This game is great. The mechanics are good and the play stile doesn't seem to be unfair. However i did experience that my progress earlier was taken away from me as the other classes i had unlocked before was gone? I mean could be the updates but still i earn those and is it me or was there more than just 3 characters before? I swore that i had more than just this. The updates are cool and all but don't delete my progress next time. Really enjoy the game play and keep it up. :)

For sure it is an awesome project, and I said project, because I missing some things like, a tutorial and control change options (like change moviments keys Q for A and E for D). I also missing some kind of introduction, I know that it is a dungeon crawler, and for sure it is a nice project, however a introduction may improve a lot a initial experience of this game, keeping the player knowing exactly where he is. Nice Job man.

This game is okay. It's fairly well-made, but unfortunately it's quite a basic roguelike.

The art and atmosphere are cute, but the combat is extremely simple and the exploration is tedious. The classes are locked behind what is essentially just playtime, which doesn't feel very rewarding.

One critical issue is the lack of controller support.

The dev seems to still be working on it though, so hopefully it'll get fleshed out a bit more.

This is normally the exact kind of game I'd enjoy, but it's just... small, I guess.

I wish Steam would let me post a neutral review, but I'll give it a thumbs up just because it's cute and the dev seems cool.

E.N.B.
E.N.B.

Cute, fun, and simple for the price. Having sunk a lot of time into Pixel Dungeon I was expecting a longer run but that didn't take away from my experience. Comparing them, I'd say Gloomgrave is more forgiving and that was welcoming. Hunger for example was so negligible, you can save all your food as healing items. Scroll of Identify reveals all your potions where Pixel Dungeon's scroll only reveals one. You get the idea.

Enemies have moments of brilliance and serious fault. The way their path finding works makes them seemingly know how to use corners to their advantage. But at the same time, if you're shooting a hobgoblin from across lava, they're down to stand there and take their death when they could just walk around the lava. The boss could use a bit more to it. Once you have an invisibility pot saved to the end, you're set for a free win.

The inventory is very straight forward and controlled as fluidly as I wanted which was perfect.

I'd love to see this game expanded on. You can unlock two more characters although this didn't seem to change the game much outside of different starting load-outs and initial stats, so I didn't bother trying them. This genre always benefits from variety. But at the same time I wouldn't want Gloomgrave to steer too far from its simplicity, which is what mostly kept me playing.

Music's relaxing. Visuals are nice. If you're looking for a basic intro to the genre, I'd recommend this.

I want to like this game. It seems like it could be fun and I like the visual presentation. The problem is that there isn't enough information about in-game mechanics. What status effects, weapon effects, or even basic character statistics do isn't explained in game. When I die, it doesn't feel like I made a mistake in my character build, I know what I did wrong and can try again next time to do things differently... I have no clue where I went wrong because so much of how the game functions goes unexplained. It's just trying to build a character "blind" and I don't find that fun. I left a comment in the discussions with this feedback and never heard back... so I think it's fair to let others know that I didn't enjoy this game and why.

TheHorseNamedPlague

This a short dungeon crawling roguelike like Rogue, but very simplified. There were times the button key to interact (k) didn't work but clicking on screen fixes that. Otherwise, it is a pretty polished experience for a game at this low of a price.

I recommend this game for anyone who enjoys dungeon crawling, but don't have the energy to spend on the their usual daunting labyrinth of choice.

Magonus
Magonus

It's a charming presentation, but the gameplay is pretty shallow, and some mechanics (cloaks, dodge+weight+perks, accuracy) are either inconsistent in their behavior (accuracy seems to affect melee, but not ranged), or simply unclear what (if any) gameplay effects they have.

Like other roguelikes, by the time you get to the end, you will have a lot of good items for the game's final boss. But, this game was extremely easy to cheese once I discovered that I could reliably soft-lock enemies in doorframes by turning right and strafing away, then finishing them off with arrows.

If this is the developer's first go, it's a great first step, but his next game should have more to chew on, for its price. A future installment could improve the game greatly by having mechanics that play more with armor, positioning, or manipulating movement/action values (such as a flying unit that gets 2 moves to your 1, or an enemy that has bad attacks but attacks twice, or a perk that gives you a free move after a critical hit, skeletons being vulnerable to blunt weapons, zombies to blades, etc). As it is, the enemy AI is extremely poor, and the gameplay boils down to "get bigger numbers". You'll probably enjoy the simplicity and presentation but not much else.

