I don't know why but it's extremely hard for me to really get in to a game. I started this earlier in the year and didn't finish it until October. The game is really fast paced and keeps you focused all the way through. It's very challenging but it'ls also forgiving in that it let's automatically retry areas upon death. My inspiration for completing this game, in my opinion, had something to do with all the speedrunners I use to watch on YouTube. It doesn't matter how many times you fail as long as you keep trying! Good practice makes perfect. My piano teacher used to say that.

The tetris part of the game was reeling me in. That was my favorite part of the game where you can put as many upgrades on as you can as long as the pieces in the upgrade menu fit. That made me want to keep on playing. It's fast paced and I don't know if I have ADHD but it was so fun that I finished it in a day and a half. That's rare for me. Feels like Shadow Warrior. It's also a puzzle game and I like puzzles if it's fun, so there's that. Puzzles aren't too hard, but satisfying.

Would I play it again? Probably. I'm not crazy about it but it sure kept my attention going. I'm also pushing 30 so now I have to be more mature and shit which I'm kinda sad for because I used to have more patience for games and now I just don't have time for stealth or that 'take it slow' crap.

Actually a pretty underrated game, however you gotta have a crazy pc for the good graphics part of it.

Really good fast movement based game, people who like apex, titan-fall and other movement games should like this game as well. Good Job developers!

Very good action parkour game. If you want to challenge this game is fun and action is so at the point.

Athmosphere is so good that I never felt so in game other than ds and skyrim.
They nailed the every bit of the action part. animations are so smooth etc.

Too many bugs( not that it disrupts gameplay that much because you can restart from checkpoint easily but annoying at times )
Music gets boring after 4-5 hour playtime
game is short
Not enough boss encounters.( too many potential but not enough done )

overall 37/50 -> 74/100
atmoshpehe 10/10
gameplay 10/10
difficulty annoying
music 6/10
playtime 5/10
stability(bugs) 6/10

This game fucking slaps. Has a case of sticky feet and I end up wall-running when I don't want to, occasionally my hitbox feels a little too large, but minor complaints. Fast, tight, and fun.

although the boss fights were pretty underwhelming, I really enjoyed the story and time challenges. getting all collectibles and sword skins is really easy if youre taking the time to search for them. module system was a fun little touch.
the gameplay was really fun and the difficulty perfect.
i dont really like having to buy the dlc to get all the achievements though.
the graphics were okay and the city was the highlight of the world design
overall, its pretty expensive considering its a rather short game so i recommend getting it in a sale

Has a very nice style and visual to it, audio is great, both the effects and the music. The gameplay if you like the quick phased style is fantastic. Haven't played many other games like this but I have really enjoyed my time in this game.

from the start it was a bit hard to master and it took me a lot of attempa to get through each level but i really enjoyed the experience it is however not the best game for your office computer because of it's high graffecs qaolity but you should be able to play it but be careful if you have a low end computer because it will lag your computer but other than that it was a great game.

1st boss is ass but game is fun until you start to wonder how some sections were meant to be done without movement exploits

Graphics: A Vibe
- Runs extremely well even at high settings
- Nice sci-fi aesthetics
- Pretty lighting

Gameplay: Really good
- Once you get a hang of the movement you will feel like a baller
- Fantastic balance of combat and parkour sequences
- Only complaint is with the powers/upgrades you unlock. Seems like they aren't that useful but since the base combat/parkour is so good this didn't hurt my experience at all.

Story: One of the stories of all time
- Easy to follow but kinda predictable
- The girl who leads the resistance needs to stfu her vibes were hella off
- You have to focus hard on the combat so I'd say the simple story is a good fit

OVERALL: 8.5/10

It took me a few hours to really understand the flow of combat and movement, but the creativity and speed this game can provide is worth the wait. It does not come without flaws, however.

The cybervoid sections being tied to individual level runs (cutscenes and all) is criminal. They were annoying at best on my first playthrough, why am I forced to run them again if I want to go back and time trial on the fun parts of the level? It seems as though they needed to feed you narrative, decided it was not in their best interest to put it in a cutscene, and made mindless puzzles so you have something to do while listening to it. Seriously, I want to play more of the cool go fast ninja mode, not spam slide jump and wait for tetris pieces to move.

On a brighter note, the kill runs have been very fun for me so far. I just wish there were more of them. I expected maybe author times to trial against, or leaderboards at the very least, but they don't seem to exist. The movement is so fun that I want to play the game, but the lack of reason to grind / get better really makes it feel pointless. Comparing to Neon White's individual level global leaderboards and various built in marathon category leaderboards, this game comes up very short.

