Fixed shooter space game with a retro 80s minimalistic visual theme.

There are some powers here, and different enemies and bosses there. Nothing you have not seen before. Generic and unremarkable in everything, but is playable and somewhat enjoyable if you like games of this style.

Music is a single modern track that loops over and over and sound effects are far in between. Sound department could use some work.

Fairly easy to complete, 100% achievements can be done in an hour, and they can be used to spruce up your profile.

Obviously the main downside is that is short with little replayability. Get it on a sale or in a bundle. 5/10

Its alright .. I mean its semi challenging. The Controls are nice. But its nothing New, nothing special. And the graphics are plain. If this came out in 1982 id have loved it. That being said id buy it if it was on sale for under 99 Cents .

Cool little arcade shooter. The game is quite barebones, it doesn't have much too offer (it's lacking things such as upgrades or even auto-shoot). You get to experience 26 progressively difficult levels and 3 boss fights so the game doesn't take long to beat (less than an hour), good if you trying to hit 100% completion.

Distant Space 2 is a shovelware achievement spam 2D retro pixel shoot 'em up slapped together badly with GameMaker Studio. It's an extremely routine, arguably boring shoot 'em up with less challenging and less interesting gameplay than ancient arcade games like Galaga. It's unclear how it is possible in this decade to rip off games from last century and come up with a product that's considerably worse, but PixelMouse have done it.

It looks like most people who played this only did so because they're achievement hunters... there's no redeeming or interesting features in the game that would appeal to people looking for an actual game.

From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.

A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result.

There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics.

The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers.

Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the choice of using the GameMaker Studio construction kit/toolset. This is a very poor quality toolset favoured by amateur developers as it's cheap and requires little in the way of development skill, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities. Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. GameMaker Studio is often used to make retro pixel shovelware and cash grabs.

These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.

Distant Space 2 is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.

I could've just used an achievement unlocker to get everything but I did not. I slogged through the game. The start was simple enough but it got progressively harder and it needs some decent reaction time to dodge everything thrown at you (please take note that my reaction time is not exactly decent). The first 20 minutes of the game was okay, but my next 36 was hell. Thanks, I enjoyed it.

Wtf I got this game for the achievement letters but turns out you actually have to put some effort in for the later levels. Starting to wish my user didn't have a "w" in it.

I agree the first one was pretty easy and you can basically regen all your health and continue at the same spot

So alright, the 3 levels penalty was fine, whatever

The health doesnt regenerate, and you have only 10 hitpoints in one run. Which is kinda annoys me considering if you die at the boss, you'll have to go through 3 levels again, possibly get hit a few times, and finally facing the boss again with like what, 30-60% or 3-6 hits left

Even *if* you get to that stage with 10 hit points, there's this like 2 or 3 moments where the boss bein a sayan btch and spamming fire, and I guarantee you, you'll loose at least 4, 5 hitpoints when he comes closer and spam your a.ss.

And if you've beaten a boss, and dies afterwards, you still gotta beat em again. so that's a thing.

Making it difficult doesn't necessarily making it unfair.

And for the love of God, please put in control directions or something, cause I have no damn clue what the power up button is. I literally mashed every key on my keyboard and mashing mouse1, mouse2, middle mouse, scroll up, scroll down, idfk

Please do something about it, I'm that edgy btch trying to get all 100% achievements, and things like these are a bit troublesome

Good game, bad mechanics and too difficult.

The original Distant Space is far better and more enjoyable. This trash penalises you too hard on death, sending you back 3 stages. If you get unlucky or are having a bad run you can actually lose massive amounts of progress. There's also no way to recover life so once you get hit, it's gone for good.

EDIT: I have given this game another go. The developer updated the game to make it less of a grind. It's pretty fun now. When you die, you restart the same level you were on. You now have a regenerating shield and special weapons to help you defeat enemies. The later levels are very challenging but now they are fun and doable.

Thank you for listening developer.

Unlike the previous title, this does not have any kind of "checkpoint" from where you can just continue playing whenever you want.

3/10 not for casual playing, would only recommend the first one on sale

Cheers to the developer for fixing the issue about getting set back 3 levels after every death. It's actually playable now.

Please use the update feed to inform your players. Had to find out by myself when I saw that there's an update.

I didn't think I would have so much fun the music is really good and the gameplay is retro to the old games I used to play growing up! Completed in 1 hour and got all the achievements! Best money spent! :)

People this is from 2017! Pretty pretty shitty for a Space Invaders copy. They pretended to be so much more and the design and graphics are really rough. Couldn't endure this for more than 20 minutes. Where are all those possibly good oldshool remakes!?

I bought the game for the achievements and I thought it's just 1 click = 200 achievement but I must say I'm surprised!
I enjoyed the game itself too, simple mechanics, 8 bit graphics, and tons of nostalgia!

Classic game with amazing achievements

TLDR

Distant Space 2 is a modern version of classic old games. New style, new look. It doesn't get boring and has amazing achievements. It is not that hard and you will probably even enjoy playing this one. Music fits the game quite well.

Rating

[ 10/10 ]

There isn't really anything negative to mention about this game. It is just the achievements and the fun I had while playing that makes the game as it is supposed to be. I like playing this game but other than the achievements, it is not something you will spend a lot of time on. This is an achievement hunting game. Nothing more, Nothing less. It is fun and doesn't get boring.

I'd recommend this game to

Everyone looking for a specific style/type of achievements and people who are made for achievements. It is worth the price in my opinion but a sale won't hurt. If you're really desperate like me, then don't wait for the sale (do know it might take a while for it to go on sale). I had fun playing this.

Distant Space 2 is one of those 'achievement' games. I must say I've really enjoyed this one. It is enjoyable. It doesn't feel old but still gives you the classic vibe. It is a modern version of old games. I like it. I really do. The game is cheap and has amazing achievements. As I already said, I've really enjoyed this one. I liked the style and the music was somewhat funny. The achievements of this game look great and will make your profile look awesome. As of now, the game is easy enough to achieve those achievements. If you still find it somewhat hard, you could try cheat engine.

This game is primarily for achievement hunting but also has a fun twist. It is a modern version of old games, as I said. The game doesn't get boring and you have the feeling of going on, just to get those achievements. This is a good thing. Some achievement hunting games are just boring and you'll have to force yourself to continue playing, just to get some achievements. This game is different. I really recommend this one if you're looking for achievements that look great (imo).

An addictive shooter game in a minimalistic design. The game has 26 levels and 3 bosses. Pleases a good soundtrack and simple controls. There are ordinary weapons and two additional ones: a laser and stronger projectiles, which can be obtained by picking up from enemies. To use additional weapons, you need to accumulate energy. There is also armor.
The game is definitely cool and will suit everyone who loves space battles.

Foreplay
Foreplay

It controls better than the first game and has more power-ups but it is still as boring as ever. It's funny going to the forums seeing the people literally asking the developer to make the game easier so they can get their precious achievement numbers up. "2 a : a result gained by effort".