Super cute little rogue dungeon crawler and great time killer. Will be one of my go to games when I dont know what to play. Wish there was a way to save a character to make it stronger and not restart every death, but that has its downsides too and for 4 bucks I am more than satisfied.

This game is $4.99 and it is well worth this and beyond. There are multiple classes, weapon types, armor types and various types of loot to be found in this Rogue-lite Dungeon Crawler. I absolutely love the art! Maps are randomly generated each time which adds additional replay-ability. For the price, this game is great and can be come back to time and time again.

Really fun, tiny little rogue-like dungeon crawler. Was looking for games to scratch that Shadow Tower/King's Field itch, and while it obviously doesn't quite match those games in aesthetics or complexity, it's still a good little time. Hopefully the dev adds some more weapons, armors, items, monsters, and characters in the future, I'd love to see more from this game.

Chuckles
Chuckles

This is very much an underrated dungeon crawler. Difficult enough to be hard but never so difficult to feel like deaths are anything but your own fault. Nothing describes the feeling of the dopamine rush you get when finding a +4 draining mace in a random chest 5 levels deep into a dungeon. For the price this game is being sold at you'd be a fool not to give this game a try.

Telkim
Telkim

It is a fun little game. It does not hold your hand, which is always refreshing. It did take me a few runs to realize there is a skill tree though. Made it much easier from there. I think I would not mind if each level was a bit larger, but one thing I would have loved to have seen is more traditional secrets. Unless I missed them, I found no hidden levers or switches. Some simple puzzle elements would have been appreciated as well.

All in all, a fun little game.

Albooty Poopy
Albooty Poopy

Fantastic small scale rogue like/dungeon crawler that is dripping in atmosphere.

The art is amazing and gives throwback vibes to titles like Wizardry, only more chunky and cute. The soundtrack is great, sitting somewhere between comfy and immersive, sort of reminding me of 'rainy day' type of VGM (from when i was a young and supple chubby boy, free of responsibilities like 'work' and 'parenting'). The game only has 3 audio tracks but they are great and did not get irritating throughout the 9 or so hours I sunk into the title.

Combat is basic but held up well by the inbuilt skill tree, the game seems to focus more heavily on gear and potion drops, dictating what to dump skills into as corresponding to what weapon's you come across.

All in all this is a very solid title, especially when considering the low price, solid 9/10, def's worth a buy.

I like what is here but I've beaten the game 4 times, unlocked all the achievements and seen just about everything this game has to offer in about 6 hours. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed those 6 hours and that's why I'm recommending it but it is a bit too easy and there isn't a ton of stuff in the game yet. Hopefully harder modes get added and more content is introduced because I like what this game offers at it's core just needs to be expanded.

How was this game in early access for a year!?! No offence to dev but this game isn't worth any money currently. It's waaaay to short in it's current state. I'm not sure why this wasn't labeled a demo. My only guess is they wanted to boost sales with a full release so we got $5 demo that hardly ever gets meaningful updates. I mostly play games under $5 and if this is what people think is "worth the price" y'all are getting robbed on the regular. My playtime is only from leaving it running in the background all day. You can beat it in 30 minutes and at the end it just cuts off. Aside from two characters to unlock and some achievements they call badges it has zero reasons to replay with how quickly it ends. As soon as you get a build going game over. Plus after you beat it once you've seen everything "the game" has to offer. I know I'm being extra hard on a $5 game but it's hardly has enough to be a demo let alone a full game.

For me it's not worth it's price yet and after checking the update history it's at least a years worth of updates away.

Overall, this is a really great little game and value. It's pretty short. You can finish it in 4-8 hours, but I really don't mind that because the levels are randomized, making it comfortably replayable. I also really like that the controls were simple enough that a child can play it, but the game is difficult enough to challenge an adult. With no respawning it can be unforgiving as even a tiny mistake, such as one too many clicks, will cause you to have to start that character/class over (you will lose at worst 30 minutes of progress). I still consider that a pro though as fantasy games are much too forgiving these days.
The one single critique I have of this game is fighting through the thing to get a cool sword that you don't get to use.

