I've had Gun Club VR for about 3 years, in fact this was one of my first purchases on the Oculus Go... but I've noticed.. they aren't updating the game on Steam anymore. They're focusing on stupid fucking Oculus cuz that's where all the money is. Honestly disappointing. Game gets boring easily if you're not recording a video on it. H3VR is so much better, playing that for about 2, 100x better, I'm sorry but the controls and jank is horribbllee.

SO, i have mixed feelings coming back to the game, i used to love it, but now the game feels somewhat basic, id like to see revamped enemies or new missions, because the gun-play is still among the best, The modification system IS the best. i dont want to give a negative review just because it feels out-dated, i really did enjoy the game, but all in all, IF there was a new and better release of this game id buy and recommend

Good fun shooting targets, nice to try out different configurations of accessories on the guns like having a red dot and a telescopic site at the same time for quick targeting and accurate targeting for hostages. Also you don't need much room as it's mostly just rotating on the spot with the odd leaning here and there.

so far the game is very good and very immersive, a couple times I've caught myself trying to rest on the in game tables. The guns are very realistic and the reloads are very satisfying. However when it comes to gripping guns its very janky and not the best, the biggest issue I have with the game is the major crashes I experience at least 2 every hour or so, a couple of them restarting my PC. Other than that its a very good game, would recommend.

It's a fun time for a while, but unfortunately you'll want to use everything 1 handed because its just easier. Lets say you have a tommy gun, just 1 handing it and spraying is your best bet rather than grabbing it with your second hand. The reason behind this is that the way you hold your gun with your controllers is not what is being portrayed on screen. To line up your sights you will have to hold your left hand significantly farther left than the barrel of your gun is, making this super awkward system, which is very non linear and very immersion breaking.

Pistols and one handed weapons are ok. Most guns can be used one handed, but again its just silly and immersion breaking that you actually do better without having both hands on your weapon.

Overall i give it a 6/10, it has fun enough gameplay and a good enough amount of content, but sadly most of it is just brought down by the one handed thing. I'm gonna have to say no i do not recommend.

I'm a casual player without any knowledge about guns (don't own one). I bought this game primarily wanting to have a vr experience for target shooting. I admit this game is addicting for me specially learning how to shoot different types of guns. Highly recommend this game.

This game hasn't been updated in almost a year, the index support is horrible. Worse it just isn't good, for the same price go buy H3VR which has everything this game has but better and more guns.

Good on pistol simulation, but two hands gun are feel so strange.

- Shot Gun Hard to charge.
- Rifle hard to move and aim... Hold by Single Hand may easier than Two hands.

Feel really strange while using M1 Garand, so different from real

Update :
... Need enable Stock simulation to steady two hands gun.

Game is very funny.
Controls are very good, feedback is wonderful. A bit uncertain sometimes, but wonderful. Maybe, instead of a different camo of the same weapon, I'd rather more different weapons. I suggest some .50 BMG and maybe any LMG. At last, I think the weapons stats need more impact on the game. For examples, heavy magazine should reduce the stability (Because of the weight).

Anyway, good job. Hope you add more content.

There are positives and negatives about this game. First lets talk about the pros. Its very fun and addictive to shoot targets at the gun range. The weapons look and feel very realistic and were done very well.

The cons. Well the controls can be a bit hard to get used to. There's not much else to do except shoot at the gun range. Upgrading weapons is basically the best part of the game when it comes to any kind or progression. This is a game that really only has one basic goal. Shoot all of your targets before time runs out. There's really nothing else to it. Still its very fun though.

Because of how difficult it can be to get used to the controls. I recommend this game to anyone 14+ in age.

