Protagonist faints mid game, confirmed lovecraftian content.

I totally recommend this!

I loved the atmosphere and the music, I was totally immersed in the story from second one. The sound keeps you in constant tension the whole game so that's a plus.
I also enjoyed all the references, especially the ones in the cemetery (didn't know about all of them but took notes of some movies to watch, so thanks devs!)
It's a short game but it's just the prologue, so I can imagine what the devs are preparing for the final game. Can't wait to see what happens next!

This is a great concept! A point and click adventure game in 3D. Really looking forward to the full game.

*I was able to play this using my Cosmos w/Index controllers by using Revive. Works perfectly.

The game looked great. I was ready to like it, even defend it though it's following the obvious scam model of calling a game "Prologue" and then never releasing anything else.

Then I bought it. It starts up just fine. The title screen looks pretty neat. That's all I got out of the game. No combination of button presses, wiggles, squeezes and other manipulations of the valve index controller did anything and I wasn't able to go past the title screen.

I even tried binding buttons (which I've never had to do before for a game to work) but the bindings make no sense. There's a "turn" action but you can't map it to the stick. You can only map it to the click of the stick (???) (and obviously that does nothing).

I'm a bit angry but mostly I'm sad because from the store page it looked awesome. :(

3.84 $CAD for a 1h "trailer game"...what a joke. i thought it started well and i wasn't expecting much but even not expecting much is asking too much. Feels like it's a project to get money for another project !!! So basically it's an intro and then.... the end.. I'm asking for a refund. It makes no sense. I've paid less for more time of gaming before. Don't buy it, you ll get everything just by looking at the trailer or my screenshots. It's nice to see Cthulhu but i mean there's better wallpapers by searching on google. Whats the purpose of this ?

UPDATE:

Developer response which i cut/paste here in case it's deleted with time:

Hello. The purpose of the game is to expand the universe of the final one (which is way longer and of course, with a more complex narrative). It's a prologue, so it's meant to be short, but for us, it doesn't make it worse (it has a lot of work behind).

We're sorry you didn't enjoy it, but thanks anyway for taking the time to give us your feedback and taking screenshots.

UPDATE ANSWER 28 th july 2021:

I guess i should have been less emotional as i was angry and felt let down by the game i bought. Let me be more rational in my criticism. I did get it was a prologue (like only partial as for example Bendy and the ink machine or Amnesia or Penumbra which i own and play all at... ), what i am saying in my review might have been clearer without my first impression (i wrote it just after finishing the prologue)...

The replayability value of the prologue is very low to none ...as to get all the achievement you redo it once. I've played contemplative games (landscape, discovery as the only goal no action really) and it doesn't have to be FPS or RPG for me to be entertained, even minimalist game i do enjoy (The plan is the greatest example of minimalist, you're a fly and you go up, avoid obstacles till you reach space and you die amongst the stars i mean there's nothing to discover... and it was free still i fell something philosophical out of it...) or even short chapters kinda games as to be proper in comparison..... BUT As a gamer, i felt like the prologue you offer is more like a "screen test", the kind you show in order to get financing to your project. As it gives a general idea of what could be, your team potential, usually the story line get more complex later on....If this is what it is, just say: guys help us financing this project, try it (at minimal cost) and will do some more. Thanks for the support !!! I would have get that. But offered as it is as a full chapter of a game, NO. Feels like it's not enough to be a chapter/intro. It really is for me just a trailer /screen test and when it ends, it feels rushed , rude and way too short. I'm not saying you all should quit and never work on creating a game, i'm giving a review of my experience for the product. I've played short stories before and i had more feeling of completion when i was ending other overture or, intro or prologue than i did with yours. I have to admit that your graphics are better than amnesia or penumbra and it's about H.P. Lovecraft which i adore. I hope this is more proper as to explain why i felt angry, disappointed and felt like it wasn't worth buying it for me. I hope my gamer opinion might make sense if you have difficulties selling it as it is or if for some reasons it get bad reviews with fewer words.

[ANSWER TO THE UPDATED COMMENT]

We get your point, but it's a subjective opinion. We did that with the demo we developed, but it was free. This is not a demo as it's exclusive content we created only for this game (music, environment, doubbed voices, motion graphics, etc). It's a complete story, with a beginning and an end, and it expands the history of one of the main characters of the final game.

I guess it depends on the player, some will enjoy, some will think it's not worth it. As an indie studio, we have limited resources and possibilities, less than big companies of course, but we put a lot of effort and illusion to make this possible.

Once again, thanks for your feedback, it's always good to keep improving and will take it into account!

UPDATE 29th July 11:05am

HI again stranger, we should make this... a thing !! (Kidding lol)

Yes it is subjective indeed, only me and i hope not that my experience become a more generalised one, truly. Gaming industry is competitive and hard and i also want more Indie studios to grow out there. I do enjoy the influence it has on the mainstream and keeps everyone on their toes for innovation even if, as you say, resources may lack. Ingenuity tho also need resources to be shown, i get that ! And as to be fair, i realised that the huge landscape focus i felt in the prologue is because you wanted to make it available on VR. I don't have a VR point of view. For VR it would make more sense i guess as we don't immerse the same way at all as for non-VR as i 'm feeding on story line even if i'm enjoying great aesthetic !! Maybe that is a game changer, i don't know. Just needed to add that too. :) Thank you for the clarifications you gave, it's worth it !

Loved the gravestone references. Looking forward to the main game.

I love everything so far but is a 20 minute demo really worth $6?

Too short!I spent more time reading and listening to the dialogue than actual gameplay!

I wanted to like this game but its impossible. Not really VR o 3D, is a 360 inmersive photo with some interactions of point and click. Puzzles too simple so it is not really changelling at all. Looks like an exercise of a Game Development master more than a profesonal project to be sold..

I really enjoyed this! Looking forward to the next chapter, too. I really appreciated the visuals, the narration, all the references to the lore, and even all the broader nods to other literature and mythologies (such as certain names in the cemetery). Super awesome job! This *feels* like Lovecraft to me, and I would very much recommend it to others.

I mean for what it is and for being $2, yeah it's decent. I enjoy the mythos and the artwork. The style of this game is definitely well done.

However, I'd still recommend getting on a sale for it being as short as it is.

This was a fun little taste of the world.
For $2 I wasn't expecting a long game, but I have to admit that something just a bit longer would have been nice.
That being said, compared with the demo of the main game that's available, this was reasonably satisfying. Especially when you consider the beautiful visuals to be had.