This game is great I know I don't have a lot of playtime as I write this but this game is sorta a love letter to old rpgs like Fatal labyrinth and elder scrolls. it has a fun and simple game play loop of finding loot in dungeons, finding exits and seeing if you can make it out alive and it never really gets boring. it has a charming yet simple 2d-3d pixel art graphics making each encounter fun and even a bit goofy at times depending on what you fight.

this game is a cute + easy to learn, hard to master (at least for me lol) rouge-like with a movement system that is almost chess-like, which i think is cool! I really do like this game, however, there's no in-game tutorial or explanation for the mechanics.
and while some of them you can intuit, others are more... vauge. like, what does intelligence even do this in this game? i have no idea what it could/is affecting. or any of the stats really. what does "evasion" do exactly and how is/is it impacted by your dex stat? how does the hungry mechanic actually work?
i really like this game, but i get frustrated having to guess instead of making plans based on what i have available. a solid 6/10 down-time game that could be at least an 8/10 if the systems were explained. honestly, if there was a button on the main menu that just took you to a book-like menu that explained everything, that would be excellent! there doesn't even have to be a tutorial level, in my opinion, or a pop-up guide during playtime. just a easily accessible reference guide for when i get confused.

I don't like it. I wish I did, but I don't.

I see a lot of positive reviews, and I don't think they're wrong, but it's just not for me. I don't like the controls, I don't like that you HAVE to play as a rogue to start, I don't like the style of gameplay at all. Just everything. It's not fun for me.

I love indie games and I love pixel art. This one just didn't hit the mark for me, personally. I also feel like the art style isn't very unique, and the flat purple color palette bothers my eyes.

It feels like I'm in an alternate universe Minecraft with the way the bows look exactly like Minecraft bows, and just being shot by skeleton archers the whole time. I just hoped for more I guess.

That all being said, I'm one person. The reviews, overall, are very good and I think that speaks for the game better than I could. This is all just my opinion, so if you are interested in trying the game, don't let one person's point of view take anything away from your experience!

Finished it multiple times. Fun dungeon crawler for sure. Each movement is a turn and every thing is based on RNG. Potions need to be used to discover their effects and change each play through. Combat is simple clicks. Statues you find, give you status buffs. You also find gold to spend with merchants. Leveling up consists of one choice of 3 random effects, like, "each Critical hit heals you" for example. I had fun but 5 hours you have seen everything to be seen. Its super fun just really short, but for $3.99 I can't complain. All in all it is worth the purchase. 7.5/10

Overall the Game feels quite polished, and the balancing during a playthrough is also fine. This is a roguelike dungeoncrawler mix with permadeath, meaning not all playthroughs will be successful, But if they are, they will take you about 30 minutes to complete. It got very lightweight mechanics, and a basic interface, which could use some improvement (Developer is already working on it). For a "Full Game" the game would need to offer a bit more in terms of interesting stuff like random events, boss fights, anything like that to keep the player engaged for a few hours. But for the current EA price I can already recommend it, if you a re looking for a brief dungeoncrawler-roguelike experience.

This game is a charming callback to the old Dungeon Crawling Roguelike games, notably the game "Rogue". It features a lot of memorable elements from those old games such as randomly generated rooms with variety of different items to grid based action combat. I recommend this little small game for people who likes games with short and simple runs.

Addy
Addy

Too predictable and too easy to be genuinely engaging. Thoroughly explore every floor and you'll win every time, unless you step on a trap. Unlock criteria for the Knight Class is also unreasonable. It took 4 hours and a few completed runs to get him, and by that point I'd already conquered the game.

I love this little game, it's recent update has made it even better with a randomly generated skill tree and a fun nostalgic feel & a great experience each time! I would love to see more come out of this game, i've had dreams of modding it just out of the pure love of everything in it! I can't wait to see what's next for this game! I'll be playing every update! :)

The game is super retro which is ok. For me i did not waste my money.
Good things:
Shops
Lots of items
Some nice classes
Great developer
Game is fun

Bad things
You can't sell your items i shops.
No pets.
Too short.

So the score is 9/10. Remember this game ain't done yet. Making games takes time.
Developer is nice man if you have any questions you can ask him.

