If there is an okay button I'd press it. I remember the trailer alot and the music they chose with it. Its soo badass... And I have always wanted to try the game so bad back then. And now I have, and boy, I was hoping it would be a masterpiece... It wasn't.
This is good game to have fun for a while and if you like that splash of nostalgia. Its fun crashing your competitors and race to get first. Kinda like the chaos you get from 1nsane or the mayhem in Flatout series and weapons like FullAuto. Its quirky at times, for example, the music suddenly goes to full volume after you listened to the dreary briefing in the career briefing menu. And the game crash when you play with the video resolution. Its kinda weird.
But overall, its a good game, with the impressive crash physics and gameplay features, it certainly deserves some good stars. And all this tech back in 2007 is pretty outstanding for a small studio.
Best way to describe this game is probably like the Lamborghini Countach. Its an awesome looking car in the 80s. A boy's dream car. But you probably wouldn't want to own one if you could. Its not something you would expect it to be.
My rating? 6/10. Pretty good game. Should you buy it? Wait for sale. Is there online mode? YES!
Fun to play , Good with Mods Support
This is not just a Game...It's a Legend!!!
Great childhood game. Main campaign takes about 2-3 hours, with lots of content to help you have fun on the way. Other parts of the game, such as the multiplayer or the free play is not as interesting.
Overall, definitely recommend it :)
Best racing game I own. Killer soundtrack, I used to listen to this soundtrack for hours. Amazing game, like Wreckfest with guns, but before Wreckfest, Amazing Game.
Le pude tirar un par de cuetes al auto de Mariano. 10/10
WTF IS THIS INCUBATOR SHIT ? This game have lack of physics and its silly stupid game that keep's wasting your time with every nonsense BULLSHITS. I used to like this game
What I though I would get out of Trackmania.
un excelente juego para pasar el rato con amigos lo recomiendo
Such a great game! I played it when it first came out and i still find it has great fun with the improvements it has received. I wish more people play this game online.
If you like to create content (tracks / cars) for the game, this is the race game for you. The car battle modes are quite okay (although not my personal taste), the racing for single player is quite bad in this game. So the one way to make the single player experience more challenging is: choose slower cars than the AI or give the AI nitros in a race but don't use it yourself (this works very well - I just see it as a puzzle mode in the game ;-) ). After playing the game longer I discovered two mods: Better Bots and Harcorde Bots that can also be used to increase the Single Player difficulty, adding a replayability to a game that could have been 'dead' . In the end the for me the Pros for me outweigh the Cons, so I do recommend this game for the variety and creativity it offers for people who like to build and create tracks and/or cars. The different cars and different road types (road / country road / dirt) also all handle very differently, so this has been done well.
Since this recommendation is only just on the side of Yes, I made a list of Pros and Cons so you can decide for yourself if this is the game for you.
The game can be seen as having the following disciplines.
• Battleground: Wrecking match, Pass the Bomb, Bomb Run and races with weapons hot and Hold the Flag (either with weapons hot or off).
• Stuntmaster: Stunt Show.
• Racecraft: Race laps, race point-to-point and knockout races, all with weapons off.
Pros:
• The Battleground game modes have AI that is quite okay. Even though their aggression is dependent if you shot at them or not. In this regard the short Single Player can be enjoyed for what it is, a Carmageddon remake.
• The Battleground game modes are very suitable for multiplayer. So if you are willing to put in the hours to reach the steep level of the multiplayer community it might be worth your while.
• The track editor is great, this does have all the parts the 90s game Stunts had. This is what makes me come back to the game, just to be able to create new tracks is very nice. Also there is a large MOD community that offers a wide range of different tracks to download for the game.
• There is a large MOD community that has made a lot of content over the years. A lot of new cars, tracks and new track pieces are available. Also there are some nice sound MODS that improve the game experience overall. Creating new content for Crashday is the one thing that keeps me interested in the game. That is why I recommend this game.