Gameplay is a 10/10, but the longevity is likely not there for me. But who knows, the gameplay may just be enough to keep drawing me back (and crouch sliding myself off cliffs in the cybervoid).

Ghostrunner is a fairly quick, to-the-point, and enjoyable platforming/speedrunner/superhot-type action game with a slick style, simplistic story, and good level design. Bosses are something left to be desired, but in general Ghostrunner is worth 30 bucks, and if 7-8 hours isn't enough for 30 bucks for you, wait for a sale.

the way this game feels like a rythm game when youre doing everything right is amazing. the only problem is i suck at it still so mostly i just die haha. i love that theres no nonsense in this game. a couple skins, no lootboxes or battlepass, no stupid grind designed to bait you like a hook for your time employing every psychological trick their company can shove in to make you play more with diminishing rewards while bombarding you with large numbers so when you return to the stor and see that cool skin for only the number 2400 and then look to see what that number means and you realize on now that number is only 25 that funny little brain thinks"thats not much" and you click buy only to regret it the moment you start thinking outside of the trance the not game but dopamine dump software.
however this game is just that a game and a great one at that. its fast paced and unlike other ninja themed hack and slashes, the movement in this allows you to accomplish the awesome quick precise moves youd see in a cutscene but the controls would limit you from doing.
TLDR: watch a video if you dont want to read

Mal

so i just finished this, it was awful.

the game is designed to fuck you at every angle, and will relentlessly pound your android ass until you punch your monitor or eventually beat the level. it's unfair, since you only have one hp, and they throw shit at you that requires frame-perfect timing or shoots legitimate walls of instant kill at you. it frusterated me to no end, and it wasn't the good type of anger neither, since i was just being shredded over and over again at the same spots by the same enemies because the game is bullshit

for instance, in one level they have swathes of these human kamikaze bombers rush at you from everywhere - sure, you have a half-baked crowd control attack but there's so many you couldn't hope to get all of them in one blast or not get kileld by another enemy while trying

story is bland generic mysterious android protagonist gaining awareness and killing its creators, but you could honestly cut out the plot and lose nothing from killing generic badguy mcboss at the end.

the bosses are another beast entirely. the first boss is a giant fucking laser tower you have to climb to the top of three times while laser liquid or whatever pulses up the walls, preventing you from wallrunning, and normal laser beams come out the sides, practically camping you at every turn. bullshit since the way he rotates will either make the lasers barely threatening or make them make you want to tear out your retinas. the second boss is another generic cyber lady and you have to parry her 4-6 times to stumble her, that 4 times over, without dying. it's just tedious since at any point you could miss one slice and die. the third and final boss is ripoff doc ock and has the most bullshit attacks ever. the swipes can hit you mid air despite you having to jump over them, the underground claw attack will kill you if even one pixel touches it, the electricity shit (especially the moving electricity part) is just awful. the bowser fight in SM64 is more entertaining than that crap.

it's bad. unless you feel like wasting 30 dollars on a subpar scuffed parkour experience, spare yourself the trouble.

J.D. "Rookie"

Did you like the parkour of Mirror's Edge? Did you think the combat of Cyberpunk 2077 was too forgiving? Was the story of Fallout: New Vegas was too nuanced?

Then you'll actually, genuinely like this game. I loved it, it was fun, but it was also challenging. You will die an absolutely comical amount of times, but the game makes checkpoints really convenient and deaths are a very temporary setback.

The controls are a little complicated, requiring a high level of competence with pressing multiple buttons at once, a quick reaction time, and a not-insignificant amount of patience.

The bosses, save for Hel, suffer from an issue where the player's weapon and power-ups aren't really used, making the fights feel overly simple compared to the rest of the game. Also, whoever designed Tom should be put against a wall and fucking shot, and here's why.

Tom is a complete and utter bullet hell nightmare designed by a man who hates babies, God, and you. He created Tom to vent his rage on an unfair and cruel world that wronged him when he was young. Tom dispels any doubt that the Architect is evil, along with all of your hopes and dreams.

You will die and be rightly frustrated. The boss just does not mesh well with the parkour of the game and has very little place in a damn elevator system.

I LOOATTHEEEE Tom.

And like I said, the story... isn't much. I mean, it's been done before. And it's a little railroady, which isn't good for a game about a character who seemingly saves the world by "making a choice".

It falls victim to the "one man to thank" trope, leading me to believe that whoever wrote Ghostrunner's story read a lot of Jack Reacher.

All-in-all, though, the gameplay is fun. The soundtrack is good. The progression is imaginative and I like the setting and visuals greatly enough to excuse the lackluster story and often inconsistent difficulty.

