This is a really interesting release. I love the visual presentation, and the game is pretty fun too, but the amount of content is really limited, and it's also a little rough around the edges. I'd suggest picking it up during a sale.

Way too difficult. I'm reading comments from 2018 saying its too easy. I guess they tweaked it too be the exact opposite after enough complaints. Your "boosters" are an absolute joke. It takes forever to get from one objective to another. You are also getting shot at the whole way there and you are killed by a missile before your objective is even within range.

Mind meltingly bad controls while using Valve's knuckles. For one thing, built only to expect Vive controllers. Orientation of the controller is nearly impossible to line up with the actual direction you want the ship to point, no matter how much I mess with the controller tilt slider. Manages to find an insane worst-of-both-worlds by being too responsive when trying to fine tune your ship's orientation, but not responsive enough when trying to make large turns, even at low speeds. Having played VTOL, I know that a proper, responsive VR joystick isn't out of the question.

Aiming controls are similarly asinine. If they are synced with your hand, they do not line up correctly with the ship controls, meaning that trying to aim straight ahead will cause your ship to veer to the side. Syncing weapon aim with your head seems to be the correct choice but is difficult to get used to. Trying to lock missiles is an incredible chore, requiring you to aim your head exactly at the target and will rapidly lock on and off.

On top of everything with the awful controls, they can't be changed on the fly, requiring entering and exiting missions repeatedly.

Sound design is awful. Lasers and missiles sound weak, and the beeping for missile lock is incessant and immediately annoying.

This game hasn't been updated since 2020 but needs huge amounts of work to make it worth its current price of $20. Call it intuition, but that ain't happening chief. The search for a decent tracked controller VR starfighter game continues...

Absolutely not. This is barely a proof of concept. A lifeless, dull, unimaginative sequence of "missions" with no pacing and a god awful flight model and controls. Plus some of the worst sound effects and sound quality I've heard. I'd explain more but that would already be more time and effort than what went into this garbage.

Don't do it, I beg you.

Realy simple no frills old skool arcade fun.

Flying with headtracking on vive the best controls i have experienced in a vr game , well done dev you nailed it!!!!.
Tracking enemy ships never been so easy.
Just started but the missions are fast paced and really exciting and i feel i have already had my monies worth with more high octane dogfights pending .

Overall a really easy to pick up title which looks very nice and has the most intuitive control system in vr try it

Is this game worth 15 dollars? Yes. Playing with Vive, navigating by looking around and shooting with the controllers. There is a button to hold for free look. Good, gentle learning curve. Just died from flying into asteroid. Would protect Jump Gate technology again.

Great game loving it with my HOTAS. But can we have a height configure? I currently have to stand up to play and i dont really want to do that

Edit:
Adding a bit to this now. Was resetting the game each time I needed to reset the seated height as it was being set on boot up. But its working great now.

One of the only VR games to cause me to get nauseous. After 20-30 minutes I lost the will to keep playing and decided to request a refund. My time in the game is limited so I can't give a full review however a thumbs down indicates I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS GAME. This isn't an indepth review just my personal recommendatoin. The little I did see in my 30 minutes of play time did not interest me at all. Combat and graphics were merely ok. Getting into a space ship, specifially in VR, should be exciting. A simple comparision would be your first minute piloting your mech in Arch Angel. I know its on rails and not a completely fair comparison but the instant you take the controls you're excited. I never felt immersed, intrigued or impressed and I feel your money might be better spent elsewhere.

For those giving me grief about the review. Motion sickness is a serious issue for some VR gamers. I however am NOT one of them. Users should be informed as they might have a sensitivity. Again I have never had another game bother me. The only game to induce the mildest of symptoms was lone echo and since I enjoyed the game I was able to battle through it and quickly adapted. While maybe I would have also adapted to End Space there was nothing compelling me to keep playing. I could have experimented with different control settings which may have alleviated my symptoms but my preference was to refund the game.

