An amazing side scrolling brawler type game that's fantastic to play with friends. It also contains tons of amazing brain-twisting puzzles that are very well done, but don't show up in the forefront of the marketing despite being a huge part of the game. I loved the puzzling aspect, so it was just a double win in my book.

too repetitive and very low budget. not even some voice over. and game forces you to play old levels again for the grind if you want to play another character.(to catch up on level)

Neat ideas. Way too hard. I think we found a puzzle? There were cryptic runes or a cryptic message. We moved on. I was struggling, and I felt bad for my co-op partner unfamiliar with the genre / similar mechanics. We gave up before long.

Absolutely underrated gem of a game, couldn't be happier to have found it.
Don't play this alone, gather 1 - 3 friends and play this game in co-op, it's much more fun this way.

This is one of my favorite couch co-op games.
The gameplay isn't too complicated, with plenty of exciting weapons/mechanics that scale with your ability to learn and adapt. If you like to micro-control your way around the enemies to kick their butts and show 'em who's the boss, then this is the game for you & your friends! My SO and I recently finished this game in NG+ mode. The last boss was challenging, and it took us many, many tries, but in the end, it was so rewarding :)

This game actually has a lot of potential, but it kills itself with just 1 mechanic.
So let's talk about what I like about this game before I tell you why I do not recommend playing this game.

The Good:
-Visually this game is beautiful to look at. So colorful, the animations are really well done. You can tell the devs put a lot of heart in this game, it's filled with personality.
-Game feel, amazing. The controls work well, all the different characters are unique and all have their own playstyle. They all really complement one another and it feels good to work as a team.
-Fun. This game IS fun. It is. "But why the bad recommend" You'll see. But honestly, You might have fun with this game. To a point.

(Dunno how the online plays, played locally with friends.)

The bad:
-Story is hilariously bad. Though they add an option to just skip all story scenes which is really neat, odd, but neat. Haven't seen that in a game before.
- THE COLORS. THE FUCKING COLOR MECHANIC

Ok so this is why I do not recommend this game, and literally what kills the game experience as a whole. The color mechanic. What is the color mechanic? So each of the characters has a specific color tied to them. Blue Red, Green, etc. So, often times, the enemies will have a "shield" around them of a specific color, and when they do, only the character of the same color can do damage to the enemy. To everyone else they will be invincible. Which, at first glance doesn't seem too bad, right? This is the most frustrating mechanic I have ever encountered in a game. In a good game, at least. It's not fun to not be able to do anything about the swarm of green enemies attacking you while your green teammate is getting ganged up on by red guys. It's not fun to be in the middle of attacking an enemy and they suddenly change colors and you can no longer hit them and they just hit you for free. It doesn't add any value to the gameplay, it's simply artificial difficulty and it should be an option to be removed from play. Seriously, I would happily finish and enjoy this game if this mechanic didn't exist. I don't know what the devs were smoking when they concocted such a deplorable mechanic but please, consider patching it out. If you enjoy artificial difficulty and being punished for basically nothing, go get your junk stepped on because I'd rather do that for 9 hours instead of picking this game up for a second.

It makes me sad, really. Because this game is SO FUCKING AMAZING if it weren't for just ONE mechanic. It's sad, ridiculous, and honestly I want to slap the developers. How dare you trash such a beautiful thing by adding literal garbage. 3/10 The characters are too fucking cool.

This game will push your cranium to the limits. Or your 3 friends. I recommend as an online or couch co op. I thoroughly enjoyed the fighting, the puzzles, and getting dragged through the game by my smarter friends.

Artrinary

The game is aesthetically pleasing to look at and it is fun at times. However, the COLORS mechanics forces you to use Crips, Bloods, Hippies, and Oranges to break those corresponding shield color. Its sluggish and aggravating to switch and bait for solo runs. I cannot recommend.

Incredibly high difficulty spike around the 6th or so level. In the context of couch coop with a group who haven't played this game before, this makes the game not enjoyable at all.

Extremely fun game. Castle Crashers like and reeeeeally fun. Great skill based , great difficulty. Just a great 10/10 game of this type/genre.