It's a really simple roguelike that's excellently balanced- that pretty much sums it up. It really boils down the formula to a minimum while still enabling strategy over RNG. I don't think it needs any more content at this price- for $4 it's pretty much perfect for a solid 2-8 hours of play depending on how much replay value you find (I also play on my phone). As someone who has had a lot of difficulty with roguelikes such as Stone Soup, this kind of game is perfect.

OGB

Nice little dungeon crawler. Refreshing to see that kind of aesthetics in a game like this.
Has a LOT of potential. Add some more environments, enemies, weapons and quests and this could end up being great. Developed by one person and one musician? Kudos for that.

Gloomgrave is a DUNGEON CRAWLER. God! Stop naming every damn game like-Rogue when it's not.

Gloomgrave still in development, so, very early access and very basic, boring, nothing interesting at the moment. The combat is silly, with not much of a tactic. The controls are bad, it is a blend between keyboard, mouse, clicking and menus. This game should be played completely with keyboard for more comfort.

I doubt in the future will be better. As a Dungeon Crawler is bad game, you have better Dungeon Crawler games, check the site above. As a Rogue-like, well, is NOT a like-Rogue game, so, very bad in this regard.

If you are interested in the game, you should expect to have further development.

EDIT. Reply to the "developer": I'm going to assume you don't know English. Rogue-like LITERALLY mean games that play like Rogue, that's mean top-down view, so no, no meet the definition, additional to other game mechanics, not just an RPG subgenre, is a blend of game mechanics, with strategy, tactic than RPG.

Game mechanics, basically means a set or group of rules that working together create a gameplay, the player experience, that makes the gameplay a game like-Rogue. See: 1 2 3 4 5 6

You are using the world as a marketing buzzword for your indie game, and is falsely advertised as Rogue-like, in other word a scam.

Your game is a DUNGEON CRAWLER

I really like Gloomgrave's first-person roguelike concept. The pixel aesthetic is very cool and I'm looking forward to seeing what the new areas and monsters look like. One thing that could be improved is the menus, they were a bit tricky to figure out. Some tooltips might make them a bit easier to use.

Nice game but there are things that i would like to see in here.
Meyby allow faster(more fluid) movement when no enemies in sight
The inventory could have more information about your character stats and items (like whats my chance to dodge etc)
And the biggest one so far would be the ability to see the stats of items in shops.

Honestly so far so good with just about everything. Really it only needs some quality of life.

TLDR: Fun and relaxing dungeon crawler that is easily worth the price. Needs slight improvements but over all a great experience. Personal rating; 8/10

The Good Stuff:
-The music is top notch! Very calming and fitting for the environments and simply great to listen to.
-The game itself is very simple to play and figure out. (Currently no tutorial or help/tip page) However a quick look at the controls and you'll know how everything works..
-Enemy's are easily identifiable including their weapons. Enemies are a little on the basic side Slims, skeletons and assassins but that is expected in a dungeon crawler.
-Inventory is easily manageable.

Improvements I'd like to see: (As of 7/11/22)
- Custom Key Binds. I wasn't able to change anything during my time but mostly'd i'd like to change the interact button (Left click) to space
- Being able to hover over an item with your mouse to see it's stats compared to what is already equipped
- A mini map in the form of either a permanent feature or an item to be found. dropped. or bought from a shop. The item itself can be a compass or something along those lines. (Personally i think it would be fun as an item that you keep until the end of your run)
- Character stats need to be a bit more clear. Mostly as in a description for what exactly the three main stats do. We has Strength. Accuracy, Agility. A little self explanatory yes, but it would be nice to have a small description for players who simply don't know what these effect.
- 2 Loadouts. This one is mostly for weapons. Caught myself switching from Mace to Longbow a few times to get a couple of extra hits in before an enemy got close.
- Being able to see items at the shop. It would be a nice way to encourage shopping in general. The items are a bit expensive but there is a level up upgrade that lowers the prices. (I haven't used the upgrade yet so I dont know how low the prices go after said upgrade) Besides that, being able to sell old items you pick up would be nice rather than simply dropping them.
- This is purely optional since your floor counter is on the map page, but it would be nice to see what floor you're on while not in the map menu.