Just started playing it, got through tutorial and 2 missions... loving it so far! I really enjoy playing Space Pirate Trainer and dreamed about being able to jump in the ship that's right behind you - now that dream has come true! Looking forward to diving into this game further.

The controls are a bit weird at first but once you get used to them it can get pretty fun. Only thing that is stopping this from me playing all the time is that there needs to be different things to do instead of flying to a location or fight off AI bots.

Another thing that is stopping me from playing all the time is the lack of upgrades. Yeah you can buy better ammo and rockets but that is it.

It is a great experience and I am glad that I got it for 15 dollars. Maybe they will add more options to the game as time moves on, but til then you have yourself a pretty awesome space dog fight game!

End Space is a space combat game similar to those old Freespace ones. Its VR adaptation is by far the best I have seen in a space combat game, particularly respect to the controllers. They took the best from X Rebirth: handling the ship with arm movements on regular VR controllers and shooting by pointing with the helmet (all these is optional though). And they added up some of the throttle control from Eve Valkyrie: throttle-braking fight. The ship lacks some movements that would be good in combat, like strafe sideways/up-down, and in general, the ship seems lacking agility. Also, the speed doesn´t feel very real. Graphics are really good, and the game is very fun in general. I have tried at least 4 VR space combat games, and this is the one that brings the best combat VR experience so far. Your ship can be upgraded but I´m not sure if you get a different one as the story progresses. It also has a nice old-style single player campaign, with a continuity that I haven’t seen for a while. The story is not that interesting, but it is continuous, and it makes sense from level to level. This is not a game like X Rebirth and Elite, which IMO are more like Space simulators. IMO those are much better games, but if you are looking for a Space combat Freespace style (not Freelancer style), then you should definitely try this.

Was hoping for something along the lines of good old privateer but in VR. Instead I got a half baked arcade game. I imagine it's much better with a controller, but I will not use a controller in VR. Kind of defeats the whole purpose of VR, which is immersion.

Apart from the horrendous, jumpy as hell, control of the ship via the Vive controllers (and I've tried every possible control method, including flight by gaze/left/right joystick/thumbpad), the graphics and voice acting are passable for this price range, but the gameplay.. boy it gets repetitive quick. Go here, kill these guys, repeat. Not a lot of interactions. No different outcomes by your actions, no different paths to victory, no jumping factions or going rogue.

Only two weapons and only two upgrades per weapon. Oversimplified upgrades, combat, missions.. everything is oversimplified to a point that it looks like an indie proof of concept and not a full game. You choose the weapon upgrades from a text menu. No images of the weapons at all, let alone a proper 3D model. If you look back at your ship after upgrading weapons, it looks the same. I don't remember if they sound the same when fired but I wouldn't be surprised if they do. Not a lot of attention to detail there.

I imagine it would have been much more enjoyable if the game had some kind of a true open world feeling, a sandbox element, factions, a proper NON LINEAR storyline, with side missions, proper *non-weapons related* upgrades (say, engine, shields, etc) and a true sense of open space, where you could go anywhere, dock at will with space stations and land on planets, etc etc.

I'll keep waiting for a real rogue/privateer/freelancer equivalent game and enjoy From Other Suns, which is far from perfect but much closer to home for me.

I love a good space flight shooter and this has been the easiest one to just sit down, play, and enjoy right from the get go. Controls are intuitive regardless of your choice of input though playing on a HOTAS setup (X52 Pro) it was especially immersive with no needed tweaks which is a relief in the VR space these days.

Looks pretty. Shoots good. Worth $20 if you're a fan of the genre or are looking for an approachable entry point with modern graphics. Can't wait to dive back in!

There's a lot here that I like. VR is great. Space combat sims are great. End Space shows promise. But unfortunately, End Space has a handful of critical issues that prevent me from recommending it.

The largest issue is that, as far as I can tell, you can't die. In fact, I'm not even sure if you can fail a mission. I played about 7 or 8 missions in so far, and there doesn't seem to be any way to fail. I've tried flying directly into asteroids and other ships. I've let ships shoot me like crazy. I've let missiles hit me to no end, but death never comes. I guess this is fine if you're not looking for a challenge, but it kills the game for me. Maybe the developers will fix this in a future patch, but it's a very massive issue that reviewers don't seem to be talking about.

