One of the most underrated games i have ever played. I cant stress enough how much I recommend buying this game.
Adding multiplayer as in fighting against each other and also co-op would make this the best game I have ever played.

The game is still in early access as of writing, but it's cheap, it's free, and despite it's current flaws, it's a fun time with a lot of potential. If you're in doubt, look at the price tag, the early access sign and the content on the store page, chances are you're getting exactly what you expect.

I haven't played the game enough to have a large masterful understanding... However, it reminds me very much of Ultrakill, the visual style is decent too. Gameplay is seemingly infinitely replayable. I most likely will play this more when bored or I need something fast-paced. I recommend this if you're into shooters like Ultrakill and Doom!

the game is really good, for it being an early acces game its hella fun but going forward it may need a longer main mode like 5 floors and maybe a way to get absolutely bloody overpowered in the endless mode like one upgrade per repeat, also the pillar of light enemies are hella annoying (sorry for any spelling mistakes its 1am)

An interesting Rougelite FPS, like a small version of Robo-Quest. I hope to see it get the development and polish it needs to grow. I think it's simple and arcade-y in the right ways. I think the developer is on the right track, I think they will just need time to fully realize the full potential of this game.

basically if you took post void's constantly draining health system and an attempt at ultrakill's movement but everything is on ice skates, still manages to be really fun despite it's massive problem with movement

Game Guy!
Game Guy!

I really like the idea of a rogue-like & boomer shooter combined. This game has potential to be great, but I do have some gripes.

-Rooms feel too cramped and not enough space to move around, especially in a game about always being on the move.
-Spike traps aren't very clear. (Maybe giving the player a little bit more height would be great.)
-The boucey ball traps aren't clear enough/are very annoying. Almost always get hit every time I enter a room.
-Low Gravity debuff feels like a buff to me. Air control speed feels so sluggish.
-The enemies that spawn the light beams attack way too fast.
-The enemies that shoot the flying spike balls toward the player should be shootable/be destroyed when killing said enemy.

But overall, this has good potential! Very fun for 3$, a good time killer too. I hope you will do great things with this game!

This FPS kicks ass.
It's probably the best fps that encourages you to move fast and kill faster. The controls hit a good balance of being loose and being tight. But I wish the movement was a little tighter. But it's not unbearable and you will get used to it.
The art style looks charming. The few music I heard in this game sounded wonderful. I wish there was more!
The rogue-like elements in this game work perfectly! And some of them are insanely creative, like pixelating the game every time you miss a shot.
This game is solid! Can't wait for more!

nox
nox

only a few different enemy types and weapons (only the pistol and smg are really worth using)
a few debuffs in the game that don't even work or at least don't affect anything enough to be noticed (pixelation after every miss and 50% chance for blindness)
deaths often feel completely random because there aren't any sort of sound or visual cues that alert you when you could be one shot by an enemy, the health bar is in the very corner of the screen and using just black and white which doesn't stand out at all so unless you're looking right at it it'll go unnoticed

fun for a little bit but there's no depth to this game to make it worth playing for more than one session

Definitely pick it up for the price ! The dev is also really cool :)

Quite a fun roguelike game similar to post void. The graphics are quite cool and the weapons feel satisfying to use. Some of the cards and modes could be touched up in more ways but one but overall it's quite a fun experience, and for so cheap it's worth it!

IMPORTANT BUG: You can somehow close the door leading to the safe zone in front of you not being able to open it anymore, therefore you can't enter it.

Review

Really dynamic. You don't really get a break until you reach the safe zone, which creates intense scenarios. Granade gun is feeling really slow tho.

The whole roguelite system is also quiet fun. Having to debuff someting in exchange for a buff is pretty balanced. The debuffs can get really meta like "No explosive barrels" or "Screen gets more pixelated on every miss" or "No pause in Danger Zone" you get the point, it's fun. Sometimes a poorly chosen debuff can ruin the whole run in the next room, which makes you think about whether it's worth it or not.

The movement is a bit slippery, and its kind of hard to get out of acid, but overall pretty fun to move :D

I wish there was more choice to lower the graphics since it's still a bit laggy even without anything special, and also maybe more crosshair customization in future. Maybe also something like a sandbox mode, where you can choose any buffs/debuffs manually and do a run with them.

I really liked the demo and the game changed quiet a bit since it, for the better. Overall, pretty good game, can't wait to see what awaits it in future.