Overall this game really fun so far. It is surprisingly calm and relaxing for a dungeon crawler so it's a nice change of pace for me personally. The only "negative" things i can say so far is that it needs some quality of life stuff. But other than that it's a fun one. The music is by far my favorite part of the entire thing. According to the credits in game this was made by 2 people. One for the game itself and the other for the music. Both have their twitter handles for support. Very excited to see how this game grows and develops.

As of now I give this game a personal rating of 8/10 simply because it needs some quality of life improvements. Other an that a very solid dungeon crawler.

This game is solid. Really solid. It look great, the controls are fine (if a little unresponsive), and the concept is easy to grasp. It is a classic grid-based dungeon crawler, and it pull it off nicely. My only real gripe is a lack of information. How does one point of accuracy, strength, or dodge translate percentage wise, for example. Just being able to hove over items or stats and this information being available, would be great.

Other than that though, this is incredibly solid and an absolute steal at approx £2. Slight tweaks here and there and you've got yourself something fab.

Its a chill dungeon crawler that bears a strong resemblance to Pixel Dungeon. Very early access and bare bones at this point. I would like to see bosses at some point and some improvements in QOL aspects (ex. walking over items does not pick it up). Key rebinding is also currently not possible.

Game has potential but depending on the direction of development it might just be 3D pixel dungeon.

Interesting, yet simple turn based roguelike. You get four hero types and the task is to proceed through the different dungeon floors, until you reach the end. It's fun, mostly fair and quite cheap.

I died to my very first enemy.

Then I started again and got to the fifth floor of the dungeon. Such is the nature of roguelike dungeon crawlers, apparently!

I'm a horror gamer through-and-through, so this isn't my usual sort of game, but when it popped up in my face on Steam, something about it piqued my interest, and for a few quid, I decided to pick it up. I grew up playing AD&D 2nd Edition, and spent lots of time on games like Eye of the Beholder as a teenager, so I had that in mind when I bought this.

At the moment, it's very early access, and by that I mean it's pretty simple. You move through rooms killing monsters, picking up loot and head to the next level, every so often finding a merchant (that you can't currently sell to, but it's planned) or a statue that'll give you one of three benefits that you can pick, such as increased XP or a greater chance of loot.

You have a few different classes to pick from, but at the beginning can only choose the rogue, and need to unlock the others. For example, the knight requires you to kill 300 monsters to unlock. After playing my second playthrough I unlocked the ranger, but didn't see what I had done to get it.

The environments are procedurally generated, and look different the deeper you go, but there's little to do other than kill. Games like Eye of the Beholder or Legend of Grimrock had puzzles and secrets, or clues carved on walls, but there's none of that here. The developer has put a mini-roadmap on the forums and secrets, more dangers and even weapon customisation are in the pipeline, so it does sound very promising!

Looking forward to more!

It is a pretty simple game, but it's very well done. It is fairly challenging but relaxing. I'd suggest adding magic and maybe some special loot. Also, I wish the dungeon was more fleshed out and longer, but overall very fun and can't wait to see what else is done with it

really great potential the look/feel is fantastic and the music enchanting ...
unfortunately the controls real need some work, 3 things to fix;
1. navigating menus and inventory with the keyboard. (it would be more accessible)
2. an option to use the keyboard for the actions picking up an item, activating ladders, shrines etc (more accessible again)
3. user defined keyboard layout (personally id like to have A&D as my turn keys and use the Q&E keys for strafe)

This game is tons of fun. Well worth the price even at this point in early access. While the controls took a little to get used to once i got the hang of it the flow of the actual gameplay is amazing. There were a couple bugs here and there where some of the status effect didn't go away when they were suppose to but again its in early access so that's to be expected. There is only a couple of things I would suggest and both are very minor. First a button to report any bugs / give feedback in game (maybe on like the pause menu or the main menu). Second would be a Melee/Ranged quick swap button so you don't have to open the inventory every time you want to swap from the Bow to the Melee+Shield. TLDR: Awesome Early Access game that has a ton of potential, want a Melee/Ranged swap key, but still extremely happy with buying it.