The second issue I'm having is with my HOTAS joystick (a Saitek X52). After some fiddling with the keybindings I got it working great. However, the game will randomly recalibrate the joystick midgame, meaning that the "center" of the joystick will change to whatever position you were holding at the time. This means that your ship will start to drift in the middle of missions. The only way I could work around this was unplugging and replugging in my HOTAS midgame... which I guess doesn't matter all that much, since you can't die. I should note that I've never experienced this issue with another game before (and I've put hundreds of hours into other games with this HOTAS joystick), so I'm positive that it's an issue with End Space.

Lastly, I could have missed it, but there doesn't seem to be any key binding for recentering the view. This is almost standard for seated VR games, so I'm surprised to not see it here. Considering the other issues I've experienced, this may be yet another oversight.

If these issues get fixed, I'll definitely come back to End Space. The game shows promise, and although it's very simple, I really did enjoy what I played. However, these bugs are simply too major for me to take the game seriously at any level. For now, I'll pursue a refund, as I feel very mislead by all of the reviews.

I can't even set up the controls for this game, the menu navigation is garbage. How am I supposed to calibrate and set controls if I have to use those controls to navigate the menus? Doesn't recognize keyboard and mouse input at all, which would make it infinitely eaasier to set all these controls.

I have two joysticks, a throttle, and pedals set up, but trying to navigate the control settings is impossible because they can all navigate the menu at the same time as well as the Vive controllers. It's a mess and after way too long trying to figure it out, I'm just returning it.

So far my favorite game as far as incorporating VR and the VR controllers into a first person flying style game. The game play is a lot of fun, my complaints would be that I found the upgrade system limited and that I ended up not being able to spend my credits on anything, would be nice to be able to buy different ships too, and it didnt have a long enough story or really feel like it had an ending. I ended up playing the last mission twice because I thought it glitched out and didnt load the next mission. Took just under 10 hours to beat and I really spent my time with everything. I would recommend the game though as I really enjoyed it overall.

This game is a thrilling experiance for those who have the stomach for it. Fans of "House of the Dying Sun" may be dissapointed that they can only control one ship, but will enjoy this brand new game to zoom around and battle enemy ships once again, and this time with the Vive controlers. The unique "head steering" mechanic may seem unusual and uncomfortable to some, but after a few levels, you may find it to be more efficient and intuitive than any console controler and even more so than the keyboard. The game may be short on levels, but more content is on the way, and you will get your standard 2 hours of content out of the existing campaign.

Crunchmeister

Excellent game with some shortcomings.

Overall, I really enjoy this game. It's a fun, fast paced arcade space shooter. The missions, while short, are clear and concise. The learning curve is fairly gentle, and it gets you into the fun right away. If you're looking for a deep, Elite: Dangerous type game, this isn't it. This is easily accessible to anyone.

Graphics are excellent for the most part. The sense of scale is awesome. This is easily the most immersive VR experience I've had so far. The ship is fun to fly, although more ship types would have been fun, particularly if there were particular types of ships required for particular missions.

The issues come up with the length of the game, ship upgrqades, and lack of a difficulty level. You get money by completing missions, and use that money for the meager ship upgrades (2 new primary weapons, 1 new missile type). You should have your ship fully upgraded by the time you hit the 8th ot 9th mission, which is right near the end of the game (12 missions). At that point, the money system becomes irrelevant as there's nothing left to spend your money on.

Replay value is limited as well. You can replay any mission in any order once unlocked. But starting over with the upgrades means you're very overpowered and will breeze through. And that leads me into my next point.

In terms of difficulty, this is a pretty easy game. Even if you suck, you should be able to go through all 12 missions in under 2 hours. It would be great to have the option to replay at a higher level of difficulty.

