really interesting game play with LOADS of replay value. you can play the same scenario over and over and its different each time.

Low-budget presentation aside, the mechanical breadth and depth of Circadian Dice cannot be overstated. At 10 minutes per run and 100+ hours of content, this will be one of my go-tos for a long time. Highly recommended.

I did not expect to have this much fun for a game at this price. Runs are quick but can be very challenging. A real gem.

This is a great little game!

No story, just pure action.

There is a ton of options with many hero and item combinations.
Even though all heroes (in theory) have access to all abilities, the games play out differently due to different starts.

Scenarios
The gameplay is surprisingly varied, even though the enemy waves are the same.
It comes down to the shop that gives random items, which will define your strategy.
As I got familiar with enemy unit abilities and how to counter them, hard mode was manageable.

Campaign
I have yet to beat the campaign, because you gotta go through all 12 maps - one death, and you gotta start all over!

Chaos Mode
Chaos mode was the most fun for me! The enemy waves are random, with random bosses and debuffs thrown in over time.
I like the strategy of forming an insanely strong die with just one face, which gets rolled all the time - at that point you're nearly unstoppable.
The journey to building your strong composition is challenging though.

I'm 30 hours in, and still have a lot of experimenting to do with different hero/item combinations.
Looking forward to people getting insane combos and speed-runners breaking the game.

It's kinda ugly but the mechanics are interesting and one run is quick to do. Great game to play when you only have 20 minutes.

Easy on the wallet and very solid game play that's well worth your time. Easy recommend to fans of the genre.

Art style has that distinct older RPG Book taste to it which might put you off, but you should know by now that all the pretty deckbuilders never, ever play as well.

Truly fantastic. This is the video game that has the best "board game feel" I've played in a while.

I didn't expect it when starting the game but the best thing about it is the progression system. The game feels fun enough at first soon enough you unlock a new cool feature, and an other one, and an other one... By the time you unlocked everything the game barely feels the same anymore, it was really surprising.

I don't have much more to get into. The game is just fun and challenging. The scoring system is not ideal but it's not so bad that it ruins the enjoyment of the game for me.

This game is amazing the play-ability is huge. The ui can be a bit annoying at first but you quickly get used to it. If only they'd hired a better artist, as this is the only thing that lets it down. But don't let that put you off. get it bought

Man, this is a great game and it's a steal at this price. Runs are quick and tight, the shop provides enough RNG to keep runs interesting, while the enemies staying the same and you having control over character and relic choice still allows you to actual pin down the challenge at hand. I especially love how the abilities from all the characters are in a pool as you unlock them, such that you can sprinkle bits of this and that into each run, while maintaining you character's core focus. Love being able to be in a run in seconds, and out in 10 minutes if I so choose. If you like deck builders, dice games, and the like, I think you'll be glad you got this one.

sethkane
sethkane

It's a solid game, simple to learn and there are plenty of different builds to try. There's a lot of stars to earn and it will keep you occupied for a while at a reasonable price.
Downsides are that the art is average and the music is forgettable.

Shaper

Love this game. It scratches the same roguelike strategy itch as deckbuilding roguelites like Slay the Spire but in a very novel way. The game slowly layers on a ton of very cool mechanics to your dice that synergize in very satisfying ways. The fact that your possibility space is limited by your dice pool really limits how much you can crunch through on a given turn and creates a really nice sense of flow where you're forced to "go with your gut" and build up good heuristics over time.
I can't recommend it enough. Easily worth the $6 just to see all the great ideas packed into this little gem.

This game is simple but super addictive and variable. I can't recommend this enough for the price. It's replay value is off the chart. There is a lot of chance and randomness, but there enough control over the strategy and options that you still feel ownership of the outcome.

SassyKitKats
SassyKitKats

This is a great example of a small game with strategical depth to keep you coming back. Its like a deckbuilder, but its all about setting up your dice rolls. The art is unique and the ambient music is actually pretty nice and moody. The Dev is active and still making small update and additions.

