Fantastic key sounded rhythm game, supports ASIO, base song selection is a bit old school but you can sort by date, DLC content is amazing and much worth the money.

My deepest gratitude to the EZ2ON team.

I've been having a lot of fun with the game, considering I don't really visit the Online PVP modes too much.

I recommend it with the caveat that, like a lot of games on steam with online play, it has always-online DRM, so if the idea of an online game closing its servers & possibly making this game unplayable is concerning to you, don't invest in it until there's some official word on support patches for the future.

Too many DLC can't make enjoying play to be better.

One of the more definitive rhythm game experiences on Steam.
Great selection of music, keysounded, charts for keyboard - all the stuff that BMSes have, without the hassle of having to setup some archaic software to play them (and you don't have to search and skim through packs of songs, everything's already here).

The other similar game that starts with DJ and ends with MAX has one big disadvantage when compared to this: charts are made with a playstation controller in mind (other than few new difficulties, but they're still kinda rare). Meanwhile, this one was born on PC, so there's more pattern combinations.

Worth to mention, it also works really well on Linux.

Very nice presentation of what VSRG should be. Customizable and user-friendly. But, there is something that I can't quite sure what I'm experiencing when playing in-game, maybe something missing of a feature that o2 has but ez2on doesn't. Overall, fun game + the soundtracks are nice and enjoyable to listen.

One of the best rhythm games you can have on the PC as of right now. The base game has plentiful of songs for what you pay for. Also, the music list is very varied in genres, which is good because most rhythm games try to mostly use Electronic/EDM like music. The game having 2 modes that both appeal to the casual and competitive players is also a very big plus. The DLC is also very great additions to the game, as the Time Traveler and Prestige Pass packs are honestly must buys due to the packs having great music in my opinion. Honestly I cant recommend this game enough. 9/10

I'm pretty sure I prefer EZ2ON Reboot R over DJMax. While I have great love for DJ Max, EZ2ON has charts made for keyboard, which I prefer over playing keyboard in DJMax or playing with a controller. The soundtrack also has more hardcore EDM, but it's also got old-school tunes. It's just an all around great game. All that DLC is expensive though.

Great for game for vsrg fans / enthusiasts.

Each song comes with four difficulties of 4k, 5k, 6k, and 8k with animated backgrounds. The difficulties range from pretty easy to stupidly hard so there is something for everyone. All charts use key sounds that match the music so everything feels deliberate and accurate.

The timing windows are pretty tight (~20ms for best judgement) but there is an easier mode with looser timing. The accuracy system on standard mode is quite harsh compared to other vsrgs like osu!mania or djmax respect v.

The songs in the base game are pop, hip-hop, funk, and electronic from previous ez2 games in the 2000s. There are some familiar songs from bms and other rhythm games but most of them are in paid dlcs.

The multiplayer is pretty chill; the leader chooses songs and you can pick any key mode and difficulty you want. Since the game is most popular in Korea, there aren't many players on multiplayer if you play at night in the US.

The only downside to this game is you can't play offline. If you lose your internet while playing, the game won't save your score and quit to desktop.

If you like other vsrgs and want more, this game is for you.

Ez2on is more rhythm gaming action
with tight feedback , tight gameplay and tight always online DRM.

But yeah highly recommended, very enjoyable and overall very satisfying to play, improve.

it's got remastered classics, regular classics, new songs from the arcade series (EZ2AC / EZ2DJ), and it works very well. it's so nice to see remastered classics, as well as songs from other rhythm games such as Air, Messier 333, and so on. it's great, what else is there to say? as of writing this, with all DLC together, there's 325 songs. dude, that's crazy. yeah it's expensive, but come on, look at the value you're getting! look at how much music there is! no more playing the same songs over and over, the variety is insane. i love seeing the classics back when the game was only available in korea are now available worldwide. i highly recommend this and all the DLC.

my favorite part is that it supports NVIDIA Reflex + Boost. you actually notice a huge difference not just in input delay, but smoothness. now that i'm used to it, i can see the notes lagging in other rhythm games like osu!mania.

