I first open the game, everything will be rapidly flashing and glitching out of existence, and will just not stop until I enter a level and play for about 5 minutes. After a while of playing, the game will then completely freeze. I will have to turn off my computer just so I can exit the screen. Oh, and what if I open the page again? I get a rapidly flashing pause screen that would AGAIN have me turning off the entire laptop just so I can close the tab. It really ruins the entire experience, and in general has me unable to even complete the game because of the fact that it will constantly be kicking me out.
Wonderful game, the level editor is the best part, the only problem is discord is the only way to share levels. Would recommend
Fun and even better then the 1st game
I love this game!! It has bright colours, cool powers, and a good story! World 5 and 11 are my favourite levels because you can move boxes to solve puzzles and grapple with your tail in level 11!
Verry Cool Gameee!!! I recomend it!
Gameplay
A little difficult, but what's a platforming game without a little challenge, but I love it, the story to it just caught my interest, to the point where I binged the entire game in 2 days. I highly recommend this game if you want both a calm, and intense little indie game!
Personal Rating
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4.5)
i loved this game! its was the best game i have played in 2022. the story is the best part of the game. i hope that DLC or a third game is made because i want to see more of this game.
i love the small fanbase and it is the most accepting fandom ive seen in ages
This Game is amazing! The style of the levels in great even though it's not fancy. One bug I seem to find is in the map maker. Whenever you take one end of the floor and put it inside another it just go's haywire. Also, it would be nice if you could make base floor in the air(sorry if you can). Overall this game is great and you should definitely buy it if you're into 2D platformers.
The ending made me cry the first time, this game feels really personal to me and I love it so much for that. If you struggle to connect with others this game really hits you where it hurts emotionally. Its got a beautiful soundtrack, and says so much with such few words. Not to mention the adorable abilities you get!
Very fun and really good platformer
best game i ever played. i thought the reveiws were cap but no cap it is super good.
When I was a kid, the first game to this was my favorite mobile game, and now I'm glad I get to enjoy the sequel on my computer. Much love!
i really love this game. the minimalistic style is so memorable and the story is too. the developer picked out some seriously fun mechanics to put in each world. i liked the ending, but i do wish for there to be another installment.
this is honestly a pretty cool game you should try it out
This is one of the best platformer game you can find on Steam, very cute and fun
Yeah, it's a cute and fun game with some challenges if you chose to do them (they are not mandatory for story progression but more for replayabillity)
The only thing that's annoying me is that the bumping is not as responsive as I would like to have it when landing on the floor... but.... that's not ruining the game you just have to get used to the jumping rhythm :)
Very good Is free on mobile with ads
