Galaxy On Fire 2 is a very fun game of intense science fiction PVE. I would highly recommend this game to everyone, because of its great graphics and fun storyline.

overall great game i would say get it on sale though since the game is pretty short and they ported the game and no DLC but besides that great game

This is what a space game should be like. I caught it on sale, but it's worth the full price. The big-name game companies could learn a few lessons from these folks.

You propably want this game :>

Okay so this is the regular Galaxy on Fire 2 which you may or may not have played on your iPod 4g back in the day (like it did) and it is still AMAZING. You can buy your own ship, customize primary and secondary weapons, turrets and equipement. There is the Hangar where you buy stuff the the space lounge (my personal favourite ^^) where you buy stuff from people who wanna scam you with overly expensive products, dont know the actual prices (so you can scam them hehe) and weird people who sell exclusive items like blueprints or coordinates for new systems you can then travel to.
The story is cool and manages to be an immersive sci-fi-experience while being a spoof of the same genre (similar to Kingsmen for secret-agent-movies). Its fully dubbed with good voicechangers for the aliens (so you can actually still understand them lol), different accents for species AND factions and also the voiceactors put enough effort into it so you can imagine the story happening with only still frames of the characters' faces in front of you.
Something i have to mention is the epic orchestral soundtrack. At this point i should mention that i may have x amount of playhours on pc but i played the mobile version of this game for over 200h, so i may have more experience than is seems. I say this because back in the day the quality of the music was limited to the audio-card of your mobile device. On pc the soundtrack is crisper than ever before. I coul actually hear new stuff in the music which i didnt notice before just because of audio quality. Not to mention every faction has their own theme for their territory and space station. This also applies to weapons, equipement and ships - there even are some items in the game which do not belong to one of the four factions (not including pirates as a faction), which were a clever way of the gamedesigners to add extra worldbuilding and immersiveness.

Flip it, i dont know what else to say. Ah, the gameplay. After getting comfortable with the controls its smooth and doesnt pose a problem. Depending on the difficulty settings its harder or easier to hit enemies but overall you can adjust to that aswell.

Now, after praising the game, here are things i would improve or change:
1. Weapons should have more range because it takes too long to get to your enemies before you can hit them
2. You should be able to directly travel to a planet or system from the "show on map" tab when you check your mission
3. it sucks you cant have more than one non-story-mission at a time
4. THIS GAME IS TOO GOOD AND I NEED MORE OF IT PLEASE ADD THE ADD-ONS AS DLC PLEASE

To summarize - i cant recommend this game enough to anyone who like scifi or just a cool well-made game.

(PS.: why do all the Vossk stations look the same?)

There's such a great feeling of wheeling amongst dozens of enemy craft, cruisers and carriers. I could do without the cut scenes and just play the sections. It's like Elite, but way friendlier to play.

I played this game a ton on my phone way back when, was a real blast. The DLCs made it a worthwhile experience for sure, but the fact they aren't here kinda...stinks. There's no way to get them, and in endgame there's basically nothing to do. A good time waster if you wanna spend like two hours, but other than this this game isn't much to look at...i mean, considering it's a port of a mobile game. Concepts, universe and designs are all pretty solid tho so at least there's that.

This is still an amazing game, despite its age. Great story. Cool trading system and combat. Graphics are pretty good too. I just really, REALLY wish you could get the DLCS which you can normally get on the mobile version, because the game is a bit short (I'd say around 10-20 hrs of playtime).

I played through the IOS version multiple times. Still a thoroughly fun game on PC. Easier to control the ship. Hoping they add the DLCs. I would recommend this game.

Awesome game. And yes, the lack of all DLCs does make it "worse" than Mac OS, iOS, or Android version, but the game is still very enjoyable. Personally I think that this game is even better on PC with mouse and keyboard controls and if you own like a 2k or 4k monitor the way the game looks is just amazing. Big respects to the developers and (just like Half-Life 3) maybe one day Steam version will see the same DLCs as the versions mentioned above did.

the game is a good challenge but lacks the DLCs for which the phone version has and I would love to see them added on the pc version and there is a Galaxy on fire 3 but it's phone only again would love to see on pc

This game is great fun, not a steep learning curve to begin with and achievements are gained relatively quickly. The graphics are great, it's a low-powered game, great to sink plenty of hours into. Its a pity the missions tend to be very samey but if you don't mind that, get into it! Edit: They really need to include the DLC. Also the ending was embarrassing.

