Nothing impressing to be fair. Some mini games such as mail sorting is good, but some like the balloon catcher (honestly made me insanely bored that I had to stop and wait for a minute to end the game).. Some animations seem clunky, but the voice acting is great. I was hoping this game would have all the minigames from the 3D edition, but it seems that it will probably be DLC. I was hyped about the racing. While it is better than the original, it feel very lacking but has potential.

I don't know, I expected more to expand the universe of Flåklypa but currently (if its not going to be abandoned) it just feels very lackluster.

Childhood memories. Missed this game since I was a child.

Good game, good minigames.

Might not be worth the money for a person that has not played this game, but for the nostalgic person like me, its worth it

I am really disappointed with this game. The severe lack of mini games from the original game really let me down. They even ruined my favorite game, Ludvig's labyrinth. The only mini game that felt true to the original was apple harvest. Time to get an old pc and boot up the old game.

Brought a lot of childhood memories back. Miss the worm minigame though.

Great remake, well done Ravn Studios. :)

Unless you have never watched the movie and have no nostalgia towards the movie from 1975, avoid this game... This is the most dissapointing game i've ever witnessed.

I am a norwegian and a huge fan of the old game and the movie.
This was a game i've been awiting YEARS to play, and this was a total waste of money.
The voices are not great, but passable, but the narrator... Almost made me end the game at the intro.
He sounds more like he making a parody. It doesn't sound like he even tried sounding like the original.

There are several points that made this a bad experience, like the lack of minigames. They removed ALOT of content from the original game. Why?!

And the worst part.. the race at the end..
They don't bother with music of any kind through the race, which was okay ish. Kinda made the racing more focused, but it barely lasted 4 minutes.. and that's including all the cutscenes from the movie.
And when you cross the finish line?! I have NEVER been this dissapointed after playing a game and i want to get a refund, because this was NOT the game i waited years to play.

This is more of a parody than the tribute it's suppose to be.

(This is just my opinion ofc)

Was looking forward to this game so much, as I used to have so much fun with the original. Was excited to get to play chess in this game, which I enjoy a lot. When I started the game, noticed immediately things were missing. One big part is a lot of minigames were missing, the mentioned chess being one of them. I counted 8 that did not make into the game. Also everything went so fast, you get the carparts immediately, which you have to collect. And the racing itself was utter disappointment, as you don't actually race, or use dirty tricks as it used to be. Before you had several "steps" when it comes to building your car, and it made it faster in the races, but now just....

The good part was to be able to see everything in 3D and the nostalgia.

TLDR: Lack of content and the game feeling rushed is the reason I am going to refund. Sad day

Well... That's it, i guess... That's the game. Played for about an hour, doing a couple minigames as i went through the main story. Took me no more than that hour to finish the storyline, and i left the game running for a while. Came back hopeful and eager to unlock the remainder of the game, only to find out: i already did unlock everything, save for a few pieces of the car. Like 80% of the game is missing, and while it's nice to have a nostalgic trip down memory lane, it isn't nice to see said memory lane bombed into oblivion. This is closer to an insult to the old game than anything else. You could've done a "Dark souls Remastered" type remaster, and just given everything new updated textures, and we would've eaten that shit up, and thanked the chef afterwards. Instead, we got less than a fourth of the original game, WAY LESS STUFF TO DO, and a missing 360kr to our bank accounts. Seldom do i ever feel disappointment in such a degree. But congratulations, you sure managed.

TL;DR: Fun for about 50 min, and then you get depressed as you realize that you've now played the entire game

Would not recommend buying this game in it's curent state.
Missing a lot of minigames from the old game and it's riddled with softlocks and other various bugs.
Audio issues, skip function not working properly.
Lack of polish all over.
It's insane that they charge 400 NOK for this. Would be an okay game for 150 NOK.
I expected more from Ravn Studio. Especially with all the delays.

If you're Norwegian and had a relation to the game's initial release, then the nostalgia hits you like a motherfucker and the 40-something bucks were "definitely" worth it.

Otherwise? I would really think twice before buying this game. Essentially it is broken down like this: You follow a story, where you navigate through different scenes. All the scenes are interactive, and are packed with fun facts and short cut-scenes where the characters do stuff. You also unlock mini-games and parts for the car you build for the story, and these two aspects are the main meat of the game. You also get to unlock more cars to drive for a racing mini-game

There are around 9 mini-games, and that's really the gameplay. The story is short, simple and sweet, and can last you as little as an hour.

