Very few players play this game now and the developers stopped developing this game years ago. Should be free if completely honest.
Really great, not quite as realistic as Post Scriptum or Hell Let Loose, but it scratches that same itch while being more approachable. Casual, but unforgiving. Gameplay wise, it is very similar (if not identical other than time period) to Insurgency.
Unfortunately, it is completely devoid of real people at most hours of the day. I recommend it in the hopes more players will be drawn and Devs take a second look at it.
Game's pretty much dying, a shame because it's honestly really fun
only get this if you want to play against bots.
This is one of my favorite WW2 PC games. It works with my Mac, even though I cant play everything I can play in the Practice mode and this is super fun! I would and have recommended this game to others. If you like History and a good battle game, this one is for you.
It says a lot that this game is basically dead, and I was still able to have a blast in it. If you like Insurgency, you'll definitely enjoy this (even for full price).
People need to understand is that sandstorm was announced BEFORE DOI was launched. All DOI was is just a test of the updates to the game and its features as well a generate revenue to finish sandstorm. DOI is just WW2 sandstorm and it was something that the community asked for because of the success of the Insurgency mod where it got its start.
this game is like a cheeseburger, when you play it its good but its hard to eat because it all falls out. but i still like cheeseburgers and this may infact be a cheeseburger so i would eat it and stuff
One of those hidden gems. One of the best WW2 shooters, but playerbase is dwindling.
If you like CSGO, Battlefield, any source game or even CoD, you should try this.
Honestly the best gun play I've seen in a game ever besides Post Scriptum.
The weapons are very good and very realistic for a arcade video game the only issue is range because the maps are small.
Each weapon is faction based so you don't see others using the same guns unless they scavenge it in game after killing.
The dialogue of the characters and bots are very satisfying they also speak the language of there race/nation, fantastic immersion.
Using the divisions as a character customisation was a brilliant idea, the grind is very long to get all but you can buy it on the market if you really want all.
I wish future games could take note from this game and use some of it's aspects to help create a perfect game.
Pretty good (Insurgency in WWII setting), but I cannot recommend a dead game. I would revisit it if it went free to play
This game really does not deserve to be as dead as it is. It's my favorite WW2 game ever and as a tactical shooter it even outshines Insurgency for me, which says something considering that it was suppose to be a spin-off on a mod. I can't think of a single other game where bolt-actions are so satisfying to use, machine guns that will shred entire teams into cheese, flamethrowers that aren't a joke but instead an absolutely terrifying weapon that will either flush you out or burn your screaming corpse to a crisp from a distance further than 10 feet. Don't even get me started on the bombardments, no other game even comes close to authentically simulating being shelled and suppressed to such an extent that you literally cannot move without dying. Back in the hayday of this game I played the hell out of pvp and I saw some incredible plays of massively outnumbered players with no reinforcements or retreat, facing an enemy team that just kept throwing wave after wave and dropping every piece of ordnance available. Every rare occasion when we'd win in a circumstance like that it would be like Art of War being proven true before my eyes. Ultimately I gotta say a real critique of war is having to sit through a massive bombardment on an objective that's simultaneously being smoked and suppressed to hell, before you finally die (Especially if you're playing the WW1 mod). Make this game free, bring it back and let it thrive once again! But if that doesn't happen, at least there are bots and still workshop support which are pretty suitable to relive the experience, pick it up on sale if you still haven't.
NWI killing it mannnn
It’s like an improved version of Insurgency, just WW2.
Sound design is impeccable, as always. And the soundtrack, my god, the soundtrack. Beautiful. Very Star Wars-esque.
Fire support is incredibly fun and the gun play is top notch.
Only issue is not very many players. Would be great if they did a few free weekends or something to get people in the game :/
Very fun WWII shooter. Extremely immersive and genuinely unique equipment. However, this game is not active, at all. It was fun playing it before but now its impossible for me to say "I Recommend". If you asked me years ago, this would 100% be a thumbs up.
I miss this game and I wish that this game was still worked on. I remember the good times of running around and bayoneting someone in the chest, or low crawling past some suppressive fire from someone using an MG42 from the hip.
Good times, and I hope that one day some cool update or community mod brings it back into action so we can once again see all those servers fill back up.
Good times, good gun play, good sounds, and fun maps
good game. its one of those games that if you really wanna play you find a coordinated group who plays. its the fate of a lot of games like this.
This game is absolutely great, one of the best multiplayer PvP FPS games ever made, and yet I cannot recommend this game in good faith.
