Very scary, very funny with friends. Get friends, play this with friends = benefit.

Otherwise this game pretty dead, which is sad.

Badly optimized. Get higher fps with pc reboot.

This has to be my all-time favorite coop horror game. The ongoing hard work and dedication of the Damned community brought this underrated gem back into action with their most recent updates. Thanks, you guys rock!

I think its bullshit, you guys deleted me account? I can't even use my game code to activate Damned because its fixed to that account. 9heads fix this now, its not far, that i have to spend another 19 bucks, because you guys feel the need to delete peoples account.

Anyways, the game is awesome when you get people to play with its fun. But what i dislike, is after i uninstalled the game i cant play because my Product Key isn't working.

I used to play this game a lot and loved it. The problem is the frame rate and voice chat sometimes. The game is pretty much dead and it's a rare sight to find someone playing it. For me, if you are playing with your friends then it's a good buy. Playing alone, then you just wasted a shit ton of money. I recommend this game for close friends since there are never any public matches. I kind of regret buying this game now since I haven't played it since 2017 haha.

The Arsenal
The Arsenal

Short Version: A hidden gem of horror that gets straight to the point. Survivors must find keys to progress throughout a complicated map and survive a specific monster/killer. No higher ground is made with perks or abilities, the monster will always have the upper hand unless the survivors use caution to the highest degree and teamwork can favor this as well with Radial Voice Chat. While other horror multiplayer games suffer to find their place to actually create horror (Looking at you Friday: The 13th, Dead By Daylight, Five Nights at Freddy's), Damned reminds players how genuine horror can be. While the game isn't perfect as it does suffer with technical issues as well, it's the gem that creates a perfect atmosphere. Horror enthusiasts will love this!

Long Version: Damned is an Indie multiplayer horror game that places 4 players against one monster of their choosing. Survivors must collect keys to progress throughout a random map, find batteries for their flashlight, and tools for obstacles. The monster? Eh, just kill everyone. Simple enough? So, you can make a lobby easily with friends or random and there's a community still kicking to keep the game going with new maps (Maybe new fixes?). There are 4 survivors to choose from, and there are no advantages to any of them. They have the same amount of running speed and stamina. However, there are a few monsters to choose from and they're ALL different. The Lurker, my favourite, can spawn traps to find survivors while he's in the ghost form; once the cooldown is off you can waltz through and start slashing. The Phantom relies on hearing, which is for Flashlight clicks (Yes, seriously), running and just by touching another survivor, doors are nothing to you. Mary, everyone's favourite I think, is the girl you wish you didn't meet in Middle School. Why do I say that? She's creepy as she walks around and spawns randomly in the map building up rage to go ape**** and cleave through anybody in her way. Then there's the Fallen, a statue that spawns other statues on traps to spawn and can only find survivors if they look at the statues...yeah, I know Dr. Who is calling. The monsters are all unique, however and you can find a ton of enjoyment when you get them to work in your favor. There's also what I call an insanity builder that causes random things to happen to survivors the longer the game goes on for, this will affect voice chat, progress, and survival. I love this addition, it keeps things interesting.

This brings me to the technical issues of the game. Sometimes you'll have to do some technical surgery to get things working at a steady frame rate unfortunately and random crashes can happen due to the engine and age of this game. It doesn't break anything it's just annoying at times. Newcomers will have problems with this game as well as the tutorials to the objectives are...well, not helpful. You'll be confused at first and need help, I advise you take things slow as you would in any horror game. The population isn't great either, you'd have to check in with the community that's still around to get a party if anything. Think Hidden: Source Beta if that makes any sense. A small community that's kicking, but only sometimes.

Overall, Damned is a solid game that's plagued by its age, but it's the only real horror game that knows what it wants to be. Not competitive, but fun and scary (If that makes sense). I adore this game, sometimes I come back to it like I do with Hidden: Source. Great concepts that are only hindered by technical issues.

I give Damned a B-

I have to say the price isn't worth it for such game.

For first, there are bugs and lags in the game. Some maps cannot be even finished because of random keys. All maps are too much long, making it boring very soon. There are only few maps only too. Also, the jumpscare of the face is really not needed in the game, person should be scared of the monsters, not some random faces that blinks.
Also this game is litelary impossible to finish as a survivor, map lenght, random keys, hands out of the floor and all those things to slow the survivors down and making it impossible for him to not be killed.

