Because some of the reviews actually made me facepalm, here'smy salt.

This game is still a PRE-ALPHA. It released ~8 MONTHS ago. It is not finished, but will be some day ffs.
So here's my view: I got the game shortly after it's Steam release, and trust me when I tell you the Devs are doing amazing work with the rescources they got.
Draconia is an indi game with a very small team, not a AAA title backed by a known publisher. Considering that, they're working at an incredible speed with fantastic results; during the time of first release and now we not only got another playable dragon implemented (eastern noodle), but an entirely new map, as well as first quests.
When problems occure the team is fast at handling them, transparent in communication with the community via Discord, and listens to complaints/improvement.
If you don't like the price atm that's ok, some people have high expectations even from fairly new pre-alphas, but please stop comparing an in-progress game to a finished one. It's childish.

for early development its an okay game. can be confusing if you're first starting out, although the game offers a wide selection of looks for your characters like colors, gives great ideas for screen shots if that's the type of player you are. pretty decent community from what I've experienced so far, just don't think its worth $35 at it's current state.

I don't really recommend the game and here's why.

1.) I keep getting random disconnects for no reason, like I'll have the best internet. Can barely play for like 5 minutes, I'd be lucky if I get 10 minutes.
2.) Game doesn't feel optimized at all, I feel completely lost, there's really no guide or tutorial to learn the basics of how to grow and quest etc.
3.) Hitting things barely register half of time even if my dragon head shoved right into it.
4.) Vocal calls barely has any variation...wish they add like different kind of vocal calls like aggressive, broadcast, friendly, fearful, curious, and so forth. Usually seem to have 2 variations of sounds.
5.) Apparently from what I know from several friends that developer and moderators treat community members poorly, letting being getting harrassed, bullied, and so forth, doesn't do anything about and just told to hush up.
6.) I wish I can get refund so I don't have to look at this in my library.

Play this in your own discretion, though don't get upset if some of these pointers are true. Maybe in a few years it might be something...or just be another abandoned project.

well. I tried to play this game but it literally gives you absolutely no guidance, doesnt tell you or give you the slightest clue on where to get quests, and when you find the "quest stone", you get your quest and get, wow, again -- no guidance on what the fuck to do.

game seems very bare bones for its hefty price tag. refunded tbh

At this time, would I recommend this game? No.

With that being said, I suppose there is potential. Especially because this game seems to still be in its infancy.

The best way to sum this up is by saying this: "I logged out of this to go play DoD"

There is more charm and intrigue in the mindless eat, drink, sleep, grow cycle within DoD than the tedious "gather everything" approach that Draconia has. 90% of my time on this game has been spent on gathering materials. It wouldn't be quite as off-putting having to stuff my inventory with rocks and sticks if the flying mechanics were any good. Flying should feel majestic, be challenging, and at the same time feel natural. Again, I am fully aware this is labeled pre-alpha, so hold the lashings. I'm simply saying that the risk of spending $30+ on this pre-alpha, in its current state is far too great to consider. At this point it is unknown how well this game will do, and if it will ever reach completion or simply fizzle out like so many games before it.

If it was cheaper, the flight mechanics were a bit better, and if the growth progression was time-based and not reliant on XP, then perhaps I'd recommend it more readily, but as it stands today, I cannot in good conscience, do so.

While I waited for this game for a while, it was wroth the wait just for character creation alone. while there is no "gameplay" just yet (I fully understand it's still in its pre-alpha stages so it will be a while before more and more is introduced), just the character creator alone makes the game worth it. I've also had fun and met some really wonderful people and have, in general, had a ball with this game even in pre-alpha. I am excited to be here and playing the game during its next stages and can't wait to see what is coming next!

I bought this game while understanding that it's a work in progress. I did not expect a complete game. Even though the game is in pre-alpha, I have a lot of fun playing it on single player and using the photo mode to take screenshots of my dragons.

I like the character customization. Many unique designs can be created and any colors can be used when creating your dragons. I also like the choices for eyes. You can even have goat-like eyes for your dragons.

Oatmilk

A visually appealing MORPG surrounding dragons, griffins, golems and drakes, despite being in early development it feels like the beginning to a full story game which would be pretty swag, I do recommend the game but this is just personal preference and my opinion, but really, it's a good game, you should get it ;jazz hands;

Game is still far from done, and with what thay have so far, it looks like it gona become a good game when it gets finished. id like to se more things comein in, like crafts, skins, quests to get difrent craftable things, and skins, mini games, and stuff like that.

I have been searching for games that let me play as a dragon then I found this.
I can say that i am satisfied with my purchase.
So far, the game runs smoothly on my laptop. no major lags found. Been playing for 30 hrs now. I got addicted to leveling up my dragon by collecting goodies. Customizing your characters and having complete control of what colors you choose is such a breath of fresh air, there's not much games that give players that kind of freedom.

what i don't like about the game is that there is no map.
they should put in a map especially to new players like me cuz i get so lost lol. plus i don't have a good sense of direction. there should also be a pointer for where you should go to collect stuff needed for the daily quest. I Love the game so far and excited to hear more updates coming and new content in the future.

Very basic right now. Needs more UI tooltips. However it functions and you play a dragon! Excited to see how it goes!

As it stands its shameful. In my opinion it would barely stand as a tech demo. let alone something you pay money for. the mechanics are poorly implemented and feel clunky, the flight feels artificial and the leveling system is terribly boring and stale. i do not recommend buying this game until it has undergone a lot of further developement. The promise of further improvements down the line and the pitch of it being early access does not feel like a worthy reason for its shodiness to me. it is simpily not fit for public access yet in my eyes.

I love how much criticism there is for an EARLY ACCESS GAME. Of course it will help to provide advice, but there is no reason for so much crying. Seems to be a common theme.

