Well 3.5hrs into the game and played all the maps and only lost against the AI once. Lots of improvements can be made, like hot keying the portals and improve auto turret or claymore placement. Currently at best a $5 to 10 dollar game.

Interesting concept, but even after 2 years post release into EA, its just so undercooked, and janky, i cannot justify recommending it, especially since to play properly you will want to rope a few friends into buying in too.

The dev team states its nearly at a 1.0 state, but i'm sorry it feels like a pre alpha still.

I really liked this game's concept. If you play as FPS (4 players) you have to defend your plasma cannon (center of the base) until you can use it to destroy the enemy's portals (Apparently when the timer ends, you can destroy all the portals, not just 1, so the game ends in favor of FPS players). You also need to build your base around the plasma cannon, defend generators and gather resources. If you play RTS (1 player) you need to spawn creeps (7 types of monsters), upgrade them and make your strategy to kill the FPS players. You can fully control the creeps. With a couple of friends or more online players I think you can have really fun time with this. I also think some more work could be done on the performance part, even though this is an indie multiplayer game.

Really like the concept, and it functions which is more than most games that try to break the mould. Sadly it lacks the finesse and polish required to get my friends to jump aboard. Balance is always going to be a nightmare :/ I really hope you continue to work on this, and maybe hire some help to smooth out the animations and mechanics. I'll be watching and waiting until then! :) Good luck!

This has a lot of potential, I hope they keep making this game better! one thing I would love to see is more customization for the RTS player, like being able to change the demon summon limit without using AI bots to make it go higher.

While the concept is good and the quality of the graphics is also good, at the moment the game is highly imbalanced. The difficulty of winning as an FPS player (due to the long time needed for the plasma cannon to charge) and the ease with which an RTS player can build massive forces that are nearly unstoppable, make the outcome of a match nearly predetermined. If the sides were balanced, perhaps by making RTS unit production harder or accelerating FPS victory when all three generators are working, it would be a very good game worth playing and worth the money. Right now, it isn't worth the money and rapidly becomes very irritating.

I dont mean to be a dick or to even bash the game at all, the concept is actually really good and the fun is all there with friends and the RTS vs FPS idea i just dont think you've quite hit the 1.0 mark at this point to be honest. For starters in game it is very boring listening to the ai constantly say "enemy here" and the AI themselves are very sub par in the facts they will blatantly ignore revives or just get plain steamrolled. Secondly i just found there to be very little diversity in weapons and equipment in general i know that can be added in and touched base upon but for 2.5 years and a 1.0 release with a $14 ticket price i definitely expected more than a shotgun and m16 with afew ammo kits med kits etc just didnt seem very exciting or appealing to me at all.

The FPS players seem to reign supreme overall if they work together with spells almost being the only exception that an RTS player will overly succeed and dominate the enemy team, and for the love of god just alittle music in the background please, i mean you got this trailer that screams DOOM vibes with the music and then you get in game and all you hear is "enemy here" lol. The Tutorial is nice and does layout the ground works for base building and getting started it is very friendly that way but after that i feel more should be added in as well objective wise or at east side objectively with more freedom for the player to do a slight bit more than stand in one spot or maybe even just more to build or just something, once again that can be touched on as is and feedback is needed for that hence why im writing this review

All in all i did enjoy the concept and i fully respect your work and time you have put into this keep going at it and im sure you'll have a masterpiece as of right now though im not sure if i can justify spending the $14 on it, pre alpha is abit harsh for sure but this is not a full release it doesnt matter where it is coming from guys or if it is AAA it matters what is here now, be honest help the man get the game he wants out there. Thanks for your time.

There's a lot of neat ideas and I did have some fun, just lacking a severe amount of polish. Severe server issues, actual gameplay feels really inconsistent, like upgrading doesn't feel very consistent and gunplay falls flat. Good options in the customization for smaller groups, but right now it's hard to recommend it, maybe if the dev stays with it and makes it feel actually good to play.

Had the game since it first came out. Really great concept and good implementation. I've had an absolute blast playing it with my friends and it's one of our favorites when we can get enough people for it. Every new update is cool and worthwhile and I love testing out the new mechanics. Highly recommend you buy it and buy copies for all your friends!

Dark Prospect is a game with so much potential for fun among friends. the 8 hours I have put into the game has been a fun and entertaining experience. for a one man shop this game is a home run. to Play an FPS Vs RTS with your friends is immersive and fun, it tickles multiple gamer types. I hope this game continues to grow and build on its great foundation.