This game is fun, tactical, unique, and addictive. The graphics are surprisingly great for Source, the sound design is better than many triple A games, the game has an amazing soundtrack, really cool artwork, close attention to detail on all weapons, and is well-balanced. I was a masterpiece; back when people played it.
It's fucking dead.
A game doesn't need 50,000 concurrent players to be good, sure, but this game hasn't even reached triple digits in PEAK PLAYERS in two months, right now it has TWENTY FIVE players online. If this was a co-op shooter like Payday: The Heist (aka Payday 1) or Killing Floor 1, this would hardly matter, but this is a PvP team based shooter, you honestly need at least 14 players for this game to feel somewhat proper, because two guys fighting three guys in a French village completely shatters the immersion this fairly realistic game is trying to have. When I last played this game, like 10 people would be on a server and the other 15 would be doing co-op PvE or would be fucking around in nearly empty servers.
What this game needs is to either be updated again, advertised heavily by NWI (because this game is a gem that needs basically no actual programming anymore), or go free to play. It wouldn't be a TF2, sure, but there's zero way in hell this game makes NWI any money. I understand that Sandstorm is the priority and NWI is small, but it's such a shame to see what was once a phenomenal shooter become a rotting corpse. I would pay up the ass for a DOI2 with all of the prior features and the Japanese and Soviets, but sadly that may never happen.
Day of Infamy is very very good. I give it a solid 9/10. The only bad thing about this game is the player base. If you are looking for more of the multi player modes then you are mostly going to be playing with bots. However if you are happy to play Coop ( Real players bots ) which is loads of fun then this is for you. The games feels very real in terms of its damage model and the fact that there are no crosshairs. The community is amazing and uplifting there are no cheaters or sweaters. In genral just a supurb game.
hopped on tonight to play for the first time in a long time only to find 1 person online
RIP DOI
Forever a classic. Forever in my heart
Love this game, casual with bots and co-op is still alive and great, mods make it even better
Game has officially died now that the developers have moved on :/ I'd love to be proven wrong when a youtuber plays this again and we can all play again but til that day I'd suggest not buying it.
Nice fun WW2 shooter. Reminds me of the old shooters. Fast kills, good feeling, weapons. Small but enjoyable community.
Cool & Epic & Wholesome & Fun & Family Friendly & Yeah. Only downside is that the AI teams cheat because their Sore Losers &/or South East Asian.
One of the best WW2 games ever made but sadly it's been dead for a while
One of the best ww2 simulators
Most underrated WW2 game of all time.
The only way to make a game not dead is to play it. So don't listen to the people saying it's dead, it's got a decent population playing right now, so please help to get it back on it's feet!
WWII, co-op, smart AI, mod support (runs on Source), gritty realism, and awesome gunplay. Even if you cant find a server with people on it, its still great fun on singleplayer. There's still a LOT of potential with this game in terms of expansions, and I hope NWI finds a way to revive it. Making it FREE would be a great start, and adding in realistic cosmetics/customization could be a good alternate monetization scheme.
I plan to stick around, hope some of you drop by on the co-op servers!
Great fun and well constructed game.
If this game had 300 average players+ at all times, it would be the best WW2 FPS game out there. At this time, there's only a few active servers.
Strangely my favorite ww2 fps for some reason
The game is good, The problem is that it has the same amount of population as chernobyl.
This game should not be on sale for $15 any more. The official servers aren't even online anymore.
This really is a fantastic WWII FPS. The Weapon handling is top notch. The AI is surprisingly smart. Weapons and nades have a soldi feel to them. They did a great job at making familar maps (Omaha Beach) feel new and original. Its one thousand times a better game than day of defeat without drifting into BF1942 territory.
Graphics are solid.
Pick it up on a steam sale. Its well worth the couple of bux they charge.
It's a fun game and a very underrated WW2 shooter, and in my opinion well worth the money. Recommended!
Fills the gap between FPS and full-on tactical games.
Yea, it's actually pretty good, basically Day of Defeat 2.0.
Dead tho
Insurgency but in WW2. Was great when it came out but Its slowly dying out since insurgency sandstorm exists. Still a good game if you liked insurgency's gameplay and ww2
I bought this to see how it would go on my pc turns out it runs on max everything, i bought this game a while back i played earl access and bought it for 20 dollars and played it on laptop this world war shooter has realistic damage physics when it comes to firearm engagement with a-i and human players. Enjoyed playing it.
