2D Platformer where the goal is to reach the exit of every level. The player controls a square and moves it by "rolling" towards either left or right. There's no jumping, but there are "pellets" placed around the levels which, when touched, reverses the gravity. There's a limited but recharging slow-mo ability which improves left/right movement, especially when on air.

The controls can be annoying at times, like when you're trying to go up a "step" but you're somehow "stuck" coz you're a square and your movements are affected by gravity. But that's just the beginning! Since a major part of the game is to grab those "pellets" that can reverse gravity, hitting them with your sexy square body can be a real pain. Most times, these pellets are in hard to reach areas where one wrong move would cause you to repeat the whole level. The worst part? Physics betrays you coz either you bounce too soft or too hard that you would miss the pellet.

Well, I just found the game too slow and silent. Most of what you would hear is the box's edges thumping on the platform, and that's it. Ah, just another day in the life of a box! For extra details, no I did not finish Act I and I never knew how many levels I am before the next one.

One more thing. I don't know if I'm okay with half a dollar for this game. I've played too many free platformer flash games online and they provided way more fun and thrill.

This game is very confusing. It literally has no kind of introduction or guidance whatsoever about what to do and why. No to little guidance can be fine on most games but this is really not one of them. Normally would you be able to know where to go and why by simple common sense but this game really just places you on a level and then your on your own. The mechanics are nothing special and i didnt find this game fun or interesting any bit. This game has so many things wrong with it that i don't wanna spend my time mentioning them. Don't spend your time with this game it's simply not worth it.

Got it in some bundle. Gave it a try. Made it through a few levels. Then I realized I was just pushing a cube back and forward for... fun?

Sure, it is a game of sorts and probably not too bad for those who might like the minimalistic stuff and the different levels of frustration. Plenty of chance involved here and then doing the increasingly boring task of repeating the level again and again till you figure out the spot and speed required to push the cube... Wait, just realized I'm talking about pushing a cube...

Yeah, anyway, fish some cards and happy pushing.

What started off as an interesting, albeit not revolutionary or new concept quickly fell off due to its clunky controls and tiresome gameplay.

There are a few positive aspects to the game. The different levels are layered in the background, gradually coming to the front whenever the player enters a new level which makes for a nice visual effect and a bit of foreshadowing of what levels are yet to come. The sparse ambient background sound is soothing and the clicky cube bumps are satisfying to hear.

Mostly though Gravilon quickly becomes frustrating and a chore to play rather than being fun. One level for example requires the player to either get it right directly or fail subsequently in order to leave a precisely placed "cube corpse" boost needed to advance. And there are a lot more instances where hard to anticipate gravity physics interfere with your control over the cube.

Gravilon is a hard minimalistic indie platformer and in order to keep the player interested I feel there needs to be something else. It is lacking strong polished controls leaving the gameplay to be just not good enough. I tried getting into Gravilon but failed to keep myself engaged.

First

For F sake this game is hard

is what everybody would say about it

Second

For F sake this game is satisfying
I can't even put into words how much fun i had with it
Every level is sort of a puzzle, we need to find the best path to the exit
It is so much of a weird feeling with most levels when we don't know if we made the curse way it was intended

Anyways i love this game, no matter how hard it is, how unfair, how much split second reaction it needs, I'd so much love to have this 5 hours again to playwith something similar

I don't understand the hate game recieved, some people just are too emotionally unstable to keep calm
cause this game needs time, effort and thinking, it's not game for everyone.

BTW to authors - Is lvl 2.10 the last one, game doesn't allow to pass it and plays back logo and main menu, even if so, cool ending.

Calming game with the challenging aspects of what a platformer should have. Sound FX are very good however some things need to be improved such as some pathing. Solid 7/10

U have to try a lot after passing some chapters although it's such a simple game.
That might be okay for trading cards but it will make you cancer.

I tried to like this game but ...
The main menu itself is a puzzle ...
The mechanics are not explained ...
The game becomes repetitive quickly ...
The main idea seems very simple and not intriguing ... but not the execution.

The only thing I really liked is the atmospheric soundtracks.

I don't get anything from this game. How does it play? Why does it show different controls ingame when I remapped them before? I can only move left and right, how the hell am I supposed to get up?

Controller didn't work btw, partial controller support is a lie.