Cons:
• The Single Player campaign is very short and is mostly focused on Battleground game modes and a bit on Racecraft and Stunt Master. It is more a Carmageddon inspired game than the 90s game Stunts, aside from the track editor.
• The game modes for Racecraft have terrible AI. The bots cannot cope with jumps or stunts on track. Even though this has been addressed many times, the developers did not fix the Single Player experience for the Racecraft modes. And only support the multiplayer game development. So in the end it felt a bit misleading that the game description suggests it is a remake of the 90s game Stunts, since there are no Stunt Races possible for Single Player. The only thing Stunts related is the track editor. Wich is very thorough and the one thing that sets this game apart from any other race game.
Extremely fun game. Great soundtrack, track editor, mod support. Yea, it's old, but even if you didn't play it during your childhood and you don't want to relieve the memories, but you're simply looking for a great demolition racing game - it's here. I wish more people would play it online!
14 years later and when it comes to demolition racing... still you wont find a better game.
I hope for a sequel !
best game ever this one and dungeon keeper are my childhood favorites :)
Gran Juego de la infancia , Nostalgia pura.
One of the greatest racing game so far. The right amount of unrealistic features and one of the best customization and the possibility to be creative in this game makes it 5/5
Made my childhood, continues to make my days right now.
Despite Redline Edition has almost nothing new compared to original game, I still like it. Only I thought it should cost less, because so few changes made. Sadly online pretty much dead, it's usually 10-20 online and 2 lobbies.
Offtopic: Why the frack everyone play race so often? It's like 9000 other racing games, and Crashday has pass the bomb, deadmatch, flag capture, etc and you still play basic racing. Why people?
Nice game from my childhood. I really appreciate the attention of the developer to the game and the community.
TLDR : A simple racing game that's a lot of fun for a cheap price. Grab your friends for the best experience.
Most important point for a racing game : handling. It may be apprehensive at first, but it's not as bad as you think once you get the hang of it, and it can allow for a pleasant and somewhat immersive racing experience. The different game modes, while not terribly good in soloplay due to dumb AI, can allow for a variety of gameplay when in multiplayer : whether you like stunting, racing, smashing everyone or playing party modes, Crashday can offer you something. And don't forget, with friends and creativity, bring yourself new modes like police vs racers.
The game's high modularity makes modding easier than your average game : not only you have a decent track editor to build arenas and racetracks for all your needs, but you can easily edit files to alter your experience, create cars, tiles for tracks, ambiences and sounds for better immersion, new career missions, assets for custom gamemodes, and if you feel ambitious, create a total conversion mod to radically turn Crashday into a very different atmosphere. Let's quote the example of Deathday, a total conversion mod from Madmike that turns CD and its European scenery into a Madmaxesque game.
The major issue is that its simplicity may lead to crashes here and there, the P2P network might lead to some frustrating occurences in multiplayer... and if i talk about bringing friends, it's mainly because ultimately, not many people play this game, so good luck trying to find a public lobby. And some of them will be hosted by veterans with a lot of experience, so prepare yourself to get beat down (hell, even I would get beatdown effortlessly, even with my playtime). And on a more minor note... well it's actually a 2006 game that has been patched up, so it's probably not the prettiest one on the market.
But who cares, as long as you're having genuine fun ? It's one of the cheapest "party racing games" you can find, and a pretty good one at it.
Small edit : Don't be surrpised if you see a lot of \(number) in people's nicknames in this game, that gives you fancy color customization ingame. :v
Fun game to play with friends. The handling model is kinda weird at first, but controllable.
It even has a level editor so you can make your own tracks.
I rate it 6.5/10
This game is a childhood classic i will always remember for kickass missions and the amazing level editor i spent so many hours in back in the day.
really wanted to play and like this game
i wanted it since i saw an ad on a gaming magazin of it when i was a kiddo
But for a game that is soupose to be an arcadee, screw around, crashin stuff, type of game: having a realistic handeling of the veicle sucks
buy Flatout instead
It's mad. You car games that let you crash a lot? Go for it. It's fun, it's graphics aren't the latest but they're good enough and it's not expensive.