Overall, I really enjoyed this game and love playing it just for its immersive quality. But a few changes could take what's basically just a good, fun game into something great.

I bought this game on sale and glad I did because in its current state its not worth any more.
The twelve missions are very easy to complete in under two and a half hours of gameplay,
It needs a difficulty selection in the options in a later update, Not to mention more missions and possibly ships to fly.
I was however very impressed on the control options for my HTC Vive and tracked controllers.
I only wish the developers of Everspace had thought of that caused me to get a refund on that game.
The graphics and sound are good quality what you would expect from an arcade wave shooter.

For fighter shooting games, it's fun, and the game can be executed directly with vive control.
The shortcoming of the game is the upgrade option of the fighter. You can only buy 2 more guns and 1 type of missile. You can't upgrade the armor, attack power, and health of the fighter. There is no different fighters to choose from.

I have just started getting into this game. But basically, I think it is great! The minute I connected my JOYSTICK EXTREME 3D PRO and realized that I could use the hat and trigger to configure the controls at will and then fly with ease I fell in love. This game is very simple, but it is sheer dogfighting fun with decent graphics. I have tried games like Elite Frontier and X3, but I think there is something those developers are missing. Some people don’t want to have to study in order to be able to play a game, they want to jump in the cockpit and become Christopher Blair (Maverick from Wing Commander), an ace pilot. This game is basically a space shooter arcade with a very short storyline. But imagine if they took this flight engine and added it to an open world, does not need to be as complex as the world of Elite or even Star Citizen, just a something as simple as Freelancer (my favorite space sim ever) and you have a dream come true. I don’t care about physics, I want to trade, discover and be the ace pilot. Having said that, this game is fun and worth checking out!

If I were to keep it to simple suggestions they would be:

1. Have a carrier/base launch sequence - for example the launch in Eve is amazing
2. Have a carrier landing sequence, approach a enter a gate at the base/carrier to land.

Ichinin

A lightweight space shooter, in comparison to the likes of Elite Dangerous, but nevertheless a good one. The story i've seen so far is linear, but you can go back and redo the missions as you like and earn more money to upgrade your ships.

The controlls are easy, control pitch, yaw and roll with your head and fire with a controller. You'll pick this up quickly during a tutorial, and off you go to shoot up enemies. I sincerely wish that Elite had option for the same controls as i have flown like this in another VR flyer (AirDrift) which made the whole flying thing quite natural.

The game reminds me a bit about Wing Commander in the sense that you are dropped into a combat zone, shoot stuff, then you move on. I'd say that if you like space shooters, don't wait around for it to appear on a sale, it's a good game and unlike so many other VR games that are only tech-demos, i don't regret buying it. I'd say that this is at least a 3/5.

Played using Vive pro. I was really hoping to find a VR space game with the same controls as vox machinae (in the vox machinae cockpit you have virtual hands and arms that move when you move and you grip the controls and move them to use them, basically what you would do in real life only in virtual reality) In End Space your arms and hands are glued in place, if you want to use the vive controler as a flight stick your hand is glued to it and you can not move your hand at all without moving the ship, I found this restriction very annoying given what I was looking for. I also could not fire missiles during the training and having to quit to see the control overlay was annoying, still could not fire them after quiting to see the control overlay and re launching a few times. Was not convinced by the narrating. I hate tutorials that say "fly over there" but don't tell you how, they just leave you hanging, having to then quit to view the control overlay to find out how i fly over there is annoying. Unfortuanley the negatives were too much for me after 22mins I quit and asked for refund on the £5 I paid.

review in english and french
i was searching a game VR where the weapons would be shown on the ship and with the sensation to fly on a spatial ship and i found End space and it is the game i was waiting i recommend a lot