While the game IS in pre-alpha, the community is incredible and very willing to help others out. Yes, there are bugs that happen that can sometimes make survival as a dragon very difficult (like no food on the map), but unlike most companies, the developers of Draconia have been working very hard to get rid of every bug they know about in something, before they release it. They put a massive amount of attention into every bit of detail, and they strive to make their game as fun as it can be!!!

Not worth the price. I bought this game to check it out cause... dragons, you know? I spawned in at a village with no real indication of what to do. After a while of randomly pressing buttons, I found that I could gather bones and gain XP from collecting said bones. Then I just walked around the village for 10-20 minutes looking for more bones. At best this game is worth $10-$15 in it's current state. I say this because while the graphics are pretty, mainly the dragons, there's not really anything to do. There was only a handful of servers with the most populated one having about 20 people. It kind of just felt like a, "Hey look at the skin I made in the menu. Look how big I am," sort of deal with no real direction.

Overall I would say this game has potential, but I would not buy it as it stands. Scamonia? We'll have to see.

Jax of all trades
Jax of all trades

This is the first review I've left for a game in all my years on here, and unfortunately, it has to be a negative one. I have wanted to stay in my own lane, but this has gotten out of hand very quickly.

The game itself? It's early access, so there isn't much to do aside from customize dragons and fly around for now. I enjoyed these aspects very much, but that's it. Because of this lack of gameplay, though, it relies heavily on having fun with the people you play with - and unfortunately, the user base quickly grew into a hostile environment. Not a day went by that I didn't hear about some new accusations, drama, or rumours being spread by some particularly immature users. Said people made up some truly awful things about some of my friends. Their hateful behaviour went completely unmoderated and unchecked despite attempts to get things resolved.

I decided to not say anything because I believed in the idea of this game. The vision behind it. I thought devs didn't get involved in moderating the community because they were hands-off, and I understood and respected that. I left quietly and hoped things would get better.

However, it seems that the devs didn't ignore the problems because they wanted to stay out of it, but because they're just as immature. The devs were called out for being rude, and instead of being civil about it, they used these painful, already-existing rumours to accuse my friend of AWFUL things (their way of invalidaing his words, I suppose!) without bothering to double-check if they were true - and it was VERY clear they were not. Their behaviour toward my friends has escalated to the point where I no longer want to support this project.

Creating a dragon game does not mean you get to talk down to, invalidate, and accuse your players when you yourself are asked to modify your behaviour. I am disappointed that the people behind this game turned out to be so disrespectful.

I am withdrawing any and all support from this game, and I would like to request my money back. I am not going to fund a group that willingly hurts their user base to defend themselves instead of swallowing their pride and acting with professionalism.

Thank you.

Honestly, this game wasn't really stand out to begin with. Reminds me of The Isle but dragons, and literally less stuff to do. Doesn't help it's case that I view The Isle as, and I quote, "Dinosaur game toxic" due to all the f♥♥♥ing stupid drama and people just being... Dumb, if I can be real. Only reason why I wanted to play this game was because of my friends, but the community ran them out. They don't wanna be around there, and it was a waste of time and money in my opinion to even get it, at this rate.

Sure, y'all might say that this isn't useful for a review but I could care less. The people behind Draconia don't give a crap about anyone but themselves. Stealing art, acting like douchebags and accusing people just because their user names look similar to someone who was ACTUALLY a scumbag? amongst other things that just really make my blood boil. Draconia's got a complex where they have their heads so far up their @$$es that they forgot what good morals are. That's the bottom line from me.

Do not buy this game. Devs are not only slow to provide updates and any semblance of transparency as to what they've been working towards, but they are also entirely incompetent with managing their community and ensuring that everyone is safe.

On my Twitter account, @/moonchicken5, I've written up a ~60 page document detailing the horror show my RP server has had to deal with. Let me give you some details.
-Started with a certain unnamed individual being a creep in other ways. We avoided him initially to avoid drama.
-They start sending their friends into OUR DISCORD and raiding it, sending us death threats, telling us to kill ourselves. All because one of our staff has a similar name to someone who got banned for being a pedophile. They AREN'T THE SAME PERSON. THEY HAVE DIFFERENT STEAM IDS.
-We go to the moderator, telling them that 'hey this guy is slandering one of our friends and raiding our server' and they tell us they can't do anything about it because it didn't happen in the main server, but the main issue person is -still- in their server.
-Essentially, they 'can't do anything'. Fast forward to today, and one of my friends brings up the issue of art reposting without permission nor proper credit.
-Levia Draconia, the LEAD DEV, backpeddles, ignores us, and her fellow moderator, Amendelwyr belittles us and insists we hush up and take it to DMs, even though we all know very well that neither one of them will do anything.
-Levia Draconia brings up the rumor that my friend is THE SAME PEDOPHILE SHE BANNED MONTHS AGO, IN A CONVERSATION WHERE IT HAD NO RELEVANCY NOR BELONGED. ALL BECAUSE SHE COULDN'T SUCK UP AND APOLOGIZE FOR US ASKING HER TO CREDIT OUR ARTWORK PROPERLY, OR EVEN ASKING US PRIOR TO POSTING THEM.

My friend has had their mental health SCARRED because of this fucking rumor. Your moderators don't do anything about it, and in fact, seem to ENABLE Levia.

Levia is ALSO known for her other game, the Archotek Project. Which was also early access. It got abandoned, seemingly out of the blue. Guess what some of the major complaints were? Incompetent developers.

Levia, nor the surrounding moderators, care for their community. They refuse to listen to the users that literally PLEAD to them for help. Arrogant and money-grubbing. Worst $40 I've spent in my entire life, yet at least I've made friends from this horrorshow.