All characters have their own unique gimmick to manipulate the battle and influence the dice. The runs are short and sweet which makes it a great go-to game for killing small bits of time while tackling life-things or to just relax to. Lots of little unlocks and a difficulty curve that will definitely make you use up some brain power. Though, as with any roguelite- RNG can just wreck your run, but I haven't felt that the game has been that unfair and it helps a lot more to understand the character's mechanics and using them to your advantage.

This is a great pickup for any Roguelite/Deckbuilder fan libraries for that cheap price!

WiLDRAGE777
WiLDRAGE777

I've only played an hour so far but the game play loop is extremely satisfying. There are plenty of options and no two games are ever the same.

Honestly, for the price, if you like any kind of dice game, this is a must buy.

The levels are short enough that you can blow through an easier one in a few minutes, while the harder ones will have you spending that same amount of time figuring out if you can re-roll the dice without dying that turn. The different characters nudge you towards a certain play style and the relics allow you to splash a different combat technique or maximize your character's. The UI is a little ugly, but it never detracts from the feel of the game. It has a campaign mode (beat all the levels without dying) with an acension mode, a hard mode, and a random run choice. For the price, it's an absolute steal.

Piveyy

Great strategy game. Would fit into an tablet or Steam Deck since it does not require much power and is quite chill, but it does not (for now) work there (Window is cut, you can't even press play on Steam Deck). Still great game.

Meganasaurus
Meganasaurus

This is a really nice roguelike dice building game that is very much unexpectedly addictive. My best advice is to not judge a book by its cover, as some of the graphics look a bit amateurish (the proportions on the full body drawings of the characters in the loading screen are pretty damn LOL) and with the home screen being a little confusing at first. Yet, underneath, there is a solid foundation of game mechanic which makes you forgive any shortcomings.

I feel like CD unlocks new abilities/systems in perfect timing to maintain interest and keep you evolving strategies. I'm yet to complete the campaign mode but looking forward to cracking it!

SoberToaster

It's very fun but also frustrating. Like a lot of other reviewers have said it comes down to RNG. It's to the point where I am getting comfortable with the game and its mechanics, and it feels like if you don't get a good turn 1 roll and shop roll you may as well exit scenario and just restart it again and again.

Also, don't really understand how score works and it's a bit frustrating being a completionist and trying to get 5 stars on each level. I only have a few stages left but getting stumped on the werewolf stage. says don't kill human or -100 score, K done, no humans killed, took score multiplier after every single wave, aaaand 4 stars... did I take too long on turns or something? what even affects this? If you take score multiplier literally every single wave you should get 5 stars period. I mean... there is still hard mode for %$^ sake..

Also side gripe with the star system. it's SoOoO cool being able to pick these rewards, abilities, bonuses etc after the waves... except, again, if you are a completionist you just get to look at them, windowlick, and go "nope bye bye" and click the boring ass score multiplier button because we hardcore gamers son and we want five stars on all levels with all characters.
Some abilities are written very poorly and don’t do what they say they are going to do.
Also the game need a loadout system to save my favorite complete sets. If I go down a level where it only allows 1 or two, it takes away the third and fourth slot relics and I need to find them again. This is a minor gripe but it’s a quality of life thing that DOES get annoying after dozens of times, especially considering how bland and unmemorable the relics are/look.

Overall for the price, fun. Just with some complaints.

Leper
Leper

Based too much on RNG to be fun. Later levels feel like you need the perfect shop or else you just cant do enough damage quickly enough to even beat it, let alone get a high score.

