Disintegration is an unpolished gem. If you want shine and facets and glitter, look elsewhere, but if you enjoy a coloured rock just as much as it's expensive processed version, then you will enjoy Disintegration.

THE GOOD

Everything a game needs is here. You play through a fun story with cutscenes, VO (hi Bangalore!) solid gameplay and sound. There's some lore to discover and beautiful landscapes. Enemies are clear and enemy-like, you have a wide range of challenges, and generally plenty of chances to use all your kit. Everything feels and sounds as a game should and you don't get pulled out of the experience much; though early on your engines and being hit can sound quite loud.

THE OKAY

The directorial playstyle - pointing troops to perform tasks, attack units and use abilities - gives you range and more abilities than you'd have alone, plus a chance to listen to your character's VO. However, it can feel linear and bland and have you pressing E to scan more often than searching the skies. The lack of your character's in-game VO makes replies to you slightly odd. Collecting objectives and speaking to allies between missions feels like a good idea, but ends up only feeling like a glorified menu and could be skipped for gameplay-only players. There's lots of empty space and no way to whip through the task quickly a second time around, like after reloading a save.
While the abilities are fun and impactful, they are often somewhat underpowered - moreso, there are only a few. I'd like to see everyone with something unique that matches their unique looks. Perhaps someone can throw healing auras, so that this isn't reliant on A) your cycle having a heal that includes your cycle and B) nanite containers existing nearby.

THE EHH

Generally, things feel AA - animations are a little dated and some decisions seem half baked. You waste a lot of time collecting very small story lines from characters between games and sometimes have to run to three corners for your challenges unnecessarily. Scrap metal feels useless and wasteful and more so when you have to wait for your units to unlock it for you rather than shooting a bullet to open a box yourself.
The battle director playstyle can be fun but needs more intelligence; a V2 should have units have more "defensive" and "offensive" modes, as well as an understanding of "huddle here and hide, something bad is about to come in" or "i'm trying to make you stand in a healing aura" as you can often direct your units to somewhere only for someone to stand beside or on top of that spot. Targeting something results in all units focussing on it, when in reality units would still shoot other enemies as they approach that target, and can often result in completely ignoring enemies to activate a heal or objective. You should also be able to queue up items; "open that box" then "activate those nanites" then (ideally wait to heal) "attack this guy" then "that guy" then "that one" and lastly "activate objective" rather than having to sit and wait for each one by one. This is all the more obvious when in the range of a scrambling unit which disables your cycle from everything but moving, and you have to vicariously eliminate units in a safe path purely by singular commands.
I'd also like to see units focus less on being where the crosshair is, but stick more to the general waypoint direction - not only would this help a player compass to the right direction, but would avoid scanning the area around you also causing your units to run about in a big circle. This can sometimes give the impression of your on-foot units being faster than a grav-cycle, which itself doesn't feel very fast.
Additionally, checkpoints should be more frequent, and a mention of the last checkpoint should show when choosing to reset so a choice can be made on how far back you're going.
A loadout option would be nice to give you the chance to try different cycles in missions with different weapons rather than what feels random, as well as the option to choose which order your units are in - so that, for example, you can get used to Doyle's ability being on 1.

For a game that truly wanted to revolutionise / combine 2 game genres never done before, its sad to see itself fail due to its own failures it was blind to reach.

It honestly ain't a bad game, but it for ain't worth the full premium price.

[list] ✅ Pros:
• The game sure has amazing graphics and atmosphere for itself, so that's a plus for it.
• Gives some 'solid' foundations for this type of genre.
• Combat feels good for what it stands for, really happy that it includes some destruction to it.
• The game goes on easy on you with RTS elements, and pretty challenging too if your into these type of games.

✴️ Cons:
• No music while out on missions (campaign)
• Multiplayer.exe not found ... for a game that has just released, its a shame.
• World is wayyy to empty, for a so called 'base' it feels like a hangar for air planes except a one without them.
• Cannot select your own grav-bike for mission nor the units.
• No customisation whatsoever for singe player, only multiplayer.
• Cinematics feel a bit ... awkward to say. (and a bit out of place sometimes)

I waited 35 minutes to get into a game that was 3v5 with a friend. Matchmaking is horrible. If your buying this for the multiplayer you should wait.

#FREEJOSHZ
#FREEJOSHZ

Major Issues

- Trying to charge 10$ for recolored versions of the skins

- Over 10 minute queue times just for the matchmaking to fail three times in a row

- Half of the menus on the screen are not clickable with a mouse cursor, you need to use the keyboard button ?

- Clunky unit controls and zero customization for bike weapons and ground units

Played this game at their booth at PAX EAST and was very excited for this release, I don't know what happened. I cant tell if its laziness on the part of the dev team or this game being pushed out too quickly, but I do not advise anybody buy the game in this state

FROZEZONE22

only did the first mission so far but the game is good so far. A major problem I am dealing with is a green flickering in every cutscene. Currently can't enjoy the game due to not being able to see the story unfold with going into a seizure. Will update the review if I can find a fix.

Edit: Still can't stop the green flickering in cut scenes which for me makes this game unplayable.

Edit: Finally got it to work can now recommend

The dialogue isn't exactly mind blowing, and the downtime area is a mess. But, it's soooo much fun to play! The combat system is smooth and rewarding. However, your unit's AI can leave a little to be desired. Multiplayer is still just as fun as it was in the technical beta, and I can't wait to get back into playing it!

I cant stress this enough and is why i'm recommending the game, its a really fun game and once you get used to the controls it becomes 10x easier and 10x more fun. I Love the game concept brings a whole new fast paced view to the command and conquer game style. However the only issues i have was i felt like the character deaths had no effect on the group, the story was very short leaving out character/enemy story endings that would leave us satisfied and there was no customisation whatsoever other than upgrades. Would have been nice to be able to choose weaponry or change clothing and pick the characters we want (however i get this would effect the story).

All in all game play was fun and id recommend it once at a lower price.

Very refreshing take for a game, I love the way it plays out as a FPS and RTS.

I was more than pleased with that I got for this game. I would not recommend this game if they had just left it as multiplayer only. The mp is fun, but it isn't as good as the world building and story of the campaign. The game is rough around the edges but for a studio's first time making a game I'm glad to see they took a risky step and blended genres.