You get to customize the looks of your dragon, I will give them that. Flight is a bit clunky compared to other dragon games out there, I was able to land surf while in flight mode which kinda killed it for me. The game does have potential, just needs fleshed out a bit. At the moment there are around a dozen or so online at a time for the public servers but it is also single player. I will return to this title in the future when there has been a bit more development.

There's not much to it yet, but if you ever wanted a space where you could just hang out as a dragon, griffon, lindwyrm, or a golem, this is a fun way to do it! It's also great for screenshot photographers

MeepMaster

Developers are not professional and belittle concerns of users. While they're updates, a lot of them are quite small. They also taunt their users with the bigger features that we have no idea when they would be released. Along with not getting rid of or have serious conversations with problematic users unless it is dealt with publicly. The Lead developer brings up issues in petty ways that do not belong to the conversation to try to distract and avoid the discussion at hand. Honestly not worth the $35.
DO NOT GET THIS GAME IN IT CURRENT STATE.

[Pros]
+Graphics
+Dragon models
+Customisation
+Cool particles
+friendly players
+Huge Map

[Cons]
-Nighttime is too dark
-Lack of content
-Only a very few playable species: 3 dragons, 1 griffin, and 1 golem
-Incompetent Devs
-Very small empty playerbase
-$35 is not worth the price for an 'Early Access' game.
-Fake Big Updates replaced with patches
-Lack of Food to Survive and No NPCs
-No story & Broken Objectives
-False Advertising

[Conclusion]
"Sooner or later, this game will flop just like The Archotek Project, there's no way this game will be finished in 2023 due to the state it's now in."

Shadow81
Shadow81

Honestly this game is not worth the $35 in it's current state. There is hardly anything to do in the game, other than character customization and world exploration (which isn't that engaging considering that the map itself is plain and doesn't contain anything relatively interesting). The survival aspect is a tad boring as well, considering all you do is use the scent function to locate nearby pieces of food lying around or nearby sources of water (this sounds like a fun concept, but trust me this gets old fast). I would like to make a couple of suggestions to the devs if they happen to stumble upon on this review: First off, please add some more NPC's to fight and possibly hunt for food. Secondly, please add some creative and interesting features to your map such as a made up fantasy-like biome or perhaps the ruins of an ancient city just to add some extra lore and world building to your game. Thirdly, please add a first person camera (this shares no correlation to any of my previous complaints, I just think having a first person camera would be a nice feature) . Lastly, please, PLEASE reduce the price of your game. I understand that games like this need funding, but $35 is just way too much for an unfinished game. I definitely believe that is game has potential, however; given the games current state, I would not recommend this game to anyone at the moment unless the developers reduce the game to a more reasonable price.

Very promising! The Devs are active, frequent updates, for an early alpha. it is very playable. The amount of people in servers is tiny but it means you can explore the large map before people fill it up. And I love that PVP is optional. I sometimes just want to chill, not fight for my life.

Game looks amazing, but it is very buggy and glitchy and not too developed to cost $35
The best thing this game has is the character customization, and that's it. It gets very boring very quickly, and leveling up is unnecessarily slow, just to keep people playing I guess. Will I buy this again? I am not sure, just gotta see how it improves.
Don't get me wrong, this game has lots of potential, and it looks pretty amazing so far, but the price doesn't match what the game offers.

Beautiful surroundings and love the way that the dragons look in game. I find that playing this game can be quite calming and it's neat to see what i stumble upon in the maps. Although not sure how to really create a dragon for multi player, or how to import my previously created dragons over to play them on the other servers. I don't need the previous progress from my private worlds but just their looks so i don't have to keep recreating them.

BlastmodeBeautiful

This game is PRE-ALPHA which is something to keep in mind while reading reviews. It's up right now for full price but that full price offers everything they're going to bring into the game. That being said- if you're at all interested in games like what Day of Dragons was trying to be or an old Istaria fan where being the dragon is in fact the best selling point (me too, I get it) then this is very likely worth it. At the time of writing this game already has an active, friendly community and a vast space to explore, and the Devs are consistently updating, creating new content (I'm very excited for the Wyverns) and listening to community feedback.

If you would rather wait to see how it goes, then by all means wishlist this puppy and keep an eye on it. But if you're on the fence, are interested in a community of dragon enthusiasts or even watching a game grow and spread it's wings (pun intended) then I'd say go for it.

Also, if you see a blue dragon named Rokka flying about, feel free to say hi!

I'm really mad that I paid 30 freaking bucks for this game. Anyways, let's get to a proper review.

What can you do in this game?
- Fly around
- Walk around
- Breathe fire (I guess? It's purple bloom so idk)
- Chomp
- Collect Rocks

Uh... Yeah idk I feel like there is not much else you can do. That's it. That's the game.
I mean yes, the game is pre-alpha. Of course! But to take 30 bucks for this game??? That's like way too much! I tried returning this game but of course because I bought it more than 14 days ago, Steam's shitty return policy didn't let me get my money back.
I am praying that this game will become the best game ever and that my money was not wasted. And I will update my review then. But for now, I'm not recommending this game.

I speak Spanish. I'm going to use Google translate. The game is at a very early stage. Despite not agreeing with the price (It should be cheaper to make it more accessible and thus be able to receive much more help and advice) For people who are thinking of buying it and do not have much money, I recommend waiting, but if you want "invest" in helping creators, go ahead. I would like to say a few things that would be nice for the game to have: [Thermal vision for hunting and hunting mechanics/ Lots of wildlife (all kinds of fauna/ More crafting and more inventory space (in case you don't have more space, yes you pick up an item, it falls to the ground instead of disappearing, so you can choose what to take and what not) / More roars (Not always the same and thus not make it look like a broken record) / Skill tree (or for example to as you level up you can fly faster and be stronger)/ More biomes/ Being able to grab things with your claws/ Events, quests and prizes/ More customization options/ More animations. (Being able to do movements in the air or being able to clinging to rocks avatar movie style) / Natural gestures (What a dragon would do, otherwise it would break immersion) / A founder pack (for people who bought the game in pre-alpha)] That's all for Now, I was excited to contribute. Let's see how it grows. (waiting for reply) ^^

This game has alot of potential, graphics and especially dragon designs are great. Character customisation is awesome, there are so many ways so custormize you character in any color and with various extras.

