Play as an air traffic controller.

A good use of motion control.

absolutley NOT WORTH THE PRICE! after literally 30 secs into the game, youve seen all it has to offer. while visually pleasing, you wont be happy with simply guiding planes down, scaring off birds or putting out fires. this game (and its a strecth to call it that) should be priced at 5$ to encourage people to at least try it. but seriously, this isnt a game.

With its cohesive visuals and scoring, there’s no question that Final Approach VR is one of the more sophisticated games available in VR so far. It's the type of game you’d recommend to someone who wants to experience true room-scale VR for the first time.

So, is it worth the $24.99 price tag? In our opinion: most definitely, yes.

Expertly crafted, with fine attention to detail and magnificent sound design - what a perfect execution of bringing a classic game concept to a VR platform!

This game is awesome fun! One of my favs for the HTC Vive.

It's like being a little kid playing with micro-machines / hotwheel plane toys. It's pretty much what you want in VR, revive your childhood fun with lots of replay valve too. Well polished game. Highly recommended for owners of HTC Vive.

Whilst at the time of writing, I haven't even clocked up 2 hours. I know this is a game that I will be going back to.

Controlling minature planes in 'table top' environments is my kinda thing. The environments created have a good level of detail and the levels have been varied so far. There's always little side things to distract you also, like putting out fires, shooting down drones and sorting luggage.

One of the more enjoyable games I've experienced in VR so far.

I meant to leave a review for this game ages ago, but just totally forgot to do it! This game takes me back to when I was a kid and I used to play with toy cars and planes and make them talk to one another and crash into each other. It's fun. I always said it was a hugely underated early VR game that was not just a 'tech demo' but actually had a great concept and some real gameplay going on.

I recommend this wholeheartedly.

One of the most fully fleshed out VR Games available at the moment, nice graphics , nice controls, neat levels, simply just fun to play and not just a tech demo! Reminds me a little of playing with my matchbox cars when I was kid. Totally worth it's price. Best game Ever!

This is a great game. Makes me feel like a giddy kid playing toy planes which are actually flying (and exploding.) However you might have a little trouble playing if you can't meet the room size requirement because there is no locomotion and you are always spawn at the center of island.

The perfect VR game. This is the VR version of Flight Control for Android. Great cartoon-y graphics, easy interface, good use of room-scale, vaguely stressful but NBD. A+++ would buy again.

Final Approach is one of those games where you have to act like the air traffic controller in an airport. What really sets it apart is obviously the virtual reality interface. It's hard to explain, but this is one VR game that really puts you in the middle of the action. You feel like a colossus with tiny planes like insects buzzing past your ear. It's one of my favourite VR games.

Adidas

It's Firemint's "Flight Control" for iOS, but on the Vive. Besides 2 minigames, there's nothing more to it but drawning paths in the air (with difficulty considering that it's 3d and the tracking is a bit 'oh-hum'.

I feel like an imbecile for buying a budget game at AAA prices. Unfortunately, that seems to happen a lot with the vive. One trick pony games after the other.

Final Approach VR gets 5 stars on our Budget PC with the MSI RX-480. It’s smooth, clear and extremely detailed. By far the most detailed and in depth game we’ve played in VR on our HTC Vive. I was pleasantly surprised of the amazing performance of the Budget PC in this game. It had no lost frames and little to no reprojection at all. Moving the install location and save locations of my video files might have illiminated reproject 100% in our video but I felt that this was not needed as it didn’t affect gameplay at all. Final Approach is a must-have for any HTV Vive owner.

The good stuff most people are talking about is probably true... but...

Don't put combat in your airport game. The system does not work. It's not fun. It's stressy, fiddly and the third to last level is trash. It starts great, lasts up until they start asking you to command fighter jets, with a control scheme and AI that do not lend itself to it.

Also, it's badly optimised, and buggy as flip, causing multiple crashes.