Gentleman of Excessive Weight

It's a really great concept and the foundation is there, but I think this game would really benefit from:
- Background music, or at least musical queues when certain things happen
- More noises from the monsters especially idle noises
- More weapons, items, building parts, and devices like the turret
- Either a better voice for the announcer (seriously the current one is pretty grating especially because she speaks very often) or non-verbal sounds to clue the players that their generator/plasma gun is being attacked
- Different cosmetic player characters to choose from like in Killing Floor
- (This one is the hardest to implement) player specializations/classes to pick from

This is a good game with a great concept. I love it!!
My only issue atm is that there is no singleplayer option for the overlord. I hope that this is planned for in the future as it would make this great game even greater.
But would highly recommend this! :DD

Just played it, I highly recommend it with friends. I suggest the humans get some mild buffs. Or more ammo. Also probably should let the soldiers have more connected human players. Also maybe the overlord should have an economy system so I cant spam as hard. Fun game but I pulled punches when playing with friends.

It's a really interesting premise. Although, I feel balance should be worked on. There's a lot less strategy than I had hoped for but it all works. There was some difficulties with units being stuck. I am eager to see how it will change

interesting multiplayer focused game that has a zero players ....sadly
if you have friends to play with, this might be fun.

but if you are solo player, all you can do is ...tutorial.
you will face the blank page- the empty server list.

I really like the game. It's definitely worth $10 if you have some friends to play with. Probably not worth it if you're playing alone. The AI make good teammates but after a few solo rounds you feel like you've learned the whole system. Will be checking in on the game from time to time.

This game is a labor of love and it shows. If you like games where its 4 vs monster you're in luck. If you like games where its RTS you're in luck. If you,re like me and you love hybrid RTS and FPS you found a diamond in the rough. i have faith that this game can get somewhere.

For the price i say its a steal.

If you nee you can buy it for your friends too.

and most importantly fear is there because if another person is controlling the AI there are instances that only another human being can come up with.

Day 1 Impression:

Direct and to the point. A FPS vs RTS!

The FPS side has a fun construction element to it. It is clear they have good FPS knowledge that they are building from. If you like FPS, you are ready to play this game and enjoy it. You can practice single player FPS in training.

The RTS side has a C&C like play to it. Much like most past RTSvsRTS games. You have 3 bases and you can build units out of them. I would say that the makers do not have a good grasp on the RTS side of the game but it has promise once RTS people give good feedback. They can only build the RTS side up from where they are now. You can not yet practice RTS in training but I am sure it will come around eventually.

* I would like to see being able to set more waypoints from the spawn point. This will allow me to automate some tasks for faster response.

*Being able to set quick keys would be useful for switching between locations of interest to me.

tl;dr: It's early access, it needs some polish but it's very playable with active developers. It's worth the money right now if you're comfortable playing a relatively stable game that needs some work.

I can only review the FPS side of things, since I haven't really played the RTS side, and this is an early access, first release build review. I'm probably going to be too lazy to come back and update this later, just keep that in mind.

Combat is relatively simple and standard run and gun, that's a good thing if you're in the mood for that. Having a human control the enemies adds a nice twist, you can't just predict them and mindlessly mow them all down.

Gathering, building and manufacturing needs some work. It's all there, it just needs some polish to the interface and maybe a balance pass to make prices cheaper or resources gather faster depending on the number of people on the FPS side.

Interface needs some polish, but it's perfectly usable.

Stability is good, no crashes for me yet.

Developers are active in the discord.

Value, for $10? Worth the money. I've paid more for worse games.

My thoughts on this game... Its a great concept, its surprisingly fun.... Pros = Unique game concept..Awesome metal music radio, quick games, cheap price. Cons = Not the best of grahpics, need a FOV slider (which he did say he would add to the game since I played a game or two with the dev), trying to click a enemy to attack them while your RTS mode can be difficult ( trees etc block you from clicking on enemy sometimes) And this con is more a personal preference but I like to be able to swap between my buildings with cntrl binds like 1,2,3.. On here its H and J. Now I am not sure but you might be able to change this in game. Overall I'd recommend this game simply because the unique style and the cheap price. Give it a shot and remember its EA and not a triple A title so don't be expecting some sexy grahpics or something and you will enjoy it.

My first experience with this game was building a giant wall to protect us against artillery, and losing my mind over having to go out and gather MORE resources because that damn monster tore it down. It was a hard fought battle that my wall unfortunately did not survive... it will be missed.

My second experience was going through a dark forest trying to find the objectives. In I walk through the barn door, and I see a box. I go to look at it and see I can interact with it, and thus I do. All of a sudden epic metal riffs are blaring through the surrounding area, and I am in awe. It is beautiful. I have decided that this new piece of technology shall follow me in my journey no matter what I face, and it shall be glorious. As I go to pick it up, I accidentally just tap the interact button and... the channel changes. Tears of joy welled in my eyes as it fully dawned on me what I had just discovered. The ensuing hours were filled with my dropping the radio to play my epic battle theme and mow down the enemy on my way to conquer the RTS player, who thought I was absolutely insane.

It's rough around the edges, and by no means perfect yet, but it's an Early Access game! I have legitimately played with the developer, so I know he cares, and I myself have fallen in love with it.

Also, the radio is my new waifu.