I saw there are also quests you can do, like collect a certain number of bones, plants, crystals, etc..

From what I've seen theres no, or really slow, passive growing. You can grow pretty fast by collecting bones and crystals and probably more.

Some sounds should be redone (imo) but overall it's a good game with a lot of potential, maybe a liiiittle bit overpriced for a early access but I dont regret buying it and I'm really exited for future updates.

Let me start by saying, the concept for this game is great and I can see a lot of potential in it. It was incredibly fun to create a character and meet a few people on the servers available so without further delay I'm going to break down this games currently available features.

Character Creation:
Character creation was definitely a bit overwhelming and the UI was pretty complex and confusing at first glance. This was easily over come and the amount of options given to create a character was amazing! Overall, its a solid character creator with lots of options to choose from.

Tutorial:
This one was a bit frustration. THERE ISN'T ONE! I think the game could use a small, quick tutorial. Even an easily accessible guide in settings or something similar. Only through asking other members of the server did I even figure out how to fly! Definitely needs work in this department.

Movement and Combat:
Movement and Combat both feel rather clunky and unresponsive. I attempted to attack a golem just to see what would happen. I flew straight through its mesh (seemingly no collision which is a real shame) and hit registration was pretty awful. Flying while fun felt very unnatural and unrealistic, the beat of the wings seeming out of sync for how fast you're actually going. Running and jumping seemed fine enough but anything beyond that was disgraceful in terms of what should be the standard and the expectation for a game of this genre.

Sniff Mechanic:
The mechanic used to find food and water is a staple of the genre. This version of the sniff mechanic was hard to understand at first, with lines going every which way across my screen. This was quite confusing and overall very unintuitive gameplay.

Crafting:
While I didn't get much chance to craft things, it felt very confusing and overall difficult to figure out. Not pleased with this!

Price:
Not a mechanic or feature, but I believe it needs to be addressed. This game, as is right now, is worth maybe 15-25$ USD. There simply isn't enough in this game from a pure gameplay standpoint for it to be anywhere CLOSE to 35$. Heaven forbid anything more. Down the line when this is a Beta or even a finished product, that 35$ could definitely be worth it but for now? ABSOLUTELY NOT!

Overall I feel that this game has potential, but I will say up front that while I understand this game is in early alpha phases, it really isn't ready for the public. Many cored mechanics feel very janky or absent all together. Combat is atrocious and its hard to even attempt to do anything without any sort of help or tutorial given! It's frustrating to say the least that this game thinks that 1. This is a product ready for release to the public, and 2. That this game is worth 35$.

Honest Opinion? Follow this, keep an eye on the development. It has so much potential but its simply not there as a game.

As this game sit at the moment, it's just too under developed to justify it's price point. If the game could come down to around $20, I'd be far more forgiving with my dislikes.

To preface, the game has some solid framework to become something exciting and fun and as the game develops, I know I'll be coming back.

First off, the species of playable races are varied and exciting, but mixing and matching pattern pallets is a no go. You end up with harsh lines between the body and wings and it's very off putting visually

Second, the LOD at distance is pretty bad. One of the exciting things about a flying game is the landscape but when you look at water more then 50m out (on epic settings mind you) the water's surface becomes a distracting collection of perfectly alligned squares.

Third, finding AI to beat is difficult. I flew around for about an hour and never found a single AI. I even tried to follow the beginners map on the game page but without any indication of my general direction, I couldn't figure out where I was looking so I didnt know where to go.

Fourth, the quest system was extremely basic (acceptable for pre alpha, not for $38 after tax)

I look forward to the improvements, but right now, I'd say it's a $15 game, MAYYYYBBEEE $20 depending on their updates in the next month or 2.

at this point in time i don't recommend this game i refunded it since it feels like its not worth the full 30 euro i spend on it.

I got games with more content for less like Breakwaters wich is an awesome game btw

If they expand on it and really make a good dragon game i would give it a try maybe in the future.
Now it feels like they put some assets together for a good demo off 30 euro's

I personally think this game is really cool and has a lot of potential. Gameplay feels a bit empty HOWEVER the game is in a pre-alpha state so bare that in mind!

The dragon customisation is INCREDIBLE and the community is really friendly and nice (at least it was on official eu 1 when i played)

Flying around as a dragon is awesome and there are enough varieties in the species to keep things interesting although the golem is extremely frustrating to level and never really gets to a satisfying size.

Overall I definitely recomend you give it a try and I can't wait to see how this game develops! :D

40 bucks well spent, unlike dod and beast of bermuda, the devs are legit in this game, keep in mind this is prealpha so its not gonna be crazy w/ stuff yet, i heard the team was small and did a pretty impressive job so far, thanks to these guys, i always dreamed of a cool dragon game that wasnt money grabby and had legit care into it, for 10 yrs ive always wanted a good dragon game that wasnt made for greed, devs treat everybody fairly here, there is no special players, everybody gets catered, they have so much plans for this game, finnally i can now be gold and shiny much as i want w/o havin to be a stupid backer that can spend 1000s of dollars just to be a glowy shiny critter, normally i hate devs, but am rootin for these guys, if you guys can see this, just know you just got yourself a big fan, keep up the good work, ill be sure to get my friends to buy copies and support your work, buy this game, dont buy day of dragons or beast of bermuda, those games are trash and i know from experiance

Steam needs to add a neutral rating for games like this. The only reason to buy this is to support the devs in making this game. I don't want to give it a bad rating because it needs support. If you want a game with anything to do right now don't buy it and wait for more content.