The music isn't as good as DJMax, but at least the charts are for keyboard. DJMax Respect V was kind of a lazy port, as nothing but the SC charts are meant for keyboards. Since this game is still in open testing, I can't really complain about the lack of features/modes such as online play and missions. All I can say is that I was thoroughly disappointed in how monotonous DJMax was to play with a keyboard - as all of the charts are built for a PS4 controller - but I'm really enjoying this game a lot more.

Think of it as an investment. This game is just amazing. You get to play all the songs from the old arcade machine and also new ones. (stay / minus space mix / etc)

They usually add songs / improvements every 2 weeks.
So far, they revamped some songs and the game client for free.
Each time you log in to play you'll probably see something new which makes the initial investment be worth it.

Buy it!

This is my favorite commercial rhythm game so far! The song selection is massive with over 100 songs to choose from, and with updates adding even more song into the game. With such a large selection and variety, you're sure to find a track you enjoy!

The game also offers multiple keymodes, with 4, 5, 6 and 8key modes being available, though 8key mode is unfinished as of writing this review, though those are being added with updates. However, the difficulty might be quite high for a casual rhythm gamer, as the timing windows are rather strict, but still fair. It's a lot of fun one you get into the groove!

The performance is great with no lag or synchronization issues. Button presses feel precise and tactile, especially with every note producing a fitting sound to go along with the song. Controller support is pretty good, though as of time of writing this review it's impossible to change button bindings for menus.

One thing of note is that the game has always online DRM, which means you won't be able to play the game offline. This is the only real negative thing i can say about this game. If you're okay with always online DRM, and want to play a really good rhythm game, then I strongly recommend getting this one!

It's accessible enough as a rhythm game and it has over 100+ songs as of this date (and more added per update), so content-wise it's spot on. It's likely to have dlcs after the game leaves Early Access with songs and eventually have a new free song every few updates.

You press a key corresponding the notes in your screen at the specific time/interval and that's it, like with DJMAX and one of OSU's modes. There are four difficulty modes for most songs (and at least three for every song), so it should be accessible for every skill level. You can also change the note speed to your liking too (the power of magic still keeps the song at the same speed though, don't worry).

Be wary that this game is more precise with the key input than games like DJMAX (but less so than OSU), and that it's way more punishing in discounting points per mistake. Getting a low rank is normal and often understandably frustrating. It's awfully vague in telling you what you did wrong - I wish it told me the accuracy I had with the note instead of giving "KOOL" as a feedback. These issues can range from mildly inconvenience to high frustration depending on the player's tolerance to failure and trial and error.

Didn't try multiplayer yet, but it's also a thing.

So yeah, I recommend this game to beginners who are patient enough to get low ranks in the beginning, or amateurs from other rhythm games (preferably DJMAX or OSU since they play similarly). It's fun, but frustrating and it depends on each person's tolerance level for failure and slow improvement.

I'm happy I waited a few months until getting the game.
I was a Ez2On player back in the 2000s and it was exciting to play my favourite songs again! There's tons of songs and the game runs smoothly.
If you are new to the series, give this a try. I do also believe that I'm enjoying the game only because I used to play it years ago. New players might feel like there's not much to the game or that the songs are a bit outdated, but I can assure you there's tons of hours to play and enjoy!

Very great work developing this version of the game. I miss the arcade so much and this is a great example of how to provide a comparable experience on PC.
Customization is really present now and very well organized, nice work.
Also GUI and it's sounds are next level.
Performance is really smooth and definitely noticed an improvement in my gameplay exclusively because of that.

Thanks for this experience and keep up with the updates!

i read some real horror stories about the state of this game and its servers at launch, but i can safely say it's Very Good now. tons of songs available, tons of charts available for said songs, and the charts are actually designed for keyboard and feel challenging and fun to play (lookin at u, djmax).

here's hoping this game continues to EVOLVE over time. i'd love to see more DLC packs with songs from previous games, and even collabs.