AReasonWhy

Cute arstyle, good music and a lot of good natured humor.
The main cast is 4 dope ladies with character.
The coop gameplay is focused on working together in tandem. One such mechanic are enemy shields that can only be attacked by certain players, so it doesn't turn into a mindless grinder. There are also some some RPG progression mechanics.

Bought this game expecting only a few hours of fun with friends, end up playing/grinding for more than 20 hours. The game is fun and the game is hard. Giving you the purpose to grind out the upgrades, or git gud. Overall a pleasant surprise and would recommend anyone who wishes to have some fun and challenge with friends.

Probably the best co-op game you've never played. I've seen it described as a beat-em-up, but it really doesn't control anything like a typical one, and each of the four classes are significantly different from one another.

Tons of secrets, playstyle customization, and persistent progression elevate this far above arcadey action. Don't know why the second game from the team that made Rogue Legacy did so poorly.

Great Game.
Well worth the money. I am going to have fun a long time with this one.

Every things is well made and well though. It's fun to play, it's challenging (not too easy not too hard).

The gameplay is excellent. it is carefully balanced to reward good positioning and timing from the players. visual cues and UI are crystal clear. The developper paid attention to what matters and it shows.
The character customisation (items, skill tree) is cool

Other element of the game (graphic, story, music ) ranges from OK to Great depending on personal taste.

Only negative point : a bit too much farm involved to unlock upgrades. Still the developper took steps to mitigate that (ex: bosses drop gold at certain health threshold that you keep even if you die)

Only bug found : dialog are played every time, even in the "Only Once" mode.

Full Metal Furries is a generic side-scroller shoot-em-up. Maybe you love that kind of stuff. But if you enjoy innovative games to play with friends, then you should add this game to your ignore list and refresh the co-op genre store page.

Excellent co-op beat-'em-up to play with friends! If you're looking for a co-op game and the idea of smacking enemies to death at all sparks joy, pick this up. I found the writing and story in the game engaging, and the combat was fun, but I especially enjoyed the puzzles scattered throughout; they're a good mix of clever, varied, and "once you figure out the solution you know what you're doing" that's essential for good puzzles. Overall, I really enjoyed playing through the campaign and I'm glad we got to finish it ^^

Very cute fun game that can be fun solo and co-op, has some replayability for having puzzles and 4 characters to level up. The game can be very weird on keyboard and mouse so i'd recommend a controller wholeheartedly. I'd give it a 7/10 for overall entertainment.

It's gameplay is fun for both single-player and multiplayer runs but after 4 hours I lost my curiosity for new challenges, guns, skills etc. Every level started to being casual and enemies getting predictable. If you want to try a new game that does not demand hours of effort and is fun to play with friends, I recommend it.

This game is a highly underrated hidden gem. Must buy for me.

Artwork is great
Animation is fine
Story and character dialog is funny and never consumes heavy amount of a player's time
Characters are funny
Mechanics are interesting
Local + online 1-4 players is sweet
Bosses and levels are challenging
Puzzles actually makes you THINK

The game plays almost like a soft bullet hell mixed in with a brawler genre. It's such a interesting concept. Colour coded enemy bubbles appear indicating it must be hit by a certain player, this increases the tension of the game play. You'll be on the edge of your seat if you play as sniper when trying to snipe a last second bomb from exploding.

I'd love to see a sequel to this.

Why is this game not more popular? It's a blast! Wonderful cooperative experience but works well as a single-player experience too. "Cellar Door Games" deserves all the praise for making such a fun game. It's well written too. Devs thought about everything. Don't enjoy some of the conversations between characters? There's an option to disable them so you focus only on the action. The game is really brilliant sometimes with some really clever puzzles and bits of comedy which for sure will make you laugh. From the moment me and my friends started to play it we couldn't put it down. I came home today and bought the game immediately. This game deserves more love.

I've been playing for 8 hours with 3 friends. Potentially one of the best games I've done in co-op. Learning curve is great and difficulty is well balanced (I like difficult games). 10/10 would recommend.

Rochelle

This is a fun, and decently playable co-op game, that even has a somewhat interesting story.
But despite this I can't honestly recommend it: It has a VERY unfinished alpha build vibe and a lot of straight up missing or badly implemented features.