This game is a highly repetitive warehouse target shooter with a terrible janky reloading process that ruins the experience for me. It involves first grabbing your gun, which you often miss. Once you have your gun, you must grab an ammo clip and insert it into the gun. Then you grab the top of the gun and pull back, which I found to be the most frustrating part of this game because it was incredibly clumsy and I would often get stuck doing this while being shot at. I would also end up dropping my gun during the reloading process. Then you must teleport, which is highly unresponsive. The graphics are also very poor unless you crank the supersampling, which will then cause lots of frame rate drops. Each level is also exactly the same and take place in the exact same warehouse. The guns are also very inaccurate in the higher levels even after purchasing numerous upgrades and I would also end up failing after reaching these higher levels mostly due to the awful reloading process and highly accurate bullet sponge targets. I would much rather play the VR game called Lethal VR because it offers a variety of scenarios with a solid frame rate and an easy reloading process.

Serratus
Serratus

This game is not bad overall, but it lacks some really needed features:
1. Statistics (especially for the sandbox mode)
2. Free locomotion and turning (you rarely need to move in this game, but it's very awkward and sometimes disorientating).
3. Hit numbers in the sandbox mode (which hit landed where by digits on the target).

Good things about this game is:
1. Pretty impressive collection of weapons (not too many, but selection is very good - there are almost all famous weapons from AK47 and MP40 to the legendary Winchester. And all of them are beautifully modeled.
2. Good shooting mechanics and feel of the weapons (except some bolt action sniper rifles).
3. Sandbox mode - do whatever you want with any weapon as much as you like.

I don't think this game is worth 20€, but for 10€ or less - it's a deal. I bought it for merely 5€ (75% discount), and this is very cheap!

Fun arcade shooter with guns which to me at least feel very nice to customize and fire, with challenging but relaxing gameplay I can tune to my own liking through choosing guns and customization.
Looking forward to the new DLC and future content!

Review from a Valve Index

robby73uk
robby73uk

Fun, but if you want to fire anything other than a hand gun then avoid this like the plague. The problem is that rifles etc do not anchor into your shoulder, so you have the effect of the weapon floating around, trying to aim while you line it up with your hands....with no anchor point, and the weapon moving so slowly it renders everything but handguns unusable. A pity because it really is fun, but poor design and execution ruin it. There is also a really annoying issue where for absolutely no reason the safety comes on in the middle of a shoot....no reason, it just comes on and you cant switch it off so end up restarting the level.....its very annoying. Avoid unfortunately.

Foolish Poo

Pretty fun game, nice collection of weapons and it seems the devs are introducing more content through dlc. Gun modification is pretty great. Surprised at how decent the sights are. I mean only ever seen through a scope once in my life, but for vr these were good.

Has sandbox mode, bunch of levels to progress through and try with different guns. Some levels are actually challenging. Other modes including zombies.

My only gripe with this game is the controls. Don't get me wrong, they work fine. They do the job. Just sometimes they are janky as hell. like trying to grab a pistol with two hands, janks. Loading the revolver is janks. There is many janks but its all still playable. Just sometimes get sucked out of the immersion.

All in all, got it on sale for less than £5. Worth it.

I purchased this game in the recent steam sale for around $5 and I think at THAT price it is a good game. I have not played it very long, but first impressions are important and BOY this game for me did not start off well. The menus and pop-ups are the same as what you would expect out of a mobile game, NOT a fully fledged Steam VR game. I played on the Oculus Quest 2 and the gun handling was sub-par, with it not detecting I was holding the guns with two hands. They have only a small vibration to simulate recoil and this hurts the immersion when you shoot a giant pistol and feel a tiny vibration in the controller. Reloading is weird on some guns and can get tedious. Their control mapping and menu system is poor, and at times multiple text will overlap to make both pop-ups (usually something you need to do) unreadable. The progression comes from you beating levels to earn XP and level up as well as earn in-game money you can then use to unlock guns. The most fun I have had so far was with the Sandbox mode where all weapons are unlocked. Compared to H3VR which also sits at $20, I would not recommend this game. However, if you can grab it for $5 it is a good deal as I'd place this at about a $10 game and it has its merits.

I got this game on the premise listed on store page and this review is based on this expectation:

"unsurpassed realism combine to make Gun Club VR the ultimate virtual weapon simulator."