It was better in 2006 when my cat was still alive. I miss my cat.
WW2 Wagen fight in nutshell OwO
Pros:
• Purebred arcade
• Career mode which takes 4 hours to complete
• Cars shoot bullets and rockets,
• while doing stunts, pass the bomb, capture the flag
• There is a very easy-to-use map editor
• Thus multiplayer is lots of fun
Cons:
• Actual racing is meh
• Music is very fifteen years old
Conclusion: play it for the non-racing modes in the multiplayer.
You can up the weapon damage if the opponent drives better than you to make chances more equal.
I don't know who is trying to make money of who? The song Crashday or the game Crashday but neither are very good. Boost does nothing. It kinda makes everything slow motion and takes away all steering control to give the effect of some G- force. Then the AI around you just speeds up too. So boosting does not help you progress. Upgrading the car does nothing. I thought if I upgrade the performance the car would go faster, or if I upgraded breaks it would stop harder. Whenever I did that the AI just got faster and better as well. You have to cut the corners to win races and that is not something I am used to doing because I have not played NFS in ten years. Loading times are to long for mini events. You end up waiting 60 seconds to do a lame 6 second jump. The crash derby would be fun if the servers had people to play with. Base game comes with 6 cars. There is mods, but plenty of other newer games modders are doing stunt tracks and crazy cars for that are alot better than Crashday. I just dont see a reason to play this game unless there is some modded car you must play.
It was better in 2006 when my cat was still alive. I miss my cat.
great game and graphics even for low end pcs, love the track editor and making some cool creations!
I had a demo of Crashday back in the day and it was in the stunt arena. I couldn't figure out what the point was, so I never got the game. The theme song stuck with me though. Fast forward many years and I see it on Steam but I'm still cautious and I pass on it again. Then temptation got the better of me and I bought it in a recent sale. I'm so glad I finally got it as there is so much more to it than the demo suggested.
The handling is excellent - simcade, so it's not really a walk in the park when you're trying to go as fast as you can. So far, the missions are varied and interesting. I'm not big on stunts or weapons in car games but I make exceptions when the game is good.
Technically, it runs well on a Ryzen 2600 and 1660 ti, but then it would. No problems, but I did just get an error message after quitting the game. Don't know why.
Finally, the music is awesome. There are three racing games with blistering soundtracks - Flat Out, Big Red Racing and Crashday. The music suits the action so well.
Youngsters who've never heard of Crashday really should give it a try. It's mega!
Update:
I'm now 76% through the career mode and it's turning out to be one of those great games where if you can't complete an event then it's not the game's problem, it's yours.
Love this game so glad its on steam now, I played this game for many years before it got on here like 10 years later lol. A Must buy for me if you love cars and like to build them this was a blast.
Good racing + action.
I don't like racings usually, but this one is good for me.
I think. everyone will find game mode for himself.
Even my little daughter like it - the most "stunt show". She often ask we "let we play this game with CARS AND STUNTS!".
No troubles with performance and acceptable graphics (let we remember - this game is released at 2006).
One trouble - playing with keyboard is quiet uncomfortable, but it's common thing for racings.
So gamepad is desired here.
Ever played a racing game and thought to yourself "I'd really like to shoot that annoying AI car off the track"?
Well, with Crashday, you can.
In Crashday, there are three main types of event: wrecking matches, where the aim is to wreck as many of you opponent's team cars as possible; Stunt Shows, where you have to earn a set number of points before your opponents, and traditional lap races.
You also get the odd mission that doesn't fall into these three categories, but I don't want to give too much away.
Did I mention weapons? You get those too
The Redline edition of Crashday allows you to use Mods (and somewhat ironically is one game where I still feel OK about using Mods). There are cars, tracks and environs in the Steam Workshop for this title.
