For starters any reskins you try to install well Poof! they aren't there as you cant add AP enhancemnts it looks bland and soooo 2015 IT WAS REALEASES IN 2020!!! at least touch it up with some enhancemnts honestley If you realy want to then get each route seperatly so yeah I would't recomend at all!
If you have TS 2020 don't buy it, exactly the same game with fixed routes
Basically a Rip-Off. Nothing new and bears no relation to the Portillo Railway Journies concept. Avoid like Covid-19
This is a stand alone sim and uses the train sim engine. Its well done and so far the trains have been excellent to drive. If you are unsure about the full train sim package then start here.
Great "NEW CORE BUILD" Graphical detail improvement, Functionality and more accurate scenarios. Per-say all scenarios originally from the TS 2020(TS) with overall major again improvement. Recommended and if the whole of TS core could be improved the same way would make TS 2020 Better! Maybe a Foundation for TS 2021. This though as a stand alone is a must have 10/10.
I always like driving the routes out of London on this game
The learning curve is a bit steep - it helps if you have experience with other Train Simulator series games. I started with Train Simulator World 2020 and got into Train Simulator a bit later. Playability - and a feeling of 'being there' - is excellent, with many camera views so that you can appreciate the amazing scenery.
this game caused problem on my computer which meant i had to reload all steam again to make it work. we have a feeling it caused file corruptions for my train game this includes on steam log in as well. this was when we loaded great british railway journeys only ts2020 work fine otherwise
when are we going to get more of the Great British Railway Journey
I purchased this game as a fan of Michael Portillo's TV show yet Michael Portillo, nor the TV show, plays any relevance to the game. The game is just a slimmed down version of Train Sim fixed to some UK routes. Absolute waste of money if you wanted an actual Great British Railway Journeys game.
its just train sim with less routes
Works great even though it uses TS2020 platform
Excellent game. I just thought it was a bundle dlc for train simulator 2020. Overall, it is a decent buy.
I really wanted to like this game but it seems to be a load of crap. You try to select a train to play with but the game decides to give you something else. I'm old fashioned and wanted to play with steam trains of which there seems to be only two. I played with one ok but each time I tried to play the other steam train the game gave me a diesel instead. I tried everything I could think of but no, the game only gave me the same diesel crap. I verified the files just to make sure it wasn't a software problem but no change. No point asking for help on the forums as no one is there. I played over 2 hours so no refund possible but this is my first train sim and it will be my last. This thing is just rubbish. AVOID.
This is a really fun game to play i would highly recomend it because theres alot you can do and you cna make your own custom train my only issue is that it dosent run that good
100% worth it for a train sim beginner brilliant value for money and provides hours of fun and enjoyment
why does this look nicer than my dlcs on ts2020 some reason these dlcs are polished up and more color added to this game glad i brought it now i saw the pics and thought this looks better than ts2020 and yep even settle carlisle has more color to it
May be a knock off version of train sim 2020 but its still good
The fun parts of Train Simulator in a nutshell.
Games a mess never loads just hang,s in load window
then crash 32 / 64 bit still same problem.
0 / 10
Pretty nice game, if you really want this game then get it on sale, if you are thinking of getting this as a Train Simulator Substitute,..... Don't. I bought this before TS but its very badly optimised. No, I do not have a bad PC, my other games and TS2021 now that I have it, all run smoothly or pretty smoothly, however this game, especially on Portsmouth Direct Line, Lags, which is very annoying as if the optimisation was fixed, this would be a great game! Sadly, the lag still lets it down. However, if you have a very very powerful PC or you think you can cope with the lag, go ahead! Another thing is if you get bored of the routes and scenarios in this then you cant get any extra TS dlc, this game is stand alone. Its really up to you to decide if you buy this or not, but I hope this helped a little bit.
It follows Michael's TV program well
LOVELY GAME SIMPLE TO USE AND VERY ACCURATE. A JOY TO PLAY
despite the problems i have had i would recomend the game the only thing i run with scoring off as the penalties are crap
IF YOUR A TRAIN FAN THIS IS THE GAME FOR YOU DRIVING IS IN TWO MODES EXPERT OR SIMPLE SO IT,S FOR THE EXPERIENCED OR NOVICE
its literal crap, dont get it
its just TS2022 BUT same stuff
Bought this thinking it was a Route add on for Train Simulator 2022 with free trains included...
It is NOT ... It is an independent of TS2022 simulator of a few Great Britain routes with free trains. Totally not what I expected.... and I played 1.7 hours too long... (thought it was 2 weeks to refund, didn't understand the 2hr limit)... SO NO REFUND and ZERO F#$*s given from STEAM. If you don't have TS2022 or want an additional and identical (and IMHO ... lesser) simulator, by all means get it... just DO NOT PLAY LONGER than 2.0 hours. otherwise load up with actual TS2022 DLC.
tl;dr: repackaged handful of Train Simulator routes from a few years back; doesn't benefit from the show's licence in any way; runs just as poorly as the main Train Simulator game; honestly, I'm not sure who it's even for - if you want to try a train simulator, go for Train Sim World 2, instead.
More details:
If you're familiar with Train Simulator [more-or-less-current year], you'll know what to expect. This is basically a handful of routes from Train Simulator's vast catalogue of DLCs with their associated locomotives and scenarios lifted from that game and repackaged under the eponymous show's licence. The game doesn't do anything differently from TS, not really. There are no clips from the show, no special scenarios tied to it, not even a few pictures or a paragraph of text introducing each route. All that seems to be different are the loading screens.
The main objective disadvantage of the game is just how poorly it runs. Granted, my laptop wasn't high-end even when it came out, but it gets far better framerate and loading times at mid-to-high settings in Train Sim World 2, a far better looking game. Comparable settings in Train Simulator (and Great British Railway Journeys) could net me 20 fps or lower on some routes, and enabling dynamic lighting results in framerates just above slideshow range.
And poor performance isn't the game's only problem. There are spots where speed limits in the route "preview" overlap, the game preaches braking early and gently one minute just to slap you with a timetable that can only just be achieved if you brake as late as a stunt driver the next, etc.
So the game suffers from most of TS's problems (save maybe for the unmarked speed limits that mostly plague German routes) without the benefit of the variety its vast catalogue could offer if you browse for it. Honestly, I'm not sure who the game is even for; it doesn't do anything with the licence to attract the fans of the show, and if you're looking for a taste of the Train Simulator (to see if you like it after all), you're much better off picking up one of the annual releases on sale (like Train Simulator 2022 [country] Edition) or - better yet - grab Train Sim World 2.