This game by no stretch of the imagination is a complete game. There is still a lot to add and a lot to balance out The community is still pretty small so there are times where picking up a game is pretty hard. All that being said. This is a game with large potential. Its developed by a small team but I have witnessed first hand how active this team is. They keep in touch with their community via their discord and they allow the community to interact with the builds. From being able to name the first few bots (My personal favorite is Botty_McBotFace) to deciding what next big feature is in the game. This game is still rough around the edges. But it has great potential. All in all. I recommend.

It's a cool game. I had a blast playing this game with my friends. I am a big RTS player and most of my friends like FPS games, so this game was a big yes to me.
I played both roles and I like them both. There is definitely a room for improvement while playing as the overlord.
Just thinking from the top of my head:
- I would appreciate key binding on SHIFT, with each shift + number adding new units to the existing group and CTRL + group creaing a new group (reseting the key from the previously binded units/buildings).
- Adding an attack move
- Adding some formation controls (guard, patrol, etc.)
I haven't played the game recently so if any of these had already been implemented, I am sorry. Also I am not sure if you can switch between groups using TAB but I believe it was possible the last time I played it.
Lastly, I would like to say, good job devs! Keep it up. This game is fun :)

So me and my friends got this game on a whim, because it looked like a fun. So here we go.

Pros.
So this game has been allot of fun for both FPS and RTS. For RTS, you start off feeling like a god controlling what your opponents do because they have little to nothing. Then as the game counts down, it gets a little harder. Mind you, this is as we start learning how to play.
In RTS, getting to control where your units go and who to attack is amazing.
In FPS, Gun play feels good. Building buildings and upgrading them is an awesome addition to protecting your objective.
You can go down fast if you dont know what your doing so be careful.

Cons.
Manual relaoding on guns. Sucks. But can be dealt with without issues. Going down is wonky but can be over looked. Aiming is weird but I can get used to it.
RTS wise, controlling units is weird. It feels good in terms of starcraft or warcraft feel but needs a bit of polishing. Trees tend to get in the way from point of view and i get why you see them, but i feel like the trees should be more transparent for the RTS person. Sometimes you'll be clicked on all your units when you dont want to be and they all go where you tried clicking on a small group to attack. The video shows you being able to tilt the camera while in RTS, but i have yet to find it. would make playing RTS a bit better.

Game-wise cons. Ping and lag are an issue if you have too many bots in the game. This is a 4v1 game, so try not to have more then that even if your just going against bots. Bots are stupid so i suggest with friends or other people to play with.
Game needs some polishing game play wise. Im hoping the developers focus more on game play, rather then graphics soon, because graphics are not bad by any means. Balance is a little weird. Being able to make bug tanks that are hard to kill int eh beginning of the game feels wrong.

Overall Thoughts. This game is amazing despite bugs in it. Me and my friends have only played a very short time but are already looking forward to see what else comes up with this game. FPS feels good, RTS is fun, and over game is amazing in it own right. If your planning to get this game, have friends to start off with, but if your feeling like you cant wait for that, there is a discord where you can find people. The game is worth it in my opinion as long as the developers keep up witht he game and make it better because it holds allot of potential already from what we have played. We are looking forward to more int he future.

This was honestly a really fun game to play in early beta. Then they changed the price of the game to 12 dollars. Now don't get me wrong here i'm not against game costing money and want everything for free its just that the game is really overpriced. I would be willing to but they game at most 7 dollars but 12 for this game in my opinion the price just isn't worth it.

this is one of my favorite rts/fps hybrids, a reason for my liking towards this game is because you can kinda roleplay with the rts Npc's, you can plan and use strategic motions to win over the enemy, but just because you can have an army doesn't mean the fps players have an advantages, your able to lay traps, set up machine gun post, build fortified structures, theres some stealth here and there but overall through my going off topic review i can say that i had a very fun time playing this game.

The game is simple: one team is filled with FPS players who must create and protect a base, while the other one is made of one RTS player who controls creatures and send them after the players to destroy the base and either kill all the FPS players or destroy the main building.
There are five maps that force you to change your strategy in each of these. Coordination with your friends will be necessary to survive the enemy's relentless assaults. However the mechanism are simple enough for both sides to master the game fast enough.
This game is extremely enjoyable with friends, and contrary to what the description might indicate, you can play with more than five players (the FPS team can be made of six players for example, which will in return allow the RTS player to summon more monsters).
If you want to really enjoy the experience, make sure you can play with other people. Once you get through this, you'll definitely have a good time. Main critic I would give is that there's not a huge amount of content, but it's filled enough to enjoy it for a good time and the dev is pretty active, updating the game regularly.

Foodmuncher80

Its got a great concept, yet it doesn't execute it well enough. Winning as the RTS is pretty much impossible against 3 or more people. Even the AI couldn't defeat me and my friends on max difficulty, after we barely know how to play. They seriously need to do some re balancing on the RTS side of things.