Lorax
Lorax

I absolutely love this game, it's an incredible value for the price. The game features 10 different classes, all of which come with their own thematic artifacts, abilities, and dice. However, none of the former are exclusive to a specific class and can be borrowed and utilized by other classes, making for some really fun and creative builds. The dungeons and bosses are all interesting and well balanced, each requiring a slightly different strategy to complete. The UI is intuitive and easy to use, and the tutorial thoroughly explains the game mechanics. The graphics obviously aren't AAA quality, but IMO it doesn't detract from the quality of the game at all. Overall, this is a great adaptation of the popular roguelike/deckbuilder genre and definitely worth a try.

Herald of the End

an excellent little game, well worth it's price. the different characters play pleasantly differently, which is nice. single runs tend to the shorter side, which can be nice. i find it very much one of those games where you play about an hour at a time before you're done for the session, but i'm well willing to pick it back up the next day or even later that day.

A very fun deck builder game! A lot of fun content for the small amount of 5 Euro, also huge room for improvment all the time. Not too RNG based, you need to plan a lot. Well worth it!

Jowie Howee

Incredible dice-builder. Compared to Slay the Spire much less of a single power jump with one addition to a die (as that is only 1 face on 1 of 4 dice).

Only feedback is I wish there was a more engaging scoring system. One that is less of a guessing game on whether you can skip the streak and still get 5 stars but instead one more based off completing waves without losing health, overkilling enemies, optionally adding challenge etc.

Circadian Dice is a proof that casual doesn't always mean dumb. Being easy to get into and offering very short gaming sessions, this game is definitely casual, but it is far from being a pure RNG fest. Each playthrough involves fair amount of planning, and plenty of content provides crazy replayability. Don't let the looks (which are not that bad, IMO) fool you – this is a true gem.

Pretty fricking good.

Introduces several mechanics in one of the smoothest ways I've ever felt, genuinely good game design.
I will admit the art kinda reminds me of slot games from the 2000's/2010's that you'd find in a game store in the PC section BUT the game play is fucking sick, multiple classes, a star system, multiple scenarios, endless mode and like 40 relics.

Will admit there is a bit of bloat in terms on symbols to put on dice but nothing too bad. 9/10

Do not miss out on this game!

I've played the game for over 27 hours, so I think I can say I can leave a good review.

Circadian Dice is easily one of the best deck/dice builders I have ever played. It eases the player in with a short set of mechanics to get their head around: shields, attack, coins, and some other basics. Then, after the next couple games, more characters, and mechanics, unlock adding more and more possibilities to the gameplay. This is done at a nice pace so the player never feels overwhelmed with information.

There are 10(??) characters in the game and they all play incredibly differently. Cleric is very much a defensive character, using shields and healing to withstand the heat of battle, whereas the Barbarian is the exact opposite: hit hard and hit fast. These play styles are all enforced by the pool of abilities that each character has. Each ability is very unique and on flavor with the character. For instance, one of the Cleric's main abilities is to have all shields be able to do 2 attack as well, making the cleric's powerful defense into one heck of an offense. The abilities can get very spicy, so I don't want to give away any more.

All of these mechanics and abilities (mostly) are added to a global pool for ANY character to mess around with. This may seem like the abundance of items can be overwhelming, but each character has a core to build around, so you always have something to work towards. All of these tools give an absolutely incredible amount of variety. I've played the game for this long and I am still finding new ways to play the game.

Long story short, Circadian Dice is all about letting the player do whatever the heck they want to do, and the devs absolutely achieved that with this dicebuilder.

You shouldn't be able to die to the tutorial boss. I won't be bothered to replay it. I skipped the boss explanation accidentally and couldn't understand why my attacks didn't hurt him. Don't make it possible for your game to make your players feel dumb in the tutorial. I was only trying to learn.

To put it very simply.
There's a demo in any case (and that's already a very good statement about the devs)
Runs are much faster/shorter too.

This is a STEAL at it's current price (just under 5 bucks).

Not much to complain about other than graphics which have room for improvement.

drew.benton

Tried the demo and liked what I saw mechanics wise.

Upon playing the full game now, I strongly dislike the progression system. Being unable to progress because you have to reach a certain "score" by not utilizing the mechanics the game provides you just feels like really bad design compared to literally every other game in the genre.