Okay, I know I haven't played the game long, however I have a few ideas that I hope the dev(s) will see. Keep in mind that I don't know what is planned, these are just ideas. I would also like to add that this game is amazing for a new release and holds a ton of potential.
First: Adding weight behind every motion would be a great addition and make the animals seem more life like.
Second: Different noises, be it ambiance, water, wind, calls, and more would make the world seem more alive.
Third: Moving water. Like ripples and the ebbing and flowing tides
Fourth: Using wings, feet, and tail to help swimming in the water. Also Hitting rocks and trees would not only slow you down but also wound you based on how much of it you hit, and how thick the branch was.
Fifth: You can only fly so close to the ground, or if you are skimming the earth you change the way you flap out wings. If your flying and your wings keep hitting the ground you will fall. Flying in tight spaces to would be a good reason to fly with wings closer to your body.
Sixth: Adding advance motions that take practice, like loop-d-loops, barrel rolls, etc. People would have a reason to stay on more if they are trying to master skills.
Seventh: A weather system. Rain, storm, hail, nados, tsunamies, drought if it hasn't rained in a while, chances of breathing fire causing fires during a drought increases, and more
Those are all the things I can think of as of right now, I cant wait to watch this game grow. Thank you for all your hard work dev(s).

Please everyone who looks at reviews; take into deep consideration this game at the current moment is PRE-ALPHA, meaning there's next to nothing in it.

With that being said, I appericiate these guys bringing back something not entirely akin to the other dragon game that flopped, but elements of things like The Isle and Path of Titans. Current customizing is simple but you can make them any color without having to do quests or paying in game currency which is AWESOME

The music for what it is, is very nice and so far, the community is very welcoming. I love a game where I can idle and do chores while looking back to my character and see maybe a few others just vibing beside me, strangers or not it's comforting.

I've put 16 hours in, and most of that is laying by the main hub campfire, and it's helped me go to sleep too! Overall I want more added, I'm excited for other types of dragons coming and just to role play and embrace this game!

I had to edit my review because several months in, there have been no meaningful updates to this game. I worry that this is a bit of a cash grab - $35.99 for an unfinished game? Perhaps they should have waited until a beta version was available to release it. There are no quests or things to do. It's essentially a dragon chat room. If you like RPing, you *could* RP, but there is an invisible character limit so the chat eats your posts if you type too much. Now how is that fun? I am disappointed so far. I would like to see some tangible updates that might bring me back, but I cannot in good faith recommend this game. The only content is what the players online bring to it - whether in the form of an RP or twitch stream - but since the chat got nerfed, RPing in-game is a chore.

This game is ALPHA!!!!! meaning its bare bones, it works, but there isn't much to do, graphics are still being refined, etc. This is just basic game play, you get to fly around the world as a dragon.

Where this game shines is its community, join the official discord and find yourself a group to play with. RP and making your own fun is the name of the game right now.

If you aren't wanting to make your own fun and support the devs while they build what looks to be awesome dragon game, then you would be best waiting till the game progresses from Alpha stage. But if you want to make your own fun, hang out with a great supportive community and support the dev team while the work to build us this amazing world to live our your dragon dreams in then consider buying this game and supporting this project.

This game looks like it WILL be great. Right now you really cant do much. A feature that I would suggest adding in is double jump(space) to fly and if you get close enough for long enough on the ground you should automatically land. I did not like have to push a button to land if I am directly diverting to the ground. I did not mess with the crafting aspect of this I was mainly flying around looking for a cow to chomp on which i never found. I will buy this game once it get further along because I want to be the dragon but dont want pvp forced upon me.

As someone who has been playing this game since its release in January 13th this year. I can very well say that this is a game that has been in development by a small team for about 2 or more years. The dev team has been taking their time with this game and things aren't being rushed out to meet some quotas. For the past 600+ hrs I've been running around helping people out. I can tell that the player base for this game is 1 of the kindest I have seen. Though the game is currently in its Pre-Alpha development which is before Alpha. Expect there to not be a whole lot since again, the dev team is currently small.

As far as the leveling aspect goes for the game, for now it seems simple and quick but that is usually something you should expect for a Pre-Alpha and it could be changed later on to be a bit of a longer grind which is usually how MORPGS and MMORPGS go. Though things are expected to change later on. It is a game I recommend for in its current state if you want to have a calm place to hang out, make a character and chat with the players. Though the game is not PvP focused and you have the option to turn PvP on or keep it off which is perfectly fine with me.

Currently leveling as it stands as well as questing is very very bare bones but this game is only a few months old. Yes I can see why people are not a fan of the price for a game like this in its current state but honestly. Compared to most games Pre-Alphas, this has been 1 of the most detailed ones in my opinion. Of course to find out more about the game, not much is shown to the buyer on steams page. I would recommend joining the discord to see how the games development comes a long before considering buying the game.

Definitely not worth $35. There's a severe lack of any guide, you're just tossed right into the game without any sort of tutorial. Playerbase is quite dead, the only active server had about 20 players. Don't buy this game in its current state

It's not finished, but It's a game I enjoy. Fly around as a Dragon, or a Griffin. Limp around like a Lindworm or a small golem boi. Whatever interests you. This game was not worth from what I spent on it "£27.79!?" I could buy a much more detailed and more to offer game with that. Seriously, if this game doesn't get a better look to it than it is now, don't buy it. There's not much to do it this game, from my experience from the game, it didn't direct me in which places to visit to continue story. Even if it did, it's still hella confusing. And the crafting... well there are alot of useless items that can't craft and would fill up your inventory very quickly. If you do buy this game, the only hope is to find a player who actually got through it and ask for help. I doubt there's any other way unless you're lucky.