Would I recommend this? Yes and no. Very little content for a very steep price, but if you are Norwegian and played this game back in the days, then gjør deg klar til å få pengene dine dratt baklengs inn i kapitalist-kassa.

Dissonurus

Like many others who would buy this game, I grew up with the movie and the first game from 2000.

In short: "Does it have the same feel as the old game and will I go down memory lane?": First 10 seconds yes. Especially the race game has dramatically improved. It was everything you wanted with the first game in terms of racing. Likewise it still keep some old fashioned 2 players-one-keyboard options which, in my opinion, is rare nowadays. You will also encounter some of the same games from the first version and have a nostalgiatrip but with better graphics. And I wish I could end the review here but there are a few things that need mentioning.

1: The price
It is absolutely eyewatering. With a game consisting of 1/3 fewer minigames than the origianal at almost 4 euro per minigame. Absolutely dreadfull. Furthermore the whole experience will take you less than 4 hours which means that in retrospect you would pay 10 euro an hour for a game less accomplished than its "dad". If i was given this game I'd love and would defend it to the hillt. But would I buy it with my current knowledge? No. If you happen to catch this game with a 95% discount: take it.

2: Design
There are a few but irritating design flaws. A good example is that I have to lose a game to find out what high score I need to get a gold trophy. Another one is that the designers didn't bother designing the different car parts that you can find round the world. Instead they lobbed one single object a few places. It really feels like they didn't even try.

3: Missing minigames
A lot of minigames are missing. It puzzles me that they shortened the game compared to its predecessor on purpose. While some of the old minigames were simple like chess, "paint", and matching socks it doesn't explain why the developers thought they wouldn't cut the mustard for a truly nostalgic audience.

In essence then this game is neither a remastered version of the old game, nor is it completely new. It's a brownygreen mush of both. The whole point of a new game is to be better than the old one and this plainly isn't. Mind you: I love the universe of Flåklypa Grand Prix. But this one is truly disapointing. After so many years THIS is the best they came up with.

Prinsesse Vilikke

I was very disappointed when I discovered it only has 9 minigames. half of the minigames that were in the original game are missing for no apparent reason.

The majority of the iconic minigames are missing.
This feels unfinished.

Not worth the price.

After 19 years since the latest release in 2002, this has been a long time coming. As much as I absolutely loved the first game, this has been a huge let down.
Don't get me wrong, the new 3D environment and updated mini games are extremely fun, not only from a nostalgia-POV.
But when this should feel like a "grand-remake", i'm sad to say there's a lot of content has been excluded.

The Positives:
- It feels amazing to have a "free camera" and look around the environment.
- All the mini games (except the jigsaw puzzles) in my opinion have been a huge upgrade.
- The racing is exciting, fun and at times challenging. I love it!

The Negatives:
- Moving around the map to different locations is cumbersome and long-winded. To get from A to B, I have to move around half the map.
- The animations are at times weird and spontaneous.
- No involvement from other characters. Example when Ludvig falls down the mailbox, Solan does not react or look until Ludvig ask for help... it feels "stiff?"
- Audio does not match up at times (Sounds of walking on grass when indoors)
- Unlocking new games, items and car parts feel like a chore when you have to sit through what feels like 5 seconds for the game to move on.
- Honestly, Fy Fazan's voice acting is just awful, it sounds like he is reading from a manuscript with no knowledge of the character. Generally the voice acting feels a bit "meh".
- I laughed hard(ly) when I opened a fact-box about the sun... It said it took 8 seconds for light to reach the earth from the sun. Fix it!
- The car building has removed a lot of the intricacies of the original, which had loads of car parts. Now some parts have been merged, and some split up. Honestly, there should be more car parts, and unlocking every car piece after about 2 hours is in my opinion too quickly.
- Bottom line. The worst part is the lack of mini games the original version could offer. That's what made the previous release much better. Why would Mahjong be 1 of the 9 mini-games? Nothing about Mahjong screams Flåklyåpa to me.

We miss "The Worm game", "Hopscotch game", "The Oil Adventure Game", "The Sock-matching game" just to name A FEW.

All in all... It's been fun playing the game. And as much as I would recommend it, I can't. The game feels so bare and devoid of games and finesse.
BUT!! If you've never played the original release from 2000/02, then you probably have no expectations, and this wouldn't be such a huge let down, and I would recommend it. But it is still a bit buggy.