Bugs (I hope the devs see this and fix them :p I will keep updating it)

- Typo in "Eniemies Don't Receive Damage From Traps" debuff
- In the start when you exit the safe zone and enter the danger zone you can agro enemies and then go back to the start, and they will shoot at you through the wall
- "50% To Heal Full HP With Reflecting Bullet" buff does not fit in it's boundaries
- Sometimes the HP cooldown can go into negatives
- Sometimes the shots just don't go through even if you are aiming at an enemy or if they are right in front of you

Fucking love it so far, wish there was more content but it is in early access....

It lags a bit for me on the final area of whats out, dont know if thats my pc or the game.. thinking its the game....

Coolev009
Coolev009

Amazing fast-paced shooter, love the simple loop of enter, shoot, exit.
The buffs and debuffs really help push the player to go as fast as they can.

Early access right now, so still a bit rough around the edges, but the core of the game is nice and fleshed out.
Hope to see it grow while I enjoy what's implemented.

Goongaloon
Goongaloon

My only gripes with the game is the movement. Sometimes it feels like I'm moving slower than I should, and I think you should move faster in general (I know there're buffs for more speed). Another thing I would like is the ability to slide for longer (or infinitely) by default. Apart from that, this is a pretty good game to just launch and do a few runs. (Also dev if you are reading this please make it so you swap weapons using the number keys.)

Absolutely love the game so far. It's light on content right now, but what's in the game is really fun.

fly me to the moon
fly me to the moon

love the game, is amazing, and if you like fast paced fps you should play it, the only thing is that bothers me, that is neither good or bad it just comes to personal preferences is the graphics, for me they are charming, but trying to see at long distances is practically imposible, but like i said it comes to personal preference, and it will be amazing if in the future they add a feature to at least make the filter a little bit less intense

Average Ultrakill Player
Average Ultrak…

The game has potential and a fun enough gameplay but it's extremely unbalanced.
Your health reduces every second, enemies do massive damage, movement is terrible, reflection mechanic doesn't work properly, debuff on every buff is garbage and the gameplay is bland.
Not even close to ULTRAKILL, I've seen people comparing these games but they don't have SHIT in common

Crystallixed
Crystallixed

A shooter where YOU GOTTA MOVE, or else your health drains quicker. Love the idea and is fun in practice. It just released for early access, so there's not a lot of content, but it is a more than serviceable amount considering the 3 dollar price tag. Fun little game!

_n
_n

As of 27/08/22 (2 days after early access release)

TL;DR:
If you've played ULTRAKILL or other rougelites and boomer shooters, then the game has maybe 30 minutes (15 if you're good) of unique content. Combat is fast and fun, and the mechanics force you to play fast and loose, but rooms are samey and cramped, enemies are predictable, perks break runs or don't matter, and there's very little content. If you think it's worth investing $3 (£2) into an experience that may get better over time, feel free to purchase.

Wall of Text

The game uses style and mechanics similar to ULTRAKILL and Post Void (as stated in the about section), and overall the feel of the game is really nice. UX is well designed, and the art style is very cohesive. The music and sound design is awesome; Hitting an enemy produces a synth kick, and kills are puntuated with a snare. Once you get into the flow, it feels like you're making a beat. The game is stable and I experienced very few issues. Unfortunately there's just not much "game" here (look at the playtime from other reviews). There's no narrative, and as far as I can tell, there is only one piece of artwork showing the main character, which does not appear in the game.

The main game hook is pretty interesting - you have continuous HP drain while inside the "Danger Zone". Standing still or moving slowly will increase HP drain, and moving quickly will decrease HP drain. You regain HP by killing enemies, forcing you to keep moving and keep killing. Sadly, I don't think this is communicated effectively in the trailers - the tagline is "You move or you die", but this the case in almost every game. It's also not accurate - you will die even if you do move, just slower. I think something along the lines of "Move quickly, die slowly" would have been better at communicating the main game mechanic, and help differentiate it from other fast-paced boomer shooters, but I'm no marketing expert.

Issues with the game's design start to pop up once you play for a little while. The dominant strategies are not very hard to figure out, and unfortunately they aren't too interesting. The worst part is that they are so effective that it almost doesn't matter what perks you choose - it got to the point that I was just picking them at random because I didn't care.

1) Movement
Since you're encouraged to go fast, you'll quickly learn that sliding keeps you moving fast with practically 0 downsides. Even worse, jumping, kicking, and stomping slow you down / break momentum, so you're not really incentivised to do them unless necessary. Despite this, the rooms you're fighting in have limited space to move about, making fast movement cumbersome. The rooms don't present many interesting movement challenges, and it can sometimes be annoying to find the exit.