The skin making system was the only this I enjoyed about this as there is quite alot of options to design your dragon, but naming the dragon is confusing. Apparently, you have to choose a character name no one else has chose? It's not like making an account, It's a flipping character name. Your steam name does appear below your character's name in the actual maps though. I feel like they should've replaced it with actual account making? Maybe less confusing?

But altogether please do not buy this game unless you would like to take the risk of knowing how to work it. Thank you for reading.

ive been following this game for a little bit more than a year now and i have to say its come a long way. customization is definately my favorite aspect of the game since its got a lot of features and its very fun to make numerous skins for the creatures, though the griffin is a bit lacking in customization. the community is very helpful and welcoming, if you need help as a newbie just ask in chat on a public server as there is no tutorial yet.
the price of this game is a bit high for what it is right now, but its worth a shot if youre thinking about purchasing it.

As a huge dragon enjoyer (since I had my own conscious thoughts), this game really hits the spot. A lot of dragon games I have seen don't feel natural, or don't have good looking models. Draconia is literally just. So good. The animations, the models, the HUGE free-roam map. Plus the amazing kind community that I've seen so far. Games been in development since 2016. They're shooting for a release date of end of 2023, but at the pace it's on right now, it won't make that date. Updates right now are inconsistent, and practically featureless. It almost seems as if the devs of this indie game have no clear roadmap or leadership. I'll update this review as time goes by.

Not very much content, or anything to do really besides growing the creature of your choice, but from what I've read on the road map, the game is going to have A LOT of more things to do, and they all sound great! if you are a dragon fan, this one is interesting. at the moment i personally don't find it interesting or fun with the lack of much to do and it is a bit odd to me. but i can both recommend it and not.

the gameplay is interesting and enjoyable being a dragon in a MMO style setting, where you collect resources and craft places to hide your loot, complete quests, and overall, fly around as a dragon and explore the world from the skies. the lack of NPC's on the other hand drives me away from it and gives it a negative star on the review. however, the positives of the idea and design outweigh. if it is something you like, then fly on over to the cart and give this game a sniff. it might be what you like/want

P.S. i may have refunded it, but i will keep an eye on this title for the future to see how it develops

Still new to the game but loving it more and more every day. One of my first nights on I had such a sense of nostalgia for sitting around a little campfire late into the night just like back when I was in middle school on games like this talking to people and showing off our cool creations. I LOVE the character models, I love all the options, the colors, everyone's creativity and willingness to help new players if you're patient. The flying is great in my opinion! I'm really excited to keep playing and see how it develops. Even thinking of trying to support the game further when I can afford it later this summer!

The price tag is hefty, but I still strongly recommend this game, even in pre-alpha.

You can fly around and be a dragon - that's all it had to be for it to sell itself to me. It seems to want to be an MMORPG. You can go online with other people in servers and hang out with them there. The community is kind and funny and everyone is just excited to be dragons with each other. A very wholesome space that anyone is welcome to join. The more the merrier!

If you are here for a roleplay experience, this game has great potential, a quite large community that is constantly active.
However most of these people are minors, and i have experienced some uncomfortable situations, because the official servers have ZERO moderation. Hopefully in the future one day we will get a better game that lives up to the expectations this raises. one day.

I know it's super early access, so I'll give it another go in the future. But for starters, the lighting is very poor quality. Hard to see anything, and it wasn't night time. Not enough ambient light, I think.

While this game is small at the moment and not much to do due to being pre-alpha, it has so much potential to be a great dragon game! The developers are very nice and listen to their feedback, a huge pro on my part. If you look to chill with friends while flying around a free-roam map, I recommend you give this game a try. This game, so far, is sort of like another game called The Isle. The amount of realism that was put into the models makes the game all the better. Though some of the animations are a bit bugged, for being a pretty new game, it has great opportunity for future versions. I feel like people who have much imagination would like this game. You can create a dragon with any color you want, and add cool markings that make the customization all the better. The people who play on the public servers are always nice and fair, having kind hearts, and amazing roleplays. I highly recommend this game for anyone looking to have a good time.

GalaxyTrico

In the current state of the game it definitely has its issues and is quite pricey, though everyone should consider its still in pre-alpha. Gameplay wise there isn't currently much to do except for mission quests and definitely needs polishing. The customization is personally my favorite thing about Draconia, I've fallen in love with these characters and sketching them, eventhough I've been on an art block since the beginning of 2021. Otherwise what a fantastic game and friendly community and discord server. The developers listen to the community and asks for recommendations, they even have a roadmad of future major integrations. Yeah again, the game has its issues, but they're making great progress. I'm glad I decided to support the game through their patreon so I'm able see the development, definitely been seeing exciting updates about the eastern dragon. Consider checking out the server before buying!

Love this game and it's aesthetics. The first true dragon game I've seen with interesting concepts for creatures, amazing graphics, and a loving and active community all at the same time. If you can set aside the money, I HIGHLY recommend this game, and this is a one-time payment with full access to everything in the future. The character creation also makes me very very happy, i could just do the creation as it's own game and have fun for hours.