Music is very nice, I am still shaken by it, and the monsters are very well made. The game is fun, true, but only if you play with friends. Otherwise the game will bore you in the first half hour.

i mean i really like the idea of this game but its just insanely hard to find keys in it especially late game and the killer could probably kill you 10 times while you search. if future updates of the game make it so the survivors have some abilities them selfs maybe like easy to find keys that the keys make a sound and some survivors can try and avoid traps with some sort of trap detection then this could be alot of fun but right now its just killer killing every one real fast real easy. good for a couple of laughs with friend still

Its fucking horrible and great ya know what i mean. Like the game sucks ass, but it can be fun as hell with a group of friends. 3/5 would recommend if you have people to play with. Warning tho, it runs like shit and there is a good amount of lag online and sometimes things dont work quite right, but its something I come back to on a once a year basis.

The concepts to the games has a lot of potential, but there are several major flaws to the game.

-Almost no player base at all (The Game REQUIRES multiplayer. 4 Humans, 1 Monster)

-Not a lot of updates (Looks abandoned)

With this, I highly recommend you not to buy this game.

Hasn't been updated in years, very buggy, I can't even play the dang thing because it keeps asking for the CD Key Code that Steam sends to activate it but because I already did that years ago when I first bought it, it keeps saying it's already been activated - yes it has BY ME, so not worth the trouble. community is pretty much dead anyway.

Hey, the game's not great with randoms, but it's awesome with a regular group. I enjoyed it quite a bit when I was younger.

Fired it up recently, and ran into the low framerate issue everyone was talking about. After some digging, I discovered that if you update your local Python installation to any version newer than 2.7.10, it should run at 60+ again.

https://www (dot) python (dot) org/downloads/release/python-2717/ In case the URL gets censored: Python 2.7.17. I don't think that's even the latest version anymore, but that was the version I got it to work with.

Happy Haunting, everyone!

It had good vision, but poor execution. This game is way too pricey which drives a lot of people away, plus no one ever just casually plays anymore. Buy it on GeTwoA for like seven dollars for you and your friends, don't waste money on this. Just go play DbD.

The game is completely unwinnable for the innocent. Playing with friends, after the killer's game crashed, they spent over an hour before finally escaping. If the killer is actually able to play you can't make it more than 20 minutes. Also, the game crashes every other time you try to play a game and will occasionally limit you to 15 fps. Dogshit game definitely not worth $20.

Game is dead. Devs just abandoned patching the game. Frame rate issues and low graphics are common problems for everyone in the game. But in other hands going back to 2015 and 16 this game had the most original idea in its category.

Damned

This will be a in depth long review. For the summarised TL;DR scroll too the bottom of the review.

Damned is a horror game that pits one monster against four survivors, it plays similar in style to most horror games of it's generation in the sense you have to click and drag to open doors. Batteries power your light source and you have no real way to fight back against a monster. So you have to use your wits and hide in spots where the monster can't see you, or run as fast as your little legs can take you in the hopes that the monster vanishes before he/she can finish you off. As a survivor your main aim of the game is to find keys, to gain access to new rooms where you will need to find more keys in order to finally make your escape. It sounds pretty simple and straight forward, but believe me it can be quite challenging to find said objects as some of them are hidden in strange spots.

As the monster it is your job to kill the survivors before they can make their great escape. To aid you on your murderous rampage you have a "trap" skill which can create situations in where survivors will struggle to find objects and navigate the map. Once you've set enough traps and enough time has passed, you can materialise and hunt down the survivors. With the exception of Mary who is always materialised, but she has the downside of slower speed and a teleport ability which isn't easy to control. Once all you've materialised kill as many as you can before you "vanish" once more. Traps can dim lights, spawn hands that slow targets, cause radios to turn on and off, even cause a room to darken to the point where a flashlight no longer produces any help in the form of light.

Overall Damned is a fun little horror game to play with friends, if the game chooses to work the day you want to play it that is. Let me start listing every single detail that I despised of this game starting with it's horrible menu and home screen. First off you can't play Damned without first having to sign up with 9heads game studio, so you can register and play their game. Map selecting hardly ever works the way you want it to as you have to click "random" again before selecting "select map" option. Leaving it on random for some reason resulted in the game selecting the 3 same maps over and over again. Flash lights have no indication as to how far along the batteries are charge wise, leading to you having to guess "Oh does the flashlight work for 1 minute or 5 minutes". Batteries found around the map can be picked up no matter what UNLESS you just picked up a battery in which case it will say "battery full". This presented a problem in a very frustrating way, because how are you supposed to be able to tell how far along your flashlight is? This meant that you had to play a guessing game each time you passed batteries. Opening a door as I've mentioned above uses the click and drag function, although "fun" it gets old really quickly when you realise the controls handle like garbage. It's as if your character is trying to open a door without knowing what push or pull even means, dragging the mouse down sometimes opens it a small fraction. Pushing it up sometimes did the same, leaving you to question yourself "Am I the idiot here?".