Best non-subscription based Bemani style game you can play without jumping through any hoops. Awesome tracks new and old for the most part. If you love vertical-scroll rhythm games, *absolutely get this.* 254 songs and that's JUST the base game without the DLC (everything from 20 years of EZ2DJ classics to new songs to BMS licenses), lots of modern quality-of-life touches like timing offset, early/late indicator, replays, and even adjustable/repositionable UI elements, four different key style modes, and *no unlocking required* for any of that content (you can go straight into 8-key level 20 SHD charts right out of the gate if you really want to).

I recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of rhythm games. This is my introduction to the world of EZ2DJ/EZ2ON and it's fantastic, there are so many songs and each of them is key-sounded (each note you hit plays a part of the song itself). The game runs well, and I'm excited for each further update.

EZ2ON: Reboot R is a great rhythm game. Initially I bought then refunded the game as I saw it as a mess. I thought the game had wonky judgement and the tracks were of lower quality compared to DJMAX Respect V. After playing the game for a bit more it started to grow on me. The older tracks give me nostalgia when playing and it is charted well without any meaningless added notes that adds increased difficulty to that track.

The customization is great as well, allowing you to change the note skin, judgement animation, note hit animation, panel skin, track skin. There is so many combinations to choose from.

The amount of songs in the base game is greater than DJMAX Respect V, which is great since I like to play a large amount of quality songs.

PROS:
- Large base track list
- Customization
- Many game modes
- Patterns you would normally see on Maximum and SC difficulty in DJMAX Respect V are on the lower end of difficulty in this game.
- NO SIDE TRACKS!

CONS:
- This game is more accuracy based, so even if you are doing 99% on maximum 4B songs on DJMAX it is nearly equivalent to all COOL in this game. This may be discouraging at first.
- UI to me is cluttered together especially when doing customization as well.

After some more time of playing the game I will update it againn as well.

As a beatmania IIDX player, this game makes me feel right at home. with ASIO audio, it really feels as tight as IIDX. obviously it is a lot less polished and has its glitches and stuff, but the core gameplay is very solid and very old school. the songlist is also stellar (and again very old school, which i love).. you'll recognize artists and songs from BMS, Arcaea, DJMax etc. as well as a lot of tracks you probably haven't heard yet.

-The timing window is very tight in this game, and the songs get extremely hard. You will definitely get better at rhythm games if you get good at this game.

-If you are a player of IIDX, SDVX etc., you can use your controller in a way that feels good (as opposed to DJMax which feels a bit out of sync). 5 key in particular feels great on a IIDX controller and makes me feel like im at an arcade in the 90s.

All in all, this is definitely the best rhythm game on steam. I'd def buy it if I were you.

This game is amazing. I kinda want to wait how this game turns out before writing an early review, and yes it was worth the wait. This game has a really good developer, they're improving the game very quickly, adding so many features, fixing many bugs, and even adding a new chart or fixed the chart based on feedback! I am very impressed how the game improved, and enjoyed it even tho I kinda play it rarely. It surprises me every time I want to check the game because so many features implemented in such a relatively short time. There is a downside for casual players because this game is REALLY hard. But I think the devs know and even implemented a Basic mode! I don't know what to say anymore other than this game is really good with amazing devs.

This game had a really rocky launch as the mass amount of negative reviews early in its life clearly shows. But clearly, the experience people had at launch is very much difference from the experience I got when I bought the game about a month ago.

The development team appear to be highly dedicated to keeping the game in tip-top shape and I've experienced zero bugs, crashes or issues as a whole as a new player. The experience as a whole felt very polished and well-made and while I can't say launching a game in such a state was a good idea, I think now with the official launch coming up the game is ready to leave Early Access.

The song-list of around 200 songs is mostly filled with older music. Now, depending on your tastes, this may be a reason NOT to play this game. Most of the songs from 1st to 2011 definitely have that "old-school" vibe which doesn't resonate well with certain players, but personally I get a kick outta the oldies but goodies the game has. New songs from other games as well as some original tunes have slowly increased the amount of "new" music to enjoy and the future DLC (as well as the current TT DLC) also is helping with filling this side of new content.