It just doesn't make sense being punished for spending gold and leveling up and not artificially extending each round trying to rack up enough score. Likewise, when choosing from the end of round choices, if you don't build up the streak each time, it seems like you'll never get past the initial 4* encounter.

The game didn't cost enough to warrant a refund, but I'm pretty disappointed because everything else about the game seemed really interesting. I can't think of another game in the genre that suffers from a design decision like this, and I've played a lot of them.

Tox

I would highly recommend Circadian Dice to fans of other deck/engine/dice builder games. It has a neat premise, lots of variety, and a charming art style (which is subjective, but I personally like it). Getting a good run going can be challenging, but it's a rewarding process.

I have two main criticisms which will likely prevent me from putting much more time into Circadian Dice, but given that I have about 20 hours in currently, I don't think they ultimately matter that much. The first is that I rarely feel like I have a 'build' in the traditional sense. The winning strategy just seems to be to pick/make objectively strong dice. Synergy between dice/abilities often doesn't appear to matter that much compared to just having straight-up powerful die faces. My second criticism is the abundance of RNG, which I recognize is an idiotic complaint given the nature of the game. I've had too many otherwise successful runs be clotheslined by unfortunate RNG to be that interested in playing more. Again, I cannot stress enough that I know this is an irrational issue to have with a dice based game like this, but it's still something that has soured me on the experience.

Circadian Dice is simply the best "deckbuilder" inspired game I've played.

I was always a little mystified at the huge popularity of Slay the Spire, as the core mechanics seemed very simple to me -- and honestly I found it a little too easy on the lower ascensions. Monster Train was better and held my attention longer. Circadian Dice, however, is vaguely in the same genre, but the choices I find myself facing each turn feel much more 'thinky'. This is exactly what I want from a boardgame inspired roguelike.

There's a ton of content here. I'm 40 hours in, and while I've unlocked all the characters and most of the levels, save a few of the most difficult on 'hard' mode, I'm still unlocking new 'artifacts' (equipment). All ten characters available have quite a different feel when playing, which adds a lot of variety when replaying levels.

My only criticism of the game is that the user interface feels a little amateurish in places and the visuals look very low budget, but I can certainly overlook those flaws because the core gameplay decisions feel so satisfying to make. Highly recommended.

I've never imagined that die games could hold so much depth in them.

The systems may seem overwhelming, but they are presented in nice bite sizes, so it's all good.
The only minus of this game is... an unpleasant character design and some rough spots in the UI, but other than that it's pretty cool.

Tomomo (Casual)
Tomomo (Casual)

Game unlocks a buncha features you may or may not want throughout play. This means that the gameplay changes drastically and becomes less strategic the further along it goes, and much more luck based as more stuff is added to the shop pool. A bit like Isaac. Lots of things have synergies with themselves, so adding more things to the pool just makes it harder as it goes on, even if you go back to old stages of the game.

My favorite game of all time, i originally found this game 3 or 4 months ago on a whim. After playing nonstop after work for hours a day, something i hadnt done in YEARS. I never thought i would get that of playing a masterpiece with so much to unlock and an amazingly fast paced gameplay. Once you play a lot you end up doing dungeons in minutes, making fast paced decision making rewarding and simple, rolling the dice and odds.Yet there is an incredible amount of content here that adds to a very deep strategy game to play, unlock, and master. I always loved the idea of rogue-likes that had such an incredible amount of unlockable content behind basically just playing a lot of the game. I always wanted to find love in a game like that and to unlock all the content and this was finally the one. Such an incredible game i bought it twice which ive never done. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