2) Enemies
There are six moving enemies, two turrets, and spikes. Their fatal flaw is that they all are too predictable. All mobile enemies only move towards you, and almost all projectiles are shot directly at you. There's two robots (big and small) and four drones (three that shoot projectiles at you, and one that's an explosive barrel). Robots are fast and melee only: you naturally prioritise them due to their size and speed. Turrets are top priority if they are shooting at you, and barely matter otherwise. Drones pose little risk unless you're moving directly towards them. Spikes can take you by surprise if you're not paying attention, but since there aren't too many room layouts, you'll end up remembering their positions and tells quite quickly. Since enemies always move towards you, what tends to happen is they bunch up near the entrance, you quickly clear the room with a well timed explosion, then you just run to the exit through an empty room.

3) Weapons
There are four - pistol, SMG, shotgun, and grenade launcher. You'll be spending the most time with the pistol as it's the default, and the only way to get guns is by randomly getting a perk. It's unfortunate because the pistol is not all that interesting. 6 rounds in a mag (no chambered round), average fire rate, ok damage. The SMG is the most fun because you get more leeway in terms of accuracy, so it allows for riskier play. The grenade launcher is great for taking out clusters of enemies, but frustratingly it will not explode barrels on contact, only bounce around the room randomly until it hits an enemy or the timer runs out. The shotgun is the weakest gun without supporting perks. It's slow firerate, large spread and surprisingly weak damage even up close makes it hard to pick whenever it comes up.

4) Perks
There are over 70, split into roughly 40 buffs and 30 debuffs. Depending on the gamemode you'll pick one per floor, or three for a wave. Each choice is a double-edged sword, as you have to pick a buff with a debuff. Only a handful significantly affect gameplay. If you're unlucky and not paying attention you can kill a run by making poor decisions. Similarly, if you're lucky you can end up getting four SMGs, and it's basically a free ride to the finish line. Due to perks being selected at complete random, the choices you get range from obvious to stupid - something seemingly acknowledged(?) by the developer, since there's an achievement for selecting a choice with "No buff". Rarely did I think much about picking a perk, typically you're either picking something you want and just dealing with the consequences, or you're trying to minimise the annoyance caused by debuffs. The perk that drew me in, four guns, is rare and loses it's wow factor fairly quickly, once you realise most other perks are not like that.

Finally, we end up talking about the dominant strategy that pretty much breaks the entire game: keep sliding and moving sideways, occasionally jump, and shoot accurately rather than quickly. Once you learn enemy attack patterns (or lack thereof), and typical room layouts, the game gets pretty easy.

Despite writing a short novel detailing all my issues with the game, I don't think it's bad. This is no cash grab, and it's obvious the developer is passionate about the game. I had a pretty decent time with it, and maybe there could be a proper game here with more content, and more thought put into gameplay design decisions. I can only hope that some of my points lead to improving the game.

A smooth fast paced action shooter.

Pretty light on content currently and the balancing is a bit wack but the core game loop is good and there is plenty of room for expansion throughout early access. I have high hopes for this games future.

I'll probably make a video review at some point on .1v or whatever this is. But this game is great. Its not even close to make any final statements about it, it is very much clearly in early access. But if you love room clearing movement shooters, you probably already bought this game from the first 5 seconds of watching gameplay. If you didnt and you're looking at reviews to see if its worth getting? It doesn't offer anything new. And that's a good thing. Its fast. Precise. And will kill you fast if you aren't either of the two previous things. I will send the dev private messages on suggestions, but i have high hopes for this. It's kinda what i wanted from games like Viscerafest. Glass cannon becoming a force of God.

EsmeEmerald
EsmeEmerald

Since my last review, the developer has addressed all my previous criticisms. Bug fixes, performance issues, new rooms, perks, enemies, buffed weapons. They're clearly very passionate about the product they've made, and it shows in all the improvements. And for such a cheap price?! Can definitely recommend this fun movement-FPS, especially to anyone with a knack for speedrunning.

RaZman
RaZman

There's not much content at the moment but the mechanics are really solid so unless In404 take the Early Access money and run this title has a lot of promise. At the moment the runs are all really fun thanks to the roguelike perk system so I still think it's well worth the low price.

blool
blool

Really short but really cool game! My main problem is that a few tools in your arsenal kinda feel a bit useless, the shotgun and grenade launcher feel a bit weak compared to the pistol and the SMG, I also feel like the kick is a bit underwelming. Appart from that the game does everything pretty well and its worth the price

Trucore
Trucore

Overall, it's a great game.

What needs to be fixed:
- Hitboxes
- If the game is fast paced, then I shouldnt have to go looking for enemies
- Other weapons need a buff as the Pistols are best in slot.