The RTS elements are fairly simple even for someone like me that doesn't play a lot of RTS games. I would recommend playing the campaign on hard (Maverick) if you want to always stay on your toes. The shooting feels powerful and whipping across the battlefield in a gravcycle feels smooth.

Really excited to see what this studio can do in the future. Hopefully people who are on the fence about this game will get it when it's on sale. I really think this hybrid genre can become something truly amazing.

Campaign review: Enjoyable story, excellent cutscenes and dialogue throughout. The characters are surprisingly likeable and I had a few favorites that I enjoyed seeing on a pre-mission screen. The missions give set load-outs for your grav cycle and decides your squad mates based on the mission so there's no real customization in the campaign beyond giving upgrades to your squad/self. Took me about 10 hours to complete the campaign on Maverick difficulty.

The game's combat loop shines more on the higher difficulties (I recommend Maverick, the second to highest) although it's quite punishing if you make mistakes (not being in cover when necessary, not keeping track of health bars for yourself or your squad, etc.) which can lead to restarting at checkpoints several times during tough fights. However, if you fully utilize squad cooldowns, alternate weapons, and maneuvering behind cover/dodging missiles, you'll find a far more rewarding combat experience than you will at lower difficulties where you're more able to shoot your way through most problems without having to manage the squad as much.

Managing the squad is a fairly simple affair: their standard AI will engage with just about any enemy nearby and that can lead to a lot of squad deaths if you're not keeping track of them so you right click on enemies or objects to give context-sensitive commands (Defend Here, All Attack, Open Crate, etc.). I found the best use of management was keeping an eye on health bars and alternating between keeping them standing next to healing machines (they have a tendency to run away if you don't force them to stand still) and focus firing wounded enemy units while I shifted to attacking someone else. If you soften up a target for them, they're quite effective at cleaning up after you. I had lots of fun setting up combos like Slow Field grenades stopping a huge crowd of enemies in their tracks and then unloading a Mortar Strike on them before they could escape or using Concussion Grenades to interrupt animations on big enemies while keeping the pressure with my main weapons. If you want to get the most use out of your squad, expect to be issuing commands pretty constantly to keep them moving.

EDIT: Multiplayer has been removed from this title. Leaving this portion of the review in for posterity.
I played a couple rounds of multiplayer and enjoyed it. Standard game modes with the objective based nuke-carrying one being particularly fun. Enemy units aren't as much of a threat as the gravcycles but clever use of unit abilities can still give an edge in the fight. There are no unlocks other than cosmetics and 9 'crews' to choose from (essentially different character archetypes like in a hero shooter) which means you can get right to the meat of it but the downside is currently long queue times. Both matches I played had a queue time of roughly 3-5 minutes but that was on the shorter side of queue times. Hopefully more people will play the MP regularly but I would not recommend picking this up for the multiplayer alone (although it is quite fun) outside of a sale.

Final verdict: Fun singleplayer campaign (especially on higher difficulties) with likeable characters and some excellent looking level design, multiplayer is interesting but not very populated right now. The grav cycle makes the FPS portions floaty and mobile, the RTS portion is simple but can be effective if you make sure to issue commands and use squad abilities to manage the flow of enemies. Strong recommendation when on sale.

I bought the game for the campaign and I quite enjoyed playing through it.

All in all I would advise to buy the game on a sale if you are in it for the campaign and at the moment I would advise against buying it if you are interested in the PvP aspect as that is currently non-existent due to a low playerbase

I have not tried the multiplayer yet, but I have to say I love the story and campaign gameplay. I have not run into many issues at all. I completely recommend the campaign. Price tag is a little steep but hey every game on a console cost this much, so it is what it is.

A fascination game. Well thought out PvE and wonderfull PvP ideas. While the PvE's excellence was delivered, PvP struggles with crew balancing and balanced Ttk to respawn time making for a slow pvp experience. Gives lots of destiny vibes but keeps to its own lane with a 7-8 hour campain fully completed with a story line that i would rate 7/10. This game had the potential to be great but ended up for me as a respectable above average.

Well...I wanted to really like this game, and played the entire campaign. However:
- The story is only half-baked. The chief villain is rarely seen and his demise is not satisfying. You learn very little about the characters, and that only by their few sentences before a mission.
- The graphics are pretty dismal by today's standards. The characters sometimes look fuzzy and the cut-scenes have terrible compression artifacts. And I was playing at 3440 X 1440 at epic resolution. The scenery is occasionally OK, but I just finished playing Destiny 2 and Mass Effect Andromeda, and found myself pausing repeatedly to admire the graphics in those games, which are not hot off the presses anymore. The ship where you wait between missions is the dullest interior I have ever seen in a game like this.
- After a few missions (the first few are boring), you will have seen all of the enemies that will be thrown at you. After that it is rinse and repeat.
- The price is way too high. If this looks like a fun game to you, wait until it's half price or less.

I do want to encourage small groups to try new things, but this isn't what I wanted as a result.

Talon

I enjoyed the story very much, and really hope they do some DLC with some more missions. As it almost felt like the end was just the start of the game. Now things that could have been better, customize your own gravcycle, be able to do something with your HQ it was so empty!!!

Irth

Lacks polish on story, missions, gameplay, and characters. Just doesn't feel like a 'complete' game that was ready for release. Feels like someone built the components and never put them all together into a single machine. There's a lot of rough edges and gaps that leave me unhappy even with the smooth parts (example: the entire 'garage' area is just a wide open area with characters haphazardly strewn about that you have to chase down [with world's slowest walk] between missions to get 'side quests' that if you don't get make each mission a uni-directional slog of 'shoot it till it dies'). Feels like something from the 1990s.

This is definitely one of those 'pick it up on discount - beat it once - never play again or go back for achievements' type games in my opinion.

Nubbly The Moist
Nubbly The Moist

TLDR: A-Move Simulator.

While the premise of this game is unique and interesting, it feels more like a concept build rather than a fully flushed out RTS / Shooter. Your only tactical commands are move and attack move, and you can cast a couple of grenade like abilities every few seconds. While there is technically a "story", its more of just a couple lines of dialog about why you are shooting your way from one side of the map to the other. The AI is extremely simple, basically your AI and their AI see each other, walk / stand in front of the closest combatant, and shoot till one of their HP reaches 0. In a few scenarios the enemy AI may shoot out a healing pulse, or plant a random land mine, but this is the full extent of combat in this game.