KV50
KV50

This game is incredibly fun, and extremely satisfying. Despite being developed many years ago, its graphics are still top quality, and the though the gameplay may be lacking for some, I personally love the small sub-games within it, such as the extensive trading, mining etc. In terms of equipment and weaponry, there is a clear path to better gear, because you can see the better versions of almost anything stocked in space station hangars.
The plot might be a bit shallow, but I enjoy visiting all the different solar systems, almost like free roam. There are also tons of freelance missions to explore too. Overall, I would definitely recommend this game if you're looking for a game which is kind of niche, and very sci-fi.
Things to look out for: If there's a sale on for this game, get it, because $14 might be too expensive for some people. Also, if you do all the campaign missions one after the other, the game won't last very long for you. There's no DLCs unlike the mobile version, so keep that in mind. But overall it is a very good quality game.

This game is pretty decent! i mean that with all respect, its really enjoyable to say the least. as for a GPD WIN 2 user, its a perfect add to my collection. it runs really smooth, doesn't need much battery power either. after a minute it seems a little repetitive, but that's kinda the fun too; its just so laid back and casual.

Well, the game was a fun grind, visually nice... then I discover that the automatic turret I've been shopping around for doesn't exist except in DLC that is NOT available on the PC. That is a bit disappointing.

Otherwise fun, though the controller support needs work. I picked this up on a sale and took it off the back shelf to mess around with it, started to enjoy it, only to discover it's been relatively abandoned here in PC land.

As far as ported mobile games go, this one isn't bad. Though, it seems the devs didn't bother to port all the DLC content, meaning there's only so far you can go with it. If you're looking for a space sim to tide you over while Star Citizen keeps teasing, this will last you a week or two.

kevinbowles612

This game is a poor man's Freelancer, which is not a bad thing. The DRM is baffling considering you can download this game on Android free with the same content, so you will need a stable internet connection to play at all times, even though there is no multiplayer. Still, it's not as tedious as the X games and offers good control as long as you use a mouse.

Captain-Scruffy
Captain-Scruffy

I started playing this on a Fire Tablet. I wondered how it would port to the PC but I shouldn't have. The action, missions, and main story line are the same. You can set difficulty through a range of settings - so start out on the easier one then return and challenge yourself at a more difficult setting. Bounty Hunter, Merchant, Militia Backup and more - the missions are interesting and the built-in political influence system will keep you on your toes. Enjoy!

This game is awesome, great graphics, audio track is ok. Mining in very interactive unlike most games. Space combat and flight is very well done. I do wish they had a speed indicator for each ship as they all seem to be slow. I don't recommend taking "kill the most pirates" challenges until you have a good afterburner.

There are no DLC's for the PC version so you cannot get to the Kaamo Club in the Shima System. Really wish they would continue the PC development. They are now owned by another company with no sign of interest in this game.

I do see that the Shima and Kaamo Club resources are in the directory. Hoping someone can find a way to turn it on. Is this abandon ware yet?

Mostly I like building up the ship. The main mission is over pretty quick. The game isn't that challenging either. It starts out a bit tough. Once you get a hang of controlling the ship and perform some upgrades. Enemies aren't that challenging anymore.

If you like Freelancer. This is sort of a Freelancer lite. Mainly I was just looking for another game with the same type of gameplay. Which it delivers. Just without the complexity.

It would be better if the main mission was longer. Now I have a souped up ship and just a bunch of simple station missions to blow through.

Cool game for the short story it has. Love the ship customization and combat. Would be better if it didn't crash so often though.

FoxFort

Such a great game, eventhough it's at the moment 8 years old it still looks good, a bit dated look but good.
Gameplay is really, really simple. Arcade figthing, you can mine astroids, transport goods from location to locations, transport people, space dogfights, space fight against capital ships. Upgrading your ship, buying better ship. Creating new aliances, story can go into different ways. All of this for diry cheap price of a game. It has a very simplistc design, voice acting is good, there are no cinematic just a simple voice acting and it's good. Story wise is okay, nothing special about it.

I remember playing this game almost 8 years ago for the first time and it's still good and relevant today. This game was primary made for smartphones and I also have it on my smartphone. But make no mistake this is not a poor port, they actually properly made this game playable on PC. I prefer playing this game with mouse and keyboard far more than on my smartphone with touchscreen. Which is why PC version is actually easier to play compared to smartphone.

Game is very good to layback and just enjoy, play on Normal settings and you'll have a fun and simple control game.