It's fine... I guess. Not great though.

iorit

Oh wow, I finally got to play this version with the Oculus Touch and this is really impressive. It's a toybox fantasy - think of those tilt-shift timelapse videos that make cityscapes look like tiny train-set environments. This has that vibe going on, with tiny, beautiful, immaculately detailed aircraft flying around your head (with really nice positional sound - you know exactly where everything is by audio alone). I haven't played a whole lot yet, and the store screenshots concern me that the missions might get gimmicky, but I don't care because I can see myself just chilling and playing the freeplay mode for hours on end. As a VR experience, this is delightful and well worth the bucks just because of all the tiny little planes and how satisfying it is to be among them, guide them smoothly home, and miscalculate their flight dynamics horribly, leaving them to explode into the ground with horrifying regularity. I really don't see how there hasn't been an investigation into these incidents yet.

Buffamoo

One of the best games i have played so far. More missions are coming but i finished the current available missions in 5 hours which is not bad for the money plus you can play free play mode and you dont have to do the story mode. I recommend this game.

This is a great game! Reminds me of playing with Micro Machines as a kid. It starts off slow and lets you learn the basics, then BAM! You are in the heat of it. Final Approach is a fun VR game where u get to play air control.

Use your hand to select flight paths for incoming planes to land. Sometimes they crash but ohh well the game must go on.
Sometimes I find myself trying to crash planes in to helicoptors just for fun.

It is kinda like being a kid with the most expencive toys a rich man can buy their 4 year old that is on crack.

Trying to land planes or heicoptors somtimes on fire just to put out the fire and send them on their way.

If that is not enough on some maps you have to rescue the servivors from shark attacks or help the airforce defend there planes.

This game is extremely well made and takes u into the action!

I would rank this game in my top 10 VR games.

This game uses HTC Vive motion controls and play area!

Holy crap this game. Transforms me into a little kid with the greatest playset of all time. Essentially, you have toy-sized planes flying into your room and you have to give them a flight path to the airstrip while avoiding crashing into other planes (if you've ever played the mobile game Flight Control, it's a very similar idea).

This is of itself really entertaining and can get pretty frantic. What really brings in the 'holy crap' experience is the ground tasks. Occasionally, you'll have to help out on the airfield (e.g. helping douse the flames on a burning plane that's made an emergency landing or clearing birds off the airfield). Suddenly the little 'toys' you've been playing with, the miniature airfield playset, are writ large. A hundred metres off, you can see the jumbo airliner you just guided down to the airstrip, the thumb-sized bus you had to steer one of the little gliders around is now passing by you, and it's the size of a bus! Something about seeing the whole scene you've been standing over suddenly and dramatically in life size reinforces the god-like role of the player. It's a unique and almost humbling experience.

Then you realise you've been staring too long and two new planes that appeared while you were chasing birds crash into each other miles above. Oops.

11/10 would play god again.

Played on Oculus Rift with Touch controllers

Played this game for the entirety of a weekend, and really enjoyed it. I've always liked the air-traffic controller / scheduling style games.... and this didn't disappoint at all!

Really good control style, mapping out the flight paths of aircraft - as well as breaking the gameplay up with some first-person action. And Endless mode is always good to while away an hour or two.

Overall, a well executed air-traffic control game with a campaign that progresses nicely. Would have preferred a few more levels with more complicated airports/runways, but hey, that's just me being greedy!

MysticK

This is a simple, yet addictive game. It's also a very creative example of how to create a 3D VR game and introduce new control dynamics. Very simple to learn, but difficult to master. It can seem repetitive and tedious to some, but the increased difficulty makes the game fun to come back to. It reminds me of the vintage arcade game "Tapper" - lots of things going on that you have to coordinate.

Meowser
Meowser

Very well made for the price. Simply a pleasure to play.

brak

At first you're like "this game is for babies" and by level 2 you're writing letters to widows because you've caused a pile up on the run way and a collision by the hangars and something is on fire and oh god there's another plane running out of fuel that needs to land.

o_O

Came across this game and purchased it without any expectations - but wow it is fun! Reminds me of playing with toys as a kid. It's also actually 2 games for the price of one, which is super sweet. (There is a pilot edition, which lets you fly the planes and helicopter with a controller which is pretty cool.) While I did get it on sale, I think it's well worth the asking price. One thing I will say though, I HATE SORTING LUGGAGE. The dev who came up with the idea for that minigame should be ashamed lol. So far there are 15 levels with more planned. Can't wait for them.