End space is a space shooting game vr and possible to play in non vr
before to speak of all parts i love ,let s begin by my disapointed part
my only disapointed is we can not choose a genre of pilot and only one pilot is available but i keep hope we will can have the choice to increase the immersion in this wonder
now about parts i loved :
first the design are wonderfull in vr and we can see the weapons from the windows of our ship and it is incredible ,finish the hidden weapons and the laser out from nowhere in front of our ship now we are for real in a space ship with weapons , the weapons are amazing and the cockpit is really great worked as well we have really the impression to be in a space ship
the flying is great worked and i have never feel motion sickness
the space is wonderfull , the vr is not blurry and really great worked
and the stages and missions are various and wonderfull and the special effects are incredible as well
and the sound is great as well
i enjoy every second i play to this game , if you like space shoot it would be unfortunate to not have this wonder in your
games
and when i learned the developper of this game are only two brothers i fell of my chair since the result is so incredible i thought there were a big team around this game creation ,and in the credits we can see it is a little team but this game proves a little team can create wonder in vr
and in more they answer to the communauty and listen
for me it is a 9,8 on 10 and it is just because i need to have a body wich looks like more to me to can have the best immersion possible even if the design of the woman pilot body we play stay great worked
in my eyes it stay one of the best space shooting Game and vr game

I can't even play this game; it's uncontrollable. Why is the mouse set-up so that when you move the mouse, it permanently increases yaw or pitch until you re-center it? Why can't I use my keyboard instead? Why does my joystick set left and right to roll, but no yaw? The controller set-up excludes me from re-setting, this makes no sense to me. I'd like to give a good review, but I can't get past the tutorial.

A pretty good game, the graphics, scenery and voice acting are very good, giving you a true sense of sci-fi straight away. Unfortunately it is still quite short at this point in time, so there is not much gameplay for the price it is. It is not always obvious when you are being hit and there is no option to fix on to one opponent, meaning when they go out of your view you have to find them manually. Overall, a fun game, recommended if you like the space fighter genre. Hopefully there will be more content in the future.

If this game would be adjusted to be little less arcade and little more simulator it would be really good great. Don't expect any depth, but if you want just shoot enemies in space, this game delivers

+ no motion sickness. I have usually problem with motion sickness in VR, but surprisingly not with this game. I don't know what magic the devs used but it definitely works
+ works great with HOTAS. At least with my X52 I could jump into action without any painful setup process. The game detected all my connected controllers and I was able to use any of them. Really well done
+ supports lots of control schemes, from HOTAS or Xbox controller to head steering or head aiming
+ nice graphics, when you first see interior of your ship and surrounding space its got the wow effect
+ targeting is well done, crosshair is unfortunately very simple, but the missile lock looks good. There is leading indicator on enemies

- game is too much arcade and too little simulator, missions start in open space and ends by warping out. No hangar docking, no wingman commands, no strategic aspects of missions. I would compare it to even more simplified Endspace
- while the explosions look good and there are several ways how the enemies blows up and disintegrate, the actual disintegration of enemy ship is poorly done, the enemy ships just splits into several parts that fly away

Gameplay: 5/10
Story: 6/10
Graphics: 8/10
Performance: 7/10

Overall: 6/10

End Space is a tiny arcade combat space sim that was at one point exclusively a VR title. I must highlight the emphasis on "combat space sim", as the game is mission based. No exploration, no trading and you are limited to a single starfighter that can be upgraded with credits earned from missions. On top of that, the game is relatively simplistic and features a total of only 12 missions. Most missions amount to varying degrees of "destroy all enemies" or "protect this target" and lack any alternative objectives or parameters. If you fail to protect the target or kill all the enemies then it's mission failed. Because of the linear nature of the game, I can't see myself ever going through multiple playthroughs. As you can imagine, being limited to only 12 missions, the game's story is relatively dull and ends just when it's getting interesting.

In terms of graphics, End Space looks decent, and I imagine it would look amazing under a VR headset. I neglected to use my own headset, but the game does have some stunning visuals at some points. Sound design is "meh" though. The game features a very generic futuristic soundtrack and the starship propulsion and weapon's systems could use a bit more "oof", if you catch my drift.