This game is really fun to play! It was really cool to be in dogfights in space, fight pirates, rivalling factions, take on different kinds of jobs (transport, escort, pirate hunting, trade, etc) and be able to buy new weapons and tools and upgrade your ship. I really hope there is a GOF3!!!

This is a gem of an arcade style space action/trader game.
Its aged very well, both video and audio. The in-game characters, although simply expressed, are fun. Games atmosphere is relaxing and it plays on almost any computer nowadays.
I defensively recommend this games, its got and engaging and fun story and game mechanics, good both for several minutes and a couple of hours play time.

I loved Galaxy on Fire 2 (and the first Galaxy on Fire as well) ever since I first played it on my Samsung phone YEARS ago and I still enjoy GoF 2 on both smartphone and PC today. Which brings me to the only downside of the PC version, the lack of the DLC content like we have on mobile, on mobile I bought all of the DLCs and I just can't stop playing. Now back to the PC version, it's graphics were slightly improved and the gameplay itself is also very nice and almost makes you literally dive into the game. I'm not sure if it's worth the original price though, but when it's on sale you should definitely go for it.

Electronic
Electronic

It´s a decent game even though it´s a port from a mobile game. Visuals and sounds are good, the handling of the ship is as simple as I wanted, and the main character is quite relatable although flat as a sheet of paper.

There´s the main missions and the side missions (attack, escort, transport, etc.). You can also mine asteroids for minerals and also salvage different things from the ships you destroy, and later trade them at the stations - it is awesome when you find something that is highly valuable and can increase your chances of getting a better ship. But it´s a kind of a lottery, really. Missions are the certain way of getting specific amounts of cash.

So I took the time to try to buy a better ship when I noticed the campaign was nearing the end. Almost three hours grinding. It paid off. Now I have a pretty decent ship (not the best, but not the worst at all), I saved the galaxy, got the girl, and have all the side missions that I want to do.

By the way, this was one one the few games I´ve played this year that made me want to go back and keep playing after completing the main storyline campaign. (Strike Vector EX was another one, but it´s more of a Mechs game)

So if you want a spaceship, no fuss, no hyper-complex sim, borderline arcade, sandbox game, this might hit the spot. Plus it´s cheap.

It's a good game, I enjoyed it and even played trough a couple of times. I would have liked to see it expanded upon with a lot more content. It's a great game for the price and I would recommend it.

Very much like other space fighter/trader/miner games which I like, but the fact that I have to be online and active in steam to begin the game every time is a non-starter. Also the turrets do not have an automatic fire option because the valkyrie add on is not available on the pc.

Sincere Gear
Sincere Gear

I played this game a lot on my iPad years ago, and it is a very fun space fighter/trader/miner game relative to other mobile space games at the time. However, I currently do not recommend the Steam version. The base game is free on Android and iOS and includes purchasable DLCs. The Steam version is $8 for just the base game, and the developers don't plan to include any of the DLCs any time soon. If the game was only $2 to $3, then it might be worth it, but as of now, you would get more for your money if you just play the game on mobile and use the $8 to buy the DLCs on mobile.

Marsagrippa
Marsagrippa

I really wish Steam had a 5-star rating system instead of thumbs up or down. If there were 5 stars, I'd give this 2. There's no sense of being in a serious dogfight here, you just align on the next enemy and shoot, and they go boom. That's assuming you can find the enemy, given the mediocre display setup. The shame is that it wouldn't take much to fix these things, but with a gameplay loop this repetitive, medium-sized problems become big ones. I give this game a resounding meh. Too bad, space fighter sim is such an under-served market these days.

Failracer
Failracer

Shame that it's essentially an unfinished version of the game. The story itself is extremely short (mostly due to the lack of DLCs on PC). Some features like strafing replacing swiping from mobile and absence of autocomplete blueprints function are pretty questionable. Otherwise it's very entertaining, easy to get into and diverse enough to spend a fair share of time on it, despite some side missions being quite repetitive. And it's also very fun and broken (quite a few glitches to take advantage of), hence why it's p fun to speedrun.

Babdser
Babdser

I love this game sooooooo much I have loved it for years and when i bought it on pc i was hoping for all the dlc to be purchasable to honestly if you make all the dlc on pc to i bet this game would see alot more attention i would rate it five stars but i cant for this reason, please put dlc on pc

ddoerr

My favorite space flight simulator. Too bad they didn't make any DLC's for the PC version as they did on the mobile platforms.
LIKES: Easy to learn controls & not too many to learn. Many ships & weapons to upgrade without too much grinding. This game will provide hours of fun & not crazy hard. Missions start out easy giving you time to learn the controls learning about weapons, shields & other ship items. As you progress with upgrades the game actually gets easier but still is a challenge.