If you can get it for cheap, and overlook a LOT of jank and clunky design, I'd wager you could still have some fun with it. There are a lot a good of parts in there, good graphics and writing among others, but they're kinda overshadowed by the half-finished ones.

Honestly, this is an amazing game. I'm sad that it's gone under the radar for years and I only knew about it due to these devs other game, Rogue Legacy 2.

It reminds me of Castle Crashers and how it felt to play it with friends years and years ago. It's a little more chaotic than Castle Crashers, but its definitely refined.

There are four individual classes each with 4 kinds of equipments (primary attack, secondary actions, movement skill, and power skill). Each of those equipments has 4 different kinds that can be unlocked that give different effects. This combined with the air crit functionality, leveling mechanic, profile wide stats, and more make this game a repeat for me. I would have many more hours if my friend group had more time to play as every time we're on, we want to play this.

10/10, definite recommend, tell your friends. Worth every penny.

The humor is a bit puerile at points, but the gameplay is top-notch. Each character has a variety of offensive and defensive moves, often with cooldowns to avoid spamming. The controls are tight and enemies have clear tells for when they're going to attack, but what makes the combat stand out is the use of colored shields that can only be removed by attacks from a particular character. This system requires coordination of different characters so a single character can't carry the team (in single player you choose two characters and toggle between them). This necessary coordination does make the game quite challenging, since if one character falls you need to revive them in order to complete the mission, but the game is never frustrating and every victory feels earned.

rymdmaud

While the gameplay is both fun and challenging it has too many frustrating issues. Playing online co-op was fine the first session but then turned to a laggy mess to the point that we had to abandon the in-game multiplayer lobby system and play with Steam's remote play feature to be able to finish the game. Adding to the frustration, the in-game options lacks many features that I would consider standard for any game released in the past 10 years.

great beat em up that can be played solo or co-op. the mechanics are really tight and fun, stages are challenging and require skillful play, the puzzles are...hard. get this game especially if you're looking for a co-op title.

Difficult but satisfying. The writing is smartly written and mostly comedic. It's been a blast playing this with my kids (6-10 yrs old). My favorite brawler in terms of compelling gameplay—for me it beats Castle Crashers, which is more of a fun but dumb brawler RPG.

In fact, most brawlers seem dumb compared to this one. By dumb, I mean the actual fighting mechanics don't even compare. The game takes skill. We die a lot. But it's still so fun, and it really rewarding and exciting when we finally defeat that boss or baddie wave.

If you like games like Castle Crashers, Turtles in Time, etc, but are ready for a step up to something where button mashing doesn't win fights, Full Metal Furies is the game you've been looking for.

Core gameplay is really fun and challenging (if you want the hardest challenge play as sniper on the gamepad)

There is also a opportunity for secret-hunting and puzzle-solving... Which is fun as well

Was introduced to this game through a friend.
We started with 3 player co-op until we could find a 4th.
It was a blast and the only down side is we've yet to be able to find another game that matches it in terms of play and charm.

Thunder Dex

The game has very nice concepts and riddles, the character are unique, and interesting progression tree, however the game is awkward to play for mouse and keyboard, especially the sniper. (Maybe they'll fix it later)

Got this game to play with three other friends, and sometimes the characters feels a bit unbalanced, with the engineer having a terrible reload, while the other characters mash up everything else.

The color circle is cool, but seems a very lazy way to make sure all characters are used, rather than teamwork where different skills can be used to help each teammate, maybe a little.

In the end, its an fun coop game, but for single player - mouse and keyboard experience, I would not have bought it.

Hands down one of (if not the) best co-op multiplayer games I've ever played. The trailer makes the game look like it might be a simple beat 'em up at times, but each team member has a very unique play-style accompanied by unlockable moves to customize your character.

I won't spoil anything secret wise, but let me tell you that this game makes you WORK for some of the puzzles. Try to challenge yourself and your friends and don't look anything up!