I would really have loved to recommend this game, as it is such a nostalgia for me. I played the original game when I was five, and both the gold edition and the 3DS edition later. I have been looking forward to this remake for years. I actually like the parts that are remade, that's not the issue. It's hard to recommend a game when about 40% of the original game is missing. Not only that, but we consumers weren't told about this, so our expectations were of course to get the entire game. Several minigames (oil, socks, worm, chess, checkers, hopscotch, sliding puzzles, and weather machine, if not more) are missing, the puzzles are really dumbed down to sizes 4x4 or 3x3, and so is the bicycle game even on hard difficulty. I really hope Ravn Studio will add the rest later. I really don't understand why this decicion was made..... Really disappointing. Now excuse me, I have to go back to sorting mail.

I loved the original game when that came out in the early 2000s, and I had a wonderful time reliving some of that nostalgia in the remake. However, as many others have pointed out, it is ridiculous that more than half of the minigames are gone. Adding to that, the game costs 400kr (about 40$) for a game I completed in less than four hours, which is an insane price to demand for the lack of content. I would honestly have preferred it if they put the old game on steam without any touch-ups rather than sacrificing half the game for it.

Regarding the existing mini-games and upgraded graphics, I appreciate the effort they have put into the game, and it looks pretty decent, runs nice enough, and feel up to date. I do especially like how they treated the apple game and mail game. I'm not sure I like the new labyrinth game though I can see how much effort has been placed into it to make it modern and fresh.

In terms of progression, the game feels very odd. I'm not a fan of the new car parts gathering as it feels less interactive and meaningful. For me, one of the best things about the old game as a whole was the slow gathering of car parts, each getting you closer to finishing the Il Tempo Gigante. In the remake, I suddenly had 30 pieces in two hours. It did not feel great. I do, however, like the difficulties in the game and "hard" definitely keeps things interesting for older players as well.

Concluding, I can not recommend half a game, but I will commend the effort they have put into many aspects of the game. It is just not enough content to justify the price tag. Additionally, players who have fond experiences of the original game will likely feel robbed due to the lack of their favorite minigames. I really hope that the developers add more minigames post launch, but even so, the price tag would feel uncomfortable.

I bought this game hoping for a big chunk of nostalgia. And while the nostalgia was there it wasn't all the way there.
I am missing several of the most entertaining minigames I used to love about the game.
Minigames like the worm game, sock matching, oil game.

The minigames currently in weren't bad, the post sorting one is just like I remembered and offered a good challenge on medium and hard difficulty.
I believe the balloon game is a new one, that one was fairly entertaining aswell.
I have read some experienced bugs, I did not during my playtime.

Animations looked mostly good, a few hiccups here and there. Voice acting felt weird and quirky at times, but I can't say I remember too much of the old one to make a good comparison.

Will rebuy if they come with an update bringing back the minigames we all love. But as of right now the game is not worth nearly 400kr.

This game isnt worth the money at all. All i wanted was the good old game, but they have removed most of the minigames. Some minigames have been updated to make them worse or just super easy (even on hard difficulty). They even cut some story away.
Collecting the car parts and building the car is now very boring as they basically show you where the parts in the world are.
Even the racing has been changed to first person which some people might like, but i liked the top-down racing style from the old game. They dont let you pick the old style, only first person.
There is a new minigame, but it is extremely boring and easy, no matter what difficulty you choose.

I wanted to refund the game, but had already tested it for more than 2 hours and then cannot do that.
Very disappointing game. I recommend that you DO NOT buy this game.
I was very excited for this game, so its sad to see they butcher the game so badly.

If they released a straight up copy of the old game to steam, it would have been way better than this disaster.

What i wanted was a update of the good old game and to experience some of my best childhood memories when it came to games. Whats here its just sad. Seems like all the work has been put into the driving aspect of the game, but its just ok and to easy to win.

Even tho I only played the game for few hours I definitely love it. One think that really got me adicated to the game was the Racing part of the game. It's fun, intense. Liker spillet godt.

While playing this game, this will never be a bad purchase from my side due to the blast of nostalgia this brings. The scenes are beautiful, and it still has it's charm. There are still some things about this game that is lacking. The minigames and racing is unfortunately too easy for most people. There is also interactions with the environment the old game had, that I feel this is lacking. Also I believe the old game had much more scenes and content. I remember from the old game that I could spend hours every day doing something fun in Flåklypa, in this game I don't think that's true as the tasks are not really challenging.

Anyways, very happy we got a remake even if it didn't hit all my expectations. It's still Flåklypa and I will always recommend

What a disaster.