ARCTICWOLF

Positive, but a huge BUT. First thing first. Yes, the game looks like absolute dook. Terrible art, terrible UI, confusing menus, terrible menu art, and the real kicker...the game does not scale well to fullscreen. Even at 1080p the text is blurry and difficult to read. From the looks of it, this game is truly meant to be played windowed at the default size. Now for the pros. The gameplay is addictive and relatively easy to understand. You can get through one of the shorter "runs" in just a couple minutes, and there's lots of options to choose from. I would say the game definitely feels like a $6 game, but it's one of those games you would play a ton on your smartphone. I'm not convinced this is the best platform for it, but I do recommend picking it up.

wobbed dot com
wobbed dot com

Good dice grind for six bucks. My major complaint is that the classes do not feel unique - when you unlock a class all their unique die faces, abilities and mechanics get added to the shop/levelup pools, so aside from the weak faces on your starting dice and a couple of starting abilities, the classes don't play all that differently to each other. Which isn't great considering the game really encourages you to redo levels many times with many different classes to rack up stars which is the universal score that unlocks new content. It also dilutes your ability to build towards a certain focused die set/strategy as classes are unlocked, and there's no way to strategically avoid unlocking those classes either. This actually makes the game experience become more homogeneous as more classes and mechanics become unlocked, which is messed up.

I'm far from unlocking everything yet so maybe there's some way to refine all the above that gets unlocked even later on... idk

A reminder that hidden gems are often in plain sight! This game has been getting heavy rotation on the storefront and I've skipped over it every time. What a mistake! This is a surprisingly fun and interesting strategic gem. And for the price, don't pass this up. Neat little game. Some thoughts in no particular order:

- The mechanics are quite interesting, work well together, and are fairly unique. I haven't seen many games exactly like it. It feels a bit like of a mashup of Slay the spire and Dicey Dungeon.
- Again going with the same comparison, I would say the complexity of the game is fairly on par with Dicey Dungeon. It is quite easy to learn, has some interesting decisions, but not as difficult to "master" as a game like Slay the spire.
- I like the length of a game. A single "run" typically takes me about 10-20 minutes depending on the specific scenario. I would imagine this could very a lot person-to-person depending on folks play style.
- Fairly stylized, but attractive enough, art style. It certainly never prevented me from enjoying the game.
- Overall fun game and I think worth the price. It likely doesn't have a huge amount of replayability (I probably won't spend hundreds of hours on it) but again for the price I think its a very good value.

A mostly fun game at a very reasonable price.

Unfortunately the difficulty balancing isn't that great though. I breezed through all the scenarios at normal difficulty. It was fun to do this but I enjoy a bit more of a challenge.

The hard mode was unlocked so I tried all the scenarios on hard mode. Most were pretty fun and a reasonable challenge. Unfortunately a couple of them were absurdly difficult if you don't get the right rolls and spells offered. I gave up on these after quite a few tries as I never came close to winning them.

This game has a lot of potential but unfortunately, for me at least, it is unrealised potential. The game mechanics are interesting but the game lacks polish. The battles just aren't that interesting. Too many different mechanics that don't mesh well together, as if the developer kept on throwing in new features to try and make the game more interesting.

I will recommend this game but I wish the developer had spent more time on game balancing.

Gemini Holo
Gemini Holo

Probably my favorite game of the year outside of Vampire Survivors which is amazing considering you can get both of them together for less than ten bucks.

Very, very, very rewarding progression with an enormous amount of unlockable characters and items to enhance your runs. I never felt like I was getting completely screwed over by the AI any of the times i played through, which is something I can't stand in other games like Gwent Rogue Mage and Poker Quest. The runs are typically fast and I can complete most of the early stages in less than 10 minutes, which lends heavily to the "just one more run" feel you get from this game. It's not a slog and you are always rewarded with new unlocks.

So that's the magic formula I guess...easy to learn, short matches, constant unlocks = fun and replayability.

There is nothing fundamentally wrong with the game. I wish the graphics were in a higher resolution but that's the ONLY issue I have with the game. The gameplay itself is pretty much perfect. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a rewarding casual time waster.

This is my pick for successor to STS. Its great, and especially great value for money.