It's awesome, go check it out!
crashday is a really great game i played the original when i was younger and i had great fun doing stunts and team deathmatchs
Been a while since I played this one and have to say that they did a good job remastering this classic.
I love the story behind this game development and decided to give it a go again.
Don't expect this to be a super cool racing game, because it is just decent enough for a destruction title.
Handling-wise, the cars were not built for races & the grip is just not there, making you spin out fast. Other game modes are really good though, especially pass the bomb & wrecking matches, with rockets & miniguns.
The career mode is very short, but you can have more content on your own in online play & using Steam's workshop mods...heck, you can even create your own tracks. Old music is still in & good. The improvements are there, indeed...however the AI is just plain dumb in many game modes, they are not bright. I had some crash to desktop happen after I alt-tabbed...I don't understand how after 3 years they are still fixing bugs, and there still are.
Oh well, the game is still pretty good, so grab it when you can.
Is fun occasionally, with people.
Fun game modes. However, I wish vehicle handling was better.
Edit - Higher end vehicles handle a bit better.
best game I've ever uninstalled
Really cool that this game war revived and still gets regular updates and Dev support! Congratulations Moonbyte, you're doing a very good job!
...spent tons of hours on Crashday game, and this edition only proves its gorgeous qualities and magnetic atmosphere that a car game should have.
Its allright but:
-steam wont let me add workshop items, reason why i bought the game
-no online players to play against, second reason why i bought it
This brings back so many memories
Still a hell of a fun time, absolutely worth it's price
this game is based. 32bit, runs on my intel gma despite the graphical enhancements. mod support, cool track editor, replays, etc. the devs update it every now and then even if there is not much interest in the game as of late.
one thing i want, and that'd likely be relatively easy to implement: more curated tracks directly in the game. the stuff already in here is pretty creative, especially sewerrats. just more user tracks would be really cool. i know there is the workshop, but to have developer-featured content would be a really nice touch and might inspire more people to make creative maps.
if the interest gets too low, i hope we see an open source release or something, i seriously think there is huge potential and at least some interest to make the game even more feature packed and compatible with more platforms or even different cpu architectures and graphics APIs, with even deeper optimization. have like custom masterservers and so on, for non-steam play. i think that'd be one of my favorite games of all time, if not my absolute favorite.
thank you for keeping the remaster as compatible as it is and expanding upon it as well.
čo vám j**e? to je crashday! Samozrejme, že to odporúčam.
Damn I missed this game, it was the first of it`s kind that I`ve played on PC many years ago, just after knocking myself out on Twisted Metal and Vigilante 8 on PS1.
It`s good to know the developers didn`t just abandon it like most games, this one is a super nostalgic master piece and you can run on potato PCs.
Totally recommend!
I remember back in 2012, my dad had an old windows xp desktop that he let me use. This was one of the games on it, and I played the hell out of it. Every day after school I would play Crashday. I did this until I found other games that sparked an interest in me. Years later when I found out about Redline Edition, I got very excited and I was hit with a ton of nostalgia when I played it again. all that aside, the game is fantastic and I wish that more people knew about it.
I have no nostalgic feelings to this game, so I will rate it how it is.
This game has many great ideas, but none of them nail it.
First of all driving. Most cars feel the same, either you drive a tank or a car on ice which already is sad.
The car variety isnt really there, with 12 cars there isnt much to choose from. The career mode is okay, it doesnt have many events and the story is interesting but pretty weird, it tries to tell a story but how they convey it is just between cringe and interesting. The AI is terrible, the computers are stupid and are often bad except that one on the enemy team who puts you in a coffin. This leads to the problem. The AI in team wrecking matches is terrible. My team killed me so often that I lost so many matches, the career isnt long. The AI is just terrible and thats especially the case in stunt shows. You gotta do everything if you have a team on your side, because they probably wont get more than 30.000 points. Speaking of stunt show. The physics in this game are unbelievably inconsistent, if you want to have a stunt mode then the physics should be decent. You spin, fall and just overall lose control easily. If you wanna do spins and barrelrolls you will probably lose. The boring player wins these matches. Most of the time I had to find one optimal route and repeat it every 20 seconds because you might not win otherwise, or you just jump and dont try anything funny. The game is interesting, but every idea is cloaked in mediocrity. If you have the AI on your side you might aswell quit. Theres no real challenge except your incompetent team mates who sabotage every play youre trying to make.