Performance was also very good, but this shouldn't come as a surprise for a title that was originally slated exclusively for VR. Many people have had issues with connecting their HOTAs, but I didn't experience any such problems. I was able to connect my Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 and my Thrustmaster TWCS throttle without issue. Although, it did take a bit of finagling to figure out. Also, I encountered several bugs in the game in relation to the physics engine. For example, one of the enemy capital ships was literally pelted through space a good distance away after I had destroyed the twin capital ship accompanying her. I assume that this happened because the ship I destroyed "pushed" the other one, but because of the wonky physics engine, capital ships have about the same mass as a regular fighter. It was funny the first time it happened, but not so funny having to chase it down after being slingshot.

Overall, the game is okay. But the price point is just too much. I completed the game in 4 hours time. With only 12 missions, it's just not worth the asking price of $19.99 USD. You could get Elite Dangerous or No Man's Sky for $10 more and play those games for days with the amount of depth they possess. I'm not saying that End Space is a bad game, but that it's not worth it at the full price. I only recommend buying it on sale and even then, End Space is probably only worth it if you have a VR headset. Even though the game can be played without a headset, there are much better titles available.

Good spaceship game for a fair price (Steam Autumn Sale 2020).

No VR, using mouse and keyboard; no technical issues for me.

Played with an x52 pro. 1st game ive ever played that automatically detected and mapped the hotas!

Granted, this game is a lot simpler than most space sims, but its very enjoyable. Certainly the easiest one to jump right into it.

There are a series of single player campaign missions that take about 2hrs to finish.

Ive played a bunch of games with space fights, like no mans sky, elite dangerous, squadrons, overload, house of the dying sun, everspace... and honestly this is the most "streamlined" space shooter of them all.

It was honestly a pleasure to, run the game, recenter the sitting position, and start playing without needing to setup the mappings of the controller (i did see them, but everything was on point and there arent that many buttons)

The game itself its pretty simple and missions are usually "destroy everyone", after scanning a container, or escorting a ship or reaching a destination. And honestly its all that i wanted!

But it does have some issues, it needs more audio sfx, like, im getting destoyed and its all just so... quiet. no fuzzing or electronics going haywire... Enemies distance is somewhat hard to measure. and the skymap is "noticeable" as in it looks lower res or something. Also some explosions (mainly big ships) look a bit meh...

I got it on the winter sale with a hefty discount and i have to say, im not regretting my purchase one bit. Its fast to get into, granted it probably its a 1time playthrough game, but its the space shooter im going to show to people that cant handle the complexity of other games.

There is only like ten small missions. Story just started to pick up and get interesting but now says to be continued. Where is the rest of the game?

I really did like the head tracking in VR. Makes for a very comfy VR flight experience and one I often have friends play to try out some VR flying without worry as much about motion sickness form what I've seen so far.

I does have a chill arcade feel and I have enjoyed my time with it. Hope they do a little more in the future on it.

This look like an awesome game. I have always used an inverted look on my mouse due the first flight sims i played with a joystiick (pull back to cliimb, push forward to dive). I really need the ability to invert the mouse look and cannot give a positive review until this is addressed. First game I've seen where this is a problem. Please fiix!

At the time of writing the 70% discount brings it into the realms of a reasonable cost/value proposition. The ship handling is not the best, the porting to non VR is an afterthought. However it is basic in a pleasant way, and there is some fun to be had. Graphically it is good enough, and it is playable with a keyboard and mouse.

There are much better space combat games out there, but if you are desperate for a new one to blast through you could do much worse.

But seriously go and play Freespace 2 with mods instead.

I like this game. I don't see 'alpha' or 'early access' anywhere and it really should be cuz this games not done. there are all of 2 or 3 ship types, and as others have mentioned, only 13 missions.I'm not even sure the credits system is working as there doesn't seem to be any stats listed anywhere and i can't buy anything yet. Also, I'm not sure i'd spend $20 on this with so little content. I bought it on sale.
On a side note to the devs, it would be cool to see this go in the direction of military sci-fi like Wing Commander.