Kyluxas
Kyluxas

A game with genuine potential. For the price right now i'd say it's perfectly fine, the base game is all there and what is there is genuinely fun, what's really needed right now is just more content. Happily waiting for future updates.

Tripwire
Tripwire

fun and frantic combat with an interesting "gotta go fast" premise, neat pixel style and fun little things like hits being bass drums and kills snare drums, effectively having you playing the drums as you shoot your way through robots.

what i'm still a bit unhappy with are the actual movement mechanics, it feels like the game lacks a bit of player inertia. wasd movement itself feels great, but small things like momentum not transitioning to jumps and air control feeling a bit too goopy for this kind of game keep me from achieving full speedyboi bliss

but still this slaps and i'm looking forward to more :)

Lama

Good
-hit sfx being drums feels pretty good
-colourful low poly artstyle

Suggestions
constantly losing health doesnt work the best in this game as distance between enemies your way of gaining back health is too far and when a room is cleared theres usually a lot of distance to the next room I would either lessen the room size better distance the enemies or pause the health drain and timer on room clear till you enter the next room. The constant health drain sytem in post void works as theres always enemies and you can kill them quickly to gain health by landing a headshot

another issue i have is the jumping as levels seem quite horizontal but the jump is very vertical with not much horizontal movement. would also be nice if the slide was a tad longer

also worth noting its a bit hard to see in the game (even with post processing and psx turned off) i dont know how to fix this as i dont know what causes this feeling for me but thought i would note

would be nice to be able to have a crosshair size slider and a slider for viewbob amount

im sure most of the general jank can be ironed out overtime tho

"The game play is amazing, it feels great to control, and the sounds and music is actually not bad, the only thing I really don't like is, your health will slowly drain if you're still inside the room and didn't kill the enemy,"

RollStep
RollStep

Lots of potential, but falls flat on some basics.

Movement could be a lot smoother, the concepts are there, but very messy.
Enemy AI is pretty mediocre.

The biggest issue I have is the fact that your pistol shots have a different trajectory based on your own movement. Extremely annoying and genuinely takes away from the gameplay that heavily incentiveses you to constantly move.

eeriedeeri
eeriedeeri

as much as i want to ((force)) myself into liking this game, the wonky movement, enemy hitboxes and sensitivity prevent me from doing so. you can easily get stuck in a loop of not having your movement go where you want it to, or your inertia just slowly sliding into a corner and letting your health drain. of the sensitivity, i had to set it to 120-ish to get a good feel, even then the response is weirdly slow. the drones can only be hit on the body and not their propellers, coupled with the last two issues makes it difficult to hit them. also wish kicking was a little more responsive.

in essense, the game doesn't feel snappy nor fluid enough to enjoy like the other fps games i've played. other than that, every other aspect of the game is great.

good game, but there are bugs where enemies spawn inside walls or in the floor, essentially making it impossible to win, if they add more variety, and a truly endless mode where i can indefinitely stack buffs, then this game will be so much fun!!!

At first this game was incredibly hard.

Then I learned the mechanics. Then I died, over an over and over and over etc.

Suddenly I found my groove. This game is something amazing. You hear games say "standing still is death"... well thats literally how this game works. If you arent moving your health/time bar is furiously rushing to its end.

The key in this game is to keep moving and sliding and dashing and jumping and ground slamming and kicking and so forth and so forth...

This is a very movement based game. Maybe one of the only games Ive seen that actually punishes the player for being sedintary at any point.

At first, I whined and complained. Then I settled in, and if you have the patience of me (an old boomer who has no more ability to move quickly), you will find an amazing fast paced rougelike that becomes easier with skill.

I proudly placed on the leader boards tonight. My first victory. After i whined for an easy mode lol..

Great game. You gotta Git Gud. Get it and Git Gud

Its what I expected from a game in early access.
My complaints are that Enemies feel the same and Rooms aren't that interesting.

Sometimes... You just want to shoot some stuff. Y'know? You're not down for an hour/s long play session with collectables and story and strategy and whatnot. You just want some rooms, and some guns, and some enemies, and to blast through a session in 5 or 10 minutes.

Welp, here you go; Force Reboot. You have guns, it's got robots, better introduce them to each other. And you better do it fast, because the game is geared towards, and in fact mechanically enforces, ultra-fast-paced action.

In the standard game mode, most of the actions takes place in health-draining zones, your HP rapidly ticking down even when you're not being hit; you have a few dozens seconds at most. Enemy attacks will of course hasten your demise, while killing enemies and clearing rooms bumps your health back up. So you HAVE to rush to survive. And that's fine, with speed-boosting slide and instant short-range dash-boosts, you're given plenty of tools to do that. You'll finish a floor in a minute or two, or you'll die.