The game-play of standard mode is quite harsh if you are a novice at rhythm games- it's probably one of the tightest timing windows in any modern game of note. Basic Mode (which personally I don't play at all) seems to help bridge this gap so new players can enjoy an easier window and experience overall. The chart quality is quite solid too and they update patterns with decent frequency which can be annoying if you set a sick score and then it's gone when they change it, but I doubt once they leave EA that this will re-occur.

Multiplayer works really well too- works similarly to DJMAX RESPECT V in that regard but without any competitive ladder (which to be frank, nobody really plays that in DJMAX anyways...)

Honestly? Really happy with this game. It's definitely gotten out of it's ugly launch phase and is now quite a solid release if you want a traditional rhythm game with over 20 years of content and more to experience. Definitely worth grabbing- especially on steam sales (I know some people aren't big fans of the $45 price tag, I think it's well justified for the number of starting songs and extra features included, like ASIO audio, which I don't think any other steam rhythm game has, crazy!)

FETTA
FETTA

Alright, first off.

This is a rhythm game ass rhythm game. If you're into djmax, you'll feel right at home here,
difficulty is nice on normal, good combo of constant motion and feeling the beat, songs are mapped well, and timing is tight.

Unfortunately, if you're not someone who grew up with these songs, there are some stinkers in here. Complete nonsense noise made purely for simulated difficulty. It's not a song, it's a finger workout type stuff.

But it's one of two options on steam if you're looking for a decent PC arcade style rhythm game. I'd say wait for a sale.

Honestly can't recommend for now, between not even being able to launch due to whatever server issues they're having, and half the songs just not loading for no reason. If they fix their atrocious servers that at least a large portion. Probably 4 of my 6 hours were spent in menus trying to brute force my way to playing anything

EDIT: Even after the new update saying servers were upgraded, I'm still having the same connection issues. However, when I turn my VPN on, it works just fine. For the time being I'm still leaving negative as if this is a requirement for consistent play, that's still not good. This is the only game in my library with such a strange issue

EDIT 2: After 40+ hours, it's still really fun, feeling improvement on a game like this is fantastic, but my above connection issue still persists. I can't see any blocked traffic from my computer, checked with my provider, and they don't know why I wouldn't be able to connect here off VPN either

So excellent. As a DJMAX shill I have to say EZ2ON is different but equally fantastic. Below is my comparison between the two games.

DJMAX showcases best in class BGAs and I doubt anything is going to top them. EZ2ON, at times, has horrendous BGAs -- this is especially true for the 1st & 2nd installments of the game, where some BGAs are so ugly, so distracting, so physically unpleasant to be on the receiving end of, that I will literally never play those songs again just because of the BGA. However, in the later installments and especially the brand new stuff, the BGA quality is significantly better.

Both games feature high quality keysounds, which is a deal breaker for some, with fans on either side of the fence. IMO a rhythm game without keysounds is hardly a rhythm game at all.

The music in EZ2ON is DIFFERENT, but NOT worse than DJMAX. Again, the earlier installments are mostly inferior to the rest of the game. I mistakenly compared EZ2ON to DJMAX after playing mostly only EZ2ON's earliest tracks and actually straight up refunded the game. They are, for the most part, that bad. Thing is, once you begin to look at the earlier games as icing on the cake, instead of the main course, then you begin to see that EZ2ON is banger after banger. You get SO MANY songs with this game and I like so many of the tracks that I just had to stop "hearting" them because it was becoming pointless. The music in EZ2ON can best be described as less weeb-y than DJMAX and more like the types of tracks you hear in DDR or Beatmania IIDX. EZ2ON doesn't have super silly or super cute stuff, and more closely resembles music many people may *actually* listen to IRL. Not a dig at DJMAX, I definitely still prefer its soundtrack, but EZ2ON for sure holds its own.