I was so excited for this game to be released. Finally, I would be able to play my favorite childhood game on steam. Even with improved graphics!
When I then also found out the game would have achievements, I was sold.

Then on the day of the release, I saw the price tag. 400 NOK (about 45 dollars).
“Ouch. That’s a big price for re-releasing a game that came out in 2000. But then again, it is such an amazing game, and they have upgraded the graphics as well. So, I’m sure the price is justifiable. And it launched on steam with a 10% discount. I’m sure it will be worth it” I thought.

I was so, so wrong.

Let me start off by giving credit where credit is due. The game does actually get a minority of things right.
The letter sorting minigame is completely unchanged. This is a huge win!
The 3D models look fine.
It has a lot of the iconic old music that the original had.
And lastly, its greatest achievement: It serves as a perfect and shining example of how to NOT remake an old game. If nothing else, I hope other developers can learn from this trainwreck.

Before I get into the many gripes I have with this game, let me address the elephant in the room.
I already know what several people are thinking.
“This is a children’s game. It is not targeted at you, so of course you are not going to enjoy it as much as you did as a child.”
Okay, fair point. But I have some counter arguments.
First off, in the trailer, they clearly state that this game is “super fun for the WHOLE family”. Which would indicate that it is meant to be enjoyed by people of all ages.
Secondly, the old 2000 game actually was enjoyed by kids and adults alike. I still have memories of seeing my dad in his office playing some of the minigames from time to time.

So, what is the issue with this game?
The issue is how much content from the original that they didn’t add.
The old game flourished due to its big variety of minigames that you could get lost in. There was really something for everyone there, which is why the game was such a hit.

There is a whopping 18 minigames that have been completely left out this game.
What we are left with is 9 minigames and a very short story that you can beat within 30 minutes.
But let’s take a closer look at some of these minigames.

First off, there is Ludvig’s labyrinth. The original version was basically just Pac-man. Collect all the items on the map without any of the bee swarms touching you. Simple.
In this new version, the maps are HUGE with a lot more items around the map for you to pick up, but only one bee swarm instead of the two or three in the original. But it also adds in new mechanics like a diving suit so you can move through water, sliding walls that you must navigate through, minecarts that drive you to new parts of the map, and teleporters. The bees have also been done really dirty here. They pose no threat to you at all, and the real challenge is no longer to figure out how to navigate around the angry bees, but just how to navigate around the giant mess of a labyrinth. When I reached map 7 or 8, I decided to end the run because of frustration, so I had to be the one hunting the bees. Shouldn’t it be the other way around?

The apple harvest minigame is mostly the same, with a few changes. An actual good change here is that Ludvig will replace the basket a lot faster than in the original. The questionable change is the introduction of golden apples that can magically teleport falling apples to the basket. In my opinion this was an implementation that doesn’t really add anything to the game, so I’m curious why they thought this was worth their time.

Solans bike minigame is still here, but it doesn’t really translate very well in a 3D format. The camera angle is awkward, and it is often hard to see what’s ahead of you and what lanes have hazards in them. The 2D version of this minigame wasn’t exactly perfect either, but I think they should have improved on the original 2D instead of changing the formula completely.

Solan’s balloon hunt has carried over as well, and this is baffling to me.
They had all these amazing minigames in the old version, and they make the decision to only carry over 9 of them to this new version, and the freaking balloon hunt is one of them? Who on earth thought this was a good idea? This is the most boring waste of time in the history of anything ever. After about 5 minutes of this god forsaken minigame, you will have experienced all it has to offer and start to question why you paid 45 dollars for this game.

But hey, we were promised new content too. Let’s look at that.
The new content they added was a racetrack you can do as Ludvig on a tricycle and some new racing modes. That’s pretty much it.

18 minigames were sacrificed so that we could have some more race modes. Was it worth it?
Well, no. Because this isn’t done particularly well either. The handling is awful, and the cars feel very static to drive. It is a clear visual improvement from the original game, but the gameplay aspect of it has been degraded just like everything else.

And don’t even get me started on the voice acting. Some performances are better than others, but it’s generally just awful to listen to anything the characters have to say. Me bothering to write this sentence in this review is more effort than they put into the actual voice acting.

I have a theory of what happened. What we are looking at here is a very small team of developers that has never played the original game, had tight deadlines and a small budget. This does not excuse the unfinished mess of a product that they gave us, but at least it might explain things.

