Play Xenoverse 2. This was good(ish) when it came out, didn't age well tho. Xenoverse 2 took all these machinics and upped them by a lot. So this is the only reason I don't recommend this.
Only reason to buy is if you wanna know the story before playing Xenoverse 2.
Im glad i played this trash before buying 2, i forgot how bad this game was, Saved me money
ta bueno si no te alcanza para xenoverse 2 o si no te corre (en mi caso las dos) y incluso si el 2 lo supera por mucho sigue siendo muy buen juego, recomendado
I'm a big Dragon Ball fan, and I always found this game and franchise so interesting to play. I won't say more, since I am also biased in favor of the dragonball franchise.
This is a awesome game. trying to 100% is a challenge with rng but its a fun challenge. would recommend if your looking for a fighting/mmo game
If you own neither of the Xenoverse games:
Just skip this and buy Xenoverse 2 instead. 👍
2 is where all the efforts and QoL changes went.
1 is, and plays, like a prototype / proof of concept in comparison. Redundant. Obsolete.
Here is only a pair of significant examples, because I want this review to stay short. But, to give you an idea: XV1 has poor/annoying drop rates and very slow hub navigation.
Game has an all new original story and new characters, Future Trunks returns now working for the Time Patrol, and you get to go back throughout the various seasons of Dragon Ball Z & GT if you get the DLC.
So Back in 2015
I wrote a negitive review for DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE for a outlet that I no longer work/write for
and covered the lack of stable servers and a complete lack of a system to prevent people form abusing the lack of any anticheat so people with godmode/all max stats and faster combos and attack speeds.
I then stopped playing DBX and moved on.
within the week I was asked to leave the outlet (not due to this review)
So after hearing the PC version had gotten better I bought the game on Steam and played for a week or so.
Then something Odd happened.
I logged in one day to find my Frezza save data was gone.
while Annoyed I made a new one and started over since the game was at least fun to play solo.
after a couple of hours on the story and about half way to where I was before my data got "lost" I logged out and went to work.
When I came back home I logged back onto DBX only to see my data was once again gone. (this is where the real Story starts)
So after posting of the steam forums I was told by a community manager to Email Support (BANDAI NAMCO U.S) with my logs and a few select files to see if there was a new game breaking bug.
Only for them a week later to tell me that there was no bug but that in fact i had been Softbanned by (BANDAI NAMCO JP)
When I asked what the reason for the ban was I was told by support(U.S) that any platform account with the email that was tied to my old outlet position had been soft-banned for posting a negative review that had effected the sale of the game on the Play Station Market, and that the ban would be in effect for 5 years.
This soft banned covered EVERY game published with a online cloud save feature by
BANDAI NAMCO.
from Darksouls , Digimon, Ni no Kuni 1 & 2 and of course DBX 1 & 2.
Lots of fun. Play as your own character and fight notable battles in DB history. What's not to love?
jogo muito bom valeu cada centavo
I love xenoverse 1 you can make your own CAC. Also i waych Burcol the youtuber anyway i love helping Goku my fav charecter
Great game if you wanna break your monitor
the game not save whyyyyyyyyyy all time i quit the game the and back to pley the game restart
releasing this game for sixty dollars was criminal
Do you like grinding for hours till your eyes start burning in order to make a single step in the campaign?
Do you like repeating the same fight with the same setup over and over for days, until you make a little bit of progress and unlock a useless technique that you're never gonne utilize?
Wait, you don't actually like wasting your time grinding in a video game?
Yeah, welcome to the club pal.
Can we just get anothr Budokai Tenkaichi instead?
EDIT: Ok. I was a little too harsh in my original review. There is a lot to be appreciated here. The character customization system is real nice, the inclusion of almost every single technique present in the series is a nice touch, and there is a solid variety of characters to play as.
But the grinding required to get there is unforgibvable. Get yourself a Cheat Engine table, maxx out your first character to get everything unlocked (disregard getting banned. Once you complete story mode you can make new characters) and then you can actually enjoy the game.
too much rng, don't waste your time
I got to get ZOOSTED. With Goku!
it has glitches in the game a stops playing in the story sometimes
Good game, not as good animation wise, but over all a game where you can have your personalized DBZ Character, and yes I realized I'm over 5 years late.
Monster Hunter but Dragon Ball.