A very well made quality product. Even at Halloween they added beautiful content to the lobby. All in the game looks really detailed and yet it still runs absolutely fluent what can't be said about too many other games which have a given detailed level. What a great fun game that's NOT a shooter, and can only be played in virtual reality! You find yourself in a very nicely done and detailed 3D space containing an airport and other things like buildings, fire trucks, people, aircraft carriers, and such. Lots of fun things to do to keep you busy, and without any teleporting around. Just a great fun room scale experience, probably the most fun I've had in Virtual Reality yet.

Imagine when you're a kid with your Hot Wheels die-cast planes, flying them around. This is like that come to life. Little perfect planes zoom around, and you can guide them where you want them to go, mostly to land, put our fires, and take off again. There are military planes, including bombers, so its not just a peaceful simulation, you do end up doing some aerial fighting as things move along in the storyline.\

I cant wait to see what the upcoming missions bring us! I suggest reverse-engineered ufo's!, project aurora, apache attack helicopters, c-130 gunship!

A solid VR game. Action incorporates at least half a dozen minigames, each of which alone would be a superb tech demo. The main story mode has a good amount of progressive content. This is the first VR game I have played for over 2 hours without taking a break. It was a blast, especially if you are like me and like planes and airports. The graphics are nice, gameplay is smooth and lag-free (R9 390x), and the missions are fun and varied.

One problem I had with the game is that I had to have my head tilted down almost all the time, which started to hurt my neck after a while.

This is one of my top 5 VR applications, and I have 47.

Curried-Cat
Curried-Cat

Possibly the best VR game I've tried, yes it has its frustrations but the way in which you interact is simple and effective. The use of 3D space is also spot on.

It takes those plane landing games from the phone to 3D with ease. Not only have you to guide planes and helicopters in to land but you might have to fight fires, scare off birds, rescue people and often at the same time.

Brilliant.

Great VR game!

This is a really fun game, I feel like a kid playing with toy aircraft. My favourite map is the city with all the heliports and helicopters, it reminds me of SimCopter.

Don't think that the game is easy, it's not. And you will twist, turn and jump around trying to manage all the aircraft. Many souls have perished during my game runs...

There's also plenty of content and some unexpected side jobs besides "controlling" aircraft.

If you've ever played the mobile game Flight Control, you already know what to expect here. There's an airport, there are planes in the air, get them on the ground without killing anyone. It's such a simple concept but in VR it just takes on a whole new lease on life. Ever aerial vehicle in the game is no more than 2 inches big and because of how VR works, it genuinely looks like someones breathed life into some adorable toys.

It's fun, it's challenging, it's gorgeous. With so many little extra mechanics added on to add a little flavour to your gameplay. Plane landed because of a fire? Shrink yourself down onto the tarmac, grab a hose and put it out. Generator died? Get one of your resident repair choppers to airlift it out and replace it with a new one.

Don't want to go through the campaign? That's fine too. There's all kinds of extra challenge missions to complete, including repelling an alien attack while guiding aircraft through to safety.

These devs have made a wonderful experience and quite honestly at a fantastic price point too. For the content present, you get more than your moneys worth. I cannot reccomend it enough. :D

Really fun game, great graphics, easy to learn but gets challenging.
I love the feeling of being a giant and seeing little planes flying around my head and looking down at all the little people.
I love bending over the island to get a good look at the planes.
The God-Mode perspective is so cool, so detailed.
You also get to shrink down to a normal sized person to put out fires, scare seagulls, and sort luggage.

I highly recommend every Vive owner to get this game!

odog502
odog502

This game is an example of some of the creative new genres being made possible by VR. The core of the game is built around air traffic control and guiding planes through landing and take off while keeping them from crashing into each other. Sounds kind of "plane" but its actually a lot more fun than it sounds.