Enjoy!

Bought it one week ago and more than worth every penny.I played it now for 58 hrs, and still did not unlock all features and had much fun during play. All characters are really playable and unlocking new features is really great and addicting. Each run gives new choices, THX for the great game.

Eg. When 'thought' having found a bought, posted the bug at the forum. Reaction from the developers within 5 min. Fastest response ever! (Obviously I was wrong, did not read the text correctly)

For newbies,
At start use demonifesto on almost all chars (especially magic users with red/blue gems.

Finally *SPOILER ALERT*
AX GANG SIGIL is overpowered, even on hard campaign, easy wins with almost every char.

I have been playing every night since I got the game. I like it. I love the progression and the different classes. There is a lot of RNG but you get enough skills and artifacts that give you bonuses that offset it. At first I could barely finish a game but after unlocking 60 stars and all but three of the classes I can routinely beat the initial levels. The art style feel hand drawn and has a comic book feel. The different animations of the classes are fun. The concept of dice instead of cards is really interesting. I can see others copying/extending this style of game and I can't wait to see what folks come up with.

If you like Magic the Gathering or other card battle systems and you like Rogue like games you will love this one.

An engaging and unique experience where each turn can feel a bit like drafting.
Very fun, very "one-more-run".
This feels more like an old school NES/Arcade style game than a modern rogue-like and I mean that in a very positive sense.

Trianglitch

I like it!

A nice, light tactical dice-building game with surprising depth, and no extra fluff.

Its fast to get into, very snappy to play. And thats very good, because at times I will spend some time considering my next move, which already creates a pause. So to be free from unnecessary waiting in between attacks, rounds, or even whole levels feels good.

As new characters unlock, it also unlocks new die faces and spells. These will be available in future games, meaning... new ways to play other characters!

It deserves to look better. But most importantly I understand whats happening, distinct and recognizable symbols, buttons effects. SOME things, like what level is selected, and taking fear damage could be made more clear.

This thing is like crack. Enormous amount of content on the cheap, strongly recommended who anybody who likes roguelites-- and even to anybody who doesn't, since there's a chunky demo to try out.

Really good replayability and grindability. Pretty decent balance. Some classes definitely feel more broken than others, but there's enough variety that I expect to sink 100+ hours into this game over time.

I find Circadian Dice really entertaining. Sometimes very frustrating opponents and the need of some luck make it hard to bear sometimes, but nevertheless you always return for a quick game instead of a coffee break. Due to its basic design, there is no sweat running it under linux. I hope, there will be some DLCs in the future.

Fun dice roguelite that has a ton of replaybility after unlocking the campaigns, hard mode, and the chaos map. Tons of unlockables and even some hidden characters and die buffs! Definitely worth the price for the amount of content!

Instead of a Card battler, it's a dice battler. Good concept.

I want to side thumb this game, but I played for 84 hours so I guess I liked it enough. 3\5 stars.

Pros: Well thought out classes. A variety of dice interactions. Decent level design. Unlockable items. Solid game design overall, really.

Cons: Once you've unlocked the campaign, there's not much really to do. There are stars assigned to how well you complete a level, so you can try to unlock all the stars. Most of my time spent was doing this. I did do some levels on hard, but it seems like it's less about skill and more about luck. Luck on dice rolls, Luck on whether the dice store will give you decent dice\value, luck on chest drops, luck on whether you can actually open the chest, luck on whether it's day\night on certain dice rolls. The harder the level the more luck is involved. Some classes are wildly better than others. The campaign is a cool idea but takes forever. I kinda just want short runs from my card battlers. In the end just playing for stars wasn't enough for me. I think I played about 20 hours too long, which means the replay value is somewhat low.