Really now, this game should not be priced at $50, that is way over estimating this games current quality. this is prolly a $15-20 game if that. Wait for a deep sale on this one.

In Disintegration, you control a character who pilots a "grav cycle". In other words, you are able to move up and down and float freely. In addition, you are accompanied by a squad of characters. Characters, their load outs, and your load out, are predetermined by the level. Your control over your team is limited to telling them where to go and when to use their special abilities.

I've played the first three levels, and your character only seems to have one weapon, which is kind of a bummer. I think the game would also be improved if you could assign orders to individual team members instead of just the whole group, but the the controls feel good and the game flows well.

Not sure how active the multiplayer is, but if you'd like a scifi action experience, this game is a fine choice.

Hell+
Hell+

I really enjoy the core of this game; riding on the bike feels smooth and has a nice feel to it, ordering your units is definitely simplified but still gives you enough control that, especially in the higher difficulties, makes them a crucial aspect of the combat to learn and master while you're busy shooting as well, and as someone attempting to play on the highest difficulty, while I wish there were more checkpoints and in mission saves so that I could come back to a mission later if I leave, it is absolutely brutal sometimes but victory does end up being very satisfying for it, understanding your squad and the environment is key and it is just fantastic when everything is going well. I will say though that I'm still early in the campaign and especially the opening story elements feel pretty rushed so at least so far it's the gameplay that I think is going to be the selling point.

Now the multiplayer....I love it, but there's already a population problem and while V1 and PD have said in the discord that they are looking into ways to fix this issue I do think that the buy in price along with the niche aspects of it are turning people away which means, as of this review, 4 days in, I'm struggling to find games; I won't downvote it for that though, because I know I love the multiplayer, and telling everyone "don't buy because dead" isn't exactly going to solve the issue, just know that I am enjoying the campaign so far and when I can play multiplayer I do genuinely adore it....It's the when that worries me, I truly wish perhaps more people felt like I currently do in regards to it or at least that there was some form of bot match with private match support because that would be amazing, until then though I have to make this positive review incredibly bittersweet; I genuinely hold this game is really fun, but I will say that if you're buying this just for its multiplayer that might be an awkward proposition right now, and I find that thoroughly heartbreaking.

Inferna
Inferna

Unique game play that goes beyond just shooting everything in sight. Story is well thought out; although, some "transition" cutscenes would be nice to know how characters got from point A to point B.

The AI are not as bad as others say they are. They are set to follow in front of you at a set distance and unless you tell them otherwise they will continue to do that so once combat starts you need to tell them to take cover or target an enemy. after a targeted enemy dies they will go back to following you at that set distance as well as after interacting with an object. Some say the commands telling all the AI to go there is annoying but in reality it would be difficult to tell each one to go to a specific spot WHILE still trying to be a support with your own weapons and healing.

Enemy diversity is perfectly fine. Some are arguing that their isn't enough enemy diversity but I feel it is just right. So far I have encountered 4 grunt like units which include: the common solider, the healer, the melee swarm, and snipers. After that I have ran into 2 tank units: the tank, and the Rhino. then I have met 2 flying units: Drones, and wasps (I think they are called) and I'm going to run into another in my next mission going off of what one of my challenges is. Not every game needs dozens on dozens of different enemies.

My one critic of the game is the lack of special abilities for the AI. As of where I am I have only seen 3 abilities: the concussion grenade, slow bolt, and mortar fire.

All in all its a fun and entertaining game and I recommend trying it for yourself rather than basing you opinion purely on others opinions of the game.

Mr. Bee
Mr. Bee

Yes, I like this game. Was it perfect? No.

The concept is awesome, the game itself needs refinement; the amount of time put into the game development, at least what it seemed like to me, was designing the worlds and also the gameplay within them. The story is very Halo-ey and the cinematic cutscenes reminded me a lot of Halo.

Character development within the plot feels so rushed. You spend way more time listening to what you have to do in the missions rather than seeing character development. They kinda just smudge it into the cutscenes, which makes sense but feel rushed cause you don't really spend time learning about the characters. You rather just learn about the missions you're currently playing in. Also in between missions just feels so bland how uneventful things are, it's a very sour point in between riding a damn Gravcycle destroying machines..to slowly jogging around to see what allies single sentences thoughts are (sometimes they are good conversations but 80% of the are single sentence).

Again, it definitely needs refinement, but besides that I "quite enjoyed playing the game" rather than "loved playing it."

ByteMyPixels
ByteMyPixels

This is a very niche game. You have to think of this more of a squad tactics game than a FPS/RTS hybrid. You are limited to 3 orders per unit (move, attack, ability). It is because of this limited order set that the game feels like an arcade RTS in a way.

The story so far is silly, but enjoyable and each battle feels rewarding.

The price does seem a little high, and it feels like an experiment in design, and one that doesn't pay off 100% but it generally does work. Temper your expectations and you will come away with a truly unique gameplay experience

Aegis
Aegis

This is an excellent game with a good challenge at the harder difficulties but doesn't ever seem unfair. It reminds me a bit like someone took the old game Descent, moved it planet side, and added a squad level real time strategy to it. The cast also managed to be diverse without being preachy, and that's a rarity these days.

Micromanaging your squad at the harder settings can be daunting at first but once you get the hang of the relatively simple interface, you'll be ordering units around and raining shots of your own on the enemy with great efficiency.

I played this Game back in PAC West of 2019. I loved it, it was fun amazing a great take on a genre i was looking forward to and have for a long time. At PAX the game felt more polished the the actual release. The A.I with your units and how to control them was exceptionally better at PAX. I dont know what happened between then and now but it just went down hill. I played the Story like 5 missions in and as fun as it was it was missing alot and the A.I was way lower than expected. The units auto run to your point of Aim even if that means running into the group of enemys and dying or running into mines and again dying. If the game gets changed for the better in the future and is the game i was looking forward to playing for a year i would consider buying it again. But for the price it is and the quality that i received it wasnt worth it. I enjoyed the little that i played but honestly it was better at PAX. Work on the A.I and have them actually have brains and not mindless death drones. Also the multiplayer is dead, no one plays it and it was the thing i looked forward the most. If they had launched the PAX multiplayer and thats the game then it might have done way better. Also the game has a major feel of openworld but is not at all with the many many invis walls. Thank you and i hope to see an improvement in the future. -Refund requested. Sorry.