Jennaxolotl

i really love how in ghostrunner even though we keep getting harder and harder enemies it never feels too hard, we just keep getting better, every time a new enemy is introduced it feels way too hard at first but then you look back at the previous new enemy and see that that one has become normal to deal with.
the game grows at the same speed the players so, which makes it so its never too boring and never too hard.

phat_sumo
phat_sumo

The core gameplay is really cool, and I like fighting the enemies. However, the late game is totally spoiled by a weird tone shift. The crawling enemies feel out of place and very unfun to fight, the bosses are uninspired, and the final level's parkour is unnecessarily complicated - to the point that I wonder if they even playtested it. Maybe it's easier on mouse + keyboard, but playing on steam deck, the final level in particular took me over 40 minutes. I can't recommend this game because of how bad of an experience I had with the ending. If the game didn't have all the weird puzzles or the bossfights and was just the standard parkour and bigger levels of the normal enemies, it would be a lot more fun.

Gameplay was pretty fun and fast paced, the story was meh, game is janky at times like animations being a little weird or enemies like the jumping guys or samurai making no audible sound to indicate they are coming for you making me think I got killed by nothing but that's really my only complaint.

AlsoMeSebby

So honest review.
Starting off with the good:
- The game looks very pretty
- The learning curve of the game is both simple and easy to expand with practice
- The enemies pose an interesting challenge from each other making you have to think about what you have to do before running between all of them and slicing and dicing
- Plenty of parkour mechanics to keep you on your toes
- A neat leveling system that consist of a puzzle and each part is a special ability. Change it up anytime when you need to and unlock more slots as you progress. By far one of my favorite things about it.

Now for what makes me not recommend this game fully:
- The story is pretty bland and simple, nothing terrible just nothing interesting either
- No health, so restarting happens often.
- Some map mechanics are a little clunky and have yet to be fixed: Wall riding on a wall you dont wanna connect to, not connecting to a wall at all when you clearly should have, trying to stop wall riding and your stuck in a limbo jumping between walls
- Most of the regions are pretty linear so not a lot of options are available for how to take down a area
- Most enemies dont move so every time you restart a level, there isnt any secondary thing to expect to change the outcome of your game.
- It has some frame drop issues. But I hear my PC (3060RTX, i7, 16gb Ram) dying when trying to play this game compared to any other title. Maybe a optimization issue, idk? Just not normal for it to happen.
- Game audio lags often, sometimes dialog plays and you'll see subtitles but hear non of the narration
- My biggest criticism is the boss battles, which is something I was hopping to be the saving grace. They just didnt feel exciting or fun at all. For example: the first boss you fight is HEL and she is both simple but annoying. Nothing about the battle is interesting considering you have to fight her by timing on a weird movie-like QTE (Quick time event), of which if you fail, it resets the entire QTE with no other hazard besides getting a finger cramp spamming the attack button. The QTE as well has no distinct notification of when exactly to hit. Afterwards she jumps to a different platform uses some scaling attack speed ranged abilities. In which you just have to navigate to her (there is always three options of approching her so dodging the ranged attacks aren't too too hard) and get into another QTE again. And have to do that 4 times before you finally defeat her. I wish the fight actually utilized the abilities you learned before hand instead of having to get into a animation/interactive-cinematic lock with the boss. As well, if the game didn't want to give you a health bar through the entire thing, they could have at least gave you one during this battle, especially considering any of your active abilities are disabled, of which the game treats of special abilities.

Final opinions:
I think the game is okay, but not worth $30. It doesn't seem like a lot of the mechanics are fully flushed out. As well as, I don't think the story is horrible, just personally if the narrative was a little less bland or so often, hell even just fully removed, would be better for the feel of the game. Lastly I feel as if there are mechanics missing inside of the game: health bar, enemy health, better boss battles, stamina maybe, allowing more key binds to different abilities instead of multiple being locked to one key, unlockables actually worth it (minus the voice log unlockables since I take those as extra lore which is always a nice touch), just SOMETHING to save the game from feeling like it had little TLC to it.

Recommendation: Wait for it to go on sale for a price that suits you and give it a try. Personally I am going to complete the game cause again, I don't think its all around horrible. Just.... a mess.

great game but the boss fights are a bit lacking since all you have to do is either reach them or wait for them to give you a weakspot. the last boss for example in both the main game and dlc you have to wait for them to do a full combo and then they either start damaging the enviroment and themselves or simply have the protective field no longer active. aside from the boss fights the game is pretty good where if you are good enough you dont even have to use the slow effect

So alright, the idea of the game is amazing. I really love the combo of Parkour and Combat with a Katana.
But...
-Some level designs were made just to piss you off.
-The Bossfights SU*K, I have NO IDEA how they managed to make such incredibly BAD boss fights, with barely any fun mechanics and working hitboxes.
Mostly I just hate the bossfights, the hitboxes and some areas that were made just to annoy you.