Dont buy it.
This game is not worth buying
idea is good but graphics and ... is so shi*y.
with mod you can play with balls
It's a dumb old game,
and that's okay.
Un clasic care trebuie neaparat incercat.
It is, indeed, a day where you crash. And you'll crash, alot. You might even redline it a bit.
Супер игра из детства, посню был у мя диск знач с этой игрой, так это говно постоянно зависало что приходилось ребутать комп, благо сейчас такого нет = )
Old school Crashday but now with a new coat of paint and some extra polish. If you're looking to relieve your nostalgia while supporting the devs and getting steam workshop support, I recommend it.
[H1]Iɴ 2006, ᴛʜᴇ ɢᴀᴍᴇ sᴇᴇᴍᴇᴅ ᴀᴡᴇsᴏᴍᴇ. Bᴜᴛ ɴᴏᴡ ɪᴛ ʟᴏᴏᴋs ᴛᴇʀʀɪʙʟᴇ.
It's an old game, but it works perfectly with my xbox elite series 2 controller, it runs great and is fun as hell. It has tons of achievements to unlock through career and various other modes, a level editor, online multiplayer and the best part- Steam workshop support with tons of cars and tracks and more. The music is pretty good as well and while the driving is a bit janky, it doesn't stop the game from being a blast as it is extremely fun. The full price is not even a bad deal considering how much content and replayability is packed into the game, for the 5.99 or 50 percent off sale price I think it's a steal.
I absolutely recommend this game if you like arcade racing games with tons of variety and possibilities, the devs really weren't kidding, there may be endless possibilities as the Steam store page says, especially with the workshop support. By the way, all the workshop mods are online compatible and the game has a built in mod engine on top of the workshop support which also works online with friends. Buy it now!
Flatout but the npcs actually do something instead of driving around, well uhm i think i broke something in my laptop and now it wont start, imma refund but the game still good
BEST SKATEBOARDING GAME EVER
CAN DO A BACKFLIP TOO
THIS IS SO SIICK, I WAS CHOCKED LIL RACER, BY THIS:) LIKE UNDER HALF GIGABYTE ::: =:) ITS FAR BETTER THAN FORZA 5, WILL BE FORGOTTEN LIKE FORZA 4;;;LOL
WITH SOOO MANY OPTIONS 2B CHOISE FROM AND FOLKS ARE SITTING WITH MONSTER RTX3080;;;LOL
HYPERCRASH?!
Wreckfest before Wreckfest was a thing.
It is as described, except-- this really, really feels like a game from the mid-to-late 90's. It reminds me of games from that time that were just excited to have a GPU to run on, so particles and effects galore!
The basic gameplay is pretty final-project-for-my-gamedev-class. There's nothing gratifying in the vehicle crashes or weapon hits. It just feels like.. almost like the simplicity of a Flash game.
I don't even think it would be more entertaining if you were playing with a bunch of your friends. It feels like you have dozens of other similar choices available that are a lot more satisfying.
And, yes, even on sale for like $5.
Whenever I went over to my gramps place for Christmas i'd always sneak off to his pc to play this gem of a game. Very thankful for them bringing this back onto PC let alone at a fair price. Whether on sale or not I recommend it though if you're in the game standard mindset of nowadays especially campaign wise maybe wait for a sale if not enjoy nevertheless!
Its a great update to the classic yet niche racing game. It doesn't change too much, graphics are basically the same, same with physics, it was a fun game back in the days, it's still a fun game today. I would love to see a wreckfest style sequel, with full on soft body physics, more speed and more mayhem.