Disintegration is a promising concept that isn't quite able to make the most of its own potential. The idea you pilot a gravcycle (podracer, basically) while 'commanding' a squad through various missions is in itself very fun. It's almost like you're hovering over a halo/destiny mission giving support to the team as they progress.

The cast of characters are well established and feature promising dynamics, but the game doesn't quite make the most of each character and in many cases tends to underdevelop or undershowcase their personalities/friendships. I enjoyed every instance of banter and interaction they had with eachother, but often found myself wishing they did it more than the only sparse, acutely timed situations they chose to.

The game's pacing is agreeable. The first 3 or so missions don't do the full game justice, so try not to assume you know the full game too early. They introduce a good amount of grunt enemies and 'miniboss' enemies, but unfortunately nothing much in the way of a full boss or proper challenge. They do give you a proper selection of weapons and abilities to change things up, which helps keep you actively learning rather than getting too used to the game.

Most unfortunately the delivery of an online PvP seems to be undercut by the egregiously low playerbase. I can't fathom they actually expected for it to ship to a booming online community with the little advertisement/incentivizing they did for the mode. I felt and still feel an online pvp with these mechanics would be tremendous fun, and i'll be keeping my eye on it for the opportunity to ever experience it. Hopefully they do more to fix this, whether by slashing the price down or by adding pvp content over time to reel people in. As it is, though, don't buy it with the expectation to ever even FIND an online match.

Great Story, akin to Classic Halo, (the first one for you youngin's!) The story traps you while the gameplay is both difficult and rewarding. You gotta work for it if you want to beat it! I'm not even all the way through it but i can tell that no matter what happens i'll be wanting more of this! Game play is new. Its more team based and the better you are as a leader the better you will do. This game calls upon you to take responsibility for your choices and actions in real time. Its not an "Easy" shoot em up kinda game. Takes some actual strategy and thought!

TilValhalla

It claims to be a rts fps but the rts features are rudimentary and there is no strategy to it you cant control each individual unit and lets say put the snipers in the back and the tank upfront all you can do is move them together and the even the fps part of the game doesnt feel good its way to easy and for whats its trying to be poorly done. Also there is no motive to play multiplayer because there is nothing to work towards since you start with everything unlocked and you cant customize your crew at all there is just a few pre made ones you pick from.To make it better they should make the gravcycles faster and allow you to move the crew seperately from each other as well all together so you can be more tactical about it if you want or just move them all together if you dont want to and you should be able to unlock your crew and weapons fro your gravcycle and be able to customize your crew and choose who you want in it instead of only having the pre made ones its just not fun right now and im refunding it if they fix some of these things ill buy it again but in its current state i would say dont buy it

My only complaint is that the game is a little short.........However it is fun and that being said still better short and entertaining than a mindless grind to make it last longer.
The story is simple but engaging and the characters are likable. I have as yet not played the multiplayer as I purchased the game really for the solo campaign.
I finished it within 8 hours which is a bit short but it is a game I think I will probably pick up and run thru on occasion as it is enjoyable. The downside is that other games as Deus Ex Human revolution are so much more in depth and a steal at the moment when looking at the reduced prices.
Personally such games are now very hard to find when many major developers are simply run by Boardrooms filled with people simply investing money to cash in on the gamers that are playing online and spend money on micro-transactions etc.
I would recommend people to maybe wait til this goes on sale but that also limits what the development team can actually accomplish.... a bit of a double edged sword. Buy now if you like solo campaigns and want to support the developer and maybe they go on to greater things or possibly add extra content to this release.....or simply wait and pick up the game when it is cheaper if you feel the price is maybe too high for only 8 hours play.
Myself I am semi-retired so have plenty of free time and feel that the price I paid is fine compared to the limited amount of time and beer I could consume if I went to bar on a Friday night for the same price.
Anyways....My perspective is that the game is simply too well made and plenty of fun so does not deserve to be marked with a thumbs down simply because the campaign is short.

OniZanza

Not your average FPS. Campaign is quite enjoyable with a great story, although a bit shorter than I wanted it to be. Multiplayer is fun and strategic with familiar game modes like point defense, team deathmatch, and capture the flag. I can't wait to see what the dev team's plans are to add additional multiplayer content to the game as well as go deeper into the Disintegration campaign.

going into this game, i really wanted to like it. i mean the robot designs are cool and you command troops into battle while hovering above and providing support.
however, the characters feel empty and develop out of the blue. the story rings hollow and feels like your missing agency in what little plot there is. the big bad didn't feel intimidating or feel like much of a character at all. combat feels slow and doesn't pick up until you level up your damage output. the commanding of troops feels slow and i didn't have fun doing so.
i didn't start having fun in the campaign until i started throwing myself at the enemies to speed up the combat and using the troop commands to assist me when i was in a pinch.
the game feels meh and i'd only recommend this game if it's on sale, of if the story gets a overhaul.

Disintegration gives you pretty much exactly what it said it's going to give you in the description of the game. A first person shooter with real-time strategy mixed in and being extremely important at times.

Instead of focusing on how much ammo you have you have to focus on how long it takes for your abilities to cool down
How long it takes for you weapons to recharge
And how much ammo you have in that specific shot

We're able to play this in three dimensions fighting things above below and in quite literally every direction of you. Well simultaneously controlling three to four troops who themselves have special abilities and health bars

On all hearing that at one point in time would sound.... Oppressive. Intimidating

But once you get into the actual fray It almost becomes natural if you have a good idea of what you need to do

Over the last 7 days I have spent about 8 to 12 hours straight playing this campaign. And in that time I have come up with good and bad about the game.

Let's start with the bad parts.

In the scenes in between missions the graphics are a little wonky. It looks almost as if each frame during movement was hand-painted. This results in an effect that if focused on even unintentionally. Can cause nausea and for me cause temporary motion sickness. during the same scenes if you focus on how the character moves between going left to right to left to right it's almost as if you are two steps ahead of the controller or the joystick or the keypad and going in a circle while being spun around. like you're stepping forward while on a disc that is spinning to the right left. For those who pay close attention to detail this can be rather distracting.

Now let's talk about the good.

In my opinion the storytelling was good. I went into this campaign knowing the bare bones having only seen one or two trailers and played the beta test for the multiplayer.