The gameplay is quite original. You use your hand to touch planes and draw a line in the air to give them a flight path. Better keep the lines smooth and the turns gradual or they might crash. A small plane might be able to make a tight turn but a jumbo jet can't. There are also lots of mini games you have to keep on top of to keep things running like loading bags into the right carts, shooing birds off the runway and putting out the occasional engine fire. On the Navy fleet level you can defend the fleet with some anti-aircraft guns.

There are quite a few locations and levels. From the lonely island airport to the international airport, to the big city, to the navy fleet. The first levels are easy and laid back but as you progress youve got to handle things quickly. There are always multiple things going on at once at the international airport. Once youve mastered the missions the challenge levels will definitely keep you busy. They take a lot of effort to perfect.

The visuals are as good as the video and screenshots indicate. Even though it is cartoony looking it is still highly detailed. You'll find yourself kneeling down to the floor occasionally to look at all the tiny buildings and structures.

Overall this game is a great value for it's current price of $15. My friends and I have spent almost 10 hours on this game and still haven't seen everything yet. It's one of the more unique games on VR and one I keep coming back to from time to time.

One of the first VR games I bought for this Vive and it still is one of my favorites. The way you can move around to watch this world on different angle, is great. I usually play this short time and not really proceeding. What interests me in this is the little planes and the "god like" feeling you can have. Don't get me wrong, there is a game here inside, but you also can have fun without doing any missions - to some degree at least.
A must buy if you want to see little planes close and let 'em fly to their doom... by your command :)
Price is not too bad either.
Cheers...

Right now in the VR world, every game seems to be a wave shooter or some horror "experience". Final Approach is neither of those and I'm grateful for that. The graphics aren't the best but the gameplay is fun. And really, isn't that why we're here?

Fun game, things can get pretty hetic and i could definitly gripe about a few things with the controls. Even with any compliants i have though its still a very solid game and it has quite a few missions, i think somewhere around 20, as well as a development team that has been adding holiday content.

Lefty

This game hits close to home for me as a professional in this industry. I write a lengthy review in the hopes that it will reach the development team if they ever update the game.

It was super fun at first. Metro Airport is by far the most compelling level, and the flawless challenge was addicting as hell, trying to manage 3 runways and running unnecessarily aggressive squeeze plays with airliners is so fun. The amount of close calls when I land on 2L and launch on 11 causes serious and hilarious tension. You have to learn to keep track of who you clear and where, because if you forget one, people die. In the time I played, I definitely felt myself get more and more competent managing traffic, spacing adequately and limiting the number of collisions and making it farther and farther each time. Big airports were what this game was designed for, and I was disappointed to see there was only one. It was a lot of fun for the first two hours.

As I got better and better, I noticed things that were clearly rushed in development, as if “small” issues were deferred to meet deadlines and push the game out. Understandable, but I was operating under the impression that I had little value as a controller in this world, that the game didn’t have any respect for the magnitude of responsibility of safely controlling airplanes.

My first and biggest issue was with the ground vehicles. They don’t stop for airplanes, they will randomly drive onto and stop on active runways, and sometimes at the north terminal the catering truck will crash into the airplane that’s safely parked at the northeast-most gate. The catering truck will sometimes just spawn up north right next to an airplane I have holding short of 11 and ram into it. Once, just off 2L, I had to stop taxiing an airliner because the catering truck was approaching. The catering truck stopped directly in front of the airplane for about five seconds, giving the ambulance ample time to approach from the north and ram full-speed into the side of the airplane, forcing me to start over. Instead of being cautious and meticulous, the ground vehicles are random and reckless. It seems like they are actively trying to run into the airplanes. I understand the need for an additional micromanagement challenge, but I feel this is more a “random death chance” mechanic that was just poorly executed. It’s immensely demoralizing to be on a roll sequencing and spacing just to have a round cut short by a rogue ground vehicle.

