Yes, yes, its "the good Fallout" game. You've got your Mad Max wasteland, oldies Americana, difficulty spikes, and neat post-apocalyptic cities.

The difference here is the story. Its actually interesting and contains well-written characters with a player-driven narrative. It does a good job of capturing that "Morrowind" flow without being an insufferable experience to slog through. In fact, its quite pleasant.

Yes, you'll have spooky corridors and tense firefights, but most of the time you'll be cautiously strolling through a hostile land while managing stats and inventory.

If you enjoy other fallout games, then it might be time to actually play a good one.

An all time classic, runs really well on pc, and doesnt require anything crazy performance-wise. I would recommend it to anyone.

I was going to recommend this game until my audio stopped working I don’t know if it’s a Linux problem or a proton problem or whatever I’ve tried everything even reinstalling the game. I’ve also tried different versions of proton none of them work putting in headphones doesn’t work either. So yes I would recommend this game but I recommend you don’t play it on a steam deck. at least not until the problem is resolved assuming anyone else has ran into this problem.

Good storyline, the guns/armour/equipment are more realistic or are just straight up more awesome than the newer ones. The desert look of the map really fulfills my idea of a wasteland which is neat. The crafting system is more complicated than the newer games but it's more realistic and not too bad once you get the hang of it. Ammo is the most complicated in my opinion. I wish I could sprint but if anyone has issues with that I think there's mods that add that feature. Everything else is pretty top notch and it's the best one in my opinion due to game mechanics. I hope Obsidian comes out with another fallout game because they made this one and the game mechanics are better than 3.

viva new vegas.
this game is pretty old and feels janky but the story and story telling stands up for itself and there is a reason people swear by this game

Overall, the game is very nice! Although I came across many crashes that I have yet to fix, the game-play is almost nostalgic for me! The story is nice and I enjoy the different choices and how much stuff you can do! I only just got to the strip in my first play-through maybe two hours ago. There's so much content, and side quests! It makes me happy to see all the story the game is jammed full of! The factions are interesting to and, I have some plans for my play through! It seems to be a game you can replay over and over! I look forward to finishing all of the DLC content and the game!

This game is just awesome. There is nothing like roaming the Mojave listening to "Jingle, jangle, jingle". It is the best, if not one of the best fallout games that there is. It's only flaw is that it is a bit buggy (So save often!). For those that have an unfavorable opinion of this game...may the storm of the divide skin you alive.

A true masterpiece of a game. Fallout New Vegas takes players on an infinite amount of adventures to journey across the wasteland of Southwestern America. This is by far Fallout at it's best, and the fans deserve more Fallout games that can hope to achieve New Vegas' level of caliber.

I was drowning in lake Mead and taking HP loss, so i popped open a fresh bottle of water and was saved!
Meanwhile the IRL Lake Mead has less water than this post apocalyptic version. 10/10 Unplayable.

Watch out for Easy Pete... I hear he's a mite obsessed with explosives. A dyno-mite.

With the pun outta the way, anyone who says this isn't the best fallout game hasn't spent enough time learning and experiencing this masterpiece. You can mod it to look better than Fallout 4, Fallout 76 and Fallout 3 combined, and it already plays like Fallout 3 but better anyways. No bugs like 4 and 76, no hassle to get running like 3, and it's the latest Obsidian Fallout game, the last game made by the original creators. I dare you to play this game 1 time through the main questline and tell me you didn't enjoy it more than Moira enjoys making you suffer for her stupid survival guide! 600 rads my ass.

Greatest game I've ever played in my life. JSawyer is a golden god. Nuance, choice, roleplaying, personal character development, moral questions, deep beliefs and believable characters. all there. Great perks, items, armor, weapons. You can be whatever you want. Top it all off with the best series of DLC I've ever experience (Shivering Isles notwithstanding) and you have the greatest RPG ever made. If you haven't played this game, you're missing out, big time. Occasional glitches? sure. Glitchy enough to earn the over the top criticism? Not even remotely. Play this game.

OH BOY, this game was fun to complete 100 % achievements. I wish more RPG would be more like this where instead of offering a big map, offered some nice game-play mechanics and even if you have a small sized map, each element in it would affect the other instead of useless buildings with no or boring story attach to it.

If there are words to describe this game story are, a masterpiece.

what can I say that haven't been said before, despite the short development time Obsidian had they created one if not the best RPG of all times, the amount of freedom of choice you have on this game, is something I have seen replicated again.

Story:

You are a courier transporting a very special chip, then you get ambushed and shot in the head by someone, and after a miraculous recovery, you are on a path to find out who shot you and why, how to do it, well that's up to you.

This is the strongest part on this game, every thing you do on this game have a consequence, the moment you step outside Doc. MItchell house, you are free to decide how to progress into the game, you can be a kind soul helping people along your way to new vegas, or a vengeful person, killing anyone displeasing to your eyes, help someone and they kill it after you are done with it, is up to you, not a single person is essential to the story beside you, is your story and it will end the way you want.