I had absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into. Those some things I had to piece together myself for the most part seemed like the story would give you the information you needed when you needed it and let you figure the other stuff out. It was telling a story but still giving you the information you needed to understand the story. You weren't giving all the information up front that wouldn't have made it fun. You're given the information when it's relevant And I for one agree with that. It keeps you on your toes It keeps you paying attention to what people are saying. Banter between the characters during the gameplay and cutscenes and pre-mission gameplay gives small insights into what the story truly is and the backstories behind each character.
In my opinion the gameplay was challenging and frustrating but at the same time on point. I couldn't afford to look away from the screen. I had to focus. I had to pay attention and keep an eye on every part of the screen at all points in time just to make sure that I had who I needed when I needed them.
This created a minor panic but at the same time great exhilaration as I was rushing against the clock to heal my allies while at the same time telling them where to shoot and how to shoot.

I would met at a first glance the final part of the campaign was lackluster however upon a second look I realized that it told the story just as it had to be told. There are of course things that I would change if I was in charge but those are things that I will leave feedback on in a later post.

On all in my opinion this game is definitely worth playing. The campaign pulled me in and kept me guessing about some things while telling me upfront about others. there were parts of the story that I had to go searching for in order to understand what was going on

I was able to get an idea of how the story should have gone without any guides I only played the game I never went to any other media about it

And to be honest I'm glad I didn't look at any other media. It would have ruined the campaign for me. Even now the plot twists that take place still surprise me just looking back on them
However due to the cons that I have already mentioned as well as a feeling of lacklusterness to the end of the campaign. I only feel comfortable getting the game currently a seven and a half out of 10 with room for improvement and a hope for improvement. This is a beautiful game and very clearly a work that came from the heart not necessarily the mind. I hope it stays that way

I am seeing a lot of people beating this game up, but I personally think the developers did a good job with the game. I got it for $50, and I don't regret buying it. They tried a new concept, and I think they really did good with that. It flows really well in the campaign. I haven't tried multiplayer yet, and a lot of people are saying that no one is online. Join the Disintegration discord! The community there is always talking about when to get online, so they can all play. It gets a thumbs up for me. Good job V1 Interactive.

Update: The Developers have removed Multiplayer. Still recommend buying due to the unique mechanics!

Where to even begin.

This train wreck of a game is fundamentally Halo released for the first time but 20 years too late.

The combat is not only clunky but an order to engage one specific target allows your entire squad to run out into the open and get slaughtered. They just ignore cover. That does not even take basic testing or programming to figure out that this is bad game design. Dawn of War II does squad 100x times better than this and that has been out for many years.

As for the character personalities... yikes. They are random and poorly executed. Most of the time they are in your face and you do not even know who these people are. It is real cringe at times.

I bought cringe and frustrating combat with beautiful scenery. Might as well look at beautiful scenery and breath nothing but dog shit cause that's what you get.

It's not very good. Great graphics and forced diverse personalities does not make up for very poor execution on the story and simplistic combat strategy.

I don't recommend a discount to get this game. I would recommend just not getting it at all.

There's just nothing there. Why is it $49.99? How did they go from mixed reviews to "mostly positive"?? People getting it for free don't even recommend the game, so that alone is sketch.

The multiplayer doesn't feel rewarding or engaging at all. They advertise "RTS" level of technical execution, but once you get into a game you realize the only real impact is staring down another cycle and wondering who's going to fail at mouse tracking as you slowly navigate 3-dimensional space (ironically making the maps less complex). Oh, and that's after the long queue-time, and you recognize everyone in the second match from the first.

Things you might expect from a game of this price, but aren't here:

Progression
Performance feedback
Tactical decisions
Meaningful positioning
Playerbase

You'll get better engagement from the old 3d-pong flash game.

I really wanted to like this game. I even pre-ordered it. For a long time I have been seeking a RTS / FPS hybrid, something with impactful combat. The previews made it look like this was just that game. It really wasn't. Most of this game involves slowly dragging your brainless troops from area to area and shooting enemies with your blasters form draw distance so that they don't kill you - ending the mission. Any time one of your idiot minions takes too much damage you're forced to go into the fray to resurrect them, putting you at extreme risk since you are just a slow, floating bullet magnet. Because of this game loop players are encouraged to play very cautiously and defensively, especially since the game has regularly sequenced ambushes where your weak bodied minions will get ripped to shreds if you don't pull back immediately. The strategy in this game is sorely lacking - there is only ONE command button for your troops: "attack this target", and it doubles as "stand here". Otherwise you can only issue them a follow order and to use their underwhelming special attacks. The troop AI is braindead, you are always outnumbered, and usually flanked with minimal cover. The upgrade system is super shallow with no meaningful choice or player agency. The levels are 100% linear and pretty boring to look at, looking good for 2001, maybe. I was really hoping this was the FPS/RTS hybrid game I had been waiting for. Nope. Not even close.

I really like how this game played out. Other reviews have stated that it takes a couple of hours of play to start really liking this game and I agree. You get to the point that you like using your team members to complete the mission and the couple of times that they are taken away, they are missed. Overall the single player part of the game is very good. I have no interest in the multi-player part of the game, so please look for other reviews on it.

terrible experience. very slow, boring and limited gameplay, the hardest difficulty is impossible to maintain sanity through...not because its hard, no the AI repeatedly kill themselves by running out into open fire mindlessly after killing an enemy and getting themselves killed instantly and you're stuck with a single option of diving in to save them before you fail the mission and cringing at the awful audio file that plays only to have the same thing happen 3 seconds later.
The grav cycle is slow and limited to 30 feet in the air restricting movement and gameplay so severely you might as well sell it for scrap and walk only there is no option to exit the vehicle.
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!

tl;dr Wait for a sale

This is one of those games I really do feel mixed on and would give it that rating if it still existed.

It's not a BAD game. It has a unique world with an interesting take on the FPS/Strategy genres. However it fails to really execute both in a good way. It's essentially point people one direction while you shoot another guy for about a minute before he goes down. It's the same problem that I have with Brutal Legend where it has a bit of an identity crisis about what it wants to be and it really hampers the experience for the campaign, making the gameplay feel dragged out more than it needs to be.