Game is good but waste of money very disappointed honestly.. unfair teams and only 1 server has players its usually old players who think its their game which you end with very very very toxic players I like the game but its not fun.
Its a good REALISTIC game cuz it has no ammo counter just like cum shots
It was a great game. It was the game that introduce the support callouts that would be present in Sandstorm. Too bad it is dead and no one remember this game anymore. Pretty sad to since the gunplay and sound was on point.
Is a good game, but its dead now
Very fun WW2 game to play with friends
The gun play is amazing, the bots are also very good
Great game but its dead, eh idc payd 3$ for it.
Flamethrower can't shoot through fences, thats all i'm saying
Solid gameplay and sound design, a must have for any WW2 enthusiast. Runs well on lower end PCs too as a bonus
i would recommend great game. wish they added more cenarios.
Awesome game! just shows what could be done if valve ever decides to make a day of defeat 3!!!
one of the few decent ww2 games on the market right now
fun game to play when you are getting shit on by silvers in csgo
This game was amazing in so many ways, sad to see that the servers are now completely dead. I recommend it only for the memory of the masterpiece that it was when it was populated.
THIS GAME IS AWESOME GUYS TRY IT
No one really plays this anymore. Most of my hours are in the offline mode playing against bots. The movement does not feel very good, and it is overall not a particularly good game.
decent enough, kinda lazy in some aspects
had potential but it is completely dead now
It is basically Insurgency with WWII weapons, and like Insurgency, it is a dead game. This game is similar to Day of Defeat, but it would probably be actually historically accurate if they really tried to make it a sequel to DoD (made it like the original).
Good hour or two, then its too linear, looking forward to the future of this game
I liked this game way back when there are still people playing it
When will we get Day of Infamy Germanstorm?
Not that bad....Not that bad....
I'll give it 6.8 Ammo Supplies out of 10
Underrated game. Needs more active players.
Good game about WW2 but last time I played it there wasn't much players playing but still good game
10/10 Great game while it was still alive. Sadly its been abandoned RIP DOI.
I'm sorry...but multi-player sucks ass! I'm so tired of not being able to enjoy a game because some snot-nosed punk wants to camp, cheat, be toxic, etc. I play video games to ESCAPE these things....not to invite them into my personal life!
Day of Infamy is a properly dead game, however, it is a multiplayer game that holds a special place in my heart because there has been very little like it. Not because it is a fantastic game, it is an average team shooter. But it has some of the strangest design features that are unlike any game. Specifically, it allows for client side modding of textures and sounds in a public, competitive shooter. And this makes it one of the most fun and casual shooters I have ever seen. Whether this was the intention or if it was to allow the community to develop more realism on its own terms I don't know. However, I still fondly look on and remember “OOF” death sounds with “BEGONE THOT” as a bomber flies overhead laying waste to a confusing and wonderful battlefield.
This game is not one that should be taken seriously, even though that is what it is going for. I really can’t explain why anyone would choose to implement such a weird feature in a game that takes itself fairly seriously. However, it has convinced me more games should do it. Too many shooters take themselves too seriously to maintain a fair experience. But sometimes I just want to mess around and have fun, and this game filled that niche in a way that no other game has since.
This is not worth buying, the game is dead and there are very few people playing it. This review serves as a love letter to what once was.
I'm going to play this game until it dies completely. Truly an underappreciated gem.
Very fun game for people who enjoy multiplayer or just leading soldiers into battle by thereselves.
Wish they kept working on this great game
Love the game. The gunplay, the voices, the uniforms, just everything about it works. 10/10 in my book.
Great shooter that introduced me to a wonderful community, cut down before it's time by the developer. This is an abandoned game that has not seen an update in years, and has been abandoned by the majority of it's population for bigger and newer WW2 shooters.
Decent..ish game, but sadly has is exploits like rocket launcher spawn camping, nade spam that sort of annoying unfair crap, oh and some of the maps, wow they are impressively bad.
Plus dead game, i can see why.
This was such an under looked game. If NWI spent a fraction of the dev time and marketing on DoI I guarantee it'd be more popular than Sandstorm. It's a shame to see a hidden classic fade away. (Make it F2P at least)
great game worth your hard earned bucks, 10/10.
insurgency but its ww2 (I CAN KILL NAZIS 10/10)
In my book, this is the upgraded version of the 1st MOH
this game is a good game it was my first paid FPS shooter game and it wasnt bad at all it can run fine and low end computers and i never had any problems with it sad i cant find any servers with people anymore and it stopped updating but i have to say it was a good game while it lasted.