Post game thoughts, spoilers etc:
My big knock on the game is the ending, yes, the ending SUCKS. I hate what they did with the story and WTF were they thinking with that cyberspace, parkour segment as the LAST bit of gameplay.

You'll probably like the game if you enjoy rougelikes or games that focus on YOU getting better and not the game getting easy because you grinded out items and levels.

Ghostrunner is an excellent game, and if you like movement shooters such as Titanfall or Ultrakill, you will probably enjoy this game. Ghostrunner's gameplay revolves around platforming and combat both of which you will often be doing at the same time. Playtime can very a lot depending on skill level. My first playthough took me around 8 or so hours, but now that I'm used to the control I can get through the game in around an hour. When I first starting playing this game, it was pretty difficult, and frantic (I think it took me like 60 tries to beat the first boss). It wasn't until I really started to get the hang of the movement and controls that I found myself really enjoying it. If you find yourself struggling at first, stick with it and before you know it you will be flinging yourself through levels, dancing around enemies.

The combat and moving mechanics were entertaining, but all the "puzzle" maps were a bit tedious. The same can be said from the story they put here. Halfway through the game I stopped caring what was being talked through the comms as the story was pretty obvious and somewhat boring. Abilities could've been utilized better as they were fun but many times there just wasn't enough of enemies to use them with satisfaction.

I would say buy this game when it's not the full prize.

Highly recommended, it's really tough at times but once you master movement and utilize all your skills and upgrades it becomes much less of a challenge. I'm a sucker for cyberpunk aesthetics and fast paced first person gameplay so I already knew this was up my alley. Not much of story going on but it doesn't need one outside of the main back and forth between you and the Architect, which has a satisfying conclusion. I really enjoyed my time with it overall. 8.5/10

So, if I were to sum up Ghost Runner it would be Dark Souls meets Mirrors Edge meets Cyberpunk.

Honestly, I should be mad at how many times I died just trying to get past a single enemy encounter, but I'm not, music is a banger, checkpoints are generous and even though you will die if you get hit even once, so do the enemies, it feels fair, and most deaths are your own fault, not some whacky glitch or whatnot, but you can always try something new.

Word of advice though, for anyone planning on getting this: use a controller, it'll make your life WAAAAAAAYYYY easier

Difficulty like Katana Zero, atmosphere like Cyberpunk, and parkour like Mirrors Edge. This game gathers them all!
Enjoyable game with its fast-paced adrenaline gameplay but it consumes your sanity if you are short-tempered (especially on Hardmode) because you gonna be spamming R every 10 seconds, I found that it helps improve your reflexes so that time after time you find some levels easy to take on. Predictable story but it's not bad, kind of good. Great visuals and a greater soundtrack fit so well with the gameplay. Overall it's a nice game, hoping that Ghostrunner 2 come out better with more new things.

GREAT GAME

Ghostrunner is a good game in which you play as ghostrunner and slash enemies with your katana. The game is decently difficult. It has some cool parkour and epic fights. You'll die (sometimes a lot) on both fights, and parkour so this game is not for someone with weak nerves.

Gameplay

Gameplay feels smooth and looks epic. the only thing that annoyed me a little was that sometimes you grabbed the wall even when you didn't want to.

Music

I can't describe it with words, it's amazing. It captures perfectly the effect of cyberpunk city/tower and gives you the effect of power when fighting.

Collectibles and Easter Eggs

In Ghostrunner you can collect collectibles in form of items and voice vlogs that give you some lore and swords that are purely cosmetic. You can also find some easter eggs in game like "We have city to burn" from Cyberpunk 2077. As a big fan of easter eggs, this is a big + for this game.

Overall

Ghostrunner is a great game with some extra things to do like colecting items or extra modes (like hardmode after you finish the game). There is also DLC but i won't talk about it because i haven't bought it (yet). The game is not too long because it took me only 6,4 hours to finish the game with getting around half of the items but i still think Ghostrunner is worth it's price.

Ghostrunner when I first tried it felt original, clean and generally outstanding. Every time I come back, it always feels the same. No method of playing or route in levels feels exhausting just to play like some modern games and in a game where you die so easily and at first frequently you never get annoyed at dying or angry at the game. (By that I mean you can always pinpoint why you died and it was likely your fault). Even in hardcore while harder it provides more to do and maintains the satisfaction of beating levels.