I have not tried multiplayer so I have no opinion on that front, but campaign wise if you're looking for a decent sci-fi story with some floaty shooting in between cutscenes I'd wait for a sale.

What developer in their right mind creates a game where you can't save your progress during a mission ? You have to start over if you don't complete a mission during a session ? I like this game but the no save option really bites.

Looks great, but not something I want to play through. Controls are a bit clunky, and while campaign works, was never able to get in an online multi-player match. I get that it's new so that is part of the issue, but for the price tag and only wanting to play multi-player mainly, it's a bust for me. Campaign might also be more fun if it was co-op, and you had the option to play in first person that can run, jump and shoot, vs riding the vehicle the whole time. That makes it a bit less fun, more RTS like than FPS, since you just fly around and command other characters to do the work for you, it gets old fast.

good looking game but after only an hour it got boring and repetitive and so it goes on.
the story is boring and poorly implemented.
the gameplay is fun from the ground up but it lacks optimization, you can choose neither your weapon nor your crew or skills.
i understand that it is part of the missions but with the choice of weapons, characters and ability it is nasty not to be able to put together a gravcycle and the crew yourself.
Freedom and depth is what the game lacks.
i can't judge the multyplayer because even after 1 hour of search i didn't find a match.

Disintegration

Mh, where do I start to write my Review to Disintegration.

Maybe first, it looks beautiful and runs smoothly at 60 fps.
The sound is very good and also the voiceover is good.
Yeah maybe sometimes not quite syncron but it's not a pain in the ass,
because the voice actors do a very good job.

The cutscenes are beautiful and coherent and bring the character
and the story across very well.

As for the characters, I like them and they are well developed and designed.
I have played 4 missions so far and when one of them falls in battle it hurts.
But here the game mechanics are designed to let him spawn again. So all is well.
I for my part have taken them to my heart, maybe because the emotion chips make them very human.

You control a Gravcycle with weapons equipped.
Well here I noticed that you are given fixed weapons in the missions.
Do I like it?! No.
Since everyone plays differently, you might prefer different weapons in this or that mission.
But you have to live with it. This and a small sentence below, if you had left out the multiplayer
and put the generated potential into the main game. Would have been better.
Talk about the hangar, rebuild it and integrate it much better in the game.
Like the possibility to upgrade your Gravcycle with found resources, to upgrade weapons, speed etc. etc.

Also the level system of the whole crew, which is implemented with expansion chips, is not bad.
You can find these chips in the missions.
About the challenges in the chapters, there is so much to say, that some of them are very unpleasant and some of them are simpley corrosive. A fun and exiting or chalenging task can look different.

About the enemies, as I said, I'm only at the beginning here, they are interesting and can be challenging.
I think it could also become very crisp in the further course of the game.
Also the maps are beautifully designed and are well made for the missions,
with partly destructible environments, tactical corners etc..

The sound and soundtrack itself is very good and i love it.

The only bad experience so far, in the second mission "One´s Suffering", last enemy group and the game crashed.
Ergo play the whole mission again, because no access to the cache points possible.
45 minutes my ass. Very annoying, but okay happens. Since then, no crash has been recorded so far.

Disintegration has a multiplayer, was it necessary?
Honestly, NO.

If you would have left out the multiplayer here, and maybe put on a COOP in the game and developed the main game better, you would have had more of it. What is also not possible at all is the coin shop in the multiplayer.
Now some will say, well you don't have to. Yes, true but in my eyes it's completely nonsensical and unnecessary. You could have also integrated the hangar, the control center in the game, where you start the missions, much deeper into the game. Unfortunately, this was not done.

A friend also wrote a review and he played it until mission 8,
I think his review is a clear NO at the moment.

Um, I like games like Disintegration, BUT

- currently too expensive, in sale at 66-90% - then you can buy it.
- Multiplayer completely unnecessary
- Multiplayer Coins Shop nonsensical and a cheek

Now I come to a point which is a great touch to the game, but which I miss painfully:

Captivating single-player campaign: Marcus Lehto, Halo co-creator and Creative Director of Halo: Reach,
wrote this brand new sci-fi saga.

I´m sorry, guys, but i can´t feel this.

So I am done with my review here.

What is my final score for disintegration.

I like it and it's fun.
BUT ~~ can I give a clear recommendation to buy?
No, I cannot.
The game lacks depth.
The Multiplayer and the Coin Shop are a cheek.
Simply away it is just too expensive for that.

In SALE at 66-90% Discount - you can buy it without hesitation.
You just have to decide how much you want to spend at that moment.
Is it at 60% Discount worth to buy or not.
I bought it in the current sale at 40% - do I regret it?
No, it's okay, but for everyone else, i think 15€ is the pain threshold.

Supplement:

What i find a bit pity at the moment, is, that Disintegration just
has now a total negative hype of reviews.
Not only now, in this case, but in general the last months.

But why am I criticizing this?

What good are 150 negative reviews if you don't see and understand why or what caused it,
to rate this game in this review negative?
If they consist of 3 words.

Here are some examples:

- Not even worth playing for free (Why?)

- Sadly it's overpriced (Price to high, true, but what is with the Game itself? Good or Not?)

- What waste of potential (Why?)

- Not Recommended! (Why?)

Devs removing multiplayer on November 17 but haven't discounted the game. It's like 3-4 months after launch and although the initial value proposition for the game now lacks an entire pillar (online multiplayer) the price remains the same. Not very hard to see that the game is now abandoned by the devs a mere 3 months after launch. The game was a disaster with a peak of 539 players during the launch peak and currently, at this exact moment, TWO players being the highest peak in the last hour and THREE during the last 24 hours.Would absolutely not recommend buying at full price. Would not recommend buying at half price. Maybe at $5 for the one hour or so of fun you MIGHT have. The devs are astoundingly out of touch.

I genuinely can't tell if V1/PD is just this willfully ignorant or if this was just a game that was made to get a quick buck. They had such a fantastic idea of a game, such a fun concept for a multiplayer, it just needed a little refinement. I played the game back in the beta but I had a lot of fun. Its bugs and flaws I assumed to be beta jank or just things that need refinement that they'd address upon release but then release happened in June, and very little changed. Sure, maybe they'd patch its flaws later on. I was wrong

Three patch later to this day, they've touched upon the multiplayer very little, aside of bug fixes and very minor tuning. Now they've decided they're going to "sunset" the multiplayer because it gained very little traction. Gee, I wonder why? You had forums of people THROWING IDEAS YOUR WAY ON HOW TO IMPROVE IT. I get there's lots of feedback to sort through, don't get me wrong, but you literally went nowhere with the multiplayer and went "oh gosh people don't like it oh well guess we better s-can it!"