Ancyano
Ancyano

A simple but enjoyable 8-bit dungeon crawler, the player has a choice between five classic classes and must descend through a ten-level, procedurally generated dungeon before recovering the Sword of Luna and bringing light to the gloom.

Length

I completed all ten achievements in six hours, but if you were fast, it could take you three. Besides the achievements you accomplish playing the game normally, there is an achievement for each successful run-through with the five different classes. Each successful run took me roughly thirty minutes to complete.

Replayability

After getting all the achievements, the game is not immensely replayable. While I enjoyed the six hours I played the game for, I would not play again until the content is updated. Still, I would say the time I got was good for the four dollars the developer is asking for.

Difficulty

The game is moderately difficult at first. I definitely died a few times with the Rogue class before getting into the swing of things. Once you complete your first run and know which enemies are difficult and which items are good, the rest comes naturally. Tip: Don't rush for the ladder; instead, go through the whole level, gain XP, and collect valuables before moving on. I was actually surprised with how useful some items were. I tend to be the kind of person who hoards consumables in my inventory, never to be used, but most of the spell scrolls and potions felt vital for the harder enemies like the minotaur. There are no difficulty levels for you to advance through, and the game is certainly not Dark Souls, but this is still not a game that you can simply button-mash through. I would say the game was easy enough to feel comfortable but not so easy that I felt bored out of my skull.

Positives

Gloomgrave[/i] does not add anything new in comparison to any other roguelike dungeon crawler, but as someone who loves the genre, it was still fun to play. Accompanied by great music, the game loop felt relaxing and enjoyable. I am biased to the game's pixel art style. It's great. I suppose the pixel art being 3D does set the game apart from other roguelikes. If you've ever played through Pokémon 3D before, this looked like it.

Negatives

Most of the suggestions I had in mind have already been said by other people. The game lacks content, but it is also early access, and what is already there is solid. The game needs quality of life features, and I especially wanted the ability to see item descriptions for each item in the shop and the ability to switch between weapon preloads instead of accessing my inventory and switching from bow and arrow to sword and shield whenever an enemy got too close. I also believe the classes need a revamp. Right now, each class is differentiated by starting stats and a unique ability. Some of the classes had seemingly useless abilities. For example, the Ranger has the ability to pick up missed arrows after firing them at enemies who dodged. I always had plenty of arrows in my games, so the ability made no difference.

So Far this game is real good, formerly a mobile only game the port is pretty nice and the simple Rougelike content does well...I think my only gripe is that the game lacks a few large scale content at the time of writing...in 5 hours I've unlocked all 5 classes and beaten two of them...maybe some future content updates...such as Bosses, the ability to drop gear in the Merchant room to sell it as well as deeper runs and just more build options would help freshen the game up...but for about £3...I think you get exactly what you paid for with a game like this...and I'd equally take an expansion or DLC for similar price for similar ammounts of added content!

5/5 gravestones. Great roguelike, straightforward, pretty chill overall. Great for its price imo.

fun game for 3 bucks, gave me 2 hours of entertainment. very simple, easy game for a crawler.

edit:
7 hour to 100% this version. 2-3 hours just killing monster so i could unlock the warrior character. wish it was fewer monster for unlocking character.

About as basic as a roguelike can get.
Needs work to make it more interesting.
Definitely worth the price though lmao

Cheap game review: Looking at a new cheap or free game on steam every week. Some golden nuggets, and some smelly turds, but always a good time:

Solid Rogue-like dungeon crawler with pixel graphics. Really enjoyed that it's turn-based so you can take your time with it.

The Chameleon
The Chameleon

It's simple, straightforward, and easy to understand, but like many roguelikes expect to get some bad rolls and rough layouts that can turn your milk run into a death run before you know it. Confidence is a slow and insidious killer, after all. Two thumbs up!