7/10. Prepare for controller biting.
very good game,
rage percent: 80
Yes if you are a dragon ball type of guy, If you dont hate or dont like dragon ball its a ehh game
finalmente posso jogar sem arrependimentos
jogo bom
Yes I've loved this game so much since 2015, I've loved it so much, that I've reset my achievements and my character just to play all over again and grind again, don't know why I did this but I did
Dragon Ball Xenoverse is just mediocre and feels unfinished.
There would ve been so much potential, though.
I would ONLY recommend it to those of you who really dig DB and nostalgia vibe and don't care about gameplay/ story/ plot/ community/ ballanced fighting system.
Story:
The evil demigod Forgot-His-Name messes with the flow of time by changing the outcome of crucial fights of our beloved Z-fighters. Most of those fights are of the Z-saga.
Thus Trunks and the Supreme Kai of Time wish (from Shenron) for a strong fighter to help them with the quest of bringing the flow of time back to normal again.
The story could ve been good and there's good start with the avatar characterization - but the game rarely feels emersive.
The story can only be played in single player mode. Though, there is the option to play specific fights of the story mode in the parallel quest mode online and with your friends or other players. Though there never seems to be someone in there and the rooms are empty.
Thus playing the story feels rather linear and choppy. It always follows this pattern:
A) You first talk to Trunks and the Kai...
B) A short video sequence of your avatar grabbing the scroll of time follows
C) You fight the fight
This is how you proceede. You dont do choices that matter. You either loser (and have to do it again) or you win which is the only way you can further the story.
It's really dull, really.
Playing:
The controls are okay for a playstation port, I guess. Though the mouse/ camera is way to sensitive and you cannot change it. You have to get used to it.
The gameplay is VERY, VERY, VERY unintuitive. There's no good tutorial. Well you do stumble over Trunks at the beginning and he challenges you to a fight to see if you are a good time patroller (cringe). Then several boxes appear that briefly explain the basic movement mechanics with screenshots and a bit text. It's way too much information at once and the info is very undetailled. But that's basically it. You can revisit those same tutorials by talking to a robot in the main city.
But if you REALLY want to know what you're doing, how you can connect basic attack combos, energy blasts and strike attacks you are out of luck. Thus, there's a lot of random button smashing which too gets the job done. The combos are stupid as well and and the name COMBO is an insult to every Tekken and fighting game enthusiast (LMB, LMB, LMB, LMB, LMB, LMB interruptable with RMB or vice versa).
The game provides little to NO numbers.
There's the possibility to pick your own set of attacks - yes. but to get those, you have to earn them by (mostly) defeating the fighter that "owns" those attacks in story mode or in the parallel quests. Some attacks/ attributes/ clothes drop only, when you ACE the quest, though.
If you have aquired the attacks, you can pick them from a list in the main menu. But there is neither a video that shows the attack nor any info about the dmg it does. This is okay for the most famous ones (everyone knows the Kamehameha) but the list grows longer and longer and all you have is a little text that basically reads "if you use this, it will shoot a beam that does dmg".
So you have to try (a LOT) to find out what does what.
Same goes for the attribute points that you can spend. You wanna shoot powerful blasts? Cool, place your points on this skill. How many? Well, find out yourself. Luckily there are a few guides on steam that help with that.
Speaking of: the game therefore is very, very grindy. You need those attacks and you need those levels otherwise you cannot compete in PVP or proceed in the story. It takes aaaaaages to level up and it's boring as fukc. BC, if you cannot fight PVP, and you cannot win the recent fight in story mode, you're stuck with the parallel quests. And it takes ages, hours and hours of doing the same quests until you finally rise in level.
Fighting PVP is frustrating as fukc as well. There are only a few players online and those who are, are those no life ppl with their level 99 Avatar maxed out. So basically you wait forever to find someone and then you get beat the shidd out of ya.
Oh yeah, speaking of community and communication. There is no in-game chat. You do have the possibility, though, to use a set of default sentences to communicate (like "Hello", "I need help", "Goodbye") but it doesn't really work out.
The game tries to be something between a fighting game and a MORPG - but fails at that. It feels unfinished, static and boring.
The music is terrible as well. There's a catchy intro song but the only (!) other song that you hear is one that surely sounds like it could be from DB. But it's short, repeats endlessly and thus becomes boring very fast.
I really cannot recommend this game.
XV2 Is better. If you are only gonna buy one, buy XV2 like trust me.