Devs, i don't know if you read these but i have a few things to say about this game including good things, things i think should be added, and things i think should be changed. To start off i will say what good things i think there is in this beautiful game. First the world you made is amazing and the skin customization is the best of any game i have played. I also think that having a global chat and RP chat is amazing also. To start of things i think should be added is more vocals or calls in this game. I do like the calls but i feel there should be more. For things i think should be changed the Euro's call one of them kinda sounds like a sqeaky chair, no offense. I think the sqeaking should be fixed/changed. i also thing that when you breath fire that it should leave like scorch marks or somthing along those lines. I also think Griffen should have more customization options. The Euro and LindiWorm both have War Paint and things like Dragon Skulls, and Glow Horns. I feel like Griffen could have some of those things too. In the latest update the camera view was changed. I honestly don't like it and think it should be changed back to the old one or should have a option to be the old one. That is all i have to say for now I do love the game very much. Thank you for putting hard work into this game. It really shows.

Pros:
-Dragons/creatures to customize, sorta?
-World exploration, I guess.
-Chatting/rp (if you're into that)
-Decent graphics with amazing attention to detail. They did put a lot of work into the environment.
-Room for growth as a game, with applications for crafting, quests, storylines, and more.
-There are days where one member of the staff team interacts (streams on Twitch) with the community in-game, which is great!
-Most of the in-game community is great. There's a lot of helpful folks who are friendly and kind, as well as a large RP community.

Cons:
-Absolutely nothing even started for storyline/overall plot. There's really no content at all, actually.. but they're adding more dragons to do nothing as, guys! Guys?
-There's a couple quests, but they only half work and they're not rewarding at all.
-Some members of the staff team are hostile/rude. (You can avoid them if you stay out of the Discord though.)
-There's zero in-game chat moderation. Staff in the discord just tell you to 'mute the player that's bothering you'.
-There's an invisible character limit on the in-game chat, which makes any sort of meaningful RP impossible.
-There's allegations of a groomer being allowed to play, despite this issue having been brought to the attention of staff. So far, the individual is still active in the game. (so take that as you will)
-Bugs, bugs, bugs! (though it's alpha, so I can forgive most of that)

I have over 400 hours on this game. Obviously I do love it, and it has so much potential. However, there's some serious issues that really need to be addressed. Until they are, I'm not sure I can morally withstand recommending this game to anyone.

Game has potential, at least from what i could see in character creation. No one was online, and every time I attempted to join a server it wouldn't get past the loading screen before making my PC run at abysmal speed (I own a gaming desktop so this just feels ridiculous, even at the lowest graphics). I don't wanna ruin it's chances to be anything else, but it is pretty expensive for the amount of content it has.. or lacks of as an alpha.

Has potential to go somewhere, but I'd say only buy it in it's current state if you wanted to support the game. There's not much to do except fly around for a bit and level up your dragon characters as of now. The most exciting features of this game (in my opinion) is the detailed character creator and the photo mode, which allows you to make some beautiful pictures.
I do hope this game goes somewhere good, especially with the sudden small rise in popularity of ''play as a dragon'' games.

Don't get this game.

At first, I would've loved to recommend it - Customizable dragons with any colors you could want, lore incoming, beautiful map and models!

However, lots have things have happened that have made me change my opinion.
First - They have added a character text limit to a game that at the moment, is only good for RPing. Before they did this, there were easily 20-30 people in servers.

Now only 10 people are on, at the most.

There isn't anything to do. You hop on, grow, try to RP with the very short character limit, fly around the map, and.. That's it. Sure, you can take screenshots and design dragons, but that grows old with only 4-5 skins you can customize.

My other issue is with the moderators of this game.
If you have an issue with someone or something, you're screwed. Unless something directly happens in the game's discord, they will do nothing about it.
So if you're being harassed or anything, good luck.

So much drama occurs in this game as well. I know the moderators have had plenty of DMs involving numerous people, and do nothing about it.

Not only are the devs/mods driving away their own source of income (I.E driving out Roleplayers by the character-text limit), they're driving them out because they don't do anything to solve or help with issues.

Nothing will happen from this game. We may get updates, but what is there to do on a game that has barely anything? It's early access sure, but once you take out the only element - The RP element - what are you left with?
Nothing, really.

I hope it gets better. I genuinely do.
But until then, I can't recommend this to anyone.

I need healing

The game is AMAZING! Sure there isn't much to do in-game as of this review, BUT it does have a lot of potential. I will say this, the devs could be a little more nicer in the discord and explain certain things and the current version of the game isn't worth $40, but other than that the community/game is very welcoming and fun!

Gonna be frank. Starting with the cons because warnings are in order.

In the current early access state of the game, roleplay is it's main form of traffic and the best way to entertain yourself. Recently, a character limit was enforced, which drove the roleplayers away quickly, leaving servers dead and dry for the most part. There is no game lore, there is no serious task system, leveling up requires zero effort, and once you explore the map and take cool pictures with your lovely dragons, it's.. boring. Is there promise? Sure, maybe, but given the past abandoned projects of the developer/s, you never know.

It's all sunshine and rainbows when you make your first dragon and log in, and the community seems super helpful and, for the most part, is.. at first.
The longer you stay, the deeper you go, the more you realize that some of it is a facade. Petty drama around every corner by the players, cliques, harassment, two-faced people who act friendly but will turn on you in seconds if you don't agree with everything they say. What do the moderators/admins tell you to do in response to what you may be dealing with? "Sorry, can't help you, just block/mute". That only goes so far when an entire group is targeting you or someone you know.

Definitely don't recommend this game for children. No chat filters for those under 18, predatory folk or people who make extremely explicit jokes are only banned if an admin is on while it's happening.

If you're a male adult, I don't recommend this game either, because a favored retaliation method among players is accusing people (males) of acts like p*dophilia, with either entirely fabricated, out of context, or literally just non-existent evidence. It happened twice to people I know in the community.

..Then again, servers are empty anyway. This is just my experience over the past few months, 200hrs of gameplay later. What do I know?