Probably the best thing, to me, about EZ2ON is that it feels more responsive and accurate than DJMAX ever does. You can't get away with cheesing tracks by button mashing nearly as well in EZ2ON. The judgement system is also stricter in EZ2ON but it's not as hard to appreciate as you may think because, thanks to the improved tightness in controls, the judgements feel accurate and fair. I had to turn off the "Early" and "Late" indicators, though, because seeing that for virtually every single button press was excessive.

Lastly, if you're a DJMAX veteran then there's one thing that is just SO, SO great about EZ2ON, and that's the mapping of the tracks. Because DJMAX was made with consoles in mind, all of the charting can become pretty gimmicky after a while, this is especially true at the higher difficulties. Nothing shows this more than the transition from MAXIMUM to SC in DJMAX. Not only do the songs reach their most difficult form at SC, but they also introduce tons of chords and button combinations that you had never seen before. This makes the jump from MAXIMUM to SC very unfun. There isn't a reasonable way of practicing all of the new chords and patterns because they only show up at the highest difficulty. It's a major L the way DJMAX only charted songs with keyboards in mind once you reach the PC exclusive SC difficulty. In EZ2ON, this is not the case. All patterns and chords assume you are on a keyboard, right from the very beginning. This means you can practice and learn all of the new patterns at the lowest skill level, without immediately failing the song. This also means that players coming from DJMAX should expect to begin at a lower skill level than usual, just so as to get used to all of the new patterns. Once you DO get good at them, they feel incredibly satisfying.

Overall, neither game is better than the other and I think they both belong in every rhythm game fan's library. Don't sleep on this game!

An excellent collection of the ez2 series. Essentially DJMAX Respect for ez2, My favourite feature is probably that the 8key mode has fully segmented lanes which make it much easier to read and learn IMO.

If you have any interest in classic vertical scrollers such as IIDX, BMS, DJMAX, o2 heavily recommended ^^

Strongly recommended if you've played DJmax series but haven't tried this one. Played the base game for 2 day and gladly bought all 3 track dlcs.

Pros:

Every key has corresponding sound when press in most track. You feel like actually playing the song, rather than pushing buttons along with music. It's so smooth that you can play the key-sounded part without paying attention to the drop note. Some of the oldest songs in DJmax has the same gimmick but sadly they dropped it for a long time.
Early and Late notifier, you can tell which part you failed and improve better.
Key judgement aren't tied with fps.
8-Key mode actually have separated 8 lane, instead of the lame L/R side.
Most song have 4 difficulty chart , with 4b,5b,6b and 8b mode to choose from. Around difficult 14 is my limit, but i can feel most charts are carefully crafted.
Detailed settings for graphic and sound, e.g. sound buffer time, Nvidia boost, etc.
Personal favor one, but less vocal and more Instrumental only tracks. A lot of recent DJmax tracks have Vocal and i hate it. Also the music style in ez2on are more close to earlier DJmax, which i liked most.

Cons:

Some of the older tracks are awful. A few recent(2021,TT) tracks aren't even music, Composer just smashed some noise together and called it a song. Fortunately only a tiny portion are this bad.
Most BGA are bland and simple, but i rather dev spend money on songs so it isn't really a con for me.
DLCs songs are a bit too long, my hands hurt after a few run. If i got tendinitis i would blame this game.

This one isn't pro or con, ez2on have a tighter Key Judgement indeed, but thanks to key-note sound it isn't actually this bad, just a few songs and you'll adapt to it.
Game's worth it even with full price tag, try it out if you're rhythm game fan.

A music game truly satisfies every true music gamer!
Now equipped with ASIO output, it achieved incredible low audio latency, unrivaled to any commercial music game in market.
I have to say Unity is really a bad choice for making music games, lot of incredibly good made music games left with regrets because of Unity, like Cy---, DJ---, De--- etc... Audio latency, micro stuttering, input lag... all doomed those nearly perfect games.
But all of these are not exist in this game! You can dive deep into the game without anything bugging you from enjoying it.
Good job Square Pixels, they really care about players!

This gamer is honestly really great for anyone who would like a music game somewhat in the style of DJMAX.