This is clear that this game was a low budget one. It's nothing special, has dated driving and physics model, maps (because of how they're constructed) feel quite strange, there's only a few cars and game modes, and the career is so short so it can be completed in a few hours only.
I'd say that this game is one of these that I wish I could give "mixed"/"neutral" rating for. However, I decided to give it a thumbs up for a few reasons:
- nostalgia - pretty self explanatory. I still remember trying to recreate my neighbourhood in the game's map editor, back when I was a kid.
- map editor - might not be very elaborate, and that's also why the maps in this game feel... strange. But it's there and it's fairly easy to use and moddable.
- it's fun - while it doesn't offer a lot, it is entertaining. Is it top fun I've had? Nah, but it's fun enough for me to not want to quit this game after a few mins.
- price - all of the above wouldn't matter much on its own if price was bad. But you can get it for like $3 on a sale.
So to sum it up - this game isn't for everyone and is far far from perfect, but if you have some nostalgia for it and can get it for cheaps, I'd say it won't hurt to give it a shot.
That car minigame from FNAF 6 with drunk Afton returtning from Macdonalds
The campaign is underwhelming. The tracks are badly designed, so as the majority of the missions.
There are only a handful of mission that are actually fun. The rest are either boring or annoyingly frustrating due to the bad desigh choices.
Guess the base game could be good, but the campaign ruins it.
I only liked wrecking match.
The stunt course was not like the intro image.
Another gem from the past!
This racing game was yet an another childhood game of many people. It still holds up pretty well: the servers are online, Steam Workshop, Achievements and Trading Cards are implemented and it even has a 4-hour Career Mode, which doesn't exactly have a story, just some backgrounds here and there to make the game more entertaining. But overall the experience is great! It's fun, relaxing, just what you need to spend a free evening after a hard day at work/school/university. It also has an absolute banger of a soundtrack, the gameplay is great and I would definitely reccomend this game to everyone who loves racing games!
Definitely worth a play lol loved the backstory the narrator is f****** hilarious.
this game is a phony. this game literally tries to make a "modern" oldschool racer while failing at it because it just feels wrong, heavy and boring
Explosive, fast, aerial. Fun.
Probably better with friends, because the AI can be a little too easy, but it's fun nonetheless.
Granted, that the driving mechanics, steering and braking and all could be better, but the arena maps are pretty sweet. Shooting and blowing up other cars is fun for hours, nitro feels satisfying, jumps feel like you're flying. It's pretty great like that.
And mods. There's not a whole lot of different kind of mods, mostly different cars and maps. I wish different weapon types or AIs existed (unless they do and I somehow missed it, please link me to them). But the mods that exist are quite nice. Some interesting maps out there.
Goes for sale upto 75% every now and then, definitely give it a shot.
It's really really fun + the workshop is really HUGE
This is a remastered version of the original Crashday game. Unfortunately the remaster isn't anything big, it's just a couple of high resolution textures and that's about it, no other changes to the game. I've finished the game in about 4 hours, there isn't much to do after completing the career mode. Unfortunately the handling is a bit weird, not to say that it's bad, the campaign plot is so bad that it's better to just skip it, and some missions are hard if you've never played the original game. The physics are straight out of 2006, so they are a bit bad as well, even for an arcade racing game. AI is a bit unfair in deathmatch or elimination mode, they destroy you in 1 or 2 rocket hits, when you hit them with about 12% damage in 1 rocket hit, same goes for the minigun. Other than that it's a fun game to remind you of the old days of gaming, it also has a big modding community so you can download a lot of additional cars. Unfortunately when you download mods the game disables your original savegame for an unknown reason, and you loose all the money, all the progress, and all the unlocked and bought tuning parts. When you disable mods the game lets you use your original savegame again. The multiplayer mode is still working (As of 07.2022), but it's completely abandoned, nobody is playing this game anymore.
Overall it's a cool, a bit nostalgic game with a big modding community. Get on sale only, it's not worth the full price for what it is.