DISLIKES: The makers stopped updating/ making DLC's for the PC version due to lower than expected sales after the initial release & only updated the mobile platforms. So the PC version lacks some of the best content. Not having the ability to unlock locked targets, making it too easy to fire on non-enemies. Turrents are completely useless in the PC version, unlike the mobile version.

Snoucher
Snoucher

(TLDR: this game is more easier on PC) It's one of those games we all played as kids. All of the base content is here but the DLC is missing. It's a common complaint. but that's you have to deal with. This game has some quality of life over the mobile versions. Like for instance they haven't gouged the price in the market, so you wouldn't grind for the item you wanted. And the controls are sooooo good. You have to play on extreme to even have a challenge. Even then the cloak is a get out of jail free card. So you don't loose everything. But i recommend Everspace 2 over this. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1128920/EVERSPACE_2/
But if you wish to play with the DLC you might want to try this.

Loved it on mobile and love it on PC too, it is unfortunate that the expansions weren't ported.

Galaxy on Fire 2 perfectly melds just enough exploration, combat, story, and ship building, without over-burdening you with micro managing and complex combat controls.

Hopefully the expansions will be released someday.

This is my second play through, chasing the 100% achievement. Would seriously recommend for anyone that likes an easy game, which is set in space. Plenty to do, without being tiresome.

Franchise is functionally dead. Creators moved on and Devs don't want anything to do with GOF, both have left this to die a meaningless death. I have hundreds of hours in the mobile version. Good game and beautiful to look at even today with a charming storyline, but incredibly short (seeing as they only ported the core game to PC). Wish better was done for this franchise.

Woli_Woli
Woli_Woli

It's an alright game, but it's never going to get any of the DLC that mobile has and the controls haven't aged well. I enjoy grindy games that have an obvious reward for your effort like this one, but the world is under-developed and the story is so flat that after my work is done, I feel like I have a gold trophy in an empty room. After beating this game I want more, but can't recommend it because we won't get more on PC and GoF 3 for mobile blows.

Lazypete

Really enjoying this game. If you like to build your space ship by farming, trading and attacking, this is your game.

Unfortunately the DLCs that were available on the mobile versions are not available here. Therefore, only playing the story missions, may lead to a very early end of the game. Smh, the side missions can become repetitive, but I like the atmosphere, hence its fine for me. I got it on retail and on discount its def worth every penny.

Genuinely one of the greatest Space Sim games eve, even if the controls are a little basic. Best mobile game I ever played and honestly deserving of being on a full fledged PC. Just play it. Seriously.

AstronomicA
AstronomicA

A textbook example of "Good Game, Bad Port".

Think of this as a mobile version of Freelancer (or Elite Dangerous if you've never heard of that) ported directly to pc. It's fun, engaging, exactly what a mobile game needs to be. When you port a game to PC though, there are a few things that you need to change besides the bare essentials. The UI, for example. It's functional, but far too small on most displays since the UI elements are a fixed resolution; the options do not include any kind of UI scaling options. If you have a 4K monitor you're going to have to lower the resolution to be able to read anything.

Then there is the DLC, or rather, the lack therof. The varios dlc's that came out on IOS and Android were never ported to this version, which is a pretty good indicator on how much effort was put into this port. One key feature that was added in the Valkyrie DLC was automatic turrets, a godsend compared to the clunkyness of manually switching to your turret and controlling it instead of being able to control your ship. Worse still, you can't bind turret mode to a key; you have to click in the scroll wheel to open the ui, then click the button on the bottom right.

All this taken together you end up with a version of the game that is objectively inferior to the mobile original, despite the admittedly nice looking HD facelift. But even a worse version is still a great game!

Ortheyus
Ortheyus

Like space games? but don't like the bloat that typically comes with them?

Galaxy on Fire 2 is a good middle point. Has more going on than just a standard dog fighter, like story, faction rep, mining, delivery and taxi missions. However, it doesn't go into a full on space sim keeping allot of the systems light and accessible.

The game ends up acting as a nice mid point between the other two space game extremes. Took me around 14 hours to complete the main story but could spend more for full completionists.