Then there is the wonderful bug of either getting stuck, or your screen not returning to normal at all after the monster used a "Darken" trap. Remember how I said traps that can slow you in the form of hands? Well somehow you can also get stuck on said hands when you pass over them just as they are about to disappear into the earth. Somehow your character would get stuck and you'd be unable to move for the remainder of the game. Some maps are great, while others are bland, or simply a re-texture of a previous map with the odd extra box or room here and there. Damned was only ever "fun" when I played it with friends, but only for one or two games before you realise you are playing a mess and the "fun" you are having isn't with the game, but with your friends instead. Think you can play the game without friends? Sorry to say but the game has an "active" community of maybe 10 players. So you'd be really lucky to find a game at all, because chances are its also a bunch of friends playing together. Lets not forget weird optimisation, which led to some of us being unable to play in full screen, otherwise the game would crash. Some areas on the map would also allow you to fall beneath the map with no way of resetting your position or getting back, forcing you to quit the game and re-launch.

Lastly lets talk price. When Damned first came out it had a steep price of 30-40 USD, mind you I'm doing a conversion here from my countries currency. That in itself is a crime, this game REALLY isn't worth the price tag it had back then. That was until a recent sale caught my eye, I looked at the price tag and would you believe me if I told you that the original price tag had now been replaced with a price tag of 15 USD? And on sale I decided I'll pick up the 4-pack because it was 5 USD. We had our fun, a whole 2 hours of it. But that's about it, if you liked the game good on you. But I do not recommend it, nor do I think you should waste your money on getting it. There are similar games, that did it way better than Damned out there with a far more reasonably price tag.

TL;DR

Damned is a "fun" game to play with friends, but it's riddled with game breaking bugs and "loads" of maps that are copy paste with a new box in the corner or a window that wasn't there before. Survivors are bland and killers feel just as uninspired. Don't waste your money on a game with a dead community and lack of passion in the actual game from the devs side.
I rate this game a 3/10.

Game is buggy at times and doesn't seem to receive any support. It is unfortunate because the concept is great. But the bugs and the connection issues make it impossible to play. Also, the fact that nobody plays it, makes it hard to play it.

Tried this game when it came out, before Dead by Daylight or Friday the 13th or any other game like it. It was a cool original idea at the time and though it felt incomplete, I remember thinking how great it could be someday with the right imagination powering it. And then they completely abandoned the game without ever really finishing it. The fact that this game is still here being sold for $20 is fraud. Buy Dead by Daylight or something else instead. Other people have come along with the vision to actually finish and support their games. Don't buy this.

Great game for the price. Unfortunately the developers have abandoned the game. Even the fan base and the discord channel they had has gone quiet for some time now. There is currently no other game like this one on the market (as far as steam goes). A 4v1 horror game. The atmosphere is great, the ambiance is on point, and the monsters are terrifying. Turning gamma all the way up makes it just barely light enough to see without a flash light which means when played properly it is quite dark and unnerving.

The only issues with this game is mostly due to being abandoned and overall negligence. 1. The game doesn't install properly upon download. Instead of installing Python for you, you have to hunt it down in the game files and install it yourself. Not sure if that is something that can be automated, but considering older games manage to auto install pre-requisite programs before, I don't see why not. 2. Some monsters are quite obviously more powerful than others. Phantom is basically just cheating with how easy it is to spot players and how quickly it moves. Every time one of my friends would play Phantom, they would get record time kills. 3. Some maps are MASSIVE. Pog Champs is just monstrous and with how overwhelming monsters can be, this leads to an assured victory to the monster simply through attrition. I spent 5-10 mins running around on the wrong floor before finding the players and then immediately killed them all in a span of 30 secs with Phantom.

TL;DR
Great horror game to play with friends. No friends? No game. Developers abandoned the game, and the fan made discord channel is about as lively as a Phantom dancing on the corpses of the players he just killed. Monsters need some balance tweaking. Maps can be too massive to possibly win as survivors.