V1/PD, you took it nowhere. To say you defecated on the multiplayer would be exaggerating how much work you put into it. You more left it in the corner of the room, only dusting it like 3 times before you said, "Well this didn't work. Time to get rid of it." I'm furious, to say the least. You had player input and did nothing with it. You decided to choose the single player to be your baby, picked up by a handful of YouTube content creators to be played for content before moving on, showing it to their fans and you know what happens from that? Sure, you'll get maybe a handful of copies purchased, but most of them will see the game and move on, they've seen enough.

Your single player campaign is nothing special. It's a somewhat run of the mill campaign with grav cycles and a walking simulator in between, walking around TO COLLECT CHALLENGES, at a walking simulator speed, all varying in locations, never really sure if you collected them all until you figure out that, yeah, three challenges per mission. Find all the bots before you start. That pads out your game time maybe 3 - 10 minutes.. of walking.. to collect challenges.. before walking back to select your mission.

V1/PD, you've spat on something that could've been a neat game. Could've been an experience I'd be glad to come back to again and again but you've got a run of the mill single player experience and a multiplayer you're not going to touch and, now, going to remove. Screw you, V1/PD. I wish I could get a refund but I'm past being eligible for that. You're scum, frauds, and for the foreseeable future, I will never pick up another game from you again. Shame on you.

I've played for 12 hours and am still in the campaign - great fun so far. Stunning sounds, marvelous graphics and particle effects, great action. Flying/hovering with the air vehicle is really fun and very smooth - I also like the guns and their sounds as well as the scan ability. Scanning objects and taking loot is much fun. The control of the team is very intuitive and easy - it reminds me of the unit controlling capability like in 'Battlezone'. I don't get it why so many people are complaining - this is a very different shooter compared to others, with a fresh setting and some good ideas as well as good mission design. It was never boring but instead pushing me forward from mission to mission. If you find a certain mission/combat too hard (the blackout tower mission...) or too easy at certain points - just try other difficulty settings and suddenly the same combat is fun ;-)

I really wanted to like this game but it is just feels poorly implemented. The single player missions are generic, and offer limited scope to use your abilities. You can't choose who comes on the missions or your weapon load out. The section between missions spaces characters out so you have to walk (not run) over to get what?? almost no back story and zero dialogue options thats what so what was the point in that developers? The story drops you in with little context and expects you to like the characters. The trooper AI is just straight stupid and you can only tell the whole team to go to one objective at a time. There is no option for them be defensive or aggressive no ability for them to protect you or go for specific targets. For me the game would have been better off adding a pause function to deploy individual units and abilities as needed. Your gravity cycle just always feels cumbersome. I am sure I will come back and finish the game at some point but it won't be to have fun it will just be because I bought the game I feel I should finish it.

After the third mission. i just can't see this game being not bad. not, not bad, but not, bad. The idea is super neat, but it's executed very poorly. your in a floaty shooty ship. and you command ground forces which have very boring abilities, and horrible ai that focusses on standing where you are looking. which means ifyou want to disarm a minefield, you have 1 second to look at it and shoot all the mines before your ground units run right into them. Characters only really use cover if you stare at the cover, which means you aren't shooting. if you are shooting, your units run from location to location (albeit fighting while moving) never utilizing any sort of strategic cover. There isn't much in the way of flavor as far as combat goes.

IF
Ai were improved
weapons were interesting
combat was strategic
character abilities weren't flavorless
THEN the game would be decent
i really wanted this game to be cool )':

Very interesting concept and smooth gameplay, but it is missing depth. The main hub of the game is devoid of any real content, and nothing about the story really pulls you in and makes you connect with the characters.

It was a decent game, worth the $20 I spent but I'm glad I didn't spend more. It was pretty short. Good to waste a little time and get a small story out of it. I put about 12 hours into the game, and much of that was trying to get through some of the more difficult missions. The gameplay was a little unbalanced in one or two missions, but nothing too terrible.

The gameplay wasn't great. Nothing really new is introduced you haven't seen in any other game, and other things you have are missing. You're a gravcycle pilot, but instead of racing around in the gravcycle tearing it up in a sort of motorcycle meets hover-gunship death machine, you're stuck mainly floating around the battlefield, dodging some gunfire and trying to return fire and not die because you're too slow to really fly around, and not as powerful as you'd like to be. No real cover system to speak of, since you typically are floating above most of your enemies. You don't even have the ability to use your boost to damage enemies or break any of the destructible stuff on the battlefield really.

The attempt to integrate more strategy into an FPS could've been awesome. An RTS where you can still blast the heck out of enemies directly. But it instead lacked in both areas. You cannot direct your units individually just tell all of them to choose one enemy, or move to a different location. You can only directly select specific units when telling them to use their abilities.

So some of the more tactical applications where you could've separated out your force, dealt with different threats at once, and generally done what you do in a strategy game, while still pitching in and blowing the hell out of some of the smarter or stronger enemies weren't available to you.

It made it very bland and not something that would've added a whole new spin on 'shoot em ups'.

No upgrades to speak of either, or ability to kit your own gravcycle out the way you want to for each mission. Not that there were huge differences between the frames of each gravycle, from what I could tell.

The story was kind of fun, but too short. I don't know if it was just because the game was so short, but the story was missing a lot of what would've made it good. Backstory, more interactions, etc anything that really went beyond a very basic storyline wasn't there.

I do think there should be a Disintegration 2, but it needs to have something new, something exciting that makes gameplay a thrill (c'mon you're in a hovering motorcycle with guns. add speed and courses rather than small mission areas, zipping around in the air... the whole concept should be self-explanatory and intuitive!) , and definitely more storyline. I really want to know more about the world of Disintegration.

Not even going to mention how the game is. I just have to point out that these developers released a game in 2020 that does not save your progress at each checkpoint. I believe that there's nothing inherently wrong with the game. It looks good, sounds decent (apart from missing OST), controls are responsive, weapons and abilities are distinctive, units mostly go where i want them to, level design is decent, and story doesn't drag on and I like how it starts in media res without explaining too much.