Additionally the developers seem to actually care about the game, it's quality, it's content and it's fans. I first played it when the game only had the main story. Since then they have added 2 free to play modes(Wave and Kill run) which add fresh content that provides many more hours of fun. Project Hel's release was even more amazing, for around £12(I think) you get extremely different game play to playing as GR-74 and a more in depth look into the events before the main game. Most importantly about the DLC it breaks stereotypes of playing as a main game boss. When playing as Hel you actually feel as powerful and fearsome. She's also a funny character during dialogue and you get to piss of Mara so that's fun.

listen, the game has fancy graphics, but dont let that fool you. you will not notice the scenery when you are constantly trying to dodge bullets that kill you instantly. the mechanics in this game are too crowded, and can leave you in a worse scenario than if you didnt have them. you die ALOT of times, ALOT. the only thing this game has brought me is rage.

Core gameplay is fantastic, itches that titan fall wallrunning need. Bosses and the last (cybervoid) level section are more annoying than fun/challenging, which kinda sucks. Hardcore mode is a nice addition and felt like a good extender of the game.

Ghostrunner is a hardcore Cyberpunk game with extensive parkour elements, sword and gunplay and enough crazy shit to keep you coming back for more. The story is short and sweet, overall the game took me 6 hours to complete. The gameplay is fast and you *will* die, and do so repeatedly. You have no healthbar in Ghostrunner. You get hit once, you're dead. But so are your enemies, which is the real beauty behind this game.

If you're a casual gamer you can still enjoy Ghostrunner. There's either an assisted mode that makes it a lot more obvious as to what you have to do to complete a level or an option that gives you a shield that will absorb one hit per combat encounter. Choice is yours!

I enjoyed and hated this game at the same time but in the end don't regret buying it (on sale).

pros:
once you learn the fast paced movement, it can be fun and satisfying completing the sections/levels.
The visuals and environment are fantastic. I love this game's soundtrack, fits the environment and gameplay perfectly. I like how they implemented the story with the dialogue you hear in the background as you're playing, so there are no cutscenes and you're always in the action.

cons:
When you're starting out, this is definitely not a game to kick back and relax to as it requires focus and concentration to complete. The game is unforgiving, with the one hit death mechanic, it can be frustrating to fail a section over and over until you finally complete it. There is however an "assist mode" which makes things easier though I did not use it. I also found the game to be very short. All the levels (including DLC) can be played through fully in under 15 hours. I clocked 20 hours because I went for 100% achievements. However, if you enjoy beating your record times in the levels (the game keeps track of these for you) then maybe there is a good amount of replayability for you here.

In the end I would recommend the game but given how "short" it is I would only buy it on sale.

This game was recommended to me by a friend of mine. I'll start with what i liked:
- The game feels, plays really well and is really fun
- The abilities feel different from each other and give the game deeper mechanics
Now, I'll go over what i didn't like/ what could have been better:
- The story was a bit lame, but it was okay since the game is focused on it's parkour gameplay anyway
- Also, there could've been more different enemy types

I wanted to like this game. I have seen a lot of reviews saying they wanted to like this game as well. Granted I haven't gotten too far into the game but man the story seems rushed and pointless. I don't care about how Mara messed up everything in Dharma city or why I am here. (side note but that is the dumbest name I have ever heard.) I want to ninja run around and chop up bad guys as the Ghost Runner which is a name on par with Doom Slayer for the level of badass. However the fact i can just die in one hit too wonky hitboxes or unapologetic AI is just too much for me. Which leads me to the next part of this review. I don't need a death counter every time I complete the level. As a new player to the experience, that is the number one way to make someone feel like shit. Worst part about that being half the time it isn't my fault as I mentioned in the first section. If there is one thing I can give the game credit for is a unique skill tree. You have to fit these bits into tetris like block formations and can only have limited skills on at a time. The blink ability the game gives you in the first half hour is pointless junk. I have to be 2 feet away from an enemy to use it. The idea for the ability is to pierce through multiple enemies with it, HOWEVER, the games level design has no enemies next to each other ever making the tutorial for it absolutely pointless. Until they fix the problems I have mentioned this game isn't for me and I hope this review helps you not make the mistake of buying it.

tl;dr : inconsistent animations/hitboxes makes this game wonky to play. story is meh. gameplay in theory is very nice.

beat the game several times and on the hardcore mode a few times as well.
games pretty fun and i love the aesthetic. but holy shit the real difficulty is with the hitboxes and inconsistent animations.

i did some testing on the assisted mode with the parrying for the enemy ninjas and on several occasions i counted my self blocking. but still getting hit through the block. same for swinging to block incoming bullets. this alone makes every combat encounter painfull as its never frame perfect. what makes it more clear its broken is you hear the very auidible "ching" that you blocked the bullet/slash of a sword. yet still die.