Next, sometimes the auto-pathing of uncontrolled aircraft will cause them to randomly have a mid-air collision. Focused on sequencing and boom, a random midair on the other side of the map and the round is over.

Lastly, the UI just seems unimpressive. It’s not necessarily bad, just unwieldy, as if they designed it on day 1 and never improved it.

This game was way fun at first and I’d recommend the initial experience as money well-spent on a VR game. However the aforementioned issues above caused me to prematurely give up in frustration.

This is a really great game and is cute, funny, and engaging. The main objective is to coordinate your airstrip and land planes, but there so many other little elements in this game that stand out. You use a fire hose to put out planes that are on fire, you have to scare birds off of the runway using an air horn, and you have to throw baggage to the right plane, all while under pressure to get everything done as fast as you can. It can get stressful, but it's really a blast and has been a hit at parties.

There's a good depth to this game with many different elements and mechanics, so it has good replayability. It was worth the price and I bought it again as a gift. This is one of those games that's only possible in VR and I would recommend it.

Bearded Blue
Bearded Blue

This is one of those games that will catch you, because you put it on for a bit of quick fun, you have a great laugh trying it out and geting bettter, then suddenly an hour has gone buy and dinner is burnt!
Here's my terrible bit of Gameplay:
https://youtu.be/0rpoRHCnVWc

It's scary how easy it is to get sucked in to this game and yet how much great fun it is for a fundamentally simple mechanic. I say fundamentally, because it makes me think of an old iPhone game that had you land planes... but there are so many extra elements that make this fun and engaging and suddenly your panicking about the fire and the bl**dy ambulance truck wont get out the way, and those sodding birds!!!.... so yeah, lots of extra elements.

The Devs are great too, happy to engage with their community and gamers and if nothing else that should be proof alone how great this is.
I need to jump back in.. not leaving anything in the oven this time though -.-

At first glance it looks like a mobile game or something really shallow and simple. On the contrary! There are a lot of missions and they all have a good variety of objectives.

The graphics are fairly cheap but there still is quite a bit of detail to the maps and some aircraft look awesome. I adore the diorama-esque view that you can get in VR and this game really takes and runs with it.

This isnt a half assed release or demo of a real game that will never come, its a fully fleshed out VR title.
Not a TON of replayability but definitely accommodates those who would like to take another stab at a mission.

I whole heartily recommend it and fingers are crossed for a sequel!
This game is a blast for all ages. It does get a little challenging towards the end!

Back in the day, I used to play with these little plastic airplanes; flying them around making engine noises and having a jolly good time. I forgot about that until I scooped up this title. It’s great! I’m an hour and a half in, and while the general game play concepts remain the same, it keeps surprising me with fun mini challenges. Whether it’s a helicopter clearing smashed cars so emergency responders can get to some injured sims, or shooting down drones with AI-gone-bad, each level is fresh and fun. Can’t recommend it enough, it’s in my top list of favorites. Thumbs: UP!

Not much to say. If you're under the age of 10, this game would probably have you jumping for joy. If you are over 10, or have an IQ of over 70, this game will bore the living hell out of you within an hour or two. Completely repetitive, completely childish, completely boring gameplay. Hard to achieve that kind of low considering its a VR game. Oh well. Wasted my money, but I don't ask for refunds in general because I do want to support people who put effort into the game.

I guess the only thing left to say is, hey devs. You can do better.

Playing on the Oculus Rift. This is a very Creative game, with enjoyable mechanics. While some parts are more enjoyable then others. The game play is Engaging, and even though it can get objectively repetitious, it doesn't come across that way. If this game looks intresting to you, I would say its worth trying. I felt this was money well spent.

Paid $5.25 overall a decent game for that amount. Glad they threw in pilot edition which I prefer. Family Friendly and well done. Doubt I will play it much going forward but hope my kids will like it.

Bought it during the Steam sale thinking I'd hate it and refund it.. boy was I wrong. I haven't had a lot of time playing it yet, but it's very addicting and seems like it'll get even more challenging as I progress through the levels. It's the VR version of a game I used to play where you have to land a bunch of planes without crashing.