I did not give it a full try, as the M9 was sufficient to tell me that quoted line is absolutely wrong. I understand the recoil is not going to magically translate into the physical world with current tech, but it felt like firing a laser gun instead of a snappy little pistol with some mild attitude. Holding out the weapon sideways with one hand, without any attempt at being steady, the shot groups are insanely tight. It feels like there's little in the game to try to incorporate the user's motion data or even simulate some degree of realism from the controlled ballistics of firing a gun. Other games have done this better.

Additionally, the M9 in-game sounds like it is from an 80s action movie, not the loud 'pop' in real life. Granted, real life gun sounds are hard to simulate accurately due to many environmental variables (and should the game user have simulated ear protection? and what type?) But in this, it sounds 'off'.

These things alone were enough to put me off this game.

That said, the ability to use nonfiring hand to manipulate the safety, and grip the slide differently (fingers + palm vs thumb + finger) based on what angle I used my non-firing hand is nice. It is possible that this game is great at the technical aspects of how to manipulate the weapons. It just seems very unrealistic to actually shoot them. A shame.

This game plays and looks like a mobile game. The gun sounds are straight out of a low budget B movie. It's clearly aimed at casual console players on Playstation that don't know jackshit about guns. The reload animations have a sort of HL: Alyx lock on animation which is kinda nice I guess.

I only paid 6 of my great British pounds for this so at that price i'm not that bothered. Would recommend on sale if you are burned out from other games and desperately need something new.

I had a blast with this game years ago on Oculus. Picked it up again last month here and it's better than ever.

This game is great and a must have for FPS and/or firearms enthusiasts. Is it super realistic no? Does a full AK magazine show three rounds supported by the follower? Yes! Is this game a blast? Yes!

It's been a while since I played and returned this game but I'll write a review to the best of my memory. Coming not only from H3VR but the original Gun Club game on the PS2, This one does not hold up. The original feature a few different modes based around a gun range on grass much like hitchcock's range and the one H3VR features. It is also a little bit grindy but I believe the original PS2 version has that as well so I'm a little neutral on that.

Overall I don't necessarily recommend this if you've already been looking at other alternatives like H3VR or even have access to the original version since this game is a little repetitive and frankly kinda boring.

I initially play gun club on vive port and bought it here when it was on special, in total i have played for about 4 hours, and i feel like there is nothing more to see.

If this is your first VR game, you will probably get far more mileage out of it than me, The game features a lot of variants of the same levels, with each one slightly increasing in difficulty, some having upto 40 stages.
I did manage to complete all the regular zombie levels, which did start to get challenging, especially when using a pump shotgun. But overall i found the lack of challenge to be boring, and have no interest in grinding out the earlier stages to see if the rest of the game reaches an interesting challenge level.

Haven't played it a whole lot but it seems like a fun game you can grind. H3VR still takes the cake as far as guns and their realism goes but this definitely 'aint bad. Get it on sale if you can! I got it for $13 CAD a couple days ago and I do not regret it.

Bought the game before H3VR. This game is complete trash. I cannot express how much of a waste of money this was. You want a fun gun sim go buy H3VR instead. Tried to get a refund 7 days later when I remembered it was in my library and steam wouldn't refund it. Had this mistake sitting in my library forever now and I hate it.

Gun Club is the more casual friendly brother to the more simulation heavy Hot Dogs, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades. If you want good ol' fashioned, dumb, pick up and play shooting, this is the game to get. Don't get me wrong, H3 is a good time but it is very casual un-friendly and non-VR people I've shown it to just struggle. Gun Club is the best alternative for casuals and people who just don't want to put up realism. The guns feel great, really good and wide selection to choose from, the challenges are addictive and sandbox mode is a great recent addition.

Bit of advice, rebind reload to the A button if you're on Index, swiping down to reload is a nightmare as left and right on the touch pad do other things. Also, hitting a physical button to eject the mag is very satisfying.

No, just no.