Main menu is unbelievable already, and you still haven't gotten started yet.

Not even worth to farm cards

Gravilon is a 2D puzzle platforming game where you are a square which moves around the screen with the goal of finding the exit. Many of the facets to this game have been well covered by other reviewers so have a look if you want to know more about the game. Here I am listing my thoughts on its positive and negative points and some suggestions to the developers where it could be improved.

Positives

There are a few things to talk about in this game but I'll start with the positives:

    • Interesting design - it's a very minimalistic game like many others have said with some unique level design. Not very often you are playing as a square traversing a broken world.
    • Various ways to solve puzzles - although some ways are easier there is a little freedom to complete some levels in different ways.
    • Mix of platforming, physics and accuracy - many puzzles require you to fly around on screen by hitting what I call "anti-gravity" blocks. There's also a slow time button to help with tricky shots.
    [*}Atmospheric - feels like its set in a post-apocalyptic line-drawn world.
    • Price - the game is rather cheap and goes on sale quite often with other games. I personally got this with a game bundle with 2 other indie games.

Negatives

    • No instructions - there are pretty much no instructions at all in this game. Even the Main Menu has to be navigated when you are the block and each setting is on different parts of the screen. This was really confusing and overly complicated. A simple Main Menu here would be a vast improvement.
    • No direction - it can take a very long time to figure out some puzzles as there are no indications on where to go at all.
    • Obstructed viewpoints - there were quite a few times when I had to make a jump blind because the camera is inexplicably obstructed by what appears to be scenery from the game. It makes the game, unintentionally, much harder and there isn't any way of turning it off as far as I know.
    • The music - there wasn't any music in this game at all which is fine but it doesn't make the game all that fun. I'd recommend putting on some of your own songs whilst playing this.
    • Trial and error - many puzzles require you to make very precise movements or landings which doesn't take much skill and just really relies on your square hitting the surface perfectly either on its side or one of its vertices.
    • Difficulty curve - levels vary incredibly in terms of difficulty from one to the other. One moment you breeze through and the next you're stuck for quarter of an hour trying to make one landing. It doesn't feel like progression much.
    • Repetitive - many levels require you to perform the same actions again and again. Although fun at first this becomes rather repetitive very quickly.

Conclusion

Gavilon is a small little puzzle game relying on platforming and physics. Although the puzzles can be interesting the same mechanics are overly used and many times feels requires you to run into a wall repeatedly. I'm sorry to the devs for pointing out so many negatives about this game and I really tried to enjoy it but in its current state it's hard to carry on playing. Until then I can't recommend this game for the time being.

If at all possible if the devs could change the main menu, allow you to remove some of the background (it can be obstructive and, at times, nauseating) and maybe even some music this would be a great game to pass the time.

Thanks for reading my review!

TLDR: Unity engine, minimalistic object routing game where a black tile gets dumped from an area and you tumble it clumsily towards a white square that acts as an exit somewhere else.

The main menu feels broken and not even in an alpha stage of completion. No controller was detected or working. Keyboard controls seemed a little cryptic. WASD seemed to steer the tile. Gameplay not compelling. Did not notice much of any audio. Whole thing feels like someone finished a unity tutorial not a game.

There is no music to set a mood and I found the movements of your piece to be unpredictable. Even in the first zone the constant need for repetition of large parts of the map after failure got boring, so I did not play long.

I don't remember how I got this game and I sure as hell don't know what this game is either. It basically tells you nothing and you just move around trying to figure out what to do.

You move a little square, and moving the thing is so boring and unsatisfying. You move pretty slowly, and sometimes getting up even the smallest ledge can take a frustrating amount of time.

I wouldn't buy this even if it went on sale.

Creative, minimal, and the promotion.. which are the reasons I bought this game.

There is no instruction at all, which is a big suprise to me. I understand the design and ideas, but I am not expecting to spend half an hour on the first level looking for the goal and destination. You have to explore the entire game by multiple attempts without reading guidance posted in the community. If you feel really bored and much patient than you think you are, the game might be a good time killer for you.

I played for about 20 minutes. The game comes with no tutorial so learning the mechanics is a bit hard. The square you are given to control is too small to hit the orbs you need to flip gravity. I wasn't going to put more than 5 minutes trying to beat one of the first levels. If the controls were easier I think this could be a good game.