If you have any sort of love for "builder" roguelikes then you absolutely cannot pass this up. There's such an incredible amount of depth but it's presented in a way that doesn't overwhelm you, instead opening up slowly like a gorgeous flower. From the lovingly crafted individual scenarios that will only take a few minutes of your time, to the staggering variety in characters to the many ways you can tinker and experiment with how you play those characters it's difficult to find a genuine fault in this game.

KappaKappa420

Just had one session, if you enjoy deck building the mechanics are really fun.
Scenarios are pretty neat as well, there are a lot of heroes and relics, for this price I think this is a steal, but also a selling point :))

There must have been a lot of work put in this and it really shows.

I saw someone mention that it is weird to have cross-class die show up in the shop, I guess I can agree with that, but not sure if it would be better if it was different, would need to try and see how that would look like.
The weak point I guess is the art/ui at least when playing on 4k, but even that was more than I expected, champions have their animations and there are quite a lot of monsters and different elements in the game.

Imagine there was a game that inspired the base core mechanics of Slay The Spire. It wasn't super popular, or particularly polished or slick enough to lead to it being the genre defining powerhouse that StS is for the Roguelike Deckbuilder genre, but you know that it was there first, and codified what the genre would become.

If Roguelike Dicebuilders become a "thing", this is the equivalent of that game for this nascent genre.

Something about the game feels a little rough and preliminary, but it feels like a foray into an entirely new and innovative genre. I can't think of a game right now that has more cool new ideas per dollar.

It's a lot like playing Dice Forge, except there is a combat element that Dice Forge doesn't have. It's a grind of a game, but aren't most rouge like dice/deck builders? Personally, I'm good with a grinder as long as it doesn't feel like a chore. This game's turn around on a given run are short enough I don't feel like any game is a waste of time.

Really deep and cool game with a bunch of systems that reward you for making calculated decisions. It felt simple at first, then complicated once more systems get revealed, then simple again when you understand the systems, then complicated again when you realize the potential of each system and trinket loadouts. highly reccomend if you are fan of slay the spire or similar strategic roguelikes.

Easily the best roguelike deckbuilder game out there. Can be compared with how fun and addictive Slay the spire is and might not have as good design, but in my opinion have more interesting and better core mechanics than it. Also a lot of content for its price. Highly recommend this game.

Brilliant little dicebuilding game!

Its really fun to build your dice and your character every run.
Instead of cards you have dice and a huge variety of different symbols that can be on them.
New symbols, characters and mechanics get progressively unlocked so it is really well paced and doesn't overwhelm you.

It can be hard but it is well balanced, you really have to build around the character you choose and each character has a distinct playstyle.

With the addition of the artifacts that you can choose for your run and the RNG you can mix&match quite well and pull off some crazy combos or unusual runs.

Its has huge replay value, a run is around 15-20m and its just fun to try to unlock everything and get better scores.

"Circadian Dice" is a deep and great dice-building-roguelike with a lot of content and satisfying mechanics that really needs more attention and a bigger player base.

I already played it a lot when it was free in "early acces" on itch.io.

You roll through different set scenarios where you craft and enhance your dice (therefore your RNG) and progress by unlocking new quests, characters and artifacts, that further enhance your setup-playstyle. After each character-unlock, the game introduces more gameplay-mechanics that deepen your choices and strategies which each character (it can be a bit overwhelming at first, but the learning curve is satisfying if steep). Every character plays very differently and it is challenging and rewarding to try out different approaches.

The UI, graphics and effects are absolutely barebones, as is the music, but it manages to set the right atmospheric mood and the character drawings still hold their share of personality.

Good luck playing on hard mode (which is an alternate mode for the different scenarios with added content and challenge and aims to be the "finale" of the game) or endless mode, because it pulls no punches. I managed to defeat the final boss with one of the characters after around 20 hours. If you seek full completion, you will probably scratch the 100 hour mark.

Check this out, if you yearn for a bit more refreshing and more niche rogue-like with fun mechanics!