Handguns feel odd in your hand, disconnected, not really lined up correctly with your hand. I felt like I was pointing down to get the gun level, and it felt like it was a little high in my hand. Also, when I would go to rack the slide it kept grabbing the mag and pulling it out of the gun. Even though my hand was hovering on top of the gun, it would still slip under the gun and grab the mag when I pressed the grab button.

Rifles (two handed weapons in general) are so strange! Its like whoever designed them had never held a gun before. When you grab it with your off hand, it locks it into a forward position, so even when you try to move the aim direction off to the side the gun never moves. You have to turn your entire body to get it to move, like your a tank turret, it just feel awful and unrealistic. Terrible! And just like the pistol, when grabbing the action to cycle the weapon I would just grab the mag or the barrel, I couldn't get it to grab what I wanted.

Then the other issues I had with the game is that the weapons just didn't feel right, it didn't feel like you really had any weight with them. No real kick to the weapons, again no weight, and they actually seemed to fire better one handed instead of with two hands. Just so unrealistic to hold an assault rifle one handed and actually have better accuracy then with two hands...

I can get a WAY better experience playing "Contractors" and would highly recommend trying it for a better experience.

i like it quite a bit, its kinda like a shooting range with progression, like you start picking between 3 starter pistols, and then you do these mission thingys where a bunch of targets pop up and ya gotta shoot them before they go back down (and also they shoot at you) and earn the moneys and buy the upgrades/attachments for your guns and buy new guns and stuff, theres different types of levels for different guns, like pistols have their own set of missions to play, smgs do, rifles have their own set, etc... although, i will say, the tutorial is kinda shit and hardly helps you learn the menu and stuff, but i got used to it after around 45mins of playing. some of the controls for like gripping and reloading are reverse from pavlov which makes it kinda weird if ur used to pavlov, but it didnt take long to get used to. for example, you gotta press trigger to get the mag from ur belt in pavlov but in this its grip, and there are other small differences in the controls like that, and sadly no way to change them (at least i havent found a bindings section in the settings yet). overall its pretty fun and i like it quite a bit, and it also just helps reflexes and aim in general and stuff if ya care about that stuff. although, for me, it was kinda easy up until around when the missions were at maybe 4 out of 6 for difficulty, which is probably like at least 20 levels in (at least for the pistols one, thats the one ive been playing most, and have completed), and also the missions in the dark that require a flashlight are really annoying, so beware of those, but theyre a nice challenge. but for like the first 3 levels of difficulty out of 6, i got like 4/4 stars every single time pretty much, and was able to take the time to get headshots on almost every target, so it wasnt really too hard for those. also, when i saw difficult, when i played the pistol missions, i only moved on when i got 4 stars on the mission, but if there were 3, i would restart until i got it perfect, so when i say difficult, im referring to the difficulty in getting 4 stars. just clearing the levels in general isnt too bad, the only thing ya watch out for mostly is the hostages, however, near the end, like maybe the last 5 levels out of 40, the targets actually started to hit me much more and i actually failed due to me taking damage a couple times, but for all the other levels, that didnt really happen except maybe once or twice overall. and for the final levels, i actually had to attempt each one multiple times to get 4 stars on them, which meant that there was a challenge involved, which made it fun. theres also quite a few guns as well, like well over 40 im pretty sure, so thats pretty nice, always gotta appreciate variety (i couldnt find the exact number when i searched online). although the game with like the military guy announcer and how the theme of the menu is and stuff might seem kinda weird cause its all military dude and stuff, its still pretty dang fun just in general, and ive only stopped playing because my headset got low on battery every time so far, so its entertaining enough for me to not want to stop after like 2hrs of playing, so id definitely recommend.