Let's see, how best to describe this...
It starts you off with a game menu where you can fall off the screen and die while not even being in the game. There's a teasing "settings" label but no key or "cube way" to get to it. This means you can't even remap the movement keys. There's no tutorial, no manual, no explanation of the game mechanics or the basics, AT ALL.
Sorry, dev(s), but there's only so much mind-reading you can expect from your potential players. I instantly regretted this purchase after getting frustrated with the game controls and lack of purpose 5 minutes in.

Definitely not recommended unless the game dev(s) sit down and actually explain how to play this game without having to guess everything. Even then... the game will probably still be frustratingly poorly controlled and directionless (pun not intended).

I received Gravilon as part of a bundle pack with two other games. It is a skill-based game where you control a black square traversing an abstract landscape where the pull of gravity alters the physics that you're working with. That's all it is, and nothing more--your objective is to platform your way to a shining hub to get to the next level, and avoid being pulled away by missing a jump or going off the edge.

The game is abstract, simplistic, and challenging, but very dull. Most of the colors you will be met with are shades of the spectrum between white and black, and seldom anything else. Not a lot is happening in the background to take note of, and it can become unclear where you're supposed to go depending on the level you are on. The physics of the different pulls of gravity, combined with the friction and shape of the cube, also make everything worse, turning a dull, boring game into a boring and frustrating game.

I do not recommend this game to people who are looking for a cheap game, or an abstract/simplistic game, or even a fairly challenging game. The execution of the idea that this game presents fails to leave a lasting impression, as the only memories that are kept with you happen to be the frustration you feel, trying to get this square to the next level while avoiding upside down pitfalls and irregular lines that trap you in place. Look elsewhere for a game that tests your skill or dabbles in physics and gravity; you can get a much better experience from a game that costs just a few more dollars than this one.

Mindcrime

This is easily one of the most frustrating games I've ever played. It's definitely rage-inducing. I completed 3 or 4 levels and couldn't play anymore because the control is horrible. There seems to be a very noticeable delay between you pressing left/right and your cube beginning to move. Add to that the facts that you control a cube which moves by rotating (so movement is very stutter-like and uneven), that you have little control while in the air, that you're required to hit tiny "stars" in mid-air in order to reverse gravity, and that you can easily get stuck with your cube refusing to rotate to move onto a slightly-higher platform, and it's basically an exercise in futility.

I don't understand how anyone can enjoy this game. I like the minimalist aspect and I like the concept (hence my decision to purchase the game), but the difficulty/lack of control makes it impossible for me to play. Games are supposed to be fun, and for me, this was nothing but frustrating.

Oh, look, a 2D minimalistic puzzle-platformer of lines and cubes made in Unity.

Fell asleep?
Because I just did.

You move the box, try to get to exit and collide with white dots to reserve gravity and avoid orange lines or so. "Rage" platformer, I guess, with a quick respawn. The only unique thing to it is that instead of sliding your cube, you tumble it to the side.

I like that the levels in the game aren't linear. They look messy and you have to figure out your own path. But tumbling the box, oh dear, this sucks. Especially when game seriously expects you to bounce it off something in order to reach certain height. God, why.

Oh, there is slow-mo. It slows everything down aside from your ability to move cube left or right, it kinda speeds this movement up.

But bleh. Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame.

I tried hard to write a full real review... but since the concept of this game it's make a square roll...
a half review it's good enough here.

You start and you play the game in the menu. The menu is just a level.
The game is only squares and lines, I feel like returning to Tandy/Comodore 64 era. (But Comodore 64 was so much better at this)
Roll roll roll get stuck on the walls (find few bugs under 2 minutes)...
Try to have the perfect velocity for get the square thing that inverse the gravity.
And die die die because you don't even know if you need to go left or right.
I really don't appreciate this game. Too much things are missing for make the experience enjoyable.

I have hard time to figure out who like this.
At the end, they probably don't know how to code, it's why the game look like this.

Feels like developers tried to mix satisfaction and frustration. In this case, it does not mix well. Yes, it is a bit satisfying to gain speed, fly in slomo, land where you want etc., but the level design is simply too hard, that this satisfaction means nothing.