CON: If you are like me, and you like to play the game with an arcade style controller- there is no officially supported method but mapping the buttons is easy enough for any layout that you would like. Unfortunately with most controllers you will see considerable lag when using a turntable

That said PLEASE ADD TURNTABLE SUPPORT BECAUSE THEN IT WOULD BE PERFECT.

Long story Short:If you like rhythm games its worth a purchase.

I never played this game till it came out on steam so no nostalgia or fond memories of the good old days here. If you are in love with DJMAX this game may feel a little dated to you. If you think DJMAX is easy, welcome home my friend. The judgement in this game is much stricter than DJMAX. Have fun my music game fam.

Feels tight. Crazy amount of tracks. Actually helping me improve at other rhythm games quite a lot. Options of play that're great for beginners.

Early Access: I spent ____ $ for this???? :(

Halfway through its current lifespan: Not bad, considering I spent for ____$ for this.

Now: I spent ____$ for this. :D

I mainly use this game to train my fifth digit finger. They have more songs out of the box compared to DJMAX and I haven't had any issues with the loading times so far.

The game has a tighter judgement timing compared to other rhythm games on standard. I think basic mode the timing is a little looser and similar to other games. If you want to build your accuracy up I would playing this game on standard mode. This game is a little more hardcore in terms of grading. You will have to get used to the accuracy percentage and it's always something you can work on. Once you get your accuracy up other rhythm games will feel like a breeze.

A refreshing change of pace from DJMAX, if you're looking for something the same yet different.
Another long-running note-fall game series from Korea, revived with love, and with plenty of customization options to get things looking and feeling *just* right. Recent infusions of well-known songs/artists from other series will pull you in, while the EZ2 originals will surprise you.

(Also, use the circle notes! It's the classic way!)

This game is well put together, well polished, and has a surprising amount of content in the base game. I think DJMAX holds its own on song choice, but their DLC is significantly pricier and you're going to pay an arm and a leg to complete your collection.

The judgement windows on standard mode are brutal - going back to any other game I'm surprised when they consider notes excellent that I'm sure were way off. Not a bad thing, but they do have Basic mode for more forgiving timing (and what appears to be some sort of hp regen or infinite hp). Basic has a totally separate leaderboard from Standard.

I love rhythm games to death and dream of one day getting a bunch of actual cabinets. In the mean time, though, this is definitely an option I can stand behind on Steam.

The game has changed so much since the initial early access launch that the "most helpful" English review atm isn't really helpful anymore since it doesn't really reflect the current state of the game.

This game now has basic mode with less tighter judge, a multiplayer mode where each person can play their own keymode and difficulty, and even NVIDIA Reflex support.

And most importantly, the game works properly now.

Really needs a disclaimer for its "always online" BS. If other games can provide it, there's no reason why this game shouldn't. Its misleading and there's no reason for a game that has a single player mode to have be always online. Just require me to connect to the internet if I need to run a ranked game or something.

Love the chart list, classic EZ2AC goodness
Gameplay is smooth AF

I hate that you need to connect every time you play a song, just why? Make it connect once and then connect at the result screen. Unnecessarily adding loading time into the mix.

What's up with rhythm game dev using always online drm these days.

Imagine Beatmania IIDX got ported to the PC with Djmax control and look, this is pretty much it. Also this game literally was a Beatmania 3 clone in the korean arcades so there will be some music that came straight out of the 90s to mid 2000s

Buy it if you want some high skill ceiling rhythm game

Don't get me wrong, the game is good. the amount of customization and settings are nice and up to the standard. However, one of the most noticeable difference between DJMAX Respect V and this for me, is the style of the song selection. Most of the songs in EZ2ON Reboot:R so far are pretty old school, maybe from the early 2000s era. (Future DLCs might change this, but don't take my words for it) Going through all the preview from the selection, none really caught my attention and triggered my motivation to play.(I bought all DLCs released up to the time of this review) If nostalgia is what you are looking for, buy this by all means. Otherwise, go for DJMAX Respect V.