This game is surprisingly good! It has a slow start, and I expected to only play it for the occasional co-op. Once you get more equipment to play around with though it's very fun (maybe even more so) in single player, and thankfully not as overwhelming as I thought it would be. If you play carefully, it's not that hard either, and is pretty intuitive - you really don't need to be pulling off constant class switching combos the game tells you about early. There's also a lot of incentive to try different characters and they're all great.
While the page and the early game don't reveal it, there's also a lot of puzzles in this game - they make for a pretty good change of pace, and some are very creative. And hey, the internet is there if it's not your type of thing and just want keep fighting,
There's some nitpicks like the game not quite feeling "perfect" to play like Rogue Legacy did, being slower, which is something most people will probably compare this game to. The shields can also go from a challenge to an annoyance if the character who needs to hit them keeps dying. In general though, I'd say this game is not far off from Rogue Legacy, and maybe even a hidden gem for how good it is - it's well worth a purchase.

At first, FMF is a beat them all with nice gimmicks.
Then you unlock one secret, understand that there is many more and it becomes a puzzle game.
Then you unlock NG+ and it's back to beat them all but with tactical cooperation.

And all along, a nice story, funny dialogs and catchy tunes.
Pobably one of the best coop game.

It makes me so sad to hear that this game was not well-received upon release! Truth be told, I only found it by accident when checking-out Rogue Legacy 2 upon release, and checking the creator's other titles out of curiosity. My wife and I love this game so far and have played about 12 hours in the past 3 days!

I haven't done much research, but when I saw the creator's desperate plea for critics to use their puzzle docs for the secrets throughout the game, I was so sad -- hopefully they found success after the fact!

Archados

IMHO a better title than rogue legacy, and rogue legacy is an amazing series. I can't speak much for the single player aspect of the game, but if you have friends to play this with, then it is undoubtedly one of the best coop games that you experience.

Then pick up this game now, it ain't perfect but 1. it needs more love 2. there're very small so i would say pick it up! WARNING: online works for friends only! A mostly great, co-op focused game that is unfortunately marred by the devs love of obscure puzzles. They're aware of this fact, but I still feel bad for them because they made the game they wanted to make and not many people knew about it or bought it. Dunno if I should blame the marketing or reviewers for not giving it a fair shake, but 2018 was kind of a saturated time for indie games. Anyway, here are the things I liked and didn't like about Full Metal Furies.

-----Pros-----
-Tight gameplay. Solo lets you play as two characters with a quick button swap, multiplayer allows for up to 4 and is really how the game is intended to be played.
-All playable characters feel unique and have tools that complement each other.
-Sound effects and animations are great, they sell the impact of hits / shots / explosions. Bosses look really great.
-Game is very well-paced from start-to-finish. Levels aren't long and you're unlocking things at a nice clip so you never feel bogged down by anything (except the puzzles).
-Great value for the price. Game launched at a fair price and it's even better if you can snag it on sale.
-The writing got me to chuckle a few times.

-----Cons-----
-Can get needlessly difficult, even frustrating, especially on levels off the main path and some of the later bosses. Thankfully the game has generous checkpoints and you keep any gold/XP you earned in the fight you died on, but it can still feel like an insurmountable challenge, sometimes. Eliminating one aspect of grinding =/= well-balanced encounters.
-The game hides TOO MUCH from the player. You can get through the main story if you're good enough, but you'll be missing a LOT of content, including the many secrets, multiple endings, and additional gear for your characters. The devs themselves even agreed it was a bad idea to hide 50% of the game. I admire their ambition, but it does hurt the experience overall.
-The wealth of dialogue sometimes breaks the flow of playing the game with friends, and the story isn't really THAT interesting to justify it.
-Playing single-player works decently enough, but you constantly feel at a disadvantage against the enemy combinations midway through the game. God help you if you picked Sniper by yourself.

I had a really good time with Full Metal Furies, and I'd recommend it to friends or if you have friends willing to play it with you. I'd also recommend having a guide on hand so you can actually enjoy the other half of the game. 8/10.

This game is super charming, and it's just fun to play. I originally started playing on my PC. When I started to play it on my steamdeck the game got MUCH better. I like that I can just focus on using the characters I enjoy too. It's a fun game in single player. I haven't done multiplayer on this yet, but I imagine it's fun that way too. If you want a fun game to just chill and laugh with this is a great choice!

I wanted a multiplayer game with a coop campaign and this was definitely a great find, similar to Castle Crashers or other multiplayer beat 'em up games but IMO much more fun than that one, with very distinct characters.