DO NOT GET THIS GAME.
You should get H3VR. Not only is it the same price but its better. It has way more guns, a better sandbox mode and instead of just shooting wood and having bad sniper gamemodes, it has hot dogs and take and hold and a lot of hilarious stuff. Updates almost come out weekly, and the dev seems like he never stops working. Whats wrong with Gun Club VR? well,

The sound quality is ear bleeding. People who have high volume will suffer if they play this. The guns arent even that realistic either. Sure it has saftey and fire and reloading and that stuff but its not detailed and feels arcadey. It uses more "tacticool" options that would actually damage the weapon in real life and does not make the game any better with the broken physics and "campaign" which doesnt really even have a story. Playing this game for the story is like making a show out of mcdonalds but its with guns. Attachments are not free and feels like you have to see somebody to get them than to just put them on yourself. Shooting feels bad too. The recoil looks like you have an iron wall as a shoulder. It doesnt have any effect on the accuracy and makes the gamemodes feel easy and dull. Not only that but its the same setting in all of them. It eventually feels like you have to teleport a mile to the next location before you get to the next area where the enemies are even though you dont see them whenever your traveling there. If you like target practice with a broken physics game and sound quality that breaks your ears combined with the fact that sandbox is horrible and the original game is a campaign then get this. If you dont like ANY of the things i just mentioned just go and buy H3VR (Hot dogs, Horsehoes, & Hand grenades.)

It's a great game but I don't know what happened. It doesn't work good with Oculus Rift S anymore at least for me. The hands are always off in the tracking so I can't reload properly, I've tried all the offsets I have 3d printed gun rigs I used for this game none of them work anymore. I can't even hit the menu key or find a way to exit the course anymore, only restart or continue, so I would have to exit the entire game just to go back maybe I'm missing something?

Oh and I spent like 15 hours unlocking tons of guns only to have all my progress deleted after an update.

Just get H3VR

Right off the bat, long ass tutorial, feels like a mobile game.
The two handed weapons completely fail to track your hands.
They have a levelling system that involves upgrades and purchase for ingame weapons.
So far, all you do is shoot targets. You upgrade your weapons damage and magazine size to shoot targets.

why slog through this when there is H3VR (the real one)?

At one time, this was my favorite target game. However, the developers chose to neglect the PC VR crowd and put their focus on Oculus Quest. This means less focus on high-end graphics and advanced controllers and more focus on simplicity and casual gamers. The tutorial is too long, the graphics are stuck in the past, and the Wild West DLC has been out on Quest for a couple months but still not available for PC.

A side note: Sniper rifles are unusable if you're left-eye dominant.

UPDATE:
I just realized my "play time" is very low in this game given my claim of "favorite target game." I spent far more time in the game using Oculus, but purchased it for a second time to extract myself from Facebook's ecosystem. My actual play time is far, far higher.

Could not get the Teleport function to work in the second step of the Sandbox movement tutorial. ( HP Reverb G2 )
First teleport works fine, second teleport requiring thumbstick movement to the left does not work. Teleport arc stays red despite being in the target circle. Checked online for help, advice was a game reboot. This did not work. Game cost me $20.00 for about 8 minutes of gameplay. Game is now unuseable.

this is not H3VR , its a shooting gallery score attack arcade gun collecting game and at that its really good. guns feel really good rifles not no much unless you have a vr gun stock.

I'm new to VR games, so for what it's worth, I think Gun Club is a lot of fun.
It's the first 'Gun' game I've played , in VR, and I'm enjoying it immensely. Made a bespoke Gun Stock for my vive controllers and went to town on those pesky targets.
Seems to me to be a good stepping stone to the more hard core VR shooters.

I think it's really neat, but there are some issues. Firstly, two handed weapons are a little jank when trying to hold them like you would in real life. Maybe it's just how my sensors are set but weapons seemed to have a mind of their own when you're trying to set the stock against your shoulder. Secondly, the grabbing needs to be refined a bit. For some reason when I'm trying to reload a bigger gun I'll end up grabbing the barrel, but when firing my grip will change to grabbing the mag while I'm shooting.

A great target shooter with decent reloading mechanics. Now i can't speak of how accurate the mechanics are considering i live in communist canada and owning guns even a rubber band shooter is a Criminal Offence and will yield you 5 years in the clink.
Great game highly recommend on sale.

I have not gone far in this game yet, but for a VR shooting game, I really enjoy it. As someone who enjoys target shooting, this is really a realistic experience.