as for the hel boss fight the premise is simple. just hit when her sword glares yellow. but her inconsistent animations either puts the time frame to parry the attack either a fraction of a second ahead or behined what the animation shows. which can very easily result in death or parrying at the wrong time reseting the engagement.

as for hit boxes especially with the laser turrets is also inconsistent. when the lines that make up their FOV are out of touch from where your character is. some times the actuall hit box that triggers the turret lags behined it and targets you when visually it shouldnt been able to. hit boxes when fighting the elevator boss. the "model" for the lasers in that boss fight are 2D which makes it hard to determin where the laser starts and ends from different angles. me personally im kind of blind and have trouble seeing just how close/far some thing is with a 2D plane.

there is also some issues with the parkour and some times it wont wall run when your clearly pressing the buttons for it and pressed right against a wall. some times you will just vault the entire wall instead. some times you cant STOP parkouring and cause it automatically makes u run forward while wall running. you cant stop on some ocasions and in hardcore mode where 90% of the room is full of lasers blockades on walls, makes it pretty annoying and leads to alot of button spam in the hopes you will jump off the wall and not jump straight into a laser.

game play in theory is amassing and super fast paced also very satisfying. but in practice with these bugs/inconsistencys i listed above makes it pretty frustrating to put it politely.

story is.... there for those who care. its not thrilling but its not terrible. for how focused u have to be to play this game the dialogue just blends into the background and you dont really pay attention to it durring combat or parkour.

overall : 6/10 fix the animations and hit boxes. literally thats it and this game would be just *chefs kiss* perfect cyberpunk rage game.

What a breath of fresh air after I had been slogging it in open world games. A super tight parkour game where the only damage numbers you need to deal with is instant kill. Is it linear? I suppose, but the level design gives you so many options in any given encounter that it never feels like youre being forced to play a way you don't want to, unless that way isn't FAST. I love the cyberpunk genre, I love the movement and lightning fast reflexes you grow to play this game well, I love the feeling of finessing an encounter that had been giving me trouble without slowing down time once. If you like the idea of being a cyber-ninja in the distant future, this not only lets you play as one, but trains you to FEEL like one for the 12 hours the campaign lasts you. 5/5 it did exactly what I wanted it to for as long as I hoped to do it

GhostRunner is a fast paced platformer featuring swords and a vast array of enemies.

The truth is, this game is really good. However, the flaws stand out a lot.

Cons: Half baked story
Less than fun abilities (I mean the ones you unlock overtime that you see in the bottom left)
Short experience
Wallrunning needs improvement
Not very interesting boss design

Taking this into consideration might put you off, but make no mistake this game is REALLY FUN

Pros: Great controls
Great map design
Badassness
Highstakes gameplay
Challenging
Awesome combat system

One last thing I didn't know where to put:
The different types of enemies makes you think about routing and how to deal with them (like DOOM eternal).

Fun, Challenging game with some annoying and aggravating gameplay issues.

Pros:-
1.) General concept - Good. You are a sword wielding mech-ninja who does parkour, slow-mo and slices enemies with swords and some cool abilities.
2.) Gameplay - Engaging and Really fun when it works as intended and quite challenging.
3.) Enemy Variety and Boss encounters - Enemy variety and combination is good. There are 3 bosses in the game out of which one is a platforming challenge boss. The other two bosses are pretty easy and slightly disappointing to be honest. Could have been better.
4.) Story - Pretty straightforward storyline which is mainly laid out with narration and dialogue.
5.) Level Design - Really good. Sometimes bordering on ridiculuos.
6.) Sound - Music is great and is perfect when it kicks in during gameplay. Elevates the experience.

Some segments are quite challenging. If you have good reflexes and/or patience, you'll like this game.

Cons:-
1.) Whoever decided to map Dash and Slow-mo to the same button needs to be fired.
Tap Shift - Dash, Hold Shift - Slow-Mo. Sounds Good? This works okay during regular combat encounters, but at the latter stages of challenging parkour, sometimes hold registers as tap and vice versa and ends up with the player falling to his death.
2.) Disappearing platforms/ Wall running issues - Sometimes walls will require you to dash into them to register contact and continue the wall-run. Most other times, it doesn't however. And this has led to countless deaths. Sometimes you phase into the wall and fall off the map too. Platforms disappear.
3.) Terrible auto-checkpoint system - Works fine for the most part. But not when you have to clear 6 difficult platforming sections in 1 level. If you remain in the game, it will load in the last checkpoint. However, if the game crashes for some reason, you'll have to go through all 6 platforming sections again.
Like...why though?
4.) Game bugs - Game crashed 3 times in 24 hours. Always happened while loading a new level. Sometimes some enemies will do the prompt for an attack, and then bug out and not do the attack(no its not an intended mechanic).