I have seen some theories about how they are going to add the missing minigames as DLC later, or just patch them in over time. Here is what I think is going to happen.
Nothing.
There will be no patches, no DLC, no golden version of the game, no nothing. This is the best they could give their loyal fanbase after many years of anticipation and waiting for a new game.
And honestly, I think that is the best outcome we could hope for at this point.
If they try to sell us a golden version of the game in a few years with a new 45 dollar price tag on it that contains all of the content that they purposely removed, that would be far worse than just giving us a bad product.

I am an achievement hunter. This game would be no exception to that. I set out with a goal to 100% this game, and I did. This means that I have played through, experienced, and beaten all the content that the game has to offer. And how long did it take me? 12.3 hours. But truth be told, at least 2, possibly 3 hours can be subtracted from that due to me being AFK.

Okay so look. This is very important. I have two closing remarks I want to make before I leave this games store page for the last time and pray that I forget it ever happened.

Firstly, I have a wish. Some people wish for wealth, for attractiveness, for meaning, or for success. I do not wish for any of those things. My only wish right now is for you to NOT buy this game. And if you have bought it, request a refund as soon as possible. Please do not give these people your money. There are so many better ways you could spend 45 dollars that would be more meaningful and fun.

And secondly, did you enjoy my review? Did it make you chuckle? Or even just pull slightly on your smiling muscles?
If yes, then congratulations! This review has probably brought you more enjoyment than this game ever could.
If no, then I’m sorry. I’ll try to do a better job next time. Funny enough, that exact sentence is something the developers should say as well.

I enjoyed this game greatly but it is not without problems.

It's been so long since I played the original I can't remember much of it, but I do remember the Ludwig’s labyrinth minigame being my favourite but they have changed into something else that is too easy and boring, in the original it was some easy addicting pac-man-ish.
The game is filled with the most useless trivia, I don't know if it's so they can sell it as a learning game or it's just fun facts, but they are so pointless with one sentence each to cover entire fields of study.
The racing games are a highlight but a lot of the tracks reuses so many assets that you wonder why they bothered making a track.

but I can forgive all that, but the price tag is insane, 40 eur for a remake of a 20 years old game about 50 years old movie.
while there is content in the game to get your money's worth back I still think its way to expensive, 20 i'd prefer, 30 I could live with but 40 is too much, because while racing is vastly improved, the main story is less than an hour of gameplay and they have cut as much as 18 minigames i've heard honestly can't remember most of them.

but if you haven't played it before it's fine, controller support is okay, but definitely wait for sale.

Bought the game knowing that it would not contain everything it should.
The lack of MAJOR minigames, everything from worms, birds, socks, sound-box, jumping game, gems and diamonds... To smaller things like the piano, slide puzzle and so on...
Biggest game breaker is the lack of sound files. The monkey, the "Sheik"... They don't speak. Narrator also don't speak half of the time past mid-game.
The game itself, the story, shortened and simplified. And the final race... Very bad experience.

1% Nostalgia.
99% Frustration.

The labyrinth is plain broken. Bees don't chase you, you chase *IT* to die faster. (used to be 2-3 bee's, now it's only 1, and it doesn't give a **** about you, even when stealing the bee hive)

Game is what it is if you dont compare it to the original game.
Put I dont think the game lives up to the price.
Most probobly the developers will just take my money and leave the game as it is.

Will give this game a thumbs down. but its more like MEH.

I played the old version a long time ago. And was excited to try the new version. sadly i didnt enjoy it much at all. tho personally i dont remember the old one enough to put my finger on why. Only upside was the apple game and the post sorting game. i didnt bother to play the whole game, because the slowness of the story and action really got me frustrated. so i decided to just hit a refund instead. This feels like a manipulative cashgrab from the family that today takes care of the flåklypa brand. RIP norwegian animation legends.

It's just way too short and way too expensive. They removed games from the original, presumably to make the other games better, but they're really not. The 3D-racing isn't worth it, it probably would have been better to have kept it 2D. If it's on sale, sure, get it, but don't buy for original price

Utrolig skuffende.

The game was passed quickly enough, and that's bad.
I played it when I was a kid, and she was quite interesting.
Firstly, there are fewer mini-games here, and those are delayed
in the main plot. I can already play racing, on a ready-made car, although it is assembled by 50 percent
of course, the game inspired a slight nostalgia, but still she is not the same as she was 20 years ago.
Separately, I note that full-fledged 3D graphics is a bold move the picture looks clear and fresh and the integration of racing and multifilm inserts impressed me very much.
However, if you haven't caught the CD era or you have not received a disc with the game as an inheritance, playing it here is also a good alternative.