Obviously there's more to it than just that, but don't listen to negative reviews about it being for kids under 10. This game isn't for everyone. It's not a wave shooter or whatever else is popular at the moment, but I'm in my 30's and I grew up enjoying games like this. I'm thrilled I have something similar on VR.

Very unique game that is super cool. You have to have room scale to play so make sure you have the space required to play. I like the "god" viewpoint. You control what happens. This would be great for kids and adults alike. Easy to play and tons of fun!

The Wanderer
The Wanderer

Watch tiny lives from a God's eyes.
Control them like a god by drawing circles in the air and watching the planes trace your line in 3D.

Then you draw a line down onto the ground, and watch them burn.

-Helicopter/Aliens are bad additions.

A great hectic "Get the planes to the right lane and don't let them crash" type of game, great content for it's price. I'd definitely pick this one up.

Surprisingly fun, unfortunately hits a huge difficulty spike.

This game is great and even more awesome with the Vive Index running at 144 refresh rate, I can even super sample at this setting and it looks very clear and is silky smooth, very fun game.

Really cool game. Reminds me of when I was a kid and I owned a pile of micro machine planes and play-sets. I love how they fly around by themselves and the added mini-games add a bit of tension and fun between the puzzles. Really enjoying it so far. If you are a fan of puzzle games, VR and Air Traffic Control mobiles, this is a must have.

This is a great game.; however, all the other scenarious are really just prep for Airport Overload. This game should have started with Airport Overload and capitalized on that @#@$ to the moon and back. AO was and is one of my favoirite things to do in VR. It is Zen. It is difficult. It is 360degrees. Highly underrated game. I'm not saying the other stuff isn't fun; it is, but Airport Overload would be great as a standalone. You have to land 50 aircraft -from passenger jets to helicopters to small airplanes, a few military planes, without crashing one or crashing any into each other. No putting out fires or aliens or any of that other stuff. Just constant aircraft needing to land, refuel and change passengers, and takeoff without running into each other. So you're managing all the aircraft in the sky, the 3 runways and several helipads, and managing planes on the ground to get to the terminals, then taking everything off when done. If one aircraft crashes into the ground or hits another aircraft, you're done and must start over. Airport Overload is a total blast, and 2 years in it remains one of the most fun things I've ever done in VR. The only bummer? It stops at 50 aircraft serviced. This scenario should be able to be played to 100 aircraft, or 1000...or be able to go indefinitely until you crash something. Seriously. Devs, deepest respect because this game is !@#$ing AWESOME!,,,but, Airport Overload should have been the hook for this game. If you ever throw anything else out for this game, that would be my ask, Unlimited Airport Overload.

Works with Reverb G2. Everything is tiny (micro machine size) by default when in god/topdown view. Just need to increase boundary size in game settings to make it larger.

Fun game

This was not bad, maybe me being 40 that you might want to use a chair that spins to play this. This could be played at all ages but my little brother loved this.

This and its sequel crash on start.

Got it from a bundle key so I can't refund it.

Very fun game. Loads of character, both in the audio and in the graphical presentation. The gameplay is sometimes broken up with small fun minigames, which are easy to get the hang off and add to the overall presentation. I am very impressed by the work Phaser Lock has done here and would easily recommend the game to anyone with a capable VR system.

I could not recommend this enough. It's charming, the gameplay is simple, yet sometimes hectic fun, and frankly, out of all the VR games i've played, having the player towering above a lovely miniature enviroment, surrounded by cute little aircraft flying around them is the best use of 3D i've ever seen.

Oh, and before i forget: There's a bit of a story, too! It's not RDR2 or anything, but hey, fully voiced characters and some interesting objectives to mix up the gameplay.

I can't help but grin like a madman while playing this. I'd give it two thumbs up, but it doesn't do individual finger tracking, so instead i'll happily wave my hands at it and tell you to buy it this very instant.

AVOID

This game is total garbage! You have to micro manage everything with controls that are not designed for VR at all.