Overall, a really fun and challenging game with some minor annoyances.

Mirror's Edge with swords! 505 did it again with another great game. Ghost Runner has excellent visuals. The game play is simple but also challenging with several difficulty levels. The game-play mechanics are solid and responsive. If you mess up on a run it's you fault not crap mechanics. Most errors come down to timing miscalculations. There a plugin system for active and passive player perks things like extra dodge and ability charges, deflection send enemy shots back at them, and a collectible radar. In concept, this game is amazing: a parkour cyber ninja just sounds awesome, but the level of skill goes from being able to press spacebar and left click at the same time, instantly to having to understand the exact way the game works to beat a level. It goes from easy mode, to nightmare mode in about 2 levels, and for me, that sucks me out of it. I want a game that has a ramping skill level.

The repetitive one shot kill and consequent restart is boring and doesn't match the high adrenaline concept I was sold on. I've tried to play the game a few times but haven't been able to complete the tutorial. It looks awesome, and I know I suck, but damn... I wish the game focused more on getting you familiar with the pace and style before sprinkling multiple one shot lethal opponents between you and the next checkpoint. I hope I can enjoy Ghostrunner one day, but I hate how uninteresting it is after just ten minutes. I'm not familiar with parkour games and thought this would be an epic first, but it's just a giant middle finger I wish I would've demo'd before buying it.

scary ghost

pretty fun platformer, and the combat is great, more about speed and jumping around than anything else. the death-respawn-retry loop is quick, the controls are great (especially mouse and keyboard), and story is decent for what it is. the level designs are interesting, each one sort of a sandbox with a variety of routes for you to run through. there's a couple of pretty good boss battles as well, and yeah that platforming...occasionally difficult! but I was able to complete the game even the most challenging platforming sections by dying and retrying until I developed the muscle memory to clear the section. only part of the whole game that felt unfair was the train level, but it was short enough that I don't really mind. I liked slicing people in half, the game flew by really. it's fast paced beginning to end, and I thought the puzzles were nice little moments to catch your breath. there's probably some replay value in some of the other modes or if you care about like, getting a good time. it shows you your friends times which i thought was cool. also, I really like the sound design in this game, lots of satisfying sound effects. it is a very linear game, but sometimes that's not a bad thing. it's linear the way a mario game is linear and much like mario games, ghostrunner is fun! okay bye

Pros:
- very fluid motion
- nice graphics and environments

Cons:
- one hit enemy kills seems unfair
- you will die a lot, and while checkpoints are very frequent, it still means a lot of re-doing sections and it drains the fun

Ghostrunner is an interesting game. On the plus side, it's got great artwork and very pretty levels - the ambiance, added to the music, is really well done.

The gameplay has a solid core - but lacks a bit of polish/final pass over. Despite all the 'git gud' comments that I've seen around it, there's a good bit of frustration surrounding how you die for me. Sometimes, it feels fully earned - a mistake on my part, in which case starting over and correcting that is fine. In other situations, when the game is being buggy or enemies suddenly have aimbots, it's feeling much more on them than on the player. This second type is worst early on in the game, when you don't have many options. But the first pops up pretty badly during some of the biggest levels, including making the final one a humongous chore - and hurts the parkour feel of it by a lot.

If you're fine with being frustrated, and a game that's very close to being great but has some inconsistent responses/difficulties (and a one shot kill on the character), it's worth a try. But I can't recommend it more than that, as the parts that let it down really bring down the experience in my view, and turn it from a fun game to a frustrating one.

Don't get me wrong I'll play through the game BUT i don't recommend it.
The game is programmed to cheat, period. It's a fact.
I'm sure that the game is monitoring the keyboard input and knows the direction you heading.
And it is normal difficulty.
Sometimes you get the grip for wallrunning, sometimes the game just takes it away especially after a dash.
Or you end up in a climbing animation to the top of the board instead of running on it.
Will never buy a game from a dev like this.

I play Planet Side 2

I've played this game for an hour. It's a mixup of multiple genres, and it's just not worth it. It's not about the user having a good experience, it's about the user getting through the levels with as few deaths as possible. There is a lot of timing involved, and all your gameplay is pressing the keys at the right times. Being very precise for 10-15 moves in a row. It takes ages to get it right, luck, and avoiding movements bugs. If I was practicing my guitar I would dedicate my time and energy to it. But, for a game that I would put away in a month? Just not worth it.

I was imagining this game for me to be FUN. Where I kill a lot of AI with my sword. But no, I didn't get that. I killed maybe 5-10 AI with my sword - in an hour! The rest was pressing skills, and killing things on the wall that give the AI shield - seriously?