The Punchening
The Punchening

Let's address an aspect of this game that a lot of people dance around when they see you playing it:

"The Furies" were female cthonic deities of vengeance. This is not what the average person puts together when they misread the title; we live in sad times.

Why did the developers fixate on obscure Greek Mythology? Functionally, the entire premise of the game is built around it. These devs did an incredible job of crafting this game so it could stand on its own. There are a few games I can think of *like* this game, or that share certain aspects, but none of them come close to this model, and damn is it fun.

The tone flows from humorous slapstick and wit in the writing/dialogue, to curious exploration, to a sense of awe and mystery with the secrets the game has to uncover, and finally to the high excitement of pulling through a difficult fight alongside your friends.

Each of the 4 characters has a distinct play-style. There's a bit of leeway as you unlock additional pieces of gear to master, and each piece individually can drastically alter your real-time approach to a combat situation. The game requires a high player skillset (or at the very least, competent friends). Adding character levels on top of this places the game in the "simple to learn, difficult to master" category.

Sound design is on point. Every character has at least one move that has satisfying "punch" to it (typically launching enemies skyward). The music is excellent. Overall, the game feels extremely cohesive; every aspect of it compliments all other aspects.

Disclaimer: You're gonna die, but it's part of the fun, and you get to keep every bit of weapon xp and gold that you earn/pick up.

Death can only delay vengeance slightly, after all.

That game was a "massive failure" for Cellar Door Games (their words, not mine). We can guess that failure is why they choose to go on far more safer Rogue Legacy 2 for their next game. And though I love Rogue Legacy, it's a shame because Full Metal Furies is fantastic. An amazing coop game and far more than that. Like the trailer says: "not your typical brawler". If you have friends, give that game the love he deserves. If you don't have friends, make friends, and give them and that game the love they deserve.

It's rare for me to write reviews for games, but when faced with an underrated gem like this one, with a player base far smaller than it deserves, I feel obligated to tell the world about it.

At the time of writing, I have just finished the game (true ending), and I can say: what a masterpiece.

If you're not a fan of puzzles, you can still have tremendous fun with the fast-paced bullet hell action combat, but if you're a fan of fast-paced combat AND puzzles, this is the game for you. The combat is one of the most fun I've played - very well thought and fleshed out, with just enough variety to keep it interesting to the very end without becoming overwhelming. The puzzles, while a bit scary at first, are VERY engaging and creative, and make you think outside the box every step of the way. If you're not a big fan of puzzles, don't let that stop you, you can just google the answers and have fun anyway, but I urge you to at least try a few just so you can appreciate their beauty.

One of the best features of this game, which has become something very rare to find: it has couch co-op. That means you can play with your family or friends locally, on the same computer or console, as long as you have an extra controller or mouse/keyboard. And it's not just local co-op, it's also online co-op. I got my brother and sister to play with me and all 3 of us were having a blast. Team work is one of the most fun aspects of this game.

Give this game a try. It's cheap and quite simple to play. Invite your friends, maybe your family. Most importantly, have a good time. It's many hours of challenging fun and goofy humor.

Lot of potential here and I really want to like it, but it feels so imprecise for what it is, Example: When enemies drop an explosive, the game shows you the circle which the explosive will affect. When you stand below or to the side of the explosion, outside of the circle, you will be fine. But, if you stand above the circle and are touched by the smoke cloud VFX of the explosive, you will take damage. This is just the easiest example, but I ran out of patience taking damage from things that I didn't actually seem to be close to. That and it's only frustrating playing the sniper when solo. Not hard, just annoying.

Great gameplay, lots of variety, even more bad puns. Would definitely by again.

The gameplay is awesome at the beginning and evolves beautifully over the course of the game. The basic loadouts and moves are pretty cool. As things progress, learn to use combos to kick some serious butt. The loadouts get quite varied by the end of the game, so there's a lot of fun experimentation and new combos to discover. Overall, very well thought-out and you can tell the devs put some heart into it.

Lots of cool visuals scattered throughout the game. A few levels have unique mechanics that add a healthy dose of levity.

Multiplayer is a lot of fun, but players need to be at comparable skill levels. Great multiplayer game to get into with others, but not so good for parties.

The humor in Full Metal Furies is typically better than in the Rogue Legacy titles by the same devs.