Most importantly, it's a fresh take on shooters being a hybrid between FPS and RTS, and that is interesting by itself.

That being said, game feels plain, like it suffered too much adjustments from publisher or conservative business persons.

To fix this, campaign could use some overhaul. First, I would give the player freedom to pick soldiers and weapons for missions (perhaps with some restrictions so not to break balance in existing missions). I also feel that allowing user to upgrade flight capabilities (speed, maneuverability) of their vehicle would help, especially in later missions, where's a lot of air combat which sometimes feel slow and plain.

I really hope this game gets some kind of sequel or somebody else makes similar game to explore the ideas further.

Setting, and graphics are decent, the game would have been better using any other game mechanic, except the one that it used. would have made a great setting for a fps/tps shooter or/rpg, or maybe even an rts, but the game play falls flat.
I feel bad for the Devs looking at the game, and the props for even the first two hours you can tell that they really put some effort into the artwork, setting and characters. all for it to fail to reach its potential because of its base game play mechanics.

There's a great game in here somewhere... but I can't seem to find it.

I admit, I had pretty high hopes for this game. It appeared to be a pretty interesting and creative game that featured a unique blend of FPS and RTS gameplay, two genres I really enjoy. And it wasn't a bad game per say, it was just very... limited. Since I have mixed feelings about the game, I'll give a breakdown of what I thought was/wasn't done well, and ultimately why I decided to leave a thumbs down:

Pros:

    • It has an engaging story/narrative, this was probably my strongest incentive to play through the campaign.
    • Good graphics, even on medium settings.
    • The game is very well polished. I never encountered any glitches, frame drops, or crashes.
    • There are plenty of likeable characters with good voice actors.
    • The core gameplay is pretty solid. It's especially fun when you get to use some of the interesting mid/late game weapons.

Cons:

    • The game is unnecessarily restrictive, in my opinion. Before you start each mission, there's a briefing/loadout screen, only you don't get to choose your weapons. Or your Gravcycle. Or which of your squad-mates go with you (although, this last one could be justified for plot/narrative reasons). It's all pre-selected for you depending on the mission, leaving you with almost no agency in this regard.
    • The world looks vast, open, and begging to be explored despite there being invisible walls EVERYWHERE. If you veer even somewhat off the path the game intended, looking for easter eggs or secret loot stashes perhaps, you will be met by nothing but the world boundary and disappointment.
    • Despite being part RTS, it offers very little in terms of strategy. When you issue a command to your squad, you can only issue it to all of them at once, meaning your squad can't do more than one thing at a time despite being, well, a squad. On top of that, there are only 4 commands you can issue: Move, Attack, Interact (with objects in the world), and Use Ability (albeit, this command can be issued to individual squad members). And they can't execute two commands simultaneously, meaning if you tell your squad to move to a certain position and then attack, they will move to the position and then immediately abandon it to charge in and attack directly.

The saddest part of it all, and ultimately why I decided it deserved a negative review, is that it seems the devs are completely giving up on the game to the point where they're not only discontinuing updates and patches, but outright removing the multiplayer mode all together. It's a shame to see so much potential go to waste.

I have requested a refund.

So nope! I can't recommend this game.

This game disintegrated my money.

cool concept, but it gave me a headache. the AI didn't seem to do anything smart and I was constantly reviving them. shooting with the gravcycle felt bad. the world was beautiful and the story seemed interesting, but I'll never know if it gets better. Jon Everist's soundtrack is amazing as always though.

This was a great game. The game mechanic was a unique take on squad management. The story was was exciting. The squad mates were well designed, with each having a lot of personality and style to them. I cannot figure out for the life of me why it doesn't have higher reviews. This is not the deepest lore, or longest campaign game you'll ever play, but it doesn't try to be anything more than what it is, but it also isn't any less. The gameplay is fun, the story is fun, it doesn't have any bugs. 10/10 at being a game.

Fun on the lowest difficulty. No way am I going back in a second time tho to max out my stats, achievement hunt, or finish the objectives I missed. There should be customization, obviously there were better pre-made loadouts, but if the different pieces could be upgraded individually that would be a fun grind.

Also gave me Star Citizen vibes, like this is how SC ground combat should look, the ships looked similar too. Also Transformers, obviously.

Very fun little shooter. Too bad multiplayer didn't take off. Campaign is worth a play through and gameplay is fun all around. Definitely has me wanting more.
Had some issues with UE4 crashing on me which caused me to have to restart some missions. Could really use a way to save progress within the mission to deal with crashes - then they'd be no issue at all.

Poor level design leads to cheap deaths.

The graphics are okay and the shooting is fine. There's upgrades available for you and your team.

But here's the thing. Enemies often just beam in on top of you and sometimes there's nowhere to go. Also, your units are pretty fragile and kinda stupid. I didn't feel that I was really making much in the way of tactical decisions with my units, just hitting the specials of my units when they become available but a lot of the time, you are just exposing your fragile units to be shot down.

I tried to like it but felt that the game was working against me.

Game is good so far. Learning the mechanics isnt hard at all they explain it well. So far the story is cool. If its on sale pick it up.

It is a grind galore. Strapped to the dam bike all the game, no break from it once. the bike is slow like hell. Team throws itself to their deaths. No way of choosing bike setup (weapons, perks, etc.). Only 2 slots for weapons (in other games you can use at least 3). Repetitive as hell. NO replay value. I simply don't know how I manage to finish this thing.

Original showed to be a tactical shooter similar to BZ98, the final product was nothing of the sort. Only very basic commands can be issued to your squad and the only ones that really matter are when and where abilities are used. The game also doesn't let you select what units you bring or what vehicle you use. Treat it more as a 6dof shooter and it will be more enjoyable. Its too bad that the final result ended in a game that was just alright, as it does have an interesting premise. Worth picking up on a sale but know that only the single player is still playable.

First off - This is a great game, and I have enjoyed the visuals and the story up to this point. My only issue with the game is in between the missions.. Your character goes and walks up to these static characters that you interact with, and get side missions or something, but there is not a lot going on or that you can interact with. If I were to RP these scenarios - it would make sense - robots do nothing to save energy - especially if they are not tasked - so I guess there's that. This is not a game I would play MP in, but perhaps CO-OP would be fun.