Darlvon

Fantastic roguelite. Turn to turn tactical decisions are weighty and enjoyable. Lots of interesting strategical choices as well, both inside and outside of a run. Starts off decently simple, but adds more and more complexity onto the existing framework as you progress. Towards the end gets hard enough to make your decisions really matter, while still allowing enough room for interesting strategies. Good replay value, classes are pretty diverse and there's a ton of ways to customize them further. Graphics suck and UI isn't fantastic, but who cares.

If your interested check out the demo, it has enough content for you to form your own opinion.

If you don't mind the crappy UI and awful title. The gameplay itself is excellent.

The game is similar to Card Quest and One Deck Dungeon. Fans of the usual StS, Monster Train, etc. should also get a good kick out of it.

Highly recommended at its low asking price.

The demo gives a good feel for the game and as you progress, the different characters are truly distinct. The game does a wonderful of job of creating the tension between, do I risk an bad roll in hope of a great roll.

Such a fun game!

Dice game with all the fixings that I didn't know that wanted. A challenge with a learning curve if you wanna 'star' the mission but oh so fun. High replay-ability. Try the demo first, and if you enjoy it, this game is worth full price for sure!

Very thumbs up. The greatest strength of this game is that it can be played as casually, or seriously, as you'd like in any given moment. If you're looking to progress through the story, get the high scores, and unlock all the things - you can sink your teeth in and really maximize your decision making; and if you're looking to start a run where you actively make less-perfect decisions and try fun things/builds - that's just as doable as well.

You start with 2 dice, each with 6 individual sides, and a number of abilities depending on your starting class; as well as any relics you've brought with you (up to 1-4, depending on which mission you're doing). Over the course of the game you'll level up: choosing and gaining additional abilities, unlocking additional dice slots, and modifiying your dice - two sides at a time. Additionally, you get your initial roll, and 2 (minimum) re-rolls a turn - so you can always counteract poor rolls, or push your luck and hope to win big by rolling that perfect set of faces.

There's two difficulties that each stage can be played on (normal, hard); as well as a campaign-mode for both difficulties, in which you'll play through the whole gamut of levels and discover/encounter any relics you've unlocked, albeit in a randomized/unknown order - it's playing the game, but with a high-score challenge and the challenge of making it through the game without a 'perfect' selection of any given relics out the gate. There's also a post-story endless mode, which while I appreciate the concept of, find weaker overall than the campaign itself - but make no mistake, it's great in its own ways for those who've played through the story missions and found themselves wanting even more challenge+decision making.

I went into this game with expectations to refund it for being an rng-fest where you have no control over anything real ; but instead, I found a game where despite the fact that dice and rolling are the core gameplay mechanic, there's also a lot of important decisions and choices to be made from start to finish. At no point in my runs did I feel 'I lost that because I was unlucky, there was nothing I could do' - but instead, 'I see what I could have done differently; I probably shouldn't have done XYZ'.

I shouldn't end with this, but; during a particular campaign-run, I found myself encountering a very unique bug+set of circumstances (that the dev graciously helped me work through!) - but far more importantly, for the first time in my gaming career found myself disappointed that I DIDN'T have to replay the entire game from the beginning, and re-unlock everything.

So yeah, thumbs up - and all for $6; serious value.

Solid roguelike that appears woefully underappreciated. Game is kind of like Dice Forge in that the "deck-building" comes from dice modification but the similarities end there. Gameplay is very solid and can be difficult. Only negative is that the art and UI is a bit wonky but the solid gameplay makes that easily forgivable. I would check this out if you are into rogue-likes or deck-builders (even the latter if in just board game form).

Atlas

It's fun - it's not amazing.

Slightly reminiscent of one deck dungeon (the board game), but way better - you play the odds by upgrading dice faces as you go. There are abilities to work through bad odds and some characters are better at replacing dice faces than others.

Honestly, this plays more like a board game than anything else, but takes advantage of its medium to alter the formula. I like this - if you're the kind of person that doesn't like board games you probably won't.