Short game, but pretty fun to just rummage around in. It's reminiscent of the old nethack or Dungeon Crawl ASCII games in a psuedo 3d first person format. I feel like this game would thrive if it was on the steam workshop where people could expand on the game with mods. The game is fantastic as a base, but becomes very easy to map out with small maps and a very simplistic 9 layer system. Overall, good game, would be better if there was community driven content, too :3

Very cute, very fun, tons of promise, and worth the price.
_____________
Pros:
- Engagingly simplistic
- Super simple, cohesive art style makes it very easy on the eyes
- Very chill, low stakes runs (with accompanying chill dungeon music)
- Just the right amount of engaging for a windowed dungeon crawler to keep open in the background
- Dedicated dev who really seems to care about constant, quality updates
- Mega favorable "quality game per dollar spent" ratio
_____________

Cons:
- Currently less than the sum of its parts, you see everything within the first few playthroughs
- Suffers a good deal from the rng these types of games rely on, some runs are doomed to only last a couple seconds, but once you've gotten your first piece of quality loot you're golden.
- Some balance issues here and there (strength is largely the most important stat for combat, weapons, and armor; a hunger mechanic ensures that if there is not enough random food spawns then you'll end up occasionally screwed)
_____________
The critiques here are out of genuine love for the game, not "reasons not to buy." I love Gloomgrave and I think you will too.

Fun game play and a solid foundation for future updates. Currently lacking depth and replayability.

I am a big fan of Pixel styled games! This game is alot like Pixel Dungeon, it even reminded me of Pixel Dungeon the first time i saw this game, then i immediately rushed to this Steam store page to buy it. Though, i did not have as much fun as i did playing Pixel Dungeon because i've yet to get used to it's play style. But you could enjoy it more than i do! I recommend this game!

A little barebones at the moment, but the skeleton is strong. I see few ways this doesn't become an above average game in this genre if updates continue.

I enjoy the dungeon crawling combat atmosphere with inventory control. It is pretty fun.

Pros:
Good dungeon crawler
Good retro graphics
smooth controls
inventory system
Save system

Cons:
Invisible traps
Not enough health boosters.
Could use a level map option.

Conclusion: Good game, but would be nice if there was a difficulty option for easy, normal, and hard based on what people want. However, I would recommend the game.

I've really enjoyed this game so far. It's pretty simple overall, but it has a balanced inventory and skill management system without bogging itself down with needing to memorise too many numbers and calculations. Everything feels clean and polished to a point that if it didn't have an early access tag on it I would fully believe it's a finished release, but I'm even more excited about what else is coming.
Also, the music is incredible. It reminds me of the classic Age of Empires II score with a little FTL thrown in there.

Failsafety

In its current state, the game is fun enough to play through in short bursts. However, there are niggling issues such as a non-existent map, a disappointing inventory system and no meaningful differences between player classes.

This game is a neat little dungeon crawler which needs additional work, but that's why it's in early access. I'm looking forward to seeing what the dev adds in future updates.

Super fun to play, but too short.

Heartbeat
Heartbeat

Very enjoyable, simplistic and easy to learn. my only complain is that the game is a bit short and could do with dome quality of life improvements (item sorting and auto equipping gear ) as well as character customisation and more variety to gear.

Grish
Grish

Great little game, although very easy if you happen to catch on to the imbalances. The big one that needs to be addressed is stat balance. The best strategy is always to pick strength from statues because agility is much easier to get through magical gear and accuracy is completely negated by the level up perk that guarantees a hit after a dodge. Also 2 handers seem like pretty bad value, especially when you have the perk that grants retaliation damage on a block.

Gob Diversity Hire

Pretty damn good for a few bucks. A bit short, but even so, you get your money's worth for sure.

Fun retro-style indie dungeon crawler! Can't wait to see future updates and see how the game improves. It's already lots of fun, but there's so much potential here. 7.5/10 at the moment

This is the perfect casual roguelike IMO. I woke up on a Sunday, bought this because it was on sale, had a few smokes and a cup of coffee and a genuinely enjoyable and relaxing morning playing this. Great 'roguelite'.

As of July 2022, this game is early access and feels like it. It needs more of everything, but the bones of a good game are here, and it's priced fairly for what you currently get, which is a very by-the-numbers turn-based first-person dungeon crawler.

Bakadayo
Bakadayo

Tiny rogue-like dungeon crawler. For the quality of the game, the price is awesome. There is plenty already in the game, even in early access.
Each update has come with bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements.

Good dungeon crawler game.
Great game for throwing a podcast on and just chillin out while playing.
Only complaint is just some quality of life stuff.
I would like a weapon hot bar or something that i can switch weapons on the fly.
Other than that, this game is nice. :D