Each floor starts off letting you choose from a random selection of buff/debuff pairs, mixing things up progressively. I always find it fun when an option comes up that feels like you're getting away with something, like getting a debuff such as taking damage every time you reload... With a buff like not _needing_ to reload. The most fun buff for me is probably 4 Guns, which exactly what it sounds like. How does our humanoid protagonist hold, fire, and reload four handguns at once? Doesn't matter, no time to think about that, let's go.

There's a smattering of other game modes as well. Arena is probably the most different, swapping the mad dash through corridors and rooms with facing waves of enemies in a single big arena, and picking 3 perks per wave that vanish for the next.

Look, I've only spent an hour with the game, and it's already money well spent. The dev is working on updates to keep things going (Easy Mode has been confirmed, which seems like it would be great for easing people in; this game is fast enough that it can feel at first a bit like trying to join a motorway from a dead stop, despite the handy tutorial), but for £2 and change, what more do you need?

Get it, it's a blast.

not a lot of content right now but its got some cool ideas and great style. it does a good job at forcing the player into making risky plays through an incentive to play very aggressively but at the same time the sense of danger can be easily dissipated by getting a broken set of perks in a run. plus a lot of the rooms feel the same, stage 2 does a better job by adding more vertical layouts. aside from that the movement can feel a bit odd sometimes but i feel that it was intentional since youve gotta balance your speed alongside your health. anyways if you dont wanna cough up 3 bucks for the game then try the demo!

fish

For starters, this game is CRIMINALLY underpriced. I would pay fifteen dollars for this and still find worth. Three dollars for this much fun is insane. It's not a huge game, and is linear, but is still incredible. When found this game, I just saw it on itch.io and saw it had a demo on steam. It was pretty fun, but has nowhere near as much content or polish. It was obviously made a while ago, but was still pretty fun. To end, I just want to emphasize how stupidly cheap this game is. I bought I just using 4 community market sales from tf2. This game is definitely an 8/10 from me.

The gunplay and movement in this game feels incredible, and the artstyle looks gorgeous, it's still in Early Access, so it's got limited ammounts of content, but new stuff is being added in a steady pace, and what *is* already there is more than worth it, especially considering the leaderboards have already been implemented, so you can grind for better times and scores in the 4 different gamemodes that are currently available. Overall, it's a great game, and I'm excited about what's next for it.

Precise, careful, ambitious and humile while understanding where it wants to go, you must pace yourself well, never stop racing and embrace the pleasure of losing, so you can sit back and learn what next venture could lead to endless arcade perfection.

Post Void but more fun, with a kickass PSX/Dreamcast aesthetic and a great song playing all the while

Deep customization with the buff/debuff system that forces you to really choose and super fast gameplay
Definitely recommend if you like shooters and/or roguelikes.

While I do love the game's art style and its concept, the controls are an absolute nightmare to use.

Ngl, really cool game but I have some stuff I would like to comment briefly

1 - The dash being physics influenced is kinda lame, I dunno if it's my ultrakill brain, but I feel like it should be mainly used to quickly change your momentum from one direction to another

2 - The first drone guy, I feel sometimes they have too much life? I dunno if it's just me, but the single shot drone being so tanky even if it's just 2 shots makes him kinda OP in the main game mode where if you miss him, he can gattling shot you to obilivion in the cramped spaces of the first floors.

I think from my first 2 hours that was the things I fell were the more annoyed me in the game, beside that, lots of fun

Stylish fast paced shooter at a very reasonable price. Really looking forward to what the future holds for this game.

Do you love the idea of movement shooters, but find yourself hating playing them because you can never react in time before instantly dying? Then this is the game for you!

Tired of rogue-likes where you need to carefully dodge every attack because healing items are few and far between? Well how about regenerating 1/10-1/5 of your health on every kill.

Hot DAMN does this game feel good, no long loads, no carefully peaking around corners, you just GO and yeah, you'll die, but then you just instantly load back into the action on a new run.

Even when i had a great build, I never felt awful on losing, because it's not like I spent 25 minutes getting to that point. no, i just spent 2 minutes of fast paced gun running, before biting the dust, and ill be right back here in 2 more.

10/10 fantastic game, fantastic price, give the demo a try if you feel hesitant.

Force Reboot has so much potential and I look forward to seeing the game grow. As it is now it is an all gas no breaks gotta go fast simulator. Live fast, kill fast, and move fast kind of deal.

Still very early to give a solid review, lots of things need work, BUT, for what we have now, it' still a very fun game with an unique idea. Lots of potential, it's worth to keep a look at it.