Gameplay:

Well this is an old game, so the gunplay is quite outdate and kinda jank, but is servisiable, you have completely freedom on choosing how to specialise your curier, the "S.P.E.C.I.A.L" stats are a iconic mechanic in any fallout game, but beside that there are skill points that you gain every level, from getting better at opening locks to hack computers to get better at repair your gear more effectively, and perks that you gain one every two levels, perks can add special passive effects like being able to intimidate enemies or make your energy weapons create a chain explosion when killing opponets, these are linked to your skill points, the higher your focus on specific skill, the more perk related to that skill will be able to obtain.

Graphics:

Well, not the best even for the time, but thats why mods exist, so dont be a fraid of using them, the Mojave is a very big and interesting place to explore, but at the distance you will always see the Lucky 38.

Companions:

This game by far have the best and strongest companions in any fallout game, they have deep interesting stories, getting to knowtheir struggle and ambitions, and what they think of the different factions or events happening through the game, is and adventure and a half, they are all likable and very interesting, also they are completely optional, again is your choice to decide if you want to invest the time to know them.

Mods:

I gonna be honest, mods are mandatory to even starting playing this game, because this game vanilla holy shit is crash, so to spare you the suffering on searching what to install, here is the list of the scencial mods you will need to make the game run smoothly:

First go to the nexus mods page and create and account, download the mod organizer

Mod Organizer 2
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/6194

remember to link your nexus account to the MO2.

now you can download the following mods, these will appear on the MO2 once downloaded and you can just install them from there, very easy.

NVAC
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mo...
4 gig patch
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mo...
NVSE
http://nvse.silverlock.org/
Fallout New Vegas ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated
https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35935

with that the game should be able to run without problems, anything else is up to you.

In definitive, this game is such an incredible piece of media and one of my favorite games of all times, highly recommended.

The house always win/10

first fallout game that's actually hooked me :) i've tried 3, tried 4, but neither of those really hooked me in, at least not in the first couple hours. i think i'll give them another shot after this one, but aside from the crashes (that i have not been able to fix w mods yet), this is really just a cool, immersive RPG.

Undeniably the best Fallout out there. Great story, amazing map, dope weapons, etc. The only thing that I kinda hate about this sweet puppy of a game is the random crashing from time-to-time. Other than that, it's a keeper baby!

I'm not smart enough to put it into words as to why my next statement is true, but this is the greatest game of all time. And in my opinion I doubt it will ever be topped. This game is truly special. You're doing yourself a disservice if you haven't atleast tried it. Steam has a two hour refund policy, you have nothing to lose. Just try it.

Okay, so to start i want to mention a couple of things before i actually give a review of the game.

1. I modded the crap outta this game, it was near unplayable in the original state, both in fidelity, as well as just looks. But after spending like 3 days modding the game, i feel like i have a weird spin off of fallout 4, and cyberpunk 2077 (some mods were inspired by cyberpunk, there are literally cybernetics).
So that being said, my expierince will be inevitably different than yours. Especially because of how much time and pain it took to get the game in the state it's in now. And i gotta say, it looks, and plays beautifully,if a friend handed me the steam deck and i had no knowledge of fnv, i would think it was a game that came out in 2016-2018.
So that said, the game has amazing moddability and if you are patient can basically make this game into a more recent title with some of the best, if not the best writing in current rpg history.

2. I'm playing this on the steam deck. Just wanted to throw that out there for anyone that was thinking fo picking up this gem of a game. It's also very possible to mod the game on the steam deck, with no need of a computer at all. Though again, it makes the process much more difficult as the steamOS isn't really designed to run exe. but you can figure that out online easily!

That stuff aside, i'll review the game now.

A great classic Fallout game with a near infinite amount of free choice. Do whatever you want in this rootin' tootin' shootin' post apocalyptic desert. Start a wholesome journey as a goody two-shoes, become part of a gang of felons with dynamite, or just straight up cannibalize everyone you meet, It's tons of fun however you play it.

This game is a legend and vastly underappreciated. Obsidian was given but months to create a game for Bathesda and made a diamond, while Bathesda takes years to make s**t that ends up being either mid or completely unfinished on release. The DLCs, so far at least, have been absolute perfection. Of course, ive only played Old World Blues, but because i played it, i called my brain a d**k in an actual conversation. There's genuenly so many aspects beind the game and i'd rather not spoil it, so, spend $5. Play FNV. And wonder how crashing every hour is somehow being outweighed by the dopamine aquired from playing this.

Ghandi once said: "Fallout: New Vagas rocks on god man!"
Thank you.

Honestly I don't understand all the hate for this song. It fits the game's atmosphere and setting perfectly and its slow and melancholy pacing is a nice touch as well. It is one of my favorite songs in the entire game and whenever I hear it playing on one of the radios scattered across the wasteland I will not hesitate to switch to it... unless if Big Iron or Aint That A Kick in the Head is playing