Glorious Earthling Master Race > Dirty Saiyan Peasant
Just another cash grab DLC namco game.
big dragon ball fan take after my father lol we had this for ps3 and xbox one and I decided to get it for PC still I love it so much. I also got the second one since I've never played it so excited to finish it.
good game~ 5 stars
this game seems quite melee fighting unfriendly - no matter in parallel missions or in main story line
you will still forced to be surrounded by 2 or >2 enemies ... and the worse part is that when your opponents revived they would appear just right next to you, which means after short animation clips you are probably going to lose your hp ... Don't go pure melee fighting style directly if you are new to this game !!!
the Graffias kinda band but some cut seens blow up like blow my mind and the fact that vegito and gogeta ssj4 in the game is mind boggling
have problems cant play any mession or play online i think its glitch i wish you help me
Amazing game especially for DRAGON BALL fans. Also it is only 10$ when it could easily be 30$.
Some of the Dragon Ball games I enjoy playing, you can enjoy the world of Dragon Ball with your custom character. This is great.
Good game and has alot of action.
Try and beat it. =D
My second favorite DB game after Fighterz
If combat could be a bit more deep and less repetitive this could be the best DBZ game ever made.
It still pretty awesome though.
This game is amazing, but aged pretty bad compared to the sequel.
I liked that even if your level is low that you can still win, so long as you play smart. I am addicted to the customization, and I enjoyed the story of the game very much.
The control scheme is entirely too complex, and doesn't feel natural at all. Quests get excessively difficult extremely quickly.
Nice recap of Dragonball Z with an interesting original storyline.
This is probably one of the most fun series I've ever played. If you like DBZ and you wanted to have your own character go through it, I cannot recommend this and its sequel, more. It's fantastic.
😸👍 7.9 out of 10
Pros: One Of The Best Dragon Ball Games Ever Made
Cons: The (Now Empty) Online Mode Was A Big Focus
This is a fun Dragon Ball game with a neat story, as long as you don't want to play online (servers dead) and just want to have fun offline.
My girlfriend told me that she would never pay for anime games, as she believed that it cost too much and that she would not play games such as this in the long run. However, I decided to buy it for her out of my pocket - AND SHE WAS OBSESSED. I tell you. Wait till' there is sale and buy this game. I got so much pussy that day and you will too! If you don't have a girlfriend, you will have one, one day once you buy this game.
The game IS okay. But buy Xenoverse 2 instead. 2 is the MUCH better game, has more content, and it will summarize the events of the first game anyway, so there really isn't a point in playing it. Online has been LONG dead.
make your own naruto is fun and it was refreshing to play after a long while since i last played budokai tenkaichi 3 but i dont think there were those stupid tournaments from those games and i need stupid tournaments and unlocks
also slight spoilers about the story...
the history changing moments i remember being all the same, the sonic '06 mephiles purple would make the enemy stronger then your OC naruto shows up and the same thing happens anyways except maybe goku says something cheeky to you
if you like dragon ball z , buy this game, idk of mulitplayer is dead or not but it has a great offline story and quest just like the tv series, its awesome. you get to choose your race and make your own charicter. i also bought alll the dlc, controls for keybord are pretty good. this is a very fun game with good graphics.
PLEASE ADD SUPER SAIYAN 4 VEGETA BACK IN GAME...
Why do I need to collect a Dragon's balls to make a wish?
Fun take on the DBZ universe. Same story with a twist. Create your own character. That's about it to this dated game.
Revolutionary when it first came out, but now poor frame rate and lack of player base, the game is essentially dead too. Thankfully, single player is still playable. Would be better off spending money on the 2nd game, or another DB title.
Turns out i'm not into fighting games like this who knew huh?
However if you do like fighting games where you have to remember a bunch of combinations of buttons to beat the enemy then this is pretty good from what i played of it.
Great game, sadly no online features
The game erased all of my save data even after claiming to have it backed up on the seam cloud
It blows my mind that the time-travelers go through the same old sagas in the same chronological order. They do the exact same thing in the sequel.
Why are these developers so unimaginative?
Still good in My low end laptop
Genuinely a fantastic game.
That said, Xenoverse 2 has most of the same content, but way more stuff included. You'll have a good time if you play both, and you can get a few extra things in the second if you play this one first.
But you honestly won't miss out on too much if you just skip this one and pick up XV2 instead.
Simple a good game for dragon ball fans
everthing is closed and that makes it unplayable
gamer game for weeby gameric gamers
Great game, altho the online achievements now take a bit of work with others to do...