Can't believe I didn't make a review sooner. The game is short, however your time will vary depending on how quick you pick up tricks and learn to navigate levels. You can't take any damage or the section will repeat, so learning to finish areas without taking damage is very tricky but feels great once you do. My second play-through was much faster than the first, considering levels like TOM took me over 300 tries the first time, 36 the second round a year later. If I had to describe this game, it's like Hotline Miami but first-person and without (your ability to use) guns. I was a big fan of the Mirror's Edge games because the focus on chaining together different moves to find the most fluid path from point A to point B was both relaxing and oddly rewarding. But I think GR is a much less forgiving game by any measure and devolves into frustration pretty quickly when it gives you so little clue as to what to do and understates what it does tell you.

For example, the opening sequences teach you only the most very basics in a very minimalist way. When in reality that first time-distorting move you learn (pressing the 'Shift' key on a PC keyboard) is pretty much the move you will master or die endlessly. And there are many subtleties to its use, as there are to virtually every seemingly simple move: wall-running, jumping, dodging, you name it. I found some of it immediately intuitive, but I really had to work to figure out some of the intricacies.

I've had that same feeling multiple times as I work my way through the game too, encountering some new thing that doesn't work like anything else I've seen. I'm sure I could probably just do a quick web search or look on YouTube and watch somebody else solve it for me, but I don't want to do that. Some of these things are pretty tricky. Some of the "puzzle" levels are downright incoherent and illogical and deliberately so.

I've made it roughly halfway through the game now after about eleven hours of play, and in part that's because I had to beat my head against certain sections hundreds of times before I could figure out what to do. GR is consistently amazing how it adds something entirely novel into the mix that often makes the situation seem completely impossible at first, yet then by the end of that same level you've been forced to adapt to the point where it's just another voice in the mix.

I also cannot overstate the degree to which changing up your load out and using different skills can completely change the feel of the game. There was one section in particular where I kept dying to the same trio of enemies. No matter what order I tried to take them in they shot me in the air every time. I couldn't find any way to deal with them and gave up more than once before cooling down and coming back to it. But then I went looking through my load out and tried a skill that let me reflect projectiles: the impossible situation almost immediately became trivially simple. I could easily murder two out of the three foes with their own fire!

Not long after I unlocked the "blink" ability, and now I've more recently unlocked "tempest", and they lend themselves to very different styles of play. And that's a good thing given some of the much harder enemies that appear by the time you're halfway into the game. I don't want to spoil much of anything, but there are some tricky environmental bits and a few outright slaughterhouses you're going to be forced to endure, death after death until you find the way.

So here's the thing. I'm at the point in life where I have very little time to play anything, so when I do sit down to play I want to have fun. I don't usually find very punishing games fun because they require a skill level that my responsibilities will simply never allow, so they're the kind of thing I try and usually refund or walk away from pretty quickly. And yet despite how punishing GR is, and how "cheap" some of the deaths and last-minute architectural stumbling blocks are in some maps, I have come back to it for a solid 11+ hours. And while I'm improving slower than I'd like, I am still improving. I think that says something about it.

I don't know how much more I'm going to get out of it, and I don't want to leave my review at that point. The game also deserves great credit for its fantastic visuals, perfect audio, style, controls, etc. It is truly a pleasure to play in all its basic mechanics and presentation values. If you're easily frustrated, it's probably not for you. But if you're more like me, I think you'll easily get your money's worth out of the game.

Monkey Brain + Speedrunner blood = Great game

GR is a fantastic game that has a storyline that you can follow whilst you slice and dice and listen to some cyberpunk/rock music or heck even the soundtrack deserves to be bought. It's a good piece of music.

Honestly you can compare this to the new smash hit of a game that is ULTRAKILL, it's almost the same game, in one you shoot and in the other you slash stuff at 50000 MpH.

I don't know what to say but to buy this game, but beware it's hard, took me 2 hours to beat it since i have played it a long time ago on a Pirated version since I didn't have like thirty euros so I waited until it was on sale to buy it then complete most of it in 2 hours LOL, still the game seems easier once you learn how to play it fast and learn all that there is to it

GREAT Game buy it when you can

This game looked so much easier when I watched speedrunners break and beat it at Games Done Quick.

it could be really good but there are elements that just remove the fun from it

running and shit is pretty fun. but it's very short. I am personally satisfied with 8 hours of gameplay for a $30 game (I think I got it on sale tho idk) but some people will not be.

Smooth and compelling experience, great OST. In short if you like to zoom and boom or otherwise "go fast" and do difficult but rewarding gameplay, this'll be a great fit.