Maybe some pros will convince you to buy this game, if you haven't already scrolled away. :)

The graphics are great, the mechanics are pretty easy to master, and there are no serious consequences for your character dying. PvP is rough at best, but that's not why people really get this game.. if at all, anymore.

Making your own dragons is fun, you get to play around with fun patterns and.. that's about it. I'll probably only stick around to check out the game's progress and pop in now and then, personally.

TL/DR: Not worth it until admins do their jobs and the game gets more content.

ok so i played this last night for a bit. in about an hour i go max level cap, maxxed my dragon growth out, and ran out of stuff to do. went and checked the environment out for a bit. In a lot of the videos reviews i saw, the thing that kept people playing and engaged the most, was the social aspect. Unfortunately when I logged in, out of the four server options, there was only one with players in it, and there was only one logged in. So its pretty dead. I believe one more logged in later, but the social aspect is basically nonexistent right now. SO, with that, as there is nothing to do in the game, and what there is to do is beaten quite quickly, im going to refund this and keep an eye on it, but I dont recommend you buy it at this point.

Update: They banned me from their forums for "being toxic". I had made a comment on how dead the forums were and got banned by a developer. So I will absolutely not be giving this game another try, first time ive ever been so much as warned in any steam community and they go right to a ban over practically nothing. I will leave my previous review up for posterity, however I went from cautiously curious about this game, to F this game and its devs real quick. YMMV.

Personally, looking at the whole game in general and reviewing updates overtime I've come to learn the appreciation and artistic qualities of the creation of this game. I enjoy the community and its friendly welcome towards new players and the interaction is very interesting to witness. The game, being a pre-alpha at this moment as I write the review, is in a state of high quality development and detail. I'll admit theres still quite a few things to work on, as of right now there isn't much of a battle system yet and some character customization and landscape developments are still taking place... Among other things of course. However as I have stated, right now this is a pre-alpha game. Seeing the development that has come from the months I've played is definitely something wonderful to witness, and I honestly can't wait to see the potential of this game that it grows into. My personal suggestion? Try the game out and experiment, talk to the people in the community around you, and see what there is to enjoy overtime.

at the moment this game is nothing but a "make your own pretty dragon" simulator.
the dragons and models are breath takingly designed with love but everything is stiff and janky and flight feels downright horrible.....
combat is depressingly slow and dull and even with what players are in servers, theres barely any sound effects.
this game is deafeningly silent.. no ambiance, no birds, no grass crunching beneath ones feet, the world is huge but dead with NOTHING and i do mean NOTHING alive in it but a single ai rarely seen.

though the games in early development and may have a good future, its not worth its asking price...
ive played it less than an hour and im already bored and depressed and thinking heavily on a refund....

a little advice would be to add some life to the world and focus on ai and bosses before trying to sell people on the dragons.

this game looks like it has great potential in the future but i cant recommend this to no one in its state and price right now

Is it worth for that price ? Sry, no.
For maybe 10€ then yes, because it has nearly nothing it and is in pre-alpha.

It´s how other said, very very empty. An empty village and a big map with some water, many trees, sand and that´s it.

Dragon customisation is interesting, but only colour changing on different parts. Details customisation are also not much there. Just scalie ones and no fur or feathers. Necklaces, rings or something else is not given. Just a bad looking bracelet and a strange tail ring. ^^°
You can currently only have a western dragon, wyvern and gryphon.
A bit crafting system is in it, but not really interesting to grind for materials.

Music is made by Vindsvept and he really know what he´s doing over many years. ;)

So in the end to say:

Wait until beta will come out somewhere in the future and keep an eye on this game.
Currently not worth to buy it and if you want to help those developers, then become a Patreon.
It helps them more to continue this project than a one-time purchase.

It's still under-development, but so far the customization and art are gorgeous and the Vindsvept OST is coming along beautifully. I look forward to seeing what this will ultimately become.

I am going to make this Review different then most of my others as the game is far from complete.

1. There is nothing in the game right now, no npc's nothing to interact with other then resources.
2. The Customization to the Dragons OR Whatever you choose is great and because of that I will hold onto the game.
3. The Graphics are not the best if I would rate it on a scale of 1-10 I would have to choose about a 5.
4. The current price even with the sale is pretty high considering there is hardly any content in the game, Stop adding new creatures to play as and start adding stuff to play with like npc's.

This game could be one of the best MORPG games out there easily, you have your Customization, Gear, Building spots indicating that not only is it a Survival Style game but you also are able to build things with a Creature. The Storms could be reworked to not happen as often, maybe add something really cool like flying and getting knocked out of the sky by a bolt of lightning, Maybe a Tornado that will actually damage you and your stuff. The biggest fault in these style of games is the lack of NPC's there should be many many many things to Hunt and Hurt you aswell. Now to end this Id like to say that as of right now I will Recommend this game because I honestly hope that these Dev's will see that people do like this Genre and are begging for a game to scratch that Creature/Survival style Genre itch that has been begging to be scratched since the years of Spyro. This game has potential of easily being a 10/10 game but as the state it is currently in I have to be fair as its still being updated. 5/10 Stars Lets all hope the Draconia Dev's will take this game to heart and make it their baby.

Still early access, with a couple of ctd's so far, but runs smooth other than that. Character customization is out of this world. No two characters look the same. Not much to it so far, but I can't wait for the final product. You can feel the potential as you play for lore, quests, growth, battles, etc. Has a lot of regular updates with a pleasant and passionate dev team from what I have seen. I say buy it now at such a good price. This game is definitely going to be $60 when finished. Love the game and unique designs and the level of detail put into the characters, species, and customizations. Can't wait for more updates and to watch this game form to completion.

Extremely promising and underrated. Quite pretty graphics, lots of customization options (which is what I look for in these types of games), decent player community. Super excited for further developments.