So, this is a semi-easy game to 100%. Online achievements can be achieved by pairing with one willing partner for most of them. You will need two partners for the "Observe 7 online quests" achievement. The "Revive Allies 7 times" achievement needs to be done in online mode, but can be done with AIs and one willing partner. Just go 2v2 and each of you have an AI you can repeatedly kill. This might take 2 games, due to timer running out. However, it is kind of buggy, I only revived my AI 5 times, and it gave the achievement after that one match.
The most time consuming achievements will be finding all masters. However, go into "Offline Battles", 1v1, and exit back out after getting to the "choose your character" screen. This will reset mentors faster, and is on a line with your route. This is much faster than exiting and re-entering the game.
If you're a fan of Dragon Ball, I highly recommend this game. You can fight with and against your favourite characters in the most memorable places of the DBZ world. Only problem is that the game is pretty grindy. 8/10 - great game
cool game but rather play it on console. impulsive buy for me.
This game is not really bad, but as someone else already said, it's more of like a tech demo. I'm a Dragon Ball fan but I find this game dull, empty, effortless, especially if compared to other great games from the past (the Budokai series, for example). It lacks many characters that are usually available and also important parts of the story (like the Cell Saga, it's cut really short). And there is no way to unlock Vegeta SSJ4 unless you pre-ordered the game, which sucks.
Fights are well done, especially once you start to become good. Once again maybe not as good as Budokai series (which has been released 20 years ago) but good. The real problem is the grinding. You need to grind a lot, in order to improve your character, to find the skills, the items, etc...and that's really boring. Not much strategy or anything else, just doing again and again the same fights in order to get the right items (which are random). It get boring fast. I played it a lot only because I'm a fan and that helped enduring the boredom, but I wouldn't suggest it to anyone.
I still didn't played Xenoverse 2 but I hope they did better as someone else told me.
Played this game about 7 years ago on 30fps. Happy I am able to play this game again at 150fps now : )
Probably was good but now its unplayable because of the servers being shut, doesnt even let you play any offline modes either. waste of time and money
havent played it like 20 years but i remember it being kinda shitty. very hard to control and very difficult to keep track of your enemies. It is possible that was just some fucked up nightmare i had. idk
4 / 23 - dragan bold
Last time on Dragon Ball Z. With no more battles to fight, Goku had settled into a peaceful life with Chi-Chi and his new son. But peaceful though it may be, life in the countryside is anything but quiet. The woods can be a dangerous place for a young boy alone. Fortunately for Gohan his father is one of the strongest men in the world and Goku was there in the nick of time to pull his son from harm's way. But even as father and son braved the perils of the woods, little did they know a far greater threat was descending upon the earth. An alien spacecraft fell from the skies carrying aboard an unexpected and most unwelcome visitor. Piccolo was the first to meet this mysterious invader face to face and the extend of the aliens power was revealed. Despite being one of the mightiest fighters on earth, Piccolo's awesome energy attack had little effect. Though powerless to defend himself against this foe, Piccolo's life was spared when the alien sped away to continue to search for a man named Kakarot.
Finished the game and wow this game is incredible!
IF you a Dragon Ball Fan Then its a must have game
easy fun game! get it when it's on sale
game is dead and there are still sales for it what a scam
its a great game for dbz fans but as of now may feel dated but it is still decent and its successor is even better in my opinion
Dragon Ball name is enough to buy and the rest game is awesome
you should play if you like dragon ball
If I had a gun with three rounds and would find myself in a room with Hitler, Bin Laden, Gaddafi and the developer of this game, I would shoot the developer three times.
A little grind-y but overall very good!
Also Blue Hurricane is god tier ngl-
Can't reset progress. Wanted to play through again from scratch. Deleting dbzxv.sav didn't work. No i don't want to replay time capsule. Idiotic devs.
i like this game. its a good time.
it's Dragon Ball, it's worth it
i beat the game in 5 and a half hours. thats a new record for me. great game. i really enjoyed playing it. how can you not enjoy this game. gonna play the game some more before i play xenoverse2. both games are great. i recommend buying them now while theyre on sale if you really want to buy this game. it has tons of replayability imo. fun storyline too. devs did a good job. also if you want max stats from the beginning you can use cheat engine to modify your character, however, if you do this, please do not ruin the game for other players. just play offline only singleplayer. its still fun either way.
Frustrating RNG makes the game annoying and not fun at all.
Death is simply another stage of our life.
You can play as a character created by yourself which is amazing!
Have you heard of the Greek hero, Bohpades, the grand-nephew of Achilles?
One of the best games ever made!!!
This game is pure nonsense and I wouldn't have it any other way