Can't believe I forgot to write a review for this game :x

Damned is actually the best asymmetrical horror game I ever played.

For sure there are other great games like dbd or f13 when it was released, but damned is different, since it's a "real" horror game, in which u can only hide or run away. The tension is real, compared to dbd, f13 or other games like that, in which u just bully the monster together with other skilled survivors ;>
Game is dead and has framerate issues nowadays. But if You have 4 friends to play with and u can get it for cheap, i would give it a try. Was always pretty awesome to play it again after years. It never failed and was as good as playing it for the first time.

This game is dead, just like the reviews say. I played this game early on in its life and it’s fun to go back to for nostalgia if you have friends to play with. I believe this game could come back from the dead if the developers decided to work on it. Big issues gameplay wise revolve around the balance. Today while playing with friends I didn’t remember the monsters being so OP except for phantom which always was a problem. Fix that, or even better fix the key locations and quantity so survivors actually have a chance. We tried a game with no monster hostility to see if we could even find all the keys since each game our monster won and I got motion sick from looking around for so long and we gave up. I remember back in the day it wasn’t That hard to win as a survivor. I sincerely hope they come back to revive this dead game. It still gives amazing and hilarious scares but as it is now I can not recommend it

Although i had fun playing this game, the developers of the game delivered an unstable game which had to much sync issues.

I was really hoping to play this game more without stability issues when i noticed all developers abandoned the game so no future updates where announced.

The game is unfinished, buggy, but the idea was fun.

For the same kind of games i would recommend something like Dead by Daylight or Phasmophobia.

DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE OF BUYING THIS GAME. I AM 99% SURE YOU ARE GOING TO REFUND IT WITHIN 30 MINUTES. 5 FPS at lowest settings, so I assume that is just how the game is designed. Runs code in background like it was made 20 years ago. Got 4 other people to play with me and NONE of us could get in game and actually play, everyone just gets disconnected.

Pros:
Four different monsters that give you a little variety in hunting methods.
You can mess with your friends. It is incredibly easy to win as the monster.
It is currently $4.

Cons:
The visual effect while you roam around as the monster makes some people nauseous/disoriented.
Dead player base, in house is the only viable option.
Survivors need to find an excess of keys, it gets old quickly.
Maps are not well made.
No visual effect when you are killed as survivor. Your body simply flops over and it says you died.
FPS issues, as low as 5 fps in the loading screen (Mine was fixed after setting the game to fullscreen and resetting my PC)
In game fps often locks at something low, for me it was 44 fps.

If your like me, you probably watched a YouTuber play this and thought it looked fun. And it actually is to a point.
Pros:
- 4 monsters to play as, with different abilities, strengths, weaknesses, etc.
- Large maps, feeling like a maze at certain times and the aura of hopelessness it sets in.
- Multiplayer based, fun with friends.
- Very simple design of graphics and fps, shouldn't take up a lot of Ram and all that.
- Easy to get the hang of.
Cons:
- Dying player base, can only find maybe a few players left if it hasn't already shut down it's servers.
- Abandoned by devs, incomplete and not getting anything new.
- Controls, animations, sounds, etc. are clunky and not good quality.
- Multiple maps that are just redesigns of one map, all large and built like a maze.
- Fps is awful on anything newer than 2018, crashing and freezing are common.
- No other gamemodes, only one that it only differs if the survivors or the monster win.

I'm sure there are more things I could list for either category but these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. When it first came out it was alright and it had a promising future, much like Phasmophobia at this time, but fell through the floor before any real work could be done on it. If you want to waste your money on it, I recommend doing it if it's on sale but I don't think it will be soon otherwise don't waste it.

Let's be honest here. This game is bad. Not worth even the couple of euros it was on sale. The gameplay is laggy, the maps are repetitive to a point beyond annoying. The "monster" just stands there. It's a really fun game that I actually think is better than Dead By Daylight (lol) even though it's cheaper and more simple.

Sadly the playerbase has moved on to other games by now.

I bought it during Early Access and played while it was still active. Was really fun! Great atmosphere in this game.

It's a great game if you have friends to play with now that there are basically no servers left online.

I'm hoping to see more games like this in the future.

As for the gameplay it's really simple but fun:

Survivor = Find keys for doors, find numeric codes for safes, find crowbar for removing boards to exit doors.

Monster = Kill all survivors.

I can't believe this turd is still going for 20 dollars.
